Iā€™m really enjoying these a lot.

I love that his delivery is almost rushed in an attempt to make the videos a reasonable length, yet they are all 2 hours or more. Nothing better than long form OOTP content!

all right we're here on opening day 2014. we've got a lot to look at you know we've got to look at top prospects we've got to look at top players around the league we got to take a look at season predictions but we should also take a look at the houston astros because so during spring training i realized oh i still have to move the houston astros over to the al west i did that however it's still giving me what appears to be an nl central schedule so i think what's going to happen this year is the astros are going to play like more of an nl central schedule they will just be playing in the al west so that's kind of awkward i'm hoping that would get fixed and i hope that's just like my fault because i didn't move them during what the game considers to be the off season you know i moved them in the middle of spring training so that's just a heads up hey you know i'm i'm not a perfect guy i know you all think i'm a perfect guy but actually i'm only right 99 of the time so and that's how i stay humble all right let's take a look at some preseason predictions this is the mini simulation that the game runs to try to just predict you know who's gonna you know win the divisions who's gonna be some of the top players boston red sox are projected to win the al east although the rays are gonna be really close behind remember those red sox added robinson canoe although they also lost plenty of talent detroit the the mini simulation the preseason predictions really like detroit they have them winning the al central by 14 games so a huge margin and you can kind of understand why their rotation is insane although max scherzer out torn rotator cuff for three to four months so that's gonna hurt that's gonna hurt but they have josh johnson and they have miguel cabrera too so that helps and you know prince fielder's been pretty good so i'm rooting for the tigers personally mariners defending world series champions can't believe i'm saying that they are projected to win the al west although oakland's looking pretty strong as well cubs projected to at least well they'll get projected to tie to win the central let's see what the cubs have built up so far because they've got carlos gomez who they just added chase headley who's still going pretty strong she said they had a 6.6 war season in 2013. oh my goodness uh anthony rizzo matt kemp starlin castro uh baez is out five to six weeks but he's still really good and then you know rotation it's it's kind of piecemeal a lot of veterans but it could work um kyle hendricks you know didn't have the greatest of seasons in 2013 but if he can come into his own get that movement to develop he's gonna be you know probably their best pitcher still um diamondbacks projected to win the west they're going all in the diamondbacks are all in this is like a beast diamondbacks team eaton gerardo parra aaron hill david wright hitting cleanup goldschmidt upton elvis andrews and then chooch carlos reese rotation wade miley he had a really strong year last year they add jonathan niece they had jeff smargia trevor cahill ian kennedy i mean this is a team definitely i'd love to see the diamondbacks do well i would love to see uh detroit do well um and then uh braves projected to win the east nationals as well looking very strong so that might be a two-team race we'll see how that uh you know ends up but uh carlos gonzalez game really likes cargo likes uh harper this year likes tuliwicky this year likes goldschmidt this year like serato para this year as far as national league pitchers they likes kershaw lee bumgarner lin strasberg um as far as pitchers in the american league sale hernandez lindsey come verlander sabathia and hitters the american league trout bryant who is a first baseman currently looks like for the houston astros but bryant has really i mean he had a monster rookie year probably would have won rookie of the year would have been in contention at least if not for a chris davis and b he didn't play the full season he had some aaa prince fielder robinson canoe david ortiz these are some top guys and yeah so those are your season predictions for the year and we'll just have to see how true they are so based on the star ratings here's just a glimpse at some of your top hitters in the league and you know the star ratings aren't always precise you can have like three star guys put together better seasons than four star guys but the two five star guys right now are mike trout and bryce harper so you've got two youngsters two incredible players and yeah i mean that i would say they're the future of the league but really they are the president of the league at this moment robinson cano chris davis i want to talk about chris davis because what's happened here with chris davis is you have him developed and hitting you know at a much younger age than when he started to hit like he was such a late bloomer but you know now he's 26 he's one of the best power hitters in the league and he can play a position he can play left field it's not great but he can play a position in the simulation he dealt with the yips so much on defense uh in real life but in this one the yips haven't gotten to him so that ups his value and yeah i mean he's he's coming off like a 6.8 more season where he hit 39 home runs still led the league in strikeouts but yeah chris davis it's going to be a really interesting guy to follow yes mike grandahl is here he has arrived he's got a case to be you know the best catcher in the game posey's also saying hey don't forget about me i've had some monster years as well i mean goodness gracious look at posey 8.6 war mvp in 2012 follows that up with a seven war 2013 and i was saying like he underperformed you know 158 ops plus like what am i talking about he was insane uh hanley uh giancarlo so you know those miami marlins i never know what to think of them javi baez looking really good he has a injury though chris bryant miguel cabrera starling castro freddie freeman cargo aaron hill matt holiday who's on the cardinals luke croy yada molina rizzo tulo vado i like that zobrist yeah and then there's there's jose abreu who's just been added by the colorado rockies they currently have them on the triple-a roster i can't imagine he'll be there for very long top starting pitchers in the league at this moment just by the star ratings kershaw's your five star kershaw is your five star um looks like he got injured last night did i mention that last year but he had some injuries last year only pitched 130 innings um felix of course has been it's a joke how good he's been .89 and .86 whip it's a joke how good felix hernandez has been in this save uh bumgarner cueto darvish gio gonzalez cole hamels cliff lee david price hyunjin ryu um didn't have the greatest of rookie years in colorado and i'm interested in this because his his fip was really good but you know of course the baby will get you and he might not have had good defense behind him but it still seems like he's a pretty good pitcher although he does have an injury to start the season so i'm definitely rooting for you colorado is tough uh sales up there let's see sale had a pretty good year missed some starts but he's been pretty good 2012 2013 he's up there he's only 25. strasbourg of course he had a really really good 2013 um and then verlander and then after that you kind of the next year of pitchers you know you got like you know greinke and josh johnson guys like that we haven't done relievers much but uh yeah i mean craig kimbrell you know can't go wrong with craig kemper look at craig kimbrell um kellen herrera also doing really really really well in this safe i mean his first um two seasons have been really good last year at one point three six era he had three point three is 306 era plus oh my goodness kevin herrera um and then kenley janssen um he's a big deal too chapman's the guy that's been kind of lagging behind like like you know jansen's doing great kimbrough's doing phenomenal but chapman's the guy you know he's had some injuries hasn't quite put together at the major league level yet although we'll see what happens this year so that's a look at some of your top players in the league right now but let's talk about those top 100 prospects your number one prospect in baseball is j t real muto i love that i'm a big real mudo fan he's there age 23 in the marlin system probably gonna make his big league debut this year it'll be interesting to see how that works because they did sign uh saltomachia to a contract this offseason so he's gonna have to beat him out but yeah that's jt ralmuto he's the number one prospect aaron nola's number two we saw him in the first year player drafts he was drafted second overall by the houston astros that's a good get for them he could be in that rotation soon even though he's only 20. eugenio suarez wow i'm interested to see that you know that can happen with the talent change randomness but it's looking like eugenio suarez a first of all you gotta remember this guy came up with the tigers so he's in the tiger system and b it looks like he's gonna be like a monster potentially they have him at the five-star potential at the moment whether he'll reach that or not i can't say there's a lot of talent change randomness that can happen and that's sort of the fun of this but eugenio suarez and this universe is like a premier prospect brandon woodruff we saw him get drafted by the white sox correa um on the astros as well tanaka jeff mcneal ooh interesting he was in the first year player draft in 2012 picked fifth overall looks like um he had a pretty good season in the minor leagues we'll see what happens with jeff mcneal he's with the mariners in the mariner system gary sanchez here comes gary sanchez cattell marte ramon marquez rafael devers we saw him go first overall in that 2013 draft to the orioles so this will be his pro debut um we can take a look at like the rest of the top 100 if you want to see we're just scrolling along i'm interested in like you know i don't know who john cukuno kushno is but um in this universe he's a pretty big deal prospect so way to go john kushno he's a he's a pitcher for the pirates we'll see how he turns out there's lindor there's michael conforto um i see matt chapman i see max freed i see max kepler i see josh bell i see josh hader i see puig i see domingo herman i see cj crow and i see eloy jimenez but that's your that's your top 100 prospects right now i'm actually curious about degrom because he's been the top one uh he was like the number one prospect um like like what's going on with the gromp so degrom currently mets haven't positioned as a closer um he pitched uh 71 inch to a 3.39 era but that was coming out of the bullpen let's see what the mets do like is he going to stay in the bullpen or is he going to you know move over to the starting rotation it's this movement and he's almost 26 but this movement really needs to develop because he's just going to allow a lot of home runs and that's going to introduce a lot of variants here's my thing with jacob degrom guys i don't need to see jacob degrom become the best pitcher on the planet in this simulation i'll tell you why if you ran like a simulation of jacob degrom's like playing career like he is not the best pitcher in the world in a lot of them like this guy like he was not a first round draft pick you know he went to like stetson i think um you know he didn't pitch uh you like you adopted pitching like kind of later in his baseball career like when he was in college he was like originally a shortstop he had tommy john surgery in the miners like there's a lot of simulations of jacob de graham's career where he doesn't turn out like unbelievable like this truly is like a point zero zero one percent thing so i'm excited for de gras i'll definitely be following around and see how he does but at the same time i would say don't expect jacob degrom to just go absolutely insane because he's absolutely insane in real life because i think any sort of re-simulation of jacob degrom's like life if you know if not just his career uh results in him probably not being the best pitcher on the planet he just is because well let's be honest he's probably an alien it is now may 31st and it looks like the rays and nationals have opened up some pretty strong leads in those eastern divisions both up six games raise up six games on the red sox nationals up six games on the mets rays are looking like this at the moment zobrist kind of slow to get going will middlebrook's also kind of slow to get going for them but they've had some good performances from bj upton evan longoria is looking pretty strong he was the mvp last year omar narvaez a young catcher for them um replacing eliza alfonzo he is uh off to a pretty good start here with the rays in 2014 and of course they have just a monster rotation i mean goodness look at their look at their pitching so far this season they've allowed 134 runs their starters era is 2.37 and that's thanks to david price that's alex cobb that's matt moore that's wade davis and that's chris archery young chris archer for these tampa bay rays so they're looking strong nationals also with a strong lead in the nl east looks like steven souza is doing really well adam laroche is having just a huge start to his season his ops is 970 so that's adam laroche right there rindon is really starting to come into his own looks like this could be like just the big time breakout year for him in 2014. um looking for harper here i haven't quite found him yet interesting is he injured or something let's go where's harper what's going on with harper has there been some sort of blockbuster trade that i missed you know it looks like probably harper is just doing a rehab assignment in triple a so it looks like he did in fact get hurt but he is still a washington national i was just a little bit afraid thought i missed that trade but he'll be back up with the team soon looks like he got injured after just a few games but um they're doing pretty fine without him so washington nationals looking strong geo gonzalez i mean in this save geo gonzalez is like one of the best pitchers in the league uh let's look at the other teams in the standings real quick uh chicago white sox have opened up a two and a half game lead in the central pirates lead the nl central we gotta check that out rockies lead the west that's really exciting and the rangers lead the aos so we gotta look at some of these teams real quick this is what the white sox look like at the moment tyler saladino is their leadoff hitter uh victor mendoza don't know who that is but he's their first baseman paul canerico is still there he's the dh alex rios is hitting 412. okay but he's only played like four games all right um gordon beckham looks like he's having a really strong season gordon beckham of all people i like that and then you know