you've read the title you know you're not dumb you know what's about to go down we're going to be using out of the park baseball 22 to re-simulate the last 10 years of major league baseball we're going to form an alternate history of the last decade there are going to be so many what-ifs that we get to find out what if player x didn't get hurt what if player y did get hurt what if this great team finally got over the hump and won a world series these are the questions we're gonna answer and that's i think it's important to keep in mind because you know i'm not interested in creating a universe where all the players that have been good for the last 10 years are still good they're just on different teams like this is truly an alternate history you're going to see players that you've never heard of turn into stars and you're going to see stars turn to players that you otherwise never would have heard of in this universe and i i think that's a very exciting thing now of course the tool we'll be using to do this is in fact the video game out of the park baseball 22 you don't need to be an out of the park baseball 22 you know expert or even someone who plays or owns the game at all to understand this video but that's what we'll be using it's a great in-depth game and i just want to give a quick shout out to at easyaxle alex sort of their tech support guru for helping me get this safe set up and hopefully it's gonna function as intended you know i've been going back and forth a few days on that but first i really want to answer the question you know going into this video what was major league baseball like in 2012 you know who are the great teams who are the great players and who should we be paying attention to you know in these initial first few seasons of the simulation coming into the 2012 season your world series defending champions were none other than the saint louis cardinals who defeated the texas rangers in an all-time classic world series in 2011. you can see names like john jay david freeze matt holiday allen craig carlos beltran or molina however there is one important name missing and that's because albert pulhols moved on that winter to the los angeles angel so this is pujols in his first year with the angels the angels also feature a young up-and-comer by the name of mike trout and it just seems like you know i'm not a baseball expert i'm not a huge prospect guy it seems like this is going to be a player that we want to pay attention to the best regular season team from that year was probably the philadelphia phillies the 2011 philadelphia phillies had one of the greatest modern rotations i think you'll see in mlb history and cliff lee cole hamills roy halliday vance worley was very involved kyle kendrick was very involved roy oswalt was also on that team although he moved on uh that winner but you know you see in the lineup names like victorino chase utley carlos reese chooch ryan howard jimmy rollins 100 pence like this was a really strong team and definitely one worth paying attention to at least in the early stages of this simulation the tigers were also really strong around this time and they were starting to build a super rotation of their own verlander scherzer porcello fister and of course with the offense it was all centered around miguel cabrera at that time probably the best player in the league and definitely the best hitter the dodgers were on the cusp of what would be just a very strong run that continues to this day you know last 10 years or so they've been the best regular season team you see names like a young clayton kershaw who in 2011 won his first cy young award he's established himself as a star by now here comes kenley janssen you know hoping to do the same for the closer position and then you look around and matt kemp was such a big piece for them in 2011 was mvp runner-up and honestly probably should have won of course the actual winner of that mvp award was none other than ryan braun and the brewers were a really strong team in 2011. they actually won the central the cardinals had to settle for a wild card spot so they had ryan braun they had luke croydon ramus ramirez nori aoki carlos gomez this was a strong team and they've got cranky they've got jovani gallardo they've got marco estrada pretty solid uh rotation especially with grenkey and one quirk with granky is that in this save he has already signed that seven year 144 million dollar deal that he originally inked with the dodgers however he's been assigned that contract but he's also a brewer so the brewers have this contract and it's very possible that zach cranky will spend the majority of this save as a milwaukee brewer the yankees were pretty good around this time but they were an aging team and that's important to keep in mind alex rodriguez robinson canoe curtis grander sinmark to share it derek jeter they were all there mariano rivera was there and then the rotation they had guys like cece sabathia rookie corroda phil hughes andy pettit even so you know this was the yankees still a good team world series champs in 2009 of course but getting a little bit up there in the years on some of those core players and the last team i'd like to preview real quickly is the san francisco giants world series champions in 2010 would go on to win the world series in 2012 and 2014 as well although it's yet to be seen if that feat will be repeated within this re-simulation of the last 10 years but brandon bell buster posey pablo sandoval milky cabrera brandon crawford and then the rotation matt kaine madison bumgarner and tim lindsey come and linda comes being one of those guys you know he has such a sort of what-if type career it'll be fun to sort of re-simulate tim lin's comes career from age 27 onward and see how he turns out you know because if he stays healthy he may have massively different career numbers than the real life tim wins to come who started to really fall off around this time so i just thought i'd take a look at some of the top hitters in the league around this time and just a heads up i will be using the stars for overall potential i know that's not 20 to 80. i know that's kind of like a noob thing to do but the reason i do is because i think it's just a little bit more visible for people who might be watching this on say a five inch phone screen so just a heads up on that these stars are not the bible you know these individual ratings are ultimately what matter more but so you're going to see some players who have not so great star ratings in this safe but they can still put up some really big numbers but in terms of four star or better hitters david writes one of them so he's going to be sort of a fun what if like what if he turns in a you know a real easy like first ballot hall of fame career in this that's a possibility you know mike trout who we talked about chooch carlos reese david ortiz yadier molina matt holiday and you'll see some quirky ones you know aaron hill he had a 143 ops plus in a smaller sample size but the game has sort of extrapolated that into uh some pretty nice ratings same thing with uh alan craig you know he had a 159 ops plus in 2011 with the cardinals so he's been made into a beast maybe he keeps that going prince fielder's a four-star guy miggy's a four-star guy although honestly just the hitting stats are gonna be phenomenal no matter what hopefully uh adrian beltray joey vado buster posey andrew mccutchen robinson cano ryan braun so these are sort of the big dogs in terms of hitters around the league we can look at starting pitchers as well and you've got guys like wainwright you've got guys like verlander cliff lee clayton kershaw felix hernandez and maybe surprising for some of you geo gonzalez but gio gonzalez had put some pretty good numbers in 2010 and 2011 so he's one of those guys that could really be a beast in this simulation with his in-game ratings a little bit below that tier you have guys like matt kane cueto darvish darvish actually a rookie in this so this will be darvish's rookie year um and you see some fun names too like josh johnson josh johnson was a beast he couldn't really stay healthy but he was a beast when he was healthy and so it'll be fun to see hey what kind of numbers can josh johnson put up now i do want to do a little bit of housekeeping for the people that are out of the park baseball fans so here are just a few settings of a note of how this save is going to play out one big one is that i'm using neutralized stats and the reason i'm using that is because when i didn't use neutralized stats it made the colorado rockies absolutely insane so basically what's happening was it was looking at the rocky's raw offensive numbers and then applying a player with those raw offensive numbers in a neutral ballpark to course so it was basically like double counting their offense so originally i was getting it to where the rockies were scoring like eleven hundred runs easily per year and i didn't really agree with that what the game has done to sort of try to counteract that's really kind of weird for me because you have these players like tulawitz use 27 and if he had these like full potential filled out you know he's gonna be like an mvp candidate every single year and he was of course an amazing player around this time but it's yet to be seen how exactly those neutralized stats will play out and of course you know the rockies are gonna be the team most affected by this so we've hit on the neutralized stats we've hit on the rockies being the problem child a few other key settings here you have injury frequency at normal so we're not doing high which is actually more realistic to modern day supposedly we're doing normal so there will be injuries and you know if a player suffers a catastrophic injury no pitcher has to get tommy john of course that's going to have an effect on their future and that's what sort of makes this an alternate history we also have better aging speed development speed same for pitchers at 0.750 this is going to allow certain players to hang around and also allow certain younger players to not immediately take the league by storm always so it's going to have sort of a balancing effect there talent change randomness 135 100 is sort of the default setting so we go 135 here because i enjoy the variance i don't want it to be so predictable you know if you do like a re-simulation with a lot of like other sports games let's say you do it in madden right you know aaron donald is gonna be amazing no matter what like it's like a guarantee and so the only joy of it is just to see what team aaron donald ends up with and i don't want to be like that you're going to see guys flame out there were big names you're going to see guys come out of nowhere and things like the talent change randomness things like the injury frequency their big tool in accomplishing that goal one final thing so the mechanism the game is gonna use to introduce new talent into the league is actually going to be an all-encompassing first-year player draft that is held at the conclusion of the season and so you're gonna see guys that would normally be draft eligible in real life like say you know americans coming from college but you're also going to see international amateurs and you know international pros that are playing at levels you know in like kbo and npb all in the same draft and that's going to be held annually at the conclusion of the season so with that in mind um given that this is spring training 2012 that actually the 2012 draft has already happened if that makes sense so the players that come out after the 2012 season will be for the 2013 season so just as a heads up like byron buxton he's a minnesota twin he has been assigned to the minnesota twins even though he wouldn't have been drafted until that summer um same thing with carlos correa like he is in the houston astros system so that's just a little heads up and actually speaking of the astros the houston astros i should note are in the nl central this was their last year in the nl central and i will manually move them over to the american league west at the conclusion of the 2012 season all right i went ahead and simulated to opening day 2012. so about a month just through spring training let's take a look at the prospect pipeline because these are the top 100 prospects at this moment this is the biggest talent currently populating the minor leagues and these are the guys that are gonna you know play huge into the next 10 years of this re-simulation you can just see all the names here real quick but let's focus in on some of the top ones number one is jacob degrom and look at a guy like jacob degrom all the potential in the world and yet so much room to grow so many things that could go right and yet also things that could go wrong and that story is going to be the joy of this simulation it's no guarantee that jacob degram is going to turn into the best picture in mlb that's not guaranteed in this universe that's what i really mean by alternate history like we're gonna get weird with it and then you're gonna see guys like jose fernandez like this is just a huge opportunity to see you know an alternate universe what is the career of jose fernandez look like you know in those first 10 years so this is going to be a lot of fun and it's prospects like this that are going to make this simulation a real joy even though i think some of you will be sort of you know pulling your hair out like ah it's so unrealistic how could this player be bad and this player be good no that's the fun let's get weird with it and finally one last thing before we get this show on the road because it is my universe and i am the commissioner and i am the supreme leader of this baseball universe the team that plays in cleveland will be known as the spiders under my watch now i don't have the wherewithal in me to go change this logo but just so you know this team for the next 10 years is known as the cleveland spiders alright i think it's time let's simulate until the end of may 2012 such as the first couple months of the season and see what's going on may 31st 2012 let me just say up front guys got a new microphone it sounds really good but i know the plosives are there i need to get a new windscreen or pop filter or whatever i know we'll just have to deal with it for now i won't record a baseball bits quite like this but top team by record through may tampa bay race and this is a really fun team because they have guys like here's jeff keppinger she's having an amazing year for the tampa bay rays as their first baseman he's been pretty good for them betting 298 ben zobrist going absolutely wild potential mvp candidate it looks like just in the early goings here evan longoria he looks really strong he's on pace for a six and a half four season and then you know in very like rey's fashion you have ruben rivera just kind of showing up in major league baseball at age 38 that's a very crazy thing to happen and he's been really good for them too of course the rotation you have david price he looks like he's set to be a cy young contender potentially with a 2.44 era also big game james james shields jeremy hellickson wade davis alex cobb jake magee in that bullpen with a .47 era and of course the fernando rodney experience afterwards so this is a fun team hopefully the rays will continue to do well also doing pretty well as the cleveland spiders at 28 and 22 they leave the central the rangers have opened up a four game lead in the west over the oakland athletics the east looks like it's gonna be really tight everyone's within three and a half games of each other in the central you have the brewers cardinals and reds all look really good so that's going to be an interesting competition and then in the west hey guess what it's the san diego padres with a 31-21 record let's see who they've got going on here they've got some chase headley they've got some carlos quentin they've got a young yasmani grand doll who looks like he's on his way to a pretty monster season maybe rookie of the year candidate we'll just have to see christinorffia remember him he's here so yeah some definitely some fun names here definitely a lot of remembering some guys let's look at some of the league leaders around you know just the the league and just the statistics joe mauer is leading batting average with a 384 very strong lead over adrian beltray at 359 mickey's leading homers chris davis leads rpi uh ops is led by cabrera with uh nearly 1100 so even though he's a four-star player it's he still seems to be you know probably the best hitter going right now stolen bases freddie guzman of the cleveland spiders interesting not too familiar with this player but he has stolen 31 bases um although he is a 91 ops plus guy so that's fun so he just pretty much steals whenever he gets on fun player there ben zobrist leads war with 3.3 we could also look at the pitching leaders as well era johnny cueto looking really good justin masterson looking really good uh felix hernandez chris medlen clint kershaw really fun guys here wade miley leads win uh wins felix hernandez leads innings pitched um you know who's leading war felix leads war as well so the king is uh is still