this past year has been incredibly hard for me I haven't been experiencing some complications hey guys welcome back to my channel if this is your first time here welcome for those of you that don't know me my name is Jessica I am currently finishing up my fifth year of teaching and this year I am teaching second grade I completed my internship in a kindergarten classroom for a year and a half I taught kindergarten for my first three years of teaching last year I taught third grade and then this year I am teaching second grade I have been at a total of three schools so this is my second grade classroom and today I will be giving you my last classroom tour just keep in mind that this classroom tour is going to be more of a realistic classroom tour so a lot of classroom tours show you what the classroom is like at the beginning of the school year everything is beautiful and perfect and labeled and just absolutely gorgeous everything is nice and neat and in its place as you can see I don't even have labels on my book bins back here because you know you get to a point where it's just like yeah nevermind I'm just not even gonna worry about it so this classroom tour is going to kind of feel like an end-of-the-year classroom tour you will see some things around the classroom that are not perfect a lot of things actually I have had labels fall off I have pots of gold that are hanging up from March from st. Patrick's Day that I haven't taken down yet I have missing letters on my alphabet I mean it's just it's real life you guys real life so yes my classroom may have started out beautiful and perfect at the beginning of the year and then throughout the year things just happen kids are in here you know seven hours a day and things fall down things get knocked off things get broken and so you will get to see what it's really like in my second-grade classroom enjoy [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so on the outside of my classroom I just have my welcome sign and this little sign I got from the target dollar spot it says dream big on one side and be inspired on the other this is a sweet little collage that our Learning Lab teacher put together based on what my students said about me so sweet I love it right outside of my classroom is my bulletin board and this is where I display student work okay so when you first walk in the classroom I have my Friday folder buckets my hand sanitizer for when we go to lunch and then I have a pencil over here because I usually have my lunch calendar taped up here so the kids can see what they're having for lunch that day and we usually cross off each day but that's not up down here I have my geo blocks for math on this side of the door I have my tooth chart my birthday chart our class picture and then our writing conventions from what we decided we were going to look at for the entire school year this Apple I got from a parent as an end-of-the-year class gift in kindergarten a couple of years ago I have my book buddies or my reading buddies down here in this pink bucket I believe I got that from Walmart or Michaels this number line I got from TPT and I just printed it on lime-green paper my wall was not long enough for the entire number line so I just had to split it into two parts right above my Book Nook I have three bulletin boards so I have my calendar bulletin board in the middle and as you can see I do not have a month right here so welcome to my life and I have my days of the week I got these from Target they are the Astro brights brand the calendar set is from learning in Wonderland then over here I just used the MTF font and printed out my own letters on Astro brights paper that's a reading and math is over there I also have writing which I'll show you in just a moment these reading strategies posters are from TPT and these are close to my teacher table which is why they're here and reading board and then right here I have all of my reading anchor charts that we have used throughout this school year the kids like to come up and kind of flip through if they forget about something like what a noun is what a verb is an adjective all of those things so I have author's purpose text features my lovely stool for main idea I'm so artsy right just kidding same all kinds of different anchor charts my lovely drawing of a hand so like I said I'm super artsy can't you tell my character traits and by the way I got a lot of these ideas offline this one has some things from the Lucy cockin z-- curriculum itself so I just put those on a chart for my kids so there's all kinds of things there and the kids can come up and refer to those as needed so my math board is very similar we have the anchor charts again so I have my graphs I have subtraction strategies shapes arrays all kinds of things tens and ones and then I have the mathematical practices right here there are eight of them and we focus on these throughout the school year so yes the kids again can come over and look at the different charts if they need to so this whole area here is my book nook and the kids love love love these pink chairs I got these from Walmart and they were pretty cheap actually these green pillows honestly I don't remember where I got them I have had those since my first year of teaching and I want to say they are from Walmart as well but it's been about five years and so I basically just washed them each year and put them in my new classroom because they are just bright and cheerful and they really just go well with a lot of different themes over here I have this lovely fake tree that I got from a first grade teacher and then we have our computer cart so this computer cart holds all of my students computers so