chris sale jake peavy jeff franz is having a good season hector santiago i think was like all-star last year he's having a good season so that's the white sox pirates we have barely talked about the pirates we have to talk about them now that they're in first place they have a young starling marte batting lead off for them neil walker we can take a look at andrew mccutchen who had a really really good 2012 just kind of an all right 2013 and maybe on pace for about the same in 2014. lucas duda is there james mcdonald jeff lock marco gonzalez who they uh drafted with that third pick in that 2012 first year player draft he's looking good so they have a strong rotation at the moment because they have tyonne and they also have garrett cole so here's garrett cole um you know through his first 20-inch pitch with a 2.61 era he's been splitting time between the bullpen and the rotation it looks like but maybe now he's a more of a permanent rotation piece i must say his ratings he's got some ways to go as far as his development goes if he wants to you know reflect the garrett cole of real life joel peralta right now with a .89 era that's pretty good for joel peralta rockies they lead the west i always said they were going to be the problem child but now they're uh they're one of the best teams going their offense is going crazy they're batting 290 as a team david dahl is having a huge season abreus there cargo but he's injured but it's diagnosis pending so we don't know what that's gonna be charlie blackman tulo i mean this is just a crazy lineup when when nolan arnotto is batting eighth for you uh it's a pretty good sign and then ryu you know who they drafted uh first overall in the 2012 first year player draft looks like he's only played a few games but off to a pretty good start uh a 312 era plus that's pretty good you know that's pretty good you have to look at your rockies they have a crazy offense and it seems like that's kind of what they gravitate towards in some of these simulations they just gravitate towards having crazy offense and just coors doing wild stuff and then there's the rangers rangers currently leading um the a.l west division which actually includes the astros now they have some guys i don't know who who jaffet amador is but he's playing for them and he's doing quite well as their first baseman uh looks like beltrey is dhinging for them at the moment he's having a pretty solid season as a dh they have lorenzo kane that's interesting we should look at that this is a trade that went through in um just uh in march the uh rangers received lorenzo cain in return they got or the royals received barrett lou he's like a young starting pitcher joe ortiz who's like a reliever young reliever with some really good potential kevin torres catching prospect and another reliever and she wei who um but yeah that's a pretty big get for the texas rangers to get a center fielder the quality of lorenzo cain i mean he's on pace for a five-hour season because his defense is just so nice they have nelson cruz still looks like he's doing uh pretty solid for them he's had some seasons where it looks like he was like maybe more closer to like a part-time player like he was like maybe a platoon bat but nelson cruz he's still going but i'm not sure if he's going to make it to you know 41 like he has in real life josh hamilton's there joey gallows there that's your texas rangers and and darvish definitely leads the rotation he's been pretty strong for them so yeah those are just a look at some of your uh division leaders at the moment again this is still early stages we can take a look at the league leaders but i'll i'll focus more on that um when it comes to like the all-star break but anyways hanley ramirez leading average uh ops and war so he's having a really strong season pitching leaders at the moment david price has the best era um kershaw has the best war once again is his f4 and he also leads strikeouts so that's just a quick look at your league leaders at the moment some interesting teams starting to jump out in front of these division races and i'll see you guys at the all-star break we're here at the all-star break i just thought i'd take a look at some of the injuries taking place around the league carlos gonzalez who we saw had a injury pending that turned out to be a fractured hand so he's missed like the last month and a half um but he'll be back soon after the all-star break jason hayward this one's really unfortunate sorry strained abdominal muscle that's gonna leave him out for about you know five six weeks it looks like and it's crazy because like he is so clearly like one of the absolute best players in the league in this save and yet you know you see in 2013 in just 128 games the season he had and it's like wow he could have been an mvp if he played 150 games and the same could happen here because he's on pace at the moment for like a 10 war season his ops is 950 162 ops plus and just his defense is just insane he's like a gold glove caliber center fielder in this safe so he's one of the absolute best players this is a big one right here torn pcl for javi baez that was suffered at the end of may so really unfortunate for the cubs there and chris davis fractured fibula also suffered towards the end of may we're really excited about chris davis he had such a monster 2013 hopefully can come back strong and finish out the year strong for milwaukee brewers taking a look here at starting pitching verlander has an injury that is just elbow inflammation so it's a five-week injury um he was having you know an incredible start to a season but he's just been really good in this safe he's been the cy young runner-up twice lindsay come has an injury but it's very minor it's very day-to-day so that's just a look at injuries around the league let's take a look at the standings now that we're here at the 2014 all-star break looks like the rays and nationals are still leading the eastern divisions they've opened up even bigger leads the twins are the new leaders in the al central let's talk about the minnesota twins they signed tim lindsey come over the off season looks like he's still going pretty strong so good for tim lindsey come the freaky franchise they have tanaka as well they drafted tanaka fourth overall in that 2013 first year player draft he's doing well for them uh ricky lasco who i think had like a pretty monster year yeah 2012 he was just an absolute monster he's doing really good in 2014 so this is a pretty good rotation andrew cash are also doing well they still have ryan doman they have brian dozier batting ninth which is pretty cool because brian dozier is no slouch um jorge polanco age 21 he's up for his rookie year he's doing well mowers here he's 31 his ratings are starting to fall off a bit which is a shame because before he suffered that injury in 2012 man he was going absolutely nuts so we'll see what happens with joe mauer long term miguel ceno is there he's only 21 he's been there for a while so they have some young players starting to come up here's max kepler he's also 21. aaron hicks is 24. so that's a look at your minnesota twins the current leaders in the al central although they're just one game above 500. pirates still lead the nl central they've been a really fun story this year rangers lead the west we talked about them angels i noticed are also uh first place in that ao wild card so we'll talk about them in a little bit diamondbacks we're definitely rooting for the diamondbacks they have opened up a small lead in the nl west ahead of those colorado rockies adam eaton gerardo para aaron hill paul goldschmidt david wright justin upton elvis andrews tim fedorowicz and then just yeah that rotation we're really all in on that rotation wade miley john neese jeff samarda trevor cahill marco estrada they've done really well even though this hasn't been like the craziest offensive team necessarily um they have the um the lease runs against the national league and their bullpen is just crazy f bauer currently is a reliever right now but raphael soriano with a point with a point i'm trying to read this correctly well it looks like they traded for him so he was doing one of the yankees and he has pitched 14 and a third innings with the diamondbacks now and um just hasn't allowed a run yet so crazy season for rafael soriano um in return the yankees received uh delano de shields junior joe jackson and kevin medrano so interesting trade there but the the the rich get richer in terms of the diamondbacks bullpen so that's the look at the diamondbacks for you let's also look at the angels who are hopefully going to get a wild card spot this year they have jean sagura they have a guy named wade hinkle okay way to go wade hinkle they have trout trout um you know having a having a decent year the it continues to be that the defensive metrics really seem to like him and yet um you know his offense offensively his best season still appears to be his uh his rookie year actually pujols is there he's you know maybe falling more towards like a league average hitter at the moment uh they have howie kendrick though harry kendrick's having a massive year so mark trumbo's looking pretty good and it's that rotation they have some really good veteran arms jared weaver cj wilson big game james shields paul mulholland mark burley all in their 30s but you know what all doing really well this is a really good rotation and and the bullpen is not too bad either there's max russell i believe was reliever of the year last year he's on pace for like some crazy season where he's he's almost like a ryan yarbrough type you know long reliever uh spot starter type of guy so this is a fun angels team hopefully we'll see them in the playoffs and now i just want to check out the league leaders now that we're here at the all-star break at the all-star breaks it looks like the man of the hour is definitely troy tulowitzky tulo and i think this is just fun to see this is definitely one of those guys you know like david wright like tim lindsey come who's like wow if we re-simulate his career from like 2012 onwards he could be a easy like slam dunk first ballot hall of famer by the time the simulation's over so tula was on pace for a ten more season he uh his ops is nearly 1100 his ops plus is 169. he's having a monster year he's leading the league in average slugging ops war tula's having a massive year hayward is second in war we talked about him hanley's third jean-claude stanton is fourth so those two really putting in the work for the marlins steven souza playing third base for the washington nationals of all positions he's having a monster year for the washington nationals that's interesting to see and then mike trout is fourth uh matt carmbraider leads on base percentage matt carpenter's been uh pretty good in this save his his 2012 was was really good um 2013 a little bit fell off some but he's back in 2014 as like a full-time type player having a monster year 168 ops plus and a 435 on base percentage at the break we can look at the pitching leaders as well david price still leads era with a 1.69 he started 18 games and he's 10 and 4 on the year 247 ara plus pretty good david price kershaw is just behind him with a 1.82 era and then maybe a little surprise ryan dempster with a 1.99 era so ryan dempster having a really really big year for the cubs looks like he's uh was also really good in 2013 so but uh yeah 2014 ryan dempster going nuts there's also felix of course lancelin chris sale kershaw leads war also leads innings pitched uh the most saves in the league goes to eric o'flaherty of the texas rangers this is one of my favorite players around that time when the braves had um vinners and o'flaherty and kimbrell uh but yeah he has a 2.06 era leads league in save so good year for eric o'flaherty also he follows me on twitter so he must be a nice guy if he follows me on twitter um let's see who else uh wears um strikeouts okay strikeouts kershaw has a pretty solid lead in strikeouts maybe he'll push for 300 strikeouts i'm not sure if we've seen a 300 strikeout guy yet but maybe that'll be kershaw this year so those are your league leaders at the moment we've seen the standings and now let's check out those all-star game rosters like who's playing in this all-star game here's a quick look at the prospects game the futures game these were some of the rosters this is the american roster which included jt ralmuto who i believe is ranked as the number one prospect at the moment also cody bellinger who looks like cody bellinger is having a really strong start to the year in the minors although his overall potential stats have gone down quite a bit so we may not see the full cody bellinger experience here uh here's the roster for the world there you go that includes rafael devers who was the uh the first overall pick in the first year player draft last year in 2013. but let's talk about these all-star rosters here because i'm excited to see who's in the all-star game this year andrew kashner is an all-star that's fun david price looks like he's going to start jake peavy's an all-star jose quintana this look i think this is jose quintana's first all-star game he's actually listed as a starting pitcher even though he's been used mostly as a reliever this year it looks like so there's quintana he's an all-star they have this guy manny correa don't know about manny correa but he's an all-star joe ortiz that young reliever that just got traded um right he's the white that was in the the trade with the um yeah he was in the trade for the lorenzo kane so he's actually an all-star for the royals so not too shabby royals i must say not too shabby kelvin herrera is the leading vote getter he's one of the most dominant relievers in the league at the moment tom wilhelmsen although he's injured john gomes miguel montero actually gets the start for the american league catcher although he's injured so maybe it'll be like salvador perez instead or matt wieder's matt wieder's having a pretty good bounce back after you know 2012 2013 wasn't wasn't the best of years especially 2013 but weeder's doing better eric castro don't know much about eric castro but he's on pace to hit 38 home runs and be a forward player so he's an all-star for those uh he's the representative for the houston astros gordon beckham's going to get the start at second beltray's going to get this start at third vato he gets to start at first base um not a lot of power for joy vial this year only six home runs in his first season for the yankees however still a 374 obp i bet he'll have a stronger second half longoria gets the start at third base jed lowry gets the start at shorts up and i also see xander bogarts here i believe this is uh xander bogart sort of his breakout you're in this save so excited to see xander bogarts he's only 21 out of aruba uh let's see who else trout's in all-star obviously we have you know anaheil pagans hitting 330 colby rasmus cameron may been josh reddick gets the start as well at right field nationally kershaw gets the start not