i want to spend my life mending broken people i want to spend my [Music] life moving pain lord let my words heal a heart that hurts i wanna spend my life [Music] broken people [Music] hello and a great big welcome we're glad you joined us for 3abn worship hour i mean this is i'm you talk about an exciting lesson i'm very i'm very thrilled about it because it's signs of the time things are happening in the world i think this is a good good subject and i believe that you're going to love it too as we get into the word of god because we're going to be reading bible scriptures we're going to be spirit of prophecy we're going to be just going over some things that we believe will be a blessing to you so again thank you for joining us today we're going to be talking about peace amidst the storm and some of you may in your life going through a storm right now there's things that maybe you like to see take place uh maybe it's a job maybe you've been threatened and things that are happening and so i i believe today as we as we go into the word of god there's gonna be some things that will help you we know there will be we've we prayed about our rain we're going to have prayer in just a moment but first of all i'd like to i'm glad chris that you're here with me my wife chris and i'd like to be before we have our prayer and before we introduce those who are going to help us and we need help we the first paragraph of our lesson peace amidst the storm is something that will maybe set your mind to make sure you stay with us this hour because i know it's going to be a blessing promise of the spirit okay it reads the apostle john in vision heard a loud voice in heaven exclaiming woe to the inhabitants of the earth and of the sea for the devil has come down unto you having great wrath because he knoweth that he hath but a short time that's found in revelation 12 verse 12. fearful are the scenes which call forth the exclamation from the heavenly voice the wrath of satan increases as his time grows short that i think i have to read that again the wrath of satan increases as his time grows short and his work of deceit and destruction will reach its culmination in the time of trouble and that quote is taken from darkness before dawn uh page four praise the lord so that sets up what we want to start to discuss and then we'll come back and if we have prayer and introduce so why don't you just introduce the ones we have helping us today oh absolutely sure i would love to introduce these people now they might be new to some do you suppose but just in case across the table keeping quite a distance as my lovely sister-in-law yvonne shelton i am so happy to have her as a part of my family and next to her is my brother-in-law danny and i you know even though well yvonne we're both married into this family but it feels like blood you know it really does if we need something they are the ones to call and dee said as long as they're on the set that she knew we would say the right thing [Laughter] dear lord we thank you for your many wonderful blessings and it is such an opportunity today to be able to have peace in the midst of this no matter what goes on around us that you're always there you are the solid foundation you're the rock of ages and father i pray for each person watching listening today from around the world that before this program is over if they don't have this peace they'll have it already it's something that the world didn't give us and the world can't take it that's right amen lord for giving us peace yes in the midst of storm amen that's right good thank you well i read a little something this little paragraph before we read on this i thought was interesting it says the bible knows a whole lot now notice this and but it keeps it to itself until it's consulted i thought it's very interesting that's good right the bible has a lot of information in there but it keeps quiet until it's consulted and then it tells something and we praise god for that yeah that's cute yes all right well again we're talking about the peace amidst the storm and you you set out the wrath of satan increases as time grows sure sure can we maybe establish here today we feel do we not that time is short yes now you know we're not trying to put a time frame on anything or try to set anything but you know it's more than just a date it's more than we may not be here tomorrow ourself so every day i look at it time can be really short for some of us and literally what millions around the world today time's very short because it may be their last day on earth and so we need to approach it so as we agree upon this and the bible teaching on it we know satan is active absolutely now what are some of the ways maybe we can see that he's that he's active remember in our lesson it talks about in matthew chapter 24 disciples were interested in jesus return yes and they asked for signs and you know details of about his soon coming and i pray that we all are asking those same kind of questions today even though you've been on many times matthew 24 so familiar you know to bible students but it it are we really asking that great question about what are the signs of your your coming you know when is this going to take place and so we see the devil is angry he's increasing ty knows his time is short right here we might want to read that i don't know how much of it there but sister yvonne you have that where it says that the disciples are recorded as having set with christ on the mount of olives yes ask a member of a sign and the two different things one sign and the end of the world yes okay in matthew 24 verses 6 through 8 jesus told them and you shall hear of wars and rumors of wars see that ye be not troubled for all these things must come to pass but the end is not yet for nation shall rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom and there shall be famines and pestilences and earthquakes and diverse places all these are the beginning of sorrows in this year alone we've experienced hurricane ida massive flooding and typhoons in china covet 19 covet mandates with the potential loss of our jobs and our constitutional rights along with our freedom to choose our own medical treatments the southern border humanitarian crisis the yemen humanitarian crisis horrific north american wildfires haitian earthquake tropical storm grace and the lives that were lost during the withdrawal from afghanistan and grief for those who were left behind under the taliban regime the rising cost of living and gas prices loss of thousands of businesses here and abroad and this list will only continue and so from this we see that one of the ways the devil works is through division he's dividing us