I thought this was a pretty informative video that showed some of the smaller bits of the tuning process. This is semi-specific to the Hondata platform but the concepts should apply to almost anything.

all right I figured I'll show everyone the basics today let's D 15 little turbo kit will eBay turbo kit seems pretty tight man it's at 50 trim t3 t4 it looks like what size what size injectors for 40s star for sure would be fun to are driven boner street cars make the world go around it's awesome alright so we need a little blowdown tube so we don't throw exhaust all through here so we're gonna go coming we got the hon dad inside and we're gonna start tuning on this but before we do I want to show you guys what's up over here look at this the Mayo is in action honda rue is que swap in the world this is awesome dude I'm so stoked so he's got the glass guys here right now they're cutting the back windows out and stuff they're getting ready to paint it this weekend so this is gonna be sick by two weeks should be painted and running so in like a week or so I'm gonna be wiring this so we're gonna do a little video on on how to wire it up that'll be fun hell yeah the honda who's coming back sequential built k-series all of it whole nine [Music] so you're looking at tuna well I'd like to help you do that so we're gonna run through setting all this up and I figured all you guys see and I figure you can just sit in on it and watch it spin all the cables of all the pencils all the parameters team captain okay so we have a stock map sensor so we are only going to be messing with these tables here there's no VTEC in this engine so we're just using Table one we're not gonna use the VTEC tables or anything else we will copy and paste over than we did here to the VTEC table and the ignition side to the VTEC steel as well just in case [Music] and the car decides to jump the map the map that way it just stays the same it doesn't care I home so we start with jumping in the parameters we have a stock map since you're on it this engine does not have a knock sensor so that can be disabled led sector very much we can keep all those just as they are stock when he did disable those protection 212 these engines running around 205 to 210 stock so as you put this around 225 and then I like the fan to come on at 180 degrees and I usually shove it off around all that everyone at 7,500 and will probably leave all this stuff the way it is at the moment we can vary that as we go [Music] change the size of this little pip is my fan of yours in the corn okay so TPS so we want to make sure we're live which is a little lightning bolt or furious and down so you can see everything we're gonna read that so you could see that number change and then I hold it to the floor and I read ninety nine point five two feet high [Music] VTEC tables fuel-injected so these ones are RC 440 we're typing portfolio there and we'll go in here and see if there's a dead pine and is not saying you have to get online [Music] stop contain gentlemen and then we can kind of you know even if you can't find the information for that dead tongue we can make that though to censor stuff we want to leave all that stuff like stock will the stock the to censor stuff all on I'll be enabled the o2 sensor disabled but this way it can just still do closed-loop stuff loose cut around nine pounds on the stock PC you and with this stock engine that's probably here we have no boost control little trims these injectors could be used probably 10% cranking fuel and that is just something you want to do to make the injector kind of snack idle stuff I like to bring it up around the thousand rpm some of them look around nine hundred hopes oil pressure and just gives you a solid like area to those are all looking good all right so we ran through all the setup that gets our engine running like I said we'll revisit the dead time for you in a bit and set up all these ignition tables so having 22 degrees on here I'm pump gas by a little hot we'll run through all here and set up all these ignition tables right away [Music] that'll get us moving and here we're just trying to keep that nation down and in that kind of thing you can change the RPM you run through all the way to you know we can make these anything but this will be fine for running it through here actually with my asking myself is huge [Music] 500 incremented gives us more more resolution to what we're trying to do here so we can have a clearer picture instead of interpolating between thousand rpms we're gonna interpolate between 500 those things and you can tighten that all the way up until it's 250 you know you can get super precise but usually five on our PM's kid just to kind of help thing just get through it [Music] but I've gotten so many requests you know and I've done another videos similar to this but you guys want to learn how to team dynamo learn through the whole steps let's just do that and since it's a stock 15 I'm gonna eat later look it it couldn't get any more basic and give you kind of the nuts and bolts to this all [Music] [Music] and they're real that will work perfect Dana's gonna sure it's done this one everything works now the map itself it looks like there so these bombshells I do want to put some fuel in here so probably [Music] set the number so it begins build my own curve [Music] start [Applause] the 12 kind of searched on us a little bit check couplers and what's your temp say it's still 177 no okay every time I had looked at it before it's at 177 so I was going back down there pretty quick yeah [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] it does have an adjustable blow-off I wanna know boost yeah that boy did not yeah all the vacuum lines injected yeah I was looking at them they look for every promise [Music] so we put blow-off valve directly to the manifold because it was teed into the map sensor and everything now we put the map sensor direct to the manifold so it has nothing to eat off a so if you want to make another rip and if it does that again I'll tighten in the blow-off valve okay get a very good picture with the boost oscillations [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] click on the different paths yeah your map sensor has a little better view now too I think the vacuum line on a fuel pressure and yep I mean that's what's team in the way ski put it's been like that the whole five we should change that no tea on that that in the mapsets are no teas on those two there's no cheese yeah yeah I don't care if in these teed up the bluff out but not close to alright so the other thing that we found the source line on the wastegate is also teed in with the regulator and he's having a problem going lean right now so we're gonna add a nipple onto the turbo to source the wastegate so in the fuel pressure regulator will be on its own again so you can see in the map out that top line is way higher than the rest I like to call that top line gives me a little bit of cushion since the injectors are so as small as they are so weird too far up the fat now reads and [Music] [Music] [Applause] a lot 197 and it's all like under control it looks like beep outside engaging in the 9 pound ring but that's because that leak we had earlier it was getting worse some water some worse now we had the weird surges because it came basically it wasn't getting anything and then it blow the gate open basically that one line man I don't know where I put it the old wastegate line it was all right here right here it was breaking okay so it actually broke off of the wastegate so it wasn't regulating it wasn't telling the wastegate how much boost was there besides how come our moose kept going up and up and up yeah no no just a little piece of rubber hose [Laughter] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] - oh one looks real smooth yeah so what bridge right the end and I trim you can kind of see that is that what you think this step is right here Brent okay I cold off and it's a tube and fin it could be heat so yeah it's a tube and fin inner core that is what happened I made a little more yeah but it was a little richer so it's just kind of sunlights RC