surprised by that at all um but you know john nice who the um diamondbacks just traded for and i think you know paid a lot for they gave up patrick corbett and aj pollock but they do get john neese he's an all-star lance lin's an all-star jeremy hefner is an all-star i know someone on twitter who's gonna like that zach cranky ryan dempster johnny cueto then we have uh steve seashek he's the leading vote getter among relievers in the national league craig kimbrell is an all-star despite the fact he has a five era or a 4.66 era that's based on just uh reputation alone at this point um jose bray is an all-star in his uh rookie season he was selected 10th overall by the um the rockies and the rockies are doing uh they're having a pretty interesting year they could be in playoff contention we'll just have to see posey's going to start catcher lecroy also having a monster here lukroy has been really really good in this save uh freddie freeman starts at first base uh anthony rendon's gonna start at second base uh starting at third base it looks like it's gonna be ryan zimmerman of the braves now by the way you know brian zimmerman signed a contract with the braves following the 2012 season but also you know don't worry nance fans because steven souza of all people is your third baseman and he's having a huge year rams ramirez also doing really well at the age of 36 ramirez is just chugging along for those milwaukee brewers tulo um wow i'm surprised tulo doesn't get the started shortstop but that goes to hanley those guys are both having just monster here's tulo and hanley and hey here's jimmy rollins we haven't talked much about jimmy rollins but jimmy rollins having a really good 2014 it looks like at the age of 35. near nearly 36 looks like he might be about 36 when the season is over so milky cabrera my goodness milky cabrera just can't be stopped like his batting averages 340 343 336 milky cabrera is unbelievable uh so he makes the all-star game uh this year matt holliday he's really good um jason hayward uh would have started center field but he's injured so looks like it's probably gonna be either charlie blackman or adam eaton and of course sean carlo jordan carlo having a very big year on pace for a nine war season um yeah john carlos just he's a superstar you know he's just an absolute superstar so those are your all-star rosters and uh yeah i will catch up with you guys at the trade deadline all right we're here at the trade deadline this is what the standings look like at the moment i don't think there's been too much movement over these last couple weeks i noticed that the chicago cubs now occupy the second wild card spot in the national league we talked about ryan dempster he's just continues to have just an absolutely monster season for ryan dempster but they have a really fun lineup too carlos gomez who they added in the offseason he's on pace for a four-war season thanks to some really nice defense chase headley has just been a really strong player throughout the save and he's still pretty good now as a their third baseman rizzo is there rizzo's having a really good year matt kemp is there they uh they signed him a couple off seasons ago he's having a solid year just a really solid team charlene castro and they're doing this with with javier baez out so um hopefully the the cubs will be able to hold on and and make the playoffs here in 2014 but now that we're at the trade deadline actually we're really past the trade deadline let's check it and see if there were any interesting transactions over the last month or so all right a few interesting trades here one absolutely massive one that i'm excited to get to but we'll start here with this trade that sends robbie ray from the national system to the tiger system this is not going to have a huge implications in terms of like winning and losing within the simulation i just thought it was interesting because you know robbie raises cy young winner so maybe that's something we want to keep track of but looking at his ratings and his potential probably not going to develop into that here this is a pretty big one that happened earlier in the month of july trade between kansas city and minnesota minnesota they go and they get a closer in the form of matt thorton he was not doing very well with kansas city he's doing a little bit better with minnesota but they go you know basically try and bolster their bullpen in return kansas city receives byron buxton and bayern buckstein's interesting because you know he was assigned to minnesota you know as part of that 2012 draft class right at the start of this uh simulation and you know you're looking at his ratings and his potential he might not develop into something you know much better than like a league average player but it's still interesting because it's byron buxton uh the the real prize of this deal may actually be david peterson who's looking like he could be a pretty solid pitching prospect although he's not doing great in the minors right now they also had another uh pitcher and dj baxtendale so that's an interesting trade but the biggest one for sure is a trade between the texas rangers and the atlanta braves that's going to send brian mccann at the age of 30 one of the top catchers in the league to the texas rangers and this is a really interesting trade because atlanta gets pretty good return they get kyle devore um who looks like he could be a decent pitching prospect although he's gonna probably only be a reliever he only has two pitches you get anthony mio who has maybe more potential as his starter but also maybe not quite as talented and then louis sardinis as well the big thing here with the rangers is you know they're going all in you know they they can feel the window closing you know they have players like beltray that are getting up there and this is sort of they're just going all in we're going to trade for brian mccann and mccann was really really good in 2013 before he got hurt he was also pretty solid in 2012 but this is definitely one of the better catchers in the league a fan favorite as well the other caveat here is his contract mccann is a contract extension that he's just recently signed here for the next seven years so he's under contract through the 2021 season and now uh the texas rangers are responsible for that so this is definitely like a win now mode for the rangers that could get them in trouble in the future but yeah that's a really interesting trade brian mccann now a member of the texas rangers right we are here on the last day of the regular season in 2014. the playoff picture is mostly set in the american league it is completely set the rays run away with the al east which was a pretty weak division overall this year in the central that's won by the tigers with an 85 and 76 record aos that trade for the rangers pays off they get mccann and they just go on to win their division really strong year for adrian beltray who is 325 he's as he's like a four war player as a dh gallo and continues to do well in his age 20 season he's almost 21. josh hamilton still going pretty strong he had 30 home runs this year so you know with like a guy like you darvish 2 and erika flaherty and the bullpen with 39 saves this may be the favorite in the american league in the playoffs the ale west also adds two more playoff teams in the form of the athletics and angels who grab wild card spots we've looked at the angels some let's look at the athletics they go 88 and 73 on the year jared parker has a really good year although he only starts 12 games that's unfortunate uh aj griffin tomlow dan straley and dan herron they finished off the rotation brian morse look at brian morris with a .69 era in 52 innings that's definitely very helpful this was just a fairly well-balanced team um good offense and really good ball pin cespedes you know he had 22 homers josh reddick was i believe an all-star game starter josh donaldson continues just to basically have the same season every year i respect his consistency yeah just a lot of like 20 homer guys here in the middle they have addison russell who uh had a pretty strong year although we only played about half the year so just a solid team overall oakland athletics um here in the national league east uh nationals ran away with that one cubs win the central diamondbacks win the west i think diamondbacks might be the favorite overall i'm really rooting for this diamondbacks team in this rangers team would love to see them square off in the world series the only thing that's not set is this last nl wild card spot so the rockies won 93 games they get that first wild card spot but the reds and dodgers are one game apart with one game to go so if the reds lose in the dodgers win today then there would be a game 163 so let's see what happens and it looks like the reds win and also the dodgers lose so the reds they grab that second wild card spot they have dd gregorius he's doing pretty well for them ryan ludwig he hits 31 homers and puts up a six war season wow ryan ludwig way to go man um they also have todd frazier they have a young young young 21 year old jesse winker who's starting to emerge as an above average hitter in the league they also have matt latos johnny cueto mike leake strong strong pitching jonathan papelbon is their closer he's been really good so that's the cincinnati reds for you and you know what that playoff picture set it is now time to find out who will win the world series in 2014 but first let's take a look at your league leaders for the 2014 season two liwitsky grabs himself a batting title he also leads slugging and ops although he is second in war to jean carlos stanton who had 9.4 war on the year big year for stanton um did stan win mvp last year yes he did so he's got a chance to repeat as the mvp interestingly enough carlos clinton and stanton led mlb with only 36 home runs so if you recall 2014 was actually a really low offensive environment just for the league in general i'm not sure if that's being quite reflected in the game here but it'll be interesting to see you know does the offense bounce back 2015 2016 2017 as the juiced ball gets introduced i'm not quite sure how um you know alex and i have set up the league but hopefully that'll happen matt holliday leads on base percentage with a 412. he had a really strong season he's just been a really strong player in this save even though we haven't talked about him too much he's just putting up some really solid offensive numbers good batting averages and i mean 347 412 541 6.5 war for matt holiday he's 34 years old still going very strong mookie betts leads doubles i haven't talked about bets too much but mookie betts who is a now a short stop for the boston red sox interestingly enough i know he's been playing some second maybe bogart's is hurt and that's why he was playing some short stop but mookie bets the thing with mookie bets is that he is mookie bets but it's like his defense isn't quite like he's not like the dominant corner outfielder that he has been in real life he's you know middle infielder and the power just hasn't developed for him he's still only 22 but you know he's at four and five home runs in 2013 and 2014 respectively but that hasn't stopped him from being a good player he's still like a three four work guy um and he's and he's young so he could still you know turn into one of the best players in the league stanton leads ops plus while he's tied with holiday so um those are your batting leaders pitching leaders best era is going to be david price he dominated all year he may be the guy that ends uh felix fernandez uh in his streak as far as the cy young award wins go um madison bumgarner had the best era in the national league he also led strikeouts with 280 he had a really good year he may be the cy young ryan dempster we talked about him greinke had a good year kershaw was good and then king felix you know might not win might not win the cy young award this year we'll see he's still got a chance still puts up a 8.2 war just a monster keep just keep going king felix just keep doing it to him um bumgarner and kershaw actually tied for strikeouts with 280 a piece we're hoping to see someone get 300 didn't happen chris sales stephen strasberg king felix and you darvish they rounded out and your saves leaders james russell james russell of the chicago cubs um 43 saves he had a 1.31 era and 68 innings could be a contender for reliever of the year so let's look at your pitching leaders we've also looked at our batting leaders and now it's time to see for real this time i promise who's going to win the world series we are here in the playoff tree and that is going to begin with a winner take all wild card round it's going to be the angels versus the a's in the american league the reds versus the rockies and the national league who comes out on top in these games the athletics they make it past the angels they're going to move on to a division series match up versus the rangers in the national league the reds win so the reds move on to face the arizona diamondbacks and now it's time for our division series um detroit is off to a quick lead as are the rangers and the nationals so they have a chance to sweep meanwhile the reds and diamondbacks are split one to one um the athletics and rays they they do win so they avoid the sweeps there um so do the cubs the reds win game three so they have a two to one lead over maybe the world series favorites the arizona diamondbacks so the diamondbacks they have a lot of work to do if they don't want to get eliminated here um let's see the nationals advance they're the first team to advance they beat the cubs 3-1 meanwhile over here we've got a bunch of game fives a bunch of winner-take-alls between the tigers and the rays the a's and the rangers and the diamondbacks in the red so we'll see what happens there uh rangers advance raise advance and who's going to advance here in the national league to face the nationals in the nlcs that's going to be the diamondbacks so the diamondbacks that come back against the reds so let's take a look at these final four teams get to know them just a little bit better looks like justin upton is hurt from the diamondbacks david bright uh a really strong year once again for the arizona diamondbacks he puts up another five war season just really good defense the the defense seems to like him in this game goldschmidt has a pretty good year he's been pretty consistent in this game so far adam eaton's been pretty good he's had two really solid back-to-back gears for the diamondbacks and it's just it's that rotation man wade miley john the niece uh trevor cahill and they've added bauer back into the rotation for the playoffs he started 22 games but also had 22 appearances as a reliever this year a lot of strikeouts for bauer though 210 so that's the diamondbacks at the moment nationals um uh 97 win team this year bryce harper uh solid season for bryce harper although maybe not up to par with his uh 2013. uh and laroche we talked about him he was really strong at the game of