a while ago i got a call from someone claiming to be from microsoft who needed to fix my computer i played a grandpa and grandma character who had no clue how to use their computer and pretended that i sent a check to them a few days later they connected to my computer again and started fixing things eventually i pretended that my grandson sent a really funny video which ended up being a youtube video of myself exposing the very scam that she was trying to pull on the elderly couple it put her in a really awkward spot yes this is gina how can i help you hi gina this is bernice bernice anders oh hi mom how how are you i i was actually trying to reach you the day before yesterday i was working on the computer and it got disconnected and uh i tried to reach you a number of times uh do you know what happened i don't i'm not sure i'm not sure i got very busy this weekend my husband my husband ronnie and i were very busy um so that could have been part of it but i missed you you were very nice i liked talking to you oh thank you so much thank you so much do you want me to go ahead and finish the work yeah if you don't mind i mean i remember every intricate detail of the conversation we had honestly i remember everything we talked about there's not one detail that i've forgotten that's great i enjoyed it so much oh could you do you remember what we talked about do you remember of course i do of course i do what did we talk about what i do what was it that we talked about well uh we were talking about both of you uh that you lived in chicago and you had six kids and there was this other uh person who was you know uh trying to scam you and then i called you and i tried to explain that he was not uh you know he's not a legitimate person then because you were so kind uh you asked both of us to work together um right and we we tried to work but he was not cooperating so i totally forgot about that and i found out that he was running a scam on a computer so there was a scam that he ran on the computer that was not a legitimate scan uh after right yeah he was trying to kill him for you what was his name again i think it was david oh that sounds right that sounds right david yeah i it's not a legitimate call what purchase did you make for three hundred dollars uh i don't know maybe something with the computer maybe something with my internet let me do this um like i tell like i keep saying like i keep saying anytime you want to come over to the house you're welcome too oh thank you so much you're the sweetheart who are you on the phone oh that's ronnie ronnie can hear us now ronnie it's that girl gina come on over here i'm going to put you on speakerphone so you could talk to my husband and i okay sure sure just say hi say hi to her hello hi how are you hi oh gina hi how are you i hit a guy hit some salsa and your honor the other night oh thank you thank you so much that's so kind of fun i i had a couple extra a couple extras chips yeah you shouldn't have had all them but they were they were gina's chips they were genus yeah yeah yeah anyway so she's gonna help us with the computer oh didn't we send a check to her i think so yeah if i remember correctly i think so i don't remember the work did you did you already send a check i'm pretty sure we did i can't oh yeah yeah yep we sent that check over to you for five hundred dollars we sent that check yeah it's already on the way yeah i tried to reach you uh multiple i tried to meet times multiple times that day but i think you you were having your lunch or i didn't i don't know i could not reach you so okay yes sometimes sometimes things get uh you know busy we get very very busy i'm glad yeah smells of rich magnesium very important people are you married i forgot to ask you are you married because i have a grandson he's very fertile he's very fertile how do you know i am because i'm fertile and he's my grandson okay but you said you are married did i did i ask you that cannot share our personal details with the customer but uh you know i give you my personal number as well we can uh chat on that line i tried calling you on that number but nobody answered it said something maybe i was maybe i was on a call with the customer you know on the other line in that case uh that number is on do not disturb usually you know i'm on the other side well i tell you what this conversation is private just between the couple of us depending on what you mean by couple i know i know i uh what do i mean is that the right line the office line that you're calling on that is a recorded line so it's all relevant to some people for some people a couple thousand is a very small number for some people 10 000 as a small number 20 30 you know it just depends it's all relative that's what i always say you rather say that that's right well i'm i'm saying it now okay do you ever get bored well he he never wants to leave the house but we can't leave the house but well i'm someone goes party like a little baby they're talking about no no no it's a game about wait so he plays video games where he takes care of like diapers yeah well he has two kids why would he make it why would he play a video game yeah of course it's like that's what the millennials are like you don't have to tell a nice hatty sandwich with maybe like uh i don't know all the all the topics all the mixings of course she said a sandwich before like mayonnaise on it i like a chickpea salad as well it's chickpea salad gina what kind of salad is it it's fifth she likes vaping you're right c50 what was an engineer of sorts wow that's fascinating yep and i also for a while i i did some i used to help there was a non-profit that i did some work with and i also had uh i also had a little bit of influence with the local hospital that's wonderful for a while i was a doctor but i you know then i then i went to the man that's amazing she's she's underselling herself she's an incredible woman yeah well i wow yeah i threw i uh you know some people they say you know they say bernice you threw it all away when you went to non-profit but to me it was worth it well my husband you know what my husband invented you can't tell her oh right right sorry it's a secret sorry the stuff that he invented was for the government i'm not supposed to tell anybody oh yeah it's very top secret oh i understand yeah but don't tell anybody we told you yeah i don't know what i'm you doing you wouldn't believe this guy he can he can't keep anything straight oh my god did you did you really do that yes well i i i i mean yes he did it he did it was an accident it was an accident though yeah that was it we had to send a sample of his his you know poo and the dog's poo at the same time and he mixed up the bags i would tell them to put a name on it it's you know they were about the same they smelled about the same so oh come on are you kidding me i didn't know what to do how are you supposed to tell the difference you smelt it yeah