as you can see on Friday my computer helper didn't know how to plug in the computers like he or she should have but that's okay because you know again this is a real classroom tour you can see that a couple of computers are missing so I'm gonna have to go searching for those today nice because all students have their own computer and it's just really nice because we have a class set on top of that is where I keep students files so I just have them numbered and then each student has a file folder for reading writing and math that way when I am doing report cards or when I have parent-teacher conferences everything is kind of separated this folder right here is papers that I need to file so these papers I need to file inside of the student portfolios right next to that I have my helpers that I change out each week and those are from TPT I will link those down below and then I have this extra desk that I turned into a calm down area so this used to be right outside of my classroom but I did move it back inside because I had some students that were not using it appropriately or they would go and sit out there and I wouldn't know that they were out there if they had like come back from the bathroom or something so I would go out and check and there they would be so I moved it in the classroom so that I could keep a better eye on them but basically what I have in here is a couple of coloring pages and some crayons and then down at the bottom I have kinetic sand and some sensory objects so there really isn't too much over here because I didn't want them to stay over here too long they need to be over here just for enough time to where they can calm down and come back and rejoin us wherever we are or join us with whatever task we're doing and then this is our sink area so I have this sign that I got from Hobby Lobby it says make today ridiculously amazing these are from the Dollar Tree this whole little vase and everything here is from Dollar Tree this mirror was already here in the classroom we have our wet wipes from the custodian some tissues and then this little sweet sign a student made for me and put it over here it's I left it there because it's just adorable so basically up here is where I keep all of my bags or tissues or just any kind of materials like I don't know plastic forks bags zip locks things like that I keep above the sink down below are some extra paints and things like that I know it's not organized but I honestly left whatever was down here from the previous teacher this top drawer has some extra graph paper and writing paper this drawer contains some extra bulletin board stuff this one has some extra curtains and table cloths set the previous teacher left and then the bottom one has some ribbons and balloons and popsicle sticks so again I really don't ever touch anything over here this is all just kind of extra materials that the previous teacher left and I honestly just left it there where didn't know what to do with it so I just left it then at the top of these cabinets I have these letters that spell be kind and I got these letters from Hobby Lobby and I just spray painted them black and what I would recommend if you want to do this for your classroom get one letter at a time and use the 40% off coupon that way it saves you a ton of money these I believe are the paper mache letters but you can see they spray-painted pretty well and they were super easy and quick to spray-paint so love I especially love those letters because you can see them from all the way down the hall and then on these two cabinets next to them I have these math vocabulary cards that I got from TPT so as we learn a new concept I introduce the vocabulary word and then we put it up on our math word wall over here at the bottom I have these lap desks I have four and they are from Michaels so the students can come and get these and take them around the room inside of these cabinets it's pretty scary but basically I have some holiday decorations and there are some files in there right here I have my two rainbow drawers and these came from Michaels I got them at I believe 60% off and then I also used my teacher discount I got these last year when I taught third grade and they have been amazing for both years that I have had them so in one set I have my guided reading materials so here are all of my guided reading groups and then some extra guided reading supplies in the other one I have my word work stations so I just do some other thing for word work as well but when the kids are done with whatever task I have them do forward work then they can come and choose an activity from one of the rainbow drawers and as you can see things happen things happen when you teach elementary school so I don't know but I have things in here like stamping letters magnetic words all kinds of things here's my magnetic letters there are some words in there too somewhere right there and then these are just some metal trays but I can do another video that shows some guided reading materials maybe over this summer if you want me to that make you make them look a little bit more organized I mean let's be real here I don't know the kids love these though they have a lot of fun right on top of these drawers I just have some blank paper and then I have my tattle turtle this little tote right here is from 31 I thought it was just perfect because it has little turtles all over it how cute right and then this little guy I ordered off of Amazon so this is my tattle turtle and when kids come in from recess if they have something that they're gonna tell me that is a tattle and not a report which they have been pretty good about distinguishing this second half of the year