jump into the fourth chapter of the book of Revelation we're going to be going right into the heavenly throne room of God but before we go any further I would actually like to introduce this incredible Sabbath School panel to my left we'll start here with brother Kenny Shelton pastor Kenny Shelton how are you doing brother good it's good to be here man it's good to have you here and of course my pastor of the Thompson Ville seventh-day Adventist Church Pastor John Lowe McCain was a blessing amen and of course the 3bn general manager mister Chuo Morricone privileged to be here amen and of course last but not least the program development manager here for 3bn miss Shelly Quinn it's a blessing to have each and every one of you we're going to have fun with this one I believe lots and lots to study and little time to study so we want to jump right into it but before we go any further Jill can you press this morning Thank You Holy Father we come before you in the name of Jesus and we just thank you for the gift of your word we thank you for the gift of your Holy Spirit and right now would you anoint our minds and our eyes and our ears as we hear from your word what you have for us and that we would not just be hearers but we would be doers and we thank you in Jesus name Amen the book of a revelation a book of symbolism deep thought and credible things to show us for these last days and as we said earlier we have made it through three chapters we just came out of a series of studies on the seven churches of Asia Minor and now we are making our way into the throne room of God and this week's lesson lesson number four is entitled worthy is the lamb and I want to go right to our memory text which is going to be found in Revelation chapter five beginning with verse five and the Bible says do not weep behold the Lion of the tribe of Judah the root of David has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals I praise the Lord for that Lion of the tribe of Judah and actually we will see who that lion is in just a few moments as we progress through this study and we get into Revelation chapter 5 but before we get into revelation chapter 5 we're going to set up for revelation chapter 4 and I'm just going to briefly mention a few things from Sabbath afternoon because Sabbath afternoon is lesson is actually helping us set up the scene for what we were about to see in the throne room of God and so the scene of chapters 4 and 5 symbolically portray God's control of history and of the plan of salvation and while we have been focusing on the book of Revelation from the earthly perspective through chapters 1 through 3 it kind of seems like the attention the focus is brought down here to earth what's happening with God's people through the different church ages but now we're going to kind of jump out of that scene and now we're going to be refocused into the heavenly sanctuary and it's interesting because it seems like the symbolic language picks up a little thicker as you start in Revelation chapter 4 go on to chapter 5 especially as you get into the seals and the trumpets which we will cover in the near future but I want to just go ahead and launch this right into Sunday's lesson because there's so much to talk about here and I have made some notes here that I wish I could cover each and every one of them there's probably not going to be enough time but we're going to high the most important parts I want to start with revelation chapter 4 beginning with verse 1 notice what the Bible says after these things I looked and behold a door standing open in heaven and the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me saying come here come up here so notice to come up here and I just come up here so his attention is being drawn upward and I will show you things which must take place after this I love this verse it kind of really sets the tone because now we can see and it kind of been a directional sense that John's attention as said earlier has been focused on what's going on here on earth through the different churches right here on planet Earth but now God is drawing his attention upward and he's peering through this open door and he's going to actually be able to glimpse into the heavenly sanctuary of God and this is this has to be a privilege for John because not many of the prophets had this opportunity just a few mentioned here Moses we know Moses yeah was taken in vision into the heavenly sanctuary of God another one comes to mind Isaiah Ezekiel the prophet Daniel was even given visions and now John has the privilege of being ushered in in vision into God's very presence notice Revelation chapter 2 excuse me chapter four verses two through three immediately I was in the spirit and behold a throne set in heaven and one sat on the throne and he who sit there was like a Jasper and sardius stone in appearance and there was a rainbow around the throne an appearance like an emerald and so obviously with you as we go through the context of this particular passage you will see that this figure who is sitting on the throne is none other than the father himself we know that as we get over into into Revelation chapter 5 the lamb comes into the scene so we know this isn't Jesus this has to be the father and I thought it to be interesting because many people would say Oh John got to see the father but actually we know that the Scriptures told us that no man has seen God and so actually what John is looking at is not God himself but the glory of God and it's mentioned here in reference to this Jasper and start a song excuse me sardius stone and if you've ever seen a Jasper and sardine a stone you know that that it's interesting they're very similar Jasper is reddish in color with black veins and the sardius stone also reddish in color but with white veins so I can't even begin to imagine as the Bible tells us you know eyes have not seen ears have not heard nor has it entered into the heart of man what God has prepared for us when we see this but yet we don't see it and to see what John has seen I don't even know that John was even in vision able to see the fullness of the glory of God but he saw something that was amazing that captivated his