the year he just had a strong year steven souza might have been the best player on the team this year um where's rindon where's my oh rendon's hurt he's day-to-day but he also had a really good year so they have a bunch of good players on this nationals team it's a pretty stacked matchup here in that nlcs those rangers were definitely rooting for those rangers they have darvish as their ace they have a really interesting lineup they you know they traded for lorenzo kane he had a four war season uh they traded for brian mccann looks like he actually struggled in rangers uniform but if he comes up big in the playoffs here none of that will matter in kenzler's still there jerks and profar is there josh hamilton you know 30 homers for him as well as for joey gallo so that's a look at your texas rangers tampa bay rays looks like zobrist i know how to had a slow start to the year but he turns in another five-war season good old ben zobrist um they have uh bj upton as well omar narvaez the young catcher for them but yeah i mean it's really just about that rotation david price alex cobb matt moore wade davis all monster years they were ninth in run scored in the american league so this is a team really built off the strength of their starters and their bullpen as well really strong jake mckee's been you know one of the better relievers we've seen in this save sergio romo brook badenhob brandon go i mean look at how stacked this bullpen is so some really fun teams here we'll see what happens in these championship series looks like um rangers and rays are split uh diamondbacks off to a two nothing lead um rangers win game three and it's the diamondbacks wow diamondbacks have won the first three games of the series here they're up 3-0 on the nationals meanwhile the ranger's up 3-1 so this is actually the world series we're hoping for if it holds like this we're hoping to see diamondbacks versus rangers but what's gonna happen diamondbacks complete the sweep um and then we'll see what's happening here in the american league and it's the rangers and six so here we go oh boy rangers versus diamondbacks in the world series this is gonna be a really fun world series i kind of think it's the diamondbacks here but we'll see we'll see rangers win game one diamondbacks win game two game three goes to the rangers game four goes to the diamondbacks wow so we're split here going into game five game five that's won by the diamondbacks so now it's an elimination game game six here we go oh and the rangers force a game seven okay so we get another game seven last year we had a game seven and uh the mariners won now here we go rangers versus diamondbacks for all the marbles your world series champion in 2014 is the arizona diamondbacks the diamondbacks win in seven let's just take a look and see how that game seven went it was a pretty anticlimactic game seven it looks like the diamondbacks defeated the texas rangers eight to one um trevor cahill gets the win in that game david wright had a big triple in the first inning justin upton had a two-run double david wright also hit a two-run home run so a really good job by david wright in that game and in fact he is your world series mvp so amazing amazing universe we built for ourselves david wright is the world series mvp of the 2014 arizona diamondbacks you gotta love that good for david wright some strong serious performances here as well for the texas rangers joey gallow had four home runs his slugging was nearly a thousand so you got to feel bad for joey gallow there erica flaherty was really good he's their closer but yeah david wright wow david wright hit 581 during this series and select 968 he had 18 hits in seven games i mean that's got to be up there with the most hits in any like world series ever so yeah there you go that's your world series champions the arizona diamondbacks they won 102 games this year and they get it done i was going to say in october really november so there you go that's the 2014 season for you let's get this off season underway of course the offseason kicks off with our first year player draft this is the mechanism with which the game uses to assign new talent into the minor leagues you have alex bregman who appears to be sort of the bell of the ball but also ronda cuny jr you can get alex bregman at age 20 or you can get ronda cuny at age 16. it's up to you yuan molkada jake cronenworth andrew benintendi david fletcher general khan comes over at the age of 27 from korea harrison bader is also in this draft class um you also see some names like i see kyle tucker i see trent clark better known as trent grisham these days um but their star ratings are potential ratings not the highest so definitely you know bregman acuna worth paying attention to among the hitters in this class i want to look at the starting pitchers as well jack flaherty returns he was in the draft last year but did not sign he's going to be uh the biggest pitcher in this class it looks like tyler alexander jt brubacher junior guerra iglesias comes in as a starting pitching prospect that would be interesting to see mike sorocus here peter lambert chris paddock so um draft class like the it's starting to weaken just a bit it's not the strongest draft class we've ever seen but bregman's definitely going to be a franchise altering player and hopefully cuny will be as well even though he has a much more sort of like distance to develop if that makes sense um the draft order looks like this at the moment the padres had the worst record uh in mlb in 2014 so they'll pick first i'm curious to see the pirates have um two picks here so they pick 8th overall and 12th overall that could be pretty helpful for them the reason they have this pick is because i'm assuming they're the team that picked flaherty last year and then he didn't sign with them maybe they'll just pick him again this year we'll have to see but yeah that's what the draft order looks like the diamondbacks of course picked last because they are the world series champions and also because well actually it's based on regular season so they picked last because they won the most games at 102 so yeah let's see how this draft goes alright time for the draft and it starts with the san diego padres picking first who will they choose they will choose alex bregman so alex bregman is going to be a san diego padre i think it's the right pick he's ready to be like a league average infielder right now and could very soon develop into one of the best players in the league so he's the first player selected next up is houston who are by the way are now playing in the al west um houston is going to pick ronda cunha so ronnie kunya jr he joins the houston astros perhaps you know with an upside greater even than that of alex bregman but he has a long way to develop we have that talent change randomness we have those injuries there's a lot of things that could go wrong but they pick acuna um they still have to sign him though and it's not gonna be easy to sign him so we'll have to see what happens there philadelphia has the third pick they are going to pick you on monkata so monkata joins the phillies again really strong player that avoid case though that could be the undoing he's going to strike out a lot for sure next pick goes to toronto and toronto is going to pick jack flaherty so they get the number one pitcher in this class jack flaherty looking like a really strong player um who hopefully will be in that rotation maybe not this year but but probably by like you know at least 2016 we'll see him uh jung ho kong goes to or should i say gong i guess goes to the cleveland spiders he's 27 he's a finished product he's coming over from the kbo in this save we have next pick with the boston red sox they picked jake cronin worth jake cronin worth 20 years old about to be 21 he's the sixth pick in the draft really versatile player the the boston red sox get jake cronin worth next pick ben and tendy interestingly enough goes to the royals so ben and tindy could have been picked by the red sox which is the team that drafted him originally now he's on the royals which is the team he most recently played for in real life so ben and tindy joins the royals pittsburgh is going to pick junior guerra a pitcher for them and then uh next pick will be mike soroka ooh mike's roca joining the mets wow okay uh braves pitcher joins a division rival in this save and finally let's do the 10th pick baltimore they select scott kingery scott kingery joins the baltimore orioles really good gap power potential on scott kingry so yeah let's finish up this draft and just see where everyone else went here's the rest of the first round the white sox picked paul de young the pirates with their second pick they picked iglesias mariner's got jt brubacher yankee's got kyle tucker twins got tyler alexander braves ian happ marlon's got david fletcher um you can see sort the rest of the pics there here's the second round the white sox pick austin riley 17 years old the angels get brendan rodgers just i'm just looking at interesting names here at the moment uh the rays get trent clark now better known as trent grisham we have um let's see third round here the twins pick lj newsome um the giants pick rosie castillo the cardinals pick brian hayes okay interesting um moving on here to the fourth round uh the orioles pick hoy park the brewers pick miles straw the reds pick dylan moore and then fifth round um padres piquetsu sanchez the um yankees pick louise ringhifo the reds pick josh naylor yeah those are just some kind of interesting names that stood out to me so there's your first year player draft for 2014. um of course headlined by bregman going to the padres and acuna going to the astros be interesting to see how those players impact their teams long term now it's time for rewards i haven't really done batting titles i don't think but i'll just talk about him real quick howie kendrick won a batting title in the american league he hit 333 tulawitsky won in the national league at 353 so let's move on here to the american league gold glove winners josh beckett i feel like has won like quite a few of these he won yep 2012 2013-2014 as the american league pitcher matt wieders is here as well he's won this is his fourth in a row will myers wins at first base that's his first career gold glove as a first baseman interestingly enough gordon beckham just had a pretty solid year he was a four war player this year league average hitter um also an all-star brett laurie wins at third base this is the second year in a row he's won that austin jackson wins in left field second year in a row he's won that bernard spy dinard's band won for the cleveland spiders they traded for him this past offseason and he wins a gold glove for them in center field and jay bruce wins in right field for the mariners moving on here to the national league clayton richard wins that's his second in a row as a pitcher yadier molina wins the gold glove award again uh he won in 2013 2012 20 you get you get the point yadier molina he's good at defense another five war season a really good offensive season for him as well he hit 316. so yadier molina very good at baseball confirmed neil walker wins at first base he won last year i think and fonte won it second base he won last year i think noah arnotto i think these are a lot of repeats here uh brendan ryan he wins another gold glove award that's his third in a row now as a member of the pittsburgh pirates just uh justin upton wins a gold glove that's his second in a row john jay wins a gold glove wow i mean it's literally just like it's literally just like you could have just sent me the same email although we do have a new gold glove winner and that's going to be giancarlo stanton in right field for the miami marlins moving on here the reliever of the year in the american league is brian morris with a .69 era and 52 innings pitched we talked about him really dominant season for the oakland athletics kelvin herrera continues to impress in this save era under two once again very strong player and then erica flaherty also gets a first place vote he leads saves with 39 in el reliever of the year james russell unanimous um yeah i mean he was pretty pretty great season 68's pitched 43 saves 1.31 era and can't go wrong with that steve seashek and tyler clifford also picking up some uh second place third place votes there your platinum stick winners which is really just uh your um silver slugger winners miguel montero wins at catcher miguel cabrera wins at first base uh cabrera his you know you look at his 2012 he was so good he's starting to fall off just a little bit maybe starting to age just a little bit um he's signed through 2015. chris taylor wins the uh silver slugger for second base he's become a really strong base dealer in this save he stole 45 bases as well this year mustaches wins at third base for the royals although i see interestingly enough now a los angeles angel so that's a really big trade to trade you know a young player like mustakas who's you know one of the better third baseman in the league i'm curious to see what that trade is looking like it just went through today it looks like kansas city in return received jonathan walsh who looks like a pretty pretty serious outfield prospect so i like that trevor hildenberger comes through i love trev um hopefully he'll become just like a monster reliever in this safe that would be fun to see mike clevenger also in this trade and andy otero so this is a huge blockbuster this is definitely the biggest trade we've seen as far as like a young player getting traded for like big time prospects so that's a fun trade to see but that's mike mustakis mike trout also wins the silver slugger here in um in center field he only played 126 games but interestingly enough mike try nost was the only player in the american league with an ops over 900 this year so you know and his ops plus was 154 he had seven war he could still be like an mvp candidate despite the fact he only played 126 games i want to look at his injury history here looks like he had a hamstring strain that he suffered uh in at the end of august so we really missed uh all of september but yeah that's my travel for you and it's just you know 2014 was kind of like a a weird year of the pitcher in mlb in real life so that's definitely being reflected here josh redick wins in right field beltray wins designated hitter that's awesome to see um here you are for the national league um silver slugger winners bumgarner wins for pitchers luke roy just continues just to i mean he's just been absolutely nails in this safe goodness gracious i mean he's just a machine um freddy freeman wins for the uh first base honest ramirez man aramis ramirez look at this guy like 8.4 war 8.4 war this is like his age season unbelievable um turn of events here for ramirez who continues to do well for the brewers rindone wins it second base that's the first of his career he's blooming into like he's one of the best you know young players uh toulowitsky wins its shortstop he's