[Music] [Music] so [Music] the intelligent money british gt championship hits a significant point in the 2021 season the first of two double header events two 60-minute sprint races coming your way this afternoon from the snetterton 300 circuit more points on offer more racing action for us and two very exciting races i'm sure in coming we've got some very interesting grids ahead of the races today and some interesting weather in prospect as well it is overcast it is very very windy so the weather is moving through quickly because of the size of this place as you can see in some areas it's raining in other areas it's actually quite bright and sunny but that wind is certainly going to play its part that is for sure and uh south westerly wind as it was yesterday was actually affecting the handling of a number of cars out there as well andy mcewen up here in the commentary box david addison alongside me and uh david i always get really excited ahead of these double headers i love long distance racing don't get me wrong and i've really enjoyed the two and three hour races we've had so far but these 60 minute sprints they are half the length but double the action almost because the drivers have to get on with it right from the word game they're flat out sprints and you've got two flat out sprints within one in a sense because you've got the am race you've got the pro race and they are always dramatic and the fact that the weather is being so fickle as they leave the pit lane for example look one way and it looks bright look the other and the response of rain falling our windows are getting wet for example so at the moment the circuit is very much for slicks but it could be that tars become a factor in this race and that's the last thing that teams want on top of everything else he's trying to second guess the elements so we're in for a very dramatic hour hope hope hope everybody gets through the first few corners without drama we had enough of that at donnington we had enough of that at spa uh what we need to do is to get carls through the first few laps and indeed through the first race because there's limited repair time between this and the second stanza later on in the day exactly so whilst you need to get on with it to try and maybe make up for a lowly grid position or try and back some points in this race you cannot afford contact or an off-track excursion that damages the car because as david said that that might then jeopardize your chances of getting out in the second race later on in the day this then is the car that leads the championship in gt3 by virtue of their first victory of the year actually uh last time out at spa in belgium dennis lyndon and leo machitsuki drove a faultless race actually whilst others around them were losing their heads a little bit to take their first win but their third podium finish and had it not been for a non-finish at donington park uh a few weeks earlier at the very first corner of course when leonard chitski came across a sideways mike ligo at turn one they would probably be even further ahead in the championship as it is though linda machitsuki have just a one and a half point advantage over andrew howard who is second on his own because johnny adam's co-driver uh was not able to race at spa for covet-related issues and so andrew howard who went on to finish just off the podium in fourth place uh he now is second place on his own with a younger birmingham logging third in the championship with uh only eight and a half points covering the top three teams uh the grid then for this one is headed actually by two cars uh that we're not that used to seeing at the front of the grid one of them we haven't seen at all this year is the 97 oman racing with tf sport aston martin amidal harvey making a welcome return to the championship likewise charlie eastwood who is his pro co-driver and it's the bentley of calvin fletcher and martin plowman alongside they didn't go to spa they've had nothing but misfortune it seems in the earlier races this season and they have now david a brilliant opportunity don't they to bounce back from all of that from the front row of the grid absolutely right uh so the front row cars both examples of cars with lots of grunt front engine british beasts aston martin taking on bentley and martin plowman will do the second stint in number 11 that lines up second on the grid and martin plantman is with brynn lucas on the grid see you s indeed mike's in deep conversation right now martin it's great to see you guys back on the grid and also great to see you on the front row yeah thanks brian it's uh it's been super going well you know we've been making progress with the car it's a new team it's a new car to us we're just learning all the time um but we've got a great opportunity today to try to get some silverware and just going to make sure that we nail everything and uh just keep it calm ahead of course it's uh it's a long straight down there to that first right hander kelvin's in the car you're giving him all the words of encouragement he knows what he's doing here he's been teaching me what is the plan because it's a two race day uh well obviously yeah he's up first um you know we're gonna be quite aggressive in race one you know we've predicted rain in race two so we might be going uh pretty hard on our strategy for this one to see what we can get uh and then race two we'll see what what he brings good luck martin thank you see you soon yes thank you very much bryn so uh martin plan and we'll be watching on nervously i'm sure those uh guys have yet to trouble the top five so far this year so cars gridding up then before the race gets underway though uh it is uh a moment uh to reflect upon events uh from a week ago i'm sure the vast majority of you have heard of the really unfortunate events that took place at brands hatch a week ago there was a serious incident which unfortunately uh claimed the life of one of our volunteer marshals robert foote sadly taken from us uh volunteering at that event and uh the marshals we say this every time it seems that we are at a race meeting we couldn't go racing without them they are the lifeblood of the sport but uh unfortunately what happened a week ago did rather remind us that they do put themselves on the front line they put themselves potentially in harm's way so that we can enjoy the sport that we love and uh it is always tragic when marshals unfortunately uh are injured or in this case taken from us completely robert foote was a volunteer marshal for a number of years uh predominantly at brands hatch also a scrutineer and had been heavily involved in motorsport for an awfully long time and the events that occurred at brown's hatch a week ago really rocked the entire motorsport community in a way that i can't recall seeing for an awfully long time it has brought the community together and you'll notice all of the cars are running with an orange heart to show their respect and admiration uh for the hard-working marshals and there you can see the orange heart which will be across the windscreen banners of all of the cars some other teams and drivers making their own uh tributes as well to robert and the wider marshalling community this weekend but as the cars have now all made their way onto the grid we're going to gather uh for a minute of reflection uh to remember and celebrate the life of robert foote and uh the circuit will fall quiet a minute's silence then uh here at sletterton as we uh contemplate and remember uh what happened at brown's hatch a week ago so i hope you'll all join us at home then in a minute silence for our fallen marshal robert foote is so thank you very much everyone for joining us uh in that moment of reflection and uh i'm sure all of the spectators here today have very much got the marshalls in their thoughts and uh we are truly truly sorry for their loss the marshalling community is a family within the motorsport family and uh we thank them from the very bottom of our hearts for all of the hard hard work they do right then the uh race then will uh be imminent the activity resumes down on the grid then as final preparations are made for what promises to be a very very exciting 60 minutes of racing then as i've said it is the aston martin number 97 on pole position with the number 11 bentley alongside and another team that had a really strong qualifying effort where enduro motorsport the 77 mclaren lines up third on the grid um meanwhile back in gt4 it's another mclaren that was at the top of the times it was the number three team rocket rjn car michael bennyer drives it and he's down there with brynn yeah you know you talk about commentators curses and things like that well at spa i spoke to your teammate alan said you know this is looking very good for you at spa and we know what happened at the very very start of that race so michael totally different scenario here at snetterton but you want some some decent uh action from the off yeah we just had a stroke of bad luck so far this season and uh you know now we're just starting paul lane's gonna take it nice and steady going around and we'll see what he can do but yeah it's really nice to have everything change around over the season and we're in a rapid car this weekend and it's really good it has been tough for you guys three dnfs out of the fourth four races so far really so two races today you could really wipe that slate clean couldn't you yeah i just been really unlucky but you know him qualifying p1 and also on p5 to in the race later it's looking really good today you don't feel really good he feels really good so hopefully we'll get the win today knock on wood yeah good luck all right thank you always been a good uh mclaren circuit snetterton uh in gt3 or gt4 but uh in particular in the gt4 ranks this weekend they look very strong we've got two mclarens uh inside the top four positions within gt4 one on pole and then the number two car started by james kell shared with uh jordan collard will start fourth on the grid that's a new chassis for them after their original was uh very badly damaged at spa two weeks ago snetaten is a very different circuit to a lot of the ones we've raced at so far david the donningtons and silverstones and spas of the world with their long straights and their fast sweeping corners snetterton and alton park do tend to favor those mid-engine cars though so a good chance for many to really get their season on track uh yeah it's almost like the second part of the championship isn't it different type of racing now with these double headers here and autumn park gap on the grid you'll notice there there's one porsche the gcat car but missing is the reshell team parker racing entry it's got a throttle center issue that the team can't quite get to the bottom of we'll come to that in a moment because gt4 gave us the first win for the number 90 valve mclaren of ashley marshall and jack brown in spa and ashley is with bryn on the grid well we know what happened at spa it was a fantastic result for you two not quite so good in qualifying yesterday what happened from your point of view um to be honest i think we saw a little bit this weekend with setup with a few uh gremlins on friday so just kind of getting for them the car's a lot better now um so really qualifying was kind of a bit of an experiment almost with the setup um but yeah jack's qualified p5 which i think is a strong stand position so i think hopefully get some good points and just yeah we've been quick all year to be fair i just had a bad luck in the start of the year so i think yeah let's get some good points this weekend and then see where are into the last two rounds it's the way to go good luck thank you cheers uh so ashley marshall then uh elated with his victory uh and shared with jack brown of course uh last time out at spa and uh that was their first win it was their first podium of the season and now they arrive as we've said at a circuit that should suit them well admittedly with a 10 second success penalty because they won last time out worth reminding everyone perhaps if you're new to the championship if you win a race you have a 10 second success penalty to serve next time out uh 10 seconds in the sprint races anyway seven seconds for finishing second and five seconds for finishing third and that repeats again then in race two later on so the winners of this race in fact all of the podium finishes in this race will have extra time to serve in the pits later on and that always spices things up david it always gives us a comeback story doesn't there's always somebody coming back uh trying to fight back from that success penalty with only sometimes half an hour in which to do it and you need a safety card don't you which can help or hinder your race accordingly uh but yes it ain't over until the end and of course that's one of the the good things for the pros by going second because if you do have a late race safety car then it becomes very important indeed that you are there uh for the end because that's when you can make a real difference so we've got another gap on the grid the number 42 stellar uh motorsport audi richard williams should be going first that car is missing from the grid as far as i can see so we're trying to trace uh what's happening to that we know that the tpr porsche ain't on the grid there's a car that had gear selection dramas yesterday