attention Revelation chapter 4 beginning with verse 4 notice what it says here around the throne were twenty-four Thrones and on the thrones i saw twenty-four elders sitting clothed in white robes and they had crowns of gold on their head now this is an interesting topic because this couldn't launch us into a whole another study home the 24 elders who are they and you know I have done some study on this over the years I'm sure as all of us have studied this 24 elders topic now there are two suggestions as to the identity of these 24 elders I'm not going to go into that particularly because I know that I think pastor Kenny is gonna tell us exactly who this is but I'm just going to throw out the two possible suggestions that have been thrown out there and that is they could be created beings from other worlds that have not sinned the the beings from other fallen worlds that are mentioned in Scripture and of course the second option they are the ones who were resurrected at the time of Christ's resurrection and were taken to heaven as mentioned in Matthew chapter 27 verses 52 and 53 as well as Ephesians chapter 4 verse 8 so presser Kenny's going to take us into that in just a few moments but it's interesting to know what John has seen here just to kind of step back and take it all in he's seeing the glory of God he's seeing all of these amazing colors this beautiful amazing rainbow again extending the communication of the wonderful promise that we have in God and then of course now he's seen these twenty-four Thrones with 24 beings sitting on them with the 24 different crowns upon their head it's incredible what he has seen here I want to one two verse five because we are running out of time quickly it says and from the throne proceeded lightnings thunderings and voices seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne which are the seven spirits of God now there's already been a mentioning of the seven spirits of God already in our some of our previous studies but here it is again and we see that these lightnings these thunderings what are these what are these voices what are these lightnings what are these thunderings now I was doing a little bit of studying on this and I actually did not know this until I was studying this particular subject I found in great controversy page 512 as well as the fifth volume of the testimonies page 754 this is why it makes mention that the lightnings which you see there appearing before the throne are actually get this represents the speed in which the angels and the creatures perform God's work so that's powerful and then of course the thunderings and the voices are those from the four living creatures praising God and good reference to that would be Ezekiel chapter 3 verses 12 and 13 so you know not only as he's seeing he's hearing all of these incredible sounds that you and I probably can't even begin to fathom or imagine exactly what it is that John's seen but you know we're gonna try to imagine the best that we can I want to move on to verse 5 and there's given verse 6 and 7 it says in verse 6 before the throne there was a sea of glass like crystal and in the midst of the throne and around the throne were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back now I have to admit when I what I read there's everytime I read a like what in the world like that's that's an interesting thing to see these interesting creatures with eyes on the front and in the back when I done a little bit of studying the beasts are the living creatures around the throne closely resemble those in Ezekiel's vision in which they are they're called actually cherubims these are the cherubim that are around the throne of God day and night and we're going to see in just a few moments they're chanting they're praying they're praising God all the time and they're described as being of course full of eyes as we mentioned on the front in the back and this could be understood as a symbol their intelligence and watchfulness as mentioned there in Ezekiel chapter 10 so these are not just some random interesting looking beings they're intelligent beings that serve a purpose Revelation chapter 5 verse 7 let's continue on the first living creature was like a lion the second living creature was like a calf the third living creature had the face of a man and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle are you in Revelation 4 verse 7 oh did I say you said fivers oh I apologize no that is right ok now your absolute wreck revelation I apologize revelation chapter 4 verse 7 and so now you have these four living creatures with the different faces the lion the calf the one that appears like the face of a man and of course one lakh and eagle and so what does this represent there's possibility of what these could actually represent and I think there's two fold or two phases or two understandings of this number one the lion could represent Christ pre incarnation the different phases of his ministry a lion is a symbol of strength and royalty as told to us in Revelation 5 verse 5 as well as proverbs chapter 20 the second beast of course with the calf could represent the incarnation of Christ of course oxen were used as sacrificial beasts throughout the sanctuary services and throughout the Old Testament of course the face of a man could represent Christ high priestly ministry for us in heaven and as the Son of Man he intercedes on our behalf before the Father as according to Hebrews chapter four and then of course we come down here to this last one which is the face of an eagle very interesting could represent Christ kingly role when he comes back to earth as of course the king of kings and Lord of lords of course this also represents the four different camps of Israel for each camp for instance Judah was represented by a lion of course Reuben was represented by a calf Ephraim was of course a man and Dan was an eagle I mean there's so much symbolism here and I'm getting down to my last few seconds but I want to mention here in the last closing few moments that this scene that's actually happening is happening in them in the holy place of the heavenly sanctuary there's plenty of evidence for that as we've seen here in this