next guest was not born on TV but pretty close she Stars alongside Wanda Sykes and Mike EPS on the Upshaw new episodes premiere on Netflix April 18th please welcome Kim [Applause] Fields how are you I'm great it's great to have here your dad works here he's worked here for like 20 years it was bring your daughter to workday didn't you know was there a lot of excitement in the in the F well I guess you guys don't live together probably anymore do you no we don't live together but uh we were together for Easter uh lots of uh enthusiasm when Dad got the usual Sunday night text of who was going to be on the show and it pops up Sunday night after Easter dinner and we're all just around the table and he goes oh Kimmy you're going to be on Kimel this week yes I know okay that's not how you found out was that's not how I found out no but uh but still it was great to hear him say it I um uh this this your third big hits sitcom right by the grace yes it is God Living Single and the upws and this one's a little different CU you get to say anything you want cuz it's on Netflix you can use foul language absolutely which your dad never uses by the way never never no IR as everyone knows and loves him here is just you know very very cool laidback Earth but being on Netflix is great and and being on the upshots is just amazing um but honestly being here with you is amazing because I well I don't know if it's better but it's it's wonderful because when I was here what is that on your desk oh you want to know what this is this is your album oh jeez we're going to get that what year did you make this album yeah yeah what year was this may I ask was you know what I'm glad you're showing this Mom this is what I was talking look at that walk is that a that is a walk why actually a cover um a remake of a song that he recorded uh about a fan letter that he got and when um Thriller came out and and uh he was you know just major major major mtown and some of the executives who produced him when he was Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5 they thought it'd be great to remake the song and I think I did it by default or I got it by default because I was the only black kid on TV at the time so uh so they asked me to speaking about being a kid on TV at the time yes you uh when we rebooted Facts of Life when we did that live on here on ABC you were part of the show and Jason baitman who was also a child actor yes was part of the show and you guys knew each other how I'm wondering how you knew each other are you wondering that because are you wondering that yes yes because I've inquired a little bit about this on the Jason side and I'm curious to hear uh the Kim side Kim side yes so you know Jason um was on a show called It's Your Move which was a spin-off from a show called Silver Spoons uh and Facts of Life we were all there filming these you know Wonderful 8s TV shows together oh there he is yeah that's the guy he's going to love you for that yeah uh and so uh we would all do these game shows and things together and so we did a show called body language and uh while we were filming and we knew each other you know before then but um I had an appearance actually to perform dear Michael and the other song at the Tropicana there was this um kind of you know chemistry this Vibe and and so I invited him to come and watch me perform and he did and before uh I went on stage um we were backstage and had this sweet teen kiss wow that is yeah that's yes and and did you guys discuss that no no and then it was like that happened and yeah then we just went on with our our lives and our careers and have the utmost respect for one another and and just uh yeah yeah I know your Dad's here I'll get the rest of the story um from Jason oh yeah um no uh what I wanted to actually I have a surprise I think this is kind of a surprise for both of us okay weirdly um I was asked to would I have to read this the envelope okay so I I there I'm exciting huh yes did you ever you ever meet another toti not that that is your real name but yeah appreciate that acknowledgement um but uh no I've met a lot of people who have said that they either um roller skated around the house um but never another to but never another bring in the other toti there are no other toties you're the about to say come on dad you didn't warn me about that Kim Fields everybody not to be confused with Kim Fields her show the upws part five premier April 18th on Netflix will be back with the defiance
