i think i'm in heaven today this is crazy oh my god oh my god lots of gtrs what do you think tyler heaven heavenly and then we have a very very special gtr here i heard it might be paul walker's what are we doing [Music] [Music] damn what's up guys larry chen here welcome to another episode of hoonigan autofocus today we're featuring you know what every car that i feature is special but this is so special this used to be paul walker's car my buddy brian from top rank import a vehicle.com with his stunner shades on what he's gonna walk us a little bit through this car but also i kind of wanted to get a little bit of a update on your inventory so i actually bought my ah3 r32 gtr from you guys the lovely youtuber comments basically say that you guys supply all of the youtube influencers do you or do you not i think we do but i think we supply cars to people that want quality cars and if a lot of them are youtube influencers and that's just kind of how it works and we're here in socal so that's kind of where everybody is right yeah the best of the best are already well i know you guys sell all over us and all over the world too yep so i mean we ship cars domestically all over the united states all the time but we also export from our japan side to countries all over the world everything from 32s to 34s to s13s to s15s you know not here to the states specifically but we sent cars all over the place i'll tell you what this car is super special and there's a lot of history with this we'll definitely dig into this but can we just take a quick walk around around the grounds yeah right just right off the bat right now i'm seeing 33s when i bought my car the 33s weren't legal yet right because they have to be 25 years old to be federally legal to import into the us this wasn't legal yet but now they're becoming legal so they're flying off the shelves they are yeah so this car just turned 25 last month so um it got imported a few weeks ago and it is a super clean example of a midnight purple so the original purple color for nissan on this car and then you get into the midnight purple 2 which is in the 34s and the midnight purple 3 but for now the midnight purple r33 gtrs have been incredibly hard to keep in stock everybody wants them what most people don't realize is that unlike midnight purple on the 34s midnight purple in the 33 is actually the most common color oh this actually it doesn't have the color it doesn't have the color change in the flake in it so just like gunmetal is the most color you know common color on an r32 purple is actually the most common color on an r33 that's a really big misconception i honestly thought the purple was the most rare too for 33s i know that the blow is the most which we have on the side actually oh okay we do want to check that out yeah so uh yeah the bl zero cars are 141 total cars for the r32 gtr which by far makes it the most rare color the r33 gtr did get a pretty good selection of colors but purple uh being the the primary color so what's the most rare color on the 34 now i'm going off topic a most rare color on a 34 like active red or lightning yellow huh i didn't even know there was a yellow i had no idea i would think it's like that like sage color oh yeah yeah the millennium jade yeah yep so millennium jade yeah is on the m-spec nerd cars now millennium jade on the m-spec nerve car is quite rare because now you're breaking it down into you know generation and spec and color it's kind of crazy to me that it's like getting that close like this just became legal by the month yeah and your it's already here it's already on its way it's new to its new owner i mean you have a bunch of 33s too and they're all sold yeah so i mean 33s survive at most a week on our website um it's been a really really popular car and they also made you know substantially less uh so the r33 gtr is you know 42 and some change thousand cars you know these you're looking at around 16 000 and some change so uh significantly less and then you cut that number in half again pretty much with the r34 so yeah they are rare okay let's do a quick walk around inside and then we'll go outside and then we'll come back inside to talk about the paul walker car um that one i've had a chance to shoot that a lot the 34 that actually competed in world challenge right yep so uniquely we have one of each possible legal way you can have an r34 factory built race car motor x and midnight purple show or display those are the only three options you have for having an r34 yeah that one is basically a brand new car and uh we have all three of them here at the shop so these are the three options you have for a legal car interesting legal guys legal emphasis uh i i'm it's crazy because normally i wouldn't skip over so many 32s but you have so many 32s here yeah i just can't believe how many 32s every one is special in its own way i know this one's super special yes so this was hayashi from garage saurus personal r32 gtr so garage source is really popular in japan for building a lot of higher end builds everything from 32 to 33 and 34. this is an old-school setup but he still builds the cars pretty much the same to this day obviously with some you know upgrades you know there's more modern parts available from hks and stuff but um the cars are pretty much the same this one is unique and that has a os 88 sequential gearbox in it this got to be a lot of fun to drive then it runs on 109 octane and it will take your breath away literally this is like just one of those it's really fast racers yeah this is the fastest r32 i've ever been in for sure really