stuart proctor in the balf gt3 entry so they've had a warm-up session this morning and from memory the audi did go out but did it not go off towards the end of the session i have a feeling that somebody had a spin late in the session it might have been that car might have been another however it ain't on the grid which is rather frustrating news the grid is completed by dave whitmore's sicily motorsport uh mercedes the car gods bat car touring car team coming into british gt this year engines fire it's going to be a rolling start of course so they will do one lap behind the mclaren safety car pace car as it will be that will peel into the pit lane and if the race director peter daley is happy with the noah's ark formation then we will be in business 25 to 35 minutes the pit window race one of two is set to go indeed it is so the grid starts to clear then the nerves start to jangle that imagine for these drivers remember race number one the grid is set by the qualifying times from qualifying session one which was complete completed by the am drivers so the am drivers start this race the pros will jump in after the pit stops and then they reverse that for race number two so the start of this race could be pretty entertaining it is the 97 car then uh welcome return to the championship for oman racing with tf sport and amado harvey who was a front runner in the championship a number of years ago with aston martin's uh is a very quick am it must be said and he managed to uh claim pole position by about eight tenths of a second yesterday so expect him to try and make a break for it here at the start that car of course has no success penalty because it's its first appearance in the championship this year so the noise builds then the cars head out on their green flag lap around the centerton 300 circuit a chance to see what the weather conditions are doing as much as anything else because we have had these all little showers that have uh come across the circuit hopefully though it is dry for the start of the race which will see amidal harvey on pole position from kelvin fletcher looking for his first victory of the year as well for paddock motorsport morgan tilbury a really impressive effort for enduro third ahead of adam ballen double winner here two years ago for marwell motorsport mike ligo is fifth ahead of andrew howard second in the championship sixth on the grid championship leader leo machitsuki deep in the field seventh on the grid for him ahead of ian loggie who didn't even make it to turn one last time he starts eight stuart proctor is ninth ahead of not the team park racing porsche because nick jones we know is not taking the start that means the last two uh the last of the gt3 cars will be the g cap porsha of sheamus jennings then we get into the gt4s who hopefully will leave a cap to the gt3s at the start mclaren on pole allen vallant for team rocket rjn ahead of will burns the championship leader in gt4 for century motorsport wilmore's ford mustang is third ahead of james kell in that new chassis there the black number two mclaren uh ashley marshall winner last time his fifth ahead of katie milner in the third of the rocket rjn mclarens then it's uh the toyota of chris sorry the two players should say chris salkell the head of uh unfortunately another empty space on the grid richard williams a non-starter for stellar motorsport john ferguson's toyota is their next ahead of the geneta of mark sanson that is on pole for race two actually but mark starting deep in the field for this one nick halstead is next matt topham had a spin in qualifying which rather hampered his efforts and so he will start 24th overall whilst at the very back of the grid is the car gods with sicily motorsport mercedes started by dave whitmore so a couple of cars missing david but still set to be a great race hopefully just one to miss actually because it's a damper issue for 42 but it's at the end of the pit lane and it's good to go so it will join in last uh it won't therefore lose too much only effectively three rows uh but it is going to make it into the race which is good use indeed so uh through brundle and nelson go the field then heading towards the end of the green flag lap and uh this is uh i'm a little bit nervous about this because i've seen what's happened at the start of these races don't look don't get nervous and snederton is known isn't it for early drama it's a narrow pit straight it's a long room into rich's corner and then provided you get three riches in one piece you then have to negotiate the real pinch point down at the wilson heaven where there is always contact there's always somebody that doesn't get their breaking point quite right let's hope fingers crossed everyone that we get a clean start and a clean 60 minutes of racing then for round number five of the intelligent money british gt championship the drivers have all been given clear instructions on how this start procedure should work they should stay two by two they should run through their grid markings and as soon as the lights go out you accelerate the race is on and that is about to happen amadeus harvey on the left kelvin fletcher in the bentley alongside him watching the red lights they will go out now and we are racing here it's netted and the green flag flies a good start made by andrew howard further back he's already cleared adam ballon who was really slow away but it's al harpy that leads them into turn number one then from fletcher second morgan tillbrook in third and michael i go fourth they are all into and indeed out of riches in one piece the gt4 cars following and now down into the breaking zone of the wilson having the top two run a bit wide not as wide as andrew howard though who could lose out to leo machitsuki on the exit gt4 coming into picture and back around the head with all in one piece a clean start david andrew howard start was almost near esque but the gaps were there for him so he did a really good job around the outside nailed that beautifully and gained places as a consequence but i'm out of half he leads the way then kelvin fletcher is second in the bentley and making good progress third he's morgan tilbrook then as they come through agostini for the first time he and loggie coming under attack from adam barron and this the view now as they wriggle their way up towards hamilton and august for the first time the race start though is under investigation now that might just be to make sure that everybody was doing it properly there might be something more sinister so we'll keep you posted oh andrew howard has a mistake through auggies machitsuki needs no second invitation and dives up the inside so howard's good start unfortunately being undone a bit now as mike ligo has a good exit onto the bentley straight gets alongside morgan tilbury and goes third so the car that is fourth in the championship then the wpi motorsport lamborghini into a podium place already down towards bruno and nelson they come then michael i go hustling on and so also there is leo machita having had that win at spa he's all over the back of 77 mclaren so morgan tilbury less experienced than those around him losing places but he's just got to keep the car up there to hand it over in a reasonable position for marcus clatton he'll do the hard work armada halfway trying to get away but kelvin fletcher going with him so kelvin bellying his relative lack of experience compared to our harford he is chasing the race leader there is adam barron ahead of ian loggie and then next in the queue stuart proctor that's going to be seventh eighth and ninth then as they come up towards the timing line at the end of that one of the hour yeah calvin fletcher in his first season of gt3 racing remember amadeus harvey not he is a very experienced driver this is a really good this from kelvin so through the go then al harvey leads fletcher by four tenths of a second and there they are look the bentley is really on it now the bentley continental is good in the early part of the stim but it does sometimes chew its tyres up a bit harder than the other cars is that gonna hurt fletcher later on we'll have to wait and see i go going with them in third we are on board here with ian logging in eighth position and adam ballon right ahead of him both of these two could do with making progress but they're not exactly sticking with the group ahead are they they're not the squabbling amongst themselves confirmation that no further action comes from the race starts they're always good you're riding with ian loggie he's hustling on in pursuit of adam barron so eighth at the moment is the mercedes and actually there is a traffic jam forming morgan tilbrook's pace means now that leo machitsuki andrew howard then adam baldwin then this man ian loggie are all starting to form in a line it means the leading three getting away and the cork in the bottle is that fourth place mclaren yeah morgan tilbrook is quick we know that he qualified third but i think just a little tentative maybe uh in the early stages not tentative though is kelvin fletcher he is right on the tail of the aston martin and that bentley time and time again has been the fastest car in the speed trap at the end of the bentley straight appropriately is he gonna be able to attack not quite but he's less than a car length behind our harvey now on board with the former emmerdale actor then who turns through the chicane it does struggle to change direction a little bit though the continental so he drops back again by a car length or so so fletcher at the moment he's trying to work out whether he needs to be attacking for the lead or defending second place because the gaps are pretty comparable aren't they between alharthi and fletcher fletcher and i go so the two northwesterners running second and third dropping down now towards the end of that chasing omani driver armada harfi who to the eye is creeping away the tf supports aston martin run by tom ferrier's team leads the way then aston martin bentley lamborghini three real supercar brands go across the line together the gap first a third 1.2 seconds of michael i go does the fastest lap of the race morgan tilbury might not be matching them for pace but i tell you what he's driving a wide car and he's soaking up the pressure with leo machitsuki fifth and andrew howard next in the queue in sixth place actually six from eighth on the grid isn't quite as good as he start made it look uh yes and he made a mistake in the third sector that time because he dropped back considerably from the chitsky over a second behind the lamborghini now so a little moment there maybe uh for andrew howard who is known for being quite cautious at the start normally but he really did see a chance didn't he off the line at least to make some progress he's failing to sit again now though till brooke possibly just warming to the task here as well getting himself into the groove drops down onto the brakes into agostini then leo mcchickey the winner last time out remember has a 10 second success penalty to serve so machitsuki being buried here in the pack this is not good is it it's not but he hasn't yet been able to find a way through which is a surprise actually because leo is a much more experienced driver we've got the first track limits warning coming it is for ian loggie number six the mercedes and now look the gap is building between the race leader and this fight for second place in gt4 in the meantime uh you've got the toyota supra going through john ferguson battling away with the matt topham driven aston martin 61 mustang however he's going nicely in gt4 will more at the wheel of it mccloud's being led at the moment by number three alabama ahead of will burns bmw james kell after his dramas at spa he is third in gt4 mustang is fourth and then there's the next wave of cars if you like going through john ferguson in the supra keeping the aston at bay for now and also on the back of that you've got the assetto motorsport geneta which is another cart to watch mark samson at the wheel yeah the battling in gt4 is brilliant isn't it toyota aston martin mclaren and janetta were battling away there there is the katy milner driven rjm mclaren the third of the uh rjn cars in the class at the moment but all of them running in the top five and this is exactly the tonic they needed i think uh after what's not been an ideal start to the season for them katie uh leading the way but her teammate alan velant number three comes out of murray's corner he did have a point nine of a second advantage over will burns i'd say it's maybe growing a fraction on this lap will burns championship leader though comfortably in gt4 doesn't really need to take too many risks here they go through and the gap has gone out by a tenth also yeah long pretty experienced in terms of gt cars in as much as he's graced mclaren's he's raised briefly in lamborghini super trofeo has done a lot in formula four and he hangs a wheel out there onto the dirt doesn't he going out of riches the first corner so anavalo still leading by over a second but little errors like that are gonna cost him 57 will burns bringing down the gap ever so slightly and james kell doing a good job in third the former toyota driver defecting from the japanese brand to the british mark and redeeming himself after his spa accident which happened on his out lap on the friday uh yeah their