going along it's gonna be fun to see how his career ends up on this save because i mean he was just an absolute monster around this time so those are your league leaders at the moment and i will catch up with you guys at the all-star break all right i'm here at the all-star break i thought it'd be nice to do injury news because injuries are going to be so important for this save um david price unfortunately looks like had surgery to remove bone chips on his elbow that's a four month injury so that sort of cuts his season short unfortunately if he comes back it would be you know coming back for like game seven of the world series so we'll see what happens there ryan dempster he has shoulder inflammation that started in may and r.a dicky looks like he suffered a pretty big elbow injury in february so he hasn't even pitched yet this year he may pitch at some point this year we'll have to see so those are your big injuries as far as pitchers go i'm curious about hitters if there's any uh big injuries to some of these star players looks like joe mauer has an injury oh yes very unfortunate for jill maurer torn pcl that is a 10-month injury so he was having just a monster season he was batting 384 before this injury through the first 40 games but joe maurer his season cut short and and potentially this is an injury that will have implications on his overall ratings and career which is a real shame joe maurer one of the top players in the league at this time but these injuries are important to keep in mind all right so it's time for the all-star game and a fun chance to look at the rosters here for that all-star game looks like felix hernandez is gonna start matt moore also has an asterisk next to his name so i don't know exactly how that works but i'm gonna guess felix fernandez starts he's having a phenomenal year with a 1.69 era but i would not sell matt more short he's coming in with a 1.51 era there was a time around you know maybe a few years before this where the top prospects in baseball were like harper trout matt moore pretty crazy so matt moore pretty big deal jared parker is definitely going to be a really fun guy to look at because he had some really good years as a young pitcher for the oakland a's around this time and then you know what happens to young pitchers sometimes is basically their arm explodes and so hopefully in this save his arm doesn't explode because he's a first-time all-star in this save that's a lot of fun uh joe maurer looks like would have gotten the start at catcher but they have some other catchers coming through chris ayonetta domet mike napoli salvi perez here's salvi perez as a rookie it appears making the all-star game well maybe not a rookie he looks like he just beat his um rookie eligibility in 2011 but young salvador perez he makes an all-star game robinson cano gets the start ahead of ben zobrist interestingly enough one thing this game does get right is that like cano at this moment would have been a much more nationally popular player and so that gives him an advantage in the voting jose bautista is going to be an all-star adrian beltray he's going to get a start sriba cabrera josh hamilton remember josh hamilton curtis granderson and look at here mike trout makes the all-star game he is you know on his way to having a phenomenal rookie year that mirrors his phenomenal rookie year he had in real life so those are your uh rosters keep them oh prince fielder two who doesn't love prince fielder who doesn't love miguel cabrera uh as far as nationally goes looks like kershaw's gonna get the start kershaw is just uh on a roll he's a monster he's clayton kershaw he's great he's probably going to be great all the time but you also see some fun names here lindsey come makes an all-star game he's having a phenomenal year so love to see that would love to see tim lindsey come just keep it going um let's see who else we got going on here vatos in an all-star matt carpenter's an all-star uh yasmani grand all we talked about him he's an all-star you've got guys like luke gregerson with a .40 era way to go luke gregerson way to go rafael bettencourt who's going to represent the the colorado rockies who as we have established they are the problem child unfortunately sorry rocky's fans um david freeze is an all-star that's fun uh aaron hill we talked about him his reigns are pretty crazy he's an all-star starling castro ryan zimmerman he's just retired but he's an all-star mccutcheon's having a great year looks like carlos gomez of the milwaukee brewers is having a phenomenal year on pace for uh like a nine more season so keep an eye on him here's giancarlo stanton he's on pace for 47 home runs he's doing giancarlo stanton things makes his first all-star game so those are your all-star rosters and uh yeah if these are gonna be fun to look at we're definitely looking at the all-star rosters every year all right i've zoomed forward here past the training deadline just to see if there's any trades we want to take a look at but as far as your standings go the rays have opened up a huge lead in the ales looks like they're gonna win that the twins now currently lead the al central so let's take a look let's meet the minnesota twins how's trevor plouffe doing trevor plouffe playing right field 96 ops plus but on pace for a 2.3 war season so trev putting in that work on defense way to go you also have josh willingham in that lineup ryan domets having a huge year i believe he was an all-star yeah he's having a monster monster year for those minnesota twins so noah is up at age 19. that's pretty crazy but yeah so despite the fact that joe mauer is injured the minnesota twins are doing pretty well so be interesting to see what goes on with them because they're actually the high scoring offense uh in the american league which is kind of surprising but yeah it looks like you know more knows having a he's having a decent year but yeah i'm interested to see how this team is putting together so many runs it must have just been a lot of joe mauer going on i guess um texas rangers have opened up a lead in the west of course they were a very very strong team at this time i don't know why we didn't look at them in the beginning but you know they're they're questing to uh win the pennant as they did in real life in 2012 and this is gonna be one of those teams where it's like wow can they get over the hump can they win a world series something that they were unable to do in the last 10 years but now they have a chance to in this uh re-simulation they've have ian kinsler going mitch moreland looks like he's having a solid year josh hamilton of course he's having a good year beltray's having just a monster year fantastic year for adrian beltray and you darvish as their rookie he hasn't been that great i know he's been hyping him up a lot but matt harrison like he was an all-star he was you know a pretty promising pitcher around this time so it's fun to see him pop off and they have a really good bullpen going right now it looks like with guys like joe nathan robbie ross and mike adams i'm not even entirely sure if i remember mike adams looks like he had some pretty good seasons but yeah this is just sort of the joy of uh you know this era of baseball you're seeing names that you kind of recognize but maybe you haven't heard in a while um you know look at elvis andrews their lead off hitter he's doing elvis andrews stuff so that's the rangers for you marlins surprisingly they lead the east um you know they're coming through with uh giancarlo uh hanley ramirez justin ruggiano ruggiano he's having a phenomenal year on pace for a six war season with the marlins love that josh johnson we talked about him he's having a monster year alaska was an all-star annie bal sanchez having a really good year this is a really good pitching team mark burley who doesn't love mark burley even though he's not having the best of years big z carlos sambrano he's having a great year so this is actually a really fun team excited to see what they do going forward if they can hold on to win that division brewers reds they're tight padres they keep leading the west so uh let's take a look at the reds because they've got scott rowland age 37 that's pretty fun but they've got that dude bp right there uh brandon phillips they have vatto uh who's having a pretty good year on pace for five and a half war as far as their pitching goes i mean that pitching looks really really really strong really really deep johnny cueto matt latos homer bailey mike league bronson arroyo just all having good years this is a really good pitching team from the cincinnati reds so that's who's leading uh their divisions at the moment rockies again i'm so sorry problem children however good news uh nolan arenado is up um too low not doing great however at least you know guys like carlos gonzalez cargo and uh charlie blackman are showing that even with these neutral uh you know ratings to you know form the stats like it is possible for rocky's hitters to succeed so hopefully you know the rockies aren't just gonna be like the worst team every year because of these settings we've chosen i think eventually it'll bounce out and actually the rockies you know will benefit from this first year player draft because they'll be able to add some like serious like franchise players if they keep uh not doing great so it may bounce out in the end for those rockies but yeah those that's a look around uh at the teams we should also take a look at the statistics take a look at the leaders milky cabrera leads batting average with a 384 that's pretty crazy milky cabrera followed by lukroy and miguel cabrera home runs that's led by miguel cabrera michael crowley's ops vato leads obp freddie guzman still leads stolen bases by a pretty solid margin ahead of uh d gordon and everett cabrera remember everett cabrera remember him he played for the padres cabrera yeah this is a lot of fun um ops leaders um yeah you have miguel you've got melky you've got jonathan lucroy monster year um mccutchen beltray and ryan domets some big offensive years for the catchers it seems and then carlos gomez leads war in all of major league baseball that's crazy miguel cabrera jonathan lew croy andrew mccutchen matt kemp ryan domet so um one thing with domit you know his catching ratings at a 40 pretty generous so that's definitely helping him out here is that he's he can almost play catcher whereas in in real life he was i mean his framing stats were ridiculous and and not in a good way johnny cueto leads era kershaw leads war in this game where he's tied with bumgarner in this game they use f4 just as a heads up so that's going to be based on fip um josh johnson leads innings pitched he's passed felix hernandez in that category we're saved luke ryderson leads saves steve seashek ryan cook sergio romo david hernandez sean marshall so some fun names there you darvish is leading strikeouts per nine where's where's overall strikeouts that's felix leads that followed by darvish and kershaw so some fun names popping up here i'm really enjoying this tim lindsey come thing i hope tim lindsey can keep it up because this has been a lot of fun to watch but yeah those are your league leaders those are what the standings look like and uh yeah let's take a look at some trades see if there's interesting trades that happen now that we're past the trade deadline all right i looked at the trades not the most interesting trade deadline but there were a couple that are maybe worth mentioning the cardinals have themselves what appears to be a new closer in joe smith who they have acquired from the cleveland spiders in return they sent over a couple of prospects but maybe joe smith will help them as they try to push uh you know make this final playoff push in that nl central also um it looks like tommy kanely uh as a prospect has been trade to houston so he is now a prospect for houston um alongside with minor league first baseman matt schneider uh in return the yankees received right-handed pitcher wilton lopez and vince velasquez so those guys are going to be yankees not the most interesting trade deadline not really a blockbuster there but that's just a heads up those are a couple trades that have gone down in this simulation all right we're here at the end of the 2012 regular season and it looks like the playoff picture is all shaped up except for that final american league wild card spot it's between the oakland athletics and the chicago white sox interestingly they're both around 500 so there's a lot of sort of like just around just below 500 teams in the american league it looks like for this to happen but it's gonna be white sox versus athletics athletics do hold the game in hand so for the white sox it's just about can they force game 163 let's simulate that last day of the season and it looks like the white sox lose so the athletics will grab that second wild card spot with an 81 and 81 record that solidifies the playoff picture tampa bay raised they win 101 games they're the best team in the regular season easily winning the east tigers win the central with the twins grabbing a wild card spot rangers win the west with the athletics driving wild card spot nationals win the east let's take a look at the nationals they have a little fellow by the name of bryce harper going this is his rookie year he hit 18 triples i'm only reading that because it's bolded that means it led the national league at least uh ryan zimmerman looks like had a really really monster year for the nationals gio gonzalez we talked about him strasbourg he's in the mix there uh you know you've got some fun names here remember adam laroche and laroche had a pretty good year remember danny espinosa i mean it wasn't a great year but he played remember danny espinoza jason wirth ian desmond ian desmond had a really good year for the washington nationals so that's your nle's champions reds win the central poor milwaukee brewers milwaukee brewers they can't get a wild card with 88 wins but the oakland a's can with 81. that's kind of funny uh giants they win the west so giants you know they have a chance to win the 2012 world series just as they did uh in real life and then the arizona diamondbacks they grab a wild card spot good for them they've got goldschmidt they've got adam eaton they've got aaron hill justin upton looks like he had a solid year um ian kennedy trevor cahill and a rookie trevor bauer coming through um you know started 16 games for them made 29 appearances total so pretty fun there david or hernandez jj puts brad ziegler patrick corbin in the bullpen young patrick corbin so this is kind of a fun bullpen too um steven drew remember steven drew i feel like i'm just gonna be just saying remember this whole time but yeah that's your actual playoff picture set up let's look at the um final leaders statistically in all the categories like who led in war who led in well batting average was led by buster posey followed by miguel and melky cabrera beltray juan pierre juan pierre that's fun travis schneider miguel cabrera hits 49 home runs 145 rpi miguel cabrera wow he was really really close to winning another uh triple crown there um he leads ops followed by beltre posey domet john carlo and andrew mccutchen mike trout leads war with 8.5 he's a rookie that's fun it does seem like um this mvp award is gonna once again come down to these two and it seems like cabrera's gonna win if i had to guess i'm gonna guess cabrera wins it uh posey uh mccutcheon kemp stanton those are your other war leaders freddie guzman steals 91 bases that's a lot of bases freddie guzman way to go uh joey vado leads on base percentage i love on base percentage uh johnny cueto he he gets the era crown 2.08 followed by king felix clayton kershaw tim lindsey come chris medlen matt moore that's fun uh clayton kershaw leads war by uh 1.4 looks like he may be on his way to a national league cy young award um saves led by sergio romo we talked about the giants there back in the playoffs and uh yeah so that's that's just a look at um your league leaders now that the regular season is over and now we can move on to the postseason see who comes out on top in 2012. a couple injuries to key players of note gotta feel bad for those texas rangers as they chase down a world series because they're not gonna be able to do that with ian kinsler tauren meniscus he's going to be out uh until december so he's his year is done josh hamilton he has himself a partially torn labrum injury so seems like he's going to miss the playoffs as well so if the rangers pull it off they're going to do it without the help from those guys let's take a look and see if there's any interesting like starting pitchers that have suffered injuries of note um you know that's obviously an injury prone position uh zac drankie has an injury but i don't think the brewers made the playoffs so it doesn't really matter too much david price we talked about his wainwright bone chips elbow matt kane shoulder inflammation three months and then all right dickie we talked about him so you know the injuries are going that's part of the game but that's also just an element of randomness that's going to make this