hello indie game fans october kicks off with a number of huge games coming out so in between far cry 6 metroid dread ellen wake remastered and super monkey ball banana mania it's no coincidence that indie developers are little gun shy this week so we do have a smaller than usual lot of indie games but fortune favors the boat so let's see which developers have taken up that challenge in this edition of indie gaming this week [Music] let's begin with cooking companions one of the cutest games on the surface being a visual novel title centered around cooking however fair warning is not a spoiler since the developer put it in the description that this is a horror visual novel with some dark and disturbing themes so perhaps along the lines of doki doki literature club [Music] set in the remote woods of a mountain range where food supplies are running low and flood waters are rising find a way to manage and survive with talks of buttering someone up or winding up on the chopping block metaphors of course but can be quite disturbing if taken literally making this a title of interest [Music] for tycoon game fans the game that caught my eye this week is hotel magnate where you are of course running your own hospitality establishment from a dingy motel to 5 star resorts having an impressive array of customization options and furniture decorations and even colors chosen [Music] again i don't expect to be tremendously surprised by what this game has to offer but it looks like a really well made entry in the space [Music] [Applause] do note that this will be released in early access as is the case for many tycoon games these days so let's see how it progresses [Music] i remember covering the prologue demo of knight reverie quite a while back but the final release will be out this week this is a puzzle adventure game where you play as a little child exploring your own home where reality has been distorted [Music] but there is the potential for this to be a horror game i don't think that is that sort of game focusing more on the mystery aspect but the great look makes it of interest to adventure game fans [Music] [Music] i'm very curious about missed legacy since this is a free to play mmorpg but rather than being like world of warcraft this has full-on turn-based rpg combat traversal in the overworld map where you are represented by just an icon and quite a decent look so listen to the developer to hear about the features miss legacy offers you a different way to play a massively multi-player online game with a pace that lets you focus on the adventure play your character as you would in a tabletop role-playing game minding about the world the rules the monsters and the challenges that the game proposes fight in a classical turn-based combat system where you can build your own fighting style with a combination of gears and abilities learn about your enemies weakness to develop combat strategies that can be both single and multi-players [Music] recruit non-player characters to control a party when you want to play alone and fight bosses balanced for multiplayer combats when your friends are online visit the vast realm of myriad den and its many cities forests swamps mountains and more discover the deep history of the inhabitants of the land and grow your reputation with the many factions and rulers [Music] most of all you'll have to uncover the mysteries of the magical mists that have trapped hometown [Music] to harvest resources you'll have to raise your skills craft your tools find weapons to survive the danger and even get clothes that will allow you to endure the weather craft items with a unique skill distributed crafting system where property of material is morphed in final item skills [Music] craft many things with anything it's up to you to optimize the results learn how to distribute resources properties to final usable gears vehicles and even whole buildings [Music] with great sorrow i pass this duty on to you do not be afraid as i will guide you through i mentioned the lightbringer a little while back when talking about upcoming zelda style action adventure games where it will launch this week and looks pretty good [Music] play as the titular character who must cleanse the world of corruption guided on by his sister's spirit [Music] it looks fairly decent but might just be a little bit of a smaller game but in line with titles like ocean horn could end up being pretty neat lightbringer your story is about to begin do you have enough courage and light within bigger games of the week kicks off with age of darkness final stand a title that i just mentioned a couple of weeks ago but it got delayed by a couple of days not going to harp on this one but as a great looking survival basebuilder like they are billions making this a title of interest [Music] i am so very excited for nickelodeon all-star brawl a platform fighter like smash brothers but starring all your favorite nickelodeon characters [Music] without a doubt these characters were a part of many people's childhoods mine included so to see them in a great looking one of these is pretty exciting [Music] it comes to us from developer ludosity makers of little duel card city knight and most recently slapped city which probably landed them this project so the pedigree is there which makes it of interest [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] smaller games begins with best restaurant a very cute looking management title where you're making food for your customers but is actually set in the afterlife with some darker themes [Music] [Applause] the wobbly physics multiplayer brawler gang beasts makes its way to search but this is one of the most popular entries in the space for good reason where the multiplayer capabilities of the switch makes it an ideal platform [Music] [Music] this next title is for shooter mart fans where hell blasters looks like a very classically made one of these but where the gimmick is that you're able to blast away the bullet hell giving it somewhat of a different view [Music] my father was a maze man his father he was also a maze man his grandfather was a shoemaker just kidding he was a maze man too today i fulfill my destiny today i become the maze man the developer of maze men did reach out to me but this pixel art arcade action title looks pretty good and is designed like an arcade title actually coming to us from developer beautiful glitch who made monster prom so it's interesting to see them stretch their wings in another genre [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] a