chapter and as we're going to see in chapter 5 but Revelation chapter 5 verses 8 through 11 I want to just read the last part verse 11 for us here and I said chapter 5 again I mean chapter 4 iq I think it recorded that wrong in my notes notice what it says here in verse 11 you are worthy O Lord to receive glory and honor and power for you created all things and by your will they exist and were created that is why he is worthy to be praised in his heavenly throne room Amen pastor Kenny oh wow that's a good setup in that wonderful we're starting to gaze right into heaven saying the activity that's going on there and to me that's always exciting that God loves us so much that he's willing to reveal some of these things to us that really encourages me to get back in the word and like they find out some more about these things and what you're bringing up here on Monday is lesson the heavenly assembly in the throne room first of all I thought right here man what a throne room that must be how big could a stone room be talking about all the intelligence everything gathering together you know God is big God's mighty nothing is too small nothing's too big for him but yet that what a throne room this is and as you read in Revelation 4 verse 4 it says around that throne we have to realize round that throne was talked about there's 24 and 20 elders and again you talked about there about the the different concepts that different people have about the twenty the four and twenty elders but notice they were sitting clothed in white raiment they had on their head crowns of gold all of a sudden that sounds good to me number one sounds real good because they're there in heaven then they have the white robes on then they have the Crown's on signifying the victory that they obtained and heaven is going to be their home and this passage doesn't remind me in the Book of Isaiah in Isaiah chapter 24 verse 23 now this is in the lexicon so as you read it just simply says the Lord shall reign I love he shall reign and before the elders he shall be glorified well this is part of the big battle that's going on and it kind of made me realize for a little bit of a fresh the great controversy the great getting together in the throne room of God once again it was because the great controversy and a great challenge and great challenge the enemy was challenging of who should be in charge this is what it's all about who's going to be in charge is it going to be Jesus God is it going to be that the enemy and so they're all coming around to say who's in charge and so we're looking at this John's giving this symbolic vision and we realize you mentioned heavy symbolism really comes into being here and I think it's still good because it gets us back into the Word of God and says we must understand this example why such heavy symbolism here and this just to give an example in Revelation chapter 5 verse 6 you turn then you'll see what I'm talking about here revelation 5 verse 6 Christ here is described as a lamb but notice how he's described atlanta's though it has been one player slain notice it and had seven horns here notice in seven eyes but yet he was what yet he was alive and comes and takes the book from God and I'm saying why use symbolism here well I'm not trying to question God's authority and how he does but you know our human mind is kind of wide the symbolism here well we're dealing with heavenly themes heavenly things that are going on way too much for for my mind maybe others can grasp it but it's heavy-duty from my mind I'm just wondering here could it be that our our language that we have our literal language that we use cannot express this this thought it can't reach the higher plane that heaven has for us and of heavenly things I think maybe that might just be it and I'm thankful that God has put it down so we can think you know the way that we should and I say a 55:8 just Gibson says for my thoughts are not what Isaiah 55 verse eight very familiar scripture but he makes it clear for my thoughts are not your thoughts neither your ways and my ways and I'm thinking about how little you know a lot of time we sit around and dig and carry on well we know so much song so know so much they both are so brilliant here how little that we really know God has been so good to reveal what he has to us but how little man comprehends really to me about the goodness and the mercy of God how little we comprehend then for instance you know he talks about our thoughts I think about my own thoughts sometime and you don't want to be that way but in human beings our thoughts are sometimes there's bitterness some time I thought their selfishness yeah sometimes there's things you want your own way there's selfishness but you know that's not the way with God's thoughts this way says he thoughts are different than ours this is always goodness always what's best for us as a people and then he goes on cuz I think man for instance I think about you know it I think about time none of us here probably we always think about time what does God think about I think he thinks about eternity as being in heaven with him you know a man thinks about self God thinks about creation his creation and then man you know he he he'd like to think in terms of just what he wants and when he wants it and how he wants it and it's interesting and what he can get and gods always thinking what he can give interesting that is that's no right quickly here you know talk about John sees the 24 elders that was mentioned here as times going down quickly and the rice God had robe of righteousness on in getting we could say 12 and 12 you know we look at all day you divide it all up you know representing God's people you can look at the 24 divisions in the priestly you know ministry and so on and so forth but God's people they overall he relations 327 says for as many as you have been baptized into what you've been baptized into Christ you have put on what you put on Christ we're talking about put that robe of righteousness around us symbol of purity a symbol of holiness and then you find a group of people they've washed their robes white in the blood of the Lamb you know that's today for us too we need to wash