the work father that will bring glory and honor to you alone we pray in jesus name amen amen amen amen amen amen pastor day we will start with you all right this question comes from rona out of georgia how do you explain to someone who believes in tongues about acts chapter 11 verse 46 all right well this is a great question i appreciate you sending that in rona i just want to make just a slight correction because when i was reading your question i saw when i went to the book of acts chapter 11 there's only 30 verses so but i knew immediately when you asked this question of acts 11 46 i know you meant acts 10 46 because the previous passage verse 46 actually says this in fact i'm going to back up to acts 10 verse 44 and read to verse 46. notice what it says it says while peter was still speaking with speaking these words the holy spirit fell upon all those who heard the word and those of the circumcision who believed were astonished as many as came with peter because the gift of the holy spirit had been poured out on the gentiles also for they heard them speak with tongues and magnify god that was verse 46 for they heard them speak with tongues and magnify god of course this is the situation in which paul excuse me peter is now going to visit cornelius and his family cornelius was a roman centurion obviously he was a gentile and so this is the first biblical example that we have of the holy spirit being poured out upon gentiles in this case though it's interesting because many people go to this text and try to say well you know what gentiles were speaking in tongues and and because they were speaking in tongues and they were magnifying god you know this is a special heavenly tongue and it goes back to that whole argument that many charismatic pentecostals try to use to say that there's a special heavenly tongue that you know every christian needs in order to have salvation because we have to you know put forth the evidence that we have the you know the holy spirit and they say that that's the gift of tongues but we have to keep in mind that peter when peter was speaking to them of course peter being a jew peter understood what they were saying he understood that they were magnifying god because not only were they just speaking in a tongue but they were speaking in a tongue that peter and those around them could hear this happened in the same way that it did on the day of pentecost in fact acts 11 15 when peter was describing this same event he said and as i began to speak the holy spirit fell on them as upon us in the beginning speaking of the day of pentecost what happened on the day of pentecost obviously everyone who received the outpouring of the holy spirit they spoke in a worldly known language that they were not born with for the purpose of communicating the gospel to those of a different language that's what happened to cornelius's family so if you're explaining this to someone it wasn't some heavenly you know tongue or some language you know some jibber jab or a babbling that no man can understand these were known languages and people that were present understood it in their language probably a different language but in in their language they understood them magnifying god they were speaking intelligent words thank you for that that explanation there um shelley will come to you we were wondering for what purpose did god create angels and why before mankind that's interesting i first want to point out that both in greek and hebrew the word for angel is messenger and that's what it means and it is used of man and it is used of celestial beings i'm sure you're speaking of celestial beings here i also want to point out isaiah 55 8 9 god says my thoughts are not your thoughts my ways are not your ways my thoughts are higher than your thoughts and my ways higher than your ways the bible doesn't specifically answer your question but there is indications and i don't i i think the best angel is best angel the best answer is simply to say that god created angels to do his will and to fulfill his purpose for when he created humanity in hebrews 1 14 the bible says speaking of celestial beings are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation so the bible indicates that angels will be serving humanity even in the future god created angels to help assist him in his purposes to send them as messengers to mankind and serve his purpose you know we see angels they were warriors they were messengers they were protectors of god's people and they were ministers to god's people we also see that angels ministered in the heavenly sanctuary so the answer is god did create angels before he created humanity i believe that he wanted his team in place so that he could minister to humanity properly amen well i'm glad that he did create angels and before us because boy i know mine had been working overtime back in the day pastor loma kang jesus was anointed with the holy spirit at his baptism why then couldn't the comforter come until after jesus left this comes from lois out of pennsylvania sure lois thank you for that question first of all the holy spirit is to continue the work of jesus the holy spirit is to be the proponent to continue to follow in the footsteps that jesus established but there was something significant about the work of christ that the holy spirit could not do the holy spirit is not the redeemer the holy spirit was to point the world to their need of a redeemer if jesus had not completed the work of redemption first the holy spirit could not come to point the world to the need for a redeemer and in his own words jesus made it clear in john 16 verse 7 he says