Don't Enter This Hood In Peru! 🇵🇪

buenos dias from a beautiful sunny day here in lima peru and uh we are making our way up to the barrio of cerro san cristobal um as you can obviously tell it is one of lima's poor neighborhoods but as you probably already know kurt doesn't discriminate and we love going into places like this so we are here to try some real peruvian food i heard there is a dish that consists of cow heart so if we can we're going to go and try that and whatever else um yeah let's go check it out i want to speak to some people i want to see how the people of this barrio live and i'm excited i was told by two taxi drivers on my way here i tried to catch a ride with them they refused to take me here they were like it's too dangerous you can't go there alone um and then finally the third taxi driver was like yeah whatever so we're here now hey the people seem friendlier so far um i've only had good vibes up until now well so far there's a lot of like uh political signs everywhere i don't know what that's about but apparently this is the way to get to the top of the mountain and there is a cross on the top that i would also like to see maybe we can see it from here but i'd really like to get to the top and see the view of lima check out this church it's beautiful and there's a whole bunch of tuk-tuks here so if i do get tired hola if i do get tired i could uh i could always ask them to take me up but we're going to walk for now and maybe we can catch a tuk-tuk right down or something like that so um so far the mask rules here in lima are absolutely ridiculous it's the strongest and strictest milestones i've ever had in any country that i've been to in the last couple of months actually people tell you from the taxi windows buenos dias ah camera okay so that guy just told me to be careful and the thing is a whole bunch of people tell you to be careful when you come into this neighborhood every country i've been here in south america hola they've told me to be careful and i've never had any problems except one time in medellin a guy pulled a knife on me but that wasn't because he tried to rob me and then also someone tried to pick my pickpocket me but that wasn't too bad at all wow oh probably wondering why i'm huffing and puffing it's cause look at this damn hill it's very steep hola see people are people are nice so far no no worries luego wow people here are nice they uh they see the gringo and they start talking to him i like that it's uh it's really nice will change what's happening here this is actually the safest and most relaxed i've felt in any south american country i spent two months in medellin and it was beautiful i love medellin but this just feels much more relaxed and there to be honest um yeah oh street doggos ah everyone says okay okay the little dogs don't like don't like the gringo oh let's see if we can make some doggie friends today wow this is getting harder and harder to get up um yeah i need to work on my fitness it's actually quite hard to work on your fitness when traveling a lot like this because you can't really settle down and go to gym all the time but that's actually what i was doing in medellin but i never do cardio because i'm a lazy [ __ ] um all right there's some graffiti on the wall here um [Music] oh look at this view as you guys heard um that is about the fifth time now that i've been told to watch out because they're gonna rob me um makes it always spikes the adrenaline levels a little bit wow check out this view this mountains here this really doesn't doesn't look like anywhere else i've been to in south america or latin america feels like i'm in afghanistan or something wow um so yeah when people tell you be careful they kind of install fear into you although they're trying to help it is still still a little creepy i thought it was vladimir putin peruvian vladimir putin the chubby version okay now it is starting to smell a little bit bad um so this body over here was basically built by the immigrants from out of town from the surrounding villages and towns because they came here for work and they built up these barrios illegally and what the government did is they they built a wall of shame while the government i think the government and along with the community the more um fancy community from the other side of the mountain they got together and built a wall a wall of shame to divide the barrio the ghetto from the more upper class neighborhood so far these beautiful plants here um yeah i mean so far it seems all right usually when it's quiet like this it's uh it's a little sketchy from my experience when there's a lot of people on the road you're more fine but curtis is going to go anyways because we don't discriminate the things i do for youtube content well i'm just getting robbed risk getting shot just getting kidnapped all of that we don't care it's all for you guys wow look at that view it's a tennis court down there okay ah i'm so tired if there's someone in this tuk tuk i'm gonna take him because i'm absolutely broken exhausted [Music] see foreign [Music] i think this is the fastest this machine can go here we're going about walking speed once again it's the second time i've had people ask me for a selfie since i've been here just before i started filming as i got out the taxi um two goals were like let me take a photo i thought that was really funny i don't think i don't think a lot of pringles are huh [Music] is talk to drivers get on the phone because you never know what they're getting up to you never know but is okay [Music] yes ah nice very interesting handle ah i like it so it's surfing wow guys check out this view wow this is a huge city over there where all the misters and the clouds and the fog is where i'm actually staying right now with stefan um i'm surprised that we can't actually see the sea from here but i suppose it's because we are in the center of lima i don't even know which direction the sea is i'm assuming it's that way but yeah wow as you guys can see it is definitely different to other cities that i've been to check out this cross cross of jesus christ himself holla buenas comes is [Music] it is not my favorite beer here in lima or in peru because it tastes like a heineken and i've noticed that beers out of a green bottle not my favorite i prefer beers out of a brown bottle like aguila look at this view it is phenomenal you don't really want to lean on these wooden things here go tumbling down there to someone's house oh man it's a lot of stairs is okay okay that is very creepy he said i must put away my so uh yeah that guy that guy really spooked me out with his uh tips here to get away because he said people are gonna rob me wow but it doesn't feel like it you know it's very empty and this would be the perfect place to rub me oh yeah yeah yeah i see what he means oh my god street dogs it's okay it's okay oh it's okay it's okay but you've never seen now why do you before what's wrong with you jesus some of these dogs are really racist oh oh the dog's coming to check me out here oh please don't bite my ankles oh the dogs of lima are not too not too friendly [Music] wow jesus these dogs are not the friendliest of dogs okay there's no food up here which is actually a little bit disappointing because i wanted to eat some cowhead or at least try it let's see all right so we just walked all the way from the top there down here and uh there's like no one on the streets usually that's a sign that stuff is a little bit dodgy or everyone's at church but it's a it's a thursday afternoon i don't think people go to church on thursdays let's see if we can get to a main road or somewhere where there is more restaurants because i really want to try some food some local peruvian food that's my goal damn this is like a maze i feel like i can't get out of here it's a lot of dog [ __ ] everywhere so you have to watch your step check that no one's following you let's go down here this looks good okay so this is getting a little bit boring um i haven't been robbed yet i haven't had any strange characters come up to me but it has been a hell of a workout oh my legs are getting tight from the stairs okay let's go look for some food we made it out of the hill because obviously there's no food up there and we're gonna go look for food now hold up [Music] thanks so much have a good day the streets here are super quiet and as you can see everything is pretty much closed up i don't know what the reason behind that is if it's because of the situation if it's because of the day and time or if it's because it's actually really dangerous as people say i really don't know but there's a much less happening than i expected um let's go see what food we can find we are seems like we are back on one of the main parts here hopefully there's some restaurants around here