re-simulation really interesting all right here's the playoff tree for those of you who don't know 2012 is actually the first year to feature two wild card spots so this is the debut of that you know winner take all wild card one and done type of game so that's going to be the marlins versus the diamondbacks in the national league and the a's and the twins let's see who advances twins advance in the american league and the marlins advance to the national league so we have rays twins tigers rangers giants reds marlins nationals let's keep it going here so you can come out on top in these division series raise advance national sweep the marlins their division rivals uh reds advanced three to one over the giants so there will be no 2012 giants winning the world series and then in game five versus the tigers and rangers it is the rangers who advance so your final four rays rangers reds nationals this is pretty fun let's see what happens here in these championship series two to two here two to one here the race take game five so they're up three to two these two are matt are tied up so it's going to be really interesting here raise advance raisin six they advance to the world series this is gonna go to a game seven here between the reds and the nationals and is going to be the nationals who come out on top so you have a raise versus nationals world series in 2012. we have looked a bit at the nationals their playoff rotation currently features gio gonzalez steven strasberg edwin jackson and ross detweiler jordan zimmermann injured or else it seems like he would have been part of that as well but yeah we talked about their hitters roger bernadina is gonna be your starting center fielder for the nationals for during this uh world series have fun roger bernadita in your world series tampa bay race we talked about them they've dominated all year they won 101 games they don't have david price they don't have jeremy hellickson so that's gonna be really interesting but really strong bullpen really strong performances from matt moore especially but james shields has been good as well alex cobway davis and then i mean ruben rivera i just can't get over reuben rivera just showing up out of nowhere that's a lot of fun they got matt joyce that's my jesus aguilar impression zobrist had a really good year i mean he's just a monster longoria elliott johnson batting leadoff i mean this is so this is so crazy this is so crazy so 2012 nationals versus the raise who's gonna come out on top in this world series race take game one nationals game two um ray's now up three to one so three to one lead for the race can they win their first world series in team history yes they can raise in five that's right folks in 2012 the tampa bay race are world series champions and i think it's well deserved they were just a really dominant team all year your world series mvp is the catcher elizir alfonso well look at that world series mvp although honestly if it were up to me might have given it to big game james he started two games pitched brilliantly in both of them so yeah there you go but that's the tampa bay rays they are the world series champions so now the off season begins and the off season is a very important time we're just a few days away from that first year player draft i was talking about but let's go through awards let's go see who won all the awards this year here are your american league gold glove winners not a ton of surprises here i mean a lot of these guys were just really good fielders around this time jackie bradley jr comes up and wins a gold glove in left field brennan ryan i mean he was he was a monster with the glove he was so good at shortstop kyle seeger grabs himself a gold glove award at the age of 25. jamil weeks mark ducher so some fun names there moving on here to the national league placido polanco clint barnes wow fun matt kemp wins one in left field that's pretty cool carlos gomez we talked about him monster year for him jason hayward he grabs one in right field and he's gonna be one of those players where you know you look at the season he's had like he could have a really monster career um you know in the across these next 10 years paul goldschmidt yeah molina clayton kershaw brent phillips fun names fun names all right here's reliever of the year that goes to robbie ross i couldn't tell you much about robbie ross but he is your american league reliever of the year with a 2.05 era uh yeah good for him texas ranger jake mcgee was up there as well i think we had 97 strikeouts and seven walks joe nathan also gets a first place vote in the national league sergio romo unanimous good for him 39 saves that led the national league 1.62 era for the san francisco giants sean marshall and wesley wright they follow up with second and third respectively here is the uh silver sluggers for the american league you've got domet cabrera zobrist beltray struel cabrera uh josh hamilton mike trout cody ross of the boston red sox shouts to cody ross he has himself a silver slugger and then prince fielder national league mike leake awesome buster posey monster you're hitting 352. freddie freeman very nice aaron hill ryan zimmerman ian desmond matt kemp andrew mccutchen john carlos stanton i wonder if kemp's going to win mvp in the national league he's got a chance mccutcheon is going to be up there too i imagine let's see um so rookie of the year unanimous josh donaldson third baseman for the oakland athletics he comes up he has a 133 ops plus and 5.4 war he is your unanimous american league rookie of the year and it's unanimous in the national league as well yasmani grandal he comes up catcher for the san diego padres slashes 290 368 501 and petco for a 138 ops plus 5.8 war um your runners up there charlie blackman and bryce harper your runners up in the american league where will myers joanna cespedes you darvish and barbaro canizares couldn't tell you a lot about that guy it looks like he played in the brave system interestingly enough but um barbaro kanezara kanazarez a first baseman uh did well for the minnesota twins and uh let's see here manager of the year joe madden he's also the world series winner davey johnson of the nationals who won the pennant he's your national league manager of the year king felix grabs himself a cy young award love that for king felix as his second following the 2010 cy young award which i actually have a video about on my channel but he grabs his second saiyan award with a monster season oh my gosh 211 era plus 2.12 era way to go king felix i mean he could have just a monster career in this justin verlander awesome love that too he comes through with a 3.01 era he strikes out 217 batters he's your runner-up he gets a couple first place votes justin masterson here's a fun fact about justin masterson uh he was born in jamaica that's pretty cool thing about justin masterson although he does not look like this um justin masterson uh for the cleveland spiders had a really good year you darvish he actually looks like he really heated up in the second half of the season um matt moore james shields matt harrison david price max scherzer cy young award is going to be won by kershaw in the national league i think we predicted that he had a monster season he leads innings pitch strikeouts war uh johnny cueto he led era so he had a phenomenal season as well some really strong pitching performances here lens to come gets a couple first place votes lincecum had a good year he's keeping it going gio gonzalez we talked about him uh at the beginning of this like he has just really good ratings in this chris medlen looking very strong with the 2.36 era ian kennedy matt latos madison bumgarner okay uh outstanding player award this is your mvp award who's gonna win in the american league miguel cabrera unanimous so there you go miguel cabrera wins unanimous mvp you know if i were a voter i would have totally gone for him beltray doment trout zobrist prince fielder very good year for prince fielder with a 141 ops plus 910 ops i'm surprised trout did not get runner-up i mean cabrera had a monster year two domet broken bronin elbow though five months we'll see what happens with ryan domit but he had been really good i want to see what like positions ryan domit was playing because he can play some outfield but his catcher ratings are i would say a bit maybe inflated compared to like how he played the position in real life looks like he actually split pretty evenly between catrin outfield so and uh you know perhaps most importantly i mean he just absolutely raked i mean my goodness 152 ops plus so i'll lay off ryan domit that was a phenomenal year for him josh hamilton showing up down ballot evan longoria robinson cano austin jackson i love dawson jackson man what great he his first just a few years in the league were really good um yeah really strong year for austin jackson here when you whenever you have like a 400 obp and you know you play a really quality center field like he can i mean that's going to be a monster year billy butler country breakfast he had a really good year for the royals david ortiz he had a very david ortiz type of year good for him alejandro de aza i barely remember him but he had a six war year for the white sox in center field that's pretty crazy okay national league who do we think won i'm gonna say kemp but let's see oh posey wins and kemp doesn't even get a first place vote so i'm way off i kind of forgot about posey but yeah definitely deserve buster posey he grabs himself a a 2012 mvp which hey that actually happened in real life in real life he was the national league 2012 mvp with a historical season and actually this is pretty darn close to what that was so shout outs to otp it got that pretty good so uh butcher posey he's your uh 2012 nlmvp jean-carlos stanton got some first place votes he led slugging mccutcheon did really well kirsha actually gets a couple first place votes that's fun and then matt kemp had a really good season of course we talked about him milky cabrera he was in contention for a batting title for a lot of this some of your down ballot guys we talked about uh carlos gomez he had a seven war season so even though he led off a little bit at the end he had he had a pretty monster year in 2012. ryan braun we haven't talked about too much but he had a five war season wasn't able to repeat but still had a pretty good season on his own justin i still don't know if it's ruggiano ruggiano i barely remember him but yeah this is one of those cases where the game is extrapolating from um sort of like a really good like aaa exam for example in 2011 and i believe he had like some small sample really good performances with the marlins but not maybe quite a full season like this so gonna be a fun player to pay attention to the marlins which is sort of fun this year in general freddie freeman he was a silver slugger winner he picked up uh looks like a maybe like a 10th place vote so those are your awards all around the league and we're gearing up for this first year player draft which is gonna feed a lot of talent into this league so stay tuned for that all right let's talk about this first year player draft which is going to be the mechanism the game uses to feed new talent into the league on a yearly basis it's going to be held just after the season concludes but before salary arbitration and free agency filings so what you have in this draft is not just players that would be draft eligible around this time right you don't just have you know american canadian puerto ricans who have at least completed high school and are now draft eligible you also have international amateurs you have you know young teenagers from you know places like dominican republic or venezuela and then in the case of someone like hyunjin ryu you also have someone who's older who's 25 who's already been playing in one of the top leagues you know coming over around the time that he would have you know made his mlb debut so we talked a little bit about that 2012 draft i know this draft is taking place within the calendar year of 2012 but the 2012 draft is complete and everyone is kind of where they should be that byron buxton is a minnesota twin for example let's let's just keep that in mind so these guys right here like marco gonzalez brad keller these are actually like 2013 draft guys and they'll be coming in alongside 2012 international amateur like guys who would have you know july 2nd date guys so i know it's a little bit confusing but everyone is coming into the minor leagues around the time they normally would have so that's just the mechanism that's going to be used the starting pitching class is pretty good marco gonzalez and hyunjin ryu definitely the highlights chad green comes in as a starting pitching prospect and if this change up develops like he could turn into a really good starting pitcher even though in real life he's been a a big time reliever as far as like the international amateurs go like pablo lopez um is definitely a standout he could be fun to look at jaime berea 16 year old from panama so there's just some guys but the strength is definitely here with the hitters because in this draft class you have cody bellinger right he was in the 2013 draft tim anderson chris bryant jeff mcneal and then you know below that you have hunter dozier adam frazier and then some international guys that are fun too like amid rosario was a huge key for that july 2nd like 2012 like that class like he got a lot of money uh oscar mercado is pretty fun too so i will say with these guys that have the asterisks they don't necessarily have to like sign like it's possible that bellinger will get drafted but not sign i see assignability is extremely hard in which case he will probably show up in the next year's draft but yeah we're about to get this draft underway and let's take a look at the draft order because this is where the balancing effect sort of happens we talked about the rockies how they're the problem child well they've got a chance to add a pretty great talent to their team right now and i suspect what they may actually do is go just ahead and just add a hyunjin ryu you know they could just go for that and they would just have like a really really good starting pitcher ready to go at the major league level and that's sort of the benefit of getting him but you know they could also go for bellinger or bryant or someone like that but yeah so it's going to be reverse order in terms of wins and yeah that's that's how we're gonna keep it it's dead simple we've uh alex and i have put in some work to sort of get rid of like the compensation picks because the problem is like we don't want teams stack piling draft picks because draft picks are just insanely valuable in this so it's gonna be fun to see how this draft shapes up and what players end up with what teams alright the draft is now complete i meant to do these first few picks one by one but i accidentally simulated the whole thing but as i predicted the rockies actually went with ryu which i think is a perfectly fine pick he's gonna come up and i mean she's looking at his ratings he's gonna instantly be one of the better pitchers in the league so that's a fun pick for them the baltimore orioles get cody bellinger they still have to sign cody bellinger so that's no guarantee but look at cody bellinger in his ratings right like he's 17 he's got a long way to grow he could turn into an absolute monster but he might not and that's just sort of the fun ryu is a much safer pick because he's basically a finished product marco gonzalez goes to the pirates chris bryant goes to the astros jeff mcneal to the mariners tim anderson to the cubs chad green to the spiders uh brad keller goes to the royals hey that's pretty appropriate nick pavetted to the mets pablo lopez to the blue jays you can just take a look at these first few rounds here if you want to see you know who did my favorite team end up with uh we'll go to the second round here here's what the second round looked like some interesting names here still for sure tony kemp dustin fowler mitch garver definitely an interesting name pretty monster offensive catcher at least in terms of his potential here's the third round hello mike talkman you are a san diego padre hello steven brault who i interviewed at spring training you are a minnesota twin fourth round here zach granted if you're a real one you'll know that zach granite is an otp legend um and other interesting names here well cigna floop stock is obviously an interesting name louis thorpe he's a ranger and then fifth round mike ford to the cubs frazier to the white sox that's pretty fun luis torenz to the nationals i'm just shouting out names that look interesting to me but yeah that's what the draft looked like this year at mundo sosa but yeah that's the draft and um that's the how the new talent is going to be fed into the league every year just following the conclusion of the season arbitration is over free agents have filed and your top three agents are matt kemp ryan braun ryan zimmerman miguel montero adrian gonzalez color series chooch dustin pedroia big game james shields nick marchachus strubel cabrera curtis granderson david