nevertheless i tell you the truth it is to your advantage that i go away for if i do not go away the helper would not come to you but if i depart i will send him to you and the question is what is he going to do when jesus leaves and a point i want to make very importantly here is the work of the holy spirit is far more in-depth than many people even give him credit for john 16 verse 8 to 11 and when he has come look what he does he will convict the world of sin and of righteousness and of judgment of sin because they do not believe in me of righteousness because i go to my father and you see me no more that couldn't be the case if jesus was still here and of judgment because the ruler of this world is judge jesus had to defeat the enemy jesus had to defeat lucifer before the work of redemption was completed now the holy spirit can convict the world and say now that jesus has provided redemption you need that so he was to be the proponent john 16 13 13-14 however when he the spirit of truth has come he will guide you into all truth for he will not speak on his own authority but whatever he hears he will speak and he will tell you things to come he will glorify me for he will take of what is mine and declare it right for you yeah excellent explanation pastor day this comes from madeleine from las vegas please explain these verses from matthew chapter 24 verses 17 through 20. absolutely so thank you madeline for submitting that question i'm going to read the verses and then i'm going to give the explanation matthew 24 and i'm actually going to back up to verse 15 because it puts us in puts it in its proper context so matthew 24 i'm going to start reading in verse 15 to 20. it says therefore when you see the abomination of desolation spoken by daniel the prophet standing in the holy place whoever reads let him understand then let those who are in judea flee to the mountains and then here's verse 17 let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house and let him who is in the field not go back and get his clothes but woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days and pray that your flight may not be in the winter nor on the sabbath this obviously is coming within the context of the question that the disciples had asked jesus at the beginning of this chapter it starts the chapter starts out that they're going to jesus privately on the top of the mount of olives because jesus had just spoken of the destruction of the temple he told them not one stone would be left upon another and so it says they went to him privately said when will these things be and what will be the signs of the end of the age and of your coming and so jesus in matthew 24 not only tells the signs of the the signs of the times in reference to his second coming but he also in these particular verses that we just read is speaking of the details pertaining to the destruction of jerusalem which happened in 70 a.d now some support for this obviously better verses for this is when you go to luke 21 because there's a little bit more explanation a little bit more detail notice luke 21 verses 20 through 24 it says but when you see jerusalem surrounded by armies then you know that its desolation is near same thing when you see again what matthew said the abomination of desolation spoken by daniel the prophet that's speaking of the latter verses of daniel chapter 9 talking about the destruction of jerusalem it goes on to say then let those who are in in judea flee to the mountains let those uh who are in the midst of her depart and let not those who are in the country enter her this is talking about a time of destruction of jerusalem in 70 a.d when titus the roman military mind he took his armies in and basically flooded jerusalem and destroyed jerusalem and in this case christ was giving them warning to not to to flee to not turn back to not stay there because if they had stayed there the righteous those who were who were being warned they would have been destroyed along with the other you know millions of people that were there in the city at that time so of course these verses are referring to the destruction of jerusalem in 70 a.d amen thank you for covering that uh shelley does john chapter 19 verse 39 show nicodemus becoming a believer and follower of christ jesus this comes from jerry out of michigan jerry that is a great question let's just kind of look at what the bible has to say about nicodemus if you consider john chapter 3 we see that nicodemus was a prominent pharisee he was a member of the sanhedrin the ruling jewish councilor and what does he do he was also an authority on hebrew scripture because jesus calls him the teacher of israel so we know that he was an authority of the hebrew scriptures but he was curious about jesus something that jesus said did whatever the reports he'd heard he was moved by that and he goes to jesus in the in the garden at night to ask him what must be done and this is when they have the famous conversation about being born again now something happened to him because we see in john 7 51 that jesus is supporting jesus he actually defends jesus before his peers before the sanhedrin and he is sharply rebuked as he is talking with these high priests and pharisees or the chief priests now in john 19 i'm going to begin with verse 38 i'm just backing it up one listen to what the bible says after this this is after the crucifixion joseph of arimathea that's the rich man in whose tomb jesus was buried being a disciple of jesus but secretly for fear of the jews he asked pilate that he might take away the body of jesus and pilate gave him permission so he came