today I'm going to build a working Lego claw machine to put inside my Lego room and then I'm going to have several of my friends test it out no so close to see how much money I can make I mean to see what awesome prizes they can win so I'm going to start by building up three walls and I'm going to build a base we can snap this thing on top of so we're just going to temporarily use these base plates once we finish building up these three walls we'll actually build a window for the front so that you can see in out of clear pieces I want this thing to be like 6t [Music] tall here we have the box that is going to act as our claw machine it is a lot bigger than I expected we can actually take the base plat off now we need to add one more thing to this which is the window at the front and for that I'm going to need a ton of clear panels and hopefully we can find a way to stack them so they overlap because we don't have any half panels so as you can see we have a gap of two studs right here and so to solve that what I'm going to do is take some of these tiny 1X two panels and then we'll stack two of those with a brick on top and now for the next layer all we have to do is line it up with that and they can overlap so this thing will be strong now we have to snap in the rest of these flip this off and our fancy looking window goes right at the front here all right so here we have the frame for our claw machine as you can see it has got this giant window on the front here which is going to be great so that people can actually see in to control the claw and get prizes I made it multicolor on the inside but on the outside it's got this cool kind of still multicolor but less crappy looking pattern so now that we have this we need to build the claw on top with the mechanism that's going to move it side to side so I hit up a couple stores to find some really cool prizes people would actually want to win found the good stuff we got some sports drinks we got some chocolate we got some little Lego sets and the prized possession of this claw machine a brand new iPhone S so I need to build a cloth that can pick up any of these things so it's going to need to be pretty big and also pretty strong cuz some these things are kind of heavy so my first prototype for this it has this little axle on the back that you can turn and that will open and close the claw problem with this is that the mechanical advantage is basically non-existent I want this to be an actual winnable claw machine so there's going to be no rigging none of that everyone who plays and everyone who pays will have a chance at winning something but I think I can make it work by simply adding a worm gear to the back so this thing will stay shut and now it closes actually that's pretty though we just need to make these things a little longer then fix the linkages in here [Music] let's see if we can pick something up with this it's just a little difficult to pick things up this is a linear actuator and I think if we replace this middle section with that we can actually pull it down which will allow these claws to close I think that'll also give it a lot of strength protype number two no it's just really hard to fit all these components into the small space prototype number three we can close it with this motor once we do that we can lift and then we can drop in the price shoe I think we got a really promising design here so I got to connect this motor to this linear actuator and boom it goes that way we could even probably use a uh torque gear to keep that from happening this is one of the coolest Lego pieces it's called a torque gear and basically it turns until there's two much torque being fed into it which is what we need because once this thing closes we don't want it to keep going and make that grinding sound so we can just snap it on here like this and watch this now as soon as there's too much torque on it it just spins but as you can see it opens and closes hey that's dope now we need to build the track system that's going to make it be able to move so you can aim at different prizes and pick them up essentially we just need two access of movement so as you can see if we make one across here then two on the sides it's kind of like a 3D printer we can make it so it moves side to side and forward and backwards these here we go are the gear wacks we're going to use we snap those right on top of this guy we need a gear it's actually really easy to make this work we just need to connect a gear to the top and then put this thing on there and then grab an axle throw it through the gear then on this side we just clip this thing on look at that boom now we just connect our motor so now we can move the claw side to side go that way and we go that way copyrighted this is so cool now we just got to build two more of these on each side and then we can get our forward and backwards axis of movement I don't know which one's X and which one's why to be honest so that's what I call it all right so now this is what we have forward and backwards and side to side which means we can access anywhere and we're going to put these buttons on each side of this so that it can stop as soon as it contacts the wall we'll have points there and there and then same thing for this one so basically it just knows where not to go so now we need to make the claw actually go up and down and the way I'm going to do that is attach it to this with a motor on some sort of winch I guess okay first test motor control so we can open it go forward and backwards we can go to the side drop it down close it and we can pull up our prize dude this actually works right now this thing is actually functional that is so cool but next up we got to build the base with the controls and add in an EV3 so we can actually take money so I'm going to build up a simple base using 16x 16 plates and then leave a hole for the prize shoot so I put down some Technic bricks on top and now I'm using these little pins to lock them together so that everything will be really strong and this will be like a thick plate [Music] now that we got this base we need to build up the controls on the front we're going to put the controls right there the first thing I'm going to build is a joystick to move the claw side to side and back and forth and that is going to be super easy we're just going to take four of these button sensors put them on one side like this now we have these arranged in a square formation anything we put in there will hit all four sides of it as long as we angle it like that so now we just need to build up a simple double hinge mechanism we take one of these little red pieces like this thread our thing through now we have up and down hinging we just need to hinge it like this check this out we can move like this and we can move like that and all we got to do is pop on a couple of those guys and then we'll pop this on here now that we