Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
I like this sort of format! Hopefully we get more YouTube videos such as this with this level of production values, but that may be unrealistic as I doubt there will be enough money to support it in the long run (as opposed to traditional TV Shows).
Any PCI or PCIe audio hardware is good for low latency. The quickest computer audio solution for sequencing I've ever used is the good old cheap Audiophile 2496 PCI card with ASIO drivers. No MIDI trouble and inaudible latency. Still sounds good too.
What a brilliant demonstration, subscribed!
I have so much trouble with all of my USB connected devices. I haven't gotten a chance to watch this video yet, but i have USB connected midi controllers, which have a slight delay through Ableton, and my main issue is my external USB audio interface for recording guitar through a microphone has a solid 1/2 second delay between playing and the recording. This makes punching in a lot more difficult than it should be
I know it still must depend on the drivers written for each device, but on the whole I am just SO much more pleased with CoreAudio as opposed to ASIO.
Of course, there might've also been other factors with my PCs over the years that were leading to latency/crackling/other problems.
But on the whole, it's all just been so easy with the Macs I've owned when it comes to musicmaking. I'm glad I made the switch.
Definitely really useful information, recording via a midi keyboard always has seemed to be an issue. gracias gracias
3 get a decent computer
I replaced my core 2 quad with an i7 6 core, and I can now record and mix with much lower buffer sizes in Pro Tools, so yes. It's awesome.
Has anyone had issues with ASIO drivers for Windows 8?
I bought my first FireWire ASIO card back in 2003 and I haven't had latency issues since.
