hello my name is Bodie Hodge and I've been with the Ministry of Answers in Genesis about 18 years now and I one of the things I wanted to talk to you today about is Jesus a little bit more about Jesus going all the way back through the old and the New Testament but I like to have some fun so hopefully gonna have some fun even though this talk boy we really dive into a lot of stuff particularly in the Old Testament so hopefully you guys enjoy the ride we can have a good time with us I'm gonna let you know upfront because this is the last talk of the conference I get to go a little bit longer so consider this the extended version so it's almost like you got a bonus on this one but let's start with a little bit of fun was Adam and Eve's last name Murphy why do you ask well since they were the ones that brought bad things into God's perfect creation I figured Murphy's Law was named after them if you guys know much about Murphy's Law if anything can go wrong it will go wrong but kind of a clever one here just kind of relate how bad things in the world actually go back to the very first sin but you know I titled this talk Jesus is the god of the Old Testament one of the reasons I wanted to do that is Jesus is all throughout the Old Testament he's all throughout the New Testament obviously but we're in a culture where people want to attack God in his word and they actually want to disconnect Jesus from the Old Testament sometimes you even hear this claim oh well the god of the New Testament is different from that god of the Old Testament that that God of a New Testament he's a loving nice forgiving gracious God but that God of the Old Testament boy he's he's judgmental and things like that actually the same god of the New Testament is the same God as the Old Testament in both cases you'll see grace in both cases you'll see judgment so it is a consistent God from the Old Testament to the New Testament and Jesus Christ the Son of God is the creator God himself and see that surprises some people in our culture because there's a lot of people who want to disrespect the God they want to dis re disrespect the Bible they want to put the Bible aside and they want to appeal to something else friends I want to encourage you to get back to the Bible the old and the New Testament are the written word of God from the very first to the very last verse and Jesus Christ is the creator God himself he is the God of the Old Testament he is the god of the New Testament he is the God of the Bible and I'm going to talk further about that and the triune nature of Jesus Christ from Scripture but I also want to run through this in a little bit more detail because if you look at this when people want to separate out the god of the New Testament from the God of the Old Testament that's actually fallacious that's actually called a properly called a bifurcation fallacy that's an either-or fallacy it's not an either/or it's actually both in this instance so you got to be careful of some of the fallacious arguments that people want to bring up when they argue against God in his word in fact Jesus said in John 546 if you believed Moses you would believe me for he wrote about me now that's interesting you do a search for for Jesus in you know the books of Moses the Torah the first five books of the Bible your honor you're not gonna find Jesus there but he's all throughout those pages you just have to look now I've had people all throughout the world want to object to God in his work now I want to look at that for a moment because when people want to separate the god of the New Testament from the God of the Old Testament what they're doing is they're attacking God knows where they're objecting to God in his word and I will look at the objection to God in his word so consider consider an atheist an atheist does not believe the Word of God now a little bit deeper to that there are no true atheists and I'm going to say that right up front because according to Romans chapter one all people know that God exists and what it is is they are trying to suppress that knowledge so when someone claims to be an atheist they're trying to suppress that knowledge within them that there is a God so we need to be very careful with that but when they're trying to suppress the Word of God they're trying to suppress God they're trying to suppress that knowledge what they're doing is they're objecting to God in His Word for example Richard Dawkins one of the world's leading atheists he says and this is a longer quote says I've got a broken into two slides here it says it is even possible to mount a serious though not widely supported historical case that Jesus never lived at all as has been done by among others professor GA wells he continues although Jesus probably existed reputable biblical scholars do not in general the New Testament is a reliable record of what actually happened in history and I shall not consider the Bible further as evidence for any kind of deity now I want you to notice something in these quotes here let me back up see what I highlighted I highlighted others who is Richard Dawkins appealing to to object to God in his word he's appealing to other people and then what does he do I highlighted the word I he's appealing to himself so he's appealing to other people and he's appealing to himself as an objection to God in his word now I want you to notice that's actually fallacy - it's called a faulty appeal to Authority also known as a false authority fallacy or a misplaced authority fallacy uh let me explain why there is no greater authority than God in His Word dr. Greg Bahnson died a few years ago he was an incredible pastor an apologist incredible debater by the way he said and this is there's so much truth behind this if God is God then who or what Authority could be higher than his there cannot be an authority higher than God's when you look at the God of the Bible he is all-knowing he is all-powerful he is all present there is no greater God than that so when somebody wants to object to God in His Word what they're doing they're appealing to a lesser authority in the case of Richard Dawkins he was a he was appealing to people himself or other people people are not in a position of equal to God in his word there is no authority greater than God in His Word so what they're doing is they're appealing to a lesser authority that is a faulty appeal to Authority fallacy by what authority then can someone object to God in his word whether you're an atheist whether you're a Hindu whether you're someone that follows Islam a Muslim that is no matter who it is they must appeal to an authority lesser than God in his words to object to God's Authority is a fallacy misplaced authority fallacy false authority fallacy call what you will but essentially if you're going to object to God in his word what you're trying to do is elevate people elevate man's ideas to supersede God in his word that's your claim to be God yourself basically makes man out to be God that is a fallacy in and of itself now I've already mentioned a handful of religions already in this talk we're going to deal with certain religions as we go through Jesus and a lot of his aspects throughout the old New Testament just so you can follow that connection but I'm gonna make a very bold statement here there are only two religions in the world gods and not gods that's all it is you either start with God in his word or by default you must reject God in his word by some human authority even if it is demonic or satanic or whatever it might be it still comes through the mind of man that's ultimately the religion of man so you've got to authorities God's Word and man's Word and what man's ideas are elevated to supersede God knows where that's the religion of humanism and it's brought a sense all other religions all of them one way or another have taken man's ideas and elevated them and use those to take people away from God in his word that's what it is it's a battle over ultimately two religions now of course that humanistic religion can be broken down into host of different ones but it actually immediately breaks into four major types of false religious you have your Eastern mysticism that is the religions that say everything is spirit there is no material none of this stuff really exists you're actually deceived into thinking that these things exist you have your moralistic mythical religions either your pagan religions for example it also includes things like Buddhism and Confucianism they have some sort of moral code but they have no absolute God like the God of the Bible that informs them what truth is in fact with a lot of those religions they're just arbitrary they're just people's ideas and whims because know God has ultimately revealed the absolute truth now in some of those religions the universe is seen as their God or they can have a multitude of lesser gods but none of them are even on par with the God of the Bible they are all arbitrary religions if you look at the secular and atheistic religions they're the exact opposite of the Eastern mystical religions they say everything that exists is material think of the material universe think matter and energy they say there's no spiritual there's no God for example that's why they are largely atheist materialistic or naturalistic religious of course there's so many problems with that for example what's the mass of logic or truth or love none of those things would ultimately exist if you are consistent in that religion for example and then you have what we call the counterfeits of Christianity religions that look or act something like Christianity but then they deviate because a man's ideas for example Mohammad or Charles taze Russell or Joseph Smith their ideas are elevated to take people away from the plain teachings in Scripture you see those are the types of things that we see usually with the counterfeit of Christianity they do one of two things sometimes they do both they subtract something from God in his word or change it or they add to it those are both huge problems we'll deal with some of that later on in this talk but I want to get back to what is the Bible what is the Bible the Bible consists of 66 books from Genesis to Revelation it's a way we have them outlined in our our common Bibles here the 66 books of the Bible are the revealed Word of the omnipresent omnipotent omniscient personal Creator God who is the way the truth and the life and who is the basis for existence and the one who sustains it he is the God of the Old Testament and the New Testament is what that is this God is the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and you see there is no greater authority than God's Word consider this for a moment the Word of God comes with the authority of God himself that's pretty powerful when you think about it that is an incredible authority the Bible comes without authority see God being the very standard of truth knowledge logic reason love morality science history and so forth these all stem from the Bible being true