okay my name is let me kill mr and i claim my prize i'm in a bank on motorhead and um much to everyone's dismay we're still going after 32 years so tough tip buster bite the bullet i think a lot of people see you as kind of the embodiment of the rock and roll lifestyle well why not if there is one i'm probably it a lot of people drinking [ __ ] mineral water now you know life which is really depressing i mean mineral water won't make you healthy because most of it comes out of a tap someplace else you know i'm putting a fancy bottle anyway and um water isn't good for anybody fish [ __ ] it what were the most important records to you informing who you are your own voice i don't know little richard obviously the mc5 jerry lewis um some elvis but be picky uh eddie cochran there's a lot of really good singers back then you know it was like the punk thing they were here and gone in two years i mean buddy ollie was dead cochran was dead chip very in jail elves in the army they all got you know little richard gave up for religion you know again so and julie lewis married his cousin and became like a pariah you know so it was really difficult you know to keep rock and roll going through all them bobbies like jerry lee lewis said barbie this and barbie that you know bobby rydell frankie avalongal and bozos you know and now robbie rydell hosts the show on tv it's it's almost supernatural to see that he's you know and fabian jesus christ the philadelphia boys they were they're all from philly when you first fell in love with music and uh if there's a if there was a band that you saw like a moment where like there was a moment where you said this is this is what i what i know i want to do i mean if you well the first moment was when i saw a tv show called oh boy in england actually before that it was six five special it was cool it was on at seven o'clock which just goes to show the british and this guy was surrounded by all these chicks and i thought that's the job for me you know i mean all them girls and for no apparent reason he wasn't that good of a singer you know thought i can do that [ __ ] and lo and behold i could and i went to school the next week and i took this all guitar my mother had he had the week after the exams when you don't do nothing i went in there with this guitar and it worked like a channel i was immediately surrounded by women i couldn't play it you know i mean i learned later on you know because they expect you to play eventually but it did it worked it was great and i like girls you know i mean that is actually my career the music is just a hobby everybody probably has a different experience of it anyway it attacks a different part of the body or something i don't know it was like a shiver at your back you know like when you heard the right music after all those years of the wrong music you know i just heard rock and roll and that was it that was the end of uh seeking for a right job you know that was a you know you were either straight or you were rock and roll you know there's only two things then there wasn't all these degrees of rock and roll you know all this in like new post modern and all that [ __ ] you know it didn't have all that was just either rock and roll the [ __ ] off you know so um and it was kind of nobody had started doing there was no drugs involved you know nothing none of that conversation with it it was just young kids playing stuff their parents [ __ ] hated you know which was great you know that's how it should be if your dad says turn that [ __ ] down you're doing it right and also i didn't have to place on my fingers but i needed to cut that finger off on the school trip and so i got exposed from school because he hit me and opened it up again or something i cut this the end of his finger nearly off he was hanging off and i put it back in bungees bled like a son of a [ __ ] for about two or three hours and i had to go and get a transfusion in paris in those days that was funny and uh he wouldn't heal for ages you know and then it started healing and that's when he insisted on giving me a stroke on each hand with the cane i said could he give me two on this hand seemed reasonable to me big bandage on my finger no back just started bleeding again so when he hit that undertook it up and smudged him around the head with it and that's how i come to leave school how old are you at the time that's above and beyond the call of duty [ __ ] great bandage around it you know insist on smacking your wounded hand what kind of an old bastard is that i sort of [ __ ] killed him i i was raised good my mother was a smart woman and she was intelligent and she was like straight you know no i i don't think it had much effect on me i didn't want for anything growing up i didn't yearn for my father you know to take me [ __ ] hunting you know like i didn't miss the comradely grasp of the grizzled chin you know who cares you know i was doing all right i just never missed her father because i never had one you know so i didn't care i mean my mother had a couple of boyfriends you know when i was a little kid but like uncle listen uncle like you know they never lasted long then she met george you structure off her feet and he was a petty thief it turned out he was embezzling money from the factory and selling fridges off the back of the truck you know on the weekends he kept going away to jail for like three days at a time you know i'm just going on a business trip there and you go off to jail like finance [ __ ] he's dead now anyway can't help him i hope there's pool tables up there because if there isn't i'm going down there we can imagine eternity without the game of pool [ __ ] off and see i think there's a strong case for reincarnation if you like history because you like certain bits of it and the other bits don't mean a thing to you you know and like the bits that you like aren't that much more interesting particularly sometimes they're just the bits you're interested in and i think that's where you were you know if it's if that works that way then i think that's the period you were in and the period you went and mean nothing to you obviously you know but there again there's a lot of decades in the 60s going back and claiming they were the after birth of cleopatra you know i mean pick your historical figure and become one of their distant children but uh yeah i believe in reincarnation it makes as much sense as god to me nothing stays the same not you not the places you went not the people you knew most of the people i knew were either dead or old and i got nothing to talk to them about because they they got old and i didn't you know my best friend robbie watson from angles he died on heroin overdose and i was about 23 that pissed me off as well but you know like i said lot of my friends are dead phil you know bottom a lot of girls too girls seem to be going lately but it's a terrible thing you get used to people dying as you get older as you get on and on in years you know and i'm 62. i mean i've had people dying on me since i was 21 you know or so and it's a terrible thing you get used to it and especially if it's somebody you don't know then it's just statistics isn't it yeah you think well that's a terrible thing you know but like what the [ __ ] there you go maybe it's god culling the herd i mean i mean if everybody in the second world war had not been in it and lived but i'll be up to our nation in the ocean right now because there wouldn't be room on the land right what did you see in that scene man you must have been excited that all these new bands were coming out there's another person said of being excited