and took the body of jesus and nicodemus who at first came to jesus by night that was in the garden also came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes about a hundred pounds and they took the body of jesus they bound it in strips of linen with the spices as the custom of the jews is to bury and now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden in the garden a new tomb in which no one had been laid now the interesting thing to me about verse 38 of john chapter 19 is arimathea joseph of arimathea was a secret disciple well here we've got nicodemus with him i personally believe he brought a hundred pounds of aloe and myrrh that's enough to anoint a king for his burial my personal belief is that nicodemus recognized christ's suffering and his death fulfill the prophecies of the coming messiah and that he was anointing jesus as king of the jews thank you shelley thank you amen pastor loma kang you'll have three minutes for this question okay i have a question regarding the apocrypha bible books hopefully i pronounced that correctly the 14 books that were removed from the bible as they are claimed to be they glorify god and agree with the rest of the bible also adding more information to common bible questions my question is why are they not used in contemporary christianity are they fake or something else well first of all let me clarify from the very context of your question they were not removed from the bible they were never added to the bible that's right you have to look at these books these were books that were agnostic in many respects these books were used throughout the course of human history and you have they were categorized into two areas those that are accepted books and not accepted books let me just run through the 14 quickly uh ecclesiastes uh wisdom first and second maccabees tobit bell and the dragon judith esther and baruch these were considered as during the development of the christian era as accepted books uh some of them were quoted in the septuagint which is the which is a hebrew new testament you find those with somebody accepted but when they were further investigated they found that they were incompatible with the scriptures we considered today the canon of scriptures that's why they were not included you have also the the flat out not accepted books like the prayer of manasseh the song of the three holy children the history of susanna first and second address and the list goes on and on because there are some that say with there were 15 books some say there was 16 books but those who compile the scriptures looked at them and found them inconsistent with the scriptures let me give you an example the book of tobit was supposed it pointed out that tobit was supposedly alive uh when jeroboam staged the revolt in 931 bc and was still alive at the time of the assyrian captivity in in 722 bc yet the book of tobit said he only lived 158 years that's a lot longer than 158 years so how can it be how can he have spent almost 200 years when in his own writings it indicated that he lived much shorter period of time that inconsistency was there also you find in second maccabees there is a suggestion to pray for the deceased and today mormons suggest that you know pray for the dead well that's inconsistent with the bible in luke chapter 16 because when your life closes the bible says in hebrews it is appointed unto men wants to die and after that the judgment when you die your record is closed nobody can alter that by prayer and the other aspect of it is finally there is no claim of any of these books having divine authority you find books like the book of enoch well it was called the book of enoch but the writer was not enoch it was an epistle a new testament epistle by the name of barnabas who wrote this book why would he use the name enoch to try to gain credibility if i use a name that is established in scripture as a person of authority and credibility maybe people will read it well the church fathers realized that as they went through the writings in specificity that they they did not match the canon of scriptures quite a bit of um conflicts uh stories that were just maybe applicable to those times but not relevant to the canon of scriptures and they wanted to minimize any conflict and controversy from these extra biblical writings so they were never added to the bible amen great answer wow that's deep that is deep if you have any questions that you would like to send in for a future program you can email them to bible qa at 3abn.tv or you can text your questions to 618-228-3975 these questions are great that are coming in just real quickly that was the three-minute answer but you know if you want to get into the depth of it right i would recommend that you do some research on your own and you'll find out quite a bit more so don't take that three-minute answer and say that's the capsule of it that's three minutes juiced version that's just incredible to be able to put it into three minutes uh pastor day this comes from edith out of new york please explain the four creatures in ezekiel okay well the best way i can explain the four living creatures in ezekiel is letting ezekiel explain the four living creatures let's read the text there in ezekiel chapter 1 verses 5 through 11. of course you we see these four living creatures come up multiple times between ezekiel 1 and chapter 10. but notice verses 5-11 in ezekiel 1 it says also from within it came the likeness of four living creatures and this was their appearance they had the likeness of a man each one had four faces and each one had four wings so these are talking about cherubims