our emphasis is i want to live healthy having a positive attitude i'm sure you'd agree that having a positive attitude is one of the most important factors that contributes to good health northern at caribbean university is all about holistic development the physical emotional mental and spiritual aspects are all catered to this through our various departments and programs here at ncu so this evening we thought it appropriate to give you the tools and resources needed to develop a positive attitude ncu also enjoys a very good relationship with the jamaica union conference of seventh-day adventist jamu and by extension the atlantic caribbean union conference as both our organizations join together in education and evangelism we're also united in health education and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle now there's a lot to get to this evening but first we begin with our praise and worship session i am blessed i am blessed every day of my life i am blessed when i wake up in the amen what a vibrant praise and worship session if that doesn't get your blood pumping i don't know what will there's nothing like exalting the lord at the beginning of a program such as this if you're just joining us you are watching the live stream of the jamaica union conferences health emphasis week 2021 under the theme i will go embracing a healthy lifestyle they have partnered with another carbon university this evening and our emphasis uh for this evening is i want to live healthy having a positive attitude in a bit we'll be hearing from the the uh health and ministries director with the jamaica union conference uh dr dudley hosing who will be giving us the welcome and an overview of the program however we will have a short video of the motivational variety telling you to keep it going [Music] so [Music] amen praise the lord thank you lincoln good evening everyone indeed god has been good to us he has spared our lives to see day number two of our great health emphasis week god has blessed us last evening and we know that great blessings are in store for us this evening this evening invite you to sit back and relax but be very focused because god has great things in store for you and this evening the theme as lincoln mentioned is i will go embracing a healthy lifestyle having a positive attitude we're going through this program and the main objective is to empower individuals to acquire healthy habits each day each week you adopt one today you keep that and you acquire another one and you keep on keeping on pricing on the upward way and gaining uh every day so it is important that the onset that you have the mindset that you will be able to do it so last evening we looked at the importance of drinking enough water we saw that the body must be kept hydrated because the body is made up of water more than 60 percent of the body's water so we need water to lubricate the entire system and to eliminate toxins so we need to have that habit of drinking water and somebody says they need five to stay alive aid to feel great and tend to rejuvenate and this evening we're looking at that healthy habit that sometimes we oftentimes overlook that is having a positive attitude according to a series of studies done in the united states and europe people that are optimistic who see life from a positive angle even the most adverse circumstances enjoy better health than those who do otherwise these individuals face illness much better than others and their recovery from surgery is often time much faster what is more impressive is the impact that a positive attitude has an on overall health and also longevity of these you must know then tonight you'll hear from dr earl but please note what the wise man says in proverbs 17 verse 22 and merry heart does good light medicine but a broken spirit dries up the bones so we ask you this evening to to to embrace this positive attitude and each evening we look at a new health habit and we ask you to embrace it and keep on doing that as the days go by and you'll find that this will become a lifestyle because change is never never easy change is difficult but as you make the effort you know the divine biblical commentator says success comes when human effort is combined with divine strength so connect with god and trust him and he will work through you both the will and to do of your good pleasure so i welcome you to this evening's program and we know that it promises to be good you can't afford to miss any evening rain or shine you must be on time stoma earthquake you can't be late the preacher said if you plan to die postpone your funeral if you plan to take a flight you need to remember that you have an appointment every night on these platforms as we teach you as we educate you and empower you to embrace a healthy lifestyle god bless you have a healthy and happy evening in jesus name amen amen uh thank you so much pastor jose for that welcome and greeting and i'm sure uh those who are watching on facebook and youtube will be blessed by this series because we need to have a positive attitude and there's so much more coming this week this is just the beginning of the blessing however there are others who are waiting to greet you and will be having those greetings in a moment we will also be having our opening prayer and scripture reading and here to greet us this evening first up is the president of northern caribbean university a man who is no stranger to those here at northern caribbean university and i'm hoping no stranger to the members of the 7th adventist church family at large and that is dr lincoln edwards good evening dr edwards good evening lincoln and good evening to your listeners really delighted to be a part of this uh health week emphasis you know they health message has been a part of the mission of the seventh adventist church since its inception a northern caribbean university which is owned and operated by the church also subscribes to this mandate as we endeavor to cater to the overall health and well-being of the ncu community and by extension the nation at the main campus the ncu campus the cafeteria a healthy plant-based alternative to meat is served and the physical plant is so arranged as to allow students to get exercise while walking to different parts of the campus so sometimes when they are walking to their classes uh they get their exercise in fact you can ask them about the famous or some might even say infamous steps to christ which is one alternative to get from the gymnatorium to the upper campus then of course there is a fitness center and a basketball and volleyball courts and a football field a healthy dose of fresh air is also provided as we are known as a college on the hill and our attitude ensures that this commodity is in abundance right there on the campus the ncu radio is also known as a health and wellness station as we cater to the nation most importantly we adhere to the principles of the seventh-day adventist church by emphasizing the spiritual development of our students and workers by ensuring that our curriculum includes faith and learning and that the university church provides for the spiritual nurture through our weekly summit services and other spiritual events such as weeks of prayer therefore because of the value we at the university place on good health the administration our workers and our students are pleased to be part of this initiative which is being hosted by our parent institution the jamaica union and it's been held under the theme i want to live healthy eight healthy health habits we also commend the jamaica union for spearheading this health emphasis week because in doing so the union is leading the charge and has been a prime example to its parishioners and the wider jamaica in the cause of an improved lifestyle to be attained through helpful practices we thank dr hosin and the coordinators of the event and pledge our continued support towards this and similar initiatives that will improve the life of our fellow men so i greet you well from the northern caribbean university and leave with you the words of 3rd john 1 and verse 2 which states beloved i wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health even as thy soul prosperity do enjoy the proceedings of the week and i pray that you all of us will learn and grow and remain in good health just as the lord desires god bless you and have a wonderful evening thank you god bless you dr edwards as well thank you so much for that greeting i believe also joining us this evening to extend the greetings is the executive secretary with the jammu and that is dr merrick walker thank you so much host and pleasant evening to all you have joined us from far and wide and already you have heard the accent that which is accented by dr lincoln edwards and and