Impossible Prediction REVEALED. ft. Shin Lim. Virtual Mentalism Card Trick Tutorial

this week we're gonna learn a really easy but incredibly powerful mentalism card trick you make a prediction they randomly choose a card and your prediction matches the best part of this trick is that the method is so deceptive and unique that it fools most magicians here we go what's going on guys welcome back to the channel and this week I have a real treat for you guys this is one of the most direct and deceptive pieces of mentalism that I've ever come across there's a few reasons I think this is one of the best tutorials that I'm ever going to put on the channel first of all it's really easy the deception here doesn't rely on your technique but a secret weapon that I'm gonna teach you guys today second its original I came up with it so you're not gonna learn it anywhere else and finally it relies on a method that a lot of magicians really don't know about so this fools a lot of magicians it's really really deceptive in fact for all those reasons because most magicians don't know about this I was gonna sell this that was my initial intention when all this was over I was gonna film a download and it was gonna be for sale but over the last couple of weeks I filmed some tutorials and a lot of you said that they really helped you and they gave you something to do while you were being safe and they allowed you to entertain your family and friends and it lifted your spirits and that just meant the world to me so I made the decision to make this a free video on the channel another huge advantage of this effect is that you can do it virtually through a screen your spectator doesn't have to be physically in front of you which in these times I think is golden now I've always said on the channel that it's very important for me when I teach you guys a trick for you guys to see what the performance looks like so I did that I performed it virtually for a dear friend of mine who happens to be one of the if not the best card magician in the world so without further ado guys here's the performance of this mentalism piece performed from my good friend Shin Lim okay guys so here is the performance for our special guest this week mr. Shin Lim welcome to the channel Shin hello how's it going Spidey good dude how you doing you good I'm good I'm good and let's see this trick excited so shouldn't start to the prediction can you see that that is a prediction the card says prediction and it's on a read back card you see that right and that's gonna go inside this envelope I actually want to show you this too there's nothing else inside the envelope you can see that good no absolutely nothing and that goes in now I'm gonna draw it very slowly like this at the fingertips that way you know there's nothing weird and I can't manipulate the card that's why it's in the envelope I can't get to it I can't change it I can't switch it I'm just gonna leave it right there in full view I also have a deck of cards that I'm gonna mix up because I want you to see that this is legit mix and all the cards are very solid things yes good and I'll give it a couple of cuts like this and you notion because you're the card expert that these are not fake shuffles these are legit shuffles yeah yeah I'm gonna go through the cards one at a time very slowly always from the top you say stop when you want to make sure I stop exactly when you say so I'm gonna go through the cards you say stop when you're like stop right there now you stopped me as I dropped that card do you want the one on the table or the one in my hand the one on the table the one so this one right here that's one we're going with great you have any idea what that card is no you don't great I'm gonna put that inside the envelope as well so let's go over what happened before anything started I took the card that said prediction I put it inside the envelope then I grabbed the deck of shuffled cards and I went through it you said stop when you like you could have said stop at any one of these cards and they're all different you could have said something any one of these cards but you did it you said stop at the card that we placed in there so right now inside this envelope there are two cards my prediction and the one that you chose absolutely nothing else in there you can see that right do you have any idea which card you picked or which card I predicted no I you chose the five of Hearts I predicted - wow that's crazy III don't know the exact that's it I like that that's best that's pretty cool I mean like that that's yeah Wow because a lot of because you've seen predictions like this before but usually there's something funny with it but I'm not entirely sure about the method via if this is cool this is really cool yeah exactly I'd like learn how to do this effect so this effect is a little bit different than other tricks that we've learned on the channel because once you have the things you need the actual performance of it is a joke it's so simple the time you're gonna put into this and I mean a couple of minutes is gonna go into preparing the things you need in order to do this I think it's really important for all magicians and Mentalist to know a couple of impromptu tricks that you could do without preparation you know borrow deck of cards borrow a piece of paper and you're good to go but I think the real secret to bring your magic to the next level is knowing a couple of tricks like this that use secret gimmicks or tools that your spectator doesn't even know exists because