our robes white in the blood of the Lamb that's the only way that it can get white that's the only way our sins can be forgiven in Revelation 7 13 and 14 is what is talking about here so white Rhema then would be the characteristics of those who simply to make it to heaven and certainly you can speaks about God and speaks about his throne in Daniel 7 verse 9 and 10 24 elders they have crowns we know these crowns are what it's emblem of victory revelation 2:10 says faithful into death if you're faithful into death I will give VA what good a crown of life this seems to end indicate with the 24 elders as you were mentioning here seems to indicate that they were redeemed from the earth let's just throw this out you can study on it but it seems that they are right because because crowns are given to those who have gained the victory that then redeemed by the blood of the Lamb notice is if this refers to 24 elders as human beings that means they were already in heaven in John's day that blow some people's mind say well we realize when we go to heaven again as you mentioned the past a I think as it was in Matthew 27 matthew 27:9 52 and 53 it talks about when Christ died do you remember when he rose what happened the graves were opened many came out of the graves and seasons 482 the sled so the Saints arose when Christ was resurrected but still as we think about keep this in mind remember the main resurrection is still what it's still future this is special resurrection here so could it be that 20 and the four elders could it be the redeemed here from the earth you see this up there could it be you know representing God's people well we realize they talked about the main resurrection 1st Thessalonians 4:16 talks about it you know that's the main resurrection we're looking for the dead in Christ rise first we which are alive and remain will be caught up right to meet them in the air and and really before this apostrophe found I've never found the 24 elders ever mission before this time in scripture it's kind of first time that they're mentioned here it's kind of like they've been brought in to the scene that they're we're talking about the new new men on the block they're new to this and coming to the throne room of God they've all assemble together and then what they're going to do what they're doing here they're going to reinstate Jesus back right to his heavenly position I mean this is a big deal this is really going on and so it talks about the Beast and so on that you talked about the wings and so on and and the angels and the four living beings and so on and so forth and we'll talk more about that because the next lesson beginning it's very very powerful about the seals as we look about that seals all this great controversy all that's going on and all the gathering together we're going to see why they gather together we're going to see the outcome were together and we're going to see the one who's the rightful ruler and he said excuse me on the throne dollars 99 one says this he said it between the cherubims but let the earth be moved he said he's king of kings and Lord of lords thankful for those you mentioned those angels those flying swiftly that's doing the biddings of God God's Word right when he says that it's gone and it's done and I think it pleased God to create the universe and give life to his creatures amen and so he created what he created he now praise God he now sustains it think about he loves to sustain all things Colossians 1:17 says and he is before all things and by him all things consist so in looking at this lesson and I say it continues bring I just I think it gets better and better as we go along it's like it's giving a little foretaste in this lesson the next it just really opens up and the information really comes alive and it helps us see more what God's plan is and what God is going to fulfill that plan and that we're involved in that plan I think that's a wonderful thing and that wonderful that we are involved the universe is involved God's characters on the line we're on the line and we're going to see how it all works out and I praise God for that I think we're going to take a short break we're gonna be back in just a few moments with pastor john mccain's the sealed Scrolls lesson for Tuesday see in a media cheryl-lea save a life for eternity [Music] welcome back to 3abn sabbath-school panel we're going to continue on with Tuesday's lesson the sealed scroll with the Pastor John Wilma King thank you pastor Kenyon and past today Ryan for setting it up for me you know Revelation chapter 5 is to me where the where the race begins revelation 4 introduces the father but there's a scene that all of a sudden as revelation 4 closes it's it's its eyes it closes with the words you are you are worthy assimilation you are worthy so God sitting on the throne he is worthy to receive glory and honor and power for you created all things and by your will they exist and were created and all of a sudden John's vision is focused to his hands remember the 24 elders remember 10,000 times 10,000 are in the court setting they'll be introduced in the next chapter but John is focused on the hands of the one who's sitting on the throne be Almighty and he says in verse 1 of chapter five and I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll written inside and on the back sealed with how many seals sealed with seven seals now remember God just received the declaration from the 24 elders of the living creatures he received the declaration you are worthy you're worthy to hold the scrolls but verse 2 then I saw a strong angel now when I get that word strong the Bible talks about the power of one angel that killed 180,000 men but now it introduces a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice a man that's got to be that's got to be resonating I could imagine worlds that are out of sight or saying did you just hear that can you imagine unfallen worlds did you hear that the strong angel or the mighty voice is proclaiming and he's asking the question who is worthy to open the scroll and loose its seal and envision like like like the Magellan spacecraft John lands in the midst of a scene with this crest question