it says their legs were straight and the soles of their feet were like the soles of calves feet they sparkled like the color of burnished bronze their hands of the the hands of the man were under the their wings on their four sides and each of the four had faces and wings says their wings touched one another the creatures did not turn when they went but each one went straight forward as for the likeness of their faces each one had the face of a man each of the four had the face of a lion on the right side each of the four had the face of an ox on the left side each of the four had the face of an equal thus were their faces their wings stretched upward two wings of each one touched one another and the two and two covered their bodies these are cherubums cherubs are mentioned many many times in scripture having a double set of wings or four wings in this case their wings two wings touched one another two wings of course uh covered their bodies these are a little bit different than what we see in revelation with the seraphim seraphim had six wings and uh of course these cherubims had four different faces versus the seraphim we see in revelation only had one face very similar in the sense that it's an eagle uh you know a face of a man the calf and of course uh also the face of the lion but these cherubims of course they if you do a research in scripture you'll find that they carry out the work of god whatever god asks them to do they are god's helpers they do god's work for them for instance they also help transport god uh in the mobility of god's throne in the movement we see that in the book of revelation as well as in in the book of ezekiel as well ezekiel chapter 10. so these are cherubim they're types of angels if you hear the word cherubims seraphims these are these are different types of angelic hosts that god created to serve him seraphim's of course their job is more in the work of praise they praise god all the time so these these what we're just describing here in ezekiel are definitely cherubims and they'd carry out the work of god their angels i love how you said we'll we'll just let ezekiel explain it well it's the best way to he gives great detail absolutely shelly you'll have three minutes for this question uh please explain romans 8 16 and 17. okay and that's from david and maryland david thank you for this question we're going to back up to romans 8 13 see this in context in romans 8 13 it says if you live according to the flesh you will die but if by the spirit you put to death the deeds of the body you will live notice we need the power of the holy spirit to put help us put to death the the deeds of the flesh in other words the holy spirit isn't forcing god's will on them on us but we can't do it by ourselves it's us in the spirit working together he also helps us in our weaknesses he leads us in prayer if we looked at verse 26 of romans 8 it says the spirit helps in our weaknesses we don't know how we should pray as well but the spirit himself makes intercessions for us now romans 8 14 says as many as are led by the spirit of god these are the sons of god his leading is not mystical his leading his empowering helps us to put to death the misdeeds of the flesh and his presence in our life is the assurance that we are a child of god in verse 15 he says you didn't receive the spirit of bondage to fear you received the spirit of adoption by whom we cry out ah but father oh that's a tender precious expression abba means daddy papa so when the holy spirit is in her heart galat paul wrote in galatians 4 6 because you are sons of god daughters of god god has sent forth the spirit of his son into your hearts crying out oh my father and this shows an intimate relationship that we have with god when his spirit's living in us now to your question romans 8 16 and 17 the spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of god and if children then heirs heirs of god and joint heirs of christ if indeed we suffer with him that we may also be glorified together we must have the holy spirit he is the agent of our adoption he is the agent of our recreation our new birth titus 3 4 and 6 says when the kindness and the love of god our savior toward man appeared not by works of righteousness which we have done but by his mercy he saved us through the washing of regeneration and renewal of the holy spirit whom he poured out abundantly on us through jesus christ our savior so his leading provides us assurance of salvation you know why we're seeing the fruit that he's developing in us the fruit of the spirit galatians 5 22 23 he makes us heirs of eternal salvation hebrews 1 2 says christ has been appointed heir of all things well we share in his kingdom of glory with him as a child of god if we suffer with him doesn't necessarily mean physical persecution we could be ridiculed on his behalf or it could be just the suffering of submitting our will entirely to god resisting temptation as jesus had to suffer but on this side of eternity we'll have many many struggles but we are disciplined as we walk with the holy spirit go through this process of sanctification being set apart from sin amen amen excellent explanation it always amazes me how god longs for a relationship that's right each and every one of us that's incredible pastor loma kang we have a question here from amanda out of uniontown she says please explain what the trumpets are in revelation chapter 8 and 9. this is two minutes amanda i'm going to squeeze this orange as as quickly as i can the seven trumpets is an interesting study it has taken so many positions of controversy even within the school of the most