communion of the holy spirit be with you all brothers and sisters let us acknowledge our sins and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries i and confess that i have great sin in my thoughts in my words all the angels and saints and you my brothers and sisters to pray for me [Music] may almighty god have mercy on us forgive us our sins and bring us to everlasting life lord have mercy r [Music] have mercy [Music] lord have mercy [Music] is [Music] [Applause] [Music] we adore you we give you thanks for your great glory [Music] lord jesus christ [Music] us [Music] oh [Music] is [Music] let us pray [Music] keep your family safe o lord with unfailing care that relying solely on the hope of heavenly grace they may be defended always by your protection through our lord jesus christ your son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the holy spirit god forever and ever amen so a reading from the book of the prophet isaiah in the year king uzziah died i saw the lord seated on a high and lofty throne with the train of his garment filling the temple seraphim were stationed above they cried one to the other holy holy holy is the lord of hosts all the earth is filled with his glory at the sound of that cry the frame of the door shook and the house was filled with smoke then i said woe is me i am doomed for i am a man of unclean lips living among a people of unclean lips yet my eyes have seen the king the lord of hosts then one of the seraphim flew to me holding an ember that he had taken with tongs from the altar he touched my mouth with it and said see now that this has touched your lips your wickedness is removed your sin purged then i heard the voice of the lord saying whom shall i send who will go for us here i am i said send me the word of the lord [Music] thank you [Music] in the presence of the angels o lord may we praise your name may we praise your names [Music] may we raise your hand [Music] of [Music] i will adore [Music] r [Music] i will thank you lord for your faithfulness and [Music] all love hopes and dreams [Music] you gave life to the strength of my soul [Music] [Applause] [Music] we [Music] a reading from the first letter of saint paul to the corinthians i am reminding you brothers and sisters of the gospel i preached to you which you indeed received and in which you also stand through it you are also being saved if you hold fast to the word i preached to you unless you believed in vain for i handed unto you as of first importance what i also received that christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures that he was buried that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures that he appeared to cephas then to the twelve after that he appeared to more than 500 brothers at once most of whom are still living though some have fallen asleep after that he appeared to james then to all the apostles last of all as to one born abnormally he appeared to me for i am the least of the apostles not fit to be called an apostle because i persecuted the church of god but by the grace of god i am what i am and his grace to me has not been ineffective indeed i have toiled harder than all of them not i however but the grace of god that is with me therefore whether it be i or they so we so we preach and so you believed the word of the lord [Music] come after me and i will make you fishers [Music] a reading from the holy gospel according to luke [Music] while the crowd was pressing in on jesus and listening to the word of god he was standing by the lake of jenesseret he saw two boats there alongside the lake the fishermen had disembarked and were washing their nets getting into one of the boats the one belonging to simon he asked him to put out a short distance from the shore then he sat down and taught the crowds from the boat after he had finished speaking he said to simon put out into deep water and lower your nets for a catch simon said in reply master we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing but at your command i will lower the nets when they had done this they caught a great number of fish and their nets were tearing they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them they came and filled both boats so that the boats were in danger of sinking when simon peter saw this he fell at the knees of jesus and said depart from me lord for i am a sinful man for astonishment at the catch of fish they had made seized him and all those with him and likewise james and john the sons of zebedee who were partners of simon jesus said to simon do not be afraid from now on you will be catching men when they brought their boats to the shore they left everything and followed him the gospel of the lord r jesus [Music] if today you win were to win the lottery will you receive the money or would you just let it go let's be honest with ourselves when we where to win the lottery and receive all this money do we we just keep it or if someone comes to you like if you let this go and follow me i'll give you more you will let it go this is similar to what happened to peter today peter spent the entire night fishing doing his work to be able to be able to feed his family to be able to feed himself to be able to pay for what he needs to pay to have life to have to be to have what he needs to survive and he caught nothing so imagine all the work that we do and then suddenly like [Music] there's nothing left and they're cleaning their nets and then they come this man that is you can hear him in the background just talking to all these people as people are rushing to him he asking can you can i use your boat so that i can talk to all of them will you allow that man to asking you for this small favor after that disappointing night to pull out into the sea to pull out into to go out into the place where it was kind of hurting to a place where we weren't able to do what we needed to do we were able to to follow the work that needed to happen that we worked hard enough and it wasn't enough we're able to go back there with this man that people seem to be like in love with him that they you can hear the stories of how many people have been saved and healed how many people are walking how many people have just received this new hope yet do we do we listen to his voice to go out again into that place that was hurting and as we pull as we may say yeah sure why not let's go into the boat and maybe just kind of relax a little while you talk and i'll listen maybe i'll hear something maybe i'll get some little bit of hope in the midst of the pain or maybe i get a little more hope of the miss like maybe i'll figure something out for what i'm gonna do next and as you finish he says can you pull out into deeper can you keep going forward into that that pain you keep going forward to that disappointment that you just had all night and then cast your net again into the sea like throw your entire livelihood again and hope that you can get something and when he does he receives so much first peter kind of says uh you know i'm tired i'm tired of like just i did all this work you really want me to do this you know what why not now that why not that that that answer like okay i'll do it because you say it because i have nothing else open his heart and his mind and his life again as he receives this enormous catch that lasting very very long time not only be able to feed his family to be able to be comfortable himself for maybe a couple months maybe who knows how long but that's what jesus is kind of calling peter into he's telling him i can give you what you need he's telling us i can give you what you need even in the midst of the pain if you trust me if you