peace be with you we are truly beloved children of god the father and we are truly beloved children of mary our mother the saints say there is no better way or quicker way to holiness to become one with the lord than to go through mary mary opens the gateway to god's heart for us she of all the creatures without stain without sin she magnifies the lord mary receives us and all our intentions and even in the mass we ask her to pray for us poor sinners of god poor sinners of mary that we are so always with great confidence let us entrust ourselves let us entrust this evening let us entrust our families and all our intentions all our worries all our concerns let's give it awe to mary trusting that the one who's full of grace is already assisting us in our time of need as we pray hail mary full of grace the lord is with thee blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb jesus holy mary mother of god pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death amen pray for us o holy mother of god in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit why are you here once again we allow ourselves to be in touch with our intellect our freedom our will where is your heart right now is it heavy is it worried in a moment we're going to be able to lift up our hearts to the lord and if our hearts are heavy how difficult it is to lift our hearts to the lord in joyful praise and sweet song and sweet adoration why are you here you're here because god loves you you're here because you love god you're here because we are in need of god we are here because we want to give glory and praise to god we want to thank him for all the graces and blessings that he has given us throughout salvation history but definitely for the gift of his infinite love and his divine mercy how many times we hear that word in mass mercy we also pray pray for us a holy mother of god that we may be worthy of the promises of christ what are those promises that jesus has made you that he fulfills in this eucharist do you know the graces and the blessings that are bestowed upon us every time we celebrate this sacred liturgy we receive grace in abundance the grace pours out and this is god's gracious gift that he allows us to cooperate with his grace with his spirit to share in the life of god poor creatures that we are then we receive blessings we always need god to bless us we hear happy are they blessed are they who are invited to the lamb to this wedding feast to this banquet blessed are they happy are they we are blessed every time we come and celebrate this eucharist and then healing we ourselves in the eucharist would say lord i am not worthy that you should enter under my roof but only say the word in my soul healing healing is part of the graces and blessings that flow from the eucharist remember jesus says i come to heal the broken heart and our hearts are broken because of sin sin that we have committed and sin that has been committed to us our hearts are grieving and so we need that healing in the mass and then the four remaining gifts are really one because you can't tear them apart you can't have one without the other and that is love and mercy pardon and peace say that with me love and mercy pardon and peace this is the cross this is jesus this is his mission that we all share in this is god's desire for you and for me that we obtain in a particular individual and intimate way his most profound love his deep profound mercy and the pardon and peace that the lamb that was slain has won for us remember we hear by his wounds we have been healed and he has reconciled us to the father and to one another this is the mission of christ this is why we're here we're here poor children of god poor children of mary because we are in need of grace we need god's blessing and our life we need him to heal us but we need that grace of his infinite love and his divine mercy and his pardon and peace now we know why we're here we're in need of those gifts and they are gifts and they overflow in the mass and all we have to do is simply be open like mary and joseph were to be open to the word that has been made flesh the incarnate word to be open to the grace and gift of the holy spirit that transforms bread and wine into the body and blood of christ and we will hear that he does that for us as well the mystical body of christ and what always gets in the way is once again is those minds look at those minds look at those wheels turning and turning and turning i could see some of you i get it's like eat my dust father these wheels are turning and turning and turning well let's take a moment now to acknowledge that we have crossed over again we have come through sacred doors we're on sacred consecrated ground you are holy the holy people of god god's beloved we have come into our father's house prodigal children that we are our father has been waiting to welcome us into his home and since we have repented god wants to celebrate he wants to throw a great feast and a banquet and we have to vest ourselves we have to prepare ourselves we have to dress appropriately for this banquet the wedding feast of the lamb that we're about to celebrate and so when we come through those doors mindful of our thoughts remember we will confess about our thoughts about our words about our actions and inactions so we should already be mindful of those things so that when we do make our general confession we have examined our hearts and our conscience coming in we should already be doing that to ask the holy spirit to bring to light what's heavy on our heart and what has stained our mind so that when we make our general confession once again we can do that because we're going to be begging for mercy several times and we're going to ask god every time that we beg for mercy to scoop more of the heaviness of our heart our hearts that have been hardened our minds that have been racing the bad thoughts that we had the impure thoughts we want to call those to mine to god's attention so that we can receive god's mercy so that we can prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries and i share with you and i'll keep sharing because as saint ignatius says repetition is good one of the tools that helps me so much and that's simply a r r r first of all to acknowledge honestly where are you how do you feel are you angry are you upset are you joyful are you lost are you frustrated are you hurting what is it that you are acknowledging because what happens is we bottle that up and through the mass like poison it flows through our veins and before you know it the relationship that we wanted to enter into that was there for us we end up leaving without participating in the sacred ministry and the sacred and sacred mysteries that was given to us so simply acknowledge let's try that right now you don't have to say it out loud but simply acknowledge where you are what you're feeling right now what's your disposition just acknowledge it and now rather than allowing it to fester inside of us we got to get it out and so the way we do that is we relate it to god or we relate it to mary or related to joseph or related to your patron saint but we have to relate it in a prayer so that it doesn't stay in there festering like poison inside of us so acknowledge your feelings your desires where you are right now and then relate that in a prayer for those who have been consecrated to jesus through mary this is a wonderful thing to do it's what we said we are committed to to give everything to jesus through mary and for those who consecrated themselves to joseph the same thing we committed to give joseph everything well your feelings are everything what you acknowledge is part of that everything and so don't hold on to it we made a promise