wright now i don't know for sure like how accurate these this contract data is you know for example i go look at someone like pujols right who just signed a monster deal you know in this scenario he's actually due to become a free agent after the 2016 season we know that's not accurate we talked about the green key thing earlier so i don't know if it's like every single one of these players like was a free agent or was going to be a free agent around this time but just letting you guys know these are the free agents these are the guys that are up for grabs and it's going to be really interesting to see like who they end up with i know people are going to be really interested in david wright especially because we talked about you know the potential to see david wright become maybe like a a first ballot hall of famer in this simulation by the time it's over he put down a 4.4 war year with a 115 ops plus good but but he can do better we know he's capable of better than that but yeah some really top tier players like kemp and braun hitting free agency like like that's really interesting i just didn't realize that um you know braun's service time would work out like that like but i guess it i guess it adds up for the most part if he was like on the opening day roster in 2007 then yeah it would work that way um but yeah so there you go those are the free agents i don't know how jank it is but um yeah that's that's who the teams are going to be bidding on this winter we're here at january 23rd 2013 so we're now in 2013. this is the day that hall of fame voting results come out for those interested so i guess we can take a look at that but a couple trades that have happened this off season looks like chicago cubs have traded andrew kashner who looks pretty strong as a starting pitcher potentially and eduardo escobar who looks like he has some serious potential in this save starting to develop for taylor rogers so interesting trade it looks like the twins may come out on top of that but we'll see what happens with edwardo escobar i like him on the twins because you know he played for them in real life another interesting trade some guys were moved but basically the headline of this is that colton wong is going to be a tampa bay ray he's no longer a cardinal so keep an eye out for colton wong now in the tampa bay race system uh be asked those are just a couple trades from this off season and let's just go take a head uh take a look at some of these uh free agent signings because a lot of the top guys have signed already we'll just go look and see some of these deals um ryan zimmerman is going to be in atlanta brave sorry about that nationals fans i know it's a tough sight for you ryan braun is a dodger also very gross matt kemp is a chicago cub for some reason i don't hate that but he's a chicago cub david wright is an arizona diamondback for the next six years um you can see years and uh total contract amount right here by the way for those of you curious um huge carlos ruiz he's also an arizona diamondback so the diamondbacks have definitely made some moves adam jones signs a seven-year deal with the san francisco giants at 10 million aav that's like kind of like an aaron hicks type of deal right there uh james shields he goes to the angels because the angels have to sign whoever's the top starting pitcher no matter what uh jj puts i don't know why i'm saying him just because he's the most recent but he goes to kansas city along with reuben rivera tampa bay ray's legend ruben rivera so um still out there adrian gonzalez alex gordon's a free agent eric a free agent mark burley is a free agent again some of this free agency is like jank there might have been like you know extensions um not being recorded here but just letting you guys know these are the free agents still available and those where some of the top guys have signed so i'll check back in with y'all uh later but actually no let's look at the let's look at the hall of fame voting results let's take a look at that just out of sheer curiosity what's going on there uh sosa was inducted that's really fun sammy sosa is gonna be a hall of famer in this um so is kurt schilling very interesting to see those guys go first ballot um you know this is a case where the game is definitely just looking at their numbers and maybe not making you know other assumptions about you know their character or you know whether they played fairly or not but yeah barry bonds gets in to the hall of fame that's fun roger clemens gets into the hall of fame so these guys in their first year that all stuck around to their 10th year they get in uh and then you know piazza biggio uh lee smith jeff bagwell they're around it's interesting just uh i i haven't noticed this with a historical says but all these guys it's like their clock starts over and they're all in their first year on the ballot and just yeah the game doesn't seem to have contextualized um you know the steroid era too much and these they're just being let in on the merit of their numbers which you know what i mean there's a lot of people that would advocate for that so that's kind of fun so it'd actually be really interesting to see how the hall of fame shapes up in this i can't help but notice that mr larry walker has 16.8 percent so we'll definitely be rooting for him all right i've fast forwarded here to spring training it is now february 27 2013. we have made it through the first year of this 10-year simulation so i thank you all for watching and enjoying this with me alex gordon remains as the strongest free agent left he was pretty like average last year it looks like he may have actually been i'm just looking at this like no i mean that's that's six years right there so um i think the game isn't like super specific with service time so i think it just seems like for these guys like once they finish six seasons they're gonna be made free agents and you know it's if the cpu doesn't happen to extend them within the last year then they become free agents so i'm starting to sort of figure this out and um adrian gonzalez is going to be a colorado rocky he has recently signed a five-year deal with them worth 62 million dollars what i want to actually do is look at off-season summary by team because this is really cool because it can show you like how teams have added war or lost war throughout the off-season so the team that's added the most war is actually going to be the chicago cubs they have added matt kemp they've added chase headley diana navarro um they lost giovanni soto uh andrew cashner paul mulholland dave dejesus uh jose cabrera retired but they've definitely added some talent to their team the detroit tigers have also added and they're unlike the cubs who went 74 and 88 like the tigers are pretty solid um i'm surprised they only went 84 and 78 to be honest with you but uh they had uh angel pagan um that's kind of their big ad and they just didn't really lose anyone i mean they lost brandon inge but he was not a huge contributor for them by any means uh the guys that have lost war um padres rays yankees marlins this is gonna be a case where you know they may still have guys that can go back and like re-sign later if that makes sense so we don't know if this is gonna be like the final tally necessarily but here's the marlins they haven't signed anybody you know they may be in the bad financial position i mean they've lost in the last go to free agency they've lost anybody sanchez to free agency they've lost mark burley to free agency i mean marlins fans i hate to say it but you know this has kind of happened to your team before um they lost this guy named donnie murphy who put up a two war season and they lost carl sambrano so i mean that that rotation has just been absolutely decimated by free agency this off season um and i just i can't imagine they had the money to resign those guys race have just added a couple of relievers but they've lost big game james they've lost reuben rivera they lost fernando rodney they lost their world series mvp lisa alfonso um let's take a look at the new york yankees as well if we can they add tim fedorowitz man i mean can you imagine yankees fans like they go 79 and 83 and then this is the offseason they have like people would be flipping out but uh they traded eric chavez uh interestingly enough we can take a look at the details of that russell martin curtis granderson gone in free agency freddie garcia boone logan what was this trade uh so oh yeah okay so they received tim for dorwitz and also a uh prospect matt laney but yeah so eric chavez becomes a uh a los angeles dodger was there another team you wanted to look at yeah the padres the padres uh after having a 500 year they do add dexter fowler via trade with colorado we can take a look at that but they lose carlos quinn they lose cameron may been they lose chase headley they use crystal morphia they lose houston street let's look at this trade though this happened uh just very recently dexter fowler traded i mean this is a pretty good player coming off like a four war year for colorado i hope colorado got something good for this they get this starting pitching prospect he looks pretty solid to me and then they get this shortstop prospect um okay i don't absolutely hate that i don't know what the contract is okay he only had one year left it looks like um so i don't hate that too much for colorado um they were the worst team in uh baseball but they do add hyunjin ryu so it'll be interesting to see what happens there but yeah we're gearing up for spring training here in 2013 and looking forward to the season we're here on opening day just taking a look at these cubs right here and they're really starting to put it together they may start to contend you know in the mid 2010s just as they did in real life although the shape of that team is definitely going to be different they're not going to have chris bryant for example but starlin castro chase headley matt kemp anthony rizzo javier baez has some really nice ratings coming along he just came off a four war season in 2012 so yeah that that lineup is starting to come together um the rotation could use some work it's not perfect they do have a young kyle hendricks though who seems like may become their ace but keep an eye out for the cubs this year i do want to take a look at just sort of you know a year later who are our top players in the league so let's look at some just top batters around the league at this moment robinson canoe and buster posey are your five star players uh followed by mike trout joey vado miguel cabrera is up there cargo's up there bryce harper's up there jason hayward aaron hill matt holiday jonathan lucroy joe maurer he has six weeks until he can return from that torn pcl and hopefully he hits the ground running because man he was just on a roll to start 2012 it was such a shame he suffered such a big injury andrew mccutchen giancarlo stanton javi baez joey bats these are sort of your strongest hitters at the moment um we can talk about starting pitchers as well who are your top starting pitchers of the month we have king felix we have kershaw darvish gio gonzalez cliff lee david price ryu who the rocky's just added in that first year player draft verlander bumgarner cueto cranky hamills josh johnson matt latos a lot of three and a half start guys but yeah these are sort of your top guys chris sale we haven't talked about too much but chris sale had a pretty good year last year for the white sox um it was his first year starting 30 games started 176 innings pitched uh 136 era plus 4.6 war struck 177 guys so chris sale starting to emerge as someone who could you know potentially be a top starter you know for the next decade so keep an eye out on him we can also talk about prospects because it's been another year so let's take a look at prospects jacob degrom now at age 24. he is the um top prospect in baseball still looks like he had a pretty good season in triple-a and he may be knocking on the door like hopefully makes his debut debut this year in 2013 for the mets his movement is going to be really important he's his stuff his control they're getting close to mlb average but the movement needs to come up roads he's just going to allow a ton of home runs but he could get there he's 24. we'll see what happens with jacob degrom anthony rendon uh of the nationals he actually debuted for them uh looks like in september played in 20 games but he's starting to have some really good ranks if his contact comes out he'll be like you know a superstar so rindon's uh big time prospect there's ryu garrett cole on the pirates this guy named mookie betts who for some reason is assigned first base looks like he's just been playing everywhere because he has infield ratings and he has i don't know why his outfield range is 50. that's huge for his um development because he's not going to be at least defensively he's not going to be the mookie bets we know and love but you know what that's just part of the game sometimes so uh mookie betts uh looks like he's gonna make his debut this year he's still a phenomenal hitter it's gonna be interesting to see how that power develops but mookie betts of the red sox uh if you ever heard of him uh he actually played for the red sox before he played for the dodgers just so you know it's a little known thing in baseball yelich and real muto they're on the marlins so you know the marlins lost some talent but they may gain some at the major league level this year with these guys trevor story you know those rockies they've got trevor's story going you know we never know what's gonna happen they are the problem child chris bryant on the astros we talked about him he actually comes into this like pretty close to mlb ready like he'll probably play in 2013 even though you know in real life his rookie year was like 2015 so yeah that's just kind of part of it i mean he he's gonna make his debut in this potentially before like his actual draft date in real life it's just a heads up on that marco gonzalez rounds out the top ten he was also in that first year player draft and uh the fact that the pirates have cole and marco gonzalez i think that that bodes pretty well for them uh here's the rest of your top 100 for those interested you see some interesting names for sure i see gordano ventura i see cody bellinger so cody bellinger did indeed sign with the baltimore orioles gonna be interesting to see how he develops for them i see tim anderson on the cubs i see tyler skaggs i see yasiel puig i see max fried i see machado there machado looks like has um you know entered a bit of a rough patch in his development and he might not turn into the superstar that he really has been for the last decade so just heads up but you know what as as a person like machado maybe falls off and becomes just like a slightly above average major leaguer there's gonna be new superstars that emerge that's the alternate history and that's the joy of the simulation rounding off your top 100 are enduring crt max kepler no double herrera so there you go oh josh hater too let's look at josh hader he's an oriole that's kind of fun there's josh hader but yeah those are your top prospects those are your top players around the league and i'm looking forward to see this season you know getting the show on the road one feature of this game that i should have highlighted before like a year ago around this time is the preseason prediction so the game can actually run like a mini simulation of the season itself to sort of generate preseason predictions so as of right now the game predicts the race to win the east the white sox and the tigers to tie in the central that would be really interesting and then the oakland athletics to win the west well i should remember to move uh the astros over to the west i'm going to go do that real quick right after this braves are projected to win the nl east cardinals projected to be the best team in baseball with 102 wins and the giants projected to win the west some of your top players looks like cabrera beltray who's now playing maybe first base it looks like for the rangers that's interesting trout michael brantley uh edwin carnaccione pictures the american league price sale darvish sabathia pv was on the white sox top hitters potentially in the national league these are just predictions these are not the full season stats this is just what the game thinks is going to happen cargo and charlie blackman so that's a pretty cool core for the rockies freddy freeman ryan braun bryce harper uh clayton kershaw cliff lee madison bumgarner lance lin geo gonzalez i'm curious just to look at the cardinals who this uh the game thinks is gonna win 102 games yeah i mean they've just pretty much still got the band together like this is pretty much the core of that 2011 winning team and they have and now they have wayne right they have lance lynn they have jake westbrook that's pretty fun brandon mccarthy carlos but yeah rawfield for call still going strong at age 35. molina is still you know a beast he's coming off of like a six war season so uh that's a look at your cardinals i'm also really curious about the um i want to look at the white sox a little