accepted beliefs there are about five or six different interpretations and variations of what the trumpets mean which in fact indicates that it is still unfolding it is the understanding of it two of the main positions about the seven trumpets are one they cover the same period as the seven seals of revelation the second one is the seven trumpets are introduced under the seventh seal of revelation and the second category people point to revelation eight when the seventh seal is opened and then the seven trumpets are introduced giving from the various schools they referred to god's intervention in the human history of his people the response of god in in in response to the prayers of the saints the point of the matter is god intervenes throughout human history in behalf of the saints also the seven trumpets reveal god's judgments on those that persecute the people of god you find god's protecting care is always with his people but the points that are made that are something we should not overlook the seven trumpets are not the seven last plagues because they are described in the bible as being mixed with mercy but the fifth trumpet is one that brings about it narrows down the definition because most all who describe the trumpets uh indicate that the fifth trumpet describes satanic activity the star that fell from heaven in revelation 9 and verse 1. you can read that yourself but isaiah the prophet says how art thou fallen from heaven o lucifer son of the morning luke 10 18 jesus said i saw satan like lighting fall from heaven so it's undoubtedly in revelation the war broke out in heaven and satan and his angels were cast to the earth demonic activity clearly being described the abyss that is talked about is indicative of luke 8 and verse 31. when the angels the evil angel says are you going to cast us into the abyss but then you find revelation 9 verse 4 those who are not going to be harmed are those who are protected by being covered by the seal of god and it's amazing that the only place in revelation that the entire phrase the seal of god on their foreheads is mentioned is in revelation 9 and verse 4. and finally the reason why we know that satan is involved in this persecution that god's people are protected from is it says in revelation 9 verse 11 these locusts which are evil angels according to joel 2 had a king over them he's described as abaddon and apollyon the angel of destruction and the angel that destroys nutshell the seven trumpets indicate by god that the day of judgment is soon to close this is the time to accept salvation yeah it is yeah there's no way to put that in two minutes that's a lot five hours day about lucifer when michael and his angels battled with lucifer and his angels and hurled them down to the earth they called him dragon then the original serpent then devil satan the deceiver jehovah named him lucifer did jehovah take that name back and he is no longer allowed to uh us anymore or was he not worthy to use this name once he sinned against jehovah okay yeah i think i understand what this person's asking and uh i just want to just state just right off the cuff that i have read and studied the scripture through i'm aware of no text where the bible specifically says that god gave him the name lucifer obviously and you know in eternity's past when he was created and then you know after he fell or after he was cast down to the earth that he repossessed or took back that name the bible just simply does not provide that information in fact we have evidence contrary to that that even after he had fallen even after he had been cast to the earth even after even the fall of man we see evidence here very clearly even in the book of isaiah which was written you know about 700 to 730 years before christ uh so the you know early you know late 700s bc uh we see here that isaiah writes you know coming from god's perspective he was obviously under the inspiration of the holy spirit but we see here in isaiah chapter 14 verse 12. notice the name is used here how are thou fallen from heaven oh lucifer son of the morning how are you cut to the ground how you are cut to the ground you who weakened the nations notice this is in the past tense he's speaking to him about the work that he the sinful work in the the the the arbitrary work that he's already done uh you know in the aftermath of his being cast to the earth and so it goes on to say in verse 13 for you have said in your heart i will ascend into heaven i would exalt my throne above the stars of god i will also sit up on the mount of the congregation on the far sides of the north and you can read through there all of these things that the father is addressing towards lucifer all that he has done and what will happen because of what he has done and so very clearly i don't think that you know lucifer obviously lucifer was the name god given him you know these other words like satan is obviously from the hebrew transliteration satan which we use it kind of like names like we call him satan almost like we call somebody you know jim bob you know sally nancy on a first name basis but satan is simply a title which means uh enemy adversary accuser these are titles but lucifer was his actual name given by god and there's no evidence in scripture that we can find where god took back that name or said no you can't have that name now that's his name the bible calls him lucifer and i think it's okay for us to call him that as well thank you pastor day thank you shelley uh we have believed for the longest time that the world is a ball shooting through an ever expanding universe the question is simple is this what the bible