because God exists and these things are revealed to us God is the truth for example God is love the whole reason we can do logic and knowledge and have reason and do science is because the Bible is true so all of the worldviews believe it or not whether you realize this or not they are subjective standards and they must borrow from God in his word to make sense of things like truth and knowledge and see that's kind of an interesting thing right there I've got people say well how do you know the Bible is true just when somebody asks that question they're assuming knowledge is true they're assuming truth is truth they they assume those things exist whereas those things come from they actually come from the truth of God in this work there's nothing wrong with that but just to ask the question it's predicated on the Bible being true it's pretty powerful when you think about it remember if God is God then who or what Authority could be higher than his there cannot be an authority higher than God's so let's look at God's words let's look at Jesus Christ throughout the Old Testament from prophecies to incarnation we're gonna we're gonna do a broad jump through here let's look at Christ the Creator let's just look at Genesis 1 to 11 for a moment do you realize Christ is intimately involved there one of the things that we like to tell people is that what is the first miracle of Jesus recorded in the Gospels a lot of people instantly jump up Holly turn water into wine no it was creation in John chapter 1 see if you jump back to the very very first verse of the Bible in the beginning God created the heavens there it's probably almost don't even need to put it up here people seem to know that that verse very well see we go back Christ is right there intimately involved in the creation we even read that in John chapter 1 I love this John 1:1 through 3 and the beginning was the word and the word with with was with God and the Word was God he was in the beginning with God all things were made through him and without him not was not anything made that was made now it's interesting we do have some people in our culture that want to reinterpret this they don't want the word to be God because Jesus is the word here just saying in case you guys are understanding the context here and the word became flesh and dwelt among us we read that later on in John chapter 1 now the word was God there are some people want to say the word was a God hello boy all the sudden that changes the whole meaning the whole context of everything but you know what it also destroys their very point when people want to have it created Jesus instead of Jesus being the creator the being God all of a sudden you got a big problem with John 1 verse 3 here because everything that was made everything that was essentially created everything that was made was made by Christ so Christ has created than Christ made himself it's illogical Christ is God and his first order of business was creation Deuteronomy 32:4 says that this initial work was perfect the work of creation was absolutely perfect the rock this is speaking of God here his work is perfect for all his ways are justice a God of faithfulness and without iniquity just and upright as he you see was a perfect creation at the end of the creation week God saw everything that he had made and behold it was very good it really was perfect I've had people come up to me and they say you know if God is all-powerful why didn't you make the world perfect we did it's because a man sinned that the world is in the state that it's in it's because a man sin that death and suffering came to the world it's because of man's sin that God cursed the ground curse the animals and sentence man to die that's why we need a Savior in Jesus Christ to save us from sin and death you see it's our fault but God originally made it perfect it was very good there was no death bloodshed suffering cancer there's no baldness it was perfect creation but you know Christ was intimately involved there the whole time he created Adam from dust created Eve from Adam side he was intimately involved right there he was the one who gave the command to Adam that you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil then we see Christ at the fall Satan falls deceived the woman through the use of a serpent it's interesting why would he go go for the woman she ever stopped to think about that do you realize that Eve never got a chance to see God created me anything Adam at least got a got a chance to see what the Lord did with his side and created Eve made things grow out of the ground right before me he at least got a taste of God's power but even never got the chance to see anything so when the serpent deceives the woman it's very clever deception there's a lot more behind that as well but notice when Adam and Eve sinned against God but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat from the day that you eat of it you shall surely die and they ate and it brought sin and death into the world and what did the Lord do he sought after him the Lord was walking in the cool of the day he called out for for him you see Christ is intimately involved right there Christ was the one who called down the the curse on the serpent he was the one that gave the promise for a seed in Genesis 3 verse 15 it's incredible stuff you know weren't a culture that oftentimes neglects early pages of Genesis Genesis 1 Genesis 2 Genesis 3 they actually want to say well doesn't suffering they've been in the world for for millions and billions of years we see all these fossil layers and these fossil layers they contain all so it's a death then of animals eating other animals we see cancer and tuberculosis in those fossil record so they they want to say well we have all those millions of years of death pain and struggling is suffering long before Adam and Eve ever sinned that's a problem actually if you start with the Bible the majority of those rock layers were laid down at the time of the flood and then since the time of the flood the rest of those fossil layers have been laid down but but look at this concept in millions of years and death there are some Christians today okay we'll take millions years of death pain suffering in those rocklers let's put it in the Bible somewhere where'd you put it you can't fit it between between Mary Jesus can't fit it between David Nathan man you can't fit it between Methuselah Lamech yeah you got to go back before Adam because you get fitted in those genealogies there's a continuous lineage in Luke chapter 3 from Adam to Christ you can't fit millions years in there so there were some Christians said maybe we got to go back there to that first chapter in Genesis that's where you put millions of years well where do you put it in here we've had some Christians say maybe we put millions of years out here before time existed I could have millions years of time of time didn't exist doesn't make any sense gap theorist popularized by man named Thomas Chalmers he said well maybe take Genesis 1:1 you let's just separate it out put all those long ages in there maybe that's when Lucifer found there's a Luciferian flood and then we don't have to worry about it progressive creation they think the days of creation they stretch them out to be millions and billions years long day age does that then you have variant forms of theistic evolution there's theistic evolution proper you get framework hypothesis Waltons view there's there's so many of them nowadays really with the istic evolution take Genesis chapter 1 all the way up to Genesis chapter 11 throw it out you basically reinterpret it so heavily it's unrecognizable replace it with Big Bang evolution and millions of years and you just take up with Abraham but see as soon as you do that you got problems you've got huge problems just look at the order of creation as soon as you put millions of years into Genesis chapter 1 you got problems let's just look at some of these differences between millions of years in biblical creation according to the long age scenario you have the Sun before the earth according the Bible had the earth before the Sun Sun wasn't made till day for the earth was made on day one I can go all through these but I'm just gonna pull out some of the highlights number five here stars before the earth hold it we had earth before the Stars if you continue the long Age scenario you have death before man according to the Bible you have death as the result of man's sin number twelve land reptiles before birds hold it according the Bible we had birds before land reptiles which means things like dinosaurs did not evolve into birds birds were actually around before dinosaurs you see that reflected on number 17 if you continue we have some of these others in sex before mammals for example we have mammals before insects you know if you look at number 19 here I like to highlight this one son before the plants and well according by web plants for the Sun plants are actually made on day three the Sun was made on day four I've had people who I how can you have plants before the Sun it's not a big deal silver night this happens all the time that's what happens with our day/night cycle it's not a big deal but see if you put millions of years into Genesis chapter one you've also got another big problem consider this if you have millions years of death paint struggling suffering extinction you put all that into Genesis chapter one to reinterpret it here the problem at the end of the creation week God saw everything that he had made and behold it was very good that makes death very good that makes suffering very good that makes cancer very good that makes coronavirus very good all those types of things would be very good makes thorns and thistles very good if Satan had fallen between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2 that makes Satan in his sinful state very good that makes send very good of course that's illogical no no sin and death came after this declaration that everything was very good wasn't till Genesis chapter 3 when Satan had fallen and Adam and Eve had fallen that's when death and suffering came into the world so those rock layers being evidence of the flood of Noah's day makes perfect sense of course like I said we've had rock layers since that time but I want you to consider something here Christ was intimately involved in all this what the Lord had had planted a garden eastward in Eden it was a perfect garden he he prepared it and he presented it to Adam and Eve there it was but when Adam and Eve elevated their own thoughts to supersede God and deny what God had said I think I kicked out of the Garden of Eden hey go make your own garden it's really what happened in the course of time Abel offered a fat portion which was an acceptable sacrifice he mimicked what God did in Genesis 3:21 the Lord God made garments of skin to clothes Adam and Eve see the punishment for sin was death so the solution had to involve death and so what happened was the Lord sacrificed animals to cover