I think these could hit a level of impossibility that impromptu tricks very very rarely get to so without further ado let's look into what these secret weapons are that you're going to be using let's begin with the one time preparation of the envelope what that means is that you're only going to do this one time it's gonna take a minute and then you'll be good to go forever you don't have to redo this every time you're gonna do the trick so you need for this is a good size envelope it needs to be big enough so that when you put a card in it you can't see the card and it's got a little bit of room to move around the envelope doesn't have to be black I prefer black and you'll see why in just a second the thicker the better but it can be white totally up to you whatever you could find is fine if you want exactly these envelopes that I use which I think are perfect I will leave a link in the description and they're extremely inexpensive and they work perfectly for the trick here's what you're gonna do for this grab a pair of scissors if you are under the age of 18 get someone to help you and all you're gonna do and this will literally take a minute is cut along the edges of the entire envelope so you're really not making a very thick cut like this you're trying to go pretty thin like that and you are just cutting very slim strips like this that's it your envelope gimmick is this so now you remove all the front bits and you get one extra piece like this which is the back of an envelope next you're gonna grab another envelope just like it and you're gonna slide this piece into that piece if you're having a hard time it's because you cut too thin so you might want to remove a little bit more off the edges when you've done that what you have is something that looks like a normal envelope and you can even open it like this and you can even show inside especially on camera that looks great like that but it's got a secret wall over here which means you can hide things behind it this is called a double envelope and you can use it for a lot more tricks than just this one it's a great way to hide a card inside an envelope now let's talk about the prediction card so this is what I was talking about earlier this is the thing that I fooled so many magicians with because so many of them have no idea this exists or that you can make this so my prediction card is a card that I could throw around it is an actual 5 of Hearts I could throw it around I can toss it from hand to hand I could throw it and catch it it could fall to the ground it doesn't matter but when I'm ready I can separate it into two cards and that is to five of hearts and that was completely silent now at the end of this video I'm gonna tell you how to do this trick without sticking the two cards with normal cards no sticky stuff if you want to start doing it right away but I definitely don't think it's anywhere near as strong as using what I'm about to tell you so the way I've done this the way I've stuck the two cards together is one of my biggest secret weapons and I'm sharing it now for the first time it is called easy tack this is a product that a lot of magicians don't know about and it is a game changer first of all this one bottle will last you a lifetime I've made decks full of cards like this and it's still more than half-full and you can do so much more than predictions with this I already know that the magicians and Mentalist watching this know some great applications for this you know what I'm talking about the reason it's a miracle is because it allows you it's strong enough to stick two cards together like this and they won't separate and when you want to separate them unlike a lot of other adhesives it's completely silent it doesn't make that sound you know what I mean so you can use this for so many so many things I will leave a link in the description to where you could get this delivered right to your door like I said it's really not expensive and you have enough in this can to last you the rest of your life I swear by this now I'm going to show you how to use this incredible product to very quickly make the prediction card that you need for this trick or any other card in a trick where you have to stick two cards together in a very very deceptive way now again for this trick you don't absolutely need this you can use double-sided tape or other adhesives and at the end of the video I'm even going to show you a way to do this without any glue or tape just normal cards but in my head 100% there's no doubt this is the way to go so the first thing you need to do is to protect your surface so you're gonna put down a piece of paper could be newspaper or whatever just to protect the surface that you're gonna be using then from the deck of cards that you're gonna want to be using for this trick so in my case it's a blue deck of cards you're gonna put down a card at random then you're gonna grab from a different deck a matching card this is going to be your prediction you're gonna set that aside you don't need that quite yet the last thing you need for this is from a new deck or from an old deck doesn't really matter you need a random card so you know the guarantee cards that come with it or a joker or a useless card just a card that you don't need anything at all now you're gonna grab a pair of scissors again if you're under 18 get an adult to help you with this and on this useless card you're gonna make a diagonal rectangle you're gonna cut a diagonal rectangle here's how super simple you know grab your scissors