bit closer um they have juan pierre they have uh alejandro de aza who we talked about had a monster season for them kinerico's still there um rios is there brzezinski's there uh gordon beckham's there alexei is there they have simeon now uh coming up he would have been pretty young yeah he's 22 in this at the moment so and then we talked about sale pv also the game really likes pv he had a pretty solid year in 2012 as well so there you go that's just a look at uh how the game thinks this season is going to shape up but we don't know for sure if that's what it's going to be like oh hey scott rowland by the way like a pretty solid four worst season in 2012 so he's 37 about to be 38 still going strong first two months of the season are done the teams have played about 45 games each it's may 31st 2013. let's see who's coming out on top wow seattle mariners out of nowhere with a start of 30 and 15 already opening up a seven and a half game lead in that aos that's gonna definitely be a team to look at tigers and royals are tied in the central red sox currently lead the east marlins we talked about the marlins they lost some guys but they also get to add some guys like yelich and ralmuto brewers lead the central giants lead the west i'm really curious to look at these seattle mariners because we don't think we've looked at them once yet this save king felix of course having another monster year at least a monster start to the year hopefully you can keep it going and oh james paxton has now emerged uh the 24 year old left-handed pitcher from canada he's having a really good start to this season so he could be definitely instrumental for them eric bedard gosh this guy was such a beast back in the day too he's having a really good season so far so this is a pretty fearsome rotation a lot of strikeouts to be had here and then rasmus ramirez even really good 3.11 era but you have chris taylor chris taylor was originally a seattle mariner before he ended up with the dodgers uh dustin ackley big time draft pick back in the day um looks like he's on pace to be maybe a league average player at second base kyle seeger he won his first gold glove last year he's on pace for four war justin smoke seth smith michael saunders will venable a lot of lefties in this um g-man choi playing catcher um that's just something that can happen i've noticed um there's like fringy catcher guys like i had to change the catcher ratings for for for example um like josh donaldson i didn't want him playing catcher long term i didn't want carlos santana doing it i definitely didn't want pablo sandoval doing it so i imagine g-man choi played catcher at some point in the miners or in korea even so um yeah he comes in with like catcher ratings of 50 billion 50 arm i think what i'm gonna do is i'm actually gonna edit that and maybe you know uh mayor's player or mariners fans will say well you're sabotaging the team but hey man like um you know i want it to be a little bit realistic because what can happen is you know these guys come in with like crazy catcher ratings and it just throws off the whole catcher position because obviously troy can hit you know and so i just want to make sure that the good catchers are the good catchers and by that i mean you know molina posey it's just the guys that are naturals at the position so that's the one position i've been editing defensively i did it with sandoval did it with carlos santana um you know just a couple other guys josh donaldson because they're just they're just not really catchers i mean i know santana played some in the majors but not really dude not really so there you go they'll have to figure out that catcher position they could still play him there he's just not going to be league average he's going to be well below average which i think is fair um but yeah let's look at your mariners sorry for sabotaging your team mariners but i've sabotaged other teams the same way i'm curious to look at the marlins because i want to see is um nope no no jtl ramudo yet no no christian yells yet at least um at least not in the main lineup so far let's take a look at um boston because we haven't looked at boston too much but boston uh they signed mark burleigh this offseason the the starting pitching hasn't quite come together too much for them but it seems like they're just scoring a lot of fronts and indeed they've scored 293 runs so far they have an 849 team ops that's crazy i mean ortiz is off to an insane start to the season look at him 191 ops plus on pace for nine war playing first base alex gordon they signed him he's off to a crazy start to the season jacoby ellsberry he's doing pretty good um they've added mookie bets now he's playing second base for them which is pretty cool because that's actually the position he um was originally supposed to play jared saltomakia is having a huge season will middlebrook so this could be like a really really fun team and the red sox won the world series somewhat surprisingly in 2013 so we'll be curious to see if they can keep it up because that lineup is really clicking right now i don't know too much about like marquez smith um but he's having like a phenomenal start to everyone's just hitting on this boston red sox team so let's take a look at some of these uh league leaders as well around the league we don't have to look at it for too much because it's very early but ortiz leads average stanton leads ops zobrist leads on base percentage earth cabrera leads stolen bases let's look at pitching leaders um bumgarner 0.69 era very nice he leads war as well steve seashek leads saves he's on miami uh we're strikeouts you darvish lead strikeouts we can get more in depth on that once we're at the all-star break we're here at the all-star break let's check in on injuries because while they aren't fun they are definitely important um the two sort of big-ish ones matt kane arthritic elbow three months looks like he suffered this injury uh i mean just like 10 days ago so that's a shame he was having a pretty good season for the giants also um where was the other one i wanted to show you matt latos uh radial nerve elbow decompression surgery he suffered this one in april so he may actually be back soon but he was really doing well for the reds through his first four starts of the season some of these you shouldn't be too worried about clayton kershaw it's a one to two week injury lindsay comes data today linda comes still doing awesome love to see tim lindsey come just tearing up the league still um so yeah some of those aren't too bad and then let's look at some hitters too any any big star hitters hurt looks like ian desmond has an injury but it's a fractured hand and it's only two weeks so hitter's pretty healthy um yeah we haven't seen too much in terms of like you know amazing star pitcher needs tommy john we haven't seen too much of that yet thankfully so that's your injury report let's look at these all-star rosters i didn't talk about this last all-star break but there is also the prospect like futures game josh bell won the mvp in that this year you can look at the box score and just see who played you can see names like lindor and correa and renee odor and marcelo zuna you know over here in the united states team you have tim anderson you have rail muto bellinger looks like had a pinch hit appearance uh lance mccallers max freed they pitched ramon marquez pitched so that's just a look at sort of the futures game but let's take a look at the all-star game rosters because it looks like felix is going to get the start for the american league once again you also have darvish kluber price sabathia verlander so not not big in terms of surprises there for the american league pitchers but hector santiago that's a bit of a surprise there in the american league for chicago white sox he's had a really good start to the season although looks like only about half of his appearances have actually been starts but uh relief pitchers max russell of the los angeles angels okay max russell way to go dan straley awesome kelvin herrera awesome looks like he's the leading vote getter among relievers these are alfonso wow mr alfonso has sort of parlayed that uh world series mvp into an all-star appearance just the next summer so good for him pujols is an all-star that's pretty fun way to go albert pujols looks like he's having a pretty good year for the angels once again his contract is not quite the albatross uh it was in real life so it'll be interesting to see like how his career ends up you know how how many more years does he have in the tank because i'm not sure he's gonna be playing when he's 40. um eric hosmer is an all-star good for him miguel cabrera again having a monster year hitting 355. lonnie chisenhall is an all-star brett laurie's an all-star i'm just reading names dominic brown as a baltimore oriole is an all-star that's kind of interesting cespedes is an all-star alex gordon so alex gordon leaves kansas city he goes to boston and he's an all-star it'll be fun to see where boston's at in the standings right now mike shroud he gets an all-star start he's having a pretty good year although maybe lagging a little bit behind his rookie year pace there's ryan domet again but he has ryan doman is not quite having um you know the 2013 compared to his amazing 2012 so we'll see what happens there with domet in the end he's mostly an all-star based on reputation at this point bumgarner is going to get the start for the national league he has a 1.36 era that is very awesome and you see some definitely some interesting names here i mean look at jose fernandez man now we're talking jose fernandez 20 years old making the all-star game 2.36 era that's what we want to see love that for jose fernandez love that for the miami marlins mike fires is an all-star um dylan i can't remember if this was dylan dylan g or dylan key i think he's still in key but uh he's an all-star for the mets way to go mets fans i know maybe the grom hasn't quite gotten going for y'all yet but there's him uh chris heston cliff lee steven strasberg adam wainwright uh top vote getter among relievers is sergio romo although he has a 4.01 era but you have some strong performances from other closers like gregerson janssen kimball sean marshall although sean marshall has an injury unfortunately looks like posey gets the started catcher but some really strong catching performances this year again from luke croy again from yachty or molina so nationally catcher is pretty stacked joey vado gets the start joey vado having a monster year wow uh ops well over a thousand obp 466 at the all-star break he's an mvp candidate as things stand for sure pedro alvarez is an all-star he uh led the national league in home runs one year i can't remember what year it was maybe 2012. david wright's an all-star with the arizona diamondbacks that's his new team so mets fans even if david wright is no longer yours at least he's still playing pretty well javi baez is an all-star we talked about him with the cubs how they might be uh you know beginning to resurge and maybe be a really competitive team for the years to come harper gets an all-star start he's also going to be an mvp candidate it looks like he's having a pretty monster season although vato may be outpacing him offensively hayward's doing really well blackman's doing really well uh carlos gonzalez is doing really well george springer oh man i forgot to move the astros to the i'll do it next year guys next year i promise i will move the astros but yeah for this year it's going to be a six teams in the central the national league and four teams in the west for the american league i promise i'll do it next year even though actually 2013 was the first year i think the astros when they moved back to the american league so i'll get that right but um if it makes you feel any better they're still not doing too great so i would hate for the astros to be like super competitive uh in the national league rather than the ale west where they truly belong i would say but yeah that's a look at um your all-star game rosters we can look at the standings now too red sox they still hold a one and a half game lead over the blue jays in the race but their lead has shrunk it looks like you know some of that offense was going to have to come down to earth eventually but they are still leading the league and run scored kansas city royals currently lead the al central let's take a look at them ruben rivera man ruben rivera just keeps keeps on trucking along with a uh 123 ops plus so far they have a young mustache they have a young eric hosmer they have a young will myers they have a young salvador perez it's just a young fun team even though they are missing alex gordon at the moment pitching not the strongest i do like they have johan santana that's kind of fun um they also have jason marquis currently is their best uh starter in terms of era so maybe not the best uh that lorenzo caine's there too lorenzo cain's there too he is uh injured but he's actually doing really really well so you know we'll see what happens with the royals but of course this is when they you know they started to emerge they had some really strong years in the mid 2010s including winning a world series mariners still lead the west that strong strong strong rotation with king felix james paxton eric bedard roswell ramirez and just um just a team that just kind of you know the offense just kind of pieces it together now they have john jason playing catcher that's kind of the same thing as the hyunjin ryu thing but you know what i'll let it slide because i would hate to do that twice to them but yeah a lot of lefties in this lineup um kyle seeger having a really strong year it looks like he's probably their best uh overall position player at the moment so way to go mariners hopefully they can hang on and break that playoff curse make the playoffs guys reds lead the central really strong pitching team cueto mike lee comer bailey bronson arroyo todd redmond um ryan hannigan i know is like a beast defensive catcher for them so even if he's not hitting he's not doing you know too bad vado of course having the monster year um looks like jay bruce solid um just a solid team otherwise but it's basically just like joey votto just raking and then like a bunch of great pitching and they even have papon too who's been pretty lights out for them as a closer uh giants lead the west good for them bumgarner of course having a massive year linda come having a massive year chris heston and then vocal songs petite they round things out um pretty strong lineup at the moment they have sandoval going strong they added adam jones this offseason he's playing right field for them robbie grossman playing center for them that's kind of interesting this looks like it's grossman's rookie year and he's doing pretty well he has a 368 on base percentage buster posey not as strong as this 2012 but still really good i mean buster posey's a beast uh and the braves lead the east let's take a look at the braves they added granderson um he looks like he hasn't been doing too great for them but freeman's been good prado's been good zimmerman they added him as well he's been good jason hagwood of course you know could be a serious like superstar in this save i mean look at his hitting stats and his ability to play center and right field like a lot of war that's what i'm saying like he could he could be like a six seven war guy every year medlin minor tommy hansen julio tehran reynold delgado and then kimbrell in that uh bullpen i mean the stuff the strikeouts i mean it's literally he's a 100 and stuff on the 20 to 80 scale so we'll uh we'll put it that way for good old craig kimbrell he's doing pretty darn good but yeah that's a look at um just sort of your division leaders um your top teams we can also take a look at uh who's leading these statistics a little bit closer because let's take a look at that cause gonzalez wow yeah i mean he's he's flirting with 400 at the all-star break granted he's only played you know 66 games so it'll be interesting to see like uh a if he can keep that up like you know he's probably not gonna hit 400 but can he get like 375 or something like that ortiz leeds runs better than stanton leads war stan's having a pretty monster here he's definitely competing with vado for mvp award um that kind of sounds like a repeat of 2017 although it's now 2013 of the cabrera elite steals nor arnotto he's emerged he's having a really strong season after his first year with colorado 2012 not much to write home about now he's really starting to get it together his defensive ratings are really really strong at the moment i like that that reflects real life vado leads on base percentage uh vada is also second in ops followed by cargo david ortiz longoria and bryce harper pitching leaders at the moment bumgarner still leading era followed by strasbourg mike fires tim lindsey come jose fernandez and the aforementioned dylan g g sorry just can't remember some of these guys um i feel like he's not even i think he's like pitched recently maybe i'm thinking of someone else um madison bumgarner leads war followed by cueto strasbourg hamill's fernandez