yeah so how much power do you think this makes you know um hashi said six 650 um would be his guess at where he would have had it but with a sequential i mean now with a sequential and it running on 109 yeah who knows maybe send it to wakita for a dino day that is incredible i just look at the scene like the scene is normal to you and while i'm around these cars all the time this still gets me like i just can't believe there's just so much and and plus on top of that you guys pack them in and we'll address the elephant in the room or smallest elephant because i'm sure this will pop up in the comments this one is really out of place it's a lotus um excgs we took it in on trade so we take trade in sometimes if the cars are cool so that's why there's a lotus here like this like the 3000 gt this is a gto sir mitsubishi gto okay in japan they were twin turbo all-wheel drive with active aero wait so this is not the 3000 gt ah same chassis same body but it's called a gto so in the us we had a vr4 edition right so that was uh twin turbo all-wheel drive in japan it was called the gto so this one is sold and heading to its new owner but has full active aero everything works really which uh for its time was super super unique so you've got a lip that folds up in the back uh spoiler that comes down in the front uh pop-up headlights obviously this has those pop-up pop-up headlights and the lip comes down wait can you can you show that to us uh if i can find the keys yeah hold on i think i need to turn it on to do it give me one second can i pause this for a second yeah awesome pause fun fact the supras have active arrow too no yeah i've never seen that uh-huh i'll show you yeah this one and mine both have a thing where you can hit the i've never seen that is that a u.s non-us thing yeah so it's japanese thing right yeah so you hit a button on the front and it drops down a thing or when you hit a certain speed it drops down same thing with this yeah okay you're about to blow my mind right now here okay show me this magic wait a minute hold on that's what that is oh my god it says active arrow yeah it's down it actually says it yeah wait so bring it up again it like moves one inch i guess that's all you need that is crazy okay that's pretty cool wait so the the the supra has that too uh-huh yeah it has a button on the inside that specifically says active arrow no way yeah i didn't even realize it so the us mark iv has never came with it so some of the us cars i think you could order it with it new but it's factory option or it's like it's a factory like actual thing on the rz supras in japan what no way it says super on it right yeah that's crazy that actually is crazier than the mitsubishi one yeah this one is a little bit more exaggerated so active arrow a lot of these are gone because you can't run a front mount with active arrow so a lot of these get thrown out or scrapped that's actually cool though i kind of like it i think that's why my debate is do i do a front mount or do i keep my active arrow oh man you can't have them both oh that is so cool okay i like that a lot oh man some more 32s you got a escargot i love these things and then this is the other r34 the legal one that you guys have this one is so clean it's like a brand new car yeah is this is this one of the best 34s you've ever seen it's up there for sure i mean it literally looks brand new inside honestly it's like it looks like it's off the dealer showroom floor like that's how clean it is i don't know if this conveys on video but like the seats and everything even the floor mats everything is so clean it probably doesn't have that many kilometers huh nope yeah this one is relatively low miles and if you look at the engine bay i mean it's let's look at that completely stock wow that color is so nice there's not a camera i i mean a gopro that's really going to do justice on it but yeah i mean it's bone stock as it would have been from the factory it's kind of amazing that it's this clean 1999 huh 99 99. all right let's go outside real quick i know you guys have a lot of cool crazy cars outside i love those so much the cappuccinos yeah maybe one day i'll get one of those you sold a pair of them today oh really yeah i'll send you the link to what they do with them oh well we've got some silvias some more gtr you guys actually have a lot of gtirs pulsars yeah they're popular we've got a couple that just sold we've got a couple that are waiting to go in to get cleaned up and put on the website fd right hand drive yeah it's a monster too single turbo car is really fast so we had it out this weekend it's it's so crazy to me because growing up you know i watched best motoring and just followed option it and basically this has become what that was in real life it's like a second wave of like yeah you got to watch it over there and now you get to actually have it here yeah and i mean the whole 25-year rule thanks mercedes right okay yeah thanks mercedes i mean i guess it's good in a way because now people that are my age we've grown up and you know we've saved up our money and now we can actually buy these things it's literally hitting at the exact time of people that grew up watching these coming into that point in their life where they can afford to have them and it's just kind of the perfect offset for people getting the cars they've always wanted i love it all right so you got a evo ii evo one oh evil one so evo one here we have the evo ii back there um so they're slightly different uh but not too too different they just look so plain jane they are and they drive like really plain