an mvp candidate for sure matt holliday wins left field jason hayward wins centerfield again well like if jason hayward just could play 150 games he would win an mvp award for sure and john carlo wins it right field um 9.4 war season for jean carlo that led all of mlb bogarts is your nationally rookie of the year um he was playing uh mostly shortstop for the red sox played full season league average hitter forward player he's your american league rookie of the year but eric castro interestingly enough uh he receives more first place votes he had 30 homers this year although honestly if i were voting i would have voted for bogarts polanco narvaez and tanaka also receive uh votes tanaka had a really strong year good for tanaka rookie of the year in the national league is going to be jose abreu not too surprised by that he had a five more season over in colorado kyle schwerber also received some first place votes so he's come up with the marlins here at the age of uh 21 uh hits 27 home runs 135 ops plus good season for schwarber chris owings joey terdoslovich i was a big fan of church wow look at tradocelovich's like batting rings like he could be really good actually um but not not a great season for him but he does receive a couple votes silfredo garcia okay picture for the saint louis cardinals um cesar hernandez or cesar um yeah there you go and then ale uh best manager that's gonna be joe madden of the tampa bay rays kirk gibson wins for the diamondbacks they of course won the world series as well cy young winner in the american league is david bryce david price uh unanimous 30 out of 30 first place votes he led wins he led era he led innings pitched he led war makes sense so that ends felix's streak he finishes third but felix again massive year for him you darvish gets the runner up he struck out 231 batters he went 14-5 with a 2.85 era jared weaver gets some down ballot votes he had a really good season 2.76 era chris sale by the way um i just saw it as a headline it was scrolling by he leads strikeouts um but also he threw a no-hitter this year so congrats to chris sale um who finishes uh fourth in the voting or fifth in the voting um josh johnson matt moore jared parker justin verlander poor justin verlander got hurt he was having a really good season probably would have been up here you know maybe competing with price even if he had stayed healthy bumgarner is your national league style young award winner he gets 24 out of 30 possible first place votes he leads era he leads strikeouts with 280 actually he's tied with clayton kershaw who received five push five first place votes of his own kershaw struck out 280 hitters he also had 9.2 f4 on the year so he led f4 ryan dempster gets a first place vote with a 2.37 era huge season for him good year for granky once again 2.50 era that's the best year he's had in this simulation so far i would say gio gonzalez he continues to just to be mr consistent over here geo gonzalez just always good for the washington nationals wade miley team strasberg jeremy hefner matt latos let's look at let's look at hefner real quick i mean hefner 198 innings pitched 2.6 2.67 era i mean what a great pitcher for the new york mets all right mvp awards in the net and the american league almost a national league it is mike trout this was one of those years where i think he could have definitely justified pitcher mvp considering how dominant david price was he almost wins it he gets 12 first place votes but mike trout gets 18 first place votes despite only playing 126 games he is your american league mvp is his first mvp award in this save he had some like runner-up type seasons or some seasons where he didn't quite win it beltray finished his third i'm curious to see what beltrade like positionally played this year because i feel like he was playing mostly dh yep mostly as a dh but beltry actually finishes third in mvp voting um he led the league in hits this year uh mustakas who is now an angel he finishes fourth and al pagan finished his fifth he's been um really good in this save so yeah that's sure that's your american league mvps other down ballot guys donaldson sono gallo king felix howie kendrick who won that banning crown eric hosmer with royals darvish longoria who won the award in 2013 zobrist hamilton colby rasmus miguel cabrera josh reddick moving on to the national link here to national league mvp by split decision destroyed two lewitsky tulitsky and stanton both received uh 15 first place votes each looks like um just towards the very end of the season tulitsky suffered a broken hand but it couldn't stop him he led ops he was playing really dominant shortstop he had 8.7 more but can't sleep on stanton either he led home runs he had 9.4 award he was a gold glove winner in right field so um really good matchup between those two but tuliwitzki just comes out on top steven souza finishes third i mean what a crazy year for steven souza goodness gracious it's the third baseman he's going crazy matt holiday hanley ramirez ryan ludwig we talked about him anthony rendon jason hayward ryan dempster bumgarner freeman laroche yeah laroche just had a really solid year for those washington nationals rizzo trevor story okay this is the first um you know we've gotten to really talk about trevor's story george story had a really good rookie year it looks like in 2013 but he bound but he comes back and he just does way better in 2014 his first true full season plays 160 games 26 homers 22 steals six war player way to go trevor story and interestingly enough it looks like he's playing um second base at the moment jose abreu clayton kershaw matt kemp with the cubs wade miley corey seeger jonathan lucroy we can talk about sega real quick too because seeger's just been taking the league by storm i mean this was his age 20 season goodness gracious and he's a five war player for those dodgers and he still has room to grow so corey seeger could turn into an absolute monster in this but yeah those are your awards your mvps tulawitzki and trout your cy young winners bumgarner and price so let's move on to free agency free agency is here and it's headlined by a couple big names one of those is hanley ramirez who has turned in some massive seasons with the marlins in 2013 and 2014 he becomes a free agent he's capable of playing pretty much anywhere in the infield although i think second base may be where he's best suited and of course the other huge free agent is david price coming off a cy young award win as well as a wonderful 2013 season he's definitely the number one pitcher in this class and he and hanley are just the clear top two adrian beltray also hits free agency he mostly played dh last year he'll be 36 next year but had a good season you know 131 ops plus 4.1 more so beltray hits free agency he could be leaving texas also hitting free agency is elvis andrews elvis andrews uh played his last season with the arizona diamondbacks now he's a free agent he's had some pretty good seasons like last year had a 387 on base percentage that's pretty great for a slick defensive shortstop so andrews hits free agency ryan braun's a pretty big one he's had a couple solid seasons in la ever since he left the milwaukee brewers it looks like he exercised and opt out so he's back on free agency at the age of 31 currently uh next would be matt wieders who has really turned in some like impressive defensive performances as the catchers won four straight gold gloves in the american league so even though he hasn't always hit you know he's he's done well but last year in 2014 he does come through as about a league average hitter so when you combine that with his great catcher defense he has a lot of value and he's pretty young too cameron maben's a free agent he's been playing with uh the mets and baltimore roast most recently but yeah he's a free agent and um maybe one more we can talk about justin masterson we've got ourselves one more pitcher um of note he's demanding about 12 million it looks like maybe he'll sign like uh um you know a lengthy deal at 12 million he's had some good seasons for cleveland and uh yeah justin masterson hitting for the agency overall i would say the class is a bit weaker than some that we've seen in this simulation but you still have some of that top tier talent in the form of hanley ramirez and david price it is now january 21st 2015 hall of fame voting results are in and this year's class is made up of randy johnson pedro martinez john smoltz mike russina and gary sheffield as i've kind of said before when alluding to the how the hall of fame voting is working it looks like it's just based on stats at the moment there's not a lot of you know uh character concerns pd concerns baked in so this is really just kind of hall of stats at the moment craig biggio he got 63 this is his third year on the ballot and then you've got a lot of guys who stayed on the ballot but did not get a huge share of the vote names like bagwell who is a hall of famer in real life larkin edgar martinez uh larry walker you know uh kenny lofton is one guy we're definitely rooting for here we want him to stay on the ballot and hopefully get in so that's a look at your hall of fame voting uh five new players added to the class including four starting pitchers at the moment not a lot of trades this offseason that have been interesting we already kind of covered this one but this was the big trade that sort of kicked off the off-season in late november trevor hildenberger mike clevenger and jonathan walsh as well as um andy otero going to the kansas city royals in exchange for mike mustakis who just had a big year i think he finished about like maybe fifth in mvp voting hit 31 home runs but we talked about that already these other uh trades that have come in so far this winter not that interesting so i think we can just sort of move on here and take a look at where the top three agents have signed hanley ramirez is going to go to the philadelphia phillies he signs a how long is this contract seven year deal worth 162 million dollars they currently have him slated to play third base they have josh rutledge at second base and their shortstop currently is eric ibarr so the philly 65 and 97 last year they do add hanley ramirez that's a big splash signing for them ellis andrews is going to join the los angeles angels of anaheim on a seven-year deal worth about a hundred million looks like he's going to play shortstop for them so uh you know the angels who were playoff team last year they add elvis andrews that should be a pretty good ad for them david price is going to the cubs for a seven year deal worth about 175 million dollars the cubs add you know the biggest pitcher available uh cy young award winner the rotation currently they have david price they have ryan dempster who also had a huge year travis wood kyle hendricks and this guy yao lin wong so that's the chicago cubs rotation it becomes a lot stronger with the addition of price ryan braun is going to stay in la he signs a five-year deal with the dodgers so he opted out he came back to la and uh he got more money because of it matt wieters is joining the tampa bay rays on a six-year deal that's a good ad for the raise weeders has been pretty solid player throughout this save and it's at a you know fairly low aav so looks like he's currently batting fifth for them playing catcher just a really solid player overall switch hitter too uh let's see who else here uh masterson masterson uh is going to also be joining the la dodger so dodgers spending a lot in free agency they haven't quite emerged as like a baseballing super power you know the same way they were around say you know 2014 they had such a strong team but maybe these are the guys that get them over the humps so braun comes back they also signed justin masterson and matcheson gets himself a seven-year deal worth about 95 million so he's done pretty well for himself and free agency their rotation at the moment clayton kershaw justin masterson chad billingsley nathan ivaldi and john ellie eli not too familiar with this player but that's the rotation right now and they've had some good offensive performances from the likes of seeger and you know bronze coming back they're still waiting on peterson peterson had a really down year after you know just a phenomenal 2013 season as a rookie 2014 uh which wish i could say the same but no it was a pretty terrible year so hopefully that lineup gets more consistent that rotation gels and they'll be one of the better teams in the national league next year but yup those are your top free agents that have signed so far top free agents still available jed lowry jj hardy sergio romo and bernard spann i might have spoken too soon about the trades because we're here at the dawn of spring training and there's actually three really interesting trades that have gone down in about the last month or so the first one is uh chicago has traded jake peavy to the milwaukee brewers peavey was an american league all-star in 2014 had a really nice season he's now a milwaukee brewer they also send micah johnson a minor league infielder in that trade in return the white sox receive david cooper who is a major league first baseman looks to be a pretty solid player only 28 years old and last year in 319 plate appearances had a 748 ops and a 106 ops plus maybe he'll be like a full-time starter for them and then uh argenis rodriguez uh pitching prospect only 18 with some uh real potential but that's a trade right there the brewers go out and they get jake peavy that's gonna help bolster their rotation this one's pretty interesting the braves trade tommy hansen who last year had a 3.99 era he's going to oakland in return for a 20 year old matt olson so matt olson um on the braves that's actually you know been kind of a rumor in this real life offseason that you know if the braves don't resign freddie freeman maybe they pursue matt olsen and they also get ozzy albies so ozzy albies was selected by oakland in that first year player draft but now he comes back to the team where he really belongs which is the atlanta brave so the braves get all bees they get olsen however you know with the potential with the development with the star ratings you know olson might be like an average player it looks like and and albies might be more of like a utility player it's yet to be seen if they'll turn out as successful as their real-life mlb counterparts so that's a trade right there final trade right here kind of a similar situation with cody bellinger cody bellinger was drafted by the baltimore orioles and that first year player draft a couple years ago he is now on his way to join the st louis cardinals so he'll be a minor leaguer for the st louis cardinals still only 19 years old still with some potential but maybe not um you know maybe not certain that he'll be like the true you know superstar who just burst onto the scene like he did in real life but that's cody bellinger now joining the st louis cardinals uh also joining the cardinals is uh reliever chris tillman um who