embracing our philosophy of health and also articulating our practices i greet you warmly with endorsement to the program and i wish you well all of yours and i do so in the context of congratulating the team you have been second to none what we desire is that we are not just reacting to situations around us that mitigate against our health but we are very proactive and hence in prevention so let us listen attentively with one heart and that is to practice what we will learn and those things which will be reaffirmed things we have already known so greetings and a special welcome from the administration of the jamaica union and we're happy that you have joined us and we salute our guests and we're going to have a wonderful night together hear he the gospel according to the goodly doctor who presented last night it is good news the good news of health god bless blessings blessings uh dr walker i pray that the lord will continue to be with you and the team at jmu up next we will have our opening a prayer followed by our scripture reading you to be mindful of your holistic health specifically your mental health prayer is a proven method to help you be kind to your mind and so let us lift our hearts or spirits and our minds heavenward right now as we pray loving father you are an awesome god we give you thanks for this opportunity to meet virtually to exhort each other and to be guided and reminded of how we can live healthily in all faculties of our being i ask you kindly to wash us darling from all our sins and to prepare us to receive the blessings of this program father be with the proceedings be with all those who will share please guide them and help them dear god to serve as unto you and not because of self or because of any other human kind but as unto you father in heaven i'm asking of you to let your spirit be in or midst all be virtually right now and in our hearts and i just pray that this will be a spiritual experience that will empower us to live healthily in all faculties of our beings thank you so much for being with us thank you for your healing touch because you want us to prosper and be in good health so we welcome and with grateful hearts we praise your name for your healing touch in jesus name we pray amen amen amen amen thank you dr louis sword for the prayer just now at this thank you at this point in time we will have more scripture reading now just to let you know i am jason winter and i am attached to to the department of behavioral and social sciences here at northern caribbean university based in mandeville now just to let you know from a departmental standpoint we are ready to continue the good message on health and as i go into the scripture reading which are two folders i'll tell you in advance so you can get your scripture out and ready or your text your bible rather first corinthians chapter 6 verses 19 to 20 and we'll also be looking at first corinthians chapter 10 verse 13. so get your bibles in hand so that that's first scripture reading taken from first corinthians chapter 6 verses 19 to 20 as well as first corinthians chapter 10 verses 31. i'll go right into that and then i'll share a bit about how the department is ready to support your quest for good health and in particular good mental health now the first bible scripture reading again first corinthians chapter 6 verses 19 19-20 and it says and i'm reading from the new international version do not do you not know that your bodies are temples of the holy spirit who is in you whom you have received from god you are not your own you were bought at a price therefore honor god with all your bodies our second bible verse comes up to us first corinthians 10 verse 31 and it reads so whether you eat or drink or whatever you do it do it all for the glory of god and as we focus on health just to let you know that the department of behavioral and social sciences stand ready to support your quest for good health good emotional health we are the department we do offer programs in psychology criminal justice social work guidance counseling counseling we are a department that caters on equipping men and women to serve in the field of the behavioral and social sciences domain so if you want to know how to be a social worker or you want to start your journey to becoming a psychologist well come on over to department we are here to support your holistic health and in particular in looking at your mental health thank you thank you we look forward to working with each and every one of you thank you so much for that and i just want to encourage those of you who are watching whether you're watching on facebook or youtube to take advantage of the offer and i believe it will be a blessing we need that support no more than ever we are in the midst of something unprecedented and i think it is extremely important for us to use all the tools necessary to strengthen us as we go through in faith if you are just joining us you are uh watching the live stream of the jamaica union conferences health emphasis week 2021 under the theme i will go embracing a healthy lifestyle our emphasis this evening is i want to live healthy having a positive attitude in a little bit we'll be hearing from the director of health services mrs diana wright richards who will have a health nugget for us however before we go to mrs richards we will be having a short video from the ministry of health jamaica moves initiative [Music] so here are the facts seven out of ten jamaicans die from a non-communicable disease jamaica moves is a call to action to prevent non-communicable diseases by educating and encouraging jamaicans to be active eat healthy and start living 30 minutes at a time [Music] because 30 minutes of physical activity each day along with proper nutrition can go a long way to prevent your risk from developing certain ncds such as diabetes high blood pressure obesity and certain cancers and remember it's life promoting that's why you see me going hard right now i'm all about living so help us take this first step towards a healthier jamaica so you can enjoy more moments more memories more life [Music] good evening brothers and sisters in christ and visitors at large [Music] i will be sharing with you a health nugget as it relates to a positive thinking in order for us to have good positive thinking we first will have to have a good mind and a good brain and so now i'm just going to share with you my my screen hey here we are so think right and live right the body achieves what the mind believes the health and wellness department of the northern caribbean university believes that if you are not well you cannot serve effectively and we embrace wholeheartedly holistic health of spiritual physical social and mental we cater to the entire we cater to the entire human being the brain is the organ and instrument of the mind and controls the whole body in order for the other parts of the system to be healthy the brain must be healthy and in order for the brain to be healthy the blood must be pure if by correct habits of eating and drinking the blood is kept pure the brain will be properly nourished now what are some of the brain threats that we have we have saturated fats such as our poultry and our cheese trans fats or donuts and other sweets that we intake excess iron excess copper or aluminum even some of the pots that we use in our kitchen now what are some of the brain protectors so that we can have positive thinking vitamin e beans and chickpeas blueberries and grapes green leafy vegetables sweet potatoes for extra power exercise intellectual stimulation and sleep is very important the best foods for your brain or almonds or walnuts or as nuts brazil nuts broccoli blueberries pomegranate avocados sage or seeds or sesame seeds or flax seeds and or pumpkin seeds now positive thinking and positive attitude helps to cope more easily with the daily affairs of life it brings optimism into your life and it makes it easier to avoid worry and negative thinking it's a good mental attitude that expects or gives us positive results no the the road and safety unit of jamaica always emphasize that it's important for for you if you're going to ride that you wear a helmet so you can protect your head it's a matter of life for life or death because it's not easy to recover from a brain injury and so this evening the health and wellness department of the northern caribbean university say protect your mind and your brain it is a matter of life and death and finally brethren what's where things are true whatsoever things are honest whatsoever things are just what sort of things are pure what sort of things are lovely what whatsoever things are of good report if there be any virtue and if there be any praise we ought to think on these things and i want to leave with you