Adam and Eve sinned that's why we wear clothes today this goes back this is the doctrine of clothing we see our Adam here wearing clothes Abel offered fat portions that was an acceptable sacrifice Cain didn't what it came to he offered the firstfruits not that that's bad but that wasn't an acceptable sacrifice for sin so he goes out and he murders his brother righteous Abel then his blood spilt out on the ground the Lord put a mark on put a mark on him on Kanan sent him away to the Land of Nod which means the land of wandering so he takes his wife there you might be wondering where it can't get his life very popular question actually originally brothers and sisters originally married in Genesis 5 for Adam Eve had other sons and daughters for originally brothers and sisters married as possible Cain's wife was a nice but either way brothers and sisters originally had to marry that's not a problem originally it wasn't till Leviticus chapter 18 that's when Moses first said no more clothes in her marriage that's when God first gave that command before that it was ok Moses his father for example he actually married his aunt jock Abed Abraham married his half-sister Sarah those things were okay until the time of Leviticus chapter 18 but considered these blood sacrifices do you realise Noah offered sacrifices after the flood Abraham offered sacrifices the Israelites did but that's all pointing to the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who's the ultimate and final sacrifice these sacrificial occurrences that that began in Genesis 3:21 went through Abel went through Noah these are all pointing to the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ you see you can see Christ right through this thread well after Cain kills Abel and things start to continue to get worse about 1,650 years later I think it's pretty bad they're pretty bad we probably had all sorts of child sacrifice there was all sorts of violence and murder every thought was evil all the time but Noah was found righteous in the sight of the Lord and then we see Christ in his involvement at the flood he actually informs Noah to build an ark 300 by 50 by 30 cubits it's a pretty good-size vessel you can go to the Ark Encounter and see its size but Christ was intimately involved right there not only to give the instructions the Lord brought the animals to Noah and on top of that he shut them in and those entered male and female of all flesh went in as God had commanded him and the Lord shut him in the Lord was right there intimately involved the Lord Jesus right there very violent group of people were met by a very violent flood because they did not repent and listen to the preacher of righteousness that the Lord had sent to him just to give you a taste of the flood you have forty days and nights of rain the flood was not longer than 40 days and nights this is the initial rainfall that raises up the ark that part of that forty days includes five months of flooding where it goes up to a peak about 150 days where it prevails any about which is five months about five months of recession time where the water is going down and the about two months of drawing time if you apply this to the old 360-day calendar which a lot of ancients used this would be a three hundred and seventy day flood 371 depending on your rounding now I understand if you use a different calendar you can have variation the point is the flood would have occurred for somewhere in the neighborhood of about a year so it was a long time just imagine being cooped up in an ark like that for you know with just your family would you guys be ready to get off the I know a lot of people out there right now watching this are involved if coronavirus they're being quarantined they're like man I'm in my house with my family for a couple of weeks this is driving me nuts imagine a whole year the Christ was intimately involved and he was the one that called Noah and the animals off the ark Christ at Babel Genesis 11:9 that's why it's called Babel because they're the Lord confused the language of the whole world from there the Lord scattered them over the face of the whole earth see the Lord came down to see the city in the and the towers his sons a minute but they were trying to defy God's command to be fruitful multiply and fill the earth instead they came together they tried to defy God and the Lord came down and confuse her language we see a reflection of this breakdown in Genesis chapter 10 the chronological count is Genesis chapter 11 1 2 9 but the breakdown the significance of it is in Genesis chapter 10 you have Noah you have his three sons then you see grandsons and you see great grandsons then you see great great great sounds great great great grandsons even some great great great great great grandsons and of course you see other sons and daughters in here that we've learn about in Genesis chapter 11 so there may have been actually a few more than this these different families go to different parts of the world what splits apart the gene pool people went to Africa took genes for darker skin people went to the Orient took genes for almond shaped eye people went to Australia took genes for dark-skinned people went to places like Sweden took jeans fur for lighter-skinned beena what we're all related which means we're all sinners we're all in need of Jesus Christ no matter what we look like you see we're all part of the one race the human race if somebody tries to tell you there's a multitude of races some are high or some are lower they want to start breaking you down into into these different so-called races friends there's something wrong with that according the Bible we are one race we all go back to Adam and Eve but what about that variation in skin tone actually it's not a problem Fadiman Eve were somewhere in the neighborhood of middle brown in their original genetics they could have had children who are really dark - really light in one generation one generation you know we still see a reflection of that in today's culture I love this example this is twin credible - two sets of two-tone twins absolutely incredible go show friends there's one race human race we need to start looking after each other you know the Bible gives the answer to racism right here but why is that some people are darker why is that some people are lighter friends all it has to do with if melanin I mean there's a couple of forms of melanin but melanin is that brownish pigment that appears in your skin if your genetics they produce more melanin you can be a little darker if it's those produced less melanin you're gonna be a little lighter it's the same sort of thing with your eye color more melanin darker brown eyes less melanin you're gonna get things like green eyes or blue eyes and so forth so you can get variation in that you see it comes down to our variation within our genetics some people have a rounded eye some people have an almond-shaped eye friends we have variations in hair facial hair you name it we have all sorts of variations that's a beautiful thing we need to start recognizing that let's look at some of the Messianic prophecies throughout the Old Testament I gave you a taste right there of Christ in Genesis 1 to 11 now let's look at some of the specific messianic prophecies there are so many of these it you know I'm only going to give you a sample and a taste here what about this word Messiah it's actually the Greek word Christos or Christ that's where we get the name Christ and the Old Testament it's the word Messiah we read in Daniel 9:26 and after 62 weeks an anointed one anointed one is that word Messiah Christ is the anointed one just to give you a taste of this Christ is the Messiah Messiah is the Christ depending if you're looking at Old Testament Testaments there's a lot of prophecies about this Messiah let's just look at some of these the first one here that I've got listed I like so there's more than this I'm just giving you a sample set here he is the seed of a woman this goes all the way back to Genesis chapter 3 when Adam and Eve sinned against God God cursed that serpents go to crawl on his belly and eat dust all the days of its life but then you see the prophecy in genesis 3:15 spoken to satan behind that serpent it says I will put enmity between you and the woman between your offspring that is seed and her offspring that is seed he shall bruise your head and you shall bruise his heel essentially Christ is going to crush the head of the serpent that's exactly what he did on the cross you see this goes all the way back to an Adam and Eve sinned against God Jesus one of the Messianic prophecies is that the Messiah will come through Abraham he will come through Isaac he will come through Jacob he will come through Judah so we follow this particular thread this particular line through the Old Testament he's going to be the heir of David you see David's throne was a significant throne in Christ is the heir of David and his lineage actually takes him right through David you know we had an image of David here at the Creation Museum having sitting here playing a little mini harp sitting on a little miniature throne of sorts just to give you a taste of that David was ruddy kind of reddish whether it was hair complexion that's a good question but he has an everlasting throne and an everlasting Kingdom Christ sits on that everlasting throne he sits on the throne of David forever you can see you should have known that Messiah is someone unique he's not just someone's gonna step in the history for a short time and just be gone no no no the Messiah's gonna step into history sit on the throne of David forever whoo that's a powerful powerful look at that he's the savior of both Israel and the Gentiles sometimes people thought well they're looking for a savior to come save Israel no he's gonna be he's gonna be the savior of everyone isaiah 49:6 look at this down here toward the end I will make you as a light for the nations that my salvation may reach the ends the end of the earth it's gonna go all over we see in Romans chapter 4 for the promise now this is talking to Abraham here for the promise that he would be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or his seed through the law but through the righteousness of faith you see this promise is for the whole world if you look further Jesus the Messiah here is going to be called the son of God now the son of God is a title this is a fascinating title actually it means it comes with the same authority as the father in the same way that the Word of God here comes with the authority of God the Son of God comes with the authority of God because He is God and the word is called guidance it's fascinating when you look at this - he is called the son of God you know what's powerful about the son of God the Son of God has power over life and death Jesus had the power to lay down his life and take it up again and we saw that with the resurrection the Messiah brings a new covenant and you know what that's exactly what he did the new covenant in