The Perfect Mentalism Trick Tutorial. Easy Mind-Reading Revealed by Spidey.

this week I'm gonna teach you one of the most versatile techniques in all of mentalism and it's gonna allow you to read the mind of anyone you meet whether they're thinking of a name a drawing a number of card whatever and at the end I'm gonna reveal the winners of the contest here we go what's going on guys Spidey here and this week I'm gonna teach you one of the most versatile mentals and techniques that I know this is something that's pretty easy to do once you practice it but it's so so deceptive and looks incredible now for those of you who are following the channel who know magic we've been doing magic for a long time you're gonna instantly recognize this technique but I think you're really gonna appreciate the way I use it those of you who are not gonna recognize this technique we're gonna see it for the first time I promise you there's gonna be one of your favorite things to do because it's just so versatile you could do so many different things with it you could do mind-reading stuff you could do stuff with a deck of cards and we're gonna learn and go through all the different uses for this now before I show you step by step all the amazing things that you can do with this technique I want to show you performance because you know how important that is for me but I do want to say something about this performance normally in my tutorial videos the performance footage is from one of my shows I'm surrounded by a group of people I do the trick it gets a great reaction except for right now with what's happening I'm not doing any shows and we're not even allowed to be in groups so I got together with just one friend of mine outdoors and I filmed this for you to see what it normally looks like but I've known this friend for like 20 years she's seen my show a hundred times and I specifically asked her to not give me a big fake reaction at the end because I hate that kind of thing so this performance is for you to see how the trick plays out and I'm sure you're gonna be able to imagine how amazing the reactions normally are we're going to try something with your thoughts right now I've got some index cards you're grab anyone doesn't matter they're all the exact same thing and all you think about drawing in your mind that holds meaning to you any object in the world that means something to you that you can easily draw you have something great take this marker draw it on either side of that card I will look away that way there's no way I could see it make sure that I cannot see what it is let me know when you're done all right I'll take the marker first make sure I can't see it and I'm gonna ask you just pop that back wherever you like they're good right there take one let's look at it we're gonna show the camera I'm at the camera I could see that I'll hold it there for you guys to see that at home great take one last look at it in fact I'm gonna leave it sticking out like this because I want you to see that I'm not gonna look at I'm not gonna touch it I'm just gonna push it in like that barely touching it is that 100% fair yeah excellent hold out your right hand I'm gonna put these cards in there and I'm just gonna grab the top one look at me over here think of your drawing in your mind imagine it like in this big screen between us projected right there okay it's interesting some objects have monetary value some objects have sentimental value I feel like although this is something that's quite expensive you're thinking of it more because of the emotional connection you have to it correct or the or the emotional connection that this represents I think this is something you've had this for a few years now a couple of years and it's reminding you of a specific time of your life is that is that correct okay focus on that I think I have a good idea of what this is go with that I think I'm good with this hold up your left hand slot like this wonderful man put that right there that is my drawing now you made a drawing you put it somewhere in the middle you saw that it went in there fairly so it's gonna be somewhere in here oh there it is is that what is that is that a ring yeah let's show the camera you guys could see that's a ring and it's got the diamond on top and it's even got these lines that are like sparkly I had no idea what you were thinking I made a drawing as well and put in your hand you drew a ring not gonna believe this I drew a ring there it was I hope you guys enjoyed that performance so what we're learning today is a secret peek in other words you're secretly gonna see some thing that your spectator has no idea that you can possibly see now this peak is based on a move called the convincing control invented by Edie Marlowe who was one of the most famous card magicians who ever lived it's an amazing control and we're gonna learn today all the different ways that you could use it and the adjustments I've made to make it easier and to turn it into a peak in other words a secret way to look at something but before we do that please remember to hit subscribe turn those notifications on for more amazing tutorials contests mentalism and hypnosis first and foremost you have to decide in which context you want to perform this technique so in the video you just saw I did it as a mind-reading trick where she made a drawing and I read our mind and told her what that is so if you're gonna do mind-reading whether it's a drawing a name a number a word whatever you're gonna want to use these these are called either double blank cards or simply blank playing cards I will leave a link in the description where you could get a bunch of these at a very reasonable price as a Mentalist I swear by these I use them all the time to have people draw things write things and do mentals and pieces and I just love these but you can also do this technique with a regular deck of cards because they can just touch a card you could show it to them and then you could secretly know what their card is in a very very deceptive way so decide if you're using blank cards or normal playing cards I'm gonna start by showing you the technique with a normal deck of cards because it'll be a lot easier for you to follow and see what's supposed to be where then I'll show you how to do it with the blank cards which i think is so much stronger and that's where I always do it when it comes to mind reading and if you want to do that version once again go to the link in the description get yourself some blank cards and you could start reading and blowing some minds here's what it looks like with the cards so you're gonna spread two and