resonating and the crowd is looking for an answer who is worthy to open and then verse three says and no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or look at it now let's pause no one in heaven because Jesus is not there yet no one on earth because he's no longer there thank you and no one under the earth because he is not in the grave anymore he's not in the grave he's not walking on the earth and he hasn't arrived in heaven yet so there's this this caveat well where is he is the question he's not on the earth we checked he's not in the grave we know that and he hasn't arrived yet so where it is he and the psalmist David catapult says you know I'm going to the psalmist David says I got an answer and he takes it to Psalm 24 and the spirit of prophecy talks about this glorious scene after Mary grips this the risen Savior and he says do not cling to me why have not yet ascended to my father and your father and my god and your God so Jesus says I'll be back when I get back Mary tell the disciples were to meet me I'm gonna take a little trip I'm taking I'm going on a brief excursion because there's a crowd waiting for the answer to the question I just heard them ask who is worthy this mighty angel they chose an angel that's mighty strong with a loud voice and the Lord says I just heard them ask a question I'll be back and the David the psalmist says elamite paints this picture of Jesus like like like Canadian geese heading south in the formation and he's taking as a word he's taking this lead and the angel hears the turbulence of Jesus on his way to the kingdom the planets are moving out of the way of their creator because they don't want that question to take too long to the answer and space is saying he's coming and the angel hears them and then Jesus in his in his in his post light speed is almost there and he he says because there's an angel guarding the gate there's an agent you just can't cut the angels guarding the gate any any echoes through space and time lift up Psalms 24 verse 7 lift up your heads o ye gates and be lifted up your everlasting doors and the King of glory shall come in and the angel recognizing his voices who is the king of he doesn't say that in ignorance he says tell me that again who is the king of glory who is the king the Lord strong and mighty the Lord mighty in battle the battle he just wand because the tomb is empty that's right lift up your heads o ye gates and be lifted up you everlasting doors and the King of glory shall come in and the angel who is the king of glory and he answers the Lord of Hosts he is the king of glory and he descends as it were the flame that is under him if he wore spacecraft begins to die out to slower his to slow down his descent and while John is weeping in verse 4 I went much because there was no one found worthy to open and read the scroll and to look at it at least in 5 verse 4 but one of the elders I could see Kenny grabbing my arm my name is John I could see Kenny grabbing my arm John he says don't we know behold look the Lion of the tribe of Judah the root of David has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals now got to spend a minute on this I did an entire study in the Old Testament of all the tribes 1st and 2nd Kings and the controversies see the Old Testament the theme of the Bible is in the Old Testament Satan's attempt to keep Christ from entering the world and he and he led the kings of Israel ins to such sin even eventually the tribe of Judah but the Lord made a declaration when he says I'm going to tear away the ten kingdoms from you but I'm gonna prove it but I'm gonna keep one hmm I'm gonna keep the line of it I'm gonna keep Judah so that and he says so that my light will not go out and I will maintain my witness in the air all through the Old Testament Satan's attempt was to get rid of the tribe of Judah because he knew that that's the tribe through which Jesus so when you get to the phrase in Luke where the Bible says in Luke 2 when the Bible says for unto us a child you know so there is born there's born to you this day in the City of David a savior which is Christ so if you only knew what it took to get to the phrase this day if you only knew that thousands of years and the battles and the controversy and the resistance that had been put up to prevent the tribe of Judah from being destroyed for the for the angel to say there's born unto you this day so at the beginning of this scene this day came for the birth of Christ he went through the day of his resident of his crucifixion and resurrection and now he's coming to a new day and John says behold the Lion of the tribe of Judah has prevailed and what is amazing to me is in this scene John turns in verse 6 and behold in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures and in the midst of the elders stood a lamb as though it had been slain having seven horns and seven eyes which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth that mean the Bible says the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the earth to show himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are loyal to him you lay the foundations about the seven spirits of God meaning God is completely in charge he sees the entire scene he knows exactly what's going on but then I want you to see this because God is Almighty earth worthy right and then God is already worthy to hold the scrolls who is worthy Jesus is worthy now look at verse seven then he came and can you the scene that the crowd the word cloud is and in a small world in a small because we're talking ten thousand times ten thousand thousands of thousands watching him as the word their eyes are moving with the lamb and he comes to the Ancient of Days and I could see the father was with pleasure says to his son and he begins to unfold he seal one seal two and then you find verse eight now when he had taken the scroll and the four living the four living creatures but twenty-four elders fell down before the lamb each having a harp and a golden bowl full of incense which are the prayers of the Saints Saints praying for somebody to be found worthy and then they began to save as a new song they sang a new song worthy the lamb you