to give it give it so that this way you're not holding on to it so now we've acknowledged it we related i always relate it to our mother mary and then we beg to receive the grace that we need in order to respond in accordance with god's will and what is god's will god's will in the mass is that we understand when he says this is my beloved son of whom i'm well pleased listen to him that is god's will that we listen again that word means obedient that we are obedient to him and we can manifest that in so many ways in all the ways that jesus taught us have no worry whatsoever he says well when we're obedient we're not worrying about anything he says have faith in god have faith in me okay then i'm being obedient to to the lord when i am faithful and not worrying but trusting when he says love to love god with all your heart mind body soul strength and being well that's listening to him that's obedience so anything that we need to receive in order to live out those things especially in the mass where god is fully present to us well we should ask for that so if you need to ask for strength from mary or joseph then say help me to receive the strength that i need to overcome this if we need healing then ask for it say give me the healing so i can get rid of this illness so i can really pay attention in the mass what do we need in terms of grace sometimes we just need understanding we need wisdom we need forgiveness we need these things to get past another hurt my home that's grace we have to ask for that stuff so again acknowledge it relate it to jesus mary and joseph ask them to give you the grace that you need in order for you to fulfill god's will which is to listen to jesus the father says that and our mother says that as well do whatever he asks you to do he says listen right because he says i am the good shepherd my sheep listen to me they know my voice and they follow me they imitate me they're obedient to me they're just like me and so know that that's okay we come in here sometimes and we might have experienced something terrible at a light in the parking lot on the way here on the cell phone somebody we cross i mean so many opportunities just here on the property well don't hold on to that because we got to make more room because we're going to receive a lot of stuff we're going to receive grace and blessing and healing and love and mercy and pardon and peace and if your heart is full and your hands are full and your thoughts are full well there's no room for anything else is there so during the mass when we're saying mercy on me we're actually asking the lord to make some room so that we have more means to receive all his gracious gifts so i share that with you because it really helps a-r-r-r acknowledge relate receive respond it really works if we begin to use it i use it all day long always acknowledging where i am my disposition a conversation a person always relating that to mary and asking our mother who's full of grace to give me the grace to know god's will and to give me the grace to fulfill it always asking for these things and she does she gives in such abundance and so now we know why we're here we know what we're receiving and we know how to receive it and remember when we come in don't forget don't forget that those waters remind us of the waters of our own baptism that those waters are blessed for us to remind us right again in any way that you can i say for for me i say you know lord wash away my iniquity cleanse me of my sins refresh and renew me in the waters of baptism so i can remember the graces and the blessings that god gave me there in the baptism and what did he give me grace blessing healing love mercy pardon and peace remember the baptism is the gateway to these two tables they're the gateway to all the sacraments and the sacraments are given to us so that we can be holy as god has asked us to be holy as he is holy why so that we can be in his presence holiness is what's required so god has given us the means everything that god is doing is to make us holy or perhaps holier because you're already holy and so once again we will hear this sunday let us take a moment to silence your cell phone and electronics and when you hear that know that father ivan is in the back saying and don't forget to silence your minds silence your cell phone your electronics and then silence the minds i'm telling you if i could find where that switch is i will tell all of you where it is so we can just shut it off right but remember in the waters of baptism we have put on the mind and the heart of jesus so let his heart flow through this mass love him with his heart and contemplate him with his mind and his thoughts and then when we hear to stand and take a moment of silent prayer i know you're going to do that and know there's enough time to do a r r r in that moment of silence you can do it so please stand silence your cell phone and your electronics and now take that quiet moment of prayer to prepare yourself to celebrate these sacred liturgies lord wash away my iniquity cleanse me of my sins refresh me and renew me in the waters of baptism holy god we praise thy name [Music] [Music] in is [Music] have in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit the grace of our lord jesus christ and the love of god and the communion of the holy spirit be with you all brothers and sisters let us acknowledge our sins and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries i confess to almighty god and to you my brothers and sisters that i have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words and what i have done and what i have failed to do through my fall through my fall through my most grievous fall therefore i ask blessed mary ever virgin all the angels and saints and you my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the lord our god may almighty god have mercy on us forgive us our sins and bring us to everlasting life lord have mercy christ have mercy lord have mercy let us pray oh god from whom all good things come grant that we who call on you and our need may it your prompting discern what is right and by your guidance do it through our lord jesus christ your son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the holy spirit god forever and ever once again we just went through the introductory right again this is an opportunity for us to draw once again in the fact that we entered into a relationship with god from the moment we were baptized we became part of god's family and so prayer is so much more than a conversation it's a relationship it's a mutual relationship where we are each sharing in the relationship and the introductory writes we are sharing and god is receiving and so let us acknowledge again what it is that we're sharing the fact that we begin in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit reminds us when jesus was with his disciples before he ascended we hear he blessed them and before he was taken up into heaven he said go and baptize in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit teaching all nations to observe right my commands and he says no i am with you always to the end of the age jesus is fulfilling all of this in the mass we are reminded in our baptism that we become part of this relationship and we hear that jesus in the mass himself is instructing us and teaching us and in the eucharist he fulfills his promise to remain with us forever and so we know that through our baptism that has opened up the gates to the father's heart the floodgates that in the mass we are constantly constantly referring reflecting and touching on our baptism remember we are the baptized priesthood of jesus christ and we celebrate that priesthood here in the mass and so just be attentive so