yeah it's it's such a great daily driver car bone stock that would be hard to mess with it but i know people like to modify them extensively that's the funny thing is people ask me what it's like to drive my r32 and i tell them it drives like a nissan sentra right i mean that's kind of what it is yeah this is the bl zero oh this is so rare yeah again the rarest of the rare color wise 141 cars neat ute from australia you guys have also usdm prius this is an aero cabin toyota soar aero cabin so quite rare one of 500 cars somebody save it i know it needs to be safe what are we missing anything here we got a uh pow over there right nissan pal we got a figaro what's that in the back a president or something so what is that right so this car looks like it would be old but it is not old uh it is a toyota crown oh oh okay so this is the presidential car right yeah yeah so this would be something meant to be driven in and even though it looks like something from way back in the day this is like a 94. oh my god i love the doilies and yeah i mean it's a weird option um skylines have them yeah delicas have them what the heck this is a real century so is this 12 cylinder so this is like the vip like top of the line toyota executives right or executive executives in general you'd be driven around in this this is the one that there's a hole here uh in the seat so you could extend your extend your feet through yeah yeah yeah yeah oh wow so this is twelve or that no the century limo is the one that came in at 12 cylinder and that had like all the little weird tvs in the trays and all that other kind of stuff but this is really cool like i would drive this every day yeah this is a weird one it's different it totally screams japanese taxi though with this it does yeah i mean that's so cool i i want one of these eventually for one of my cars actually i should just put this on a normal pedestrian on your supra yeah that'd be great just put put a little feeler in front of my a90 supra pulsar and other gti rx is chilling a couple crx's right-hand drives yep a couple couple uh spoon motors or sr20s would pull a premium basically usually we have so many more cars here but we've been fortunate in that we've sold a lot of cars lately there's sir there's already still a lot of cars here i just can't you know there's more we got some vips right here with the nissan sema ah oh you know be cool is to take a sema to the sema show that would be cool i would like that that why hasn't nissan already thought of it no i don't know why uh delica i like those evo 2 evo 2 fc rx 7 n a right yep yep but it's manual and it's a u.s spec car oh takeshi's supra other supra so oh this one's this is the one that i had previously originally and then now i've bought a second car now this is this is now this is the bastard child ew who brought this man i don't know god it's not often we have a bmw parked out front kidding oh no hey i love the a90 supers personally i think it's an amazing car that's that's my best that's the best daily driver ever man they're so good just how they are another midnight purple r33 jeez it's just this is a nice one this one um we bought these this one and the other one inside at the same time and import them at the same time they both sold while they were on the water unbelievable it's so cool i do have to say though the 90s nissan steering wheel with the airbag this came on my 1994 nissan maxima yeah i believe it it's a horrible steering wheel it's and also the turn stock everything same thing too still it's a skyline it is a skyline just so many good aftermarket wheels yeah got this right here cappuccino i like this k car 660 cc's of fury i would drive this this is a little blow-off valve on it and everything i love this thing so much and we have some random super parked out yeah this guy that is mine that is so pretty though thanks it looks great i don't know if it's open but wakita was playing around with it oh this one is a japanese locked yeah right hand drive so now on to the paul walker car that's what you guys are here for that's what you guys clicked on the link for oh look at this view oh my god tyler did you get enough of that cart yet no definitely not i'll take it tonight yeah okay so i don't even really know where to begin with this thing i mean this this is so this car has become so historic now it is a long story it's a long story i don't know how much you can get into the story but i'll tell you my story about paul walker i met him a couple times when he was actually doing time attack when he was actually actively driving time attack i was photographing for that team the first time i met him he's like hey i'm paul and i'm like you don't say i i know who you are sir you know you're so nice and uh but i i it was such a pleasure to photograph him and photograph the whole team the always evolving team part of it is is that it just really showed how much of a car guy he was and he cared he cared about going faster you know i had a chance to actually shoot him driving also improving in time attack i think he was driving a bmw m3 at the time you know it's just like the basics rear wheel drive just learning how to drive learning how to go fast and uh it was actually really cool to see him enjoy car culture in that way and this is kind of part of it like this is who knows maybe he had this car when i was photographing yeah i mean it's an interesting evolution to see him go from being in a movie that's really portraying something to truly becoming that kind of person you know after the first fast and furious movie i think is what really