the blood of Jesus Christ he'll be called out of Egypt you know they're kind of a reflection of what happened with Israel they ended up down in Egypt the Lord brought them out with Moses you might think of the ten plagues and and the giving of the law and so forth and Jesus the same sort of thing when Herod came in to kill the baby boys they had to flee to Egypt when Herod died he was called out of Egypt which fulfills that prophecy he's gonna be betrayed for 30 pieces of silver that's an Old Testament prophecy well before it actually occurred when Judas betrayed him for thirty pieces of silver the Messiah would be pierced according to the Old Testament and he was he was pierced through his hands and his feet not one of his bones would be broken that's actually incredible when you step back and think about it not one of his bones would be broken and that was fulfilled in John 1936 he'd be buried in a rich man's tomb she was Jeremiah 31:31 says behold the days are coming declares Lord when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah there would be a new covenant wanted to come back to that because that's really important because we Christ was pierced when he took our transgressions right there on the cross there was a new covenant made with the blood of Jesus Christ in the Old Testament here they were looking forward to this new covenant and it breaks my heart that so many Jews out there do not receive the new covenant of Jesus Christ instead they follow after Judaism instead of receiving salvation from the ultimate and final Passover lamb he'd be called out of Egypt you see this here Hosea 11:1 when Israel was a child I loved him and out of Egypt I called my son you see Jesus was called out of all that just incredible when you step back and think about some of this I'll tell you when you look at some of the Messianic prophecies I just gave you a taste eighteen of them or so here Jesus fulfilled so many of these not just direct prophecies but there were also implications of those particular prophecies and you know there's about 60 major prophecies and the odds of just one person fulfilling those is astronomical so to see this is absolutely incredible to see with Jesus Christ another thing you want to look at throughout the Old Testament here are the theophanies that is a christophany x' more properly now that's a big word some of you guys what's a theophany a theophany is an appearance of God in the Old Testament we kind of hinted at some of this already you know when the Lord shut the door of the Ark for example that's actually considered a theophany that is an appearance of Christ in the Old Testament doing something okay so let's think about this because god is spirit but that's not a problem for God to manifest in Thea Norfolk form that's not a problem we call these christophany this is appearances of Christ new Old Testament prior to the incarnation of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ let's look at some of these obviously he was there at the creation of mankind so we saw that you know he created Adam from the dust he created Eve from from Adam side you might think of the fall of man he was right there he was the one that did the sacrifices we already kind of hinted at some of that he was the one that marked Cain he shut the door of the Ark for example and you know what he did it just right he nailed it if you ever get a chance to go to the Ark Encounter the the door to the Ark when you're looking at it from the inside it's one of the one of the great places people love to go if you look carefully at it you can kind of see a cross shape in the in the door of the Ark but when you take a picture it really shows up there it really is fascinating the way that was done but that's just a reflection because you know you had to go through the door of the Ark to be saved in the same way Jesus describes himself as a door you must enter through Jesus Christ the door to be saved for all eternity you might think of the promise to Abraham the Lord I Abraham actually sacrificed an animal killed the fatted calf essentially to feed the Lord before he went to Sodom and Gomorrah and sent the Angels ahead you might think of Jacob wrestling with the Lord you might think of him appearing to Moses and later he appeared to both Moses and Joshua just just imagine some of that it's incredible the Lord has been intimately involved the whole time Christ has been intimately involved all throughout the Old Testament if you look at some of the others yes he appeared to Joshua yes he appeared to Jobe he also appeared to Solomon that was the last time we see an appearance of God in the Old Testament was particularly with Solomon now let's look at the Encarnacion when Christ actually steps into history to become a man to become flesh to become our relative flip Ian's 2:8 says and being found in appearance as a man he humbled himself and became obedient to death even death on a cross when we see cry stepping into history you know this is this is a lot of times what we think of when we think of the babe in the manger we think of Christmas a huge celebration where people are celebrating the birth of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ if you go back and look at that first Advent we sometimes call that the Advent season of course there'll be a second Advent when Christ returns again but Christ steps into history miraculous a conception by the power of the Holy Spirit you know on that that night of his birth we have the Angels announcing it we see shepherds come in worship you know sometimes people get confused all the stuff that happens because you know in our in our modern day celebrations of this sometimes we throw the wise men in there and our nativity scenes we just put it all together and want to celebrate it but you know if you actually look closely we have Jesus's conception nine months before his birth obviously and let's let's just zoom into some of this a little bit because Gabriel announces to Mary the Virgin that she's going to be conceived by the Holy Spirit she gives birth about nine months later shepherds visit Christ was circumcised on the eighth day after the fortieth day that's when Mary's purification and Jesus being presented to the temple that's when Anna and Simeon had a chance to actually see the Messiah here then he had the Wiseman visit after that that could have been anywhere upwards to two years because Herod killed all the little boys to two years and younger might have been just a year you might I just wanted to double it just to make sure he had him but to the wise men visit Herod realized he's been tricked so they had to flee to Egypt because they're warned in a dream Herod comes in and kills all the baby boys Herod dies about three BC and when he dies then the Lord called the Lord and Mary and Joseph out of Egypt they come back they actually end up taking a detour they end up going to Nazareth and that's where Jesus was raised in his boyhood home a little bit about Christ's life and resurrection the word became flesh remember the word was god but the word became flesh in John 1:14 and dwelt among us and we've seen his glory glory as of the only son from the father full of grace and truth a little bit about Jesus's life we give it yeah we're a taste of his early childhood you know his father was a carpenter he probably learned carpentry as well you might think of him being at the temple his parents couldn't find him he's 12 years old where'd he go didn't you know I'd be in my father's house and there he was chatting with people learning the scriptures and displaying a brilliance to the Word of God he was growing in wisdom and stature as any human would have to do even though he was fully God he was also fully man and had to grow in those human states did power over statements look a little bit more his childhood in a carpentry think about this for a moment his father was a carpenter he probably learned this this is what most people did they did what their fathers did there were of course exceptions but he probably learned carpentry I've always wondered you know what kind of things did he make well was he one of these people who who made things that ended up being replaced in a temple did he make people's homes did he make other people's manger I don't know you know for their animals did he ever make a cross makes you wonder he had power over Satan and demons think of the temptation now this is an external temptation you know God cannot be tempted internally to sin because God cannot sin but Satan tried to tempt Jesus 40 days and nights he fasted I mean Jesus fully God and yet fully human Satan comes to tempt him in his human state he's tempting him externally each time Jesus says it is written compare this to world religious leaders just just think about this for a moment Joseph Smith claims he was visited by the angel Moroni if he believed it followed it Muhammad was out of the cave thought he was visited by an evil spirit later his wife convinced him that it was actually an angel he believed it followed it Buddha sat under a Bodhi tree I was like that Bodhi tree that's what they call it came to enlightenment he believed it Jesus was tempted by Satan three times after fasting 40 days and nights and Jesus said it is written he appealed to the Word of God and its authority over Satan Jesus begins his ministry calls the disciples there's so much here in fact I wrote a whole book on the fall of Satan by the way if you want to learn a little bit more about that fall Satan the fall of mankind in Genesis chapter 3 but Jesus begins his ministry he had to deal with Satan then he calls his first disciples you might think who did he call a cold fisherman he's walking along hey I'll make you fishers of men these guys had an idea of who Jesus was Jesus had already had a reputation by that point and they immediately followed him you might think of the Sermon on the Mount brilliant sermon guys if you ever if you never have a pastor to fill your your pastor and you're like oh no we need somebody to fill it go in there and read the Sermon on the Mount is an incredible sermon for your congregation by the way turn water into wine and this wasn't just a little bit I mean consider these huge vats they had them filled full of water water into wine just like that not a problem for an all-powerful God he had power over nature he calms the storm he walks on water imagine that mark for 39 and he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to sea peace be still and the wind ceased and there was a great calm he had power over nature it's not a problem for an all-powerful God people should have known this Messiah this Christ was special he fed the 5000 and the 4000 this just counts the minute isn't count the women and children you might think of the Transfiguration he me he healed many and cast out demons this isn't a problem for an all-powerful God we just consider this and people who are blind from birth he he healed them he cast out demons think of Legion he cast a whole Legion of