looks like he you know has bounced between the bullpen and the starting rotation uh in return baltimore got rowdy to les uh 19 year old first baseman as well and they also get chichi gonzalez who uh looks like he's going to be like a decent relief prospect could be like an average reliever in the league but yeah those are three pretty important trades you know the the cardinals get cody bellinger the braves get olson and albies and uh the brewers get jake peavy so three trades going down just as we get into the preseason right here and now it's time for spring training ahead of opening day i'm just going to take a look at some of the injury news around the league and very unfortunate for the dodgers because they have kind of a double whammy here first of all clayton kershaw and i have the storylines turned on in this game clayton kershaw has injured himself while throwing his alarm clock across the room will not have to take some time off to recuperate and heal he has an eighth month long injury with a torn flexor tendon in his elbow so clayton kershaw suffering an injury that's going to take him about eight months to recover from i mean he's he's not gonna pitch this season and the double whammy comes with corey seeger as well you know his their star pitcher is gone now it's their star hitter corey seeger suffering a torn pcl that's also going to sideline him for the year so already before opening day even kicks off on 2015 just a huge blow for the los angeles dodgers you know a couple more interesting ones john gray uh has a four month injury with the uh with the los angeles angels dustin pedroia i'm not sure if we were keeping much track of pedroia but petroya joined the milwaukee brewers he's been kind of amped with them but he's suffered an injury that's going to leave him out for five to six months so yeah this cranky injury is you know unfortunate but it's only six weeks so at least the brewers don't quite get a double whammy there because granky's been pretty darn good for them yeah that's some injury news around the league and let's just check in with some of the league's top players going into the 2015 season so here's kind of a who's who around the league who are the top players right now looking at four star better hitters it starts with troy tulawitzki who is of course your reigning mvp in the national league that's really cool so it starts with tulawitsky but lucky for the rockies it also has trevor story who is now a four-star player possibly on his way to being a five-star player trevor story uh is one of the emerging is one of the top like young players in the league kyle schwarber is one although you know i'm gonna do i've talked about this a little bit before kyle schwarber comes in with some really nice catch ratings it's just not realistic for me so we're going to knock him down a little bit and he'll have to play um left field the only edits i've been doing are are players like this like schwarber like josh donaldson like g-man choi like pablo sanoval who have some catching experience the game is kind of overrating that and i just want to make sure you know catchers like luke roy or molina or grand doll you know make sure they get their respect because otherwise it's going to really water down the catcher position because you're going to have all these great offensive catchers that let's be honest aren't really catchers so we're going to edit schwarber but yeah miguel sano you know he's been in the league for quite a bit but now he's really developed he he's a guy that could easily lead the league in home runs had a six war season last year playing third base for the minnesota twins uh anthony rizzo anthony rendon you know these guys 24 and 25 they're young mustaches now on the los angeles angels molina he's 32 but he's still one of the top players crazy good defender lukroy has an injury it's a hamstring strain for seven weeks so all he's kind of like you know nagging injuries for the brewers coming into this season matt kemp on the cubs joey gallo age 21 on the rangers freddie freeman josh donaldson chris davis were hoping for a bounce back from this year he had such a good season in 2013. 2014 he was hurt and just the numbers weren't as good so we'll have to see what happens with chris davis robinson canoe he's he's on the red sox now um his first season with a red sox not good wow really not good and he's still under contract for them uh for a few more years at a pretty high uh aav so he'll be interesting to watch miguel cabrera he's kind of on a downward trend but he's still good mookie betts uh second baseman currently for the boston red sox uh we're talked about that power a lot if that power develops then yeah he's gonna be like the mookie bets we know and love but so far four home runs five home runs in his first couple of seasons he's only 22. that powers could still come along javier baez pretty much injured missed all of last year but good ratings all around great defender you know can play second base could play shortstop high level joey votto power not so much last year only hit 15 home runs but still 385 on base percentage he's less respective league and on base percentage you know the last uh like five years so pretty good from joy vado who's on the new york yankees by the way uh giancarlo stanton he's just been a monster these last two seasons led the nln war uh in 2013 and 2014 so that's stanton ramirez we talked about him he joins the phillies buster posey he's just been just been pretty monstrous these last few years he won mvp in 2012 just as he did uh in real life that was the first year of this simulation brett laurie a little bit surprised by this but brett laurie is a freaking stud in this goodness gracious look at these ratings he's put together some pretty good numbers but i think the talent changed randomness the development has hit him just right and wow he may put down like he could be an mvp candidate for all we know these are just crazy good ratings he's kind of looking like a like a mini machado or something like that it looks like he could even play shortstop too if you needed him to wow brett laurie beast at age 25. matt holiday he just keeps on uh you know just keeps on trucking like he's this is age 35 season he was great last year for the cardinals led the national league on base percentage with 412. jason hayward this guy like he he he's got to win an mvp award at some point like that's where we're at with him 2013 2014 just insane years insane years but the injury seems like preventing him from becoming like that top tier mvp candidate he has money grand all he's questing to be the top catcher in the league but there's still guys like posey and molina and even lukroy standing in his way that's the young yasmani grandal with the padres trout he got his first mvp award last year despite only playing 126 games harper kind of a step back last year but still really good in 2014 his 2013 uh was pretty immense and then carlos gonzalez cargo he's just has crazy ratings gain really likes him at the moment and he's just put up you know uh five war season six war season five war season with the rockies who have just a really strong core of position players overall with guys like cargo blackman story to lewitsky rockies keep an eye out for them top starting pitchers in the league at the moment steven strasburg is one of them with the washington nationals he's had two immense years back to back in 2013 and 2014. chris sale he's emerging as you know one of the top pitchers in the league let the american league get strikeouts last year so you see sabathia here he is this would be like his age 34 maybe even age 35 season with the yankees he's just been you know mr consistent a lot of innings always giving you you know above league average or i should say below league average uh era just a good pitcher overall workhorse ryu on those rockies he had a great 2014 after a not so great um 2013 at least by era in 2013 by fip he was actually really good uh so that's that's yunji ryu matt lados he's turned in some pretty solid performances he comes back from you know an injury riddle 2013 and throws down pretty good 2014 for the reds let's see who's up next josh johnson uh left miami now on a deal with the tigers had a really good first year with the tigers you know he was so dominant about 10 years ago it's been kind of fun to watch his career be re-simulated a big fan of josh johnson cole hamill still with the philadelphia phillies just kind of mr consistent a lot of innings you darvish strikeout machine he struck out 249 274 and 231 in his first three seasons here as a member of the texas rangers johnny cueto he won a cy young award in 2013 2014 not quite as good but i mean he's been one of the top pitchers throughout this safe so far bumgarner is your 2014 nlc young award winner so he just had a pretty monster year last year and honestly in 2013 pretty good as well uh felix fernandez i think has probably been the best player in this save overall certainly at least the best pitcher just some crazy crazy numbers that felix hernandez has put up he's also a world series champion because the seattle mariners won the world series in and then you've got clayton kershaw who is unfortunately injured looks like he's gonna miss like the full season but um yeah i mean he he put up some numbers last year man and he's a saiyan award winner in 2011 which was before we started simulating but also a cy young winner in 2012 so that's uh clayton kershaw for you hopefully he can get back on track even though he'll miss this season and that's very unfortunate now we can check in with the top prospects going into the 2015 season number one is going to be alex bregman who selected first overall in the first year player draft just last winter he's on the san diego padres looks like he's going to start in triple a but probably be up in the majors pretty soon at the age of 21. real muto still has not made oh he has actually made his mlb debut but he is uh still a prospect he still has rookie eligibility hopefully you know this is the year that he kind of like breaks through breaks in and asserts himself as one of the best catchers in the league his defensive rings are really really nice so even if he's not the best of hitters to start with he could still be a really valuable player for those marlins carlos correa with the astros you know selected first overall in that 2012 draft which we actually didn't simulate um he had a really good season in the minors last year he's number third prospect ranked right now brandon woodruff number four he was uh drafted third overall in that 2013 first year player draft by the chicago white sox looks like he has made his debut had a few appearances coming out of the bullpen still a lot of room to grow for ryan woodruff who's uh 22 years old if that slider comes along that's going to be the key because he needs that third pitch to be a starting pitcher in this league he's a guy i've never heard of jason lebleb from illinois he's he's currently 23 soon to be 24 and he is a second baseman looks like a really solid defensive second baseman who has the potential to be just like a huge you know on base power he's just gonna he's got a potential to rake basically he could be a great offensive second baseman in this league never heard of this guy but the blue jays have him and considering how the blue jays have kind of struggled throughout this save it's good that they have a top prospect like this rafael devers he's on the baltimore orioles hermann marquez he's on the nationals jack flaherty he's on the blue jay so the blue jays have two top ten prospects that's pretty cool sean newcomb i'm just really uh caught my eye because he's just a he's kind of just an insane prospect because he has 80 stuff so he's going to have huge strikeouts so it's all about can that control develop because if that control develops with that stuff i mean i mean we're talking just like mega ace like lead the league in strikeouts every year type of guy and then katel marte rounds out the top ten here's the rest of your uh top prospects this is your top 100 you just kind of read along seeing a lot of interesting names here a lot of familiar names there's matt olson who just got picked up by the braves uh there's cody bellinger just got traded for by the cardinals some interesting guys and we round off the list with regnetto door the rangers uh harrison bader on the tigers jake barrett starting pitcher for the orioles and michael walker on the cardinals so those are your top 100 prospects going into this year now let's take a look at sort of this preseason predictions who does the game think are going to be the top teams for the 2015 season so here are your preseason predictions for the 2015 season the game thinks the boston red sox are going to come out on top in that american league east winning that potentially by one game over the raise let's take a look at those boston red sox they have mookie betts leading off he's playing second base for them alex gordon batten second alex gordon had a really good 2013 for them 2014 a little bit of a step back robinson canoe they definitely need him if they're going to win the division this year he had an atrocious first season in boston 2014 no doubt he was getting booed david ortiz this is his age 39 season starting to decline had a not so great 2014. i mean he's still an above average hitter but it was not you know the quality we've seen in previous years in the decade for david ortiz but he's still going i mean he's got decent ratings he could still definitely put up some numbers cody ross coco crisp euclis xander bogarts he was in contention for rookie of the year last year starting shortstop for the red sox be interesting to see what he does this year they have john lester in that rotation keith couch don't know much about much about keith couch felix dupronte kevin correa sean marcum so definitely some question marks in that rotation for me but should be an interesting team to watch tigers projected to win the american league central they have miggy still angel pagan's been really big in this and iohinio suarez has been sort of like a crazy prospect at times in this save he had his rookie year last year in a hundred games he put together a 105 ops plus and 2.8 war looks like he's going to be a solid player but maybe not like a total superstar like we maybe suspected at first but it's all about this rotation with detroit they have josh johnson they have rick porcello they have justin verlander they have doug fister they have this guy thomas collier filling in at the moment but they also have like scherzer who unfortunately appears it's out for three months with a torn rotator cuff when he comes back that's like you know probably the strongest rotation jeff francis as well he's pretty solid depth i mean goodness gracious jeff francis had a 2.95 era last year so uh pitching for days on this team austin jackson also a guy who has won gold gloves last couple seasons so that's pretty fun austin jackson and really interesting