couple of demos of interest this week the first of which is mosaic hearts prototype looking to be a single player fighting game where you can recruit all defeated enemies looking like it could be neat [Music] peace death 2 self describes as a mid core 10 days logic game where you're playing as the grim reaper and have to decide if clients go to hell heaven or purgatory being the sequel to a game from 2017 with impressively 1800 steam reviews and a rating of very positive so let's see what's new in the sequel [Music] [Music] the second demo of the week is ship graveyard simulator prologue a first person simulator title where you're taking apart grounded vessels for scrap think of it as hard space ship breaker but with conventional ships and you get the idea [Music] slow living with the princess is a live sim shopkeeping entry that looks pretty alright we are running a shop having to farm fish and fight monsters to get the ingredients needed to make medicine and food selling these for profit as you aid your sister in defeating the demon lord it looks very similar to resetier and items shop's tail so if you enjoyed that game do give this a look [Music] [Music] the final demo of interest is sorcery prologue a fantastic looking action rogue light where you're wielding a spellbound blade combining the magical and the marshall in what looks like great action [Music] one of the charming games from last year is the last campfire coming to us from developer hello games of no man's sky fame coming to steam this week after being an epic exclusive [Music] [Music] there have been a number of relaxing building titles that simply allow you to chill out where zen world is the latest entry to do so this is very similar to the board game kakazoon or more recently doth romantic where you are simply placing towels on the map and building out the world i love that there are little people moving about on this map looking to be another relaxing experience [Music] so [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] as is the case every week i do think that the top five are pretty impressive so let's round things off with jack x a long in development puzzle action platformer where you play as an ex-building viking warrior platforming and fighting your way through the open world [Music] me being me of course i love the pixel art which is vibrant and lovely even having support for multiplayer which makes this a title of interest [Music] furthermore it comes to us from a filipino developer so southeast asia represents with a unique world inspired by both filipino and norse mythology [Music] [Music] this next title is a fascinating entry since jet the far shore is a cinematic narrative exploration title that comes to us from the og indie developers super brothers who made sword and sorcery 10 years ago and no games since then this is quite a difficult game to describe since you're flying around in a ship exploring planets and then zooms into first person exploring from the ground [Music] it's not a combat focused title where you're cataloging creatures and plants but do have to avoid conflict here and there very weird character designs but it looks like a real curiosity in the indie game space [Music] i had the steam launch of 3 on my list last week but the gameplay trailer was not available so i held off where this week the switch port launches so it's as good a time as any to jump in [Music] this is a sequel to tori 3d which released in april this year and made some headlines since it was essentially better than palan won the world which released in march and was just a dollar but the sequel is similarly priced and looks to be more of the same [Music] wonderful vibrant visuals as well making it of interest if you love 3d platformers [Music] one of the most impressive open-world turn-based rpgs is vargas the riven realms one that combines open world exploration and resource management like oregon trail darkest dungeon like turn-based positional combat with permadeath and a choose-your-own-adventure-style wrenching narrative play as the leader of a caravan exploring and finding a way to survive in this dark fantasy world torn asunder by the wrath of the elder gods which resulted in the post-apocalypse unlike genre norms yes the price is on the high side but this is a very dense text and content heavy multi-hour kind of experience with plenty of replayability making this worth a look where if you're on the fence about this do check out the free demo before making your decision the river realms they call it what a fine poetic name for something as rotten and twisted as our land has become terrible beings entered through the cracks in the tapestry of reality a rose to rule over the natives and the river realms now godless and vengeful reincarnated from the ashes many ventures specialize in transferring cargo and passengers over bleak and deadly leagues of land others try to take everything of value from said travelers or attempt to find buried treasures among the ruins of the old empire the leaders of the endeavors are some say the bravest men and women of the river realms such a leader is called a vagras what a profession daring and savvy always watching the horizon always looking for an opportunity and of course for what is best for his comitatus eh many of your kind have i seen in my long life as a vagabond tales of trusts betrayed bad decisions not a pretty story eh yet it speaks so well of this land and the damned souls that journey through its forsaken and you are a vagras too are you not here's the story about billy the quiet kid sailing at sea one morning while fishing the sky suddenly turns to grave and all the colors fade away i'm so very happy to share that rainbow billy the curse of the leviathan makes its launch a monster taming action-adventure platformer rpg that meshes together many of the genres that i love [Music] this got my attention due to the look of the characters of course drawing comparisons to cuphead we are trying to defeat the leviathan to bring colour back to the world [Applause] this game has transformed in development from a straightforward monster teaming rpg with a fishing element to having platforming and puzzles as well looking pretty well rounded with a wonderful core premise [Applause] i've been looking forward to this for quite a long time and as a special treat be sure to follow me on twitter details revealed soon taking the number one spot for more monster taming indie games watch these videos and i will see you after the jump rainbow billy the curse of the leviathan