teaches and is science supporting what the bible says or is it directly opposing it no this is from robert in nairobi kenya let me give you four quick points centuries ago scientists believe the earth was flat and if you sailed too far you were going to fall off of it isaiah 40 22 says he who sits above the circle of the earth the bible identified and presented the world as spherical informed before science realized it two ancient scientists believe the earth was stationary it was on a foundation greek mythology you have atlas with the world on his shoulders job 26 7 says he stretches out the north over empty space he hangs the earth on nothing so it took science thousands of years to discover that the world is suspended in a vacancy and job described this condition of the globe accurately way before science discovered it by divine inspiration this one gets me job knew light dwells in a way not in a place job 38 19 he said where is the way to the dwelling of light modern science has discovered that light travels in motion wave motions at 186 000 miles per hour per second not per hour per second so light could only re reside in or dwell in a way so let's get to your question most scientists in the early 20th century believed that the universe was static they even believed some scientists thought it's going to collapse because of gravity but it was astronomer edwin hubble in 1929 he proved that the universe was expanding listen to what the bible says isaiah 40 22. we'll go back there it is he god who stretch sits above the circle of the earth who stretches out the heavens like a curtain the bible tells us nine times god is stretching out the universe we see it in psalm job four times in isaiah through uh twice in jeremiah and in zechariah so here's how i look at it jesus said i am the light of the world john 8 12. light's always in motion hebrews 1 3 says he upholds everything by his mighty word of power and science doesn't prove the bible but the bible proves science because science is always changing the bible never changes okay praise god for the consistency of the word pastor loma kang what led noah to be led to become drunk when ham had to cover him in his nakedness was he an alcoholic he was close to god well first of all i like that question but ham didn't cover his nakedness it was shem and japheth ham took a position that he should not have let's read genesis 9 verse 20 to 23. it says noah began to be a farmer and he planted a vineyard then he drank of the wine and was drunk and became uncovered in his tent and ham the father of canaan saw the nakedness of his father and told his two brothers outside but shem and japheth took a garment laid it on both their shoulders and went backward and covered the nakedness of their father their faces were turned away and they did not see their father's nakedness to answer the question what made noah what made noah drunk the same thing that makes anybody else is drunk this is not a neuter they drink too much and whether you drink intoxicating wine that's already fermented or whether you continue to drink a grape juice that sits there for long periods of time i learned this in the hard way on thanksgiving we had apple cider the real good apple cider not the fake one the one that's really squeezy you got to drink it that day you got to drink it cold because if you leave it overnight it just takes one day for apple cider to make you happier than you need to be okay and so so noah did what everybody else that gets an ibrita did he kept on drinking and it started affecting him that's why the bible talks about that the deacon should not be given too much wine it was a custom to give the deacons when they visited people to drink over and over the elders were not to be given to any they were to set the example but the point that was made the point of the whole story was the response that was the focal point of the story their response and in response to ham not doing what he should have genesis 9 verse 24 to 27 so noah awoke from his wine and knew what his younger son had done to him then he said cursed be canaan a servant of servants he shall be to his brothers he said bless be the lord the god of shem and may canaan be his servant and may god enlarge japheth and may he dwell in the tents of shem uh and may canaan be his servant the moral of the story is simple do not take advantage of people when they are in a position that they can be taken advantage of treat people the way that you should want to be treated do unto others as you would have them do unto you if you want a similar situation that noah found himself in would you want people to talk about you or would you want them to help you that was the moral excellent excellent point pastor dave this is your three-minute question here right and i will jump into this how do you describe the 10 virgins going out to meet the bridegroom if there is no rapture what about jesus and his saints riding a white horse when it says he is coming in the clouds isn't this two separate times he comes to earth i i don't believe that to be the case if you go back in matthew 25 verses 1 through 13 talking about the ten virgins is a continuance of christ talking about his return the events surrounding his return uh it's a continuance of matthew 24 the previous chapter and so if we read these verses and i'm just going to read a few verses here from matthew 25 verses 6 through 13. it says at midnight a cry was heard behold the bridegroom is coming go out and meet him then all those virgins arose and trim their lamps and the fooler said to the wise give us some of your oil for our lamps are gone out but