he's dividing us along racial lines along you know ethnic lines um he's dividing us the vaccinated and the unvaccinated he's dividing that is his m.o and one of the things that we have to know at the end is how does your enemy work because you can't overcome we overcome by the blood of the lambs so but but we need to know how he works and his way of working is divide and conquer and that's what he's doing yes that's what he's doing and in the original greek word says nations shall rise against nation it's ethnos against ethnos it's ethnic group against ethnically interesting and that's what we're seeing matthew 24 is i mean it lays it out for us so that's what we're seeing and we're seeing all these famines and pestilences and earthquakes and fires and just as was written here so it's just a matter of knowing how your enemy works and then knowing that our enemy has been defeated yeah absolutely yes yeah because we know who who the conqueror the ultimate conqueror is we know the enemy's tactics but we also know who god is and who he's been throughout our whole lives and that's right yes he's taken care of us throughout our whole lives we don't have to be afraid i was talking to a dear friend of mine the other day and she's not a christian and she was saying i just have so much anxiety and she's taking anti-anxiety stuff and i said i used it as an opportunity to say to her i i just wish you would get to know jesus because you feel that anxiety now you might feel concerned about what you see happening but the anxiety that others have who don't know jesus we don't have because we've read the back of the book there you go so anyway i i just feel like we need to know him and know the enemy and how he works and know who our defender is that is such an important part because you know jesus himself that's why he reveals a lot of satan's tactics and warns us about it but just with that anxiety alone that is so true it may not happen the first second third fourth day but as we continue to walk through that sanctuary with our bible study our prayer and and our our witnessing allowing our light to shine if his mind becomes our mind and that peace that raises all understanding is given to us and it's just something that i think for me it took a lot of years to learn it really did but the the more that i spend time with him the less that i feel the stress and dr yvonne why should we be concerned about stress and fear what would those things do to our bodies because they actually have physiological repercussions so there's a dr carolyn leaf who is a she's a neuroscientist and she talked about how our thoughts actually have representations in our brain and when we have toxic thoughts these neurons give off little toxic chemicals that get absorbed into the bloodstream but what erases that is something like forgiveness amen okay forgiveness actually takes a willingness it's healing it's literally healed yes so that's why you know the lord wants us to forgive too not just because because we should but also because harboring bad feelings works against us as well yes so these the stress and the fear um it also burns out our adrenal glands so then we have you know adrenal insufficiency and and it keeps you in that fight-or-flight mode which can burn out your adrenal glands so we we know that well the bible says that will keep him in perfect peace whose mind has stayed on them good perfect peace brings healing exactly and i like what you said because you scientifically showed what i learned and i it stuck with me i was listening to sheree peters on this station by the way and she was saying that forgiveness is not fair well and how she had to forgive her father before he died he never said he's sorry he didn't come and apologize to her for things that had occurred but by forgiving him it brought healing to her and i think many of us have experienced that no brother you've explained it very well yes the bible says a merry heart good luck like like a medicine we just said before we went on the air that we we have to get together i think so we can chuckle that's right there's a lot of stress and it's not bad necessarily but there's a lot of obligation responsibilities that each person has and sometimes you need to just to lay those aside and uh you know chuckle about the good thing maybe just very hard doesn't that endorphins am i saying exactly endorphins that releases when you laugh and it's a healing process so we need that because it says brother danny it says see that you be not trouble how can i read like matthew 24 and if i stop at that i'm going to be a little bit troubled absolutely if i can't go beyond that and i'm a believer in talking about issues but also you know how we're going to attack these issues what what do we need to do to try to change these things are going to happen because jesus said so but it's there see be not trouble because they're the beginning of a sorrow so i need some help if i'm just a reader and i read that matthew 24 i'm going to say oh lord have mercy on me okay do it like you do anything else in life that you want to be successful at prepare prepare prepare for instance i don't want to i shouldn't try to become a professional wrestler because i pinned my ten-year-old nephew or makes sense because somebody somebody tried to mug me and i got an adrenaline punch and knocked him out so i said i'm going to be a professional boxer now i'm going to go you know no you prepare how do you prepare that's you already said it god's word so it's there it's quiet until we need it so between god's word in constant with me it's constant that's helped me the most and i'm just everybody's different but is that constant communication amen but the lord like i'm all during the day if people really my thoughts i mean they're bad enough as they are when they come out people's like don't you have a filter but my thoughts if you heard me talk it's like i'm talking to myself all day things i'm going if i'm going into town i'm talking to the lord yes the lord you know these things he's talking to me hopefully and so it's it's building a relationship so it's preparing for a time of trouble that's right how do we know there's time and trouble because when i've talked to people about matthew 24 they said well there's always been earthquakes there's always been storms there's always been but there's an unprecedented yes to me it's an unprecedented rebellion taking place on this planet of the humans against the creator god and so that's what i see and it's been in tremendous in other words it's it how do you say how fast that it's been happening yes it's unbelievable yes that and if you look at five years ago 10 years ago but people on this