have this in here each one of these is giving us a signal so we got the back and forth and then I just took a button out here but we can push this button and push that one in the far back corner there so now we got the joystick we can build this up and cover this up I'm going to actually put this in here and then we'll build a button on top so when you push it it'll push the brick [Music] button I'm making a false top for this out of brick so what I'm going to do is stick these little rail pieces in there and then all you have to do is take this brick built piece I built and slide it right in and that will just lay right on top of those and finish off the surface and the top of it is done we just got to build up a base on the bottom we'll attach it all together and it'll be really really big as you can see I have this empty wall in the Lego room next to the picture frame I'm thinking I'm going to move the desk there and then build the claw machine right [Music] here now that we got the desk moved I think what I'm going to do is start building up a base using black bricks so that we can have sort of an outline to build off of real quick though if you haven't yet make sure to check out this video sponsor crazy Kai brickling store for your Lego brick needs they have a ton of Lego pieces in stock in their online store they're super nice over there and they ship really fast so check them out using the first link in the description and thanks them for supporting the channel it's actually it's going to take quite a while [Music] now that we got the first layer my plan is to basically keep doing little strips of black in between the colors so basically on the inside we have these 1X bricks which are a little less sturdy but I have a lot more of them in different colors cuz I'm sort of running out of 2x4s so we just got to keep alternating colors layer by layer and building them up I shall build it on the Lego [Music] desk so now we have it about halfway up I'm going to build a little platform right here by interlocking some plates so all the prizes that fall down the hole will hit this thing and so it needs to be relatively strong oops we're probably going to need to integrate some Technic and stuff down here too because just imagine like a prime bottle falling on this that would totally just cave the whole thing in you see right now I'm doing green so many people don't get that building Lego is like difficult especially at such a large scale this is actually quite laborious this is probably a 10,000 piece build so now we got to build it up to this height it's almost done the last thing we have to do is add a money feeder to it so that we can actually receive cash and make the machine work and this is just wide enough to accept bills as you can see so we just need something to pull them through the the back and I think the best way to do that is to put two Lego tires together on a technic beam and make it sort of spin I'm going the wrong way so that'll suck in the money we'll need to add a sensor right back here so that only the money that makes it to the back can trigger the sensor just like that and then it'll fall into the money holder I don't know all these terms okay and then I built this little drawer here so that the money will just fall right into the drawer and you can take it out if you have a technic pin to receive the earnings now we just need to install this guy right up here we're very close this is the last thing we got to do [Music] so uh we're caving oh shoot uh We've experienced a little bit of a buckle because I built it a little thin it's too late to rebuild it with 2x4s I was just running out so I used 1x4s it's not good because I got people showing up to test this out pretty soon we're going to have to add some supports or something there because that is not going to work all right guys I just finished the claw machine here we go inside this room we have the Lego claw machine that actually works I am so excited to test this out this claw machine is 6' 3 in so it's over 6 ft tall as you can see I went with more of a modern design towards the bottom here I use lots of black to give it like a futuristic kind of feel but the best part about this thing is that it actually works as a claw machine the way this works is really simple you grab a $5 bill and then you just stick it in here and it'll sense it and just suck it in just like that and then as you can see we go over like this you can move the claw around inside the machine so I brought some of my friends to play the machine there's a brand new iPhone in here some drinks candy and even some Lego sets so let's bring them in and see what they can win this is Cash hello here we have Ian hello everybody and my sister hi first games on me it cost $5 you just put the money in and then you use the joystick to move it around and then when you're ready you hit the green button it'll grab it and drop it off in the prize shoot all right you just went straight for that iPhone yeah I don't I don't know it's going to be hard to pick up though dude if you actually get that first try no no shot bro no way no way I was about to say dude oh it's going to be so hard to get now try number two okay this took me over 24 hours to build I'm like super proud of this a it a no you almost gripped around it I know it was getting there it was getting there I actually really like it that's so cool what are you going for I think you got this oh yeah working you got it to go all the way up before it moves over [Music] yeah okay first win of the [Music] day no no a dang it you tried is there a refund post Christian's here hi bro hey good job let's go yes hey and we got it it's actually working you guys I'm so psyched it probably made like what $10 this is like so fun no that was all the way it was so close it's going to miss the Lego set no that was so it is actually so much fun I wish you got it oh you got it dude yeah let's go bro let's go yes dude and that comes with a zombie and TNT and TN dude you can even go sideways and backwards at the same time let's go dude let's go that's it first try told you you could be done hey oh thank you we got to put this thing in W that one looks pretty promising it does when you catch that corner back there stop no way dude this might actually go that's it you got dude you got okay nobody move yeah what if it falls here we go this is so terrifying it's slow hey y let's go congratulations thanks good job congratulations I like don't want to stop playing I just want to keep grabbing things it's like addicting you he already had all of it before but it's just want exactly well this is a huge success they're still playing it back here thanks for watching check out one of these two videos popping up on your screen and I'll talk to you the next brick science see you my Minecraft Lego Star Wars versus it went into the machine oh little bit of a whoopsie there