how many times we're going back and we're touching on our baptism once again and we're bringing that present in the mass it's celebrating that once again here in the mass and so we know we begin with that beautiful sign of the cross that has won the victory for us that has won the right for us to once again be called beloved children of god and so then we hear the grace of our lord jesus christ the love of god and the communion of the holy spirit be with you always remember the seven gifts of the eucharist already we have three grace love and the communion is that actually departed in peace already so what we're saying is the grace of our lord jesus christ the grace is to share in his death and resurrection that we are obtaining all the benefits from his life death and resurrection so that grace the grace of our lord jesus christ and the love of god who loved us so much he sent his only son into the world not to condemn us but to save us that love that love that gave his only begotten son for us right so the grace of our lord jesus christ the love of god and the communion of the holy spirit is the communion is the eucharist it's the what binds us what unites us is the grace to share in the love of god the life of god it's all together throughout the mass this relationship between the father son and holy spirit is being manifested and being celebrated from the very beginning of mass you can already see what we're asking for and then we know we enter into that general confession brothers and sisters acknowledge remember we we talk about a.r.r right our acknowledge here's another opportunity brothers and sisters let us acknowledge our sins this is the sins that we hope that you would have spent some time before mass asking the holy spirit to bring light to let us acknowledge our sins and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries and so we acknowledge so in sorrow this act of contrition of our sinfulness and what do we do right because remember we're the ones that are sharing and then i ask the blessed mary virgin right all the angels and saints and you my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the lord our god do you see what's happening you're asking all the angels and saints marry all of us to pray for you sinner that you are isn't that beautiful that that heaven and earth we are coming together heaven and earth are coming together in the mass but in the beginning in the ut introductory rites we're asking remember we're sharing god is receiving but we're asking our mother mary all the angels and saints and you my brothers and sisters everybody i need everybody to pray for me to the lord our god wow wow this is important because later on in the universal prayer you're going to pray for all of us i see the unity how beautiful but you can't pray for us because your heart is heavy and you can't lift it up yet so isn't that beautiful be mindful of that prayer and who you're talking to and what you're asking for because when we say you know i've sinned in my thoughts and my words and what i have done and what i have failed to do and you begin to do this right all your sins go like dust they come out this we are reminded of the tax collector right my god have mercy on me a sinner so we say that we have sinned in our thoughts and our words and what we've done and what we failed to do through our fault through our fault nobody else's fault is through our fault we forget that when we go to confession because we want to say before i tell you again what i did and why i did it let me tell you who made me do it and we hear this right from the creation story that woman that you put here that's what adam says and we hear no no it's not me it's the serpent no no it's us we have an awesome power we can't control the world we can't control anybody else seriously my brothers and sisters you can't even control yourselves but we have power and the awesome power that has been given to us in our baptism is to say yes to god and no to evil and satan and anything else that's the power that's the true power that we have and it's a terrible power because we can get that wrong we can say no to god because we reject him and we say yes to all these other things that are evil and dark and cause us to be separated from god so know that again what we're saying and what we're asking we're in need it's my fault lord a beloved child of god says it's my fault my fault only but isn't it beautiful that i asked the blessed mary ever virgin all the angels and saints and you my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the lord our god see how intimate that is we're all united together when one suffers we all suffer when one rejoices we all share in that joy and this is how we remain united we pray for one another and then we hear that general absolution may almighty god have mercy on us forgive us our sins and bring us to everlasting life again so far who's doing all the work god is doing all the work he's done all he's doing all the work he's even given you our mother mary all the angels all the saints and the means to have everybody all of us pray for you god is doing all the work and when we say may almighty god have mercy on us again we're asking the lord to our hearts are heavy to to scoop some of this stuff out so that we can make room for jesus and the gifts that he's about to give us so that we can make room for the holy spirit and all those gifts he's about to give us may almighty god have mercy on us forgive us our sins right love and mercy bring us pardon and peace may almighty god have mercy on us forgive us our sins and bring us to everlasting life everlasting life is what we say when our brothers and sisters have gone before us in faith may they rest see so mercy pardon peace it's the mission of christ it's beautiful may almighty god have mercy on us forgive us our sins and bring us everlasting life give us that peace and then again on the sundays and solemnities we have the gloria where we're giving glory and praise to god but remember in the gloria as well we're asking jesus we're talking directly to jesus and you're asking him for mercy lord god lamb of god you take away the sins of the world be mindful my brothers and sisters of how many times that word comes up and every time in your mind bring yourself back draw yourself back to say lord i'm begging for mercy again and every time i do that yeah you're taking out the misery caused by my sinfulness or the sinfulness of others and you're going to fill it with grace blessing healing love mercy pardon and peace and i need to be prepared for that but god is doing all the work all you're asked to do is actively listen and participate that's what we're being asked to do and then we hear let us pray whenever you hear let us pray sacred moment recollect yourself you're about to enter into dialogue with the father prepare yourself for that because remember we have been doing the talking and god has been patiently receiving what we're sharing with him but when we hear let us pray now god god is so attentive he is we're we're going to direct the words that he even gave us back to him and so we say let us pray and we say o god and we tell him what it is that we need we ask for inside his help and we say we ask this through christ our lord remember no one goes to the father without going through the sun and then we all sit and again we have that sacred moment of silence because we move from one right to the other all one right it's the mass the most beautiful prayer but then we go into the liturgy of the word a reading from the book of samuel eli said to samuel go to sleep and if you are called reply speak lord for your servant is listening when samuel went to sleep in his place the lord came and revealed