[Music] bye [Music] morning mountain chums me again today today i'm starting an amblesign i'm heading over to rydal caves which is a place i've never been to before [Music] shortly after lockdown seems like a good idea perhaps not to go right to the heights although the route i've chosen from so it gives a cracking view of the fairfield horseshoe and the weather is spectacular [Music] there are several routes to rydal caves but i've chosen to start an ambleside and the first part of the route follows the curve of fluffering fell so you don't have to go all the way over you can if you wish we have done it before as you'll see from somewhere up here [Music] it's a five mile walk from ambleside to grasmere but that is not what we're doing today [Music] the road out to arrival follows the curve of the river rothway which is a tongue twister the road to idle fin the road to rydal follows the curve of the river roth and here it is [Music] [Music] i'm not sure they came to try the stepping stones today [Music] little submerged [Music] when we get to pelter bridge we turn left rather than going ahead over to rydal [Music] and then hopefully we find the path that goes around towards the caves [Music] from here nubsco looks much much steeper than it does when you're actually on it which is probably for the best because otherwise no one would go on it what's his pelta bridge from here we go left [Music] [Music] bridal of course is forever associated with wordsworth one of his best lines in my opinion is the immortal i've measured it from side to side just three feet long and two feet wide [Music] it also is something like evidence [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] do [Music] like the cathedral acquiring little langdale these are man-made goes for the slate industry [Music] it's nice to speak older down here [Music] so uh [Music] there you go rydal caves pretty epic great view a lot of wildlife we're going back to where we came up but you could if you wish to go on to grasmere or white moss where there's a car park quite a long round journey back by the coffin route around the back of bridal but it's doable and coffin route's worth a look in itself you may find should you do the trip it's not quite as quiet as i've just experienced it as i have just discovered so try and give everyone space you know [Music] so [Music] do [Music] bridal caves again it's not a massive walk it's a good leg stretcher though cracking views not to be sniffed out i recommend it to you [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] so that's about it for me thank you very much for watching if indeed you still are if you've enjoyed this do please like and subscribe and join us once again hopefully for another walk in the lake district stay safe [Music] so [Music] so [Music] you