but they will come up to tattle turtle and they will whisper to tattle turtle and tell him instead of me which is awesome I tell the kids that tattle turtle tells me whatever they had tattled to him about but he tells me after school so that we can work it out and so that I know what's going on but they don't have to tattle to me now if it's a report that's different my kids know the difference and sometimes they abide by that tattle vs. report roll and sometimes they don't but a lot of times when they do they will come over and tell tattle turtle their little tattle works wonders get yourself a tattle turtle okay and then right next to my rainbow drawers I have this black cart that I ordered from Amazon this is my guided reading cart and this is what I take and I wheel over to my teacher table and then wheel back so I keep all of my group books and materials and folders inside of these drawers but whenever I know which groups are meeting with that day I usually put their folders here and have all of their materials ready and then I just drive this little guy over all the way to the teacher table and actually I usually have a student bring this over but I just have some different materials in here like which fingers and reading highlighters reading strategies are word wall lists all kinds of things that we would use during our guided reading groups I don't have everything in here right now because I was doing some running records on Friday again I can touch on this maybe over the summer just to kind of share with you a little bit about how I set up guided reading right next to my guided reading cart I have some leveled books so as you can see I don't really have a ton of leveled books a lot of them are actually in the students book bins but I don't really have a whole lot so I get a lot of my books from our leveled library in the library itself we have a literacy library so books that come in sets like this and then I just distribute those for my kids and they have those in their book bins these ones are really just kind of like extra leveled readers that they can come in and switch out with books that are in their book bin but down here I have some dictionaries I have my signs right here for our daily five and then these baskets I usually use for work on writing or word work depending on the activity I will use those as our Center baskets inside of this box here I have some writing prompts that I got from TPT and so the kids can they choose a number of the prompts that they want and then they have to write that number at the top of their paper so I know which prompt they used or they answered so that is just another option for them for work on writing on top of that I just have my turnin basket and then I used to have another basket up here but I'm using it for something else right now these are my students homework folders as you can see I did not get to finish up those on Friday so whoops that happens sometimes and then I have this little bucket of highlighters where the students are supposed to highlight their name that is actually supposed to be right over there the turn in baskets so anyway they don't do this all the time but basically if there is a student that keeps forgetting to put their name on their paper I will make sure that they highlight their name before they turn it into the turn in basket it's funny because I have been going through my classroom right now showing you guys things and I'm finding things that are out of place so these are what I wear when I am doing guided reading with my kids and it reminds the kids don't bug me so these are great I ordered these off of Amazon by the way I'll link them down below and then I do always keep a box of tissues up here on the black shelf as well this special calculator is what I use to do running records for my kids guided reading so that usually stays on my guided reading cart and then over here I usually keep my mr. sketch markers but we've been using them for a lot of things and I've been taking a lot home to kind of gray some papers at home which is why a lot of those are missing those are also what I use for a lot of my anchor charts so over here is my teacher desk and basically I have two computers this one projects onto the Promethean Board and this one I usually use to like take attendance and things like that I have this sparkly mousepad from the target dollar spot and I have this document camera that came with the classroom this little bell i got from my little ones fourth-grade teacher this little black spinning caddy I got from Gordon's which is kind of like a big t.j.maxx I have the kids lunch cards in here these are called the Viking vouchers this is what we give out as like tickets for positive behavior I have a glue stick some pens and pencils some highlighters dry erase markers happy birthday bookmarks this used to be our old talking flower we have a new one now but it's just kind of extra I have a whole bunch in here somewhere there it is and that's pretty much it for that I have some hall passes and then this is where I keep important papers whether it's papers were using on a specific day or like these ones right here our field trip forms that have come in so I just want to keep track of those these papers right here are my four behavior charts for the kids who are on behavior plans this pink chair I got from Amazon it is the best chair in the world and it's so bright and fun I will definitely link it down below I have two jugs of water down here because I go through so much water I have a couple of materials a poetry book and then I do have this bookshelf that I put over by my teacher desk please excuse all of the wires I tried to hide them