got him more into like okay i now need to own one of these cars i have to have one of these cars and motor x was like prime time then you know so they were bringing these cars in bringing them into compliance doing everything you needed to do in order to properly you know own and register one of these cars that previously there was no way being able to do you know so this car came in in 2001 and it's in 1999 so would have been in japan for a couple years came through the motor x program and was brought into complete compliance so it could be you know owned and registered here in the united states and i mean since then has gone through a crazy evolution of multiple owners with insane stories all the way to ending up here in our shop where we look to kind of push it on to the next crazy story of its life so it's kind of interesting just looking at it the hood's already open and looking at it it was it's like frozen in time in a way it's right it's it's modified by paul and the gang at the time i mean you could see like spectre i mean not necessarily what you would do to a car today right but but like so cool these companies like spectre is not even around right yeah and a lot of this stuff is old school like look at this right here garage defend cooling panel gt yeah some crazy stuff on here and again like all really really good parts maybe not necessarily how someone would do it today and there's so many new things available now as the rb26 continues to get more and more popular again you know in u.s tuning culture but there's so much stuff in here that's like i mean a lot of these companies like you said aren't even around anymore but at the time would have been you know something as more of a pinnacle you know in tuning culture for sure i mean even like i don't underst like i couldn't even imagine what it would have been like to see this on the street back in 2001 2001 2002 crazy look i was still in high school okay i remember clearly going to watch fast nefarious one in the theaters in 1999 i think right and coming out of the theater and like wow cars are so cool i want to get into cars i would probably i i don't even know i would probably i mean the ability to own something like this though in 2001 you know like and do all of this to it would have just been something so crazy and that's what motor x was it was just the craziest idea that somebody was like we're just going to do it and see how it goes and they got through a lot of cars actually before not so many r34s but they did 32s and 33s and some gts stuff and then you know a handful of gtrs and that number is variable based on who you ask and how many cars there actually were but and that's the crazy thing is there are cars like this that are surviving and this is one of the few do you know how many 34s were actually brought in and legalized by monarchs sure so i mean the numbers range from i've heard 12 completed with one exported i've heard 16 to 19 you know so what happened was they brought these cars in they crash tested them you know to bring them into compliance uh they used that crash data to start building cars or reconstructing the safety features for cars as they kind of went you know in the process of making more cars so they did 32s 33s and 34s the 34s they brought in and only got through so many of them before the motor x program got shut down and how many of them they got through and how many completed versus how many cars actually came into the country are different now on this one you'll see this would be like the proof basically of completion i've seen this before on a couple cars like some 32s yep so that would be an indicator of a true completed motor x car now motor x brought other cars in that didn't get completed those cars still exist here but and they came into the country with the intentions of being legal but you know didn't make it through to getting this so do those so do those get grandfathered in it's a gray yeah i mean it's right i mean so i mean because even on this channel we featured toshi's old car the white one right yeah and that one was also brought in and it was completely legalized that was actually brought in almost as a brand new car yeah it was yatoshi's car was nearly brand new and the lowest possible miles and he didn't really even drive that much while they had it so the car was incredibly low mileage and um i mean he did just such an amazing job with that car it's i mean that that's a dream car for sure you know and we've had a few other motor x cars here in the past that we've sold but again we're kind of the first call for people getting you know they have a motor x car they want to sell it you know we're kind of the place that deals in this just because we know the history and understand it so well because a few people here have worked at motor x in the past um and have really really familiar with these cars specifically you know which ones are which uh what are the good ones which ones you know throughout history have you know had damage and that kind of stuff so this is definitely one of the good ones so in terms of timing if i have my timing right uh this potentially could have been the first one that paul bought after fast and furious this was this was yeah this was his first one so we actually have some photos of him you know taking delivery of the car and picking up his grandpa you know has his older brother in the photo so we've got all that kind of stuff around it too so this was his first one so there's a bit of a misconception that paul's car was a black r32 gtr that was actually craig lieberman's car that he had