weekend really was over pretty much before it'd even be good wasn't it but that car as we said a new chassis for them this weekend and it's working well as well it looked pretty good in qualifying yesterday third place for them and of course no success penalty whereas the 57 car ahead of them has a five-second success penalty because they finished third in class last time out so as long as they stay within five seconds of the bmw they should in theory make it a one-two for the team after the pit stops are completed lots of curb being taken there uh by james kell who uh turns his way through oggy's then into williams and out onto that bentley straight again avoid that little rectocell barrier on the inside look at the mud that's been dragged onto the uh exit curbing there we've had a lot of rain here this week and if you run wide there is never any grip on the grass really but it's even more treacherous today they have to keep it within those track limits so there you've got going through number two james kell in gt4 this is gt3 further up the road armada leading now by 1.4 seconds and he has now done the fastest lap of the race so the omani driver means business he's stretching that gap this was the predicted race one win wasn't it because uh al harfi and eastwood good combination of drivers two quick drivers together kelvin fletcher second and really everybody else is just trying to stay in the mix what would save them is an early stint safety car to reduce the margin that harvey can build before he hands over to charlie eastwood there is fletcher second michael i go the winner of the opening round of the championship at brands hatch running third and after a pretty lean time struggled at silverstone they had that drama at silverstone they didn't really have the pace at spa they also need big points michael i go and phil keen out of this weekend yeah interesting dynamic here because i agree with you that fletcher is probably praying for a safety car but actually that's the last thing that i go wants because they've got this success penalty to serve they were second last time so at the moment he is nearly three seconds clear of morgan tillbook it's not beyond the realms of possibility that he could build that gap up above seven seconds by the pit stops and still come out in third place or phil keane on the clouds as it would be after the driver change in third so i go what's this to run green but he'd quite like to get past the bentley as well that's gonna be hard to do when the continental is nice quick down the street look at that gap grow so nose to tail they now are for second and third top speeds down the bentley straight our race vision powered by aws graphic proving that the bentley is the quicker over the aston martin's plural andrew howard and armada harfi second and third ahead of ian loggie so four front engine big grunty gt cars using all of that uh speed all of that acceleration all of that torque in a straight line and calvin fletcher perhaps the bravest of all then we know he's got good feet for dancing he's got feet made of lead presumably to absolutely snap to the boards and get every last end out of the bentley stretches the margin again look so you've got the arrow of the lamborghini but you've got the power of the bentley pulling away bit of a skirmish there the 42 audi that has joined in from the pit lane getting involved it's got damage and that does not look good richard williams i think was getting involved with amongst others matt topham and possibly also the nick halstead mclaren there but the net result is that the audi having started in the pits is heading back there and it's crabbing isn't it so suspension damage there this is what happened he goes up the inside of top and then into williams he's there he's fully alongside and top him i don't think he realized he was he turned into the apex the out he was there contact made and unfortunately that looks like the end of the race for richard williams and send and fielding they had a retirement at donington as well with a mechanical issue in the early stages and uh that is not what they wanted this attract of course that car has run at in the past not gonna happen in this one now i'm not quite sure where matt topham expected the audi to go it certainly just couldn't disappear and as you say it was fully alongside really going into the corner so very bad luck that for richard williams and yet again it happened so early in the race which is perhaps even more frustrating now have a look behind leo michiki because andrew howard he's coming under attack from adam ballen interesting the way that that aston martin he's kind of struggling in a sense largely because andrew's got to go defensive now and he's falling away from michitski one of the biggest cheers of this first stick you've got a reserve for morgan tilbury because he is still there in fourth place now his season may not have got off on a high start with that crash on the formation left at brown's hatch but he's improved greatly he missed spa so he's a bit behind the eight board in terms of track time but he's doing a ripper job in fourth place whereas adam balon here now realizes he's got the quicker car he's confident in it and the tire temperatures and pressures and he's having a really good go and andrew howard who goes wide into quorum there yeah howard got away from him down the street but we're seeing here the ability of the lamborghini to go through these uh high-speed corners through the final sector changes direction well into murray's gets the power down actually earlier than the aston martin but just look at andrew howard increase the margin as they go across the start finish line they flash past them the gap between the two is three and a half tenths and that's just too much then for balance to have a go at reaches that isn't really an overtaking opportunity though the next corner is but again he's not close enough this is the difficulty when you're trying to overtake a car that's quicker than you in a straight line you may be quicker through the corners but you can't drive through the car ahead you've got to be there going into the braking zones and he's not quite close enough outing into the pit lane the incident is under investigation it's bitten a big chunk out of it if that car goes back out it will only now become a test session really ready for race two so morgan tilbuck hanging on to fourth place ian loggie in the meantime still pressing on as he tries to get back onto terms with adam balon and in so doing loggie actually is being caught a little bit now by stuart proctor up the road ahead though there is the andrew howard aston this is adam allen's view and actually andrew howard looks like he's being spurred on because he's pulled away of it from ballot he's caught up again to machitsuki who in turn has got stuck behind morgan tilbrook so mia machitsuki having a tough time with this he cannot make the progress that he needs to do in fact most people finding it difficult seemingly around the nature of this circuit to be able to overtake easily at least at the moment yeah machitsuki i think had a go at till brook into wilson it didn't work and that lost in momentum then which i think is why uh andrew howard has been able to close in a little more uh the wpi lamborghini already a little dirty it must be said gets a bit more mud on it because it runs wide out and nelson just picked up a little bit of that uh dirt on the exit off the corner on board with fletcher looking back at the lamborghini which is wriggling its way through um quorum breaks significantly later look turns into the corner well but uh i go having the same difficulty here that uh chitsky and balon are having behind lamborghini's put through the corners but they're just losing out down the streets gonna say yes you've got the venture that's really good in the straight line so here and bentley straight and then the aero friendly lamborghini that uses that arrow all the way through the twiddly bits to bring down the gap and then watches the vent they storm away on bentley straight so it uses the next few corners to catch back up and watch eventually storm away over the line here we go up the inside tries to go michael i go that was a good late breaking move but didn't work no this is though the lambo friendly section of the circuit heading towards this paperclip style infield yeah he should get a good exit here from palmer's the next corner is a place that you can dive on the inside but actually he didn't come off the corner that well we noticed a spa didn't we a couple of weeks ago some of the cars were struggling to follow the other cars through the high-speed corners and uh these gt3 cars we don't talk about aero a huge amount or as far as dirty air is concerned but it does seem to be a little bit of a factor at least and maybe that just prevented i go from being close enough off palmer's to have a go into agostini for all easy goes tighter line for the lamborghini then uh and he's gonna try and maybe build a challenge down this back straight let's watch the speed as they come off the corner right up over the exit curb but fletcher knows that he's got that extra mile an hour or so in his back pocket he may be dropping back from the leader but again he builds the gap over third place and you can see the way the lamborghini falls away again remember this is the fastest car at the end of the bentley straight just under 155 miles an hour through the speed trap and the lamborghini not in the top five so stands to reason the gap's going to open up now though through bomb hold down towards corum the lamborghini with the arrow advantage sticks to the ground brings down the gap closes for turn 12 which is the left-hander they're coming up to now the last corner on the lap but then the bentley's gonna pull away so up front ahmad al-harfi last time around he was 2.8 seconds to the good there is the oman racing team aston goes through let's see where we are with 2.8 seconds last time the gap this time around is 3.3 they're in second is kelvin fletcher third is michael i go in fourth is morgan till brooke fifth is the highlight of penn uh lamborghini there leo machitsuki sixth andrew howard seventh is the green lamborghini about a balance eighth there the pink panther mercedes he's number six and loggy at the wheel of it ninth is stuart proctor and then in tenth place number 33 the porsche of uh james jennings the incident between by the way richard williams and matt top and will be looked at after the race uh yes and the audi by the way for lucas reports has rear suspension arm that has been broken after that contact which explains why i was crabbing mistake there free and logging going into palmers runs a little bit wide as stuart proctor been able to uh use that as an opportunity to attack vloggy is sort of defending isn't he down to agostini but then pulls back onto the racing line so proctor is not close enough to have a go i thought yeah stu it was a couple of seconds behind him at the start of the lap now that is the car that was leading in gt4 not that one the one behind it that looks like there is a problem here for alan valanti he's lost the lead there was smoke out of the car and into the pits he goes drama for the erstwhile gt4 leader so i don't have a lot down the pit lane the rjn mclaren with a drop it's a puncture is it he's certainly got yes a left front has gone down so alan with a front left puncture in a sense that's good news because that you can sort out and send back into the race yes it's going to be time lost he'll hopefully stay on the lead lap but the good news is it's nothing more sinister nothing mechanical the question is how's it happen has he run over a curb or is that an actual failure within the tyre and could it happen to anybody else when it gives us a new gt4 leader it is will burns here in the bmw the century motorsport car takes over the lead up into second place now becomes james kell 1.3 seconds back so one mclaren for the pits another one gains a position james kell hustling on in pursuit of will burns here they do hammer the curbs around here don't they and there are quite a few corners especially on this infield section where if you go over the inside edge of the curb you can nick the side wall on the back edge of that curving and especially if you do it on low pressures it can come back to bite you later on track limits track limits stay off the curb in that case so if that is what's happened to allah then um you could argue that he got what he deserved really but we are perhaps judging a little harshly out of all of that until we know for exactly why you can see there how people have run wide as they come back on they bring some of them up with them it could be that that's just cut down the tyre but uh the net result is alain valent loses his class lead but he's back in the race and will stay on the lead lap which is the important thing however they cannot count that as their mandatory pit stop he still has to pit again for the driver change uh within the next 10 or 12 minutes or so because we are past one quarter race distance these sprint races always do fly by 42 and a half minutes just less than that remain and as you said it's will burns that now leads in gt4 from james kell now this is the highest place of the rj mclarens in the point so actually from a championship perspective