as well it is not what you think you are but it's what you think you are stay positive keep those brains healthy and alive i thank you thank you so much uh it's not what you think you are it's what you think you are i think that's something we should take with us as we go this evening that was the director of health services mrs diana right richards was a very very powerful message i pray that we will take it to heart here at northern caribbean university we believe in the power of prayer we believe in the power of prayer and we will be having a special presentation or rather a special prayer session no and i believe that will be led by pastor robert wright good evening everybody thank you so much lincoln uh my name is robert wright as you've heard i'm the director of the lng white research center and uh we invite um persons to call in or [Music] um you know you have any questions um my email addresses are right and see you and of course you know the university's number you can call and uh they will transfer you to the dui so we're gonna pray this afternoon i apologize for my dogs barking and disturbing the peace but uh they are praising god in their own way so let's borrow heads for prayer heavenly father the bible tells us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made we were made in your image and likeness we were made to have dominion over the earth we were made to be like you in the things that we do in our creative abilities and capacities we were made to think and to reason and to will to do things we were made to have communion with you to reflect your glory and how we live in uh the way we uh behave the way we speak the way we dress we are supposed to show forth the glory of god but not only that in the health that we enjoy uh the uh and keep my commandments um i will not bring upon you the diseases of the egyptians so this implies that you did give your people health laws health principles by which they were to live and uh when they did obey those laws indeed the nations around admired them because of their great wisdom their great intellect their great um their level of health and their intelligence we see it also in the situation with the three the four hebrew boys in babylon they remained faithful to your health principles and they excelled academically their mental capacity was sharp they were more intelligent than all the other guys who fed from the king's table and they maintained good all-round health physically spiritually and uh mentally as well and that blessing can be ours today you have given us um even more extensive uh instructions in the spirit of prophecy as to how we are to live uh healthy and well and we see so many others who are taking these principles and they are embracing them they're living them and they're enjoying the benefits the blessings it is your intention that your people your remnant church should show forth your glory in a healthy lifestyle and so father we thank you for the benefits of health but if we do not live these principles we will not enjoy the benefits i pray tonight that as we focus on helpful living uh especially in the context of what's happening in our world today uh i pray lord that you will help us to be faithful to you even in this because violation of any one of god's laws is sin whether it's the moral law or the health law once we go contrary to it we have committed a felony against you and your word tells us that we were bought with the price of the precious blood of jesus therefore we need to honor god in our bodies uh in our body temple because the holy spirit dwells within us so i pray allah that as we go through this uh series tonight help us to see the importance of it help us to embrace it uh help us to run with it help us to share it help us to live it and we know that when we are healthy and our immune system is healthy and strong then we are able to ward off many of the diseases that have picked us uh in in so many ways and even the matter of having a good laugh the bible tells us that a merry spirit uh um a memory heart do it good like medicine but a broken spirit drieth of the bones mental health emotional health physical health spiritual health all of these are god's blessings to his people and the word of god tells us and the spirit of prophecy tells us how we may have all around hell thank you so much lord for the blessing you have given to us help us to live it and embrace it and do bless us as we go through the rest of this program in jesus name amen amen amen thank you so much for that prayer pastor wright the director of the lng white research center here at northern caribbean university up next we will be blessing your heart with some special music and that will be followed by a brief testimony titled the ncu experience from chrisann jackson so [Music] [Applause] today a man is somewhere proclaiming the good news bringing families to jesus all around his neighborhood he tells them that god is able to make their house a home he wants to win the world for christ but he can't do it alone [Music] but each one [Music] [Applause] [Music] to the savior and together we can tell the world that jesus is the way [Music] if we just [Music] another message is unchanging go into all the world and share the love of jesus far away your door to door you see just like somebody told you that jesus loves you so you must tell someone who will tell someone until the whole [Music] as we follow after christ we all can be what we can lead one to the savior and together we can't tell the world that jesus is the way [Applause] if we [Music] want [Music] so will you go and labor will you hold hide your lies one by one two by two we can win the world for jesus christ each one carries on as we follow [Music] somebody to the same and together we can tell the world that jesus is [Music] reach one please [Music] that was absolutely beautiful beautiful beautiful singing and uh each one ought to reach one and we do hope that we are reaching you with this presentation and this program this afternoon and one of the things that helps to emphasize a positive attitude is wonderful soul stirring gospel music up next we will have the nco experience testimony by chrisann jackson eu because of all of the rules and regulation but for me ncu has been a great experience for me because one it has refined me growing up in the inner city i was used to aggression being aggressive being hostile being competitive not in a good way but here at ntu i learned how to deal with situations better we every morning for every class you have to pray you have to have a devotion before class that is has been a new experience for me here at mcu and it has taught me how to really pray being here has taught me how to really pray how to depend upon god for everything not only some things but every little thing so it has been a great experience in terms of the whole spiritual and holistic development ncu has truly it has truly lived up to the words the motto of being a holistic development institution because they don't only prepare you for educa with um academics they prepare you in terms of how you deal with people socially spiritually emotionally even physically because we have the gym we have stepped to christ it's a lot we do a lot of work in like a physical activity so ncu has been great and i enjoyed and i wouldn't change my experience here for any other institution it is a great experience and i am grateful that i chose nce [Music] yes uh powerful testimony there from uh chrysanne jackson and i must tell you it's very difficult to attend ncu and not come away with a testimony of god's goodness and power and our emphasis on health and wellness excellent testimony there we are about to get into our presentations for this evening and first up we will have a presentation titled the importance of positive attitude and that will be done by professor in the department of graduate psychology dr arlena brown earl following that we will have another special musical item i do hope that all is well with you today we'll be looking at positive thinking a positive attitude is key and very important on the christian pathway deuteronomy 31 verse 6 reminds us to be strong and be courageous not to be afraid because the lord our god is with us and guess what my friends he will never leave us or forsake us you see a positive attitude is the key the key to a happy and a healthy life let's always remember that a key okay now let's talk about something a little bit if you feel confident in yourself what happens you will be able to solve problems and make better decisions isn't that true yes when we exhibit an optimistic attitude we will certainly feel good about ourselves but it also helps us to make others feel good and so when we're focusing on different situations in our lives