lent paul while this car was kind of getting done there's like a little mini series on youtube or a little clip i guess you could say of him paul explaining motor x and you know how he had to have the car i'm having motor x get one for me that kind of stuff but he's driving a black one in that it was just him using you know the black car for that but this was actually his personally owned the other misconception about this car because it looks so similar is that this was in the movie and it wasn't so this wasn't a movie car it has the exact same sea west kit exactly as the movie car would have had but it is not actually a movie car yeah because the movie car was actually converted to rear wheel drive right so they were mostly gtt's and then they had a couple hero cars that were gtrs but again this one has the same sea west kit just not the same car right obviously it doesn't right that's the same yeah yeah yeah no delivery on it no you know a lot of people ask us man the comments that we get like if it was paul walker's car then why doesn't have the blue stripes man that wasn't paul walker's car that was universal studios how many how many like for for example how many supras would they have the guy like the the rocket man on the supra yeah yo it's a pull workers core because it has a rocket man on site right exactly come on guys uh wow okay this is that's crazy yeah i mean this is such a time capsule so tell me what are you guys actually going to do with this car you guys are going to sell it because we're in the business of selling cars is i think what needs to happen to this car i mean we are in a museum or collection you know so we do have some cars like the race car you know that is kind of a forever car here but uh for the most part you know we retail cars so this car will get sold to somebody and how we do that sale we're still figuring out you know there's uh you know obviously barrett-jackson or there's you know bottom world auction or bh auctions and there's you know private party or uh instagram who knows you know but the thing is paul's cars they have just this aura around them they he's touched so many lives he he was kind of like the actor guy right like you said before and then he's actually turned into a real car guy and he's inspired so many people like myself um and i'm so lucky to be able to work with him before he passed this this is so special but because it's like aside from the supra this is the one like this is i mean it would be like my grandparents getting to own or drive james dean's car you know what i mean like it's definitely something that you know is really you know iconic for our generation and how we grow up and what influenced us into even wanting to be around these cars in the first place i'll tell you when we got this car delivered and i drove it there was something so crazy to me about sitting in the driver's seat and driving a car that belonged to paul walker the person that i'll say introduced me into this whole kind of scene of cars in the first place when i was in high school i mean it was kind of a surreal experience and like you said it's just something that you know i think that the right person is going to truly appreciate but even all of that aside this car is incredible on its own so wow even for somebody that isn't you know maybe the biggest paul walker fast and furious fan but loves r34 gtrs i mean this one is definitely up there as one of the pinnacle r34s um you know that i would call maybe not modern but certainly period correct well because if you do for you guys at least to maintain the value of this car in a way you can't change it at all you like you can't update it but you can do things to fix it right you know i mean so the car the suspension on this car is difficult uh because it's old so we're upgrading it with some new olins that are shipping from japan currently we should have them next week so that is something that is a necessary upgrade to this car you know for everyone else kind of dragging us in the comments about it being a horrible body kit and the wing and everything else is like my answer is you can buy it and you can certainly change it or you know appreciate that this is like man in 2001 this was cool like if you'd have seen this car in 2001 this is how it would have been you know just like the veil side stuff you look at it now and you're like yeah not for me but you know in its era i'll tell you what once you do get the suspension on and it it's lowered a little bit and then you have it flush again and then you clean it up and it's gonna look good honestly i i mean i would drive it i mean even the wheels right they're stern wheels so super 90s you know early 2000s you know japanese three-piece wheels but again in that period this would have been like a wheel you wanted yeah you you guys are car salesmen what what do you actually think something like this is worth have you guys ever had a car like this with this much history history yeah well i mean you have the apexi you know toshi's car i mean obviously i consider that historical just because of who he is and you know but um you know motor x cars in general uh you know we have sold uh for pretty much right around the 400 000 mark this one is um a bit more unique so i would expect at least that uh or more for sure on this car well i i don't even know i mean how much what's this what's this e3 do you even know how much is e30 sold for you know those cars sold for a lot i mean and but i think some of them sold as a package deal and some of them were not for sale and some of them were you know removing the