in about 1972 you know i i was pleased you know i was pleased that there was a new form and there was so much like oh rock and roll that was good you know i mean people like johnny thunders and the heartbreakers came over to england and they were tremendous and then of course back on heroin you know him and jerry and that was it i didn't like the pistols at first because i didn't like john's voice but later on of course you've become accustomed to it that it's one of the new ways to sing rock and roll and it was fine with me after that um i liked the damned a lot because the pistols weren't around long enough to really get into you know they were gone in a year and a half two years you know plunk owed everything to the hood you know owed so much to the who i mean the who was so [ __ ] violent on stage it makes most punks just fade into the [ __ ] background you know well we always got the punk crowd in england because we sound like punks but if they didn't have pictures obviously see so they heard the music and they liked it so it's too late we got them you know if they've seen me had longer of course everybody was longer it must be heavy metal right so i mean but we have more in common with punk music than we ever did with every metal you know yeah what did you really start to feel man that like you were living your dream at what point what band this band was like well hawkwind really i suppose every band you know you hope for the best with it you know you think you're going to be all right then three weeks later you know the singer's your friend says i won't say rod the band light so he's off you know guitarist becomes an [ __ ] yes i don't know what it is i see the drummer of the guitarist bass players don't seem to raise a lot of concern you know it's always the other to do all the posing and like screaming people always hold things back because there's some things you can't bear to say to people even if you love them you know they're like that camaraderie is basically compromised you know you accept people's thoughts and their virtues are all the same you know you can't really criticize people you're with every day because otherwise while you're with them every day right you have to compromise and that's the story of any working unit anywhere anytime you have to be forgiving and tolerant you know which is what the whole world could do with a bit more of you know and i think having sportsmen as heroes is very odd very odd because you know they behave like [ __ ] most of the time you know and like even at their worst rock and roll band is only [ __ ] somebody and running away from them which is hardly the worst thing you can do to somebody is given an orgasm [Laughter] you know what i mean how could corporations kill rock and roll how could they possibly kill rock and roll rock and roll was before then rock and roll be after the rock and roll has survived every attempt to knock it down ever since 1956 it's not going anywhere rock and roll is just fine you know it's just that you know you get variable light acceptance by the media you know that's all it doesn't mean [ __ ] about rock and roll it means there's less media coverage or there's some unfavorable media coverage but it doesn't mean shit's a rock and roll as long as i'm alive rock and roll's just fine believe me is it still as exciting like it's rock and roll to you today still as exciting as it was when you were 20 and going nuts and having you know girls everywhere or is it is it different now there's only so many girls he said because um they've got a great gift of age you know which to cheer everybody at night and however we do all right it's the yeah exciting really you get a good groove going some nights you get a good gig sometimes you get a bad gig you can't do nothing about that it's like something there's a bad day at work you're not same thing i haven't said that it's a pretty good job you know you made me complain about it what to you has proved to be the key to success i don't know we're not successful i mean we're [ __ ] starving you know like i mean i said we're not starving but we ain't rich you know and i live in a two-room apartment and i don't know what the [ __ ] keys to success is if i did i'd be a millionaire right that's the bee geez i mean what is your uh if you have a model man what is it you know do as you will be done by i never found it better more so than that two as you would be does to others as you would have them do unto you you know that's that's the perfect motto for anybody's life dan said that there's there's ian and there's lemmy well most people are like that they think so would you say it's accurate for those people out here watching this oh i don't [ __ ] know you know what do you want me to say how do i know he can tell you i can't i'm just as far as i know i'm just being the same person all the time if he sees two people that's different but i don't see it that's all i wanted to know man you know yes yes people to analyze everything and some things are best left not analyzed anyway and some things are impossible to analyze you know because if you analyze them you kill them what is motorhead to you it's my life you know i mean you stop doing what you do whenever you knock off from work right and you go home and you private person i don't get to do that i'm running for motorhome 24 hours right all the time so it's my life i mean i know intellectually there was a time when i wasn't in moderate but i don't remember what it felt like really i'm not able to quit and do anything else you know i mean this is it i mean if i'm not doing this i'm going to be probably in jail you know because the only thing i got to left to me to make money if i'm not doing this is illegal right so otherwise i'm going to be a [ __ ] sheet metal presser or a road digger you know a gravedigger or something i'm not peter green you know i saw no reason to stop we're doing a unique kind of music that only we do and when we leave there'll be a hole in that place that nobody can fill i know that else we couldn't have kept people coming to sears this long how do you think uh history is going to remember you i have no clue what about motorhead well one would like to hope for the best you know instead of not consigned to history's bone pile you know but he's done idea we might be in the trough along with the rest of them you know who knows anyway i'll be dead i don't care oh i don't want to die at all you know like most people but if i have to die i'd rather die just after orgasm we're on the stage actually but i hope it's a good sound at that show that's all what else you're gonna do die in bed with tubes up your nose and there's a having said that i'm now bound to die in the bedroom i don't really want to talk about my death no we're not you know basically this we're at the end of the movie man we've done everything we could to show people who you are is there anything that you wish people knew about you that they don't any misconceptions that people have wrong well i'm actually a five foot two woman named elsie gorbachev i come from russia i've got the badgers prove it see i changed my name had my legs lengthened had my [ __ ] replaced you know and i feel much better hold over here boys and girls that's the movie wasn't it great but you can't wait to see it again and you'll cost more money next time so take my money out with you uh i thought it was okay you know myself i mean something about me which is kind of boring however the people that were in it were really good i thought didn't you so uh you know come along and see the stars and me good night and good hunting
