in today's video we're gonna set a new record catching more mice in one night than I've ever caught before using one of the most technologically advanced and impressive mousetraps that I've ever seen so make sure you watch to the end because this is an action-packed episode today for mousetrap Monday we're gonna test out one of the most exciting mousetraps I've ever heard of an electronic rolling log mousetrap invented by YouTube viewer from Germany he's really generous to over two months ago he sent me the first prototype in this box but it got completely lost in the mail we called DHL they had no idea it was so much time I had him send me another package via UPS more prototypes this came in less than a week and out of the blue after missing for two months the original package came so I guess they found it I'm really excited to see what's inside so let's open up the boxes and see what these electronic rolling log mousetraps look like oh these are messy the packing peanuts right here's a trap I got a cover up my address don't want psychos sending me hate mail says cleared by customs at SDF cool those were packed really well but they all survived shipping without any damage here's the three versions of the electronic rolling log mousetrap the axle sent me he calls it the sudden earthquake mousetrap and he's been working on different prototypes here's prototype number four number seven and number eight he's made quite a few changes the earlier versions went all the way across the bucket the later ones are only half the bucket now these are electronic and they run on a battery he wasn't able to send the battery and shipping but I bought one on eBay it's a 7.2 volt high-powered ni MH battery this one came in a 6-cell flat pack it looks like this now these are rechargeable you can plug it in the wall here's the plug he sent me those don't work in the US but he's sent an adapter so our batteries are all charged these all came with an extensive instruction manual so we're first going to try out the earlier version that goes all the way across the bucket and then we'll try the later versions these first two you have to calibrate when you set it up but this last one you don't have to calibrate so let's get the bucket and see how it works we have our bucket and our mousetrap step number one make sure your batteries charged I already did that step number two fill the bucket halfway with water I'm not going to do that for now because we're going to test it out with our pet mice step number three bait the trap with peanut butter or your favorite sticky bait all the way around on the middle line so now that we're baited we have to calibrate the trap we'll start by plugging it in and it might start spinning immediately the trap is equipped with a gravity sensing switch that detects the orientation of the trap and makes the microprocessor execute a calibration routine for their automated adjustments of the trigger system sensitivity once the rotation of the tube is stopped it's calibrated so we're now ready to place it in the position of normal operation we'll flip it over the calibration mode is now disabled and the trap is in the mode for normal operation check the trigger system by approaching the bait on the top of the tube with your finger it should spin as we get closer nothing nothing nothing there we go your trap is now ready for catching mice let's get our pet mice and see what happens we'll play some fabric in there for a soft landing watch out for an earthquake gotcha well prototype number four worked well with our pet mice they went out there across the line it's fun and dunk them in the bucket now I want to try prototype number eight that one you don't have to calibrate and it fits on a five-gallon bucket it only goes halfway this is very simple to set up there's a mounting bracket with a curve that fits the inside of the bucket and a bolt that you tighten down on the lip now we can bait it on the end more peanut butter all the way around and plug it in we'll have a ramp for the mouse to climb up you'll go out on the bucket try to get it on the end and when it does it spins let's see how this version works with our pet mice okay go on the trap let's see if it works with a much smaller Mouse another small one this has really been working well well so far I like prototype number eight the best but we're gonna go set them up in the barn with motion cameras and see which one catches more wild mice I'm out here at a friend's house and I've been asked to help deal with a huge mouse problem they've been feeding their animals and the mouse populations gotten out of control so we're gonna set up the sudden earthquake mousetrap and see how many we can catch first we'll fill the bucket with water you don't want it too full where the water is gonna splash on the trap now we'll calibrate it and set up our motion cameras now at the same time we're also going to test out prototype number eight I attached it to a bucket that's half full of water there's a ramp and fresh peanut butter at the end this is going to be a really good test we removed all the animal feed and there's hungry mice running around everywhere so let's set up the motion cameras and see how many we catch with a sudden earthquake mousetraps well that was a great surprise when I went to go check the traps this morning prototype number four had eight mice in it and prototype number eight had a dozen that's 20 mice we caught in one night that will really help with the mouse problem now I don't want all these mice to go to waste so I'm gonna feed them to wild animals we'll set up the motion cameras and see what comes along and enjoys these Mouse snacks well that was interesting the opossums and skunks had a feast they loved eating the mice we catch raccoons are kind of tricky sometimes they eat them and sometimes they don't I guess they're not starving right now because they passed them up and I always loved seeing the other wildlife especially the Bobcat it's a really pretty animal now this trap here is the rolling log this is my most popular video with over 20 million views it's a low-tech option but it is one of my all-time favorite but his biggest weakness is when the mice come out there sometimes it spins they feel it move and they're hesitant so you don't catch every mouse especially the smart ones this trap solves that problem it's completely solid until they get to the sensor then like a sudden earthquake that gets spun and dunked in the bucket now after seeing these mouse traps in action I'm sure there's going to be viewers who are gonna want to purchase these sudden earthquake mousetraps but for now they're not for sale these are prototypes and they're still in the product development stage if the inventor does offer them for sale in the future or if he wants to include his contact information I'll put it in the description down below but as an electronic developer he spent years testing out different designs coming up with different prototypes and he now has a really good working model this could be a very valuable idea he wants to be careful with who he shares the technology I feel honored being one of the first to test it out now axel has answered quite a few comments in my previous video and that led to a huge problem he contacted me kind of frustrated because he got a notice that said I was censoring his comments and that's not something I would do so if you got a message that I was censoring one of your comments in my videos that's an auto-generated system by YouTube apparently if you answer too many comments on a video they'll think of spam and block you so if that's happened to you I'm sorry these automatic systems from YouTube can be really frustrating they've really affected my channel and if you haven't subscribed to my channel yet please consider clicking the button right here I've posted over 550 videos on YouTube and currently I'm posting new videos every Monday so if you want to see the best videos on how to catch mice rats squirrels chipmunks moles foals and Gophers stay tuned [Music]