demons out they went into the pigs they didn't want to go into the best so he sent him into the pigs who then run over the cliff essentially into the abyss might think of the many parables that he gave or even dealing with Jewish leaders people would just stand in awe and listen spoke many of these to the disciples as well might think of Jesus praying and he taught people how to pray you might think of him having power over life and death might think of the widow's son or Jerry says daughter or even Lazarus Lazarus was dead for four days Jesus wept over it it should show you how serious death really is Lazarus his body was stinking after four days Lazarus come forth people should have known he had the keys to life and death right there in his hands I think of a Judas proposition you guys might think well what's a Judas proposition let me explain it for a moment there was a point where Mary actually brought an expensive ointment a perfume and anointed Jesus's feet with it I don't know if you can see my feet the way we got this set up she anointed his feet and what did you do de sittin like that here well let me let me read the passage it says in John 12 verses 3 & 4 and then I'm gonna continue with 5 and 6 Mary therefore took a pound of expensive ointment made from pure nard and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume but Judas Iscariot one of the disciples he was about to betray him said why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor he said this not because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief and having charge of the money bag he used to help himself to what was put in it you know we see this reflection of the Judas proposition over and over again when we were building the Creation Museum for example I don't know how many people contacted us oh why don't you use that money and feed the poor it wasn't that these people cared about the poor they just didn't want to see this go to a good godly reason and you know as a result of the Creation Museum and seeing people come to know the Lord as they come through the Creation Museum there have been more and more people that have been able to give to the poor actually we saw the same thing with the Ark Encounter people over and over again why build an ark is hey why want to just give the money to the poor this is the Judas proposition be very careful of this when you do stuff for a godly reason that's a good thing let's not forget that all the money in the world is ultimately gods anyway consider Palm Sunday the Sunday before Easter palm branches represent something it actually represents a conquering key a lot of times when when a king returned from battle or when they were presented to a city they came in they would lay palm branches a sign of authority they recognized how powerful they were it's hard to believe that a week later Christ would have to emerge from a grave power over the future we saw Jesus making multitudes of prophecies one of them was that he would lay down his life and on the third day he would be raised again the Last Supper the Passover goes back to an Old Testament event many of you may be familiar with this the Passover this was when the Israelites were down in Egypt the tenth and final plague it's gonna take the firstborn unless you've sacrificed your lamb and you've done it properly and you take the blood and you put it on your doorposts the angel passed over those houses Jesus is our Passover lamb 1st Corinthians 5:7 cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump for you really are 11 for Christ our Passover lamb has been sacrificed he is the ultimate and final sacrifice we no longer have to sacrifice animals at a temple we no longer have to do that because the ultimate sacrifice has been paid for right there on the cross why is it that Jesus's sacrifice was good enough did you ever stop to think about this I mean from Genesis chapter 3 verse 21 we see the the very first sacrifice we see Abel do it Noah do it we see Abraham do it the Israelites did it they were all doing these sacrifices why were those animal sacrifices not good enough here's why the punishment from an infinite God is an infinite punishment our animals infinite not at all what we needed was a perfect infinite sacrifice they could take the infinite punishment from the infinite father Jesus Christ the Son of God who is the creator himself stepped into history to become a man the second person of the trying of God God the Father took out that punishment on Christ and that was enough to satisfy God's wrath upon sin only Jesus was in a position to be able to do that here's the power in us Luke 9:22 saying that the Son of man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and scribes and be killed and on the third day be raised there's the power right there Jesus had the power to lay down his life and take it up again and that brings us to the Passion of the Christ the passion is that those last few hours that that last timeframe there from the moment of the Passover they had the Passover meal they ate it at sunset they're supposed to eat it right after sunset they're supposed to do it quickly that's when they did it then they were kind afterwards they go out to the garden and guess how many Jesus is praying he's praying in anguish it's fascinating behind all that some of the disciples kept falling asleep what are you doing wake up be Brian he was betrayed and arrested you might think of the trials of Jesus because between the Jews and the Romans he'd go back and forth between them finally Jesus was mocked scourge dand crucified he was turned over to the Romans when he was given the lashes it was not 39 it wasn't the 40 minus one the way the Jews would do it no no this is the Romans the Romans didn't have a limit we don't know how many times Jesus incurred the thrashes by the Romans he'd been up all night sweating blood he was in anguish over two correct decisions he was about to punish got to think of this Jesus is God he is about to punish someone who did not sin the punishment for sin is death Christ never sinned and yet he's about to be punished for someone else's scent otherwise they can't be saved imagine the anguish Jesus was crucified Judas hanged himself later his body was split open by rocks probably fell from the very spot he was hanging might think of the darkness that came about when Jesus was on the cross Jesus gave up his final breath it is finished his body had been pierced but that veil of the temple was torn from top to bottom and the blood of Jesus Christ was taken and presented in the Holy of Holies the final sacrifice the blood of Jesus Christ has power Jesus was buried the tomb was sealed and guarded I just think back some of the things that occurred during this time John 19 15 but they cried out away with him away with him crucify him Pilate said to them shall I crucify your king the chief priest answered we have no king but Caesar no king but Caesar they just rejected the king of kings who had come to them they no king but Caesar they appealed to a human Authority a human king and they pierced him and put him on the cross they cast lots for his clothing but remember this sacrifice goes all the way back to the very first sacrifice in the Garden of Eden because Adam and Eve sinned against God the very first sin Christ went to the cross for us because a man sinned death and suffering came to the world it's because of man's sin that Christ died on the tree I always wondered when it came to that that the tree of the knowledge of good and evil when Adam and Eve ate from that tree makes you wonder did it cast a shadow of a cross you know here at the Creation Museum a lot of people have probably walked through here tomb never even noticed but when you get down to the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you see Adam and Eve in a pool you see see a serpent the tree actually if you kind of move over to the left side and look through the waterfall and you look at the base of tree you'll see the tree it kind of goes up and it bends and if you look at it really carefully two of the branches of the trees and you'll see Christ on a cross most people have never seen it I want to encourage you to come back to the Creation Museum just to see that it is absolutely fascinating but God showed his love for us and that while we were still sinners Christ died for us you see Christ died according to the scriptures matthew 27:54 when the Centurion and those who are with him keeping watch over Jesus saw the earthquake and what took place they were filled with awe and said truly this was the son of God but here's the power in it the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ this is what we celebrate on Easter Resurrection Sunday this is what we celebrate Christ coming out of the grave John 10:17 for this reason the Father loves me because I lay down my life that I may take it up again acts 10 verse 40 him God raised up on the third day and showed him openly first Corinthians 15 4 and that he was buried and that he was raised on the third day according to the scriptures Christ has power over life and death he was showed openly five hundred and one time saw the disciples many times all authority on heaven and earth has been given to Christ and he ascended into heaven ruling at the right hand of God sitting on the throne of God Luke 24:51 while he blessed them he parted from them and was carried up into heaven Luke 24 52 and they worshiped him and they returned to Jerusalem with great joy so who wasn't as Jesus when you step back and look at it he is the creator god he is the god of the Old Testament he's the god of the Old Testament and the New Testament he's the God of the whole Bible he is the suffering savor sinless fully man and yet fully God he became a man he became our relative he's the resurrected victor over death he's the coming king and judge of all john 14:3 and if i go and prepare place for you I will come again and I will take you to myself that where I am you may be also how comforting is that Romans 10:13 for there is no distinction between the Jew and the Greek for the same lord over all is rich to all who call upon his name for whoever calls on the name of the Lord should be saved John 3:18 whoever believes in Him this is Jesus is not condemned but whoever does not believe is condemned already because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God the only begotten Son here acts 4:12 and there is salvation in no one else for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved John 1:12 but to all who did receive him who believed in his name he gave the right to become children of God john 12:48 he who rejects me does not receive my words you see notice this this is stated in a negative sense he who rejects me and does not receive my words has that which judges him the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day the Word of God is the judge this is the standard right here not this plus something else not this minus something else this the Old and New