we will look at the good more than the bad in the situation turn our bibles now let's turn our bibles now to joshua 1 verses 78 and in joshua 1 verse 78 we are reminded to change our mindsets we are to be strong and courageous when we step out in faith to get things done we are to obey the bible and very very very importantly what are we to do brethren and friends we are to be constant in prayer with the lord day and night when we do this we will exhibit positive thinking and have a positive attitude in psychology and counseling in mental health circles we talk about cognitive behavior therapy or cbt when this occurs the therapist is helping you to think in positive ways so you change your behavior and you start doing positive things and once again you become productive and positive members of society your thoughts are right you're more likely to do what is right now proper health habits are going to be key to help your mind to do the right things isn't that so it certainly is and so easter maker conference reminded us of the importance of water and i hope you all listened and followed and are drinking your water and using your water in all the therapeutic ways that we are encouraged to use our water we as some adventist christians we know about new start and about celebrations and so we are encouraged to do these positive things so that we will exhibit positive thinking and also we will exhibit positive behaviors so here we are in the midst of this pandemic never knew that we would ever have so much screen time in our lives so what are we doing as it relates to positive thinking well we need to make sure before we go out to help anyone that we are thinking positively very important so i want you to look within yourself now are you focusing on the good things are you being positive in what you think and do and say i hope so because that is going to be very very important now as we cope with this pandemic situation in our lives where are you are you doing positive things just to keep yourself busy or are you doing positive things and helping people to know about christ through your actions this is what is going to be ultimately important that you recognize the love of christ and share it with others now as we talk about positive thinking we have to remember quite a few things isn't that right oh yes we must so we have to remember that we have to encourage people where possible to touch in positive ways yes we must and we want them to focus on doing the different activities they do in positive ways so when you are positive thinker you're going to plan ahead yes you're going to plan and you're going to do things so that there are less hitches and less stressors for all the individuals involved that is a part of positive thinking now i want as we sit and listen to do something for me i want you to get a pen and a piece of paper and i want you to try as best as you can to think of some things in your life that you can make positive changes yes okay so let's talk about our eating habits ah that's right can we be cutting off the sugar now yes okay great can we start by being caring can we take up our phones and send positive messages short positive messages to our spouses that's positive thinking to our children that's positive thinking to our neighbors and our friends and you know we need to make sure we do this so when you go back out into the communities again and are greeting people it won't be that that's the first time they're hearing from you in a long time so when we think positively we say okay what can i do now in a very nice way so that the lord will be glorified i want us to think also of our sleeping habits oh yes when we have good rest we are rested well it is very likely that we will exhibit a positive attitude because you'll be refreshed and you'll feel so good okay so that's something to think about another thing that helps us as we think positively is our financial habits because we'll become better planners we'll become better organizers of our money once we are thinking positively interesting isn't it oh yes it certainly is so here's some things i want us to practice to do as christians that will help us to relax it would help us to as they say think in such ways that we will be calm and we're more likely to be nicer with individuals are you ready let's go number one i want us to start to be forgiving that is a positive trait that we must practice and when we practice that positive behavior it helps to free our minds and relax and our thoughts are going to be more on christ-like behaviors great okay i know you're going to be practicing that one the next thing i want us to do is to let go of the past if we believe god has forgiven us that means that you're a positive thinker yes so if you're positive think and god has forgiven you you will have let go of your past then i want you to do something for me right now if you are sitting beside someone if you are with someone on the phone just laugh just laugh i just smile no they will not think that you're having a mental health problem but it's important for us to practice to smile and to laugh when we are positive thinkers when we exhibit a positive attitude smiling and laughter are wonderful things to do because guess what they are contagious and they make people feel good and we all love to feel good isn't that right yes that is so true then of course i want us to look at each other get your mirror get your phone and i want us as positive thinkers to accept our beauty you're tall you're short you're full figured you're slender ah you have a beautiful nose you have lovely ears accept your beauty accept what god has given you god loves you and so it's important as we are positive thinkers to make sure that we would have learned to love ourselves because parents when we love ourselves we share that with our children and they will learn to love themselves also now what does matthew 6 33 remind us yes you know it seek ye first the kingdom of god and all these things will be added unto you so we need to work on our positive strengths yes we need to work on them and make sure that we encourage other persons to be positive as well have you ever gone into an office and the receptionist is just absolutely pleasant even if you went in there to quarrel or to argue you were upset you immediately would have calmed down and so the positive attitude of the receptionist gave you a positive attitude how positive are you today how positive do you want to be at the end of each day that will largely depend on the choices that you make as i close i want us to remember that we must develop a positive attitude and we must do this by working at it it's a choice that you make he said dr browner or you mean a choice that i make yes it's a choice that you make you choose to be happy or not with all the stresses around you so here are a few little things i'm going to encourage you to do number one have a regular prior life in the morning before you get out of the bed at your family worship pray before your meals in the midday pray in the evening pray pray as often as you can but if you can't have special times when you pray that will be absolutely wonderful and prayer with family is going to be key and remember when you're praying with your family members and especially your children call their names let them know how important they are [Music] you uh [Music] [Applause] foreign [Music] foreign ah [Music] [Music] a man and a man absolutely beautiful well if you are just joining us you are watching the live stream of the jamaica union conferences health emphasis week 2021 under the theme i will go embracing a healthy lifestyle and our emphasis this evening is i want to live healthy having a positive attitude up next we will have a presentation from the medical officer of healthcare associates dr simona chung and her presentation will be on a covert 19 home-based education and i think this is extremely important i think you need to perk up and listen to everything that dr chong has to say this evening now dr simona graham chung is a medical doctor a general practitioner in private practice she is a trained health promoter of the adventist health message and believes in the eight laws of health which she uses along with modern medicine in her daily practice dr chung we are looking forward to your presentation hello everybody good evening thank you for that introduction and now i will go directly into my presentation which is done how do you deal with in terms of care and prevention and first thing we'll do is have a short prayer or father nor god thank you for this opportunity help us to dear god help someone else even ourselves to manage hope within these difficult times i pray in jesus name amen i seek it every day and it can be a particularly difficult