his presence calling out as before samuel samuel samuel answered speak for your servant is listening the word of the lord here am i lord i come to do your will i have waited waited for the lord and he stooped toward me and heard my cry blessed the man who makes the lord his trust here am i lord i come to do your will dear lord please cleanse my lips and my heart that i may worthily proclaim your gospel in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit hallelujah [Music] my sheep hear my voice says the lord i know them and they follow me hallelujah [Music] the lord be with you a reading from the holy gospel according to mark may your words dear lord be on my mind on my lips and in my heart rising very early before dawn jesus left and went off to a deserted place where he prayed simon and those who were with him pursued him and on finding him said everyone is looking for you he told them let us go on to the nearby villages that i may preach there also for this purpose have i come the gospel of the lord may the words of the gospel wipe away our sins again just to touch on this part of the liturgy of the word again the first reading either from the old testament or the new testament is sharing our story our sacred story that god is sharing all that he's done throughout salvation history to make us once again his beloved children god loves you god has been pursuing you for an eternity and he won't stop until you are home once again there is nothing that can separate you from god's love and we simply need had to have faith in order to believe that then the psalm remember the psalms of david they're beautiful hymns and songs that are meant for us to meditate on that first reading they help us to see some of the themes and how god is speaking to us remember god speaks to us in scripture in those introductory rites we did all the talking but in scripture god speaks and we listen god speaks and he shares we receive remember here in lectio divina to ask ourselves what does the text say but what is it saying to me and what do i want to say back to god and what is god inviting me to a change of life something new to leave something behind to be converted what is god calling you to because the scriptures again is a person who's intimately speaking to you and again how beautiful it is that to remind ourselves that the deacon comes and he asks for a blessing father give me your blessing so that the father can bless him so that he can proclaim jesus's gospel it's beautiful and we as priests must do the same we have to ask god to cleanse our lips and our hearts that we may be made worthy to proclaim that gospel to proclaim christ and then we stand because once again it's jesus who's entering and he's about to proclaim the good news to all of us remember he's speaking directly to us that's why we stand and we say praise to you lord jesus christ we speak directly to him and we acknowledge that for us who are proclaiming we get to touch the word not a word on a page but the word that's been made flesh this is his words these words have everlasting life to them and so when we touch these words we literally are lifting this word off the page and asking the lord to be on our mind on our lips and in our hearts and then we proclaim and after we proclaim we say those who are proclaimed right through the words of the gospel may our sins be wiped away do you need to hear that again through the words of the gospel may our sins be wiped away that's what we say after we proclaim remember you say lord just say the word and my soul and why why can't jesus just look at you and say be healed why can't he just look at you as he did so many times in the gospel and say your sins have been forgiven take up your mat and go we say through the words of the gospel may our sins be wiped away that jesus's word is efficacious it has the power to forgive it has the power to heal we simply need to believe he asked time and time again do you believe that i can do this go your faith has healed you your faith has saved you take courage he says through the words of the gospel may our sins be wiped away and then we take a moment of silence and we allow god to use these poor priests of his his poor deacons his instruments to break open that word and the word for us at this moment is faith do you believe faith is required as we complete the liturgy of the word we complete that through our creed remember that's our baptism once again we're recalling our baptism we're bringing that baptism present when we state what we believe i do i believe in god the father almighty creator of heaven and earth i do i believe in jesus christ who was born of the virgin mary i do i believe in the holy spirit the forgiveness of sins i believe in the resurrection and the life i do this is holy matrimony this is where the lord espouses us we're sharing in the covenant we say i do to the lord when we proclaim our creed know what you say in every article take some time to pray with the creed and believe in everything if there's something that you struggle with take it to mary take it to joseph acknowledge that there's something in there that challenges you but don't hold on to it don't just let these be words it's our faith it's the faith of the church it's the faith that we have been baptized in it's the faith that has united us we're acknowledging all of god's works of love and mercy and so we must realize that that is in our baptism for some of us our parents and godparents did that on our behalf but now as adult faithful we can do that on our own we acknowledge that we believe and we need that faith to believe in the miracle that's about to take place and so after the creed we pray the universal prayer remember at beginning mass all of creation heaven and earth prayed for you a sinner and now we celebrate our baptist our baptism um baptism priesthood the baptized priesthood we celebrate that now because priests take a vow to pray for everyone and you share now in that priesthood as the baptized faithful to pray it's called the universal prayer or the prayer of the faithful and we pray to we turn to the father in confidence we pray for the pope we pray for the church we pray for our candidates and catechumens we pray for our brothers and sisters who are ill we pray for the gift of life for the unborn we pray for marriage in the sacraments we pray for so many things we pray for the protection of the first responders we pray for the conversion of sinners we even pray for our loved ones who have died and who are sharing in this eucharistic feast and the and the benefits and the graces that flow from it we pray for everything and everyone so that we are all people of prayer we even pray as jesus say for those who have persecuted us because we must love our enemies and pray for them we even pray for them we pray for storms and those affected by storms so many things to pray for and ultimately we say now and all the prayers and the silence of your hearts this is an opportunity all your worries all your concerns all those things that are struggling you the family this is where you state your intention because now as a family we're all praying together we remain in prayer and we do that through christ our lord that concludes my brothers and sisters the liturgy of the word once again we enter into sacred silence and then we enter into a song the song gives us lyrics that sometimes we don't have to have the words to get back to god but with joy we're praying but it's also a time where we can kind of meditate on what we just did and what we just heard and so just know that these we remain in prayer throughout this and so the procession takes place as we prepare the altar and so for here i always say well what about the altar of your