the best that I could but you know sometimes it doesn't work like we hope so I know that this area looks kind of messy but it works for me and I don't know honestly like I said I'm just I don't know I've been kind of all over the place lately so this light is from Walmart you can see I need a couple of light bulbs but I love this it was only like $18 so I'm not gonna go through everything on here but I am just gonna touch on a few things that I think you might I don't know maybe you want to know what they are so I guess I'll start over here this pink Apple is from Target and I believe this is the bro Melo font that I used with my Silhouette to print my name on there I have some flowers from Dollar Tree this is my teacher tool box I do believe I got these from TPT the labels but I did make a lot of them on my own there weren't too many options on this particular one so I ended up creating a lot of them on my own but using that person's template and then I have these little crayons from the target dollar spot this is our new talking flower it's a rose from Dollar Tree these come out during Valentine's Day this is a little cup that a student made for me and this holds all of my Smarties so whenever a student makes a smarty pants answer or is participating I give them a Smarties I do have some pictures back there but I had to hide them since they have my little one on them I have a small diffuser with some essential oils and some hunters charts some office referrals a lot of artwork from students lots and lots of artwork and pictures and they are just the sweetest little things but I mean I can't put them all up as you can see my wall is kind of fool so I don't know I love it so fun three drawers Sterilite bin is used for papers that i need to copy great and file I have some brain breaks back here some cones from the dollar tree that can be used for student incentives using that this I got from a student I have a wide variety of papers over here I just kind of keep them in a stack over here and I know that those are important down here I have my microphone and I do again have another one but I actually were at home on accident which is why there's only one there I have some rice krispie treats and Dixie Cups sometimes I have the kids do lunch bunch with me and I like to have a little treat for them because they earned a special lunch with me so I have those ready I have some bubbles back here for maybe team prizes these are some emergency sub packets which thank goodness I had because if you don't follow me on the Nichols nook already then you won't probably know but I was actually in a pretty bad car accident a couple of weeks ago and it was on my way to school so thank goodness I had these because that just that was a crazy morning and the person who jumped in my classroom I am so forever grateful for because yeah that was definitely unexpected and I needed these emergency sub packets and so if again if you don't follow me on the Nicholas nook already on my personal and Family Channel then definitely go check it out because you will kind of keep more up to date with what's happening in my everyday life over there and so if I'm talking about something it'll make a little bit more sense and then over here I have my guided reading binder my teacher binder this is where I just keep all of my just everything this is more of just guided reading and so I'll make kids running records and things like that and then I have some other materials here I just taped gray paper because I just can't stand the look of wires and so all of these wires are like down here I do have my hot glue gun but yeah that so I just put grey paper down there to help cover some of my ears hip up here I have my class schedule and again real you guys something happened to my PE card for my schedule so I had to write it on here are my learning targets I got these giant googly eyes I believe at Michaels and then I just made the other letters on my own so I believe these are from the target dollar spot and these are from learning in Wonderland I think these are the actual labels that go to the three drawer Sterilite bins but I used them for my learning targets up here I have my clock this number line is a magnetic number line from Scholastic right above my learning targets I have this fairy door that I ordered from Amazon it is amazing this is my desk fairy and so what she does is she comes in visits our classroom and give special treats to students who keep their desks clean this is from the target dollar spot a whiteboard is here we do team points and as you can see Team One is rocking it this week I have my voice levels and then my marker holder I have my clock numbers up here which are from TPT my money is above the Promethean Board I did put these Christmas lights up during Christmas time and I'm gonna go ahead and plug them in for you but I decided since they are so colorful just to leave them up all year long so I think they just look so bright and cute and festive so I did used to have my whole alphabet up here at the front of the room but as you can see half of it has fallen down so that's just part of going through the school year sticky tag does not hold up all year long sometimes and then this is our science flip chart we have been doing a lot of science so I just have it right up here at the front down here at the front of the room are my sit spots so I don't have a carpet up here at the front of the room but these things are awesome you guys I ordered these off of sit spots calm or you can order them on Amazon I will link them down below so that you guys have access to them but on set spots calm you can actually pick and choose your colors I have