planet i mean and the worst part to me is is christians seeming to be okay with things that the world is is putting in whether and i don't want to you know harp on anything but things that we know what sin is we know what the ten commandments and we always for instance stand up against whether it's adultery or stealing or whatever but today because of political correctness you know whether it's transgenders whether it's you know gay marriages whatever we we we say well you know we it's everybody has a choice you know and they should do well they do and we're not perfect and we all sinners we're saved by grace right but we have to constantly go back and look to the word of god so we can't allow what is happening in the world to come into the church so the biggest enemy of the church today is ourselves right the biggest enemy is ourselves it's not the world's always been upset yeah so in though they're physical storms and tornadoes and hurricanes and all that there's always been physicals or spiritual storms and all of that within the church but usually we get this word and say no we we don't accept that today we're well you know maybe we should and as you said because of racial tensions of all kind cultural things so we bring it in that if you don't accept me as i am or what i say then you're a hater you you you don't like me and it's so within the church we see the same problem yes that we see whether it's racist you know well he's a racist no he's a racist well you know this person he it it goes on and on and we're allowing it because we're not really prepared and that's that's that's we have to build no matter what we build or what we stand on has to be our dad told us it's a firm foundation exactly so and as builders kenny many years ago we found that we never built a house on the sand because we knew what would happen to it right we were the first house we ever built together and and i talked about getting out of the coal mines he was making really good money he's a coal miner and i wasn't so i was younger and i was struggling to get by and then somebody wanted he'd built the house and that helped him little and so somebody a uncle of ours actually had a friend from chicago who retired moving back to his old home place wanted the house built showed them kenny's and so he said why don't you guys build me a house i said oh yeah we'll do it he's like well i'm in the coal mine so i talked him out of the the coal mines right to become a carpenter so we went out to the lake of west frankfort yeah which now we just all live a stone's throw from there right never dreaming we would this many years later but we built a house as the term would say on the lake well now of course it was by the lake not on the lake by the lake but guess what though there's all kinds of sand we didn't build it on the sand no we knew even then in our ignorance because we were pretty young and hadn't had a lot of experience that we dug through the ground and we poured concrete we poured a solid foundation to build a house on so today what's happening with the vision as you mentioned earlier all of you the satan is dividing and so what's happening is we don't young young kids growing up don't know what a solid foundation is that's right and i've never seen such a time here's the good news in the midst of the storm then i'll quit i'm i'm starting to preach but here's the good news the good news is when we see all this rebellion happening we see terrible things happening and we're all part of it so we can't say oh well we're watching it and we've got all our act together no the devil works on us like he does everybody else but we have to remember we can always come back to him because that's that's where the forgiveness is that's where in our human rights not to jesus come back to jesus yes so but the good news is i've never seen so many people wanting to find out about the lord in other words yes she's get she has young people i'm talking about their teenagers calling her other ones are calling now she has bible studies it'd be friday night sabbath afternoon i think he had one last night for two hours and these are young people yes amen that are growing up in the cities there was some some without parents guidance and these people were calling her groups of them and and you know how did it happen she was willing amen and you know was helping some family and then others got involved and then we invited others she invited others so there are people we have people i was telling you before calling us if i mentioned the name you most of the people would know they're calling saying we want to know we want to know the truth we grew up in the church but that's right we want to know the truth we've been learning from through and so while it looks bad all around us and we see all these signs of the times don't get caught up in it no don't get so caught up if you're oh my you know this is terrible and and people say why me you know the question the real question is why not me that's right why not me yeah we're all sinners saved by grace so anything that we get may chung used to tell me anything we get on this earth is more than we deserve true once i was going through a really troubled time and i called her called her mama said mom and was telling her about it she said oh son i wish i was going through that and i'm like what you know because she goes she goes because that's the jesus treatment i must not be living right because i'm not being persecuted that bad and that's something i didn't think of the persecution just this but she's like any time we stand up for the lord people are going to hate it you know so so be happy when you know you're doing right now don't look to the left don't look to the right just keep going forward but the good news is that if we keep our eyes on jesus yes we're not going to be sucked into all these things the dev traps the devil has out there that's right and so we can find peace in the midst of the storm when you were talking about the endorphins while ago i thought well mean you should have plenty because we laugh every day good yeah well what you're talking about there i read that said you you have to thrash the straw in order to get the grain okay it's just small and simple but there's a lot of truth in that sometimes we take a thrashing yeah we like to think our dad i think said a few times or you're going to get a thrashing so you kind of knew what was going to happen yeah with that but all of these thrashings or these trials and these things that jesus says is going to happen i'm looking at them if we can endure by the grace of god give us what we need it's character development isn't it which is the only thing that we can take