you're gonna ask them to touch one let's say they touch this one over here you ask them to remember that card as you turn your head away so you can't see anything so you say everyone remember that card right there now I'm going to try to do this in frame so you guys could see exactly what it looks like you bring the cards down you stick their card out and they think that that is 100% their card except for it's not their card is already at the bottom because you already switched it that's the first part of the move so I'm going to teach you this first then I'll show you what you do after you have it at the bottom so the way I learned the convincing control the way a lot of magicians do it I think is a lot harder because in the original you have to perfectly align two cards like this and you're holding a double card I don't do that here's what I do so let's say they touch this card over here the one I'm touching with my left thumb let's see what it is it's the six of Spades let's say they touch that one here's what's happening under the spread of cards my right ring and middle finger are grabbing the card on top of the six of Spades like this and just pushing it slightly until I feel that six of spades and I'm stopping there so what's happening is they're not aligned but my middle finger and my ring finger now are pinching the six of spades and the card next to it so those are being held by these two fingers and the rest of the deck is being held by my index finger so that happens down here right so you spread through they touch the six and I just pinch those two cards from under I could feel them and now I come up to show it to them like this I go remember that card now my left hand is gonna come up to show them the card after remember or point to the picture or the word or whatever and what's happening secretly is that my left thumb this is contacting the back of the second card over the one on top of the six like this so it's contacting that card and my ring and middle finger are now readjusting a little bit very subtly so that they are only touching that front card the one they chose so here's what's gonna happen on the way down from here it's gonna look like you're just doing this that's all it's gonna look like but in fact your ring and middle finger are now stretched out fully and on the way down from there they're all they're gonna do is pull that card back to there just like that so it started off here and all it's doing these two fingers are just doing this now this card stays in place because my left thumb is holding it there so I really want you to just get that right it's just literally this on the way down now to them that looks like that's their card but it's not now you've ended up here from this point you're gonna do two things here's what you're gonna do all my fingers now of the right hand are pinching that card on its right side there along the length of the card my thumb is pinching on top I'm gonna move everything down like this all together and my right fingers are gonna allow this to open up like a book and you're gonna close the cards up and that puts their card at the bottom once again in slow motion they touch a card my ring and middle finger pinch that card on the one above it as the index finger holds down the rest of the deck left hand comes up to show that card left thumb pinches the second card over all the way down from this position these pull that as I go here they think this is their card it's already switched this whole thing moves back that card is opened up like this and it closes up and goes right to the bottom okay so now let's talk about how you're gonna secretly see the card so there's two ways to do it so once again let's say they've touched a card you've showed it to them you've told everybody remember this card you've secretly stolen it it's at the bottom they think it's over here it's already at the bottom there are two ways to go about this the first one is as simple as this you have them push it in you say push your card in yourself they push it and you just grab the deck from above and you simply say okay so it's somewhere in the middle and you're just staring at it it's right there in the face this is so innocent because they have no idea that you could possibly see that card they don't know it's there the second way to secretly see the card is the one I use more often and I find it so sneaky is ridiculous so let's say that's the card once again you've shown it to everyone and you come down here and you close up the cards here's what I do I say I didn't see it I don't even want to touch it I'm actually gonna just push it in like this so basically what I've done is my left thumb and fingers have grabbed the deck like this on the side my right hand comes over and from the bottom of the deck pulls out a bunch of cards and I come forward to use them to push that card in so they think their card is here sticking out when in fact it's staring me right in the face because it was at the bottom so this is so crazy to me because they think their card is being pushed in but it's actually staring you in the face then I drop it on top like this and I've seen their card but they have no idea that that was possible now let's talk about the version with the blank cards which is my absolute favorite because it's such a practical and strong close up piece of mind reading so they've made the drawing they're holding onto this you spread the cards and you tell them to put it back somewhere so let's say they put it there I mean doesn't matter you spread and they place it somewhere in the middle so as I'm spreading I extend my hand and my hand is already pinching this next card over with the middle and ring finger so they I go like this they put their drawing back in the middle right there and as I come back I add it here so basically I just do this so I add it there so once again we're in that same position and I say actually you know what let's show everyone so first they drew it now they put it back actually that's show everyone take one last look really burn that image in your mind will shrug what else everybody remember that picture that's it now we're in the exact same position on the way down I get rid of it they 100% think it's over here and I say look I don't want to look at it I don't even want to touch it so I'm gonna push it right in and of course I'm looking at it once again push that in close the deck give this to them take one for myself or take a piece of paper draw what I think put that in the other hand and you have a beautiful close-up mentalism miracle there it was guys I hope you enjoyed this really versatile and deceptive