had no issues with these coming up so the kids just put their bottom on them and when they put their bottom on them you know they can't mess with them so these have turned out to be really awesome okay so over here in this corner I have my sight words pocket chart so at the beginning of the week this is where I put all of the kids new sight words and they copy them down into their word collection books so did have a portable word wall at the beginning of the year and then I decided to move just to the word collection books just so each student had their own personal word wall down here I have this green chair that was left in the classroom and then I just have this little pillow that I got from I believe the target dollar spot during Valentine's Day and it's just been up there you know for the past few months here I got these stools these are from Family Dollar I believe they were five dollars apiece this thousands chart was already here in the classroom and this is just a little book display it is one of those red cardboard ones from Scholastic and I just spray painted it so that is what that is and normally I change these books out depending on the theme that we're learning about but there's kind of a hodgepodge a mixture of books there right now and then of course my algae lotion and my lamp I got this from gourd mints so before I continue down the counter I'm gonna come up here I have all of these blue science pins at the top of my shelf this clear one is where all of my math materials are for math investigations I have my globe and then right over here I have this love sign that my mom got for me my first year of teaching these posters are from TPT I have them on both sides and then these pink and green bins hold a lot of math materials I got these from the Dollar Tree and so I just love the way that they look up there I think they're just so beautiful and fun so ultimately I would have rather had labels on the front than them just being blank but you know you just don't really get to everything every school year so that is one of the things you know I can see the materials through so that's one of the things I didn't necessarily get to this year that you know I have geo boards here and dice so I can see kind of what's in those and yes we need to organize this for the next teacher who's in this classroom because that is not too user-friendly so my base ten blocks are up here okay so now I'm going to continue down our counter so here are my clipboard holders I got these from really good stuff and I just spray painted them black and we are missing a couple of clipboards but there still aren't enough usually for every student we usually find some here and there these little mini Sterilite drawers hold our extra supplies so I did get these labels off of TPT and then I just edited them myself and put the color of our crayons that we have from each little drawer this holds my extra glue caps so any glue sticks are glue caps that need a home put in here the kids need a sharp pencil they come in trade their gel pencil for a sharp one and then my pencil sharpener helper will sharpen pencils here I have shelves for all three of my teams and they are split up based on where they sit in the classroom so for example each team has one of these shoe shelves I think I got these at Home Depot I want to say they were like maybe nine dollars a piece it's been a couple of years so I don't know if the price has changed but I'm pretty sure that's how much they were in these teen buckets up here our extra supplies for that team so markers glue card pencils these are the kids tidy tubs so anytime we are cutting anything out like our math fact cards or spelling cards the kids put these on their tables and these collect any extra paper or trash that might come off of whatever activity they're doing so that we don't dirty up the tables this helps to keep their team nice and tidy these are just from the Dollar Tree and they work wonders these are one of the best things I think any elementary school teacher can have especially in the primary grades down below we have our busy bee books and basically these we just get every month so these are meant for early finishers so once they finish their activity and if I don't have anything else for them to do right afterward they can go ahead and work in there busy bee book to keep them learning and working until we are done as a class so they have worn searches there are some math activities in here sight-word activities holiday activities all kinds of things so those we print as a team down here you can see some of my labels are missing but over here you can tell what they are I hope you can see that journals so these are the journals for team one and so this is where they keep their writing journals so again each team is the same labels are missing but all of the kids know at this point in the year what goes where over here I have my writing area right below my windows so I have my punctuation posters which I ordered from Amazon and these are a great reference for the kids they look up here all the time and then I have my writing kind of bulletin board again I have my anchor charts and the kids they can't really reach these ones if we have to refer to something we do it as a class or I come over and kind of lift up our anchor charts these are the guidelines that we use when writing we say pow story swag it would look like this POW story they open it like a book swag so that helps them check their writing before they turn it in to me it's a lot of fun over here I have my big windows and these lime green curtains I got from Walmart these little signs I actually created and we are the Vikings here at school