for the team this car is now sitting pretty because the car ahead of it has this five second penalty to serve so post pit stops if things stay as they are now we should end up with another rj mclaren in the class lead if if yes 42 audi officially retired 57 bmw also in gt4 category leader but james kell was about to suggest he's getting quicker he's actually dropped back a tenth or so on that lap but james here having one of his better showings sensing an opportunity to go for the lead and of course he's new to that car this year he's learning about it all the time as calvin fletcher comes under attack from michael i go this is the battle for second place the gt3 cars can make their pit stop between 22 and 32 minutes they've got a little bit further to go then in this race to try and stagger the pit windows for the two categories so you don't get an overly cramped pit lane gap widens a touch in a straight line they come up to lap the mercedes there of dave whitmore that goes through and the margin first to second he's now four seconds kelvin fletcher a bit busy trying to sort out the traffic that's dave whitmore's view he's lost track position if you like to the bentley there goes michael i go you see the speed differential between a quick gt4 car and a very quick gt3 now although i go lost out in that instance i think traffic could actually be the thing that gives him a a real chance to have a go at fletcher fletcher's exit speed onto one of those long straights is compromised by that marker we saw it in a geneta race earlier on this morning actually if you catch about marker at the wrong point it kills your speed down the next straight and that has been the big strength of the bentley so okay he gained out of it that time but the next bat marker might play into the hands of mike ligo and igor has to try and close back in now and be on his toes the traffic is an opportunity to make progress and morgan tillbrook is still there in fourth place having his best showing of the championship as you look back now from the bentley michael i go again good through the twiddly bits uses a big big chunk of curb there as you see number nine bmw the century motorsport car of chris solkel going after jack brown small winner in number 90 mclaren so this is another battle building up now for uh what have we got sixth and fifth and sixth with a gt4 and finally morgan tilbrook makes a mistake coming onto bentley straight and that means that as he goes out wide leo machitsuki is able to pounce and make a move and he goes through so finally the lamborghini goes by morgan tillbrook spun into action though comes back onto the inside line couldn't find a way through and leo machitsuki in theory should now get away but morgan tilbrook having been caught out by the traffic a little bit losing the right line therefore being put off his stride and losing the place aims to fight back but now i think the damage is down isn't it finally the lamborghini is released and that was an important move for machitsuki because it clears him now he's into clear air and look at the group of cars that were right behind he's likely to fall behind all of those because of this 10 second success penalty so needed this clean air he needs to try and build a gap now over the next well less than 10 minutes before that pit window opens to try and limit the damage that will be done by the success penalty and therefore limit the number of cars that dennis lynn has to try and overtake in the second part of the race although a dennis leading charge through the field is something i would quite like to see absolutely the number three mclaren's puncture inner edge of tyre so not curb related think to the team but uh everybody now will be monitoring tar wear over the next hour so relatively cool day as well so it's a curious one that i said it could have been something on the racetrack that they ran over now here in gt4 you can see nick houston under attack from that top of man michael i go into the back of calvin fletcher who was delayed in the traffic the bentley half spins it was a good save and michael i go does exactly the right thing sits behind him didn't gain the place because he even have to give it back after the contact but the lamborghini has got damage and michael i go now has got body work rubbing against a tyre concertina effect in the traffic how badly damaged are either of them i go now tries to make the move again for position but calvin fletcher did a good job of saving that and i go perhaps it for the way that he backed out of it didn't take the place yes good as you say how much damage he's done because that's quite a lot of tire rub isn't it the bodywork is really starting to rub and he's fading in a straight line more than usual i'd say windscreen wipers on look for kelvin fletcher as he dives off the inside of the new justin martin but that i think is going to be too much damage to wait it out ideally he would want to wait until the pit window opens before he pits for repairs and sort of add that into their normal uh pit stop sequence but i think that car might have to fit earlier than that we'll wait and see because he might now with the window being open for gt3 to be able to combine the two it might be that that grinds away equally i go would come in early anyway to give way to feel keen all the answers will be in early so that might have come at exactly the right moment in comes kelvin fletcher in comes michael i go he will come a chips game will come till brooking will come andrew howard so virtually everybody in gt3 comes in the one that's missed the window because they were so far up the road is our mad al harfi so this is going to be quite interesting because he's going to have to do an extra lap relative to the other ams from the equivalent stim this is barwell land where the two lamborghinis are in at once they go nose first to keep the space in the pit lane rather than being flush against the pit boxes there is andrew howard there is ian loggie so a gt3 car 70 seconds line to line plus these ten seven and five that andy was explaining earlier on so one or two of the pit stops are going to be that little bit longer an extra 10 seconds for machitsuki seven seconds for michael i go and five for stuart proctor yes so they are going to address the uh damage on the right front corner then yes i've forgotten it's an earlier pit window here at snatterton than we would usually see quite a long way before the half race distance in the end so 10 extra seconds then for the 63 lamborghini there are seven extra seconds for the 18. it gives them seven extra seconds to repair the damage i suppose without actually losing any time seven seconds more of tank tape exactly yes and uh those mechanics are well trained they can put an awful lot of tank tape on in extra seven seconds out goes sandy mitchell then at the wheel of the number one car the reigning champion but there the first car out of the pit lane will be the bentley of martin plowman team manager of number 18 the wpi lamborghini has to make contact with the race director uh we have on the timing screen the message the incident is under investigation and pretty quickly up comes the message that peter daley wants an audience with the team manager of the wpi lamborghini which is there back on track jumps ahead of dennis lynn then so phil keane ahead of dennis lin because of the extra time spent the success penalty if you like the winning at spa so it's going to be a jumbled order in gt3 and gt4 after the pit stops sandy mitchell takes over now from adam balon in number one yes so uh plum and then in the bentley marcus clutton jumps into the enduro mclaren johnny adam is in the aston martin that we can see up the road and we are on board with the um number one off sandy mitchell there is the race leader amidal harvey who as david was saying was almost too fast in his opening stint and he ended up getting to the pit entry a little bit before the pick window opens i had to do an extra laugh now because they have a healthy lead i don't think that would hurt them too much charles eastwood will now jump on board the irish driver we know he's very rapid he's been racing aston martin's over in europe recently with much success she's looking at the bentley to try and assess any damage on that left corner it looks fine doesn't it i mean we know the bentley is a big strong beast but the lamborghini rattled into the back of it it had body work ripped and uh bodywork folded against the time but bentley just breezes on as though um it swatted away a fly really it looks absolutely fine doesn't it yeah it's the right rear corner is there they're left really really sorry and i mean there's a little bit of damage but i don't think they'll even be feeling that so uh yes lucky escape then for uh martin plowman and now well kevin fletcher now martin plowman at the wheel and this car we think should still be in second place once this all shakes out he's coming through quorum into maurice there goes uh charlie eastwood out of the pit lane he's going to get out of the pit lane almost before the bentley gets to pit entry so that's a a decent advantage there for eastwood now plummets had one extra lap to get up to speed but that is a big old gap it is but it's a slightly false gap in a sense in as much as the gap stretch because of the contact and the time lost while kelvin fletcher was saving the slide so it's not a pure reflection of the pacer by the car because some of the time was lost uh through that moment and also being stuck behind the traffic but charlie eastwood versus martin cloud but 9.9 seconds the starting point uh this is going to be very interesting indeed as here look number 40 mclaren of nick halstead tries to fend off matt topham they have got mark sansom in the asceto motorsport geneta chasing them down assetto with the ginetta there look next in the queue that's going to be taken over by charlie robertson and it's going to fly so there's a lot to shake out of gt4 the pro am fox motorsport mclaren swoops through quorum down towards turn 12 and of course the gt4 pick window will be opening after 28 minutes to the 38th minute of the race so out of murray's they go then on to the pitch straight and they will of course not fit yet because that pit window is not yet open matt topham of course similar really to calvin fletcher looking to get away with that contact it was contact that broke the suspension on the audi but next to no damage on the aston martin so these big front engine cars they do seem to be a bit more robust maybe than some of the mid-engined cars around them out of rich as he goes looks to the inside he's not close enough though mclaren's strength very much on the brakes he gets into the corner later on the brakes but still maintains a tighter line and there you can see the keycap racing porsche trying to work its way through and that is greg kayton now on board on his outline from the pits well that's going to be quick isn't it 33 greg cayton a former forward racer back in the 1990s raced tvr tuscans for a time and now working his way through the traffic so charlie eastwood led by 9.9 seconds let's see whether that gap is gonna go up or come down through goes the aston martin there in the background is the bentley and nine point nine he's down to five seconds then so the fastest left of the race down by uh there martin plowman and then bettered by marcus clatton and then bettered by johnny adam and then bettered again by elmer berman so as each car crosses the timing line changing change in change this is how the bentley lost the time and the lamborghini picked up the damage there was a bit of a gap on the inside actually michael aigo didn't really commit to the gap he just couldn't stop in time yeah this might tell us more we're on board with fletcher so ahead of him the gt4 traffic that he's about to laugh are side by side fighting for position so he has to really break early and you're right i don't think argo was going for a move as much as he just breaks significantly later than the cars ahead it's still ultimately on i go i guess not to make the contact but no harm no foul really if anything the lamborghini came out a bit worse for the damage so they may just get away with that yeah i think kelvin fletcher breaks early because of the traffic and that's what caught out my goligo in fairness to him uh so uh and again paul marks for not gaining the place sat back realized he was at fault yama burma then faster slam for the race but that five second gap down from nine point nine to five seconds between eastwood and plowman i know that charlie eastwood when he left the pit lane was still accelerating so again it's not necessarily a true reflection but on this lap what you are seeing is that in sector one the aston is quicker than the bentley said the gap stretches by four tenths in the first sector of the lap alone yelma berman hustling on behind sandy mitchell dennis lind after the 10 second delay of the pits he's down in seventh place 18.6 seconds off the lead the pit stop for 77 marcus clapton's car is under investigation and as you see it is pit stop time for gt4 uh yes so in has come the race leader which was the number 57 and he's not actually will burns has stayed out so similar thing i think the field was split there based on uh when exactly the pick window opened so we've got half the gt4s in but