darvish this is f war it's based on fip darvish leads strikeouts khan mchugh with the mets he leads saves that's interesting and jose fernandez timmlin's come tight for wins trevor bauer leads walks i don't know why i'm saying that it's just kind of interesting to see paxton marco gonzalez chris tillman uh james mcdonald brian morrow i don't know why i even read that strikeouts to walks cliff lee the king of the strikeout to walk ratio he's having a really strong year good old cliff lee man that guy could really pitch all right so that's just a look around the league there's your top teams top players and uh yeah we'll check in at the trade deadline see if there's interesting trades that have gone down in the month of july all right we're here it's august 1st i'm just looking at cleveland at the moment and this is just sort of the fun of this save i don't know who cord phelps is but in this universe he is the starting first baseman for the cleveland spiders and he's like a league average hitter and i don't know who russ kansler is but i mean he's a real person like russ cantler's a real person and in this universe he's an outfielder for the cleveland spiders so just kind of fun looking at stuff like that uh we can just take a look at like the stat leaders like like real real fast like we're not gonna we're not gonna dwell on it this is what it looks like for the hitters at the moment this is what it looks like for the pitchers at the moment we can look at the standings real quick too haven't seen too much movement there looks like tampa has opened up a lead over boston miami's back on top i think the braves were leading last update um biannually is back on top in the nl east we can look at tampa real quick this is what tampa looks like we can look at miami we've been looking at miami some hanley's having a big year yelich is up we were definitely paying attention for that we're looking for we're looking at yelich we're looking at jose fernandez we're also keeping our eye out for real mudo we know he's going to be up at some point although they currently have austin barnes in that catcher spot so that this young marlins team i think there's a lot of what ifs with you know when they had a core of yelich when they had stanton when they had ralmuto when they had um jose fernandez when they had marcelo zuna you know they may be able to fulfill some of their potential despite the fact that they lost so much of their pitching this past offseason so that's that let's take a look at some of the interesting trades that have happened now that they were past the trade deadline all right still no blockbuster trade but there have been some interesting ones that caught my eye this one's actually from february but i it was just interested me because i noticed derek norris involved and he had some pretty good seasons around this time was an all-star maybe once or twice and also because it involved jerry blevins jay blevins now a pittsburgh pirate just for those of you blevins heads out there trying to keep track of jerry blevins had a pretty good season for oakland in 2012 and now he is a pirate but that trades from february as far as the trade deadline goes again we're looking for that blockbuster trade we're not entirely seeing it you know but there was a an interesting one because colton wong got traded again so colton wong for those of you keeping track at home is now a baltimore oriole in return the tampa bay ray's got dara no day so they do add a pretty great reliever to the mix right there so being just to see how can darren o'day help them down the stretch and this one's really funny mariana rivera is a diamondback i'm just letting you guys i know i know i know what you're saying the diamondbacks are just collecting all all the franchise legends they're like we're gonna get david right we're gonna get mariano rivera we're just gonna get everybody dude we're getting we're getting mike trout after this so interesting strategy but yeah marion rivera still pitching in 2013 by the way i had a pretty good 2012 2013 not so great i mean he's 40 he's almost 44. so i think he was retired after 2012 if i remember correctly but yeah that's mariano rivera he is a arizona diamondbacks or arizona diamondback sorry yankees fans but also ha ha like that's kind of funny all right final day of the regular season and seattle they did it they won the al west easily 96 wins so far they could add a 97th today if they would like to but the seattle mariners are als champions they are back in the playoffs for the first time since 2001 so that's huge that's huge for this alternate history the seattle mariners are a playoff team it'll be fun to look at them the spiders have won the central um so the cleveland spiders win the al central and the rays take the al east looks like the east of the national league will be won by the washington nationals so we got to take a look at them marlins fell off sadly so braves grab a wild card reds win the central uh diamondbacks win the west with san francisco adding uh a wild card as well so as far as this ale wild card that's the last thing to be decided the athletics tigers and blue jays are in contention for it there is potential for like you know game 163 tie breaker stuff so let's just simulate to this day and see what happens okay so looks like the blue jays lost tigers in a's one so it's pretty simple those are the teams that advance to the playoffs sorry blue jays fans better luck next year let's take a look at some of these division winning teams because we can look at the spiders justin masterson corey kluber josh tomlin some of their top starters though they have a fourth somewhere that they'll add for that playoff rotation shinsuchu is in that lineup freddie guzman where he led in stolen bases in 2012 he's their lead off hitter carlos santana he had a pretty solid year 115 ops plus this is just a fairly balanced team michael brantley was a player that the simulation really liked he's 26 now he had a solid year yeah i'm not just like you know completely blown away but they're just uh they just appear to be like a very decent team and they are the best team in the central uh by wins tigers also advance on a wild card so that's good for them too we can look at the league leaders later ray's advance um they win the east let's see let's talk about these diamondbacks because they you know san francisco was leading for a lot of the year but the diamondbacks they came through no doubt about it you know franchise legend david wright and franchise legend um marion rivera definitely key for them but yeah really really good rotation i'm sorry not rotation really good um like line up like a lot of hitting for average here i see eaton rodopara david wright aaron hill paul goldschmidt justin upton um not the most home runs they only hit 114 home runs all year but i mean they were they're getting a lot of base hits they were getting on base so uh would have been a fun team to watch i imagine wade miley in kennedy j happ i imagine like bauer was probably in the rotation yeah um he'll get added to that rotation sometimes it's just it gets weird at the end of the season because it's like well bauer's not going to start this year so we'll put him here but yeah when the playoff start he'll be in the playoff rotation this david hernandez guy has done uh really well for them in back to back seasons as their closer so this this should be a fun team giants did get a wild card spot as well let's take a look at those washington nationals those are nle's champions ian desmond adam laroche steven souza bryce harper young bryce harper now in his second year in the league 8.3 war you know uh laying down a 3-4-5 real smooth 150 ops plus definitely going to be an mvp vote getter i don't know if he'll win it but he'll definitely show up in the final tally anthony rendon in his first full season puts together a solid three war campaign it wasn't always pretty but he's got a lot of potential to grow he's still only 23. he could very well still turn into one of the league's top players you see strasbourg joe gonzalez anybody sanchez sort of headlining that tyler clifford really strong for them coming out of the bullpen this is a good team they won the pennant uh in 2012 i believe so maybe they'll win the world series this year but yeah that's just a look at some of your top teams we can look at the reds too they won i don't know who conor crumbles is but way to go connor crumbles your division champion vato monster year good for him love that guy uh yeah sean marshall jonathan pappelbaum rallies chapman i was looking at chapman earlier looks like right as this safe started he suffered a torn rotator cuff so that could have definitely long-term implications he just hasn't really gotten it going yet at the major league level so we'll see what happens with chapman's career but obviously he's been dominant in real life for the last decade but he could be an example of a guy that maybe not so dominant in this safe but yeah those are your those your top teams that's that's what the playoff picture is looking like we can also take a look at the um end of season like who led in all the categories carlos gonzalez he hit 345. remember he was flirting with 400 at the all-star break so but he has kind of a smaller sample size like he was like barely qualified anyways he's playing in coors miguel cabrera second joey votto third evan longoria leads home runs i'm a little bit surprised by that i don't think of him as like a pure power hitter necessarily but he has 46 home runs he's gonna be an mvp candidate in that american league especially with the uh ray's doing pretty well stanton and carnacion and gallo gallo at age 19. wow look at that look at joey gallow at age 19. that means he would have played like this would have been like his age 18 years that's crazy so joey gallo i mean he could turn into like a superstar if he's having this kind of season when he's 19 goodness gracious is one of the best like 19 year old seasons ever that's kind of funny although funnily enough the game is not giving him much room to grow so uh he may just be like this for a while evan longoria leads war mike trout tied with him so again it's going to be trout kind of in that mvp competition uh stanton harper they're all neck and neck kyle seeger seven ward joey vado so these are gonna be sort of your mvp candidates probably bottle leads on base percentage everett cabrera leads steals uh stanley's ops followed by vato cargo longoria harper and chris davis of the milwaukee brewers love that love to see chris davis doing well um let's look at the pitching leaders felix fernandez um he grabs an era crown however sadly um looks like he suffered an injury towards the end of the year so he may miss the beginning of the playoffs for the mariners that would be a real shame um but yeah felix he i mean he leaves wins he leads era 226 strikeouts this could be this could be another saiyan we'll have to see though cueto had a really strong year by war as well he was second in era bumgarner cj wilson awesome steven strasberg and there's lindsey come again lindsay comes just keeps it going uh his baby's have been really low so um you know maybe some elements of luck there i mean i mean these are six war seasons from tim lindsey come the freak is still going he's 29 and he's one of the top pitchers in the league at this moment and that's that's just a joy to see verlander leads innings pitched cueto leads win sergio romo 44 saves that's a lot of save sergio romo and then strikeouts you darvish with 274 he leads the league he had a really really strong year lindsey come hammels mike miner with atlanta zac drankie uh cliff lee yeah it's it's a lot of the usual suspects here but it's still fun to see like some of these names right so those are your uh league leaders those are that's what the playoff picture looks like let's get ready for the playoffs who's gonna win the world series in 2013 all right it's time for the playoffs starting with that wild card round it's gonna be the tigers and the a's and the al it's gonna be the braves and the giants and the nl let's you can come out on top on these wild card games the giants will advance with a wild card win over the atlanta braves they advance the division series versus the diamondbacks in the american league it's the ace let's take a look at the a's they've advanced the division series this is a fun team kind of balanced looks like well it looks like pitching is definitely their strength they only allowed 623 runs all year and it may just be based on their bullpen they have maybe the best bullpen leak going at the moment look at ryan cook really strong year from him craig breslow awesome but yeah uh brian morris 3.36 era justin freeman my brother justin freeman with a 2.17 era and then you know tommy malone barry zito still going strong at age 35. aj griffin is up brad peacock uh but then this uh you've got some coco crisp adson russell josh reddick josh donaldson a really good follow-up for josh donaldson very very similar numbers to his rookie year which was already brilliant joanna cespedes is there shane peterson chris carter awesome chris carter hit 25 home runs i'm a little bit surprised he didn't hit more than that jamil weeks we saw him win a gold glove award they have kurt suzuki kind of an interesting team ragtag group very oakland easy but you know what they're through and they'll face their division rival mariners so here we go here's your division series see what's going on quick 2o leads for arizona and cincinnati and then it's a 2-0 lead for the mariners as well whereas cleveland and tampa they're tied all right san francisco and washington they come back and they do win but arizona is the first team to advance arizona's going to the nlcs um and now the mariners and the spiders have both advanced so we're gonna have diamondbacks mariners spiders these are not the typical teams you would expect to see in a championship series but it's gonna be fun can we get the reds in the mix just to make it really kooky nah it's gonna be the nationals okay that's a little bit more boring but let's get to know these teams just a little bit more now that they're there because here's your diamondbacks team we talked about them but it's fun david wright pretty solid year for him i mean a six war season because his defense was so darn good apparently i like they have brandon ryan just a just a glove guy you know wade miley looks like had a really strong year for them aj pollock's hurt that kind of stinks but they do have paul goldschmidt they do have justin upton it's just kind of a fun middle of the lineup mariners we talked about them just uh just keep on trucking um felix is day to day for one week i imagine he'll pitch i imagine he'll pitch we'll see they do have paxton bedard so they're still pretty good at pitching and yeah seeger definitely the star hitter for this team i mean 7.2 war he's going to get mvp votes uh i don't i don't think he's gonna win but he's gonna get mvp votes for sure cleveland spiders masterson kluber josh tomlin zach mcallister interesting um jose ramirez making his uh big league debut this year puts up a not so great season but i mean that's kind of how it was like for him in real life it took him a little bit to get going uh michael brantley had a good year for them lonnie chisholm hall had a really good year shinsu it looks like had solid year jason kipnis wow jason kennedy hit 300 out of 5-4 season so that's fun to see chris perez is the name of their closer and um we can look at diamondbacks a little bit well he looked at diamondbacks already uh let's look at nationals too roger bernadina we talking about roger bernadina uh but yeah harper is definitely the star of the show here mvp candidate tyler clifford really good really good rotation strasbourg gonzalez sanchez zinderman would not be surprised to see the washington nationals win this but let's see championship series time oh it's a quick lead for arizona and a quick lead for cleveland could they be destined to face each other uh washington ties it back up mariners get a game right there mariners have had tied it back up whereas arizona takes a 3-2 lead on washington okay here we go mariners wow cleveland started up two no two uh nothing in this one and then mariners rallied back they win three in a row who's gonna advance to the world series diamondbacks advance they're going to the world series 2013 they will be joined by the mariners wow amazing amazing alternate history here we have the mariners versus the diamondbacks in a world series in 2013 just our second year of the simulation awesome let's see how that goes okay game one that goes to the diamondbacks game two to the mariners so they're split game three diamondbacks game four diamondbacks ooh diamondbacks up three to one they have a chance to win it oh mariners rally back okay the series is going they have a travel day and now last two games here uh diamondbacks up three to two on the mariners what's gonna happen will there be a game seven yes there will be a game seven the mariners have won two in a row they've rallied back from a 3-1 deficit they rallied back from 2-0 