and these are our school expectations be respectful be responsible and be caring so just for my kids I created these signs and I probably should share them throughout the school just because I don't know if they're kind of cute I guess so and I love the little Vikings I think they just look adorable but those are just a good reminder for our kids to follow our expectations I can't really show you this because it has student names on it but this is basically just a poster in between my windows of the kids who participated in the Bukit program so that is just a little way to demonstrate what kids and how much kids are reading on this side of my window I have a couple more anchor charts these were some like poems of the week that we did you can see we didn't really have too many that we did on this chart paper but this one right here up front is actually one that I created one day when I was walking down the hall after dropping my kids off to specials so we say when we line up that we need to line up and walk in the hallway with Viking pride so these little yellow vouchers are what the kids earn for being respectful responsible and caring so in a way to kind of motivate the kids to earn Viking vouchers and they can spend them on different things you know as prizes but I created this so I say what's in black the kids stay what's in blue and it's just a lot of fun so one other thing over here by this counter is this is all open space under this counter and a lot of classrooms have chairs up here so sometimes the kids will bring these stools and they will come and sit over here at the counter but what they really love to do is use these butterfly pillows down underneath this counter I originally bought a row plate to put kind of up underneath here so that they can read they really don't need it they do just fine so I'm gonna leave that rope light here if the teacher wants to do that next year but they love love love these butterfly pillows these were already in the classroom when I got here and I just kept the ones that matched kind of my color scheme and I donated the rest to other teachers in the building and then in these cabinets they're kind of messy but again I left these kind of like how the other teacher had them these are just a lot of math materials and games that go with our curriculum and now onto the back counter so I do have a pencil sharpener but it is broken so we only use the electric sharpener but I really don't have a whole lot back here we just planted some seeds last week so it looks like they need to be watered but they are right here by the window so that they can get some good sunlight I have my extra potting mix here I have two Sterilite bins that are stacked on top of one another this is where I organize all of my papers for the week this one down at the bottom that says next week I just typed and edited myself but these labels are from learning in Wunderland here are my student mailboxes and I just got this from Amazon it is the one with 30 slots these stickers are just from Walmart and I just numbered them so that I can use them in a different classroom in a different year and I don't have student names so it just makes it easier to reuse year to year this sign I got from Target it says choose happy and it so cute I love it over here I have my basket of things that need to be sent home and filed into my student mailboxes so these are from our text feature surgery if you didn't see that video I will have it linked down below but I've had these for a while and so I'm just now sending them home I have my treasure box right here so if I have someone who is a mystery Walker or something like that they can come choose a treasure box toy or item back here in the corner I have some spelling packets and I have this is our emergency bucket or our emergency kit so if for some reason we have to go into a lockdown at some point I have all of the materials for that inside of this bucket then I have some extra guided reading books these are actually the ones that are missing some so if I gave some to students during guided reading and they didn't bring them back from home or we can't find them I have those books here so as you can see we are missing quite a few books these books have been missing for a while I actually did just find these two pirate feast books and there were a couple of others that I found in a student's backpack from like before Christmas so I do have some of the books and I just have to put them in the bags so that I can return these to the literacy library these cabinets down at the bottom are just full of a lot of different materials honestly I have all kinds of things I have file folder games for math and reading I have lots and lots of art materials down in these cabinets I have all kinds of supplies and just extra things here my inflatable ring toss pencils dry erase markers all of my extra supplies basically I keep down here in no organized fashion whatsoever because who sees it right so that is what is down there down here I have some more math materials and just different shapes for a small group I have some three-dimensional shapes here again more art materials I don't think I've opened these drawers like but a couple of times this year so anyway just different kinds of things down there and then down in this cabinet I have some extra binders and folders things that kids might need throughout the school year and then I do have our unit 7 math down here that has already been printed as well then I have my speaker for my microphone and speaker system and then I have my file cabinet right above all of that we have our American flag and then we move on to our ginormous wall full of cubbies