hi everyone welcome back I am so excited to be showing you how I finally learned to get a salon quality blowout at home on my curly frizzy hard to manage hair without using a flat iron so if you're interested in seeing exactly how I achieved this straight sleek yet voluminous and healthy-looking blow-dry at home then please keep on watching a couple of weeks ago I was doing what many of you are doing right now just watching YouTube and I stumbled upon a video and the Creator I cannot remember who it was and I tried to search my history to figure out who it was she was talking about this brush from Revlon this volumizing hair dryer brush now let me start right off the bat by saying this video is not sponsored Revlon doesn't paying me to say this as a matter of fact I saw that video I was intrigued by the dryer but my first thought was that will never work on me I have tried other hair dryer brushes in the past I have tried every blow dryer on the market every round brush on the market well that's not sure I have not tried the Dyson I have not invested in the Dyson but I have heard from my own hairstylist and other hair stylists that it really isn't the greatest for trying to blow out naturally curly hair I don't have super thick curly hair that makes ringlets when it's air dried my hair is it's I have a lot of hair but it's fine and it's thinning out as I get older and if I let my hair air dry it kind of has tight ringlets down here but then waves over here and it's really frizzy and no matter what product I have used and trust me I have looked air dry creams whatever product says that it will give you beautiful curls when you're naturally curly hair is air dried has not worked my hair does not look beautiful air dried you just have to trust me on that so I have always been to take a big round brush a hairdryer with the nozzle and just round brush the heck out of my hair to get it to look the way it does now but then what I would have to do when I was done round brushing is I would have to go over to my flat iron and take that around my hairline where I would get some colics and then I would also run it through the whole length of my hair to get it to be really smooth to take down that last bit of frizz but what would happen sometimes when I would do that is that the flutter and would pull some of the volume out now I'm not someone who likes really big voluminous Jennifer Aniston circa 1995 hair I like some volume but I don't want it to be you know super huge but you can achieve that look with this brush so as I was saying when I saw another youtuber use this I was intrigued I thought I'll go try it I had a 20% off coupon it Ulta and it wasn't crazy expensive at $60 and then less twenty was a pretty good deal I would even at this point I would pay full price for this this is so worth it in my opinion so I went ahead and made my purchase and as I was taking it out of the box and you're taking out the plastic and then unwrapping all the little ties that it has here there and everywhere I was thinking wow this is going to be such a pain to have to put back together when I return this so I mean I really I had it in my head that this was not gonna work I thought this is gonna go back I have no doubt in my mind so I started to use it and after the first use I was hooked I could not believe how straight this dryer got my hair it was unbelievable and I have used it now five times the demo will have been the fourth time that I used it I think I'd get better every single time that I use it before the demo gets started I just want to apologize I thought I was recording the first part of the video video where I sectioned off some hair at the nape and I start drawing it wasn't recording I was so frustrated but I didn't I decided not to start over and I just started with that hair sectioned at the nape and you'll see the motion that I go through to do that bottom section and then you'll see me take down the other sections and the way my hair texture looks and all that good stuff so just the very first minute or so of the video was cut off but I think you'll still find the demo extremely helpful so first part in the facial expressions as I mentioned I wasn't recording when I dried these four sections of hair but you can still see that I sectioned it off when I grab about a four to five inch section place the brush behind it and begin to rotate the brush and slowly bring it down the length of the section then I do the same thing on the other side rotate and slowly pull down the brush then I take down my hair you can sort of see the curly texture of it here then using my fingers I grab the next section of hair starting from my temples and securing it once again with a clip [Music] then I grab another section by my ears and do the same thing I try to get as close to the root of my hair as I can but the Strider does get very hot so you have to be careful not to burn your scalp sometimes I will do one rotation of the brush sometimes two or more it depends on how long the section is and then I will go back over sections that I don't feel that quite smooth enough so I do the same thing around the entire circumference of my head now as you can see I am very happy with how it's looking here you can kind of see my natural hair texture and just how poorly I sectioned my hair now I'm doing the same motions on the other side [Music] [Music] then I take down the top part of my hair and I section off about three to four inches in the front and bring that piece forward then I place the brush underneath that section and roll it forward towards the ground [Music] then I continue to do that to several sections along the front of my head [Music] [Music] then I push those sections out of the way and begin to grab the pieces by my temples which tend to be very curly and again I'm trying to get as close to the root as possible [Music] and then for the top back sections where I want more volume I grab the hair upward towards the ceiling place the brush behind the hair and turn the brush toward the wall behind me oh my gosh the lighting in here is so bad it makes the bags under my eyes look ten times worse now I just go back to any sections that I feel need a little bit more smoothing [Music] and now I am really happy as usual with the results so next I take a bit of the way Matt pomade I mix it with a little bit of hair oil rub it between my fingers and palms really really well and then I rake it through my hair starting underneath and making sure to really get the hairline and the ends and voila all done now I want to try to answer some of the questions that you might have regarding the dryer itself first of all it's not heavy it is so much lighter and less cumbersome than trying to hold up a hair dryer and a round brush at the same time that can get very tiring and I also find that when I do a round brush and hair dryer technique and then I sleep on it the next morning my hair is not that sleep when I wake up I have to go back with my hair dryer and round brush and smooth out many of the areas that I had just smooth straightened the day before and that's definitely more damaging to the hair you want to use your hair dryer as little as possible if you're trying to have healthy hair to grow your hair or if your hair is highlighted like mine the less heat damaged the better so having to do that was really frustrating I never had to do that when I would get a blow at the salon my hair would be fine the next day it would look perfect and now it does I can go to bed with this hair and wake up with this hair a couple of other points I want to touch on are one the dryer does get very hot it's no different though than a round brush our hair dryer where I would go in and touch my hair right after I did a section it would feel very hot almost like when you touch your hands to the end of a frying pan or something where you're just oh that's hot so if this feels the same way it does get quite hot there are a couple of heat settings there's well there's cool low and high I have not tried the low setting I went right for the high because my hair is more coarse and curly I did use the cool shot once I I'm not really big on the cool shot button I I know some people really like to have that it's not that important to me I like that this little dial is easy to turn but it's not so easy to turn that while you're drying your hair you accidentally shift it to low or off or something like that I know I've tried other styling tools before where the off on-off button or the heat settings are in a really bad place and you start to press them inadvertently when you're styling your hair which is kind of annoying so the other thing is that it's it is large it's a large brush so I have you know just longer than shoulder length hair my hair is finally growing and I just not sure that this is gonna work on somebody with shorter hair just because the brush is so big Revlon needs to come out with a smaller version of this for people with shorter hair I could be wrong I mean maybe I should give it to my mom who assured her hair to try it but just looking at the size of the brush you know when you dry your hair or when you're at the salon and your stylist is round brushing your hair to get it smooth or straight they usually use smaller brushes for shorter hair at least that's been my experience so I'm not sure how that would work as I said on someone with shorter hair but if your hair is two here or longer I think you are going to love it alright I hope that answered all of your questions about how I get a salon quality blow dry at home and about the Revlon volumizing hair dryer in particular if I didn't answer your question