to heaven without this these thrashings right without these you know little corrections from the lord and these tests we'll never make it to heaven that's right so i'm trying to associate and learning to associate that when i'm going through this stuff here it's because the lord wants me to spend eternity with him he sees a lot of things in me that i don't see that needs to be corrected and i'm glad that he does yes so he sends the little thrashers in there you know the little challenges at times that we all have that we face we say oh lordly have mercy of all days of all days i don't have time or all days why now there's a reason for that so you know i'm praising i pray i'm learning to praise god i'm not saying i've arrived you mentioned i'm glad you mentioned it's always good no one here has ever said that we we've arrived that we're there that we've got everything under control at all but you know what that should never prevent us from telling what is truth you know that's right you know some people won't talk about certain subjects because they may have it in their mind or they may be guilty can i say that guilty and so they don't talk about it but we can talk about what god says in his word there and bring it out it may help someone along the way do you find that too oh i find that yes i find that as well and i you know i relate to everything that everybody's saying because you know jesus himself of course he told us what was going to happen at sort of like current events as it were he wants us to be aware but like you said we have to be grounded we have to know where our source of strength our source of health our source of support comes from and that comes from from the word of god and from christ himself and so i'm experiencing some of the same things you know people that i've prayed for for years we mentioned vebby i don't know if she'll be listening but if she is hello vevi um we mentioned bevi before this and baby's been asking more questions it's opening doors and i was listening to a doctor last night and she was talking about and she showed different charts that they have developed over this last year and a half almost two years you know that how the incidence of stress and depression has just risen astronomically and you have young children when you were talking about the young people calling her i said praise god praise the lord they're looking for help because a lot of these young people it's unbelievable have taken their lives as a child yes because of all of this depression they don't see a way out and so that's what i'm hoping that that this peace amidst the storm that this family worship will give us all hope give us a connection help us to know where to go i was speaking with somebody close to me i won't say who because they really might be watching but um i had a call and this is from a 10 year old oh oh i just don't know what you know i can't handle this person at school and and they're just such a bully and now this person has died and there's just there's nothing that can be done nothing can be done and i had to stop and say no now what was that verse that i've taught you what was i what was isaiah 41 10 remember we memorized that one you know what i was trying to do is go back and then later on someone said well you've got to let them vent and i think so to a point absolutely we have to get things out once in a while but we need to know where our source of strength lies we have to learn to those promises we have to learn to claim those promises we have to accept them because those are things that god gave to us and he gave us these promises to give us that strength to give us that hope of course we know supernaturally he will do that as well but we got it we've got to know where to plug into and i think that's so important because people don't know where to turn that's right they want to turn to us but what do we do we send them right back to jesus right back to the word that's where it's at and sometimes we all need that help like even here you know the lord says not to forsake yourselves the assembling together i know he means that on like on sabbath but even here we draw strength from one another i draw encouragement you know you both said i feel like preaching i'm like yes go on that time is yours you know we draw strength from one another we draw ideas from one another and that's what god wants for each and every one of us and it helps it helps us to stay strong in the midst of all these things everybody's really focusing on the questions we haven't even read it but we're focusing on that like number one and again let's just run with it how shall christ's people how will christ people stand in the days of almost overwhelming fear and you know anxiety and opposition so we've really been without reading the questions we really got into it i have one passage and i'll pass it on off there i think jesus speaking here and when i see it as at least letters in red i think i mentioned on the program the other day that you wrote a song written and read true yeah what's mine is similar to that yeah i forgot what it is i was thinking of anyway written in red or something that's part of the line or something in that uh that's what calvary says to me calvary says love to calvary says love to me there for a minute there is a song also rusty goodman's beautiful written in red okay and i wrote a song calvary says love to me okay both of those and through that is through his shed blood on the cross of calvary thank you sorry it took me a minute to get back not well because it wasn't your the song you wrote i was saying you did that would be nice but it it was it was it was beautiful and the combination i think one of the things we were trying to identify was was love because the world doesn't understand maybe love we don't understand it and then it says calvary means love to me if you want to know what real love it's calvary and you want to you know know what's happening in the world what jesus said to us there in john 14 27 he said peace i leave with you my peace i give unto you not as the world giveth give i unto you let not your heart be troubled neither let it be afraid and if i would just take those words and have faith enough to just you know just take them in and chew them up i wouldn't fear what's going on in the world today i how can how can i when jesus jesus said himself right here it's not like the world the peace what the world's talking about he said i'm going to leave my peace with you man did he did he not have peace how could he had peace unless he relied upon his father i mean he was asleep one time where was it in the boat and the disciples were screaming and yelling we're all going to