I remember back in the 1990's, the occasional casual would say "they should let Butterbean fight for the heavyweight title."
With reality stars that fight now, it should come as no surprise that large swaths of the public had no idea where to gauge Butterbean's actual abilities.
By the same token, it was easy to underrate him. His first round destruction of Tyson's foe Peter McNeely come to mind.
I didn't mind having a Butterbean fight on a fightcard. You were guaranteed a short slugfest and more often than not, a brutal kayo.