the leading half of the class have stayed out through the gt3 leaders almost identical lap times there between the top two but again clutter is faster than plow them and joining adam a little bit faster than him so they're all continuing together out gets dave whitmore meanwhile from the uh number 25 uh mercedes in will jump jake giddings there scott mckenna will get into the number 15 toyota watch for that car to move forward in the in the second half the race and we understand that phil keane aboard number 18 the michael i go lamborghini is going to get a 10 second stop go penalty for causing a collision indeed it's on the timing screen 10 second stop go penalty for the red lamborghini for causing a collision so you could argue given the way that they had the same positions coming out of the corners going in that's on the harsh side but driving standards are being very very carefully looked at after donington and after spa so a 10 second stop go for phil keane uh that's even worse in a way than the 10 second pit lane uh penalty isn't it because you've got to do the drive-through element as well so there is 18 and it's going to be a delayed 18 the news will get through to phil keane all he can do is press on regardless but that's going to drop that car down the order dennis lind by the way fastest lap of the race there's a surprise he is uh in eighth position he's actually the next car behind uh phil keane um yeah i do agree i think that's a bit harsh no no the positions didn't change and the lamborghini came out of it worse but uh anyway that is the decision that has been made right gt4 pit stops now really do begin in earnest because the leaders are in so the 57 bmw the one that was sort of obscured behind the number nine that will have its five-second success penalty to serve new bridges aston martin has seven seconds and the green and white number 90 valve motorsport mclaren has ten the other car that has a success penalty to serve there are four on gt4 is the number 40 fox motorsport mclaren because nick holstein and jamie stanley were third at donington that didn't race at spa and if you miss the race immediately after you're on the podium then you have to carry that success penalty over to the next race that you do race in so they are serving with penalty and i fear that trouble is brewing for number 77 as well because the enduro motorsport team now being told to get in touch with the race director so there could be something else in the system as a real battle pat builds up here nicely berman on the back of mitchell who is on the back of johnny adam fifth sixth and seventh play run on the road uh it is dennis lyndon as i say with the fastest lap of the race so a winner two weeks ago in british gt for lamborghini racing audi last week in the 24 hours back to a lamborghini different circuit totally different layout from the spa and that much flatter of course but dennis lynn leaping from car to car and looking to try to gain ground before the end which is 28 minutes away lead gap 5.4 seconds last time charlie eastwood stretched the margin slightly again over martin plowman and do we need to worry about number nine with the bonnet up i know they have a bit longer to serve in the pit lane 14 seconds extra because it's a silver car but bonnet up should we worry uh it's never a good sign is it it normally means there's something that is at least a concern to the team whether it's uh an actual issue or something they can live with for the remaining 27 minutes or so we will find out in due course i'm sure lucas will be on the case out then go the gt4 cards it'll take a lap for the timing screen to update but we do expect all things being equal but it should be the number two mclaren that inherits the lead there it is jordan collard heads out of palmers i can see no gt4 cars ahead of it so i do think it's in the lead with the 57 car in second now it's gonna be fascinating isn't it to see uh whether or not that cut that's a gap comes down can gus burton close in on jordan collar that ain't gonna be easy this is jordan's view then that part of the collar dynasty brother ricky gt racer dad rob reigning british gt champion touring car race winner uh late grandfather mcduffie collar hot rod legend they're over the timing line goes martin plowman once more gap 5.6 seconds uh then third he's clapping fourth is adam fifth is mitchell sixties bourbon seventh is dennis the betis there he is dennis lind with the balwell run pack of highlighter pens the multi-colored lamborghini he's done the fastest lap of the race remember he's got to overcome the ten seconds extra served in the pit lane take that away he'd only be five seconds away from the leader and it's five seconds between eastwood and plowman so actually that would have been a comparable uh front-running car where it not for the success pit stop so that really now needs a safety car to bring it back into the game problem for number nine was an oil leak apparently chris salkell couldn't see anything in the car they were topping up the oil which is why they had the bonnet up so it's still leaking but they hope they've got enough oil in the system now to make it the remaining 26 and a half minutes so thank you to brian lucas for that update oil's well that ends well yes bmw then hopefully to survive to the end they can they can run it for 26 more minutes i'm sure fingers crossed but they're going to be at the back of the pack aren't they now andrew gordon cole but when he goes back into the when the car goes back into the race will be the last classified car he came out just behind michael benny in the delay he'd been the three mclaren has made an extra pit stop so that sort of tells you how much time they lost with all of that uh on board with that yelmer berman then now yama berman was pretty quick in his qualifying session yesterday in fact he stuck this car on the front row for race number two later on for the time being though he has resigned to fighting for fifth place here with sandy mitchell with whom we ride on board looking out through the rear diffuser of the balwa motorsport lamborghini that doesn't make the point earlier wrong with two races here a couple of years ago and that he's a car off the road jake giddings at the sicily mercedes getting it all wrong through the infield so thankfully he had the good grace not to involve anybody in that but that's the last thing you need when you're trying to get up through the order yes that will of course andy mitchell and yelmer bourbon's attention and also johnny adam who seems to have been really delayed in all of that because johnny is now really feeling the pressure from the lamborghini behind aston martin lamborghini and mercedes nose to tail then through rich's corner as the gt4 traffic once again starts to play a part there you can see look johnny adam goes to the inside doesn't sort of fully commit to it but that puts killings on the dirty side of the road there's no grip there and there's even less on the grass he actually did quite a good job to save that i hope there wasn't contact the gt3 against gt4 tends to go down like a cup of cold sick in race control here's a look from on board i think it was jake getting just as you say getting on to the outside line and running out of traction missed the marker board just rally crosses his way back onto the circuit uh so johnny adam pressing on uh he's taking this train of mitchell and berman with him hunting down marcus clapton last time the gap was 1.4 seconds but actually the mclaren fractionally the faster of the two cars johnny's problem is he's having to defend as much as try to bring down the gap against the third place mclaren uh and clutton was seven tenths faster than martin plowman ahead of him who was 1.9 seconds ahead at the start of the lap so third place is catching second place and when he does catch second place i think 456 will catch him so he could end up with a five-car fight here for the minor podium places no one though can keep pace with charlie eastwood he completed his previous lap in one minute 49.654 more than a second quicker than martin proudly in second place and the only driver in the one minute 49 so eastwood and al harvey looking good for the win back to gt4 quickly number nine bmw back into the pit lane so this uh oil leak i'm afraid he's more serious than we thought it was going to be as they're in the background yama berman runs wide over the curb still hustling on behind sandy mitchell through core and they come down towards turn 12 at the end of the lap there johnny adam just up the road ahead as they wriggle up towards the timing line once more so their second is martin plan when there is nothing seemingly he can do now about charlie eastwood who is in a class of his own uh the bmw's engine absolutely covered in oil we understand number nine but it's out of the race now as six seconds is the margin uh eastwood to plan when marcus clap his third johnny avenue fourth sandy mitchell 50 over burma six dennis now they're into the pit lane and that's not a schedule stop either number 90 so that is jack brown who is in and is that still within the wind though is my question because he has come in i think that's a bit too late but he might just have prepped him with a minute to spare he didn't look at the time that he came into the pit lane there so number 90 has a question mark number nine he's out of the race with the engine bay absolutely covered in oil and having said the gap was six seconds eastward to plummet aston martin to bentley just to be really precise and it's a good aston martin type gap this it was 6.007 seconds over the bentley very nice very nice i do enjoy it when that happens uh so eastwood then uh yeah it was a bit slow on that that wasn't me but uh marcus clutton is charging on we haven't heard anything else about endura motorsport getting a penalty they were summoned to raise control weren't they about 10 minutes why did i say that uh drive through penalty for marcus clinton in the number 77 mclaren timing andy uh yes i really should have learned how shouldn't i uh pit stop infringement the reason they're getting held up in traffic anyway and so as i confidently predicted marcus clutton is going to have to serve a penalty he might not even be in third place when he comes in though because that traffic did him no favors at all indeed so and johnny adam is closer taking his fellow scott sandy mitchell with him but what the infringement was we're trying to get to the bottom of but either way it is bad news for marcus clatton because that's going to have to serve a drive-through penalty so not quite as draconian as befell phil keane but the mclaren should be in to get it out of the way just to an extent getting out of traffic for the moment and then it'll put him back in but no carried on for another lap and look while all that's been going on dennis lind is almost up with him dennis absolutely flying he's one of the best things to happen to british gt many a yeah uh lamborghini champion blancpain gt asia champion and a good character as well as successful and busy as he is in esports as real world racing [Music] and he comes out of the wilson hairpin on the back of vloggy loggie is all over sandy mitchell uh like a rash younger berman i should say ini and loggie's car the ram racing mercedes so younger berman on the back of mitchell and having to defend now from dennis lind this is all building up nicely in fact while sandy mitchell defends fifth so johnny adam is just edging away ever so slightly yes although traffic possibly playing a part in that as well because he's now stuck behind the uh number 90 uh gt4 mclaren loggia sorry bourbon a bit wide there lin sees an opportunity here dennis when he won two weeks ago didn't really have to overtake anyone apart from the gt4 cars did he dominated that race and when he got in the car the car already had a big lead now though we're really going to see what his racecraft is like we know he's a feisty driver and he's right on the tail of bourbon they will both go up the inside of ashley marshall last time outside gt4 winner but again linda's gonna have this issue isn't he with the mercedes it's gonna be quicker down the street the lamborghini better through the corners he's gonna have to rely on bourbon getting delayed somewhere oh yeah but this is dennis lynn we're talking about and he's gonna have a go on the outside line if he gets the job down and yelmer berman moved out of the way i think he's got a problem uh he didn't put up any fight and that car doesn't look as quick as he should and he's got nothing in retaliation so the ram racing hasn't got a puncture is it low on the corner either way he's got a problem but yelmer berman is heading for the pit lane is it low or is it oh my eyes deceiving me either way it's got a problem but yelmer berman slowly making his way round to the pit lane so brynn on your toes if you will for us i think it's the front right have a look at the front right on the mercedes still just the poise of the car doesn't look right and as it comes in i think the front right might be low so that if it is another tyre issue it's a different corner but there it comes down the pit lane it's slightly tilting if you want to keep coming back to my entire concern and is it the right hand side right rear is where they go to so yeah it is a right-hand side tire issue