I'm not going to really go through all of this if you have questions just please let me know and I'll go into something with a little bit more detail so I have my sweeper that is one of my jobs and it comes in SuperDuper handy I have these three rugs from Walmart as a flexible seating option during work time we have some old basil readers that we use just to practice reading with expression my clock box my unit math curriculum manuals and then some dividers or little offices for the kids if we're taking a quiz or a test I have some dry erase boards some of those books from the target dollar spot that we're gonna use for end-of-the-year memory books and then again some extra materials that we have not needed but if I get a new student or something I will have those for them up here I have incentive books for students who are completing their reading log they can choose a book to take home CDs and tapes up here I have like some computer mice lots and lots of extra books up here and some extra materials and curriculum books these are all reader's theater books so I did this a lot with my intervention group and these were already made from the last teacher these drawers are for students when they want to spend their Viking vouchers I have my fantasy empanel benchmark kit here I already took the other two of these home because I know we're moving but these are my drawers to organize some materials for the year starting with these pink baskets from the Dollar Tree and going all the way across on that shelf those are just extra books that I never got to label but they aren't organized by type so these are all of Eric Carle let's see what's in there I can't see dinosaurs and so on so they're all organized I have some nonfiction animal books science and social studies so just all kinds of different things that I never really got to label National Geographic and then as you can see all of these cubbies are for the students they do not look very organized I'm sorry but basically they all have a copy at the bottom where they keep their word workbook their math assessment books all kinds of different things poetry they all have their own book bin where they keep their leveled readers their library books if they want to and then they're reading response notebooks I got these labels from learning in Wonderland and they are personalized to make them look kind of like the students I have a 200 chart and then as you can see I have another alphabet up here at the top however I am missing a couple of letters just because yep that just happens I think you know things fall down throughout the year and then you just kind of get behind on putting things back up so up here at the top I also have some curriculum books these are old old Basel readers from the past teacher I think next year the district is getting a brand new curriculum finally I believe they are getting either Wonders or National Geographic or possibly Pearson ready gen but all of this stuff will be able to be gone so whoever's in here next year will be able to get rid of those but I just left him up there for this year we have our health book and then we have the tables so that is pretty much it this is my teacher table right here in the back and I just wheel over my black cart from here over to the teacher table for guided reading and then I just wheel it back over there the kids are split up into three teams and I honestly do not love the desks whatsoever but that is what I have this year so I just made it work but that's pretty much it this is my second grade room alright hope you enjoyed my classroom tour if you have any specific questions about anything or you want to know where something is from please leave a comment down below and I will do my best to answer that for you so that if you're looking for something similar or if you want to purchase something as well you will have the link for that item so now really quickly before I go I wanted to touch on why this is my last classroom tour and why I am done teaching my husband is military and we just got orders back to Florida as many of you may know we are so excited because we just bought a house we have a lot of family down in the area and so we are actually really excited to go back home to Florida Florida is where I started teaching and it just I don't know I love Florida so that is one of the reasons that I am leaving because we are moving not only that though this past year has been incredibly hard for me and that's honestly probably why I haven't been posting a whole lot because we have just had so much going on and if you have followed our journey really up to this point you know that I was a foster mom to one of my previous students from third grade last year and we just released on our other channel the Nichols nook some information about you know whether or not we're adopting her and how all of that is playing out in this upcoming move so I had that going on and while that was going on my husband Chaz was deployed for seven months and so I was really a single mom raising a ten-year-old and it was really hard once I had our foster daughter at the house I wanted her to be involved with things and I wanted to give her a lot of my attention because it's something that she never had from a parent really before so that is where I devoted my time of course I still devoted my teaching time to my kids in the classroom but as soon as I walked out of this classroom door it was all her and my attention was focused on her she had extra curricular activities going on so it was just it's it's been a busy busy year so along with all of that going on I just I really didn't have a whole lot of time to touch base with you guys