illness to deal with and a lot of times i realize that people deny the symptoms of coping so one of the very first things i want to do tonight is go through what are the signs and symptoms that of course that could be telling you that something is going wrong how do you know that what you have may be covered so i would like to share my screen at this time to show you my presentation all right so i'm going to go ahead and share my screen all right so you may or may not have a fever sometimes we think that if they don't have a fever it isn't covered no delta variant especially i have seen many instances where people did not have a fever yet still had coving and the covet cough tends to be an unproductive cough which means a dry cough and sometimes you start to cough up phlegm and that may be a sign that there's another infection on board along with the kobe which is not very common what happens at times now the biggest trouble sign of course is shortness of breath when somebody has trouble breathing persistent pain or pressure in your chest there are newly conscious they have a confusion about that they never had before they keep asking who are you worse or questions that they should know the answers for they are very drowsy their skin their lips or their nail beds change color especially changing to blue you know that something is really wrong no a headache some people would could have only one symptom and that is a headache and they can have the headache for many days before the other symptoms come in so look out for a crushing headache that you've been like you've never had before or sometimes it's a mild headache but it is one of the symptoms of kobe that people sometimes underestimate a lot fatigue is one of the big symptoms you feel tired as if you can't do anything you walk a short distance and you feel so tired it comes along with muscle weakness and a lot of time body aches even chest pain that people think they're having a heart attack and it is coping one of the big telltale signs that it is called is when you lose your smell or you lose your ability to taste nausea and vomiting and diarrhea were not originally thought of as public symptoms because covet was thought of as a respiratory illness but now code is known to disrupt all systems and especially in children and their symptom of kobe may be simply vomiting and diarrhea now how do you know that somebody is in distress with kobe if they're breathing more than 24 breaths per minute if you count their breaths in 15 seconds multiplied by four and they're breathing more than 24 breaths per minute you know that they are having a sign of distress in children especially they may start to grunt each time they exceed a hero grunting sound if their nose are spreading his nose nasal um the nose spreads right open when every time you start you're breathing and if you have retractions if the chest occurs to sinking just below the neck or below the ribs or between the ribs you know that something is wrong sometimes we just start to switch once the person is sweating or they're wheezing or they have to lean forward and take deep breaths then you know that they're having signs of distress and they should be getting emergency care a heart rate of 110 per minute or more is really a telltale sign of distress so there's something called silent hypoxia which is when you have low oxygen levels but you don't even notice it some people are very good at having low oxygen absorb without looking distressed so how would you know that you're having certain hypoxia that is if you have a pulse oximeter at home they're sold in most pharmacies in the island for about four thousand dollars around that price and they're they're as low as 60 on amazon so everybody can have a pulse oxymeter and keep it in the house and any reading of under 95 can mean that the person could be in danger while a reading of 92 or less definitely means that the person is having critical illness now vital signs to observe it's a pulse if you have a pulse oximeter you check the person's oxygen level and it is at 95 or more their pulse rate is between 100 and 109 they you can continue for monitoring but you should definitely see medical attention for oxygen saturation between 93 to 94 the pulse rate goes over 110 or the temperature goes over 38.1 degrees celsius no urgent medical attention is needed if the pulse oximeter reading is 92 percent or less the heart rate has gone over 131 at temperatures more than 39 degrees celsius now it has been noted that the unvaccinated suffer more from the standpoint of illness hospitalization suffering and death it is unpractically the word much more vulnerable now how do you care for kovid at home the first thing is don't ignore these symptoms all of you just say i'm having a little sinusitis i'm having flu i have my cough or cold all of these are called with honesty prove otherwise a lot of lives might have been saved people have treated their symptoms immediately as coping rather than spend days or weeks doing some ultimate treatment and really ignoring the sciences just a sinusitis or something like that now the don'ts when you have copied and if you know you have cover suspects to have code immediately change the way you eat stay away from the processed manufactured foods absolutely no dairy stay away from the cosmic a lot of mucus is produced by things like cheese laska horlicks chocolate and don't forget the eight laws of health they are the basis of health so if you have to return to them so you're gonna have a high ingestion of fruits and vegetables grown provisions anything that's natural you're going to have antioxidants and polyphenols and everything in there is going to help you to fight the copy one or sunlight daily minimum if you're interested for a long time drink water while you're having the sun exposure keep moving a covered patient should be moving very minimum of 30 minutes per day even if you're weak have someone to support the person have them move a little bit around unless they're really really too weak to do it but once they can move have them moving and when you sit in bed when you're in bed try to sit around and lie down and never ever lie flat on your back it's always on your side or on your belly and it's important to do deep breathing exercises nobody can have coping and recover their lung capacity properly without doing deep breathing exercises now one of the brain exercises that you do is to take a deep breath in you hold it there for five seconds and then you breathe out you do that five times on the sixth one when you take the breath in you hold it for five seconds when you breathe out you cough and that is one cycle complete you do two cycles of that eight times a day and you're helping to oxygenate the lungs now there's a youtube video with a doctor demonstrating on a bbc video it shows perfectly with this technique now the next thing you need to do is postural drainage if you have somebody to help they can do the percussion cupping technique where they cut their hands in in this shape as a cup and they do a drumming action on your lungs with you lying down in this position for the posterior lobe we notice the top position for the posterior lobe of the lung and the anterior lobe again there are videos on youtube especially one called posterior drainage techniques by major physical therapy those will be metro physical therapy sorry those would be perfect for helping you to drain the lungs if you're by yourself you have nobody to drink you just adopt position number one for five minutes several times for the day and that if you notice that the person is not in a slanted position with the legs elevated over the head that would help to drain the secretions out of the lungs you must try to prone as i say always lie on the bed it's extremely beneficial for cold patients so they have one pillow below the neck a soft pillow one or two supplements between the chest and the abdomen so you can do deep breathing and two pillows beneath the shin that is the position you should lie in now if you want to prevent kobe some of the things you can do is take either mectin believe me it has helped a lot of people it's not approved in the public system as yet and the usa if they have not yet approved it but it has helped a lot of people anecdotally and in scientific research also prevent coping and to treat coverage so at 0.2 milligrams per kilogram once a week that is 12 milligrams 18 milligrams for most people vitamin d3 at least a thousand units vitamin c again and it's a thousand milligrams quercetin which is found in onion garlic and ginger it can help you a lot of 250 milligrams zinc and more gargles now food scientists found that if you eat an orange it's simply better than popping the vitamin c because a unique mix of