drown it's going to turn over and he was snoozing i mean that's peace he had that so i mean do we do we look that direction do we look at these words do we understand them do we know them well enough to claim them when we're going through a real mess and the world said oh there there's just no peace out there i'm telling you jesus said i i'm going to leave you my peace yes what do you do with that well to me it's it's um i i think because we were raised you know our father gave us things just simple yes and so it wasn't like he didn't leave you any questions any wiggle room if he told you to go do something you couldn't make excuses because he made it so straight with say black and white but to me uh the very simple part of it is is we first have to establish who god is and who we are well yes so when we look around this world you're either going to believe there is a god or you're going to believe there isn't one so now it's for me it's much harder to be it would be much harder to be an atheist than it is to believe that the creator god when you look at all the detail of the human body you look at the animals the plants around the world there's no way that all of a sudden this just came into or it evolved from what it still had to even people say well involved well from what exactly that had to start somewhere so simply put you have to really find out in your own mind yes and deciding all of us do whether we become christians or not you know where'd we come from [Music] where am i going right what happens to me after i die we have to ask these simple questions so who am i you know yes who god is so i realized and my dad used to say son you're just one little speck of sand on this earth so the world doesn't revolve around you kept it real yeah if you wanted to do it but dad can everyday sign the world don't revolve around you mm-hmm remember you've heard that kenny right no you're there so while he would tell us how miniscule we were yes on the other hand then he would tell us that we can do anything through christ there's nothing that anybody else can do you can't do so he he balanced it out but let's find out number one for me uh who who i am and who god is okay it's very easy i see that of myself i can do nothing have no control of my future as far as eternity goes it's all in god's hands so what what i just well it's in god's hand so i understand that you know what if i want to look beyond this world i have to look to jesus he's the foundation he's the rock as we said earlier so when i submit and commit my life to him he's faithful and just to forgive me from those sins and cleanse me from all unrighteousness and now i can have peace in the midst of the storm so when things go bad here's the beauty about it you don't have to be a theologian yvonne to be a christian and to have peace in the midst of the storm but there are certain scriptures i've been using most of my life i can do all things through christ and strengthens me that's what it says for my god shall shall supply all according to his richness and glory well it's hard to understand about that so when we if we believe yes that god has the power to create the entire universe and to create us don't we think that he has the power to take care of us yes don't we do we have to worry in the midst of the storm amen is the worst thing that ever happened to us is that we die well if so we're in trouble because the bible says in psalms it's appointed once a time for every man to die and then he says precious in the sight of the lord are the death of his saints there you go so we don't measure what's happening to us on this earth by how long we live you know people watching there we're our age and then we have teenagers thinking man that's never going to happen to me many teenagers are dying today that's right they'll die today as we speak through accidents as you said sometimes suicide all of these things because they don't have any answers and don't know where to go right so it's our responsibility and our privilege as christians to show people where they can find peace in the midst of the storm amen in fact and this is not time to promo but you can have this it's free in other words yes this little book we wrote several years ago after katrina pacific press asked me to write it it's just a little pamphlet called after the storm what comes next amen and in just what two years two years ago greg and jill asked us to write evonomies so we wrote this one after covert 19 what's next these give you bible scriptures it's very simple and then coven's not gone away no neither has sin gone away that's right neither is doubt gone away and confusion gone away so if you want some peace in the midst of the storm you want to give your friends your neighbors yes whomever just write and say danny said you could save on said you could have that way i don't get in trouble you can just have these for free we'll send them to you after the storm or after cover 19. that's right is is what's next so all we have to really do is establish who god is and that he's the creator of the universe that the godhead formed a plan of salvation and that's where it's written and love that jesus agreed to come to this earth be born in a manger and and lowly lived in a lowly humble life and lived a sinless life amen so that then he could go back and now is ever interceding they crucified him yeah he wasn't nailed to the cross love billy blackwood wrote a song says love held jesus to the cross the nails held jesus to the cross so because of his love he died for us now he went back to the father he's ever interceding at the right hand of the father for you and for me so every time we fail and we will you'll fail i don't care if you're the preacher or you're the town drunk we're all going to fail but there's only one solution we come back to our creator god and say lord please forgive me and you know so so to me this is the most exciting time to be alive in earth's history yes because we are seeing prophecy being fulfilled yes and rapidly can come and i believe he's going to come very quickly we've said it for years but everything now is fast paced yes knowledge should be increased men running to and fro look at our phones look at our technology but look at the rebellion so the rebellion against god and his word is at an all-time high and every day we think we can't she when she and i talk about it all the time every day we think it can't get worse we hear something on the news or so upside down we looked at each other did you hear that yeah can you believe this yeah you know what's going on i mean it's amazing but what do we do we have to act as christians we're we say onward christian soldiers we're on the front