I wasnโ€™t aware of Edelman until about 2012. There was a replacement refs game with the Ravens where I saw him catch a pass with Ed Reedโ€™s hand around his neck and it was awesome. Also the unspoken hero of the thanksgiving day massacre. Drafted him in my fantasy league after that and heโ€™s been nothing but clutch.

Idk how history will perceive him but this guy has been the most clutch player in living memory.

If Edelman's catch was in 1970 instead of 2017, it would be called "The Catch."

I don't really care if HOF voters don't appreciate his grit, determination, and versatility. I do.

This is exactly what I needed today. Off-season is long, I miss those days of Patriots games and insanely emotional and clutch performances. You will be missed JE11. If there is a God, you will make HoF. The story is incredible. Heโ€™s not the classic elite WR, heโ€™s a God damn GAMER dude.

While I donโ€™t think Julian Edelman is an NFL Hall of Famer, there really hasnโ€™t ever been a player like him.

For him to go from being a college QB to a great special teams player & reserve/#3-4 WR for the Pats (even playing corner in โ€˜11) to being Tom Bradyโ€™s number #1 WR in just 5 years is crazy in and of itself. He stepped up big time in 2013 after an offseason where the Pats lost both Welker & Hernandez.

Then he has a 13 game playoff stretch from 2013-2018 where he averaged 8.2 Catches and 102.8 Receiving Yards per game. Thatโ€™s an All Pro caliber season in just 13 games, 13 playoff games.

And on the topic of accolades, he was snubbed of 2-3 pro bowls (2013, 2016, 2019) and missed valuable time in 2014, 2015, 2017 & 2018 that could have seriously changed how his career would have been perceived outside of NE. But even despite that he was still voted on to the NFL top 100 team 4x after those first two years as the Pats #1 WR (2015, 2016, 2017, 2019). He really gained the respect of his peers.

He also had 5 legendary playoff moments in 4 different games for 3 different Super Bowl teams.

