Speaking as an American, I’m not sure everyone understands how much negative publicity this kind of thing brings.

I’m not just talking about videos like this, but people who come back home and tell their family and friends about their experiences.

The Pyramids and crawling with scammers, and you can’t walk a single block in Luxor without someone following you around trying to sell you something.

I understand that they’re just trying to make a living and it didn’t bother me personally, but some people are genuinely scared by this sort of behavior. It’s strange to me how the country puts so much money and effort into increasing tourism, but allows this stuff to continue. It’s undercutting all their efforts.