line we need to be marching we need to be going in the name of god lifting up jesus to the world because people are interested they're looking for answers and they won't know unless we tell them and i'm so thankful that this what you have this ministry with all these teenagers and young people in their 20s and 30s and it's growing all the time people are looking for answers they are hungry i mean across the board young old because they're seeing unprecedented as you said unprecedented things happening in the world today and they know there's something different going on this is not business as usual this is not what we have been seeing this is something new what's happening yes you know what's happening i want to share something one of my storms recently was when jason had covet and i was so worried about him and concerned and i was bringing it to the lord please lord please be with my child and help him through this and all and the lord gives you this peace he gives you when when you reach out to him he gives you a piece about things that you might not which you would not have had had you not sought him prepare prepare prepare that's that's right put the word in your spirit i have a an app on my phone come on now it's a bible memory app and during that time with jason i went to my app and i was you know memorizing scripture and stuff and all of these scriptures that i had started to memorize were on my phone and they were just ministering to me amen back to back and that's what that's what we have to do i'd like to share a couple of them one is psalm 27 13 and 14. and i these are two of my new favorite verses and this is taken from the new king james version i would have lost heart unless i had believed that i would see the goodness of the lord in the land of the listeners true yes wait on the lord be of good courage and he will strengthen your heart amen wait i would have lost heart i mean how modern is that yeah how how modern is that how contemporary is that that we there's so many things going on we could lose heart that's right unless that that were there unless yes we had believed that we would see the goodness of the lord amen amen he's here right now some guy says one time it's not it's not so much what you eat that makes you strong it's what you digest oh it makes you stronger there you go you know we gotta take that with a grain of salt but yeah think about that it's what we digest that means what what we put inside what we absorb and we become like yes i'm thinking man i need to digest some more of the word of god david said that word if i hid in my heart that i might not sin against them so exactly so i mean that's that's i mean that's a beautiful testimony what scripture can do but it doesn't it take does it take faith something about faith because somebody some people you can read they can read it they they sense nothing they they feel nothing it doesn't lift them but a man or woman or a child of faith you read that you just know it's so yeah i mean you talk about the christ come and live and die i said i didn't see it but i just know he did yes it's just no based on the word of god so we need that kind of connection with god right now and digest that stuff that's good for us so it becomes a part of our character faith is an action word yes it is other words rather than we just believe if we just believe then we'll do something about that right if we believe that jesus saved us that he died for us if we believed that he formed the worlds and you know and so in myself i had the scripture and i should have read it a while ago but i can't get it off here i love what when we're talking about who god is and who we are but as job 38 4 when when when god says where were you when i laid the foundation yeah i said tell me if you know so much right you know tell me about so we have to say well i don't know anything you know i couldn't even made that one grain of sand we're talking about and that's almost i've heard that a few times toward me yeah and we find out science is allowing us to know about dna and all these things there's billions of particles and i didn't have i have no idea any of that but as we learn how great god is man how big is god how big and white is vast stone domain yes you know what i'm saying you know that song to try to tell these lips can only start it's big enough to rule the mighty universe he's big enough to rule the mighty universe yet small enough to live within our heart so to understand god that is to me what helps me is to understand that with god he's the creator of the universe he is jesus died that not one should perish but all should have everlasting life so based on that i'm not one he died only for me he died only for you amen to if that's what it would take and he would have died for each of us and so there it's it's easier to be to be be saved than it is to be lost right yeah because what you hear preachers telling about are you going to burn and go to hell and you're going to burn forever and ever and this is going to happen to you and that if you don't do this and you don't do that all we have to do is trust in god and when we learn something it's truth hold on to that and then share it that's what he asked us to do come to the cross and then go and tell what i've done right amen i sing because i'm happy that's right and in the midst of the storm yes we can't have peace that's right i didn't know how i would act when you come you faced death when kenny you you had an open heart surgery i had it and i didn't know because i knew when i'm laying there and all over family and people were they were allowing to come it's three years ago and you realize there's a there's a good percentage chance you're not going to come out of that you know but i had to think about it i thought i went either way i went either way yeah let's say if if i make it through this i get to see if i know my family my loved ones what a great blessing if i don't the next face i'll see is jesus jesus praise god you know yes so i found peace in the midst of the storm because i understand who i am and i understand who god is so even though i fail him from time to time he understands that as long as i'm sorry and i'm willing to come back as long as you're willing to come back to the foot of the cross he's going to forgive you and you can start all over that's right let anybody put you down don't let anybody tell you you're not worth anything right you're worth everything if you were worth it for the creator to come down in jesus to shed his blood on the cross of calvary you're very valuable don't let the world lead you astray get you here there and within the church let's quit arguing about things that that we