Testament you see when you look at the Bible there is a history and the cross is founded in that history and we have something to look forward to we have the hope but you know what when you reject God in this world which a lot of people in our culture do sadly we see a lot of people say well we're going to deny the Bible were going to deny what we see in Genesis they're going to deny the future as well but what is what hope is there and say a secular worldview Big Bang everything came from nothing you have millions and billions of years all of a sudden chemicals give give life or give rise to life through random processes it evolves further and further finally one day there'll be a heat death in the universe and they'll be nothingness wow there's the hope now god disagrees with that view and see Christ is preeminent in all things all authority in heaven and earth has been given to him he is the Creator God preeminence of Jesus who is Jesus let's look at this see this is where the rubber hits the road who is Jesus do you rise there's a lot of people have a false understanding of Jesus let me tell you something I'm gonna be flat out right up front with you a false Jesus cannot save you cannot save you if somebody says yeah I believe in Jesus yeah lives down the road dejesus over here nope sorry he can't save you it's false Jesus cannot place your faith in and dejesus down the road and live for eternity with God there's a lot of people that say I believe in Jesus though and they have a false view a false understanding of Jesus or who saves you I've had people say I is one of many gods we see this with the Latter day Saints that is the Mormons he's one of many gods sometimes I people say yeah we believe Jesus Abaddon's mother Mary that saves me no no that's a full Savior I think people say oh he's the created Archangel Michael we see that from Jove his witnesses we have some people say yeah Jesus existed but he's not the Messiah he got a false into you remember John 1 1 through 3 in the beginning was the word and the Word was with God and the Word was God he was with God in the beginning all things were made through him and without him not anything made and was not that's not my words here all things were made through him and without him was not anything made that was made all things that were created were created by Christ he is not a created being in the beginning God created the heavens in the earth let's look closer at that word God now where God is eloheem that's actually the plural name for God throughout the Old Testament whenever it's talking about some of the pagan gods that's also the word eloheem it's plural but what's what's absolutely incredible about using eloheem is eloheem uses a singular verb form it is treated as a singular now let me explain something for a moment if God was what we call an absolute unity I know this is kind of semi tagged don't let it to scare you if God is an absolute unity not multiple persons three persons one God if it's one person one God that's what an absolute unity is this would be a very awkward way of ever saying you see what it is you use the plural with the singular is treated as a singular that's called a composite unity or a majestic plural it gives us just a hint or a taste of the nature of God do you realize Genesis 1:1 actually refutes most religions right there if you can believe Genesis 1:1 virtually every other religion is a false religion any religion that says there's no God is refuted by Genesis 1:1 any religion that says spirit only system think of those Eastern mystical religions they're wrong because God did create the earth in the beginning God created heavens the earth that's not a problem for an all-powerful God any religion that says material only they're also wrong because the heavens were also created you have a spiritual aspect of these heavens and God Himself is spirit of course when he became a man he took on a body in the person of Jesus Christ any polytheistic religion religions to say you have a multitude of gods or that the universe is God that is a false religion Genesis 1:1 refutes it and even if you have an absolute unity God looking carefully at eloheem with a singular verb it refutes that too you see Jesus Christ is right there intimately involved from Genesis chapter 1 Colossians 1:15 through 17 Jesus here he is the image of the invisible God the firstborn of all creation for by him all things were created in heaven and on earth visible and invisible whether Thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities all things were created through him and for him he is before all things and in him all things hold together he is the image of the invisible God he created all things I've had some people say well it says here first born of creation see that means he's created first more now I actually first Born's a title it's the one who inherits or takes authority over we see this of David David was actually born laughed in his family and yet what do we read here this atonium of David I found my servant David with my I have found my servant David with my holy oil I have anointed him and if you keep reading through the context it says also I will make him my firstborn the highest of the kings of the earth you see that's why David stone is the highest throne and Christ sits on that throne for eternity sits on the throne of God as well pretty powerful when you think about that does he firstborn here is a title it doesn't mean he was created Hebrews 1 1 through 3 God spoke to our fathers by the prophets but in these last days he has spoken to his my son whom he has appointed the heir of all things through whom also he created the world he is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature and he upholds the universe by the word of his power after making purification for sin he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high he's sitting at the right hand on the throne of God Hebrews 1:8 look at this this is God speaking but of the Sun he says God says your throne O God is forever and ever the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom God the Father calls God the Sun God incredible isn't it see this brings us to a unique aspect that we learn from the Bible when you start with Scripture and you let the Bible be the authority and you learn from that you're gonna find out there's one God and you're gonna see three persons of that one true God not three different gods not one person one God three persons one God the Father Son and the Holy Spirit Deuteronomy 6:4 Christians absolutely affirm this here o Israel the Lord our God is one there is only one one Lord one Lord Genesis 1:1 that word for God here eloheem you see a hint of this one God is treated as singular Genesis 1:26 and 27 though gives a little bit more hint to this because you also see a plurality among this so yes it's one God and yet you see the multiple persons involved here then God's it's a singular God said let us make man in our image after our likeness and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth so God created man in his own image you see the plurality and the singularity all right here let us make man in our own image after our likeness Genesis 3:22 we see reflection of that same language then the Lord God said Behold the man has become like one of us and knowing good and evil you see a reflection of that triune nature of God Genesis 11 7 come let us go down and there confuse their language so they may not understand one another speech we see it in Isaiah as well 6 8 and I heard the voice of the Lord saying whom shall I send and who will go for us you see the reflection of the triune nature of God three persons one God if you read the scriptures God the Father God the Son and God the Holy Spirit they're all called God in several places throughout scripture God the Father God the Son God the Holy Spirit is called the creator or is the creator we read this all throughout the scriptures old a New Testament God the Father God the Son God the Holy Spirit is omnipresent that is everywhere they're not limited in that respect Father Son and Holy Spirit is omnipotent they have all power God can do all his holy will now I want to comment on this for just a moment because God can't do all his holy will I've had people say it's got powerful enough to sin is he powerful enough to go against his will oh well that becomes a problem that's not an all-powerful God all of a sudden a more powerful God is a God who can state his will and have a will and keep it someone who breaks their own will breaks their word all the time they're less powerful that's not an all-powerful God that answers questions like can God create a rock so big that he can't lift it it's illogical actually you see God is a logical god and he follows after his own will and he's powerful enough to keep it that is the most powerful God that is all-powerful the Father Son and Holy Spirit here is on mission they are all knowing we see this of all three persons of the one triune God God the Father God the Son and God the Holy Spirit is unchanging and eternal in their nature this is their godly nature of course I've had people say well I don't quite understand how can you have three persons and one god it's actually not a problem I know it is difficult for us to grasp we may not fully grasp it this side of heaven but think of the Father Son and the Holy Spirit think that this is what a lot of church fathers would do they would actually set up like an equilateral triangle here you have three different points but you have one triangle now each of these points actually have the lines that come out to become the lines for the other to say a Father Son and Holy Spirit one God three persons three points but those points make up the other points you know we see this with the ancients they would do this this is a good analogy no analogy of course is perfect but it gives you an idea but see we're in a culture where there are people who deny what the Scriptures plainly teach they want to change it they don't want three persons in one God instead you might see something like this you see this from the Latter day Saints the Mormons we declare it is self-evident from the scriptures that the Father the Son and the Holy Ghost are separate persons three divine beings so they have three persons but they have three different gods out of it this is called polytheism a multitude of gods in fact in Mormonism you too can become a god this is a false understanding but where do they get this they don't get it from the scripture they get it from other things Book of Mormon Perley great price doctrines and covenants you see they tried to add stuff to the Bible and then go in and change the Bible Java's witnesses similarly the Bible teaches that Jesus was created by God nope Jesus created all things that were created see it's actually going against scriptures where do they get this idea they have a theology and then they want to change what the Bible teaches how much you understand when you start with the god