you never told me that you never told me that i i didn't want to mess it up so i there i was in the parking lot and i had i had both bags and i you know i opened it up and i asked another guy to help me and he wouldn't you asked someone to help you sniff your poo well i i don't say it like that oh are you telling come on are you telling me that you really did that i i guess i mean come on are you telling me yeah that's no way what are you supposed to do what would you do come on come on i want to talk that is a good thing you know you you guys can laugh at each other you can poke fun at each other and you know it's really wonderful speaking to both of you i would love to have such a relationship with my husband and i would love to be able to laugh at his jokes or whatever he says so many years after my mom you know the thing is i've seen couples were so boring the thing is gina if you want to laugh at your husband part of the problem yeah can i gotta put it everywhere on everything if if there's parts of your relationship what are you saying where you feel like you can't put the mayonnaise on it you you have to work on that do you understand that's okay sorry i couldn't control myself oh i just wanted to make this awkward like old people going yeah i'm running a scan of malwarebytes and adw cleaner so melder bytes is going to clean the malware and adw is going to uh uh you know remove all the adwares from your computer what does that mean exactly like what's the point of all that okay let me let me explain see let me explain the adwares uh are the programs on the computer but so malicious programs that send you unwanted ads and pop-ups so those ad bears are removed from the computer and nobody would be able to send you malicious files or pop-up ads or unnecessary advertisements from oh yeah yeah right and you can see the scan is going on uh we did remove the junk from the computer we are also going to you know enter your id address and make sure you're also going to activate the firewall and this will fix everything on my computer i won't have any more problems yes ma'am yes it will so you're putting a wall you're putting a wall a firewall on there correct yeah yeah does it have like a one-way door or something like how did the how do the bad guys how did the heck is get out of the computer if there's a wall i'll explain i'll explain it to you see there's a little man on the computer like a fly you know how flies think what like a minnow you ever seen a minnow trap you ever seen that people they have a little clown thing the cone and then the minnow the little the large hole that they swim into the little one but when they try to swim back out they don't know how because they could because they're not smart i like i actually they might be smart but they might be spot but they're not that smart you know like a human being a dog or like a like a kid or you know you you know what i'm saying i'm not trying to say that the minnow was i understand you know i'm not trying to judge it or anything like who am i i didn't you know i don't know i don't know what i don't know so okay i was explaining to you about the firewall the firewall is uh something that restricts the hackers or anybody who's not authorized i'm trying to access your computer uh to to get in touch with your computer so fireball is a wall that only allows the connection that is uh permitted by you okay it's not going to allow oh yeah we don't have grandkids the connections which are foreign or connections which are not authorized they totally really don't have creativity the firewall is a set of rules that allow certain connections to be connected to the computer and it blocks children all our connections which are not legitimate okay put some wd-40 just let me i'm sorry did you just say organic coconuts no she has to go to the back she's going to the bathroom oh okay oh no no no no no no i'm saying that we can still hear you before you go to the bathroom i know you just closed the door or whatever but we can still hear you so oh no yeah false a lot hang up before you go to the bathroom we can hear you honey i'm not we don't need to hear i'm not in the bathroom oh i'm not in the bathroom don't worry okay yeah i think you should write about both of your lives or hire a writer who can write about both of you with what does it need to be written out i mean my husband and i we just roll with the punches you know one thing at a time i mean imagine what this would be like in front of a live audience you know yeah that's what i'm saying it would be great that would be it will be great yeah can you imagine like thousands of people like thousands of people being able to watch you you know do all your stuff on the computer and listen to the call and everything and just get a glimpse into our life but that's boring but not drawing there's no fun in that any truers but you know the way you immediately you both speak to each other but it's funny it's hilarious and yeah i mean honestly what you're doing right now is pretty boring but but yeah the it's the relationships that uh it's the friends you make along the way you know that's right uh these these programs are not from a legitimate source okay it's not something that uh is from a legitimate source so they may or may not be malicious programs and if you do not use certain programs it is better to remove them from the computer that uh freeze the memory of the computer so that you can use it it will work faster and you can use that ram uh somewhere else right so do you do you play this game it says epic games launcher epic games launcher do you use it oh god you play games well i tried to play a game get rid of if i'm not gonna remove that get rid of it okay i'll get rid of me and install it uh do you want me okay okay i'll just do that so if you uninstall that our computer will be better that's an opinion um good to go now one second about that video that you wanted uh to show me do you want to show that video right now do you want me to see that uh oh yeah that's fine if that's what you want to do okay yeah let's do that is there anything else you were waiting for or were you able to get every did you get the firewall and everything fixed let me check that just a moment yeah let's let's check that before do this is very interesting you have the account protection on there's green text firewall in the network protection is on there's a green text and the device security is on okay okay perfect that looks good okay hey you know what gina if if we were ever doing a tv show or something in front of a live audience you would we would love to have you on it oh i would love to come and i think you must write that you know you must do that yeah why don't you why don't you guys start a youtube channel channel or maybe go on instagram or facebook social media you know just uh you two are talking uh with your funny banter and both of you are do you watch a lot of