antioxidants work much more effectively together than when they're found separately so eat your fruits and vegetables even if they do not deliver as much milligrams of the vitamin as the supplement does they're very very effective in helping so if you think you went out and you're exposed to kobe are you in your house you feel as if you're exposed to cool what should you do first you do three things steam which i'll get details of later use the flow bomb and use a food grade notice a food grade oregano oil and it has been shown in more than one medical um studies to have a strong antimicrobial effect now steaming you do what you see here it can be a small bowl or basin you put it with hot boiling water and you put eucalyptus oregano garlic peppermint onion and you keep yourself in that position there as you can see with the top oil over your head and taking in the steam with big breads for 15 to 20 minutes if you have full you can still up to 40 minutes for sure you have coffee now the flour bomb you drink it every 15 minutes it's a blend of turmeric 6 inches dark ginger six inches garlic tin pegs and onion two medium ones you blend them with six to twelve tablespoons of lemon juice five tablespoons of honey and two cups of hot water you take three to four tablespoons of that every 15 minutes now if it irritates your stomach which the lemon can help to irritate your stomach you can remove the lemon and the honey make it into a soup inside especially the person is not eating add extra cup of hot water add some carrots and some sweet potatoes and now you have a soup that the person can drink regularly which would be helping them to fight the colby no you can use the superfluous prevention to one tablespoon um two to three times a day can help to prevent you from getting covered also if you are exposed if you have gastritis or ulcers don't take it every 15 minutes take every 30 minutes instead and to sew this stomach you can use super m or marshmallow or you can take quarter of an organic cabbage that cap does not expose the pesticides or properly rinsed in vinegar and properly rinse again in water after that and you blend it with 20 ounces of water and you drink 4 ounces 30 minutes before consuming the food or the mixture itself it helps to prevent the stomach from being irritated by the mixture and children under 10 must be getting half the dosage of the super flu bomb now some natural remedies that has helped oregano oils and studies have shown have strong microbial effects 10 15 drops in two tablespoons of honey or coconut oil or olive oil put straight into the back of your throat do not let it touch your tongue or your lips and that can really help to prevent from tree covered vitamin c one gram twice daily there's something called very acf that contains a condition a lot of immune system builders zinc probiotics liquid b complex vitamin d and burdock which several studies showed they have powerful antioxidant helps to cleanse the blood you take that two capsules thirty minutes before your meals twice daily and customers are great it helps to prevent constipation keep the virus moving through your system it does enter the gastrointestinal system you want it out so you take a cascara saga tablet a capsule once daily to help you to move that virus out of your system so you can use as i mentioned i've been making for at least five days if you have proven covet at a higher dosage that is than 0.2 milligrams it goes up to 0.6 up not all the time but depending but know that the delta is around it can go as high as 0.6 milligram per kilogram this has to be done on the medical supervision by the way it's not just done by yourself you do this on a medical supervision i can always use panadol and biology for your temp high temperatures and body pains you keep monitoring your oxygen we told you about before 92 and you know that you need to get a concentrator at home oxygen concentrate is a machine that makes oxygen right there in your space and it can help those people who are struggling with levels of oxygen below 92 percent but though no one should be at home self-treated with oxygen saturation less than 92 you need urgent medical attention then so at the hospital they normally give either they don't give everyone at the hospitals here but some hospitals across the world especially in south america and australia and other places that they give the hybrimectin but they use vitamin d3 vitamin c quercetin zinc aspirin to prevent blood clots and they use an antiviral mouthwash now actemra and rem de severe are monoclonal antibody therapies and antivirals that are very good have shown good um good effects efficacy in studies and also have been used they're quite expensive or three thousand us dollars for the treatment but they're used here in jamaica and across the world to help to treat coving in hospital vexameta zone antibiotics physiotherapy as i mentioned before using the cupping hand techniques breathing techniques iv fluids when you're in hospital the management of your diabetes hypertension other co-morbidities is very very important now as we as i leave you i want you to remember that all these therapies mentioned needs a foundation of good health you need a healthy body for these therapies to work pure air sunlight temperance rest exercise proper diet use of water and trust in divine powers these are the true remedies follow the eight laws so you can have a healthy enough body to sustain these therapies and our final thought disease never comes without the cause the waste prepared and disease invited by disregards of the laws of health so don't forget the laws of health through all of this thank you thank you dr john all right so much information that we have received from god's medical missionary dr simon chung you can review and ensure that you get what you should get from this presentation this evening we are very happy to have with us for the second time dr frank genius who currently serves as the health minister's director of the inter-american division of seventh-day adventists dr genus is passionate about extending the healing ministry of jesus he is a health educator and his burden and passion is to see individuals embracing a healthy lifestyle in the inter-american division this evening as he comes to us and the power of the spirit extending the healing ministry of jesus we ask that you pray for him as the lord empowers him to bring us vital words of information inspiration that we may be mobilized and that god may manage us to walk the life of health reform and living the life that counts being wrapped up and tied up and tangled up in jesus welcome dr genius god bless you i will go embrace a healthy lifestyle friends i'm inviting you to join me in a series of six presentations that will change our life for good and god willing forever [Music] but talking about change we all know that this is the most challenging task that one has to undergo in his personal life overall when it comes to lifestyle changes what we need to change is not of our favorite pair of shoes not a job not even a piece of real estate what we have to change is the everything that makes you you we're talking about total transformation total we knew all of one's we're talking about what we call total health but one lasting changes is a lifelong journey in this series we are going to focus on a particular aspect of the journey we are going to answer to the question why why is it that we need to adopt a healthier lifestyle friends bear with me as we are going over 10 key reasons why adopting the optimal lifestyle is a must in our day-to-day life in those days [Music] reason number one health is a good news reason number two health is a good news that is based on the promises of god this is very important to understand that these principles of health if we put them into practice god give us the quote-unquote guarantee that we will have results for what we do health is a good health we have health is a good news and health is a good news that is based on the promises of god that's actually the reason why one of the reason why it is a good news actually let me just tell you that the third reason and this is the beauty of it is that health is a good news because it's also based on scientific evidence and we will say this in our next video reason number two this is what we are going to concentrate on today health is based on the promises of god promises of god so we know that for fact that health is a gift from god but where do we find evidence bad biblical evidence that god is even interested in our health so as we said health is based on the promises of god and guess what we are going to share today four promises from god that is related directly to our health status the first promises that god did to us it's a very