heart we are a domestic church you are the temple of the holy spirit in your heart there is an altar and you're about to offer up a sacrifice a sacrifice of self remember jesus is offering the sacrifice we're about to make present not to reenact we're going to make present the passion of christ we are in that scene we're there remember divine will god's will god's grace cannot be contained by time not contained by walls we literally make present that sacrifice we make present the lord's supper i mean we're there we're there and as the disciples participate we participate as well but this time jesus not only offers the father the gift of himself as he promised us as he said to all of us do this in memory of me for every time we eat this bread and we drink this cup we proclaim the death of the lord until he comes again this is our promise he promised to be with us always and our promise is to remember him always in the way that he is always with us but this time jesus offers himself not only his body but his mystical body so we are being offered up as well we're being offered up as a sacrifice that's why when we say pray brethren that my sacrifice and yours what's on your heart what is the sacrifice of praise that you're going to offer the lord the sacrifice is yours too be mindful of what you're giving to the lord remember always making room for the grace blessing healing love mercy pardon and peace that are about to be poured on us and have been poured out throughout the mass so the gifts that are coming are our gifts that the father has given to us in order for us to give to him who's doing all the work the father he gives us the gifts to give him he's awesome you're awesome absolutely awesome but i ask you to think of these gifts in a little way that i am mindful of them in the day of my ordination after we were ordained and we were vested we came and we knelt down before the bishop prior to that family or friends brought up the chalice and the saborium which hold the bread and the wine that are about to be used for consecration and and this is absolutely beautiful so we kneel down before the bishop and he puts the chalice and saborium in our hands and he says receive the oblation of the holy people to be offered to god understand what you do imitate what you celebrate and conform your life to the lord's cross receive the oblation from the people the holy people to be offered to god understand what you do imitate what you celebrate and conform your life to the lord's cross how beautiful is that first of all again the gift of the sacrifice is coming from you the father has given it to you and on behalf of everyone here present your offering we're all offering together but what's beautiful is is that we acknowledge that this oblation this offering is for the father always to the father through the son and the spirit and so understand what you do in the person of christ the baptized priesthood we understand that we are doing this in memory of jesus that he asked us to do this because he instituted the holy eucharist as a memorial of his suffering and death that unless we eat this bread and drink this cup we cannot have life within us we do this because we love him and what he's done for us but we do it because we need to be nourished by this food by this person because it's true food and true drink and without it we cannot live so understand what you do imitate what you celebrate meaning deny yourself take up your cross and follow jesus and then conform your life be transformed be transfigured to the life of jesus right to the life of the cross it is an act the greatest act of love he's asking us to love as he is love to lay it down as he has laid it down so that he can take it up and he can bring us all up that we must we must humble ourselves so that he can exalt us and so once again receive the oblation of the holy people to be given to god understand what you do imitate what you celebrate and conform your life to the lord's cross beautiful and so here's the present how we prepare the altar blessed are you lord god of all creation for through your goodness we have received the bread we offer you fruit of the earth and work of human hands it will become for us the bread of life we've received from god's generosity and now we give back notice the words it will become for us the bread of life ordinary bread will become for us the bread of life it's it's it's a statement that says it's going to happen right and then we mix the water and wine and we say by the mystery of this water and wine may we come to share in the divinity of christ who humbled himself to share in our humanity we are reminded of the word that has been made flesh the enunciation the incarnation we say by the mystery of this water and wine you can you can go on the water the baptismal water the water at the wedding feast the canada that was made wine and it is now the best wine by the mystery of this water and wine what pours forth from the side of jesus we hear that water and blood flows from his side by the mystery of this water and wine may we right may the one who humbled himself to share in our humanity help us to share in his divinity through the mystery of this water and wine may we come to share in the divinity of christ who humbled himself to share in our humanity blessed are you lord god of all creation for through your goodness we have received the wine we offer you through the vine and work of human hands you become our spiritual drink again it will and then we say with humble spirit and contri heart may we be accepted by your lord and may our sacrifice in your sight this day be pleasing to you lord god it's important to note how many times in the mass we bow this is a profound bow this we bow with our heads when we say the name of jesus or one of the persons of the trinity or even marry the church instruct us that we can bow our head bow also when we when we come to the altar and those are carrying something they they bow when we come in we genuflect because we are in adoration of jesus and the tabernacle we do the same we bow to the altar and then we genuflect in adoration to jesus when we come in because the tabernacle is behind the altar so there are a couple of bowels there are bowels that we make and the creed when the word is made flesh but also there's the deacon will come and he too will bow for blessing just be mindful at times when we do a head nod or we have that profound bow this is a profound bow and then i turn and say you know do we wash our hands and ask the lord to cleanse us of our sins once again always always the lord asking the lord to make more room in our heart for the gifts that we are really truly going to receive when we take and eat this bread and drink this cup so we asked lord wash away my iniquities cleanse me of my sins again so many times we do that throughout the mass and now we say pray brethren that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to god the almighty father this is the prayer over the offerings look kindly upon our service oh lord we pray that what we offer may be an acceptable oblation to you and lead us to grow in charity through christ our lord the lord be with you lift up your hearts let us give thanks to the lord our god it is truly right and just our duty and our salvation always and everywhere to give you thanks father most holy through your beloved son jesus christ your word through whom you made all things whom you sent as a savior and redeemer incarnate by the holy spirit and born of the virgin fulfilling your will and gaining for you a holy people he stretched out his hands as he endured his passion so as to break the bonds of death and manifest the resurrection and so with the angels and all the saints we