from kent state that looked like he was about 11 years old by the name of julian edelman julian edelman a hall of famer i look at him like he was on the modern day steelers of the 70s and he was our swan or stalwart both of those guys are in the iron man yards [Applause] raised in the bay area edelman was more than undersized he was tiny you take a look at this you're at this game and you say excuse me do you realize number one yeah he's going to play for the new england patriots he's going to win a super bowl that one that kid yeah one quarterback julian allen look at him next to the life before the pros edelman was a quarterback his father pushed him to train relentlessly never letting edelman's size deter him 80 pounds at age 12 and 105 pounds and 5 feet tall when you got into high school which saw edelman combined for 42 touchdowns lead his team to a perfect 13-0 record and win a section title that was the year that julian edelman led the wildcats to an undefeated championship season he wasn't recruited out of high school having to go to junior college in order to continue his career he played his junior ball at san mateo oh i mean that road just created a chip on my shoulder eventually he transferred to kent state so we're absolutely desperate for a quarterback at that point he brings in this 5 foot 10 at best quarterback from california junior college kids he made believers out of his coaches and teammates they went six and six the first year which by the way is like going ten and two mostly gentlemen breaks to the outside add them to the 30 to the 25 to the 20. he didn't have nfl quarterback size but martin saw an nfl mentality [Music] his all go no quit mentality was contagious don't get in your face he'll challenge you we needed him he is the most competitive person i've ever been around and julian does everything with a chip on his shoulder because he's always been told he's you know too short to this to that this guy was about making everyone understand that he could change your mind that he could earn what he wanted he wasn't invited to the combine did it bother you that you weren't invited to the comment i took it personal but at his pro day he posted a short shuttle time of 3.91 seconds faster than anyone else at that year's combine nobody else did the work on him like the patriots did [Music] and after he was drafted out of kent state by the patriots he was turned into a receiver it was difficult to change positions but that's what i had to do i was willing to sacrifice anything anything to get in the league patriots smoke blood in the water west welker on the sideline he was a game time decision bill belichick decided he's going to sit this one out i believe wes welker went out with an injury and he got hit like five receptions in the game for like 59 yards well that's the play that they run so often to wes welker of course welker inactive for today's game so edelman's going to have to fill that role not a big body they list him at 510 200. doing his best west welker imitation belichick deployed edelman on offense here comes edelman on a blitz defense and special teams here's julian edelman a quarterback against david where he carved out a place on a stacked patriots receiving group starts up the middle goes left cuts back to the right finds a hole he's got touchdown new england 72 yards [Applause] edelman immediately retook the field as he was a gunner on the kickoff team hearing the word know a lot to work your way to where you get nothing was really given to you that just creates a chip and it makes me want to go prove people wrong even more he just made the tackle all over the field he's a difference maker here he does a lot of things he made the most out of his limited time on the field someone who would step into any role required to help the team win and they asked me to rank my top five i think most feared punt returners or whatever and i put him at number one he was the only returner for a good bit of my career that would not have a conversation with me before the game catch run throw block return he was quickly becoming a fan favorite in new england all with an edge and a competitiveness that would not allow him to fail for the touchdown [Applause] 68 yards julian edelman showing up in spectacular moments time and again here's the kick that's seven yards in joe mcknight and mcknight will lose on the fly catches that thing i had to work hard and kind of study my tail off and try to just be prepared for every opportunity that i had and now we're here two touchdowns last week two touchdowns tonight the wes welker era was coming to a close in new england at the time when he left and we had we had a couple signings at the position edelman received an offer from the giants but opted to sign for less to stay in new england he wasn't even guaranteed a spot on the team yet he accepted the challenge of competition also twitter when did you feel that you were starting to develop like hey tom's starting to to trust me both edelman and brady see the defender as his back turn to the qb they make the quick adjustment to the back shoulder touchdown at the back of the end zone by julian edelman took me years to to finally gain his trust excellent work by julian edelman and it just again a classic case for these patriots the next man up do your job it took one game for amendola to injure himself now you now you really have to start trying to prove them right because they're giving you an opportunity and just like that edelman was the guy and there's danny amendola and he looks to be hobbled in his first season without wes welker edelman posted 105 receptions and over a thousand yards edelman on a little slip screen made the first man miss and he's got a first down wow third and a whole bunch he didn't make the pro bowl big time play by number 11. boom boom perfect timing 24 point halftime deficit largest in his career edelman began building his legend as a player who delivers in the highest pressure moments on the biggest of stages [Applause] good protection [Applause] he has a lot of moments he has a lot of like signature plays [Music] whenever we needed a big place somehow that guy got opened [Music] himself into two defenders is a great story wasn't even invited to the combine but at his pro day he ran the short shuttle in 3.91 seconds better than anybody else at that year's combine diving to the pylon touchdown patriots and number 399 for tom brady start the pluses and that's for us he's your ultimate patriot making a play when your offense needs it touchdown patriots in the playoffs after trailing by 14 two separate times the pats would turn to edelman to deliver an all-time game-changing player takes the swing pass edelman's gonna throw wide [Applause] 51 yards one of the many dynasty defining plays julian edelman would be a part of good afternoon gentlemen and welcome to super bowl 49. getting a critical mass now at 11 15 left in his football game the signature play of the last super bowl came on that third and 14th play hang again a huge hit from cam chancellor it's a money catch right there tom brady and the patriots looking for