very evidence that from the biblical perspective god and let's say that put it that way jesus can heal us from any type of diseases we know that for fact when jesus christ was walking on the earth he spent much more time healing curing treating taking care of people than even preaching according to our author elaine g white jesus christ spent at least two times more time healing curing treating people than preaching therefore we know for fact that the first promise that god made us in the bible is that god can cure us from any type of diseases let's let's look at it one of the bible verse that gives us this evidence we find it in so psalms that the book of psalm 103 verses 1 to 5 but we are going to read the last part of it you remember this song this is a very well known song i praise the lord my soul praise the lord my praise the lord o my soul all my in must be prays his holy name and so on and so forth and then he continues to say he is the one who forgives all our sins who heals all our diseases here is one of the most powerful verses in the in the bible god he forgives all our sins but also he heals all our this is this is one of this verse but there is another beautiful and incredible verses in the bible that talks about this promise that god make to us is this promise that we find in matthew 4 verses 23 24 and 25th matthew chapter 4 23-25 jesus went all over galileo there he thought to the synagogue he preached he preached the good news of the kingdom and he healed every illness and sickness of the people can you hear this he healed every sickness of the people and in some accounts they said that when jesus christ arrived in capinell capilneon he actually left the city without not even one single person having any sort of pain or sufferings whatsoever jesus can heal every one of our sickness that why brothers and sisters what we need to do whenever we are sick whenever we are in pain we go to the lord and we pray the lord and we ask the lord to heal us from our sickness therefore the first the one of the most beautiful promise of the bible is that god can cure all our sickness the second promise of god is incredible we say that the first promise that the bible told us is that god can cure us of any type of diseases but the second promise is incredible it's even for me goes even beyond this first promise this is a promise that we find all over the bible we are going to show some to do to choose some of the verses but we need to know that the second powerful beautiful promise of god regarding our health is that yes god can cue all our this is but his will for us what he wants for us is that we not we don't even get to be sick at all the promise in the bible the second promise of jesus christ in the bible for us is that it does not want us to live a life of sickness suffering and death the will of god for us is not merely that he will cure us when we are sick he doesn't want us to be sick let's see that in the bible exodus 15 verses 26 he said if you listen carefully to the lord your god and you do what it is right in his in his eyes if you pay attention to his commands and keep all the decrees i will not bring you any of the diseases i brought to the egyptian for i am the lord who heals you i am the lord i am the god who heals you god is telling us he is our personal doctrine there is other beautiful verses you know the verses in two chronicles seven verses fourteen there are many beautiful songs about these verses if my people who is called by my name will ambulance themselves and they pray and they seek my face and the turn they witness way ways then i will hear from the from i will hear from heaven i will forgive their sin and i will heal their land and there is these beautiful verses that i want to share with you verses that we find in exodus 23 verses 25 26 worship the lord your god and his blessing will be on your food and your water he will take away your sickness it will take away all sickness among you there shall be neither women that are bored nor woman no no buried woman in your land it is said in these verses it will take away the sickness from you this is the second beautiful promise of god for ourselves for you and for me that he will take away the sickness from from you first promise he can heal us whatever sickness we have but second promise is desire is that we are not sick at all and this promise the second promise is illustrate illustrated very beautifully by ellen j white in these uh in this text that we find in step two christ chapter five when he says his listen to this it is a mystic to entertain the thought that god is pleased to see his children suffer it is a mistake to think that god when we are suffering god is powerless or he doesn't care about this and and she continues all heaven is interested in the happiness of men what she said she said all heaven is interested in the happiness of men it is a mystic to think that when we are sick that we are suffering god does not care about that therefore second promise first promise he can cure us from any type of sickness but second promise it does not even want us to forsake [Music] [Music] amen god doesn't want to see his children suffer it is god's worship of all things that we may prosper and be in good health god wants to empower us to prevent disease in the first place and if we should contract any disease he's there for us i like that quotation from elon might it is not his wish for us to suffer he wants us to have a happy life jesus says i am come that they might have life and have it more abundantly and of course the promise is still valid as dr genus quoted exodus 15 26 god says if we listen to him and obey him he will heal us it's conditional god is large god is in charge we can't tell him what to do sometimes he allows some folks to die but it is his wish and general desire is for us to be in good health and experience optimum health and even longevity in this pandemic as we continue to navigate our path in these deep waters let us remember that god loves us and he wants the best for us he wants us to comply with all the conditions outline the laws of health are as sacred as the ten commandments so we obey both and trust him i like the songwriter when the songwriter utters some vital words of inspiration and information trust and to be for there is no other way to be happy in jesus but to trust and the being that's the essence of the christian life to trust god and obey him he's the one who he is the one who empowers tonight my brother my sister you have this choice to make choose choose life choose jesus choose his way his laws choose to embrace a healthy lifestyle and he will do great things for you so we ask you to type your prayer request in the chat elder nigel cook will pray for you this evening pray that folks that have connected to this network will embrace a healthy lifestyle i pray that individuals will even accept jesus because jesus is the one who gives power he says without me you can't do anything and of course paul says through me you can do all things say that i can do all things to jesus christ who gives me strength i can be healthy i can live healthy i can live the life that counts god wants the best for you he loves you with an everlasting love and he will take you from nowhere and he will bring you somewhere he will take you from the bottom and he will bring it to the top he will empower you he'll inspire you he'll strengthen you so tonight just assume an attitude of prayer and if possible a posture of prayer as the cork prays for you god bless you let us go ahead i'm amazing in grace [Music] my [Music] but now i [Music] grace [Music] my fears [Music] me [Music] when [Music] [Music] is [Music] [Music] amen let us pray almighty god and our father we give you thanks this evening that you are not just god but you're our god our savior and our lord we thank you this evening that we are in our right minds we are able dear lord to communicate with you we are able to participate in this program we are able their father to breathe and so in a very significant way we want to give you thanks because we know it's nothing good that we have done but it is in you that we live and move and have our being so tonight as we gather and as we listen to the presentations we understand the law that yes we were wonderfully made perfect but oh lord sin came in the devastation that it has caused is still with us and our fathers we battle covet 19 we know it has impacted many lives in a mental way or father the frustration the challenges he cops the economic follows the devastation which kovidhas caused has caused many to wonder where you are but we're thankful and with confidence we know that you are still in control so as we give you thanks lord we pray for those who have been impacted in a mental way