LIttle bit of Cowboyin'

he's got me and oh let's box a little bit winded as well he knows we're after him now all right let's go get him [Music] [Applause] [Applause] hey it's time to do some cowboy stuff before we leave we're headed today down to Gilbert to a rodeo it's called the Gilbert dance rodeo it's been going for a lot of years and I've been a part of it for the past oh I don't know how many quite a few so we're headed down there today but I moved some cattle out of this pasture right over here the other day and I was short one steer and the other day I was walking through this pasture to check these steers that I'm draining and I saw that steer had crawled through the fence and he's over on the neighbor's so before we leave and you know to keep keep a good neighbor I'm gonna go get that steer out of there so that he's not over there eating that guy's grass he would probably appreciate it so I'm gonna catch old lunchy lunchbox right here and go over there and see if I can get that steer wrangled back in the right pasture I forgot a brush but he's not very dirty so I'm in luck let's go get him I'm gonna take this feeder steer that's what he's gone through right there I'm gonna take this feeder steer I'm gonna put him down here at the creek bottom so I can open the gate he won't get out we'll walk him down here in the creek bottom then I can drive that other steer over in here if I need to with some other cattle and then sort them off and drive them back hey so at some point I'm sure I'm gonna have to rope this little steer but I'm trying to get him as far along in the process of moving him from this pasture over to my pasture as I can before I had should have to actually stick the rope on him and do a little Eden so I've got this gate set up right here to where I can maybe bring him down here kick him into this pasture that other gates open over there and I'll take him from there into my pasture and then he actually goes across the road so we may have to rope him to get him to go across the road but we will we'll just wait and find out on that he's liking these other cattle and he's kind of wanting to stay mothered up to him so it may be a little bit of a chore and I don't want to mix these cattle with these other cattle I don't know who's I don't know who's those are over there I don't think they're the same guy so we'll see what we get none wish I could film all this but my hands are gonna be busy I think as is sometimes the case stray cattle know that they're in the wrong pasture a lot of times and so he's kind of acting like he knows I want him out of here so maybe he'll go right where I want him to we'll find out [Applause] all right he's gonna find that first gate I think right there oh don't go by it got that gate open right there I want him to go through it he knows he's in the wrong pasture hey you need to go out that gate right there buddy alright I'm gonna give him one more chance and then we may we might just have to we might just have to stick it on him he knows we're after him now he's wanting to run around now he's not wanting me to rope him I'm going to you though he's got a chance right here to go where he's supposed to he doesn't do it I'm gonna rope him and lead him out okay okay we got him going our way we got him out of this one pasture he's over in the next one to my pasture now with the gate open so we're gonna try to lunchbox we're gonna try to go easy and through that gate before we have to rope him now he's back in my pasture if he doesn't crawl through that hole again we've gotta got him out we kind of got him where we want him now so now I'm gonna go get the gate set so I can rope him and lead him across the street so he's in this big pasture right now if I just leave him in here before the Sun Goes Down he'll be back over there with his amigos so I'm gonna put him all the way over here with these other cattle in order to do that I'm gonna open this gate right here then I'll rope him in this pasture and then we'll just go straight on across the street and over in that other pasture here's my game plan I wish you guys could watch it I'm gonna run him down this fence right here along the creek when I get in about half way over here I'm gonna rope him and slow him down and then I'm just gonna let him if he'll stay out in front of me I'll just take him right on across the road get him over in that other pasture and then get my rope off so that's the idea I'm afraid if I get him out on the street he can go either direction and won't go across the street and go in the pasture I want him in so I'm gonna have to have him contained by the time I get to that point so how many loops you think it's gonna take me you can catch him with the first one we're gonna find out here in just about three or four minutes from right now I'll let you know all right so one loop I kind of cut a front leg in there but that's alright cuz let me slow him way down I'm gonna let him get up take him across the road alright there we go we've got him in the pasture he's supposed to be in he's a little bit winded but I had to wind him just a little bit so I could get my rope off of him he should stay in here now sorry a little bounder he's got me and hold what's box a little bit winded as well good job lunchbox alright let's shut this gate and we're gonna go right through these cattle and look at him for a second while we're here here's these steers we broke in the other day they look pretty good I went to ride through them and they kind of all trotted up here at this end so I just sit here and held them for a little while we'll just kind of ride through them take a little look at them [Music] all right good stuff let's go set our gates back over here that we kind of had to move around a little bit and we will head to the house so we can pack up our stuff get down the road get to the next rodeo [Music] so we're kind of shifting gears and we're packing stuff up to go to the rodeo this weekend and as I come in my tack room I have to think of some of the things that we might need there's already a sound system set in place down there but we have to provide the mixer the music the microphones I took a barrier system just in case they need it you just never know so that is what I'm doing right now besides straightening up a few things right here on my little workbench it's amazing how much extra stuff you can get in a place that you've been using so what else do we need it's probably yet oh I need a rope and a rope and dummy because we're going to the schools tomorrow and they wanted me to be able to bring some of the tools of the trade the Cowboys use so I'm gonna take some cactus ropes over there and show them to the kids all right we're off headed to warmer climates for a rodeo that starts on actually on Friday but we're doing some stuff with the school or I'm doing some stuff with the school tomorrow so we headed down right now it's always tough to leave your place in the winter time because you're worried about pipes animals of all kinds of stuff where the dog would be I hadn't been too terribly [Laughter] you
