I'm in Santo Domingo the capital of the Dominican Republic and it's been raining on and off and I am at the station of chole which is written gaole and we are going to take the uh they call it a very very cool it's the Metro cable so we're going to take that now I'm gonna go inside I have to put my face mask on we're going to get inside buy a ticket and take the metro cable and then hop off at one of the one of the Barrios there and see what we can find let's go what is this door hola buenos dias hola products we got the ticket here it is so it's one way there one way back oh there we go that's not a let's not be late you and we got it all for ourselves nice we got it all for ourselves all right so um this is apparently the most dangerous area of the Dominican Republic the area that is situated on the Osama river which you'll see in a second this thing hurries up but yeah it's my second day here and so far I've really enjoyed it I'm staying by the colonial Center the Colonial area which is like the tourist area and I wanted to get out today so I did a little bit of research where I can go that's interesting to try some traditional food and drink whoa all right so we take it off here we go guys this is it I'm not gonna wear this thing inside yeah wow this is I love these things but ever since I went on the one in Medellin I I was like addicted I was like damn I need to find one in every city that I go to check this out so yeah as I was saying people warn you obviously not to go here because it is the more Lower Class part of the city well that sounds wrong I don't like saying it's lower class because usually the people from these areas have more class than the only rich people so I don't know I'll just say it's the poorer area check it out I'm not a social justice Warrior or anything but it's the truth well there's the river okay so I was the taxi driver am I gonna make it alive out of here and all he did was laugh so that was uh yeah I don't know what that meant it was cool so far it's hot as hell man it is hot as hell this place is so humid um and it's always this thing beeping like that that's creeping me up it's always raining on and off um yeah so that's quite quite irritating it's been raining on and off today and yesterday I arrived yesterday in the afternoon and uh yeah it hasn't stopped raining on enough check it out here's the river oh there's kids swimming in that pool down there I don't know if you can see it whoa you see a shouting check that out ah it's like a little pool oh cool kids having fun check out the river damn super polluted as you would expect and I did not expect that you would find a barrier this big and this intense here in Dominican Republic I really because when you hear of Dominican Republics you hear of beaches and Resorts and all touristic areas tourist areas and uh you really do not get to see this side of it I mean even when you Google like bad areas of Santo Domingo or Dominican Republic you don't really you don't really see this this is a this is way different than what I expected oh man wow but damn this is a cool uh cool Metro cable here they call it a telepherico teleferico that's the word telephotico telefedica I don't know but yeah so that was the first station that was closest to me and we're gonna take three more so four in total um you can see the other cable cars there's a lot and it's fast hopefully we don't get stuck and it's pretty empty as well I mean if you look in the other ones it's empty that's empty there's like two people in that one all right we have reached the end station as you guys can see let's get out and have some beers or get something to eat or get a haircut who knows let's go stop so I think I think what we're gonna do if I follow the Metro table there there's a point of Direction and then uh let's see what we can get let's go okay so if you guys don't know kill okay it's kind of like a what's up here and I'm used to saying [Applause] oh my God see what it's about yellow again let's go let's go well man so far the people have been awesome let's put it that way I don't feel I don't feel like I am in danger or that it's dodgy yes people are living in lower conditions than normal but uh the people sing really cool okay you know I don't want to downplay the things that happened here or could happen here because uh of course you hear the stories and they are true that stuff stuff does go on you know it does happen but yeah you can come here they're laughing let's go on hold on I need to stop saying Kim us let's get okay I don't even know what this area is called but I know that the the train station or the Metro cable is called teleferica Santo Domingo there's Santo Domingo so that's where we are but I don't know what the barrier here is called um [Music] yeah obviously as you guys would probably know there are a lot of Haitians Haitians I don't know how you would pronounce it people from Haiti Haiti that fled here that came over here uh due to the 2010 earthquake and that whole disaster that happened then um so a lot of them came over here to seek a better life and that's why when you walk on the streets you'll see a lot of people speaking French or not a lot but you'll see it and you'll see a lot of Haitians and uh yeah it's it's crazy how people have to leave their homes people have to leave their homes to seek a better life like in many parts of the world it is what it is there's a Metro cable again we missed our chance we're going to go along here um yeah but there is they say from six hundred thousand to a million Haitians living here in Dominican Republic and I suppose the majority of them live here in the capital Santo Domingo let's see wow whoa my God those guys uh those guys those guys uh whoa those guys went like this to me so obviously not a not everyone is friendly as you would imagine I mean whoa everything is all burglar board up damn I hope we're not coming into some gang Street here or anything that would suck yeah okay let's get the hell out of the streets it's quiet and it's big expensive cars everywhere that usually means one thing so let's get out of here tomorrow I see okay uh Kurt what's your name Jesus nice to meet you Jesus well we met him in person finally after all this time we have met Jesus in the form of a little kid here in the body of Santo Domingo there's a big street over there oh ice cream ice cream see [Applause] Domingo que Bueno ah it's over here ah you have all this Choco Choco uh tienes [Music] yeah [Applause] let's give this a go strawberry flavored ice cream or Santo Domingo it's hot as hell almost dropped it Jesus okay no weird Vibes but wow that's delicious all right guys we got an A Moto taxi here and we can we go to a or get hit by a car in the first place okay so he's taking me to the barbershop where he goes so I think it's going to be good driving all that way a barbershop over there it was a beauty salon yeah okay let's go we got ourselves a president you can't see it because we've got the paper around it which I'll take off when we sit down and uh Honey's got himself a Gatorade here so he's gonna wait for me with a bike I'm gonna get my haircut here and then we're gonna go back to the station and find something to eat around that area let's see okay this is the Presidente is let's give it a go let's