stand up about today that i've preached about you have we talked about 30 years ago no one would have said a word today we can use that same sermon if i took one of cd brook's sermon from 30 40 years ago and preached it everybody would have you know they thought it was great but if i do it today oh that's wrong you can't say those things but what changed right we did we did it confidence i'm hearing confidence in the word of god when you think about yes confidence was he said you know next thing i'll i'll see if i should pass that's right is the face of jesus that's right well a lot of people say that you know in the world they say oh yeah a guy just told me this week right now well if i die i know exactly where i'm going to go i'm going to is is it confidence in self or is it confidence in in the word of god or the god that we serve that says i where i am that's where i want you yes how important is having confidence in the word when you read it well confidence is faith it's faith it's it's believing in those things which we haven't yet seen but it's believing in the word of god and the holy spirit builds that confidence there is you know there is no other book that has ever been written that has changed lives like the bible has you know and as i was listening to you guys talk i've done a lot of listening but it's been really good you know i i stopped and i began to think you know when you talk about the little time of trouble you talk about the great time of terrible we see all these storms and you mentioned like matthew 24 we've always had storms and yet we've had sensory storms happen back to back to back you know it's it's increasing in its ferocity it's increasing in its frequency i feel like with all the things we've been talking about that the voice of the dragon is getting louder and louder and stronger it's like a great crescendo as i see all these things coming together because he's working to deceive in any way that he possibly can but when we go out in the storm if we were to leave here right now and it's storming outside what are we going to look for umbrella an umbrella a shelter a shelter a shelter you see as i was listening to all this and thinking about how i always wish that it wouldn't happen this way god is so much more intelligent yes because as these storms are increasing what are people doing they're looking for a shelter is there any place i can go is there anything i can do is there any hope is there any help what can i do well what does the bible really say about death because you know we could die we don't know tomorrow i had a cousin 49 just 49. he died of covid you know a girl that i grew up i don't remember how old she is but i know she's younger than i am her and her husband just a couple weeks ago died two days apart from each other in the hospital on an event from covet um you know so people are looking at these things and it just dawned on me you know we are told that in the last days people are going to come into this truth by the thousands as the latter rain has poured out why because they're looking for a shelter in the storm they're looking for truth and i just as far as that that one question that we were talking about you know how shall christ's people stand in the days of almost overwhelming fear anxiety i just want to just kind of glimpse at a few passages and let the whole the word of god speak psalms 121 verses 5 through 7 the lord is thy keeper he's the one that's going to keep us safe in that storm the lord shall preserve thee from all evil he shall preserve thy soul that's the faith that you had that's the confidence you were asking me about john 16 33 in me ye might have peace you know we've got to go to him for that peace be of good cheer i have overcome the world we're on the i've often heard danny say i've read the end of the book we're on the winning side hold on hold on hold on you know isaiah 41 10. i referred to this one earlier i will strengthen the yeah i will help you i cannot tell you how many times that right there is such a a summation yes of all yes that there is in christ and what he is to us yea i will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness not our righteousness his righteousness of course we want to reflect that psalms 34 7 how many times have i claimed this the angel of the lord shall encamp round about those who fear him and delivereth them you know that is such a strong promise in the word of god and i've claimed that many times psalms 91 3-10 he christ shall deliver thee his truth shall be thy shield and buckler it's truth the truth shall set us free thou shall not be afraid nor for the pestilence nor for the destruction because thou hast made the lord which is my refuge even the most high my habitation and if those of you who are looking and saying that's not what i'm saying i'm just skipping through those verses habitats uh 3 17-18 you can read those when you have time yet i will rejoice we can rejoice you know martyrs they sang as they were burning at the stake stephen said lord forgive them for they know what not what they do christ said father forgive them for they know not what they do i've often felt we can rejoice i will have joy in the god of my salvation because when it comes to the point that we can't take it anymore he takes our pain he carries us through yeah he is our refuge he is our salvation that's right that's right that's good yeah very good yes so if we want peace in the midst of the storm i think i'm finding out here we we have to prepare to the word of god and then don't be let the wind blow you from the left to the right or from one side straight come on so when you're in god's protection when you're sheltered in the arms of god as we say then you're not going to be blown by every wind of doctrine you're not going to be your confidence won't be shaken because once you're in the arms of god you know hey my life's in god's hands whether i live or whether i die doesn't make any difference we're all going to die on this earth either from old age or accidents or whatever health we're going to die but the main thing is eternity amen that we spend spend with jesus oh yes so to have the confidence to have the faith and then to act on that but our responsibility is we can't just be selfish and say okay i'm thankful i've learned this if we now we've got to go tell jesus says go and tell what i have done for you and as ellen white says that's that our our personal testimony is our greatest asset that we have so for me and i know yvonne will tell you this from her giving those bible studies are you learning from this too oh i am and it's wonderful the kids are appreciative but but they don't realize that it's a privilege for