youtube yes i do sometimes oh what's your favorite youtube what's your favorite youtube oh i don't watch uh i don't know i don't watch it that much but i like to hear songs watch videos what kind of videos do you watch what kind which ones that's what i'm asking you normal songs normal uh trending song normal you watch normal play i did not send you off requires and i this is just the video that you bought my son said we have to what we were telling him about that other guy david oh yeah we told our son about david that's probably why he said this you said that's how you learn good to be humble scammers from videos like this now oh no uh learn about them by you know yeah customers on daily basis please tell me what to do is though is the one wearing the sunglasses is he the scammer you know no i think he's people uh trying to make this video just click on the start download [Music] our computer right now i'm a connections which are active in your devices oh that's good right now they have the same problem the same problem we had do you see the local advices over there you know these local addresses are foreign addresses gina the name yes because they were in your computer i do not understand the point of all this trust me i did not do anything wrong on your computer okay it's okay if you do not want to pay or if if if it is something that uh you know if you don't want to find it you know i'm yeah i understand but i did not try to do anything wrong on your computer the call that you got today about about the uh refund and everything about what david was trying to do we do not do that okay i don't know if you're gonna trust me or not but we don't do that no one's accusing you of anything yeah it feels like you're okay i'm not very defensive about this and we were just asking you no i'm not no no i'm not i'm not no i'm not getting defensive i guess the only weird part was that in that video the scammer used the net command and you also used the net command yeah to be honest that is a little bit weird gina that is a little weird but i mean we trust you you're a good you know you're trustworthy right you would never do anything wrong or you wouldn't lie to us right see i did not do anything wrong on your computer gina would you want to get your computer suspicious like i would report you to vac you know like if this was counter-strike i would report you okay he's talking about the video game he's talking about the video again okay so okay i have a question for you gina if what if i was your mother if i was your mother would you do the same thing on my computer um are you talking about cleaning your computer right i just want you to answer honestly because we've spent hours with you on the phone and you know we trust you we we don't know a lot about computers we don't want to get hurt yeah what i'm saying to you is if i was your mother remember that i i'm a mother like you i have a couple kids and uh you know my kids mean the world to me all of our money we've been putting away and saving so that we can retire to spend more time with our kids and then someday any money that's left over we're going to give to our kids and our grandchildren because family is the most important thing like you said and so we've treated you like family we've talked to you on the phone and we just want to make sure like are you are you lying to us or or are you trying to you know maybe change the truth a little bit so you can you know make money it's not see i'll i'll tell you honestly see uh fixing your computer uh when i cleaned your computer i would do the same to my mother as well if you're talking about the cleaning part of the computer okay okay she's answering it very specifically so she can be like my computer the same way okay so it's not something that i've done wrong in your computer that that i i can assure you that you know there are people i know they they what about the part where you diagnosed the problem of the computer would you do that the same attack well let me tell you something you see i'm working for an organization and there's something there's certain things that uh there are certain steps that we they ask us to follow and we have to do that so uh diagnosing part i would not diagnose the same way that i diagnosed your computer but i would fix it the same way i fixed yours that's what i like okay interesting so you wouldn't diagnose your mother you wouldn't diagnose your mother's comp so it sounds like what you're saying is it's not your fault like if if they told you to do something that was wrong you're just doing your job that's what it sounds like you're saying yeah that's basically what it seems well are you saying that no if you're basically telling me that i'm not going to answer any any more questions see i'll tell you one thing if i understand that you've sent the check okay but we are legitimate organization if you do not want to make the payment if you do not want to make the payment if you do not want us to deposit the check we would not do that okay we are not one of those scammers who can who just run away with your money and uh you know do not help you later okay so if you want if you do not yeah you know what i think i have uh invested a lot of time uh speaking to both of you i i don't want to going to use that money but yeah it's up to you i'm not gonna use that money because if you need it for your medication you can go ahead and do that see you have a wire virus protection on and it's going to work on the computer so you don't need to worry about it invaders i cannot i cannot i i cannot stay on the phone for such a long time so i'm sorry i'll have to hang up okay gina we want that going to have the firewall and that we're going to have bad people on the computer yeah that's why we wanted you to find you can always find somebody else to work on the computer right gina why would we want someone else i don't understand what's going on i'm sorry i'll have to hang up from here i'm sorry i'd so i basically she sounds a little bit like the scammer kendall from ocean man jeb video maybe let's look it up so i sort of decided i would just lay it on thick and sort of like partially reveal by appealing to her any humanity that she might have left but um i don't know i don't know if she's hanging up because she feels a little bit guilty and awkward and feels bad or if she feels like wait a minute that video like maybe they know it could be a little bit of both because she maybe it was a little bit of like i don't know what's going on and that these people might just be wasting my time i don't know i don't want to say that she had a change of heart because i'm not sure if that's what it really was like if all of that happened and i didn't show her the kip boga video i would have said that um she felt bad but because i sent her the kit boga video it makes it feel like there's a chance he's just trying to save face and be nice and be like i'm a scammer bye