declare your glory as with one voice we acclaim holy holy holy lord god of hosts heaven and earth are full of your glory hosanna and the highest blessed is he who comes in the name of the lord holds sauna and the eyes please be seated so when the angel gabriel comes to marry he says hail mary full of grace the lord is with you because mary is full of grace remember that is the life of god is the gift of god we say the lord be with you right that's what our desire is for the lord to be with you and with my spirit but this time we have to be mindful once again that we are speaking to god we're speaking to the father please be mindful of that your words sometimes i think when i'm a little scattered and something distracts me one of the ways i recall what i'm doing is sometimes i close my eyes and i picture my words saying what i'm saying so that all my attention now is drawn i could see my lips saying these words and now i'm not distracted anymore i'm listening to the words i'm saying the words and i'm relating to the words another way to bring us back in the mass because we have spoken to the father it is truly right and just our duty and our salvation always and everywhere to give you thanks where's the father where's the father where's the father the father is in heaven the father is in heaven so yes where the son is the father and the holy spirit we it's a great mystery but father is in heaven and that's why we say blessed is he who comes in the name of the lord where is jesus at this point he's at the right hand of the father jesus is at the right hand of the father we know that he's at the right hand of the father interceding for us but listen to these beautiful words again holy god the father holy god the son holy god the spirit trinity again holy holy holy we did that with the lord have mercy christ have mercy lord have mercy lord god the father have mercy christ the son have mercy lord the holy spirit have mercy lord christ lord here we are again holy holy holy we are speaking to the triune god holy holy holy lord god of hosts heaven and earth are full of your glory hosanna in the highest blessed is he jesus who comes in the name of the lord hosanna in the highest why are we saying blessed is he who comes in the name of the lord because jesus is about to come into the bread he's going to be the body and blood he's go as though we invoke the holy spirit jesus is about to come blessed is he who comes in the name of the lord because right now he's at the right hand of the father interceding for all of us it's pretty beautiful isn't it but be mindful again in the you us we this is a personal intimate conversation and every time we say you we're speaking to a person right praise pray you know blessed are you lord god of all creation we're having that conversation so let's be mindful of that going forward and now this is another sacred silence i have to tell you i'm really asking the lord to prepare me i ask him to infuse me into the bread into the wine so that he consecrates me constantly into the divine will that he constantly consecrates me into the heart of jesus so that jesus and i could never be separated what a beautiful thing to consider we also will receive an invocation to the holy spirit it's called an epiclesis and it happens twice in the mass and what that means is this is an epiclesis we are doing an invocation to the holy spirit because we need the holy spirit to transform the bread and wine into the body and blood of christ again be mindful of the conversation the prayer so the eucharistic prayer is the high point of the mass the consecration is the high point of the eucharistic prayer in the liturgy of the word the high point is the gospel in both cases it's jesus is the high point of the mass so listen to these words again as if they were your own words you are indeed holy oh lord the font of all holiness make holy therefore these gifts we pray by sending down your spirit upon them like the dewfall so that they may become for us the body and blood of our lord jesus christ that's eucharistic prayer too the other eucharistic prayers also in a way the eucharistic prayer speaks about your son your beloved son and whose command we celebrate these mysteries at this point the bread and wine are no longer bread and wine they are the body and blood the real presence of jesus christ remember what's needed faith obedience of faith says that we freely surrender our intellect and our will and we simply believe because god is trustworthy god is truth and god always maintains his promises and everything that god has told us is true so we believe out of love and out of obedience because of who god is so now we he now jesus who was at the right hand of the father has now come into our midst he's truly present here he's present in his word he's present in the faithful he's present in his priests but he's really truly present in the eucharist he's here all right and then remember we are making present we're not reenacting we're making present the last supper we're making present the passion of christ his resurrection his ascension we're making all that present we have entered into the scene and so we here at the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion he took bread and giving thanks broke it and gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and eat of it for this is my body which will be given up for you so now let's just go through that once again at the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion where are we we're we're entering again into the scene the lord's supper we're entering into the passion we've we've come to calvary he he jesus took bread and giving thanks broke it this is scripture we know we've heard this in scripture and gave it to his disciples saying and now who's speaking take this all of you and eat of it who's speaking jesus and he's speaking directly to you take this this is his body all of you and eat of it this is my body which will be given up for you i love this which will be given up for you at every mass every day i'm giving this up every day for you so it is present and it will be at every mass take this all of you and eat of it for this is my body which will be given up for you given up once and how he continues to perpetuate his gift his sacrifice for us in the mass beautiful and then at this point we genuflect because we are in adoration jesus is here we know he's here so the genuflect reminds us that i'm in in adoration at this moment in a similar way when supper was ended he took the chalice and once more giving thanks he gave it to his disciples saying again this is jesus speaking to you take this all of you and drink from it for this is the chalice of my blood the blood of the new and eternal covenant which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins do this in memory of me again how personal it is this is my body this is the chalice of my blood that is being given up for you for the forgiveness of sins do this in memory of me and so he what he asked the disciples to do at the last supper which is happening now he's asking us to do the same because we are here in their midst and then we say the mystery of faith remember faith is what we need and here's the mystery we proclaim your death o lord and profess your resurrection until you come again who are we speaking to where is jesus on the altar right and here's the other formulas when we eat this bread and drink this cup we proclaim your death oh lord until you come again save us savior of the world for by your cross and resurrection you have set us free do you see how personal it's one on one it's very very intimate so that when we are in this consecration when we're in the eucharistic prayer this is a time for us to be