you're gonna make a long cuts diagonally like this then a little cut like that then you're gonna go back this way and then you're gonna cut there that's it that's step one so now you have this diagonal slit in a card you're gonna grab your blue card the one that matches the deck and you're gonna lay this on top like that the diagonal is going from the top left to the bottom right it's going like this that's important then you're gonna take your spray you're gonna shake it and from about a foot away you're just gonna give it a quick spray while you move like this you're really not trying to get a lot like a thick layer on it you just want to mist it a little bit so I'm about a foot and a half away I've shaken this and I'm just gonna do literally this that's it that's literally it I can remove that top card careful it's gonna be a little bit sticky this surface will also be sticky but now I've got this card what you can't even see it that's the other advantage of this product it's completely invisible but right now across this card diagonally there is a sticky strip that is strong enough but also weak enough that it doesn't make a sound now you can get rid of this you don't need that anymore you're gonna take your other card and on the back of that you're going to write prediction now usually I like to use a marker that is thicker than this but with a sharpie or a permanent marker you're gonna write down prediction give us another minute to dry now I've got a card where I could place another card on top in this case it's my prediction card just give a very light squeeze like that diagonally and now I've got this card that I could throw around I could handle it'll never separate but when I wanted to just by squeezing my thumb and index here I could separate them completely silently I I don't know if you guys realize how strong what I just gave away is so to perform it you're going to start by showing them your prediction make sure to handle it very freely so they know that there's nothing suspicious with that card that's the beauty of this you're gonna go place it in the envelope now here's what I like to do I like to stop at this point sit down open the envelope and show it to them like this so they could see into it I like the way the card holds down that secret flap so they could see all the way in there then you drop it in like this and you fold the envelope down like that always make sure when you're showing them to have a little tilted the envelope looks a lot better from this angle than from that angle where you could maybe see a bit of the open so I'm showing it to them like this see you could see that but they absolutely cannot from their angle so now the cards you're gonna take the cards if this is a live-performance and they're in front of you you let them shuffle these check them out if not if it's virtual you show them over camera that the cards are all different like this and you mix the cards like that now if it's in person you can have them take a card they could say stop as you deal through but virtually you're gonna deal through the cards like this until they say stop make sure you do this slowly and they could see how fair this is that's the beauty of this trick it's extremely fair they say stop now you stop there and you say do you want this one or that one really be fair let's say they want that one you say great that's the card you take the envelope with your left hand towards them like this and you go here and the card goes behind that wall over here to them it looks like it's just going into the envelope immediately close and turn like this so they see that it went in you didn't hide it behind the envelope or anything like that now you set the envelope down and you recap what happened there's a very important reason you're doing this I don't know how many of you noticed it but the card they chose went in this way but it's about to come out with the back this way so if you do it right away put the card in then turn the envelope and pull it out and the back is still towards them very few people might notice that I really don't think that many but I'm a perfectionist so I set it down I talked about this so they forget the orientation the envelope was in and you create a bit of a time disconnect anyways when you're ready you open the envelope you reach in and here's what's gonna happen inside the envelope your fingers are gonna go and they're gonna grab in this front compartment that prediction and with your thumb and your index you're going to separate and split that prediction like that so you're gonna do that inside the envelope which is why you need a bit of wiggle room now you're gonna come out like this they're gonna see exactly what they need to see your prediction in their selection you stop there your thumb goes in you could show them that there's nothing else in there you keep going like this keep the back towards them come up here and continue the separation now never separate like this because a that looks weird and it also sounds weird so keep separating by pushing like this see that had no sound now I'm here I I reek app again I say you chose the nine of Spades I predicted really slowly now really milk this nine of spades BAM now before I go let's talk about the version of this where you don't need the sticky spray and you could just do it with regular cards now I don't think it's as good I don't think it's as fair but it's definitely interesting and you might want to play around with it so I left the link in the description you can go check