paul walker aspect of the car historically the motor x cars have sold for that kind of price point in general so i think that the paul walker thing definitely adds a bonus you know to the right buyer but to any other buyer you know might just be like i don't really care who the previous car owner was it's still a motor x car but that being said we don't intend to market it you know solely or price it solely based on the prominence of paul walker having owned the car you know we very much want to retail the car for what it is and what the motor x r34 gtrs um you know trend and sell for but the paul walker thing is a really really nice you know cherry on top for whoever purchases this car just because like i said the lineage and ownership history and story behind this car is is remarkable and the fact that it is here is mind-bending to me even still i see it every day and it's so crazy that the car is here but somebody is going to really love this car and when you drive it you will see exactly why let's just just say just say it's a half a million dollar car and yeah that's i mean i think i think that's how much it was worth granted i don't know anything about auctions or anything about really high dollar cars but from what you've said in terms of cars that have sold this is one of very very few maybe like you said 14 to 16 cars that are legal in the u.s to drive with no mileage restriction or anything and on top of that it used to be paul walker's and it was his first and two a collector or car guy that may have everything someone else isn't going to be able to just go out and get one of these yeah right now you know i mean it's you know if you want a supercar most of them are pretty attainable you just go get one it's like that for a lot of cars but this car falls into i think a special class of car that you know for a collector or somebody that wants something you know with history and it's truly unique right now this is something that you're going to buy and then anyone else behind you is not going to get well can we do a quick walk around in terms of like mods like what this is so this really is late 90s this is as late 90s as it gets god it moves it does move yeah and uh you see it move when you drive so wow yeah it's what so who makes this that is yeah so this is actual japanese sea west wing right for the but it's universal obviously right yeah and the whole kit is actually sea west all the way around so we got a hks old school hks super drager exhaust tane coilovers for right now until the olene's going the obviously brembo r34 gtr brakes which was factory it has the stern wheels it has a mixture of really good nismo parts like nismo arms lots of good tome stuff tome turbos hks hard piping kit hks intakes hks fuel rail so lots of good stuff all around the car just collectively pretty much right yeah at the time this was maximum bolt-on yeah yeah this was this was what you got you know it's actually a nismo intercooler i believe but uh so on the back side if you look behind the cooling plate you'll see it says nismo but it's he flipped it around and put hks i think so uh or somebody did okay huh and then what about the interior pretty much stock except for yeah there's like a little uh pioneer kenwood you know deck in there otherwise you have the iconic mfd system in there so you know what's crazy is this wasn't changed to miles per hour like i've seen i think wasn't toshi's car changed to miles per hour yeah but this is kilometers an hour the cluster actually reflects mileage but somebody would have probably swapped in these nismo ones back to kilometers because at the time of motor x it would have been my ico interesting okay oh look at that screen yeah so that one we're actually sending out to get repaired so it'll have a brand new mfd in it that's that's the part that really dates the car really yeah yep i guess we're gonna go drive it yeah right let's do it am i allowed to drive this certain car you are it's very historic yes oh my god you can't even hear me hear that it's good i like it [Music] oh my god this is so bad it's so bad that i'm driving this is it bad or is it good i mean it's exciting yeah it's really good you might want to do something more than yours oh nope nope mine's staying stuck stop forever that's it so the car has twin hks super sequential blah thumbs right here or duel what just just because just to be obnoxious yeah all the sound yes most people would be like none some people say one this one is two wow yeah two twinsies dry carbon oh so this is actually a real dry carpet one there you go one finger pretty light hood so this is actually made in japan elektra cps i don't even know still cool i mean it doesn't sound that crazy how much power do you think it's making that's a tough call i wouldn't even begin to know where to guess honestly it feels in the fives five that much it feels it probably more like four in some change but i'll tell you i have a pr i have a pretty good butt dyno i drive a lot of cars so i'll let you know 1000 horsepower here we go oh right in the mirror here so i've driven a couple r34s but this not as special as this this is crazy i can't believe it surprisingly i haven't driven one in the u.s yet i've driven one in japan and i've driven one in the uk this is not even like a jdm fanboy moment this is just like a fanboy moment yeah for paw let's do it the blouse valves little sound effects so it's pretty laggy is it stock turbos then uh tommy turbos okay all right but it's still twin turbo till twin yep oh okay interesting but it's running 90 watt right yep interesting yeah