are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals for you were slain you have redeemed us to God by your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and Nations and have made us kings and priests to our God and we shall reign on the earth you see that's where we come into the scene we are with the you do realize all that was hanging on that the revelation of God's provinces that history was based on the worthiness of Christ the mystery of the hidden gospel was based on the opening of the scroll the mystery had that had to be known Jesus was the key to unveiling that mystery God's plan for the resolution of sin problem was based on who is worthy to open the scroll the release of the final phase of the preaching of the gospel was based on who can open the scroll and the seals contained the final scenes and our redemption thank the Lord Jesus was worthy to say now we're down to the last part and give me one second that's one revelation 12 says real quick I've never done this before but I got to do it revelation 12 verse 10 that's what revelation 12 verse 10 comes into play then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven now salvation and strength and the Kingdom of our God and the power of his Christ have come for the accuser of our brethren who accused them before our God day and night has been cast down and they overcame him by the blood of the land could not be made until Jesus was declared worthy of God we're having Church I'm not even sure I could talk right now so thankful thankful that he was victorious the plan of redemption the plan of salvation is secure I'm so thankful that Christ is one and that Satan is defeated once and for all we know at the end of the book of Revelation that there would be a new heaven and a new earth and the complete and total annihilation at sin of sin but this scene in Revelation 5 indicates the security of our salvation Jesus no perfect jail ten more seconds but just can I hit first well that's when Satan that's when the Bible says the devil has come down with great wrath because he knows he has a short time from then on his time is short absolutely that's where we're going is John 12 John 12 31 and 32 jesus said now is the judgment of this world now the ruler of this world will be cast out and speaking of the Cross and I if I am lifted up from the earth will draw all peoples all men all women to my famine so at the cross Jesus was victorious he lived a perfect life he died our death and he ascended and was enthroned at the right hand of the Father was worthy to take that seal so I love this passage revelation 4 moving into revelation 5 that whole vision of the throne my lesson is worthy is the lamb which pastor john set up so powerfully and what i want to talk about today is worship look at revelation 4 eleven they worship now this is before the lamb enters the scene but they worship because revelation 4:11 you are worthy O Lord to receive glory and honor and power for you created all things and by your will they exist and were created so God is worshiped because he's the creator but we moved to revelation five it begins the same Revelation 5 verse 9 you are worthy the same words to take the scroll and open the seal but why not creation but redemption for you were slain and have redeemed us to God by your blood I want to take a look here we're going to look at 7 principles of worship that I see in this passage revelation 4 in Revelation 5 but before we get to the seven principles you see a growing number of people of angels of creatures in this worship process you see in Revelation 4 verse 8 this is it's a holy holy holy Lord God Almighty who was and is and is to come this here is the four living creatures then we see the number increases we're here to verse 11 you are worthy O Lord to receive glory and honor and power for you created all things and by your will they exist and were created this is the 24 elders then we move down to verse 8 now we have the 24 elders combined with the four living creatures and they say you are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals you were slain and have redeemed us to God by your blood then we come down to verse 11 this is what Pastor John talked about I looked and heard the voice of many angels around the throne so we have the living creatures we have the twenty-four elders and the number of them this is the innumerable heavenly hosts of angels ten thousand times ten thousand and thousands of thousands now ten thousand in English ten thousand times ten thousand would be what 100 million but in Greek the word is myriads not ten thousand Mary hits times myriads which really means in in numerable number nobody can count the number of people that are joining in this praise session right here saying in verse 12 worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing now when I read that I think I can't get any bigger or any better than that but look at what happens next verse 13 every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea and all that are in them so now we have not only the innumerable heavenly hosts that you can't even count we have everything in the heaven everything in the earth everything in the sea you know what that indicates all creation is joining together right now and pray saying blessing and honor and glory and power be to him who sits on the throne and to the lamb for ever and ever so let's talk about seven principles of worship as found in these two chapters principle number one true worship focuses on God not on us amen do you notice here each one of these worship passages that we just read here none of them focus on us everything is focused on God and Jesus and his worthiness I even noticed there's no confession there's no repentance there's not even any giving of thanks featured here now I'm not saying that's not part of worship because we know that it's important to confess their sins we know it's important to repent we know it's important to intercede for other people but in a special sense this worship is nothing about me or my problems or my issues or my own insecurities or even my victories everything is about God in me that's principle number two one principle number two