the wise answer that said no lest there not be enough for us and you but go rather to those that sell and buy for yourselves and then notice verse 10 and while they went to buy the bridegroom came and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding and the door was shut notice that the door was shut afterward the other virgins also came saying lord lord open to us but he answered and said assuredly i say to you i do not know you and then verse 13 is key here watch therefore for you no neither the day nor the hour in which the son of man is coming jesus used that same language in matthew 24 when he was talking about the thief coming those taking those left those taking those left watch for you do not know again matthew 24 i'll read verses 42-44 it says watch therefore for you do not know the hour your lord is coming but know that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken therefore you also be ready for the son of man it's coming at an hour there it is a third time you do not expect so this is not referring to two separate events christ coming back on a cloud or excuse me excuse me on horses in revelation 19 is referring to the glorious return of christ but that's a different depiction it doesn't necessarily mean christ is going to be literally coming back on a white horse these are symbols this is a parable the 10 virgins is a parable we have to keep that in mind a lot of times we'll jump into these parables where christ is using symbols and representations and elements to communicate a moral lesson and we often take it literally and we want to apply and say oh this is this must be a separate event from this this is just talking about the events surrounding the return of christ me personally in the studies that i have done if you do an in-depth study from matthew 24 you know again go over into uh first thessalonians chapter four and five and also uh studying this right here the parable of the ten virgins the fact that again the door was shut this is not talking about how you know the wicked continue on living while we go with the heaven with christ because we know that second thessalonians chapter two tells us that when jesus comes back the wicked are destroyed at the brightness of his coming also luke 17 matthew 24 talks about how that when jesus comes back the wicked are brought to destruction there they are they are left in the sense that they are excuse me the the righteous are left behind alive but the wicked are taken in a flood of destruction at the appearing of christ so what we're reading here in this parable of the ten virgins when it says here that they that you know the bridegroom came and the righteous went in with him this is a representation actually of that midnight hour because i noticed when he he the cry went out at midnight he's talking about a dark time we're going to be living in some dark times this is talking about the close of probation this is talking about that period of judgment that which we do not know about we're going to know when jesus is going to be soon appearing because of those seven last plagues that great time of trouble is going to give us clear indication that jesus is on his way but there's one thing we don't know we don't know when that close of probation comes when michael stands up and those seven last plagues are poured out in that dark midnight hour in which we need to make sure we are covered by the power of the holy spirit that's what this is talking about it's not talking about a rapture separate from the second coming it's saying you need to be ready and make sure you are watchful of the times around you and make sure that you have the holy spirit now for when that close of probation comes we want to make sure that our fate is sealed up with jesus christ and not again uh you know taken in destruction with the rest of the folks during the time of trouble because you're going through the thurman mode i took a little bit of extra time there but that's a deep subject yes yes indeed shall we we're going to come to you price adverse selfishness i am trying to understand which of these two iniquities generates the other ezekiel chapter 28 verse 17 seems to suggest that it was pride i would like to hear your thoughts on the subject well i agree with you i believe that pride is the root of selfishness let's read ezekiel 28 15-17 he says you were perfect in your ways from the day you were created till iniquity was found in you by the abundance of your training you became filled with violence within and you sin therefore i cast you out as a profane thing out of the mountain of god and i destroyed you oh covering cherub who's he talking to here the devil from the midst of the fiery stones verse 17 why your heart was lifted up that's pride because of your beauty you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor i cast you to the ground and laid you before kings that they might gaze at you you mentioned isaiah 14 earlier in verse 14 he says how are you falling o lucifer son of the morning you know lucifer had a problem there's five i wills in that passage luke uh isaiah 14 12-14 he says i will ascend on high i will be above god i will i will totally different than the picture of the person of jesus christ in philippians 2 5 through 8 where paul says hey let christ be your example of humility let this mind be in you which was in him god came down from heaven took on our flesh humiliated himself he humbled himself and he was he went further and died on a cross for us while god the second person of the godhead our creator came down and took on this flesh he was totally dependent upon god the father he was