i could just see it's one of those things where there's just certain things that you can button up to make this hole again yeah i mean it needs a paint correction and a little bit of this and that and some of the you know um touch points in the car need some improvement yeah so because right now the way it is it's pretty much the way you got it yeah yeah this is actually a little bit better than the way we got it oh okay you've already started digging into it right yep okay a little flame there just a little top one laying over you know the crazy thing is i already get a lot of looks and a lot of people kind of go crazy when they see my 32 on the road unfortunately i think it's kind of common you know there's so many 32s and i know a lot of people with 32s and it's it's not uncommon to go to a meet or go on a drive and there's a couple 32s right but a 34. yeah if i if i see one on the street right now it just blows my mind all right yeah it is uh especially since it's four years prior to you know general import yeah but i think even as general import happens when the car is from 25 i mean you're still gonna be such an uncommon car right that sound is crazy yeah it's it's an exaggerated blow-off valve that's very very it's like it's more like a whistle than anything else yeah hks that's interesting yeah i couldn't imagine driving this back then that many years ago the fact that he had this and i was you know 17 years old just crazy well i i i'll tell you what we missed the guy oh man it still pulls really good it does yeah it does the thing is i didn't realize how long second gear is in this car it's really really long yeah it's i mean it really is a good car it's just you know like i said somebody will you know make the improvements they want to make over time you know we'll do the necessary things and yeah try to preserve it you know while upgrading things like the suspension as you can feel right now it's it's needs it really is preserving car history so most people will just see that's an old nissan they'll think it's a nissan maxima you know or ultimate when they see the nissan badge it's like whatever but when it's somebody that actually knows right it's a show stopper yeah it's been interesting to see even with the 32s a lot of you know car people you know kind of turn their nose up at the gtr's because it's a nissan and what's so special about it and now you know they've appreciated in value so quickly that you know people are scurrying to hop on that train uh you know owning a car before you know it reaches a price of you know more unattainable than they somewhat are right now but uh aside from the value aspect i mean the car is the 32 33 and 34 is super fun to drive yeah i mean it's something the twin turbo all-wheel drive is you know an experience of itself it's still a driver car my car is not fast by all means it's actually pretty slow compared to for moderate standards but there's just that nostalgic aspect of it and i actually i love it because i love the way it looks right i love the way it looks i love the way i feel when i'm driving it you you just know it's something special you feel like a million bucks driving this thing that's just so weird it's yeah uh it's just crazy it's neck is getting broken right now in this wrx oh my god oh 34 bro oops sounds good huh sounds good that's weird why is it that the red line starts at nine even though the red line is at eight that's a nismo question i guess i'm not sure why they decided to do that here like eight is like caution maybe that sounds incredible really there's just something so right about the inline six yeah actually i mean rb or 2j really how much does that thing cost more than you can afford pal ferrari about to shift 15 years right now i do have to say everything still feels pretty tight i mean this it really is a modern car compared to my car which was designed in the 80s right right yeah this car is modern it feels so tight the shifting feels nice the steering wheel everything feels really good i mean i'm sure a lot of bushings are worn out but honestly this doesn't even have that many miles right no yeah so [Music] it's so loud it's like so sharp yeah it is it's like a piercing noise yeah times two really you've driven this around a lot yeah test drives right yeah so um i'm more of the person that goes to a lot of the car shows and events and does like that kind of stuff so um i've brought this to quite a few things so far um sean has brought it to a handful of stuff also um you know kind of just letting people know we have it and the car spent so many years you know tucked away that uh it's cool to get it out share it with some people paul had it and then it was gone for a long time it wasn't it was out of the public eye yeah and then now that you guys have it you guys actually want to kind of right bring it back show it off a little bit bring it back and now more than ever you know it's it's cool to see some of paul's old cars it makes me wonder how many are gonna be left at this point that are still that that are um with either within the family collection or just haven't been sold yeah it'll also be interesting to see how many people bring them out in the public again you know like i always think it's so unfortunate when a super cool car gets sold into a private collection and it'll never be seen again you know people shrink wrap it right you know that's what's happening with some of the r34s that we're selling the show or display cars is that nobody will ever see that car again right you know except for the owner really um until years and years and