[Applause] [Music] [Applause] okay my first guest as you will know has the longest running career in show business and he works constantly all the time he's got a new book out which is titled wisdom of the 90s would you welcome mr. George birth [Applause] you don't sit down I won't that's nice isn't it Oh Johnny it's nice to be with you nice to see you an ashtray yeah we'll get you out right there okay good all right how many cigars this is today already what number I smoked between 15 and 20 cigars a day well you see at my age if I can get it into the hole it's exciting did you say anything and if I find the hole good sure I got it I gotta ask you this question to start off now um are you practicing safe sex you should have asked me that question fighter years ago I'm here up on fire I'm here down I need makeup very very little makeup you're looking good I saw I read an item in the paper the other day and I know this you've mentioned it but you're already booked you're 96 now right 96 97 gonna be 96 exact you're already you're already booked at the London Palladium when I'm honored when you're 100 and also I just signed a five-year contract with the Riviera Hotel in Vegas for five years I don't know which what question effect I hope the bladdy was still there I love show but let me ask you sure how long you for doing the show it'll be 39 when we finish we finish next May it'll be almost 30 years I'd yeah I've been on your show for 30 years that's right before that I've been on the jackpot that's right before that I've been on the Fred I own a Steven Steve Allen right all you guys you've all leaving can you get this question all the time is there any secret at all I know you want I know you think the same yeah I'll tell it to your audience okay fall in love with what you do for a living terribly important it's great to be my age and get out of bed and have something to do I can't make any money in bed commercial never come back dog okay one more line okay my sister Goldie made a fortune I know I know we'll be back [Music] [Applause] wisdom in the 90s huh yeah is this a little advice on how to tell when you're well when you're getting along an age or what my I think I said I don't know I said this before the most important thing is to fall in love with what you do for a living I think it's terribly important and I think that I love it I love it I love show business I love show business as much today well I started when I was 7 years old with a peewee quartet peewee quartet and I used to sing on street corners street corners and salons and ferry boats and would pass around my hat sometimes they put something and I have sometimes they took our hats and I was a failure from 7 to 24 but I didn't think I was cuz I loved it I was Joey I did a skating act I walked through the seal I worked with the dog I remember I was doing Brown over there was a skating act and I was sitting in Folly Marcus's office they used to book more nighters and Farley Marcus said to the secretary I can use a dog act in Ronkonkoma I said to the secretary tell Polly Marcus brown and Williams and the dogs are sitting outside who got the contract we picked up two dogs we went to Ronkonkoma we skated around stated with the dog huh have you ever wanted to do anything else near life is there anything that you wanted to do we've never done no now just shell Buster's yes you're busy I love children I love as much today well look here I am gonna be 96 in January I'm going to to say I play a date up forget work I got a bad memory if I get paid I got a good job yeah can you tell me what age you became interested in girls in what interested in girls I did it myself how did meet girls you didn't eat her well that's really safe sex [Applause] you win the game and I was very careful I walked up [Applause] I had I had a very good marriage I know you guys she and I were a wonderful marriage that a story about rich the gracious he got all the laughs on the stage right off the stage say grace even I was funny we were married then about that twenty seven thirty years and she woke me up at three o'clock in the morning she said George I can't sleep make me laugh so I made love to her and she laughed now my marriage is when you get out of bed anyway right that's the most important there are little things in life or more important than they did things the other things that you know do you think you're slowing down at all you don't seem to me yeah not I'd love to sing Joe I dance a little bit yeah and if I get up you're saying I get more money ah so when I sink then I don't want to say what you say we sit here yeah get on a baby we have a very limited man we have very limited budget so maybe I ought to do here okay I'll do it on oh yeah what do you what he wanted what do you wanna do tonight whatever you are doing really well I'm saying well you've got you for sure you've got a repertoire I don't okay you remember song nobody else ever had my piano priorities tea way down an Africa or every evening in the bamboo tree some chip and cheese monkey banjo society would be strumming they would be humming it's worse than but some grease a big baboon and Urbana was the best in monkey land he played right diagram this big bad bull horse requested to compose it so one night in June rotor thing too chunky and he called of think the monkey and they gave it to the band to play the night was a sight when the monkeys there began to swing and sway when the monkeys through the monkey rag that's where which monkey was on a Jag laughs and trulia sides with crackers while they curl the tails weight on the back everybody's crazy about to rag that rag off you chunky monkey they call the fame the monkey donkey chunky monkey right [Music] [Applause] it's always a great kick to have you here the book is called George Burns a wisdom of the 90s and make me a promise as long as you're gonna play the Palladium when you're 100 and you got the contract with the hotel would you come back here at the same time you're wanting one of the last my stuff yeah sure why you retiring I'm not retiring I'm just leaving this show I don't understand for tyre oh I won't do that curse you go when you retire you do nothing what this guy's out our club that ever tried they play with their cuticles stencil never play with the girls it's not it's not a fun side