player angels projected to win the west would love to see that obviously they had elvis andrews this offseason and so that was a big acquisition for them mike mustakis as well i mean these two they should be difference makers and i'm curious to see if that actually results in them winning the west they still have trout obviously stuff pujols obviously howie kendrick he won a batting title last year and just a good solid rotation and i'm curious about this because you know they have weaver shields wilson garrett richards solid pitchers all around they add max russell to the rotation so uh max russell who was a reliever of the year in 2013 had a couple starts in 2014 as well wasn't nearly as good but he's actually going to pitch out of the rotation this year so that'll be an interesting thread to follow braves projected to win the national league national league east um you know but with a projected 98-64 record they have tradosovic who looks like he could be like a huge on base percentage guy for them leading off hayward obviously like just complete freaking nature in this they have ryan zimmerman jeff freeman they have martin prado they have curtis granderson um they have evan gaddis and angel tim simmons now he's been jumping up he's been you know putting up those crazy anderton simmons defensive numbers although he's not quite you know the monster we've seen in real life defensively but he's still pretty good and he's like a league average hitter too which is key they have medlin miner tehran 40 year old kuroda and williams perez in that rotation pretty underrated rotation i would say craig kimbrell of course the stud of that bullpen but they also have alex wood there they have reynold delgado that's the atlanta braves red's projected to win the nl central they have dd gregorius who's been pretty good for them ryan ludwig coming off a 31 homer a year but it really comes down to the pitching for them cueto matt latos mike leake homer bailey edison volkes just a it's a good rotation it's a really good rotation and then sean marshall and jonathan papelbon overall have been really good in the bullpen for them but it's the rockies who are projected to have the best record in baseball with 100 wins it's kind of hard to argue against them you know the pitching is getting better ryu had a good season last year they have gallardo uh and then pulling out the backhand rotation it's decacio drew pomeranz and wade leblanc they just need like decent from those guys because it's all about the lineup david dahl jose abreu cargo tulo blackman story will and rosario and of course you know you're doing good when nolan arenado is batting eighth i mean this this rockies lineup they're on a watch for like to score like a thousand runs this year maybe they'll even do something crazy like score 1100 like this is a this is crazy you look you know at who the league projects to be like the the top hitters in the national league you see blackman you see tulo you see cargo you see abreu all colorado rock you see story it's unbelievable hanley also projected to do well this is his first year with the phillies top pitchers in the national league projected bum garner price in his first year with the cubs strasbourg gio gonzalez he's always been good johnny cueto in the american league top hitters projected right now trout cabrera vada with the yankees ceno age 21 with the twins jonathan scope here's jonathan scope maybe this will be a big season for him the game seems to think that top pitchers chris sale felix fernandez mas hero tanaka who is a minnesota twin james paxton and jared parker jared parker last year had a 2.16 era only started 12 games but he's a good young starter for those oakland a's definitely their ace so keep an eye out for him but yep those are the preseason predictions i actually just want to do one quick like recap of the off season real quick okay i went hunting for that screen that can show like teams that have added or lost the most war this offseason unfortunately i've sinned ahead to opening day so i wasn't able to bring that up however this did catch my eye a trade that went through at the end of march here at the end of spring training stalin castro is going to join the tampa bay rays he's still only 25 years old really good defensive shortstop in this game has put up you know some pretty high war totals because of that even though his hitting has been you're just kind of consistently slightly above average so that's starlin castro going to the rays and return the cubs they just get a bunch of pitching prospects they get nick sawyer who you know a guy with nasty stuff but questionable in terms of stamina and especially in terms of control as a starting pitcher you know seems like he could be a relief ace if that doesn't work sean minaya um you know 23 years old prospect good pitch makes good stamina home runs you know could be his downfall but it seems like he has at least a higher floor than sawyer as a starting pitcher and then they also get marcus jensen as well so cubs moving on from starlin castro i imagine this is probably like his last year yeah this is last year before he hits free agency so um yeah that's the cubs they get pitching prospects in return curious to see who they have playing shortstop right now i see okay that makes sense they move baez to play shortstop for them and then it looks like they have everett cabrera who's stolen a lot of bases in this simulation he's led the league three times 73 55 47 he's going to play second base for the cubs and so that's how they're set up currently i went ahead and simulated the first couple months of the 2015 season it's currently may 31st 2015. hey look jt ralmuto he's up he's doing his thing with the miami marlins i mean he's put up you know at close to a 900 ops he's hitting 344 with a 409 on base percentage as an elite defensive catcher in this league on pace for an eight war season it's early days but that's definitely fun to see and we haven't talked about yelich too much but yelich is uh off to what could be just a sort of breakout year for him he had a solid 2014 with miami but 2015. i mean that could really be his year but the talk of the town has to be the new york mets let's look at the standings real quick because it's kind of unbelievable the mets are 35 and 14. they are they've won 71 of their games including seven in a row coming into may 31st it's unbelievable we'll have to look at them uh brewers and pirates they're tied in the nl central san francisco giants lead the nl west two games in front of the uh uh defending champion i should say arizona diamondbacks and also ahead of the rockies we're definitely keeping an eye on aos is led by the rangers ale central is led by the royals ale east is led by the rays but i gotta look at those mats what's going on with those mets mets what's going on with the mets great rotation for the mats let's start with that matt harvey is there he's putting down a 3.57 era so far jeremy hefner who was like an all-star and like a down ballot like cy young guy last year he's off to a phenomenal start to this season his era is below two jacob degrom former number one prospect in baseball this may be the year where he really comes into his own last year he split time between the bullpen and starting rotation through 128 innings total but this year firmly cemented in the rotation through his first 10 starts he has a 3.15 era he's also struck out 82 batters in those first 10 starts that's pretty great way to go mr jacob degrom at the age of 26 patrick corbin who they traded for and what was a pretty big trade and i think could be a win-win trade because john neese was definitely instrumental for the diamondbacks to win that world series but the mets got patrick corbin in return for that he's looking like he could be a real stud this could be a breakout season for him he split time between the rotation and the bullpen and zach wheeler so some good young pitching on this mets team um carrying them to a very strong start to the season their uh lineup features players like aj pollock also received in that trade alongside uh patrick corbin daniel murphy's hitting well i think marcakus is doing really well for them he's been on the mats for a while but this looks to be his best season in a mets uniform so far russell martin is here he's having a good season with the mets also had a really good 2014 and 2013 with the mets so he's just kind of been mr consistent so yeah that's the mess for you currently the best team in baseball 35 wins and 14 losses i'd also like to take some time to admire the texas rangers who currently have the best record in the american league they have opened up a five and a half game lead over the oakland athletics in that american league west so the texas rangers with a record of 32 and 17. they have hamilton they have gallow they have davis we've checked them out before but um you darvish having a really really good year for them and you know this guy matt harrison i haven't talked about him too much but you know he definitely has like had some good seasons with the rangers like if you look at his pitching stats right here back in 2012 he led the league in wins with 20 had a 3.98 era 2013-2014 injury prone you know not pitching so great but he's back uh you know with a 2.73 era which is the best on the team aaron harang also pitching for them uh he was acquired via trade didn't find it particularly noteworthy at the time but he has an era below three at the moment so that's the texas rangers and you can't forget brian mccann who they traded for the trade deadline last year they have brian mccann that's definitely a very key piece for them and just even though you know they haven't really had like superstar type performances in this lineup it's just very deep there's a lot of power you know they have chris davis he's come the prodigal son has returned i suppose he's now a texas ranger again you know they have profar and kinsler down there towards the bottom of the lineup those guys aren't terrible by any means so that's the texas rangers for you currently holding the best record in the american league here are your current stat leaders we can get more in depth on this once we actually reach the all-star break but charlie blackman leads average anthony rizzo leads slugging and on base percentage in obp so he's just had a monster start to this season he's also tied for the lead in home runs with steven souza and prince fielder they all have 16 apiece rizzo leads war he has 3.2 lineup to shields leads stolen bases he has 18. moving on to the pitching leaders here on may 31st 2015 dan herron of boston with a 1.24 era felix fernandez leads war crusade leads innings pitched chrysale also leads strikeouts and erico flaherty leads save so those are your leaders for the first two months of the season but we'll check back in on that and get a little more in depth once we actually reach the all-star break we're here at the all-star break quick injury update it's just it's zach cranky you know he came into this year um he had a injury in spring training that he suffered there was an elbow strain that has shut him down for a couple months he comes back he starts four games and now he has a torn labrum in his shoulder this was an injury suffered on looks like june 1st 2015 three month injury so he might be back for like september but this has not been a good season for zach crank he really unfortunate injured in spring training and then also injured you know as he's trying to come back uh and get his season on the road but he's the only main injury so far kershaw obviously missing the full year which is really unfortunate but we covered that already let's take a look at the standings at the moment because there has been some serious movement the oakland athletics have just caught on fire i mean we were talking about the rangers having the best record in the american league now they're five and a half games back of those oakland athletics meanwhile mets they fell off and their cringe and why b is better or should i say a b is better the atlanta braves with a slight lead over the mets in the nl east it's still anyone's game there brewers lead in the central now uh giants leading the west we can check in on some of these teams at the moment so let's take a look at the athletics best record in baseball at the moment you know how are they doing it it's definitely pitching i mean their their offense has been really good they have a lot of power in this lineup they could have a lot of guys hit 20 even 30 home runs this season but look at this pitching jared parker their young ace he's having a good season good for him uh aj griffin tommy hanson who they just traded for dan straley tanner peters don't know much about tanner peters but he's a 2.54 era currently in the rotation for them so it's just been a really good team brian morris we've seen have some pretty dominant seasons he was the 2014 american league reliever of the year honestly has a chance to repeat it at the moment so keep an eye on brian morris who's just been lights out as a closer for those oakland athletics but yeah i mean look at this lineup look at all these home runs they've been hitting michael saunders cespedes josh donaldson josh reddick chris carter jet jerko delman young there's a lot of home runs in this lineup so a lot of home runs good pitching that's the story of your oakland athletics royals lead the central let's check out the royals andrew been intended right now this is his uh rookier he was drafted uh last winter in that um you know first year player draft seventh overall he's already hit the ground running i mean he's on pace for like a five war season and so he's gonna you know be rookie of the year candidate for sure if he can keep this up so that's been intended they also have some other like fun young players salvador perez looks like he's having you know just a pretty well pretty average season but you know he's a pretty consistent guy hosmer uh this is age 25 season he's been he's been ultra consistent in this save she's kind of the same guy every year a good player um so that's a look at your lineup for the royals you know the the starting rotation it's not the best it's interesting that they have uh will smith as a starter that's an interesting choice he's not a reliever in this safe currently he is a starter your donald ventura rests in peace he um actually in 2014 even though he won that great in the minors he had a small stint in the majors that was pretty good he's still just 24 in this safe so he'll be one to keep an eye on for sure kelvin herrera you know has a 3.59 era so far it's looking like uh not quite as good as 2013 2014 but you know his babies really high his fip is still really good so he's just kind of gotten a little bit unlucky but let's look at the royals they're kind of they're kind of rag-tag bunch those royals but they do lead the american league central ray's lead the east they've done really well just in general in this save longoria man longoria is not having a great