totally dependent upon the holy spirit that's what humility is is total dependence so pride is dependence on self pride is thinking that we don't know need god or that we know better than god prejudice is pride anytime you think of yourself higher than someone else we put pride put your own personal priorities above others and pride creates selfishness thank you for that pastor loma kang we're coming to you we're almost out of time here why did god allow the nation of israel to own slaves and the levitical laws isn't slavery unholy that's a very good question you know the israelites the the slaves that the israelites owned were not against their will these were considered more like indentured bought and sold as servants to care for specific needs and you find this talked about in leviticus chapter 25 verses 47 to 54. i'm gonna go ahead and read that so you could see the context of slavery they knew they were they were slaves so they wouldn't impose upon something imposed upon someone what they just came out of look at this leviticus chapter 25 verse 47 to 54. now if a soldier or stranger come to you close to you becomes rich and one of your brethren who dwells by him becomes poor and sells himself to the stranger or sojourner close to you or to a member of the stranger's family after he is sold he may be redeemed again one of his brothers may redeem him or his uncle or his uncle's son may redeem him or anyone who was near of kin to him in his family may redeem him or if he is able he may redeem himself he thus he shall reckon with him who brought him the price of his release shall be according to the numbers of years for the year that he was sold to him until the year of jubilee it shall be according to the time of a hired servant for him if there are still many years remaining according to them he shall repay the price of his redemption from the money with which he was bought and if there remain but a few years until the year of jubilee then he shall reckon with him and according to the years he shall repay him the price of his redemption he shall be with him as a yearly hired servant and he shall not rule with vigor over him in your sight and if he is not redeemed in these years then he shall be released in the year of jubilee he and his children with him the nutshell of it is this is the very story that paul used to illustrate christ's relationship with us first corinthians 6 20 you are bought with a price therefore glorify god in your spirit and in your body which are god's not indentured but in fact voluntary and who's the redeemer kinsman jesus he buys us back we may be voluntarily voluntary sinners or sin may take us against our will but either way we have a redeemer kinsman who buys us back that's right that's right amen wow um i'm gonna throw something out there real quick if you want to touch on it we know about clean and unclean foods but don't hear much about nutritional foods talked about in the bible and how and what we need to eat okay real quick anything that god recommends genesis makes it clear anything that god recommends is nutritious look at the story of the hebrews everything they ate made them wiser and fairer and healthier and god would never have to put a list together if he simply says eat fruits and vegetables grains and nuts and you'll be much wiser and were they they were ten times wiser ten times healthier and how amazing god used it as as a precursor to understand bible prophecy yeah that's an excellent answer and that was real quick we are getting ready to take a little break show you how you can send in your questions but we will be right back so don't go anywhere stick around for closing thoughts if you're enjoying our 3abn bible q a then tell your friends each monday we'll bring you a fresh program would recommend that you really do some good homework on those forgotten books those books that we talked about the apocrypha the septuag not the septuagint but the apocrypha and you'll find that uh the education is good but continue to place your implicit trust on the word of god the 66 books the canon of scripture and also i would strongly recommend dr renko stephanie's book revelation made simple i found some wonderful life there and i think it will really enhance your understanding of the book of revelation and ryan you also uh made a recommendation about somebody that you're reading yeah austin cook an australian theologian has a wonderful book out there uh commentary on the book of revelation so look it up austin cook beautiful book i just also want to say you know i was thinking about the ten virgins we've talked about in matthew 25 you know the most important thing is that we can watch these programs and we can gain all the wonderful answers from the bible and have knowledge but my friends if we don't have the holy spirit none of it matters we need to have the holy spirit in us being led by the spirit so that we have a relationship with jesus christ amen and to that end if you need the holy spirit you need a new outpouring a new refreshing i encourage you to go to romans chapter 8 read through that pray for the holy spirit ask god to help you understand his ministry and your need in your life you will be blessed one of my favorite chapters of the entire bible amen amen thank you all so much for what you've contributed to the program answering these questions and hopefully you will see the fruits of the holy spirit in your life continue to study the word of god continue to grow closer to him just like faith without works is dead so is knowledge without application until next time may god richly bless you that's good [Music] [Music] you