present as jesus is present to all of us it's important for us to kind of be present at this moment and so we we proclaim the mystery of our faith and then we continue with the prayer therefore as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection we offer you lord the bread of life and the chalice of salvation not bread and wine we offered that before it was consecrated now what we're offering is the bread of life and the chalice of salvation the body and blood of christ giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you hello did you hear that giving thanks remember we're speaking to the father that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you where are we where are we where is the father he's in heaven and so if we say giving thanks to you who have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you all my brothers and sisters we're all the way to heaven we've gone to heaven we're in the presence of the father yes remember no one can go to the father unless he goes through the sun we're going through the sun because he's here and he's taken us right to the father oh how beautiful is that so but i'm always when when these words come how humbling it is to say that we're in your presence and we're ministering to you like god doesn't need us he doesn't need anything and yet the humility of god so meek and humble that he allows us to minister to him it's pretty beautiful but here's the word humbly we pray that partaking of the body and blood of christ we may be gathered into one by the holy spirit so we see how the father is doing this now the spirit is uniting us this is beautiful remember the mass is for the living and deceased remember lord your church spread throughout the world and bring her to the fullness of charity together with francis our pope and john our bishop and all the clergy remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection and all who have died in your mercy there's that word again welcome them into the light of your face have mercy on us all we pray that with the blessed virgin mary mother of god with blessed joseph her spouse with the blessed apostles and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages we may merit to be coheirs to eternal life and may praise and glorify you through christ through your son jesus christ and here's the second epic thesis remember we invoked the holy spirit and what did the holy spirit do transform the bread and wine into the body and blood of christ there's a second epiclesis the church teaches us and this is it that when the priest elevates and sometimes with the assistance of a deacon when he elevates the saborium and the chalice filled with the body and blood of christ this is an invocation to the holy spirit this is this over all of you and so what we're asking the father is the way the holy spirit made the bread and the wine holy that you all are also made holy why because the head jesus is the head that has been his body and blood and we are the mystical body right we're united and we're going to be we're being taken up as a sacrifice with jesus so in order for us to receive holy we must become holy who's doing all the work the father he's sending the holy spirit now to do what was done to the bread and wine to do to us and here it is and it's through jesus through him and with him and in him oh god almighty father in the unity of the holy spirit all glory and honor is yours forever and ever amen your amen is saying i own it and not only do i believe it i accept it i acclaim it i owe it's my i believe all what you just did i believe i own that's me right we're embracing it and so now we stand at the savior's command jesus commands this and formed by divine teaching what we have learned we dare to say so this is interesting i love the word dare i dare you i dare you well first of all is because we're speaking to the father and the for us one of the ways that god has inspired in me to look at the our father is again we're speaking to the father son and holy spirit in the first part of the prayer we're acknowledging our father who art where is he he's in heaven hallow be thy name holy is your name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven it's happening right now and then we turn to jesus give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us that's why we dare because we're asking the father to forgive us the way we forgive others we're asking the father to forgive us as we're giving him permission to forgive us as we forgive others yeah there i did when you hear dare you're like oh there's that there again right and then we turn to the holy spirit whose lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil my brothers and sisters if if there's anything that you can glean from all of this is god's intimacy divine intimacy and the disciples asked jesus specifically to teach them how to pray and these are the words that jesus gave them we cannot just go through this prayer without relating it to the father and to the son and to the holy spirit he gave us the words to communicate intimately with him but sometimes in the mass we just go through that prayer i like when we sing it because it slows us down and we're really speaking from the heart sometimes i invite everybody well let's just let's just do this now and we dare to say our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil and now put your hands on your heart everyone put your hands on your heart and now we dare to say our father who arts in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil different isn't it the father is in your heart the father is in all our hearts we just need to touch him as he touches us in the eucharist we can touch him in this prayer and then we continue talking to him deliver us o lord from every evil and graciously grant peace in our days that by the help of your mercy there's that word again we may be free from sin and safe from all distress as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our savior jesus christ for the kingdom the power and the glory are yours now and forever and this is a moment of deep profound intimacy i get to look at jesus i get to speak to him personally one-on-one divine intimacy lord jesus christ who said to your apostles peace i leave you my peace i give you look not on our sins but on the faith of your church and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will who live and reign forever and ever again that word peace means i have been reconciled to the father and to one another we desire that and what we say is the peace the eucharist the sacrament of reconciliation the peace of the lord be with you always and then we say let us offer each other the sign of peace this is again an opportunity for sharing what we receive almost to say i forgive you please forgive me i forgive you please this is the peace that jesus says i forgive you so let's share that peace with one another the peace of the lord be with you always let us offer each other the sign of peace and now be mindful again because you're about to speak directly to jesus and where is jesus in the eucharist lamb of god you take away the sins of the world have mercy on us lamb of god you take away the sins of the world have mercy on us lamb of god you take away the sins of the world grant us peace please be seated that sounds so familiar again doesn't it but this time it's more personal more intimate lamb of god you take away the sins of the world have mercy on us again we're begging for mercy continue lord to scoop out of me my misery because i need to make as much room as i can in my heart before i receive the eucharist because the grace the blessing the healing the love mercy pardon and peace jesus is about to give me lord jesus have