many are distressed and depressed oh lord because we are held in our homes at times dear lord it has caused multiple problems some are not seen and some are quite visible but oh lord we ask once more that you'll be merciful unto your children be kind and and loving and caring as we know you are your love for us all no bones so lord where there is doubt remove it from the minds of people who want to believe that you're not a good god and you're not loving and kind and forgiving so father help each one of us to help each one as we follow after you help us to reach one as the singer did sing earlier each one reach one let us dear lord remember that povid should not hinder us from witnessing for you hope it should not hinder us from being our a good neighbor in our neighborhood help us dear lord to be kind teach us to love you teach us to love others so that despite this pandemic and its many and very challenges we will show indeed that we serve a living god a god that is able to do everything that we would want him to do a god that is able to keep us from falling and oh lord present us pure and true to god the father o lord teach us to be wise teach us the lord to surrender or will to you that as you work with us and we work with you we will be victorious and for those who are in doubt of who the savior might be jesus christ may this program and all the planning and all the presentation that goes with it convince many who are known online who are online maybe for the first time the second time for this week may their dear lord surrender their will to you and become a member of the seventh-day adventist church this is our prayer this is our accent through jesus christ our lord and our savior amen amen and amen thank you so much for that prayer it was moving and touching and i think a fitting end uh to our presentation this evening and that was the communication and director with the jamu elder nigel coke at this time i'm going to invite the health ministries director dr dudley hosing just to join me here to share some closing thoughts uh on the program i'm sure he has much to say because it was indeed a comprehensive program i know i was blessed and i pray that if you are watching on youtube and facebook that you were blessed as well pastor jose thank you indeed a comprehensive program you know positive thinking having a positive attitude is foundational because health starts from the mind and paul says be transformed by the renewing of your mind daniel purpose in his mind that he would not defile the body temple the temple of god so you know we like that that we must always be positive we must see the glass half full instead of half empty we must be an optimist not a pessimist because your thinking and your thoughts and i heard uh you know uh the manager for the health services mentioned you know that you're not what you think you are but how you think you are that is very powerful profound and and that is what happens what affects the mind affects the body there is a close relationship and the divine biblical commentator ellen white says that nine tenths of the diseases from which men suffer starts from the mind so you know as we begin to be positive and think well and trust the lord things will work out and the covet 19 treatment at home we need to do what we can of course we shouldn't take over but in the early stage as dr chong says you know the first two days if you go beyond that you know you need to go and link with your health care provider but it's good for us to practice some home remedies and as we combine integrate and collaborate you know the best of both worlds natural conventional we should be able to to to experience optimum health the most desirable status health status so let us do our part and ob link and i and i see that you have been embraced uh you have been embracing the health message you know like you did a little extra this week you look healthier this week than the last time you tell me the secret sir maybe you have some new secrets that you want to share with us so maybe we should have you presenting sometime soon and your health secrets you know since you have graduated i see you know you're looking healthy and bright and smiling you know broader much much to smile about pastor much to smile about god be praised yes yes it's interesting uh coming uh coming out of this uh program uh pretty much every point that you made i had in my notes because they they made such a profound impact on me as well i just like to add uh to the ones you shared as it relates to the the uh health ministers directed with iv dr fran genius who pointed out that you know jesus had a ministry of healing and uh he emphasized the fact that his uh jesus healing was internal as it relates to forgiving sin and also external healing our bodies he had a comprehensive health ministry and likewise we too as the seventh adventist church should emphasize this comprehensive health ministry and another point uh that stood out to me was god doesn't just want to heal us but he wants us to not get sick i i think that is powerful that that is powerful yes and that's biblical you know and when you look at it you know when god made man you know when god made everything he said very good that is inclusive of us very good so we health is a gift from god and and you know it's god's plan for us to live forever and ever and heaven will be a healthy place so we have to begin to practice from now what we'll be doing up there so we need to be practicing and of course up there will not have motor vehicles so we'll be walking around and eating good fruits etc and stuff that god has for us so we have to practice now and my mother always say that practice becomes perfect so what you're going to be you're becoming so it's important for us to begin to practice get up and get going begin to think right and and that is performed that god wants us not to get sick and and he wants us to experience uh longevity and that's what the health message is about of course you know uh because of the fact that we're living in a sinful world a sinful environment you know we know that we'll not be able to to to have certain thing that we would like to have but we use what we have and have the best mindset at the onset that at the end we can say like david david said it you know david expressed himself he said bless the lord o my soul and all that is within me bless his holy name who forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases including mental challenges david expressed himself and we too need to praise the lord some more because that will help us to to be healthier because the happy hormones the endorphins will flow and you know when we smile it does something for us and when we smile like lincoln having that broad manchester smile it does something for us so i i got that smile from you know so i'm going to smile amen yes at this time i think it's appropriate uh pastor to just begin to to thank all the participants i'm going to allow you to go first and uh to to thank those uh on the jamu side of the fence to find their parts my administrators uh president secretary treasurer directors and other colleagues who have prayed for this program and password in particular you know wanted to see this program come to fruition because health is holistic and we try to balance the equation the church believes folks should should make intelligent decisions for immunization and to make choices as relates to having good immunity and of course we believe that immunities good immunity is more than immunization the church embraces and encourages individuals to to to be properly immunized you know and we should make that intelligent choice but moreover the church teaches that we should embrace a healthy lifestyle that we haven't given that message for many years and we need to do that embrace share as we embrace so i thank the team at jamu the conference health directors and i thank the team at northern carbon university sister smith janet smith you dr edwards and all the others who make this evening a possibility and of course christoph williams who works behind the scenes the engineer of the program this evening it's not easy to run these programs and he has done very well we thank him and doctors chung and brown earl and dr ginas from iad and i thank you lincoln for being here and having that healthy smile and that healthy look and all the others what participated the testimonies etc everything makes this evening a powerful one and of course pastor fraser always says the biggest room is the room for improvement so god bless you thank you so much thank our viewers for joining us and tomorrow evening we move to northeast to make a conference when we look at eating well and eating on time you can't afford to miss tomorrow evening rain are