the team goes to work so it's an unscheduled start but the question is going to be where was that picked up and how well yes indeed this car uh third in the championship is a quick tyre change by ram racing so efficient work there to get him back in the fray but uh a lot of damage done they are gonna be very grateful for the fact that they're on the front row for race two later on that's gonna now be their only real opportunity to score big points this weekend less than 20 minutes to go then we're into the final third of this fifth round of the intelligent body british gt championship charlie eastwood has an 8.6 second lead over martin plowman who's a second and a half ahead of marcus clutton but clinton has a drive-through penalty to serve for a pit stop infringement meaning johnny adam should inherit third position in gt-4b while there is your race leader gus bernstein jordan collard is the race leader number two because burt number 57 is second this the fight for third harry hayek with scott mcgenna i told you it was spectacular to watch scott mckenna and he's challenging here for a podium not only that he's also leading the gt4 pro am element ahead of charlie robertson in the asceto motorsport geneta so the speed works toyota then at the moment has the place they swooped through the rider bomb hole down towards coram the toyota inching up onto the back of uh harry hayek the australian next single seater racer but scott mckenna ginetta champion porsche front runner last year throws the car into the corner and off the road has gone matt cowley which doesn't happen very often the mustang gets back onto the tarmac but he's had a wild old ride there hasn't he coming through quorum and this is how he did it he got forced out wide by the bentley just put him offline a bit like we saw with jake giddings but the mustang swaps ends thankfully he doesn't hit anything solid that will have delayed matt cowley the rochdale based formula forward racer raced in the states for a time in single seaters but good to have him back in gt falls much underrated driver underfunded but underrated driver is matt county it's good to see him going well in this car run by michael jones academy motorsport team that car now drops down to 16th place overall yeah sixth in class he was running fourth so two places lost then within the gt4 category for the mustang as meanwhile the gt3 cars are carving their way past now some of the gt4 leaders but is that not twice past the pit lane for marcus clatton so he's still not taking this penalty if he keeps ignoring it he's gonna find himself in hotter than hot water yeah it's not gonna go away is it i mean they might well be trying to argue the case uh behind the scenes but uh yeah you are gonna have to come in and serve that penalty this time marcus i think yeah and the ram racing issue is that they ran wide at turn one uh so maybe a little bit of debris or dirt on the outside of the line so on the outside of rich's offline ran over something punctured tyre yamaburman brought it back it was obviously a slow puncture because it was only towards the mid or end of the lap that it really started to be a drama there is number 11 martin plowman and you can see third fourth fifth sixth all bunched up together now as they drop down through the old s's number four harry high ahead of the pro am leading toyota of scott mckenna so really being able now to show us what he's capable of taking over the car from john ferguson who's kept out of trouble in his stint and these two nose to tail they are fighting for third and fourth within gt4 but they're in different classes within the gt4 division yes and because of the issues both of these cars have had so far this season really it's the individual class championships they're sort of going for rather than the outright gt4 series which has been dominated by century motorsport could exit there from mckenna might be able to challenge into riches which is where marcus clinton arrives still on the racetrack so i agree with you i think that's three laps now and he's past the pits and not served the drive-through penalty so either it's been taken away and we've not realized or he could be in for an even stiffer penalty in a moment or two i can still see a board being held up by the marshall's opposite house that says drive through i can see two lamborghinis nose to tail the sandy mitchell here is coming under attack from dennis lind then so fifth and sixth and this is nervy times for the barwell squad mark lemme are watching all of this from a spanish holiday but he's got his two cars here fighting over track position and the last thing they need to do is to make contact as they turn their way out of agostini lind looks the quicker but sandy mitchell the reigning champion knows exactly how to defend doesn't he it's happened before on more than one occasion that barwell's lamborghinis have come to blows and uh let's hope that we don't get another example of that uh here today through auggies they go lindy's clearly quicker though carrying a lot more speed through the turns the body language of that 63 lamborghini is an attack attack attack he wants to get past the number one car as quickly as possible but the thing with gt racing especially uh at this level there are no team orders both of these cars are in the championship fight they're both being funded by their own drivers really and so although i'm sure barwell would love to get on the radio here and say sandy dennis is quicker than you i don't think they will those detail they run just going back to gt4 jordan collard leading so he could be on for a third win in five races at snatterton and to give mclaren this continuous winning streak of at least one win uh at each british gt event since the 570s debuted here in 2016 meanwhile johnny adam hustles on does that mclaren peel into the pit lane ahead and the answer we'll wait and see because the cars come up towards the line i see no mclarens in the pit lane so marcus clapton has gone through again still with one pit stop to his name that i'm sure is three passings at the timing line now and so that'll be refer back to the race director this is not looking great and he's been on the timing screen so the message has been there yeah yes uh mitchell wide first of all get back to that in a moment because dennis linda's alongside his teammate again here coming out of wilson goes from the right hand side of the road to the left he looks to the inside into palmers that's a tricky place to pass he's got his nose sorted in the door but not quite and mitchell just bends him off back to the clutton thing then either they're fighting it out and they're just stubbornly refusing to pit or maybe a radio issue perhaps they can't get the message across i know there's a pit board but the drivers aren't necessarily looking for that true enough the team manager is now being summoned to race control it's not a phone call anymore it's get your backside up here now so race director plus sense of humor failure might mean bigger penalty as their number two mclaren uh jordan collard gets out of the way of the mitchell lind battle they run through together so all the while johnny adam is escaping and the podium beckons for him because it inherit third place when classic finally by the pixel is penalized further but what about dennis lin to get past sandy mitchell these two uh as individuals get on really well with one another they're in the same team and they're very evenly matched right now both lamborghini specialists sandy mitchell now a lamborghini factory driver dennis has been in the past and look lin right under the rear wing of mitchell bearing in mind that dennis lin had to serve an extra 10 seconds in the pitch this has been a really impressive charge in his stint linda's only 12 seconds off the lead which is incredible really given the leader didn't have any success penalty uh charlie by the way still eight seconds clear of martin brown but second to third is only two seconds at third back to six there's only about two seconds as well so there goes plowman clutton's still staying out i do wonder if there is a radio issue here with the incura motorsport mclaren he stays third for the time being then johnny adam fourth sandy mitchell fifth but for how much longer we know that lindy's good through this first sequence of corners a good exit from rich's could allow him to get up the inside into wilson again he keeps having a little nibble here doesn't he's quicker through the middle part of the corner again lunges to the inside but mitchell is actively defending from him that is what the front of a ball one motorsport lamborghini looks like and it could not be closer to the rear of the number one car but this is a proper battle for position and as you made the point earlier these are two independent drivers doing the best for their customer for their ram who are paying the bulk of the bills and right now sandy mitchell hangs onto fifth place dennis linde is there in sixth and down they come then now through the left-hander of turn three down towards angostini where does dennis lin make the move he's done the hard yards of catching uh also just a quick word about yelma berman after his punch of tyre he's down in ninth place behind the pill keem lamborghini which is eighth louise proctor is currently seventh and uh marcus stratton stays out whether they agree or disagree with the penalty the penalty has been uh given an incident involving car 77 is now under investigation this i fear is gonna rumble on so um when you get to join us for race two we'll probably finish off the race one story for number 77 because there's a lot brewing i fear there mitchell here has escaped a little bit in a straight line but dennis lin really good on the brakes uh yes two identical cars run out of the same stable of course but set up wise they could be very different because it may well be that it's especially the amp drivers really that they tend to tailor the setup around so perhaps they have a slightly lower downforce setting on the number one car and that baby is just allowing sandy mitchell to get away from dennis down the street through the corners lind no doubt about it is the quicker of the two he's less than a car length behind now as they come out of murray's and across the start finish line we have 10 and a half minutes to go 26 laps have been completed this battle by the way still raging on in gt4 this is scott mckenna against harry hayek third place in gt4 is the position they're debating here and it's been a good defensive drive this from harry hillary hasn't it to keep scott behind it has and just like we've talked about in the context of gt3 it's the same in gt4 different shapes different sizes different configurations as lin gets the move done on mitchell coming out of wilson forces him out wide and he goes through up into fifth place then so number 63 dennis lind goes through and his next target is johnny adam who is only about six tenths of a second up the road it's another mega lind charge this this is how he did it andy uh yeah outbreak himself mitchell didn't he was defending and then breaked a bit too late which is easily done and then dennis gave him no second invitation to get up the inside into palm as he just squeezed the number one car a little bit no contact made and he's perfectly within his rights to do that look at the way though that he's gapping mitchell and closing on johnny adam i think lin for fourth place here is definitely on and fourth would be a good place to finish because that would be no success penalty for race two unless this penalty for the 77 stands indeed yes i was going to say he might well be promoted should be promoted to third uh if things stand as they are because the drive-through penalty has not been served uh the penalty has not been rescinded it has been given but has not been taken so johnny adam is trying to close on marcus clutton of course johnny now uh not being able to think about the championship because he'll never outscore andrew howard this year a little bit like the yeah there was an incident here and johnny was given a personal penalty and ended up that season on different points from andrew howard going back a few seasons as now scott mckenna on the grass and all tries to prize open the door to get past harry hayek he can't do it but the toyota supra having one of his best showings of the season then speed work to run car on the back of the rocket team rjn entry bob neville's team and as they come down bentley straight it's aero versus horses and the toyota has a cheeky look to the inside but scott mckenna was too far back to really make that a serious bid what he's trying to do is force an error out of harry hayek there's another incident uh being looked at which is between number 40 jamie stanley and 27 darren turner i'm sure those cars clashed in the co-drivers hands early on in the race anyways being looked at and there dennis lind makes his move against johnny adams he's down towards term three johnny adam might prove to be a tougher nut to crack of course multiple british gt champion and there he's having to go defensive still you notice 77 has not served the penalty yes the fact that that incident is now under investigation though tells me that i think they might have actually taken the penalty away for now and they're just going to investigate it