and I'm so so sorry but it was just a lot on top of those things that were happening I also found out recently that I am pregnant however I know yay however I haven't been experiencing some complications with that and so it has been really hard there are a lot of things that I want to do from home and so I have decided that with everything kind of going on with our upcoming move and things that are happening in our personal life I am going to take a couple of years off of teaching that doesn't mean forever but I am gonna take a couple of years at least off of teaching just to kind of focus on myself and bringing health and wellness back into my life I know that may sound like I'm being self-centered but honestly I can't take care of other people the kids as much as I want to and you know other foster children that might potentially come into our life and possibly some biological children that may come into our life without taking care of myself so Chaz and I have really talked about this and we have decided that it would be best for me to stay home and work from home doing YouTube and teachers pay teachers for the next couple of years and just really focus on you know my overall well-being and I just I think it'll give me a time period where I can just be rejuvenated and refreshed and just have a new outlook on this upcoming year because this past year has been extremely tough for both of us really so when I say this is my last classroom tour it is for a while I don't know honestly when I'm gonna jump back into the classroom I'm so you guys I'll just have to stay tuned because I don't know but the plan is to take a couple of years off of teaching and just I don't know we'll see how it goes however don't worry I definitely will still be posting YouTube videos for you guys with teacher tips and sharing some things that have worked for me in the classroom I am very humbled by the fact that I earned the highest evaluation points possible a very highest number of points that I can get on a final evaluation so I was rated as a distinguished teacher for this year which is the highest that you can get and so I know that even though this year has been tough just overall and in life I know that you know I'm doing what I needed to for these kids still regardless of everything that's been happening I just don't want to burn out as a teacher and I know that if I continued teaching next year if I you know move to down to Florida and immediately tried to find a job and jumped right into that before I kind of had time to settle and you know just kind of heal after everything that's been happening I lose my lights why not hold on there we go okay that's better but I think it would just be really overwhelming and I would start to feel like I was burning out and I don't want to do that so instead of having teacher burnout and that feeling of oh my gosh I can't do this anymore I have decided to take a break again I will definitely be sharing things with you guys and I will have more time to do so yay thank goodness so please if you have any teaching questions please keep asking them and I will do my best to get to those this summer but also if you haven't been following our foster care journey or my pregnancy journey and the complications that I have been having with that please go on over to our other channel the Nichols nook that is going to be my main channel from now on because I am really enjoying documenting just our life Chaz and I have been doing a lot of exciting things lately and there have been some things that have been kind of upsetting as well and so I have been documenting those things as well so if you want to follow our journey and our life adventures and just kind of stay up-to-date with how I'm doing and just how everything is going at home please go subscribe to our other channel I will have it linked down in the description box below if you are interested in foster care or if you are going through maybe a pregnancy and just kind of want to follow my journey with that definitely check out our videos on our other channel because that is where I will be putting out more content and this channel is really just going to be for you know anything teaching related and to answer any questions that you guys may have again it's not necessarily forever that I'm leaving the classroom but it is gonna be for a while and I just think that these upcoming years are going to really just make me feel rejuvenated and ready to take on the world I guess you could say and this has been a very emotional year for us and if you want to follow that journey with us please go and follow us on the Nichols nook don't forget to click the bell so that you get notifications whenever we post a new video and thank you guys so much for understanding because you know teacher burnout is one of the most dreaded things for teachers I guess you know a lot of teachers actually leave teaching within their first five years and I mean I'm completing my fifth year I do not feel like I'm at the point where I am burning out yet but I know that if I stayed another year I would start to feel just I don't know I don't want to feel that way I want to always love what I do and I absolutely love teaching it's my favorite thing in the world I absolutely love it but it also is very time consuming and it drains your energy if you let it get to you and I just don't want to push myself so far and spread myself so thin where I am just not wanting to do it anymore so thank you guys so much for understanding I hope you enjoyed this classroom tour of my second-grade classroom please stay tuned for upcoming teacher tips videos especially over the summer and I will see you guys soon bye