true worship acknowledges God's attributes let's look at some of the attributes that are acknowledged in this worship section we're in Revelation 4 verse 11 we're going to read it again holy holy holy so what's that saying God is holy true worship acknowledges the holiness of God who was and is and is to come God is turn off true worship acknowledges that he is divine and he is from everlasting to everlasting jump down to verse 11 you are worthy O Lord to receive glory and honor and power true worship acknowledges the worthiness of God for you created all things true worship acknowledges him as our Creator enjoy jump down to chapter 5 verse 9 you are worthy to take the scroll so not only is God worthy Jesus is worthy for you were slain and have redeemed us to God by your blood he is Redeemer true worship acknowledges our role at sinner and him as our Redeemer and have redeemed us to God by your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation salvation is for all people who worship acknowledges that salvation is not just for me but it is for everyone and has made us kings and priests to our God and we shall reign on the earth to worship acknowledges that God transforms us he allows us to reign he makes us kings and priests jump down to verse 12 worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power he possesses all power he possesses all wealth he possesses all wisdom he possesses all strength and honor and glory and bloody true worship focuses on God not me true worship acknowledges God's attributes number 3 true worship leads to praise and adoration of God jump over to revelation 5 verse 14 the last verse of that chapter and says the poor living creature said amen and the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped him who lives for ever and ever I imagine them falling prostrate on their feet before God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit before that falling prostrate to worship leads to praise and adoration of God number four true worship is given to the Godhead Revelation chapter 4 we see God the Father with re-establishes Revelation chapter 5 we see the Lord Jesus Christ and we talked about the holy spirit being present in both Revelation chapter 4 and in Chapter five number five true worship is united it's not something we do individually now of course we can worship God individually we're not saying that we can worship God in our own heart and our own prayer clubs that you can worship God but it's special way to worship here is done corporately done corporately number six true worship includes music it says they sang a new song and instruments are mentioned so true worship includes music and finally true worship invites other people to join remember they started with the four living creatures and they moved to the twenty-four elders then they did the four creatures and the twenty-four elders which is twenty eight then they added the innumerable angels the ten thousand times ten thousand then they added all of creation everything in heaven everything in the earth and everything in the sea so true worship invites other people to join I can't get over the gift of the Lord Jesus Christ the plan of salvation of redemption that was put in plan before we were even created before the start of this world jesus said in the event that someone chooses to walk away from me I like to back them back that's how much the Lord Jesus loves you and he says right now though you want to spend eternity with me though you want to spend eternity and worship don't you want to spend eternity with the Lord Jesus who died for you so I just want to make a special appeals right now make a choice ask Jesus into your heart and your life will never be the same amen and I mean but you know I can't help as I'm listening to you and wondering when is the last time you felt that your church really participated in true worship you know this is something that we need to develop a heart for worship and and that's why the lesson that I have for Thursday the significance of Pentecost is so vital because we have seen the Holy Spirit before the throne and he could not descend for his prominent ministry until the new covenant was ratified by Jesus so when we think of Pentecost you know that that was one of the three major Jewish feast also known as the feast of weeks and the name Pentecost in-degree meant fifty days this was 50 days after Passover is when they celebrated Pentecost so we know that Christ after his death and resurrection when he went to heaven on the fiftieth day after the Passover after his ascension it's when the Holy Spirit was poured out on the earth hallelujah in John 17 verses 4 & 5 jesus prayed in the garden and he's praying to his father and he says father I have glorified you on the earth I finished the work that you sent me to do and given me to do now father glorify me together with yourself with the glory that I had with you before the world was so before the creation of the world Christ had this glory that he emptied himself up to come to heaven I mean to earth so that he could become a man and save us and what he's doing here is he is now saying and and once he got back to heaven he was restored with this glory the same exaltation he appeared before the father he offered his sacrifice his sacrifice on behalf of humanity was accepted and Christ's blood if I'd the New Covenant you know in Luke 22 20 he also took the cup after supper saying this is the cup of my new covenant this is the New Covenant in my blood which he shed for you you so is shed for you so the temporary covenant with Israel what we sometimes referred to as the old covenant was also ratified with blood and I want to read that to you in Hebrews 9 17 through 19 Hebrews 9 verses 17 through 19 says for a testament is in force after men are dead that's like a last will and testament is in force after men are dead since it has no power at all while the testator lives therefore not even the first covenant this is the law of moses was dedicated without blood the book of the law for when moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law he took the blood of calves and goats with water scarlet wool and hyssop and he sprinkled