versus cleveland and here we are game 7 of the 2013 world series your world series champion for 2013 is the seattle mariners they come back they did it the seattle mariners are the world series champions in 2013 so that's awesome 2012 rays get their first world series 2013 your champions are the seattle mariners way to go guys that is so awesome let's take a look at um just sort of how this series shaped up because looks like it was an 11 to nine a game seven wow just a huge game some of the big moments um seth smith hit a two run double versus ian kennedy um in the sixth uh yeah looks like they just had a rally in the top of the six that was really big and then wow okay this game goes to the tenth inning and then seattle scores five in the tenth inning including a a big double from will venable but then the diamondbacks rally back and they score three so they definitely still make it interesting at the end but yeah your winning pitcher in game seven of the world series is charlie furbush so that is just incredible to see and your world series mvp oh interestingly enough they gave it to chooch chooch was not on the winning team chooch was on the arizona diamondbacks but he's gonna win the world series mvp uh anyways um some big world series performances um at least on seattle side looks like um just trying to see here dylan unsworth well i mean he had a l but charlie furbush got a couple wins this was a really high scoring series who was like doing a great job on offense just trying to look and see here michael saunders had a pretty strong series um over here looks like uh oh yeah i mean i can kind of see why chooch won it to be honest with you i mean he's his ops was like 1400 or something like that so i respect that even though uh he was not on the winning team wade miley looks like was pretty good although he did take a l but yeah that's your world series that is the seattle mariners winning a world series wow amazing so let's move on to the off season all right we're here for the off season which means we're here for that first year player draft there's going to be new talent fed into the minor leagues and eventually the major leagues and it's gonna be interesting to see who is in this draft now this draft is actually taking place in the middle of awards season so what i'll do is i'll do the draft first and then we'll take a look at the awards once we're through november 23rd and we can see like who won sai yang and who won mvp so we're gonna do the first year player draft first i wanna just show go ahead and check and see like what's the draft order looking like looks like the baltimore orioles get the first pick they had the worst record in the 2013 season followed by the astros the white sox the twins and the mets that'll be interesting to see the washington nationals they do have a comp pick and the blue jays they also have a comp pick so that's kind of fun for them they get two picks but it was just important to me that nobody like loses picks if that makes sense so the reason why the nationals and the blue jays have compensation picks for example is that they did not sign whoever it is they drafted in the 2012 draft so everyone still ends up getting the same amount of draft picks if that makes sense it just so happens that because they didn't make the signings the blue jays will get two this year and the nationals will get two this year but no one loses them because honestly draft picks are too valuable in this and one reason they're so valuable is just because the players are so good you can add jose abreu right now if you want i mean that's going to be adding like an all-star caliber first baseman you can add rafael devers you can add aaron judge you can have ramon loriano gleber torres trey turner matt chapman i mean look at these guys malcolm fordo let miss jimenez some really good players that are going to be added just in a few moments here among the top pitchers in this draft class erin nola wow brandon woodruff jack flaherty michael kopech carlos rodon tanaka freeland nelson lumet brandon lee brandt sean minaya shawn newcombe luke weaver so i'd say this one is a little bit more balanced like you do see like some top tier pitching talent coming into league for sure especially with like flaherty woodruff nola so that's gonna be fun to see you know a who ends up getting picked like is it gonna be one of those things where abreu gets picked just like ryu gets picked but yeah let's get started with this draft so the first pick does go to the orioles and i just should say as a reminder like this is a draft that takes place in november 2013 but it features players from like the 2014 draft class as well as like 2013 international amateurs and then also guys that would have come over from like top tier leagues around that time like the aforementioned jose braves so orioles have first pick they won 60 games last year and lost 102 so be that as it may they get the first pick and they have a chance to add an impact player like a jose abreu or maybe they add someone younger that they can try to develop so let's see who did the orioles pick let's go ahead and be smart about this um devers okay so they go for the young gun so rafael devers is going to be in oriole if they sign him this game is actually treating him like a high schooler so he's committed to ucla so they still have to sign him um but yeah so uh the orioles get devers who's houston gonna get they get erinola okay i like that he's like a louisiana guy so i like that he ends up in houston so uh erin nola is going to be a houston astro white sox on the board now they will get brandon woodruff okay he was the other top pitcher sort of in this class next up is going to be the minnesota twins they're division rivals they get tanaka okay and then who do the mets pick torres okay i'm gonna keep going i wanna see because someone's gotta pick up brayu still right is he still not up there yeah okay someone's got to pick a brave soon trey turner goes to the angels flaherty goes to the pirates interesting and brave still there loriano judge okay that's your top ten i'm just gonna finish up this draft but that's really interesting maybe maybe there's some sort of shenanigans going on here with the brillo because it's like i get that the cardinals pick judge but like man it braves the finished product you don't even have to wait for this guy so we'll see what happens i'm gonna just go ahead and complete the draft and see what each team ended up picking all right i was kind of freaking out about jose abreu but he went with the very next pick to the colorado rockies and that just seems to be the rockies mo like they picked ryu first overall now they pick abreu they like the finished product they like the guy they can just add to the major league roster no development needed here's the rest of that first round matt chapman is a milwaukee brewer michael conforto is on the red sox schwarber is a marlin rodon's on the rangers jimenez goes to the padres some interesting names for sure oxford dugo is an athletic kyle freeland cincinnati reds it's also fun to see some names that maybe aren't that familiar like so the washington nationals they had two picks in this they picked dario agrizol i know who that is but frank duncan i couldn't tell you a thing about frank duncan but he's a first-round pick in this universe and you know what maybe he develops into like a decent starter like if if he fills out in terms of stuff movement and potential as his control says he could like he would be an above average starter in this league potentially here's your second round some interesting names um jd davis is a cardinal ryan yarbrough's a pirate john means is an astro eddie alvarez olympics legend is a padre um that's actually very uh relevant with the winter olympics right now ozzy albee's he's an oakland athletic third round any interesting names mitch keller's a pirate well that's actually just appropriate to be honest diego castillo is a on the red sox alex jackson i don't know why i said that he's on the reds they also have greg allen they had two picks in that round uh any other interesting names staying out here just looking just look in here that's your fourth round here's your fifth round yeah you get it there's the draft but the first round is definitely key and that's why it's important to me that you know every team get a first round pick i don't want teams losing first round picks because they signed expensive free agents because you know the cpu doesn't quite know how to value a first round pick when you can get someone you know like eloy jimenez you know 17th and like he like you have just stud players going every year you know so it's very important that each team have a draft pick from for the sake of competitive balance now that the draft is over we can get into the awards it's award season and we start with our american league gold glove winners josh beckett matt wieters to shara sean rodriguez that's kind of interesting lori addison russell or austin jackson in left field for the tigers mike trout gets a gold glove that's pretty cool mike trout 2013 gold glove award winner he's a five-star player now by the way uh and then alex rios on the white sox in the national league clayton richard wins for pitcher yadier molina adds another gold glove he won in 2012 as well he's just a guy he wins gold gloves that's what he does he's yadier molina he wins gold gloves neil walker wins at first base i mean this is a guy who could play a lot of second base you know third base so that makes sense and fonte nolan arenado gets his first gold glove of many gold gloves he had a four war season he's starting to really come into his own i'm not sure if these like hitting stats have too much to grow though so it's gonna be his career is gonna be built uh off of his defense whereas in real life i would say it's built on you know his offense and also his defense like his defense is definitely key like it's definitely like the number one thing we know him for but he might not hit as well in this safe brandon ryan he's a glove guy justin upton john jay jay bruce i like that john jay jay bruce bruce maxwell i don't know any players with first name maxwell well maybe like maybe like a max maybe maybe one of the maxes is a maxwell maxwell freed maybe um okay speaking of max max russell is your american league reliever of the year and i'm kind of fascinated by this guy because he had a 1.74 era he only had eight saves so he wasn't really using the closer role but he had 98 innings pitched out of the bullpen like 249 era like he was a beast and yet like his ratios aren't crazy his f4 was only 0.3 his his stats like his like his ratings in the game they don't inspire a lot of confidence and yet he is your american league reliever of the year max russell for the los angeles angels and he's not even like a crazy ground ball pitcher either you know like it's just very weird tom wilhelmsen saved 31 games for the mariners the world series champions he uh was the runner-up and then we also had craig breslow calvin herrera logan jake mcgee jack mcgee is getting really good in this safe gosh look at jake mckee's numbers in this safe he's been a beast uh and addison reed national league kimbrell wins almost unanimously janssen does get a first place vote but kimbrell i mean 125 strikeouts and in a 69.1 innings of 4.3 f4 as a reliever craig kemperel a 1.95 era 100 out of 80 stuff that's awesome craig campbell's awesome uh kinley janssen really strong year for him but yeah i mean it wasn't quite craig kemp well you know goodness gracious clifford um finished third james russell sergio romo i believe he led in saves antonio bastardo for the philadelphia phillies here are your platinum stick winners which is really just a silver slugger alex avila 400 obp is a catcher i like that cabrera strong gear not as strong as his 20 uh 12 though i don't think he'll win an mvp jason kipnis had a really good year longoria he's an mvp candidate for sure elvis andrews while elvis andrews didn't have like the greatest of 2012 like it was just very similar to his 2011 but 2013 he's an above average hitter he's playing great defense at shortstop and he's a five war player awesome for elvis andrews and he gets a silver slugger alex gordon we talked about him a little bit earlier in the season like gone from kc and and just phenomenal career year with the boston red sox mike trout center field not a surprise alex rios and david ortiz he gets a silver slugger at a designated hitter i'm curious how much designated hair did he play this year is he has he played the field any yeah he had 11 games at first base okay i thought he might have been playing more first base than that but yeah ortiz has a huge year in 2013 5.7 more 150 ops plus monster year for david ortiz but also like kind of normal for him too anyways uh dave ortiz awesome staying healthy too so that's good we like to see that for like an older player especially mike leake he wins another um silver slugger buster posey big year for posey although not still until not quite as good as that 2012 where he won mvp uh vato had a huge year he's gonna be an mvp candidate posey could still be an mvp candidate i'm not counting him out prado wins for second base on the braves i loved prado back in the day he was one of my favorite players tulo tula wins its shortstop love tulo would love to see tulo getting it going i know the rockies players i kinda they had a rough start but um they weren't like a miserable team this year they were close to 500 so i think you know even though these neutral like stat ratings hurt them at first i think after a couple years it's not really gonna matter at all hanley won for third base on the marlins this marlins team is i mean it's just kind of a fun team you kind of want to root for them even though they went 500 because they just have some young fun players i mean hanley's like a veteran on that team um charlie blackman wins in center bryce harper wins in left he could be an mvp winner as well and then john carlo also uh wins in right field he leads in home runs again he hits 44 home runs this time he's an mvp candidate for sure uh ale rookie of the year as in russell boo boo boom uh but he does have a really good season in game um mostly built on like his really good defensive metrics because for him to have those offensive numbers and still put a four worst season like it's just glove glove glove and i believe he did win gold glove uh gene segura also um had a four war season i might have given it to gene segura to be honest with you but he was playing third base ali castillo a short stop for the yankees look at that here's ali castillo is he the heir to derek jeter chris taylor um yeah we talked about him on the mariners 3.7 war anthony garcia i don't know much about anthony garcia but he's a catcher for the cleveland spiders and he has a three war season mookie bets mookie betts uh he only played like half the season for boston he's playing second base for them but he was really really good did he must have gotten hurt or something yeah he had some injuries there it looks like but he probably would have won rookie of the year if he hadn't gotten hurt but it looks like he may be long-term a second baseman for the boston red sox which i think would be appropriate for this alternate history jonathan scope also getting some votes so that's um american league rupture of the year chris davis awesome he had 39 home runs he had 152 ops plus he wins unanimous rookie of the year as a milwaukee brewer chris bryant um you know he played some in triple a but then quickly made the jump played about 100 games for houston also was a monster if he had played the full season he could have been up there with chris davis steven souza of the nationals yeah honestly this rookie crop a lot stronger in the national league there's jock and there's rendonia stronger rookies in the national league this year ale uh manager of the year that's eric wedge of the mariners they're the champs and kirk gibson of arizona they were the runners-up they were the pennant winners in the national league okay a.l cy young it's felix and it is unanimous man felix just back to back monstrous years from felix hernandez just basically comes out and repeats his 2012 season he wins his third career cy young second in a row man felix is just i mean he's turning in like he's only 27 this is like a historic start to a career he's 27 years old he's almost at 50 war just keep going felix just like just keep cranking it out i know mariners fans are just loving this because they've got felix winning cy young's they're winning world series this is awesome verlander runner-up once again really really strong year for rolandra again one of those years that probably would have won you know in a lot of simulations but felix is just going bonkers so unfortunate for him david price okay david price comes back from his injury that ended his 2012 season early has a really really good 2013 with tampa happy to see that you darvish he had a lot of strikeouts cj wilson that's cool to see him with the angels james paxton james paxton uh after you know only throwing 81 innings a lot of it