place giving endless options to any food lover my journey into Malaysia's capital Kuala Lumpur marks my first foodie mission into this country today he is gonna show me the secret behind it the perfect nasi lemak over this for video Kuala Lumpur series you'll see some toe-curling Lee good Malay Street food let me mic up this bread I'll get some insider meal suggestions from local drivers at Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman feels like this is a dope place to pick up a dress and a knockoff iPhone charger but after all that shopping it's time to eat this is kind of a hidden gem this place is awesome it's huge there's tons of food tonight Amira will show me some of the best and most unique food this market has to offer let's go see things [Music] and it's very like a flea market yes it is it's pretty much like that and people get hungry when they shop I'm more interested in the food than anything else yes we just end up buying like bang a lot of food so I want to try all kinds of Malaysian to LA all right that is want to play Malaysian food this one over here yep so I've seen this already a few times I saw like a palm leaf OC OC token and a sign it's a hidden present I think you do know what's inside yeah I mean for you for me yeah are you as a mystery Oh top is a grilled fish cake made of ground fish meat mixed with tapioca starch and spices I can add a little bit of spice like just like a little bit of spice this particular reddish orange Oh talk gets his color from chilli turmeric and curry powder cool lot of spices it's really good no not spicy okay it's really meaty yeah guys a lot of seasoning I can't just like wait at my table for 10 minutes with no I need something they're quite inexpensive 80 cent for what yeah I just want one win yet yeah you're right refreshing okay I'll try it so what is in this it's coconut palm should get the black ones palm sugar and then a green one I'm not sure what oh come on yeah a lot of pressure right now literally always we have our fabulous kind of dessert it's a sweet drink and we're gonna mix it yes if you do too much it'll turn the butter I love it what are the chunks yeah it's so chewy I love it I've never had it to a drink of this much I don't usually chew my drinks get on the same very rich I got a very strong coconut flavor the superstar in this drink is is the chewy right thank you yeah that's addictive if you don't mind how do you say delicious shut up shut up shut up yep the Latian reminds me of going to a food court and then you can have a little bit of everything yeah you don't have to it's not fishy but the best part is just how its kind of crunchy and cushiony at the same time like me and can you imagine yourself like walking and then getting in and then dipping it yeah and I'm wondering where they all went [Music] that fruits one of my favorite fruits this man right here he's offering you like Oh about that thick he's taking this fruit to the next level and he's frying it I love it I've never had fried jackfruit jackfruit is one of my favorite fruits in Southeast Asia extracting the fruit is a rather laborious process but the price is worth it this one is banana that's a normal banana that's not normal it's gigantic I've never seen a banana that big can I pick up that one oh my god I've never seen bananas this big ridiculous so they're gonna they slice these up and then they fry these two so why don't we get some fried banana some fried jackfruit and that those do is good can we try it out right here yes you know the giant banana do you want to grab one till you know the proper name of that and you could also just call it giant banana that's what I do it's right up [Music] however they're really crunchy sweet yeah the salt on the outside bringing out the sweetness on the inside the best part is actually all the problems krispies look at all those that's all the jackfruit I noticed all the jackfruit one is sold out and we're back she has very graciously given us a whole fistful of the banana crunchies yeah it's like we're not you french fries I like the little over is real these are not special sound effects we have not sweeten this audio now we also have jackfruit each jackfruit pod has a large seed inside but tonight they're battering and frying up piping hot jackfruit pods with the seed still intact when you frying up like this it has a stinging kind of smell it almost becomes a little like that durian smell [Laughter] that is so good I've never had anything like that okay I'm gonna try to get that seed out of there and look at that I just have this beautiful crunchy vessel our gooey fried jackfruit in there coming up yeah this steam is just pouring off of there I saw last week he had a jackfruit that was thirty three kilograms wow that's a big deal do you usually eat these when they're super hot still no no sorry oh yeah okay amazing setup yeah setup I am loving it here we're continuing on our amazing food journey in this market it laughs up once a week and you got to get here because they have stuff like what what is this I've no idea this one is called Baba so this is a chicken farm in there she tosses the don't kind of almost like a pizza but not exactly around seems like it would be really messy how does it not go all over you it looks like a big sandwich or like a chicken potpie put in a wrapper murtabak comes from the Arabic word meaning folded this savory pan fried stuffed pancake gets a scoop of filling containing egg minced meat green onion and spices and it looks really good and then she's gonna wrap it up like a Christmas gift Oh merry Christmas to me after a few minutes our folded masterpiece is finally cool enough to eat and so the inside the feeling actually kind of solidified so I got I thought it'd be spilling out like gooey [Music] that blew my socks off I was not expecting that it's so meaty like a meatloaf almost how does this fit into your life at night fasting yeah