of scripture Christ is above all he is not a created being I want you to consider something for a moment say it would Jehovah's Witness theology a lot of them they would agree Jesus is Savior but they have a created Jesus now there's a huge problem with that because the punishment from an infinite God is an infinite punishment if Jesus Christ is a created being how is it that he has power equal to God to be able to take that infinite punishment from the infinite God a creative being is not equal to God to be able to take that punishment so a created being is no different from saying animal sacrifice it's not a sufficient sacrifice to take the infinite punishment from an infinite God so it's not a sufficient sacrifice ultimately you're still dead in your sins see how that falls short see Christ is above all false gods he's above all false religions Christ's word here it is above all the other stuff people try to add to it or the way people try to take away from it remember I said there's two religions in the world gods and man's that's the battle in today's culture it's a battle of authority God's Word vs. man's word we see all forms of humanism because man's ideas have been used to take people away from God's Word and Hinduism yet they use the ancient sage sages to say that that's what you trust instead of God in his word Buddhism Buddha becomes the person that people appeal to in Islam it's Muhammed the list goes on they're appealing to someone to take people away from God in his word it's friends it's time to get back to God in this word in our culture of the secular forms of humanism are dominating they're in our school systems this religion is there when they kick religion out of the classroom they didn't kick it out they kick Christianity out and the religious view of humanism dominates in our culture within the school system I want you to understand that religion is still there but we not only see it in our school systems we see it in the secular media we see in the secular museums we see it in secular textbooks and we wonder why kids are following after the religion of secular humanism there's various forms of it here atheism agnosticism naturalism even when people say they're not religious that's fancy way of saying you're a humanist because you've already rejected God's Word in light of your own views it's a secular humanistic viewpoint and what happens when many Christians whistles apart - breaks my heart many Christians say oh but we can take some of this stuff the humanists that the atheist the naturalism materialists are are believing and we can just bring it over here mix it with our Christianity and then will it take to save them the Big Bang or millions of years or evolution which is subsets to the religion of humanism they want to take some of that they want to add it to the Bible no no if you start with the Bible of creation to fall in the flood these are two entirely different religions I've had people say but Bodi Big Bang millions of years and evolution that's science no it's not science is observable and repeatable has anyone ever observed repeated the Big Bang no does anyone ever observed a repeated millions of years no has anyone ever observed a repeated the changing of a single celled organism like an amoeba into a cow never seen it it's just not there that's not observable repeatable science that belongs in the realm of history or historical science but see when people try to mix those two and a lot of Christians try to do that something has to give and usually what happens Christians start giving up the pages of Genesis ah maybe a day doesn't mean a day maybe the evenings and mornings aren't evenings and mornings maybe the Sun was made on day one not day four maybe Adam and Eve didn't exist you see what's happening people are starting to modify God in His Word in Genesis as a result of adding humanistic elements to this it's the same sort of thing when it comes to things like Jehovah's Witnesses Mormons and Muslims some of their teaching they would agree that the Bible's true but then they want to go in and change it it doesn't mean what it says they say you got to reinterpret it change it if you have to and we see the book of John now become attacked but really what the Christ were really up against what is it what really challenged has gotten his word the absolute authority of a personal God his revelation to mankind what's the Bible really up against for that on my present omniscient all-powerful god all-knowing god what's it really up against let's take a look like I said all other religions one way or another have man's word humanistic elements to it that religion they can break into four parts Eastern mysticism spirit only moralistic mythical that is pagan religions and Buddhism things like that that's some sort of a moral code just an arbitrary religion because people say so then you have secular atheistic naturalistic materialistic type religions that say material only then you have counterfeits of Christianity let's look at these real quick because as we look at these you'd be surprised how easy it is to show that these guys are not even competition with godness word let's just look for example at the Hindu the Hindu is probably the king of the spirit religions they're Eastern mystical religions the pagan is probably one of the kings of the moralistic religion the atheist is the king of the materialistic religions and so forth so Eastern mysticism like Hinduism do you realise religions like this they don't have a God that reveals the truth the supreme god in in Eastern mysticism particularly Hinduism from on it is an impersonal God so there is no personal revelation from this God yeah there's a whole bunch of so-called scriptures for Hinduism you have the Vedas Upanishads bhagavad-gita but these are just suggestions from people in ancient sages and what they think nothing that could even be remotely equated with God in his word it's so forth with Taoism or Sikhism or Jainism whatever it that might be these are just people's suggestions about what they think about some sort of ultimate reality or Brahman or some sort of absolute spiritual system but you know what if it just comes from people it's arbitrary there is nothing really behind nothing there they could really compete with godness word what about the moralistic and mythical religions let's just look at some of these for a moment mythical religious might think in Greek mythology or Roman anthology Egyptian or Norse mythology even bail worship Druidism you might think of the Germanic mythology even Shinto which is an ancestor worship of Japan Wicca witchcraft but even other moral code systems like Confucianism Buddhism animism spiritism and so forth they have some sort of moral code that that somebody kind of came up with you just try to that code and minoo it's all arbitrary that's what it is it's not the word of some supreme ultimate god giving the truth arbitrariness by the way is bad what about the secular and a theistic religions well they don't even have a god they could even be remotely something that could be construed as the writing room that could compete with God in its word they have no revelations whatsoever it's just people's opinions and ideas and whims they may post them in journals or text books here on a website or on blogs but it's just people's opinions it's just arbitrary now notice for a second here we just refuted three-quarters of the world's religions that fast it was really that quick but that's not the ones that people normally bring up well they might attack God in His Word what they usually go for are the counterfeits of Christianity that's what they want to go for they want to look at things like Islam or more in men is amor jehovah's witnesses well let's see they've got a revelation to from their God so it's like a it's like a standoff here you got one versus the other right nope do you realize that these religions generally agreed the Bible's true yeah they want to make some changes ever say well you know for example Mormons went in and changed about 4,000 verses in the Bible Jove as witnesses go in and try to make some changes and then you want to add something to it in the case of Islam they want to add the Koran they want to add the hadith for example which Hovis witnesses they want to add studies in the scripture or the awake magazine of the old Watchtower magazines well let's just look at some of this Mohammed agreed that the Bible is true you see the Bible is broken into several different parts you got the taurah or the law the the books of moses then you also have the prophets and you have the psalms those are the three basic divisions in the in the old testament throughout the quran and and the hadith Muhammad readily affirmed the Torah the gospel and that's so forth to be the scripture see the New Testament as the gospel is broken into two parts you have the historical accounts Matthew Mark Luke John in the book of Acts and then you have the epistles or the explanation of the gospel after that so they affirmed that the tour in the gospel and and the prophets and so forth are true you see this all throughout in here Mohammed was actually holding a Bible in his hands he said this is true he agrees it is sir I have for 136 even the books who were sit down at for time you're supposed to follow those and believe those the Koran repeatedly affirms that the Bible is true but then they want to deviate they want to add something to it and take you away from its teachings that's when it becomes a problem see when the Bible was completed the faith was once for all delivered to the Saints there's no need for any new scripture and yet people want to appeal to new scriptures same sort of thing with some of these others Book of Mormon wake or watchtower studies in the scripture here's the thing though they all want to say yeah the Bible is true but then they want to deviate from it but here's the problem these guys are in contradiction with what the Bible says you use previous revelation to judge the later revelation that's the problem with a lot of these guys they would say no no no you used the lighter to judge the previous no you got it backwards see when it came to the new testament you had to use the Old Testament to prove the New Testament you use previous revelation to judge your alleged right later revelation these guys are not doing it they have it back to front they want to take their new thing how convenient and judge the old know they have it backwards you have it wrong you see all these other scriptures all these other so-called holy books that try to challenge God in His Word what they're doing is they're elevating man's ideas to supersede God in his word it's humanism in its broadest sense to take people away from God in his word and Judaism they actually want to subtract the New Testament and they want to add the Talmud you see we see this over and over again so many different groups I'm just giving you a sample set here but they do the same sort of thing what we need to do