years from now when it's sold at auction again well you don't have to worry about that with your car your car's all over the place man yeah i drive you drive that thing everywhere yeah i i love that thing and it's it's it's brought me a lot of joy honestly my favorite part about my r32 is you know i went out of my way to restore stock wheels right and i got brand new centers and all of that i've gone to shows before where people are like oh i've never seen those wheels before what kind of wheels are there and they're stock it's so funny and and on top of that my favorite thing to do when i pull up to a show is i pop the hood and people are like wait it doesn't come with mushrooms right yeah like what is this thing it's like this wait the air box doesn't look like two giant filters so people are so used to it being modified but yeah the stock you know these cars have become so modified over the years and what's crazy is that stock wheels for r32s have gotten so expensive because you can't find them anywhere and people that want to put the cars back to stock which is what a lot of people are you know trending towards doing now is it's made them incredibly hard to find same thing with the stock steering wheel same thing with stock seats yeah and i mean for a while i'm sure people were just throwing them out yeah exactly like someone buys a car they're like oh throw out the stock wheels rip out the stock seats rip out the stock steering wheel you know shift knobs throw all that stuff out and put you know these wheels on it these seats in it you know stock air boxes you know we pay a premium for because we need them to do california compliance right and there's not that many left in existence because everyone threw them out got it so this doesn't actually need to go through any california compliance or anything this is fully legal in the u.s all 50 states already no no no so it is legal all 50 states yes but california still would require this car to go through emissions got it got it okay so so it's federally legal not only but state for california illegal still well or or not yet or you would have to legalize it so the car is legal right to own just can't be driven on the road until it's legalized right registered in california yeah so emissions compliance yeah i know all about that still a thing here uh for this car but anywhere else no problem yeah and you know on the on the weekly i wouldn't say daily on the weekly i get questions about that about my car and they asked hey why is it that you went through the hassle to legalize your car your r32 gtr and honestly it's such a simple answer i gotta play by the rules i gotta follow the rules i wanna keep my car forever that's my life for car right i don't want it to get seized for any reason i don't want to cheat any system you know i wanna drive it and i don't want to have to worry about the police i want to be able to smog it like a normal car and it's so nice so nice for me to be able to just not worry about it yeah worry free i could take it to whatever events i could take it to track days i've put so many miles on it and that's kind of the fun thing i love it because the ac blows ice cold it still has r12 in it yeah right from japan right not modified still still blows ice cold still just the perfect perfect daily driver they you know and they can be daily driven if you take care of the cars you know i get that question all the time like you know could i daily drive this car i'll drive this car every day yeah absolutely you could daily drive a car you could daily drive any car you know if you're committed to taking care of it you know and um i mean the r32 was meant to be daily driven it was right it was a huge trunk yeah and it gets decent mileage still yeah it's got air conditioning seats are pretty comfortable so this doesn't have cruise control none of the gtrs have cruise control oh i didn't know that sport mode all the time you learn something new every day okay i'm getting better at this thing it takes a while to get used to the six speed those blowoff valves are just so wild aren't they still wild that's crazy hmm i don't even know what to say that was pretty cool these this is one of the good days you know i have some tough days but uh this is one of the good days it's really really cool to be able to drive this historic car i mean he's owned a lot of cool cars right yeah right he's on whenever the e36 lightweight the uh i think they were so they sold his e30 m3 recently um super i don't even know how many cars he's yeah i mean he's had a lot of but this one i think is the top this one's the one to to have i or has he had another yes he has a white one yep so had this car first and then eventually wanted the white one so sold this car about the white car so and i believe that car is with always evolving okay okay all right as it should maybe it should stay there forever yeah i hope it does yeah i hope it does i hope it does and i hope you know they continue the legacy and i hope whoever buys this continues paul's legacy because on the reel he inspired a lot of us he inspired me i it was such an honor to be able to shoot him you know before he passed and you know it's it's just cool to see that he kind of left something like this behind but uh thank you guys so much again if you guys want to buy a cool jdm car and live your jdm fanboy dreams definitely contact top rank they're here in southern california but they'll ship worldwide and they'll ship pretty much anywhere in the u.s true yeah i think that's a wrap that's a wrap foreign [Music] [Music] [Applause] me [Music]
