hello everyone welcome back to Risa does makeup in today's video I'm going to be sharing with you tips and recommendations for keeping your hair as healthy as possible when using the Revlon volumizing styler I have been singing the praises of this hair tool for months I first talked about it last fall and a favorites video and then shortly thereafter I did a demo because a lot of you were asking me how I actually used the styler a couple months after I uploaded that review and demo I did get a phone call from my sister and she told me that her hairdresser had mentioned to her that her hair seemed a lot more damaged I should mention that my sister picked up the blow-dryer after she heard me raving about it ad nauseam on all of my social media so she went and picked one up and then a couple months later her stylist told her that she felt like her hair was more damaged so I decided I was going to ask my hairdresser if she felt like my hair was more damaged I didn't notice anything different I felt like my hair was still looking pretty healthy I do know that the dryer I did feel like the dryer got very very hot it does get very very hot so I asked my hairdresser if she thought my hair was more damaged and she said no she said that she felt like my hair was actually still pretty healthy and she wasn't seeing much breakage so I decided to do some research to figure out if this really was a problem if people were experiencing a lot of damage and I have been hearing that some people definitely most of only are so I have changed a few things in the way that I use this tool then from what then the different from what I showed in that original demo so I'm gonna run through all of those slight changes that I made in order to keep my hair healthy because I love love of this tool I have had good hair days ever since I started using it this definitely gives me the same results that I can get from a salon in the past I've always used just a traditional blow-dryer and round brush but that was very time-consuming and results didn't last but with this tool it was a total game changer for me I can get that salon quality blow dry at home and the results last let's jump right into my tips and recommendations for keeping your hair healthy while using this hair tool so the first way I protect my hair is in the shower I use a really really high quality bond repairing shampoo and conditioner I have been using the olaplex step 4 and 5 shampoo and conditioner for about six months now ivory purchased the products I repurchase the conditioner once it's really highly concentrated the shampoo is very very highly concentrated and like a lot of people I go through conditioner a lot faster but I'm still on my first bottle of the shampoo and I've had it for many many months and I just love it I feel like it truly does what it says it's reparative but it doesn't weigh my hair down now it might be too much for someone with thin fine hair but I suggest giving it a try I have honestly never been this happy with a shampoo and conditioner before I know that every hair stylist out there will agree with me that using salon quality shampoos and conditioners are extremely important if you want to keep your hair healthy especially if you color which a lot of us do so I highly recommend investing in a good shampoo and conditioner whether it's this one or a different one I know a lot of people like prompt urology or Ryoji oh there's a lot of great lines on the market I happen to really love the olaplex because it does repair or help to repair the bonds of the hair which get broken down from heat styling and coloring so my next recommendation is something that I actually did not do in my demo but I'm doing it now and it's actually what I suggested that my sister do as well when she was telling me she was experiencing the breakage I will now rough dry my hair in the demo I basically took it from very very wet I started with very very wet hair it wasn't right out of the shower damp because I do you is a twisty turban hair drying towel while I do my makeup so my hair isn't like soaking wet but now I rough dry it I take my regular hair dryer and I just rough dry my hair until it's about I would say 80% dry 80 to 90 percent dry and then I will go in and use the styler but before I do that and this is another really important step you want to make sure that you are using a heat protectant I'm also now doubling up on my heat protectant the one I use before I put any heat to my hair before I even do the rough drying this is the orb a straight away smoothing blow out cream now this is a pretty pricy product you don't you don't have to use the exact products that I am presenting to you here today but you just want to use something that is going to protect your hair from the heat so this is a cream and then once the rough dry is completed and as I said my hair is about 80 to 90 percent dry then I'll go in with this living proof instant restore weightless heat and UV protection spray so this is the cream that goes in first then I do the rough dry and then I take this and I spray it throughout my hair as another layer of heat protection that's not going to add any extra weight because often times when you use too many products especially cream or oil products they can have a tendency to weigh your hair down so you don't want that so I recommend a creamer and oil heat protectant first and then some sort of spray the other thing that's really really important is sectioning the hair and what I mean by that is you take sections of the hair lift it up and clip it and then start working one section at a time I do the nape of the neck first and then I release and then I go above my ears and then I do this section and then I go around my temples like so and then I do this section and then I do this section last which if you want to see all of that I will link the video to the demo and you want to section your hair so that you're not haphazardly just taking sections and possibly going over the same one too many times where you're gonna have more potential for heat damage because you're going over that section with this high heat now speaking of the high heat this does get very hot and what a lot of people said in the comments of my demo was that they like to use it on low believe me I wish I could use it on low I have tried it on low it just does not work for me my hair is too curly and coarse for it to work on low but if it works for you if you have more fine hair not quite as coarse and you can use it on low that's fantastic using the least amount of heat that will work for your hair is best I would never dispute that but unfortunately the low heat setting does not work for me so this video is going to be for those of you that like myself need it on high to work so we've talked about heat protection we talked about sectioning we've talked about rough drawing I just have a couple more suggestions for you one that you use a good hair oil on the ends I personally use and love the way hair oil but I've also used the hairdressers and visible oil from bumble and bumble in the past just any lightweight protective hair oil that will seal the ends and help to keep the hair shaft healthy and finally I try to only blow-dry my hair once or maybe twice a week because the results of this blowout are so long-lasting I could get away with that would where I never could before when I would round brush my hair with the traditional dryer and I would have to do it two to three times a week maybe even four now I just blow out my hair one maybe two times a week that doesn't mean I only wash my hair one or two times a week I typically wash it three times a week but if I wash it maybe on a Sunday I won't blow dry it at all until I have you know I'm filming or have some sort of event where I need a good blowout but I will try to limit my blow-drying using this styler to once or twice a week so there you have it those are my recommendations for keeping your hair healthy and breakage free one using the Revlon and volumizing styler I know a lot of us are addicted to this tool we love it so much and if you've been noticing that your hair has become more damaged since using this tool I really hope that you will try my suggestions my recommendations and hopefully that will help you