post race so uh they may not end up getting in hot water for not serving the penalty but there may still be a post-race penalty to be served instead we'll wait and see dennis lindo forcing johnny adam there to defend into auggies i'll tell you what if lin gets on with this and clears adam quickly he could actually finish third on the road couldn't he because marcus clinton is less than two seconds ahead of these two of course as johnny adam defends slightly though that will delay this pair and allow marcus to build the gap again down the bentley straight they go it's the bentley in second place at the front of picture there martin cloudman there goes marcus clinton and there johnny adam and dennis lin nose to tail through the left into the tighter right at nelson wriggled out of the corner the aston martin seemed to be struggling out of that corner a bit yesterday when i was watching trackside the lamborghinis though jump out of the tight corners remarkably quickly they're really agile really nimble and uh trying to use that now to build a challenge here against the aston martin and this then is a replay of scott mckenna going around the outside of harry hayek and coram that buys in the inside line for murray's and that gives him third blazing gt4 black flag for number 77 marcus clatton don't think that penalty has gone away that is now the race director losing his rag isn't it so a black flag which means coming to the pit lane and have a word with race control doesn't mean exclusion necessarily it means the race director wants a word but marcus clatton has ignored the drive-through penalty and the temperature of the water has increased to a much hotter temperature than it was a few laps ago so that's going to give johnny adam third unless he gets linda because dennis lind is right there behind him look we have only got six minutes and change on the clock so while charlie eastwood serenely motors away at his aston martin johnny adam is having to make his incredibly wide to keep a flying dennis lynn behind him yeah that was a bit of an all or nothing call then for enduro wasn't it they they were clearly convinced that they were in the right and that they could win that argument but it ended up costing them everything that third place what would have been their first ever podium in the championship going begging but it comes back to loading your rule book as soon as a penalty like that goes on the screen applied by the stewards applied by the race director depending on which jurisdiction you're talking about for the permit of the event it's there it is a penalty it has been given there's no use arguing about it afterwards and that's where some of the teams might not agree they'll have to take it on the chin and try and make the best of that stint now instead of serving a drive through and finishing nth the car's going to be out of the race potentially i've never once seen that penalty disappear and the race control say i actually know you are right we'll take the penalty away from you it always ends one way and that's what's happened here so marcus club then third place but will not finish third place in the race it would seem johnny adam then set to inherit the final step of the podium but with five and a quarter minutes to go dennis lind is determined to try and get it away third place would bag him an extra handful of points of course he gets a good exit there from murray's and was right under the rear wing of the aston martin down the back straight he switched though to phil keane who is attacking lewis proctor for seventh place this has not been a typical phil keen stint which tells me that car is definitely still wounded after the contact yeah i mean he's trying to make the best of it and again another place will go his way when 77 comes in uh we finally have got the car into the pit road and the race officials will do what they need to do for that so now the message has got through and very frustrating marcus clatton but as i say had he served that a few laps ago he could have rejoined and still beat him with the chance of gaining a place or two back yeah no because it was only a drive though i think originally wasn't correct so he possibly could have come out somewhere around phil keane and marcus clinton and uh sorry phil keenan yama birming couldn't he but there you can see the car is in i think it's being retired actually isn't it so up on the dolly's backwards into the garage that's the end of the road for enduro motorsport so close to their first podium in their debut season in the british gt championship it will not come in race one here at snetterton but that car will start fifth again for the second race later on another decent grid position for race number two right so this now is the battle it is for third place it is for the last place on the podium it's for greater points versus a longer pit stop in race two and johnny adam has the advantage at the moment well his job is to try and win a championship for andrew howard now uh but dennis lind of course who came into this race as joint championship leader with leo michigan his am once more points comes now out of the oh that is the brandel nelson sequence they're going to get i would offer you two more laps out of this race charlie eastwood and martin plowman remember them they are still first and second uh it is very nearly 10 seconds between the pair of them now whereas in gt4 this is now for second overall because you've got 57 bmw gus burton being reeled in by scott mckenna having by far and away his best showing in the intelligent money british gt championship and the toyota supra as well having its best showing the speedworks motorsport run car is on an absolute mission they did get a podium at silverstone but that was third place this is for second within gt4 and he's all over the bmw as they turn into the right-hander and head out onto the bentley straight then gus burton defending the toyota has caught him so quickly that you don't imagine there's gonna be much that burton can do about this but with two and three quarter minutes to go he wants to try and defend this this 57 car remember is your gt4 championship leader second place would put them one step closer to the title in 2021 an accident though of course would take them one step further away from it so he's got to defend this but defend it carefully oh that was a big glass half empty wasn't it here comes the toyota then to the outside into bomb hole through the right hand of the gap opens up on the inside line but they're both grunt and go cars aren't they here lots of power from the bmw scott mckenna to the outside line ginetta gt5 graduates both but scott mckenna was a champion in that class as they slide out of corum down towards turn 12 the end of the lap rattle over the curve the bmw's exit is a little bit scrappy behind them you've got the mclaren of harry haye you've got charlie robertson charging on in the geneta scott mckellar in theory should have the power in a straight line as they go through can he make the dive to the inside at riches it also depends what he's being told on the radio by the team whether it is to settle for a place or to keep on pushing uh yes well uh third place at the moment second place would net them an extra six points but of course it gives them an extra three seconds in the pit lane in the race the second race later on so is six points worth it i think six points probably are i think there was the difference between fourth and third though i might be tempted to settle for fourth place in this one out through palm as they go then mckenna on a charge it doesn't really strike me as the settling kind though he sees another position to be taken here and he's gonna try and snatch it if he can defensive line taken by the bmw but he's got to get a hurry on here because mckenna look he's being reeled in again by hayek who is taking robertson with him so the cork in the bottle right now is the bmw so scott mckenna if he can't get through in the next couple of corners he's going to end up having to play a rearguard action to keep the traffic at bay which is not what he wants this is the penultimate lap for them i would suggest race leader will come through shortly to start his last lap that's charlie eastwood uh and so the leading car i thought he might have just crept onto his last lap yes in fact he's not that far behind them on the road with under a minute to go yeah so it should just about i think with the flag this time it's going to be touch and go for the race leader uh yes so down to brundle and nelson we go then i'll tell you what this race was five minutes too short for charlie robertson wasn't it because he's really caught this group he remember was quickest in his qualifying session in gt4 yesterday so he'll be on pole position in the assetto geneta for race number two later on a lap and a bit then to go for the gt4 cars because of course they're the best part of a full lap behind the gt3 leader charlie eastwood who's heading down the bentley straight for the final time and look at this dennis lind on the tail of johnny adam but there is side by side traffic ahead and linda's got it johnny adam was delayed by the gt4 aston martin and dennis lindis threw into third place on the road on the final lap of the race sandy mitchell now gets delayed by those two as well that by the way is the jb stanley darren turner battle those two we believe made contact earlier on and turner still can't get past the mclaren but dennis lyndon has done it not only that he's not that far behind martin plowman all of a sudden so a brilliant opportunistic move by dennis lin and he might even be able to mug the bentley on the line but checkered flag beckons a return to the championship for armada harpy and charlie eastwood yeah they are going to win on their return to the intelligent money british gt championship a slow check out racing portion but that doesn't matter because through goes the aston martin to win round number five of the championship second place should still be martin plowman yes it is but by a car length or so only over a flying dennis lind who finishes third after one of the stints of the season johnny adam fourth sandy mitchell comes home and back some more solid points there in fifth now what of gt4 we know that out in front is jordan collard he's got a 20-second lead over this group this is second third fourth and fifth with half a lap to go and it is the bmw then just hanging onto position at the moment gus burton with the widest of elbows sticking them out then keeping toyota mclaren ginetta at bay so speed works rj ann assetto all lined up behind the century car what is gonna change first if anything gus person's soaking up the pressure scott mckenna tries now to get a run as they head on to bentley straight is the car gonna be close enough to make a move at the end heading down towards the esses again the answer seemingly is no a completely different world though in which jordan collard exists heading for an easy win uh paddock motorsports celebrating their first ever podium in the championship remember they took over the running of that car earlier the year the bentley that is in gt3 for second place in gt4 though it couldn't be any closer here as scott mckenna closes in on gus burton burton runs wide through the bomb hole mckenna sees a gap on the inside line keep an eye on hayek behind jordan collard wins the racing gt4 and somehow it is still gus burton in second place with one more corner to go robertson is attacking there for fourth in the class gets his sideways almost gets into the back of the number four mclaren and somehow despite all of the pressure applied to him it is going to be the championship leader gus burton who will win uh though he will finish second excuse me in gt4 you think he was for the win wouldn't you second place for the bmw third the toyota fourth for the mclaren fifth for the geneta the variety in the gt4 class this year is outstanding and that is a great advert isn't it for gt4 racing on the whole fantastic absolutely right a really good drive that by gus burton for lap after lap to soak up the pressure with the number of cars behind him building all the time excellent job done then so uh a good win for jordan collard what's that three out of five in terms of snederton visits it maintains mclaren's winning streak of a win at every event here for the 570s since 2016 and a good comeback after lots of damage at spa for uh bob neville's rjn team but welcome back to the championship tf sport i'm adam harfie and charlie eastwood take out right race honors but now with 10 seconds to serve in the pits in race 2 life he's going to be a lot tougher later on in the day uh yes it is and they will start that race a little bit deeper in the field sixth on the grid uh because charlie eastwood compared to the other pro drivers wasn't quite as competitive as al harthi was compared to the hounds but we always knew that ahmed was a quick and driver and really it was the work that he did in the first in that wouldn't have that race because the gap at the pit stops much the same as it was at the end of the race that gap then was eight point two seconds which sees amidal harthi and charlie eastwood take the victory for oman racing with tf sport martin plummer and calvin fletcher the team that they run themselves getting their first ever podium in the