me because i'm learning every time we have a study on a topic i'm learning more about myself so it's i mean it's a blessing it's a blessing for me we all need it right we all need it we all need to be rooted and grounded in the world that's what you're talking about there when you read the bible says work out your own salvation with fear and trembling ellen white comes along and says in working out our own salvation it's when we help others yeah buying christ we're working out our own salvation and we point others to him so i need to be pointing others to him yes right yeah and then working out your own salvation it draws you closer to him yes you see the importance of life that are changed or going the wrong direction now they're coming back even in them even in the midst of a storm i heard a person say one time you you can read a verse you know one time in the bible and you're familiar with it but if you read it several times it becomes a friend okay it's a difference so it's more than just well i i've read the bible through once right right yeah and it's okay people say that it's not trying to criticize that you know i've read through once and what so you've read through three or four different times but have you studied the word of god have you read it over and over looking for truth right looking for something that will help you and me find our way to heaven right and so i'm trying to learn to study the word amen rather than to read the word i hope that's that's fair yes they want to really study the word amen and i think it's important you know when you're going through something to look back on the other trials that you've had and see how god resolved that answer amen because you you come to realize that okay this is happening now but i remember when i was losing my home or i remember when i lost my job or i remember when my marriage died come on now went to the birds or i remember whatever it was that you went through think about how god brought you through that time you think he's going to just drop you now no he's going to bring you through because he promises when you i love isaiah 43 1-3 fear not for i've redeemed you i've called you by name you're mine and you pass through the waters i'll be with you amen to the rivers they will not overflow you when you walk through the fire you will not be burned neither will the flame kindle for i am the lord your god the holy one of israel your savior so in those verses you have degrees of suffering you've got the waters yes which are you know your basic trials you've got the rivers which are deeper and then you've got the fire mercy when you go through that fire he's saying you will not be burned neither will the flame kindle upon you yeah and the lord your best yeah yes you know he's our god he says we're his he's ours yes we don't have to fear man i i just i it's exciting because fire is fire is purification yes when you go through all the other things you may be knee-deep you may be up to here but when you go through that fire all that stuff that doesn't need to be burnt out as it were that's right if we don't take it out it'll burn with us can i say that yeah i mean we don't want that we want him to purify turn up and that's that's kind of a difficult thing maybe today say god turn up the heat in my life get rid of those impurities because you know you know things are going to start happening and going on unless you're really connected to him you may fall apart yeah that's right but trust in him he said i'll be with you through all those things yeah so prepare prepare prepare because so many people as soon as they find out they got covered they're giving their life to the lord they're going to do somebody recently had a big health problem and oh he when pastor went to see him he said as soon as i get out of here i'm starting my own ministry i'm going to go i'm going to do all these things and then right afterwards you never see him he never does it because it's like god is a santa claus so far and time and need give me this give me that yes but it's not it's a two-way street what he did for us then we show god we love him as we said by by literally submitting committing our life to him and then giving our own personal testimony being there for others so um let's prepare prepare prepare and how do we do that through prayer through bible study and through constant communication amen we commit if we commit to him like you just said this individual let's make sure that the bible is very clear on that it'd be better that we'd never made that commitment to christ than to make it and then break it go back wow make sure you're serious when you do it you have nothing to lose right with christ on your side you have all to win you've got a thought or two which is that a minute or so left well i was thinking as we're talking you know as we're preparing we also need to be falling in love amen with christ falling in love with the word of god uh first john 4 18 says perfect love casteth out off that's what we want we want him so close to us and be so in love with him that no matter what's happening around us we have his peace oh wow praise the lord yes one thing i that i read i've got it or jotted down it said it's not so much what happens to us that counts but it's what we do with what happens that's good that's good really again it's it's it's these things are going to happen the enemy's going to throw things at each one of you every day sometimes you're in a a glass house yeah you know people it's easy for them to write letters and criticize everything and you have to ask yourself what ask yourself what are you doing for god that maybe it's anybody you know we have better things to do than to worry about the color of a man's tie or if he has a tie on or if he doesn't what he looks like yeah if his hair is combed just right or not we are at the end of the world right and you when you're saying prepare prepare prepare that just strikes a cord in me that we need to be preparing for the coming of the lord and i know that each one of you agree with that he's coming we need to be ready make preparations peace amidst the storm and we're certainly glad that the folks joined us today we pray that's been a blessing by the grace of god something's been said something's been done right that would just bring some encouragement i've been blessed so oh nobody else i was blessed amen yeah we've been blessed because what we're going over the promises of god the sure word that we can count on that we are going to be count on the same promises that you do and again we're so glad that you join us and let's don't forget get in the word of god stay in the word of god and he's going to come and soon be