out of the pen in 2012. he throws down like just a great full season as a starter with the mariners he's a world series champion rick porcello looks like he had an injury maybe in the playoffs uh unfortunate for him but he had a really good regular season so porcello he gets down ballot um he gets down ballot uh cy young votes okay and then it's kwado unanimous wow a little bit i'm not surprised kwedo won i'm a little surprised that's unanimous but he i mean he led wins he led era he led war i get it he had 204 strikeouts quite a really good year he also had a really good year in 2012 although he did not win the cy young award that year but yeah cueto grabs himself as i young he's one of the top pitchers in this save so far for sure strasbourg um he finished his second he had a really good year bum garner finishes third he was leading era i believe at the all-star break but he has a 2.14 around the year 218 innings pitched um i'm surprised this was unanimous i mean these these guys all had really good years linda come finish his fourth awesome love 10 lin's to come 259 strikeouts that leads the national league tim lindsey come man he's still going uh next year will be his age 30 season it looks like but yeah there goes lindsey come where's he at right now he's at 41 more through his age 29 season just keep it going tim just keep it going wade miley really good year from wade miley jose fernandez there he is uh the young gun with 195 innings pitched in a 3.14 era 205 strikeouts for the marlins and uh chris heston yeah chris heston shout out to chris heston um on those san francisco giants he just had a really really good year 2.92 era 3.5 war so that is your cy young award voting all that's left is the mvp so your 2013 mvp in the american league is evan longoria and longoria is an mvp award winner good for him uh really good season i mean he hits 46 home runs that leads the league uh he's playing great defense at third base he puts up 8.4 warren i think it's a good pick trout finishes second he also had 8.4 war trout's uh not just not quite as good i would say um like the defensive metrics were a bit better but you'd like to see him do a little bit better i want to see a 10 more give me a 10 more mike trout uh kyle cedar awesome he finished his third he had an awesome year cabrera king felix he king felix actually gets three uh first place mvp votes which is pretty cool so longoria was unanimous among those who voted for position players josh johnson had a really good year he basically repeated his really really strong rookie year we talked about ortiz here's miggy he finished his fourth he still had 200 hits he still led in batting average it was still really good alex rios wow i mean when you combine that with his gold glove like and i didn't realize he hit so well either um but yeah good job by alex rosie he went silver slugger oh yeah i should have noticed that i should have noted that he was he just had just a really good season um edwin carnacion had a really strong season he hit 40 home runs for the blue jays who just barely missed the playoffs sorry blue jays price lorenzo kane i mean that that royals team is starting to come together and look really interesting just as they would have been in you know real life 2014 2015. beltray beltray is still looking pretty good here 3.9 more season though not as good as his 2012. um ratings in game he's maybe falling off a little bit maybe he's maybe more of a first baseman going forward whereas in real life he played third base like until he was like like 38 he played a long time you darvish ben zobrist jason kipnis joey gallo i know joey gallow it's so weird how he's just he's come up he's a finished product he's just turned 20 he's a four war player that's kind of interesting and then in the nl you probably already read this for spoilers but stanton is the mvp by split decision though i will say i mean cueto got some first place votes and harper got three first place votes vado got a first place but pose he got a first place vote but sean carlos stanton i think it's probably the right move i mean he it was just a monster year for him 44 home runs 323 average 390 on base 592 slugging 983 ops leads the league eight point three ward john carlos stanton um just after his 24th birthday is named the national league mvp cueto big year harper big year of otto posey here's melky melky has turned in back-to-back seasons where he hit 340 or better wow incredible for melki so that is that is some crazy stuff right there uh bumgarner jason hayward we talked about him he has a 6.6 war season follows that up with a seven war season in 2013 in only 128 games like if he hadn't it looks like he had some um injuries if he didn't have those like he would have definitely been up there in mvp voting incredible ryan zimmerman his teammate on the braves has a really good year with the braves chris davis steven strasburg blackman he won a silver slugger linda come hanley martin prado and there's david wright just very very much at the end down ballot sixth war season for david wright uh 126 ops plus as an arizona diamondback ladies and gentlemen those are the award winners for 2013. let's see what free agency has in store for us free agency filings are here some big names hitting free agency joey votto the teams interested in him includes cincinnati san diego and the new york yankees but joey vader is your leading free agent at the moment understandable he's just been an absolute monster so far um so he becomes a free agent tim lindsay comes a free agent that's big he could be you know off of the san francisco giants looks like atlanta colorado and the yankees are interested robinson knows a free agent i know this face gin does not look a lot like robinson canal all right we know it i know it we can say it but yeah robinson canoe is a free agent he might be leaving the yankees this is when he signed a contract with the mariners i believe carlos gomez josh johnson yo bonnie gallardo jacoby ellsbury elisa alfonso jay bruce dexter fowler sergio romo salto machia had like a really big year for the boston red sox but yeah those are some of your top free agents i would say there's definitely some drop off like once you get past these three because they're such big names but i would not sleep on carlos gomez who um you know he had a 7.4 war season in 2012 did not have a 7.4 season in 2013 he was a much more average player but still wasn't long ago he was like a top top tier player in the save and then josh johnson the great josh johnson has put together two really solid seasons for the marlins man that marlin's pitching it's just it's always seems to be in trouble but they have a really strong core of position players so those are your top free agents so far let's see where they sign here's your brand new hall of fame class and with the hall of fame it's been really interesting because it's kind of like what would the hall of fame look like if you had maybe some big hall voters and no one cared about like character claws or steroids and you just looked at the raw numbers like this is kind of an alternate history of the hall of fame first year inductees include greg maddox who's nearly unanimous tom glavin frank thomas mike piazza gets in on his second year mike mussina and rafael palmeiro jeff bagwell those guys are incredibly close they'll probably all get in next year and then you know big jump for like biggio and walker so they're on a pretty good pace uh maguire martinez david wells interestingly enough gets 26 of the vote bernie williams tim reigns i'm worried about him jeff kent barry larkin kenny rogers fred mcgriff those are some of your vote getters hey at least kenny lofton doesn't fall off kenny lofton fell off in real life and it's one of the greatest like tragedies of all of hall of fame voting so hopefully he'll at least stick around for 10 years and hopefully he'll get in all right a couple interesting trades have gone through here we have a trade here that went through in december between the mets and the diamondbacks um the mets sent jonathan nee so i should say john nice to arizona he had been a really solid starting pitcher for them he'd been delivering you know 200 inning seasons keeping that era under four eri plus you know above average so he'd been a really solid pitcher for them but in return they're going to get aj pollock which is pretty interesting like he's definitely an interesting piece to add to a deal underperformed for arizona at the major league level in 2013 but still definitely potential to be a real contributor and also they get patrick corbin who's been utilized mostly as a reliever at the major league level and yet also has a lot of potential as a starting pitcher so i think that's gonna be really interesting trade can patrick corbin make it as a starting pitcher in this league you know i think he has the potential to do so so really interesting trade for the mets there in particular but the uh diamondbacks also get a pretty solid starting pitcher out of that deal the other interesting trade that caught my eye is this trade between the spiders and the twins cleveland sends chad green i don't know too much about mike greaves but they they sent chad green to minnesota so chad greene another one of those guys fringy like is he gonna be a reliever could does he have potential as a starter still um but chad green goes to the minnesota twins in return for dinard span um international was a three war player in just 106 games so that's a pretty big get for cleveland there to get you know a really solid center fielder in dinard span and they also get 5 million in cash so that kind of helps balance the books so those are the two interesting traits from this off season so far and right now as of january 22nd 2014 pretty much all the top free agents have signed so let's take a look and see who got them oh take a look at this yankee fans robinson canoe is going to join the boston red sox robinson canoe now age 31 joining the boston red sox on a four-year deal the game rates him as a five-star player you know he has some really nice hitting stats for a second baseman and overall he's been like a four to five war like 130 ops plus guy and if he can continue to be that for the red sox as he ages you know into his mid-30s that would be a pretty good deal for them but don't sweat it because guess what you got joey vado joey vado is joining the new york yankees the on base percentage king himself the canadian sensation joey votto is a new york yankee he signs a deal with them for the next five years worth 116 million also twins fans guess what you get tim lincecum and i kind of like that something about tim lindsecum and the twins like just the vibe there i know he's like you think of him as like oh cool bay area like california like you know skateboarder guy for some reason tim lynch come in the twins i just feel like just picture it the uniform in your head i kind of like it jacoby ellsbury is going to join the giants on a six-year deal worth 59 million lisa alfonso the um the world series mvp in 2012. interestingly enough he's also going to join the yankees on a four-year deal dexter fowler is joining the houston astros on a four-year deal josh johnson joining the the detroit tigers man that tigers rotation might be really really good next year and then carlos gomez joins the cub six-year deal for carlos gomez they bet on his 2012 season maybe not so much his 2013 season let's see what detroit's rotation looks like i mean they have justin verlander josh johnson max scherzer rick porcello doug fister i mean this is gonna be a monster rotation next year really fun team to watch potentially this is just a good illustration of how the simulation isn't always going to be perfect and there are always ways that we can improve but like for example from reyes played in the majors when he was 16. you know that's just that's just not really realistic right like that's almost joe nuxl territory but yeah fran will reyes played for the pirates at the age of 16. and then you even have guys like corey sieger who just had like a monster monster year at age 19. you know i get that like juan soto did it but that does not happen every year that happens like once every like i don't know 30 years at best so you have some of these guys that are developing quicker than they normally would and you know they're coming into like that first year player draft like some of them major league ready at really young ages but you know that's just that's just part of the experience and i feel like we should acknowledge it you know this isn't always going to be perfect but it's just part of the game all right we're here at spring training so i figure i can go take a look at the off-season summary by team look at who's adding war look at who's losing war and i should say overall for the league like this is going to be negative you know because like players retire and you know not everyone's signed there's still a lot of free agents out there still have like minor league free agents out there so for the most part the league is negative at the moment but of course you know with war it's like a zero-sum thing so not to worry if your team is like oh my gosh we're losing two or we're getting worse you're probably not getting worse but anyways teams that are definitely adding more the arizona diamondbacks they add elvis andrews via trade we've gotta check that out we've gotta check out adding jeff samaraja via uh trade as well john neese we talked about that train they also had jim johnson so they're just trading they're trading a lot and they sign colby lewis they lose brad ziegler they lose david ross um they traded corbin and pollock but like how did they end up with elvis andrews like what's that trade look like um and this was a trait just done today it looks like so they traded away anthony mio looks like he could be like an average starting pitcher and then evan marzillo i mean i think that's a pretty good deal uh looks like only one year left on the deal for andrew so they may only potentially have them for this season but the the diamondbacks are going all in like they won 92 games last year and they're getting better they also add samarja with the trade with the cubs they give up kendall graveman who again has potential to be maybe like a league average starter maybe like a back end starter um chris owings um these are two guys rated actually as top 100 prospects by the game so that's kind of interesting and then evan marshall so i mean they're giving up prospects but you know they're getting major league talent in return and they may be gearing up for like a big playoff push world series push like it'll be an interesting team to follow this year for sure cleveland spiders are adding guys they add dinard span i haven't talked about r.a dickey because i noticed in 2012 like basically he got hurt and missed the entire 2012 season and so i kind of lost track of him but he had a really really good 2013 and then um with the mets and then the cleveland spiders traded for him so he is now a cleveland spider for what will be his age 39 season so that's fun to see from r.a dickey for sure the spiders also um you know they have some they took some elves like freddie guzman left cord phelps left oh my gosh he's a legend too but yeah it's like you know they're holding together a pretty strong team and we should also take a look at the new york yankees they add war they add vado they had alfonso who just had a really big year for the tampa bay rays wow i mean he was like an all-star last year too they had ricky weeks they lose canoe phil hughes i think is still a free agent so they could resign him back if they want to they lose adam dunn that's kind of interesting adam dunn it looks like um you know had a lot of like pinch hit type appearances for them but he had a 142 ops plus and 158 plate appearances for the yankees last year so they they lose him uh sean marcum aj burnett they're gone as far as the teams that have lost the most talent one of those teams is the reds um the reds have added kendrick morales via free agency but of course they lose votto they also lose jay bruce to seattle and scott rowland retires so that's stain of roland's career hopefully a hall of fame career for him red sox i'm surprised to see because they signed cano but they also lose ellsbury salt lamacchia and mark burley to free agency it looks like mark burley had a 2.5 war season they traded will middle brooks and they lost colby lewis for the agency this this will middle books trade in return they received kevin kiermeier so that's interesting kier meyer's still a prospect but that could be you know if his defense develops to anything like it is in real life i mean that could be a pretty good trade for boston still even though you know the game is going to say they're losing war they're maybe actually gaining in the long term g-man choi uh traded for by the brewers but they lose chris young they use giovanni gallardo it was carlos gomez it was glen perkins ricky weeks so these are the teams that you know have lost some talent over the off-season but some have gained as well like the diamondbacks spiders and yankees