both the book itself that's the book of the law and all of the people so we see that this first one was ratified with blood but this is what's going on in heaven now is jesus' ratifying the new covenant with his blood Hebrews 9 23 says therefore it was necessary that the copies of the things in the heavens should be purified with these but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices so he brings his blood back and you know jesus promised that he would send the Holy Spirit after he was glorified I love the scripture john 7:38 and 39 john chapter 7 verses 38 and 39 and he says he who believes in me as the scripture has said out of his heart will lo River of living water but this he spoke concerning this spirit so not only is oil a symbol for the Holy Spirit but the living water is a symbol for the Holy Spirit whom those believing in him would receive for the Spirit was not yet given because Jesus was not yet glorified so you remember in John 14:16 when Jesus said I will pray the father and and He will give you a loaf Parakletos another helper ILO's Parakletos one who is just like me that's what that word Alice it wasn't there's two words in the Greek for another one is Alice one is heteros headers means one that's similar Palos means one that's just exactly the same so he said he is going to give you another Parakletos because the Messiah was the Parakletos but now he's sending another that he may abide with you forever jesus said and he told his disciples in John 16:7 this is amazing he said nevertheless I tell you the truth it is to your advantage that I go away if I do not go away the helper will not come to but if I depart I will send him to you what is he saying here well in his incarnate body once he became a man he emptied himself of his omnipresence and he took that flesh back there and with him so he couldn't be present everywhere and for him to live in our hearts he lives in our hearts by faith the Holy Spirit let me the Holy Spirit dwells in our hearts and Ephesians 3:16 and 17 Paul says he's praying that God would grant you according to the riches of his glory to be strengthened with mind within Dunamis power through his spirit in the inner man that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith so that's how Jesus dwells in each one of us now it's through the Holy Spirit so since the promise of the Holy Spirit was given by Christ he's going to be the one to fulfill it right and after he received the authority in heaven revelation chapter five is one of the most decisive events in the history of the plan of salvation this is the inauguration of Christ's name into his post Calvary ministry and King and priests in the heavenly sanctuary he overcame sin and he was exalted to his Father's throne and by taking his seat on the heavenly throne at the right hand of the Father Christ is able to carry out the plan of salvation to its ultimate and you know when we think about this the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on humanity was the inauguration of the New Covenant this is this is what marked the spread of the gospel remember on the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit was poured out and they went out and preached it how many souls were saved 30,000 so the outpouring of the Spirit completed the prophecy that ushered in the church age and the new covenant in which all believers are given the Holy Spirit all promise according to the terms of the New Covenant now I want to make a point the outpouring of the Holy Spirit was a unique event this is different than the filling of the Holy Spirit to be filled with the Holy Spirit means you need to be surrendered to Christ and this is a day by day sometimes hour by hour occurs is it not because maybe is possible for us to resist or grieve or even quench the Holy Spirit but I just have to read this scripture Jesus now in the heavenlies he is fulfilling his post Calvary ministry as our high priest Hebrews 8 verse 1 says now this is the main point of the thing which we are saying we have such a high priest who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven and in verse chapter 4 of Hebrews verses 4 through 15 it says we don't have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses but he was in all points tempted as we are yet without sin and because of that because we have a high priest who understands it says let us therefore for that reason come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace in our time of need he's our mediator in a heavenly places and it is so exciting that he has been in front eclis and historically it's just dots overwhelming well we're almost out of time we have a few just a little little over a minute left I want to turn it back to the panel now for us to give give us some insight on the lesson just to something thoughts on your heart yeah and things that hit my heart there was the talk about the good news it's all about the good news of Jesus Christ nothing can change a heart nothing can change a life get the power of the Holy Spirit living inside of mankind this is what we need dedicate your heart in your life to Jesus right now and be ready for his soon coming because it's just around the corner Jesus is the only one that's worthy that's right but he loves us so much he creates in our hearts a worthiness by his character I just I just can't even I can't even I can't even embrace that I can't even fathom that but I praise the Lord for it we can't understand it but we can be blessed by it do you feel unworthy he is worthy do you feel sinful he is holy he has redemption and he has salvation for each one of us a medal all I can say is the king of kings and the Lord of lords is enthroned but he lives in your heart through the power of the Holy Spirit so day by day ask to be Fillies don't leave home without him to be filled with the Holy Spirit worthy is the lamb is well we have run out of time for this week it was such a powerful lesson that we have this way we're going to have another powerful lesson next week we want to invite you back to join us but until then may God continue to bless you may the Holy Spirit lead and guide you and we will see you next week [Music] you [Music]
