hello everyone in this video I'm going to show you how easy it has become in Unreal Engine 5.4 to add any animation that you find on the marketplace to your metahuman with a click and it's actually pretty awesome so let's just get right into it so here's my metahuman inside a basic level so this can be any metahuman and what I want to do is first show you how to add the ue5 mannequin animations to the metahuman so here I have the third person template so you can just add it to your project by going to add um add feature or content pack and you can choose third person and add it to your project and what you're going to end up is a folder structure like this and you're going to have a characters folder so you can go ahead and go to the characters folder and you should see mannequins and you can click on that and go into animations and you can choose Manu here and we can choose any animation that we want from here I'm going to specifically choose the idle one so what you want to do is you want to click on it and then right click go into retarget animations and you're going to be shown this screen right here so this is the source skeleton which is the mannequin and what we want to do is we want to retarget it to the a metahuman so I'm going to click on this uh drop down and I'm going to choose the meta my metahumans body which is this one right here and you can make sure that it's the right one because uh in the path as you can see here it's under meta human slf male short overweight body which is what my character is so I'm going to click on this and then I can choose the animation here again that I want to retarget so I'm going to go scroll down and look for the idle animation right here so I'm going to double click and you can see that the um this animation is retargeted to my metahuman and what I can do right now is I can click on export animations I'm going to click on that and it's going to ask me where it wants me where it wants to export it so I'm just going to choose my metahuman folder par and I'm going to create a new folder now you can put this anywhere but I just want to make it organized so I can show you a few other pieces as well so I'm going to choose the animations folder and I'm going to hit export and I'm going to press export again and now you can see that I have it looks like I accidentally put it in the previews folder but that's okay I can just drag it and move it into animations and move it here now I can use this animation on my metahuman so I'm going to click on my metahuman in the on this on the uh scene and if you look at the details panel you can click on the body and if you scroll down a little bit there is a animation mode I'm going to choose use animation asset and I'm going to choose this animation right here so I can just drag it and put it here and as you can see he immed immediately changed pose so if I hit play you'll see that he is in the idle State and you saw how easy it was to actually do that so that's how you do it with the ue5 mannequin but it actually goes way above that as well so you can what you can do is you can actually go on to mixo and get a animation from there or you can get it from anywhere really and what you what you can do is you can export it here so I have downloaded a animation from mixo so silly dancing and what I want to show you is how you can actually export that to your metahuman right so I'm going to create a new folder here and I'm going to call it mixo and what I want to do is I want to drag and drop the file that I downloaded onto this folder here and it's going to ask me um whether I want to import the skeletal mesh and the mesh which we're going to tick and the import animations is also ticked as well so we're going to hit import all and it will import to the animation from mixo you can ignore this error so once you have that you'll have the animation you can double click on it to make sure that the animation is working properly so what I want to do now is to export this and use it on my metahuman now before this existed in unreal 5.4 this was a pretty painful process but right now again you click on the animation you write click you go to retarget animations and you're going to choose your metahuman SC skeleton again and then you're going to choose the animation you want to export and then you click export animations you choose the folder you want to export to so again I'm going to try to this time do it properly put it in the animations folder and I'm going to hit export and Export and now you can see we had the idle animation and now we have the silly dancing animation so if I go into click on my metahuman again click on the body and instead of using the idle animation I'm going to drag and drop the silly dancing animation and if I hit play you'll see him doing the moves and that's how easy it is now to add all different kinds of animations so as long as you can find it on mixo or you can find it on the marketplace you can easily bring it in and then just retarget it to your metahuman I hope this was helpful and thanks for watching