bentley continental gt3 what a drive from dennis lind he is third with leo machitsuki they will extend their championship lead of course over those that matter andrew howard and johnny adam fourth andrew is second in the point so not a bad result for him either then it was sandy mitchell and adam ballen the proctors were sick phil keane and mike ligo with their wounded lamborghini was seventh ahead of ram racing's mercedes also in strife with that puncture uh seamus jennings and greg kayton slowed at the end for reasons unknown but they are ninth then it was the gt4 winner jordan collard took the flag james kell did the first stint uh came into the pit lane second but they came out with a lead they never lost then it was will burns and gus burn with a terrific second place fight scott mckenna and john ferguson back on the podium ahead of katie milner and harry hayek mark sansom and charlie robertson paul sitters later on this afternoon some decent points uh from a uh fifth place in race number one and then it was world war mack cowley after their spin at korum who were next in the gt4 rank then it was jack brown and ashley marshall that 10-second success penalty rather taking them out of contention nick hulstad managed to sorry jamie stanley managed to keep darren turner at bay there uh in their little battle that was on going through much of the second half of the race then it was dave whitmore and jake giddings in the mercedes allen volant and michael banya were next then those that were in stride till brook and clinton with the black flag gordon colerick retired into the pit lane and richard williams out in the first part of the stint with damaged suspension charlie eastwood and ahmed al hardy are the winners then martin plowman and calvin fletcher third but uh something that occurred to me just then david's that we didn't really touch on during the race was the significance of that lind adam battle because they are the top two cars in the championship and of course lynn managing to get some points away from the aston highlights though of round number five of the intelligent money british gt championship abigail harvey started on pole position in the bright sunshine at the snetterton 300 circuit with kelvin fletcher slotting into second and insurer motorsports mark uh morgan tilbury in third position it was mercifully a clean start not only for the gt3 but also for the gt4 field who were being led in the early stages by the number three uh mclaren which had started off pole position that car started by alan verlant on board look there from sandy mitchell who did not get a great start from the gt3 ranks andrew howard went to the right and he got swamped and really spent the rest of the race trying to fight back contact then between richard williams and matt topham put williams out with damage suspension in the audi and the gt3 battle was as close as you like it in the early stages with a healthy lead in gt4 unfortunately triple was on the horizon for vlog with a puncture then there was contact between mike ligo and kelvin fletcher as they battled the second just before the pit window opened in they came luckily wpi were able to use this as an opportunity to fix the front of the car but the lamborghini still lost time with that coupled with the success penalty they had to serve in came the 27 and 40. they would have contact in the second part of the race whilst the success penalty 457 bmw that inherited the gt4 lead put them behind car number two in second place in the gt4 class in the second stint it was really all about dennis lind who drove past yale moberman as yalma slowed with a slow puncture off went matt cowley in the number 61 ford mustang he had a spin over corum and then marcus crook was handed a drive through penalty for a pit lane infringement he ignored it and was eventually given the black flag dennis lind and sandy mitchell were having a brilliant bar well motorsport scrap eventually the mistake came from mitchell he ran wide lynn got him at the wilson hairpin and then set about getting past johnny adam scott mckenna seized third place away in the gt4 class from harry hayek with a brilliant move around the outside at corum and then he started to attack will burns will burst was making that the widest bmw gt4 in existence al hardy and eastwood though won in gt4 a gt3 ahead of martin plummer and calvin fletcher and in gt4 there was the rocket rj and mclaren that took the victory so incredible racing there particularly in the gt4 class but in gt3 it was charlie eastwood who took the checkered flag but really the hard work done by amidel harvey in the first stint well you say hard work it looked like such a simple win for you too i start with you ahmed it was your return 2017 was when uh sorry 2013 you had a win here we thought you were gonna come here 17 months ago it didn't quite happen but how about that no um amazing uh amazing return to british gt really proud of vermont racing and what was done today alongside charlie and the team we were really working really hard behind the scenes to make sure that being away from the car for such a long time and then just announcing our new partnerships and being here it means a lot for me and it means a lot to oman as well so i'm really i'm really happy the race was very uh very clean and the star was good and i was pushing as hard as i could and it was um it was just a matter of keeping up on the track and just listening to what charlie was explaining to me the whole weekend and charlie for you you got in the car it was really a case of maintain wasn't it yeah exactly uh i had done all the hard work uh so i just had as you say maintain it as best as i could and the guys were just keeping me updated with the gap and everything but uh yeah good to get my first british gt win and yeah i'm admitted yeah very easy uh with an unbelievable performance yesterday and then see him again today so i think it might be slightly trickier in race too but well done both of you thank you well fantastic return to the championship it doesn't get much better than that does it a dominant race victory indeed and actually it's quite good to see charlie eastwood take the win because in a sense when you think aston martin's and british gt you think johnny adam and it's nice to see somebody else kind of stepping out of johnny's shadow i don't mean that unkindly to johnny because we know he's a class act four times a champion but it proves that other british drivers are able to still pedal and aston martin very quickly indeed and charlie eastwood of course part of that tier sports squad that's taken on elms wec and now british gt race winner as well and uh the amani driver there ahmad o'harpey talking to the officials and the drivers in a few moments will be called forward for the podium but uh a good gt4 win james carl uh taking honours with jordan collard bouncing back after their spa disappointment there with bryn you make it a bit of a good habit here don't you jordan it was a decent decent result yeah i got a pretty good conversion rate here so far i think i've had a podium every time i've raced here so at least in the mclaren so yeah it goes well around here uh and to be honest this is just a massive a massive shout out to our gym we've had a really tough year so far the boys have had some long long weeks especially after the last couple rounds so this is really out out to the team they've worked really hard to get us this so massive shout out to them it's a long shout out since that podium the first race of the season for yourself as well james yeah yeah it's been a long time coming and um yeah we've been pushing hard obviously made a few mistakes but we're back on the podium now and it's just great to be on the top step first time british gt so i'm really happy with that as well congratulations well done cheers thanks a lot mclarens have looked strong all weekend really in gt4 and yes i'm happy for james and jordan but you have to feel don't you really for the number three car because alan vellante with that really unfortunate puncture they were looking almost unbeatable until that point indeed so but really good to have a first-time victory for uh james kell developing nicely as a driver because he's done precious little of any stanley before he came into gt racing uh right we're going through the podiums there you have the third place dennis lyndon leo machitsuki and on a grey day like this they certainly stand out but they brighten the place up don't they and so too did the antics of dennis lind in that stint a real feel good story here for paddock motorsport as well martin plowman and calvin fletcher good friends off track business partner partners now as well but it was uh harpy and charlie eastwood for oman racing with tf sport and they return who are victorious and what a nice sight podiums lots of drivers no face masks a proper beaming smile across everybody's face it makes you think that normality is back uh yes let's hope so it is the one thing that i think everyone's missing these podiums seeing the smiles on the faces of the drivers and uh yes the champagne shower an enthusiastic one all three of those teams have something in particular to really celebrate there don't they be it a win on their return for oman first ever podium for paddock and then what a significant podium that could prove to be the 63 car as far as the championship goes absolutely right leo machits has been a big stalwart supporter of sro gt racing whether it's been british whether it's been international racing and if a title is his this year it'll be well deserved as they're the gt4 drivers step forward and for third place scott mckenna and john ferguson in the toyota supra finally having some good luck yes not their first podium but that one is the first they've really had to fight for and it could so easily have been second place except it wasn't easy because it was a brilliant defensive drive wasn't it in the uh second stint there uh for uh chris burton in the 57 car will burns he shares that second place with and then uh on the top step of the podium as we've said for the first time jordan collard and james kell first time together for those two first ever time on the top step of an intelligent money british gt podium or james kell who is pretty happy with that james has made a pretty quick climb actually he has rocketed through the club racing scene hasn't he through matron x5 racing and such a very talented driver i think he did james kel jordan take gt4 honors richly deserved and uh james who was a bit red-faced after damaging the car and free practice at spa the next race is a race winner and that will be a massive boost to his confidence the same true for john ferguson and scott mckenna uh as uh now the uh pro-am combination step forward so i think the toyota drivers are going to be back on the podium for the top step this time there you've got uh nick halston and jamie stanley jamie of course that right gt4 champion a few years ago uh when he drove with christian dick the man who runs the toyota so it's all linked together nicely does indeed uh so then uh we get our final podium underway and this is for the pro-am element of gt4 great drive that from assetto motorsport and we've got fox motorsport up there already third place for them second for assetto but it is once again scott mckenna uh and uh uh scotland and john ferguson uh who are the race winners in gt4 pro am photo to kazoo racing uk a car that has been showing this potential really since the start of last year and as we've said it's really just been misfortune that have kept them out of podiums and ultimately race wins and that will be the next target for them could they do it in race two later on i mean perhaps finishing third in that race might help them do that because it will only be um a five second success penalty for them uh so they may well be able to do it right then the championship which is what this all counts towards of course sees dennis lyndon and leo machitsu now extend their points advantage they're 105 points four and a half that is ahead of andrew howard who is still of course second place on his own then a bit of a gap back now to the struggling loggie and burman uh with johnny adams fourth place still uh adam ballen and sandy mitchell ran out the top five and look at that eye going keen down in six positions so uh a bad race when they really couldn't afford it now that's the gt3 standings gt4 has not been quite as tight just because of the dominance of the 57 squad and it is gus burton and will burns who lead the way uh we don't have the specific points for you there but we do know that they are i mean they led the championship coming in they finished second and the car that beat them uh hadn't had the best of fortune so far this season so uh the 57 car will extend then its championship lead we will have our second race for the intelligent money british gt championship later on today start time of quarter past four we'll be on air for all of the pre-race build up at uh four o'clock so i do hope you can join us later on it's been a fantastic first race of the day here for the intelligent money british gt championship that second race promises to be just as entertaining later on and we hope that you'll be able to join us for round number six of the championship at four o'clock this afternoon here from schneiderton you