mercy on me have mercy on me have mercy on me and so there's a a fraction right that happens now as we as we prepare for all this we fraction the bread and we say may this mingling of the body and blood of our lord jesus christ bring eternal life to us who receive it that's interesting to hear again we did we fractured the bread because he broke the bread and he gave it to his disciples so that they can be one he's broken so that we can be made whole be made one and at this point we break off a little bit of the host of the eucharist and we gently put it in the precious blood of our lord and we say may this mingling of the body and blood of our lord jesus christ bring eternal life to us who receive it again the memory here is his body is resurrected the blood was shed he died for us and now through his death and resurrection we are made one we are made one he is one and we celebrate again his passions death his passion death and resurrection we're celebrating all here and through these actions and so before we receive we say one of these prayers lord jesus christ son of the living god who by the will of the father and the work of the holy spirit through your death gave life to the world free me by this your most holy body and blood from all my sins and from every evil keep me always faithful to your commandments and never allow me to be separated from you the other prayer we can quietly say is may the receiving of your body and blood lord jesus christ not bring me to judgment and condemnation but through your loving mercy be for me protection and mind and body and a healing remedy sound familiar again healing remedy and once again the genuflect and then we take the host and we show you the fractured host and we elevate it the body and blood of christ this is a moment of adoration this is a moment again to silence ourselves to quiet ourselves and to behold behold means to allow all your energy everything your heart your mind your soul your strength your being everything to see to engage what you're looking upon and so we're asked in the words of john the baptist behold the lamb of god behold him who takes away the sins of the world blessed are those called to the supper of the lamb isn't that beautiful we have been called to the supper of the lamb we're here and so once again behold the lamb of god behold him who takes away the sins of the world blessed are those called to the supper of the lamb again we usually say that their words but be mindful that you're speaking to jesus and what are you asking just just say the word and my soul shall be healed and we receive we say may the body of christ keep me safe for eternal life may the blood of christ keep me safe for eternal life and this is again this is a sacred moment you all are going to process up to receive jesus how are you receiving him sometimes we go around and we're acknowledging people that's always nice to acknowledge people this is not that moment this is an intimate moment you're coming to receive grace and blessing healing love mercy pardon peace be present to this holy exchange remember jesus says no one can come to the father unless you come through me we are never ever closer to the father in this moment than we are in the moment of holy communion this is god's desire for you to be one with you holy communion is a holy union and this is everything that the father has put together in motion so that you and he can be one once again and this is that moment it's a holy kiss it's a holy embrace perhaps a scripture moment for us to consider is when the prodigal son comes home he says i have sinned against heaven and earth and no longer deserve to be called your child treat me as one of the servants the higher workers but the father immediately wraps him in a beautiful cloak he wraps his shame he just wraps him he holds him he embraces him he kisses him and he says we must celebrate because this child of mine was dead and has come back to life he was lost and has been he's been found this is great celebration for the father he's throwing this feast for you and now he gives you the opportunity to receive his infinite love and divine mercy really truly in the eucharist and then when we go back and we're asked to really spend some time contemplating the great miracle that has happened before our eyes and not only that but the gift that you have received all those gifts all the graces all the blessing all the healing that jesus is doing for us at this moment all his infinite love divine mercy the part in the peace the eucharist for us forgives venial sins it has the power to forgive venial sins we still have to go to the sacrament reconciliation especially if we have something mortal and grave on our heart we don't want to receive the eucharist that way scripture says we bring condemnation to ourselves but rather we want to go to the sacrament of reconciliation as the lord says if you have something against your brother go and reconcile and then leave your gift and then come back that's what we want to do but this is a great moment of beauty of intimacy the father is touching you you who touched the sacred wounds of the son by his wounds you were healed so we spend some quiet time reflecting on it perhaps you want to speak to jesus perhaps you just want to listen to the music that's causing us the opportunity to reflect and meditate perhaps this is an opportunity to to say a prayer i love the animal christie sometimes and i'm saying soul of christ sanctify me body of christ save me blood of christ inebriate me water from the side of christ wash me passion of christ strengthen me oh good jesus hear me within your wounds hide me suffer me not to be separated from thee from the malicious enemy defend me in the hour of death call me and did me come to thee so with all the angels and saints i may praise thee for all eternity these are intimate prayers and there's so many the saints have given us so many prayers but your own words are really really beautiful because they come from your heart and so while that's going on we are bringing the host whatever is left over we reserve in the tabernacle that's truly reserved for those who are homebound and sick and unable to share with us that's why we have the blessed sacrament reposed and reserved and while we're cleaning the vessels this is beautiful for us to hear where once the vessels are cleansed this is the secret prayer that either the priest or the deacon says what has passed our lips as food oh lord may we possess impurity of heart that what has been given to us in time may be our healing for all eternity there's that word again is that beautiful let me share that again so as we rinse and we purify the vessels and we consume the water that's in the the what the fragments that are left over the precious body and blood of our lord in the water we say what is past our lips as food oh lord may we possess impurity of heart what has been given to us in time may be our healing for all eternity so beautiful and then we take those moments of sacred silence to once again just simply thank god for his precious gifts let us pray may your healing work oh lord free us we pray from doing evil and lead us to what is right through christ our lord and now we share in our prophetic ministry we go out with joy knowing that we have been made one with god and god has given us all these gracious gifts and we are to take these gifts into the world and to share with everyone what christ has done for you the lord be with you and may almighty god bless you the father son and holy spirit go in peace glorifying the lord by your life hail holy queen and throne above hail mother of mercy and love love oh my [Music] sing with us he said heaven and earth please [Music] [Music] ridge you