a fourth-quarter drive to take the lead here at super bowl 49. i love watching guys like that because the way they play the game is larger than life down three as we near the 215 mark of the fourth the patriots with a second goal to go the ball inside the left cash mark at the three big plays big catches in the key moments are made by julian julian edelman ken ball there's no question about it he's a precise round runner the short area quickness the change of direction touchdown patriots they're back in the lead in super bowl 49 what do you do in life you go right to people that you can depend on number 11 julian edelman the iron man you worked your whole whole life to do that and you get out there and you you see you achieve your actual goals it's pretty it's pretty amazing the next season edelman again went for 98 receptions and 1100 yards he wasn't voted into the pro bowl let's caught it into the end zone for the touchdown goes julian edelman a fan voted honor that is largely a popularity contest but it is used against him by people claiming he was never even a pro bowler brady's favorite target this season what a year he's having edelman for the touchdown but julian edelman so often we saw it in the super bowl taking hits across the board edelman makes the dirty plays the ones no one wants to make a catch and absorbs a wicked hits keenan robinson on the hits first receivers on bad teams trail with eight minutes to go and they face prevent defenses and get what i would call junk yards julian edelman didn't get junk yards julian edelman is in touchdown patriots because the patriots averaged 12 wins through his career quick inside move you'll see him work to the inside like he's gonna work the back line and then he pivots to the outside touchdown julian edelman in the playoffs he continued his historic run of dominance breaking the patriots playoff reception record edelman for a decade made more big catches in more big games than any player three-time super bowl mvp tom brady who has virtually every record for a corner and bright stars through the peripherals all right aikman here we go starting from the 25. and with that they play action brady [Applause] [Music] falcons with a spring to their step the patriots meanwhile walking back for the locker room down 21-3 out of that halftime all but dead and done it was over he got crossed up with three catches 76 yards in a game here is coleman end zone touchdown and then for sure it was game over when the falcons scored to make it 28 to 3 with 8 31 left in the third quarter well the patriot fans except for the most part i imagine it's done silence new england not only mounted a comeback but played a virtually flawless last 45 minutes listen there have been seven comebacks of 25 points or more in nfl he made the biggest play in the greatest comeback in nfl saying it's going to be one of history great super bowl catch of all time i'm thinking only the lin swan one just because it's a classic catch oh my god that's incredible number 11 julian edelman the iron man kickoff for the first ever overtime in super bowl history rally that was next to impossible they have completed the greatest comeback in super bowl history embedded by a sensational catch by julian edelman goodbye 28 to three four-man left throws possible before edelman runs to the 20. slanting left to 15. he dives to the 13-yard line he would tear his acl in a preseason game the following season's over and then he favors his right leg if not his right foot limping toward the far sideline missing the entire year julian edelman currently being carted off unfortunately julian caught a tough break in the preseason tearing his acl [Applause] how's recovery going man you go through the process you know you got to have that relentless mindset and just attacking each day and that's what i'm doing the road to recovery began there's one thing fans appreciate it's a tough nose lunch pail kind of actually sometimes gritty equals great on the road against the chiefs with a trip to the super bowl on the line a new power is rising it's victory i think it's going to be totally wild atmosphere and i think the chiefs are going to come out and i think they are going to handle the patriots at the 2-yard line [Applause] there's never been a player who could you don't want anyone in the building i've never seen that hub oh my gosh this is exactly how it's supposed to come down tom brady has 56 career comebacks minute and 57 to decide complete edelman what a catch four yards away from new england taking back the lead it's literally 10 degrees with about three three degree wind chill out there you can't hear anything everything is silent burkhead [Applause] all of them 11 and 4 in overtime in his career money time money time is for what money players shotgun staff on third and seven brady in the pocket throws down a little adamant opening midfield makes the catch you could watch me talk to an entire city [Applause] third and 10 15 to edelman third and ten fifteen [Music] we're going back baby and there ain't nothing you can do about it america's worst nightmare is back we're going to our fourth super bowl in five years pack your bags start on buses [Music] brady walked into the facility and said and i quote i am the baddest mother on the planet which one is it it's the one that says bad mother against the rams the patriots offense was stifled seemingly no one could make a play [Music] [Applause] no one but edelman in the game of his life edelman propelled the patriots over the rams gonna have a day with 21 catches and 311 yards it's his tracking that way he's pretty close earning super bowl mvp in the process his sixth catch and he's picked up another first down he's been the biggest offensive star of this first half it is impossible to tell the story of the nfl without a chapter on julian edelman edelman's picked up five first downs in his six catches here's the pass he got away from him and edelman slips to a tackle he was a cornerstone of a dynasty after all of that he came back with a series of clutch catches to win super bowl 53's most valuable player award you should have learned i should have learned we all should have learned someone with heart and determination to stand up in the most pressure-filled situations and there it is the dynasty continues was the heart and soul of the patriots receiving corps edelman belongs in the hall of fame he's the kind of guy you just want to be in the in the dog fight with and uh you know that the hairier it gets the better it gets with him the guys won threes he gave us three super bowls i hope he i put him in there super bowl mvp the biggest catch in super bowl history versus atlanta second in league history in playoff catches and playoff yards two physical teams who do you like for mvp i like julian edelman edelman in the biggest games for a decade was seemingly always better in the games that mattered most i don't know how tall he is let's say 510 but he is made of steel electric elusive julian edelman the iron man how do you not love number 11. the iron man can't stop him nobody brings it home like joe it's make it so