is get back to the Bible all other worldviews are a subjective standard a human standard an arbitrary a false standard they all must borrow from God in his word to actually make sense of things whether they realize it or not I see people all over the world wearing their clothes that's very very Christian of them that goes all the way back to a Christian doctrine in Genesis chapter 3 when the Lord Jesus gave us clothes to wear and yet people all over the world borrow doctrine people all over the world have a seven-day week why because God created in six days and rested on seven comes from the Bible I see people all over the world I see pagans get married I see atheists get married marriage is a Christian doctrine came from from Genesis chapter one where God created a man in a woman Jesus defended this in Matthew 19 in mark chapter six and yet people all over the world they're borrowing from scripture and sometimes they don't realize it you see a lot of these guys just don't know what the Bible says I want to encourage people to get back to the Bible go back and read it a lot of people make false claims about it go back and read it acts 17:30 and 31 I will leave you with this the times of ignorance God overlooked but now he commands all people everywhere to repent because he has fixed a day in which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he is appointed and of this is given assurance to all by raising him from the dead notice this he wants all people everywhere to repent it doesn't matter if you're a Hindu doesn't matter if you're a Muslim doesn't matter who the ultimate sacrifices come you can now have peace with God all the sin that you committed can be nailed to the cross right there I want to encourage you to repent and receive the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ believe in his death burial and resurrection that Jesus Christ of Scripture the second person of the triune God I want to encourage you to follow him on this Easter we remember Jesus raising from the dead but let's remember the foundation for why he had to be raised from the dead you see Jesus Christ is the God of the Bible he is the god of the New Testament he is the God of the Old Testament he is the God that sits on the right hand of the Father on the throne of God as we speak all authority on heaven and earth has been given to him and he said go make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit friends I want to encourage you to visit us on our website Answers in Genesis org we have whole sections on Jesus and God and the Holy Spirit the authority of Scripture there's whole sections on creation the fall the flood the tower Babel one race for example we have so many things factors you might as well bookmark our web site because you can spend millions of years on there just looking through things but we even have a kids web site Answers in Genesis org slash kids not my kids absolutely love getting on there we also have a special for you here now this one sometimes you may watch a lecture and say wow that was really good but then you start to forget it after a week you know I do the same thing we're all like that so this is what we want to encourage people to get books DVDs have it for your reference go back you can read it you can have it take notes in it if you need to we also have some classes if you want to learn more about some of this we have creation apologetics classes we have a special for you because these are normally 294 dollar value and we're gonna offer this I I still can't believe we're doing this for only $19 go to answers education com there's six different courses they're self-paced you can do it at your own pace but $19 that's just unheard of but really we want to equip people we want people to have answers if you want specific resources if you struggle with dealing with evolution in our culture how do you deal with you know people saying well there's all these missing links or humans evolve from an ape-like ancestor humans and chimps DNA or 98% similar the book you want to get is a book called glass house I would say the majority of this book is easy to read there are a few chapters that are slimming technical but I don't want them to scare you most people can get through this teenager should have no problem in fact I would say this is vital for teens going through high school or even kids that are in college a powerful book here a flood of evidence well we have 40 chapters in here in honor of the 40 days and nights of initial rainfall we look at the flood we look at Noah's Ark we look at its design how could all the animals fit on there how could they care for these animals did it really take millions of years to form coal and oil and gemstones and so forth it really doesn't we can make those things quickly actually you can make oil from algae in less than 30 minutes for example if you are just going to get one set of something I would suggested me our answers books volumes 1 through 4 what about dinosaurs I did God really create in six days what about racism why is there death and suffering in our culture how does the earth how do we arrive at that how does the world arrive and what about radiometric dating or carbon dating we got host of different chapters in here what about dragons for example climate change distant starlight Big Bang these are the types of questions answered in here we do have answers books for kids there's eight volumes all total incredible sets these are actual questions from actual kids so that's what makes this really really incredible we we have books on creation in the fall flood and dinosaurs space and astronomy Tower of Babel and ice age evolution millions years Satan and angels these are great for devotions with your kids and grandkids by the way good short answers we have answers wicks for teens one and two by the way I was just a lot of teenagers could read the answers books I don't think that's a problem for most of them now sometimes they just want to get good quicker answers these are an ideal set of books for you probably the younger teens I will admit in the in the first volume answers book for teens Volume one the red one it actually has a chapter here on the issue of sexuality now it is a powerful chapter by the way because you know I used to work with the youth and I'd have kids say wow how close to that line can I get before it's a sin I'd say no no how pure can you be until you get married but here's what I found out with you with a lot of these kids particularly teenagers they want to know what the Bible says sometimes they're scared to death to ask the question and you know what as parents youth leaders and grandparents we're sometimes scared that talk to the kids about it so we put together a chapter it's done tastefully so I want to encourage you to use that we've seen whole youth groups use it and it's been powerful if you want to know more about world religions and cults we have a book series here for you simply entitled world religions and cults volumes one two and three we worth what we worked with experts from five different continents to write and record this book series now we hit 60 world religions and cults but we start off with fact there's only two religions in the world we explain that powerful set the why evolution why you should not take evolution of millions of years and mix it with your Christianity you run into theological problems scientific problems how do we know the Bible is true how do you interpret the Bible did this really right Genesis how-do-you-do apologetics how do you defend Scripture that's what this book series is all about there's a chapter in here on miracles one on the resurrection it's an excellent book series I do have a talk on is the Bible true how do we know it's a higher level talk but it points out some of the wrong answers people use and then it hit you with the ultimate answer is powerful the ultimate proof of creation by my friend dr. Jason Lisle he's an astrophysicist but this is an incredible book to really help lay out why creation when you start with God in his word you start by presupposing godness word predicating on on godness word i'll tell you what it all makes sense it is a powerful one of the most powerful of presentations I've seen he's got a book and a DVD on this dr. Greg Monson is one of my heroes of the faith is a book called always read if you want to learn how to do apologetics setting forth God in his word as supreme the lordship of Christ over all matters and then you do apologetics it's an incredible methodology some people say well the Bible's full of contradictions no it's not and I you know I hear it all the time I actually like to study these alleged Bible contradictions and so you know I'll hop in and read them as you know most of time is contextual things things like that we picked some of the top ones and we have two easy to read books in here just refuting these now here's one one of the things we wanted to do with this book series we want to do something unique because we have a multitude of authors on it even though I'm one of the general editors here's what we did we had people who had a PhD people with master's people with the bachelor's degree we even had a kid in grade school respond to these alleged Bible contradictions we did that on purpose we want people to realize when somebody says there's an alleged Bible contradiction look it up read it usually you can solve it real simply just by reading it contextually and so it really is a neat book series dragons dinosaurs in the Bible I've done a lot of study on that the connection between dinosaurs and dragons again I want to remind you of the book the fall of Satan follow mankind what all's going on in Genesis chapter 3 of comparison to the fall and the gospel how could a loving God allow death and suffering confound the critics how to respond to hostile feedback not all the questions in here a hostile but it shows you how to respond how to break down those letters if you see things on Facebook or newspapers and you're like how do you respond to that that's what this book is all about it takes a lot of the stuff and puts it into actual practice god of suffering seven C's of history I go through the whole Bible in one talk I love to study the subject of the tower Bible in people groups where they went to I find a fascination with that if you know a little bit about your ancestry this is the book and DVD you want to get in your hands the last book a book series I want to tell you about some book called already gone ready to return and we have already compromised this is books of statistics of white kids are walking away from their faith and why colleges are starting to walk away from the faith the results in here will change your life when you read these books it'll even change a lot of the ways you'll do some of your sunday school in your marketing at your church finally we do have some live programs every day here at the Creation Museum while we've been on lockdown with the coronavirus 10 12 3 and 7 we do live