allow me to go with you there if you give me the opportunity to heal that place that is hurting that place of disappointment that place where where hope seems not to exist i want to be there with you i know that you can come i know that you can work things out i know that we can you can figure something out but i want to heal you right there where it hurts so that you can have an abundance of life so you can have more than enough of what you need more than enough as it both was about to sink because of how much the cash they had to ask friends to come over to help them in the same way he calls us it's like i'll give you more than enough of what you need [Music] and we have to be attentive to what i need and what i want there is there's a difference there god wants to give what we need because he knows he can trust that what we need is his himself what we need will allow us to grow closer to him allow us to our lives to be transformed by him allow us to be like him and to be a light to others so peter comes into and breaking all human logic he leaves everything behind and follow christ because he knew that this amount this livelihood that he just gave him this it was nothing compared to what he will receive what he will receive if you just follow christ he asks of us the same it's like he gives us what we need the desire what we need into our lives and he says trust me i can give you even more if you want to stay with this i won't stop you but i want to give you more if you follow me if you have the courage to say okay lord i see the livelihood you give me and i want to follow you because i know that you can give me something even greater something that nothing no one can take away and that is eternal life it's the life that he has promised to us that we'll be able to be in that heavenly banquet with him to rejoice with him to have the joy and the peace and the love that he has promised from the beginning for a moment on the cross when he gave his life for us we see [Music] but we have to be attentive and i think in the first reading and even peter there was a moment there that both isaiah and peter kind of say i'm not worthy lord for you to call me i'm not worthy to receive what you're giving me i'm not worthy to to be in your presence sure we're not yet we are in him yeah he calls us because he wants to be with us not because of our worthiness not because of what we do what we we want to do who he calls or he comes to us because he loves us he wants to be with us he wants us to stop hiding from him and to allow ourselves to be found by him to be able to be found and then to be sent with him and that's what we receive in the holy eucharist so it's a beautiful as as the angel comes and brings to isaiah that that ember and touches his mouth and makes him clean we come to confession we are made clean we come here to the eucharist to receive christ from the altar so that we can have the courage and the strength to follow the mission the mission that christ has given us from the moment of baptism that is a mission to spread the good news to share with our brothers and our sisters and with everyone that there is hope that there is salvation that christ himself has come to set us free and that we have received that freedom that we have received the freedom to be able to walk in his light and to be who he made us to be so i challenge all of us as we come to receive communion there are amen or it may not just be another amen so as we say amen we say i truly believe that it is you jesus christ right there that set me free that when we say that amen gives us the opportunity to receive the courage to receive the joy and the peace of christ to be able to be a lamb a light in the darkness a light for our brothers and sisters that there is hope that there is salvation as christ is calling every single one of us today by name he comes into our lives and he says i am here come with me if you want to stay with little i give you that's okay i'll come around and see if you want to come back again but if you want to be courageous and bold today come with me and i'll give you more than you ever desire now brothers and sisters as we approach the lord let us profess our faith i believe in one god [Music] believe in the lord jesus [Music] because christ made consubstantial with the father through all things from him christ man for our salvation begin not from heaven and by the holy spirit according to the scriptures [Music] i believe in the holy spirit [Music] oh [Music] amen we are not afraid for we know that the lord calls us to do his will for pope francis for bishops priests and for all who have been called to be fishers of men that they may have the courage and perseverance to cast their nets in deep through him the host of angels adore your majesty and rejoices in your presence forever may our voices we pray join with theirs in one course of exalted praise as we acclaim [Music] oh [Music] oh [Music] you are indeed holy o lord and all you have created rightly gives you praise for through your son our lord jesus christ by the power and working of the holy spirit you give life to all things and make them holy and you never cease to gather a people to yourself so that from the rising of the sun to its setting a pure sacrifice may be offered to your name therefore o lord we humbly implore you by the same spirit graciously make holy these gifts we have brought to you for consecration that they may become the body and blood of your son our lord jesus christ at whose command we celebrate these mysteries from the night he was betrayed he himself took bread and giving you thanks he set the blessing broke the bread and gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and eat of it for this is my body which will be given up for you in a similar way when supper was ended he took the chalice and giving you thanks he said the blessing and gave the chalice to his disciples saying take this all of you and drink from it for this is the chalice of my blood the blood of the new and eternal covenant which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins do this in memory of me [Music] so the mystery of faith is [Music] therefore oh lord as we celebrate the memorial of the saving passion of your son his wondrous resurrection and ascension into heaven and as we look forward to his second coming we offer your intense giving this holy and living sacrifice look we pray upon the oblation of your church and recognizing the sacrificial victim by whose death you will to reconcile us to yourself grant that we who are nourished by the body and blood of your son and filled with his holy spirit may become one body one spirit in christ may he make of us an eternal offering to you so that we may obtain an inheritance with your elect especially with the most blessed virgin mary mother of god we blessed joseph her spouse for your blessed apostles and glorious martyrs and with all the saints and whose constant intercession in your presence we rely for unfailing help may this sacrifice of our reconciliation we pray o lord advance the peace and salvation of fullness of your glory through christ our lord through whom you bestow on the world all that is good through him and with him and in him o god almighty father in the unity of the holy spirit all glory and honor is yours forever and ever [Music] you [Music] [Applause] [Music] at the savior's command and formed by divine teaching we dare to say our father who art of heaven hallowed be our name thy kingdom come thy will be done on our blessings in heaven and forgive us our trespasses and flee from your builders who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil
