so my drill is stuck i uh i can get the truck to move in the forward direction to tighten it but i i can't get it to untighten leaving my hole saw bit stuck in here have you guys ever had this happen before [Music] we will worry about that drill problem a little later but for now welcome back to the homestead and another exciting episode at the everything garage so we took a little bit of a family vacation got away for the end of summer down to alberta's badlands but now it's time to get back to work and today we're going to be working on putting trim around these windows and [Music] doors [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] oh so for all the trim work on this garage i'm going to be using basically a pvc or a vinyl trim now i'll put it up close it's got kind of a texture you see there to make it look like a wood grain but the nice thing about this is it lasts more or less indefinitely as long as it's not getting you know whacked and hacked and beaten up but the weather doesn't tear this apart like it does natural wood siding and the best part is the holes can be filled it can be painted and treated just like wood but it'll last a lot longer without the same maintenance [Music] [Music] so i'm only putting a few nails and i think i put four or five down that whole board um just in the beginning and then once i get the second piece on the face here i can make sure my corners are nice and tight and then i'll go in and fill it in with a few more nails so by doing it this way i wind up with a nice tight seam all the way along [Music] so even though i know my roof is a 612 pitch which tells me my angle ahead of time i still like to verify that miter cut for the trim after my soffits and all that have been done just in case it's a little different and i just picked this guy up it's a steroid or or star at angle or miter gauge miter finder and it works really well it gives you both single and double cuts on there and it's handy in order to completely finish off this corner and get a nice flush edge like i have with the rest of the corners on the garage i need to cut a little bit of a notch out of the top to accommodate that bird box for the soffits we built earlier [Music] so [Music] ah [Music] and that is the four corners of the garage finished uh it's lunch time [Music] kids man putting empty pizza boxes back in the fridge i'm glad they left me some though alrighty so after lunch here all the corners done like i said and it's time to move on to the actual trim that's gonna be around the windows those windows around the door all of that we're using the same product all this time it's a little bit thinner [Music] so if you guys remember back in the beginning of the series uh in our planning and design video and if you don't remember don't worry i will link it up in one of those two corners and as well down in the description below but i talked about wanting all of my windows to be in a nice line together all the way across the top of the garage and what this did is a it made it so no one could walk up and easily look inside them and b it allowed me to put a window above my door by having this window now at the height above the door it allows me to take a really simple and inexpensive steel door just like this one here and give it an elevated look with that window above had i ordered these two as a full transom window unit with a door it probably would have cost double or triple what i paid for these separately [Music] you