season for the tampa bay rays i mean this guy was the mvp in 2013. he puts together a pretty solid 2014 but what's going on with evan longoria that's been kind of interesting here's zobrist at the moment he's just been you know he's been zobrist he's just he just does ben zobrist stuff i love ben zobrist jason worth right now through 67 games is batting 378 goodness gracious jason worth 378 445 531 on the triple slash 169 ops plus jason worth going absolutely huge for these guys matt wieders you know he's a great defensive catcher he's been a little bit slow with the bat uh this is his first year with them also starlin castro who they acquired so they really had a pretty busy off season with star and castro doing really solid for them and you look at that rotation alex cobb matt moore jeremy helix and chris archerweight davis it's a pretty solid rotation they're third in starters era in the american league so that's a look at your tampa bay rays here's the braves we talked about the mets already but here's the braves they have naked men jason hayward how's he doing yeah i mean still still could be an mvp candidate if he gets hot freddy freeman ryan zimmerman don't know much about tyler colvin did he play for like the rocky oh yeah i did play for the rockies um yeah tyler colvin he's their left fielder apparently terdasavlich or turdas levitch is hurt they also have um curtis granderson anderson simmons batting eighth for them but yeah good pitching medlin tehran minor alex wood rookie kuroda still in the league at the age of 40. that's that's awesome to see and then just man kimbrough goodness gracious camera i mean come on ken what do you do against this guy i mean he's unbelievable so kimball on his way potentially to a reliever of the year uh at least at the all-star break milwaukee brewers they lead the central man these guys have been beat up grenkey's been hurt pedroia has been hurt and yet they still just keep it going cliff lee uh is uh on their team homer bailey jason hamill mike fires jake peavy who they traded for you know it's not great but they have they have like depth they have guys that can eat up some innings and you know you look at their uh team right now their lineup it's got a lot of potential even though their 10th in runs scored the national league it's got a lot of potential chris davis like he could catch fire he's up to a 128 ops plus on the year could have a huge bounce back season after last year man iran's ramirez like what's his deal this guy's just like this guy's just good he's just really good in the safe i mean he's a really good player in real life always underrated but he just keeps it going into old age in this safe i mean this is 2015 and he's still a key contributor jonathan lucroy um has only played 35 games this year he continues to play well um but yeah that's jonathan lucroy for you he's been one of the better catchers in this save so far that's just a look at your you know central leading milwaukee brewers and let's take a look at the giants who have the best record in the national league here they are in 2015 bumgarner kane vogelson chris heston brad hand a starter for them that's kind of an interesting site to see looks like he's been uh moved over to the rotation after he was claimed on waivers from philadelphia in april so that's interesting bullpen is not good bullpen is not good that's a clear weakness for the uh for the giants maybe if they add a starter hand can go to the bullpen and help them out there but um you know their their third and run score in the national league playing in a pretty pitcher-friendly ballpark joe panic has been really really good for them lately i noticed he had a 401 on base percentage last year um he's kind of following that up with a really similar season offensively on pace for six war because he was such a good defender as well buster posey he continues to do buster posey things could be an mvp candidate at the end of the year milky cabrera i mean goodness gracious he just hits every year milky cabrera just hits every year leicester uh brandon belt he's doing really well his on-base percentage is over 400. sandoval here's sandoval he's been pretty consistent throughout this save they have adam jones on a long term deal he's under contract uh he hasn't opt out until uh like 2019 uh brandon crawford's there too so this could be a really fun team to cheer on but yeah that's just a look at some of your division leaders at the moment let's also look at some of the statistical leaders around the league here are your league leaders at the all-star break haley ramirez batting 390 in his first year for the philadelphia phillies 390 434 on base 6 28 slugging on pace for an eight war season playing third base for the philadelphia phillies they signed him to a pretty big contract this offseason so i'm sure phillies fans are very pleased about that steven souza man steven souza had such a great season in 2014 he may have a better season in 2015 his ops is right around a thousand i mean he has 33 home runs right now like is he gonna hit 50 it seems like he might hit 50. rizzo has been absolutely immense he leads on base percentage he leads slugging he leads ops he leads war this is anthony rizzo's world we're all just living in it this year um also uh top players in war steven souza jason hayward tulo hanley ramirez bryce harper they've all been doing really well there we can take a look at the pitching leaders as well chris medlin leads era he has a 1.75 era on pace to throw 236 innings as well so he's got you know the efficiency the run prevention but he's also you know just a lot of volume getting a lot of outs way to go chris medlin currently a cy young candidate for sure with the season going like this david price has not missed a beat he won the cy young award in 2014 he moves to the cubs he looks phenomenal for them so far that's david price um felix hernandez i mean just goodness gracious i mean good i mean come on i mean it's just a joke how good he is it's every year with this guy every year with this guy unbelievable jeremy hefner i mean you know we've said jerry jeremy hefner's name a lot recently and he's just he's he's a pitcher man that jeremy hefner he just gets in there and he just shoves jerry heffner unbelievable love that love that for the mets matt garza that's cool to see matt garza doing very well with the miami marlins this year oh but looks like he was traded to the texas rangers what did that trade entail um texas received matt garza so texas has been really aggressive training for big league talent they've been training prospects to do it miami receives arturo rodriguez which okay i get that but like also you have jt ralmuto you know uh dj peterson and jonathan zeidzik did my best there but yeah rangers um they're they're just a buying club they're very aggressive in terms of war it's medlin king felix hyunjin ryu cole hamel stephen strasberg chris sale you darvish lead strikeouts but also sale bauer de graham that's there's some degrom siding strasbourg felix hernandez doing very well on that front um saves currently led by erico flaherty eric flaherty has a 3.24 era but man brian morris brian morris 1.25 era i mean is he going to go back to back he's going to go back-to-back reliever of the year i don't know too much about brian moore's but man in this save i'll tell you what absolute monster let's check out those all-star game rosters so here are your all-star game rosters for the 2015 season cleveland is represented by a fellow by the name of miguel gonzalez not entirely sure why his era is 4.62 but congrats to him he is an all-star dan herron and felix hernandez received the most votes of starting pitchers they both have this asterisk next to them but i'm going to guess king felix is going to start the game josh johnson he's been great matt moore cece sabathia chris sale james shields i want to talk about matt moore a little bit because you know this guy at one point was ranked on prospect list by some publications ahead of players like harper and trout and i would say in this say for the most part he has lived up to the hype this is his third all-star game appearance uh in the four years we have simulated she sees bathya man mr consistency just keeps going chris sales having a really really really good year for those white sucks looking at the relievers you know kelvin herrera makes another all-star game even though this hasn't been his best year you know his reputation at this point kind of precedes him i mean he's been such a great player brian morris we know about him the beast brian morris looks like mccann is going to get the start at catcher miguel montero is there and this is our first gary sanchez sighting that's definitely going to be an interesting career to watch he's hitting a lot of home runs not mr on base percentage 35 catcher ability with a 65 arm um it's gonna be fun to watch gary sanchez for sure i think they've got him pretty nailed here you know who's having two huge like bounce back seasons among veterans one of them is miguel cabrera who has a 150 ops plus at the all-star break he uh makes the all-star game this year but then the biggest surprise to me is albert pujols albert pujol says age 35 season looked like he was just kind of doing the decline once he reached uh la and now he's having you know the best year of his career in an angel's uniform uh the machine albert pool hole is batting 321 935 ops 153 ops plus at the all-star break he is an all-star once again it's awesome to see really happy to see that mookie betts makes his first all-star game and this is really around the time when he was starting to um you know ascend into stardom in real life that 2015 season so mookie bets he's also on pace to hit 15 home runs we've talked about the pop we've talked about the power we need to see it but mookie betts is an all-star for the boston red sox once again playing second base which i have no problem with because that's i mean that's what he you know played in the minors josh donaldson is josh donaldson every year he's good he's playing that defense adam duvall is an all-star third baseman for the white sox um just an interesting sense to say out loud but i mean he's he's slugging 580 so good for adam duvall joe kong brett law brett lowry who's uh uh brett laurie who is um been uh just i mean the ratings were crazy his ratings goodness gracious the game is just loving brett laurie at the moment a lot of third baseman here again i guess some of them might be playing other positions in this game starling castro gets the started shortstop recently acquired by the race is his first season eric thames bj upton makes an all-star game but antenny's an all-star in his rookie year good for ben and tendy jason wirth we talked about him monster year bank 372 and of course there's trout trout's always there national league you have marco gonzalez i think this is his first all-star game yes it was he had a pretty good um 2014 season hefner beast carlos martinez first caller's martinez siding he's an all-star representative for the cardinals medlin scion candidate price also going to be a saiyan candidate i imagine anybody sanchez stephen strasberg this guy david hurlbutt k k-rod k-rod all-star uh appearance this is the first we've seen of k-rod his first all-star game since 2009 he's currently los angeles dodger he's really pitched well throughout the simulation i must say he just hasn't made an all-star game but um yeah with the dodgers currently 1.75 era that's k-rod i loved k-rod man back in the day steve c check marco estrada kimbrell you know looks like he might win reliever of the year i mean we're only halfway through the season grandahl molina posey um no lou roy this year but i mean the catching is just absolutely stacked in the national league look at the seasons these guys are having unbelievable matt adams makes an all-star game he's slugging 610 goodness gracious matt adams that's a lot of that's a lot of slugging matt adams not a lot of walking i must say matt adams has uh four walks and 367 plate appearances he's just like i i hit home runs you know i don't really know much about walking but i'll just i'm just gonna hit the ball brandon belt rizzo mvp can't edit for sure baez doing well he bounces back from a season where you know he missed the full season basically panic anthony rendon he's established himself he's a star now ramirez is obviously going nuts souza going nuts he has money tomas wow yes may tomas kind of just shows up after being selected 25th overall in that first year player draft in 2014. he makes an all-star game he has four war already at the break good for yasmani tomas and good pick by the cincinnati reds reyes tulo having a great year he'll probably be an mvp candidate again chris davis cargo bryce harper matt holiday hayward you know mvp can't candidate hopefully uh charlie blackman mark cakes and then john carlo john carl it's a little bit of a step back from you know just how insane he's been 2012 2013 2014 his 2015. he's been a little bit slower to get going but he's still a beast so that's your all-star game rosters for this year and uh yeah i'll see you guys at the trade deadline we'll see if there's been any trades going down mid-season a few interesting trades in the last month or so we talked about the giants they were doing well but their bullpen wasn't strong they went ahead and wrangled up a trade for jeremy affelt they traded uh for him he was pitching for the yankees now he's pitching for the giants and he's done pretty well coming out the pen for them in his first nine games that's not a huge trade but i just felt like it was worth mentioning because we were talking about you know the um the giants and how you know bullpen was not a strength for them this one what caught my eye it was pretty interesting homer bailey is going to the milwaukee brewers he was traded on july 8th in return for 20 year old nabeel chris met and 22 year old taiwan walker milwaukee's been pretty aggressive with trading for starting pitchers they traded for jake peavy as well they're just trying to get guys that can kind of eat innings and be above average for them cliff lee it hasn't been the best of years for him um in 2014 he was doing pretty good but he only started 13 games so he's had kind of an an odyssey in this uh re-simulation i should i should say um and then one more trade you know let's just talk about the brewers again because they've just been really aggressive they trade for uh center fielder alejandro de aza in this um they send away uh minor league centerfielder ian miller and also uh austin slater to the white sox in return de aza not super interesting this year looks like he's like a average to slightly above average player this year but i mean in 2012 you know we talked about him uh at the time he just had like a monster year five and a half war 126 ops plus and so the brewers do get themselves uh someone who's capable of playing center field he's gonna bat eighth for them and you know they're five games ahead of the cardinals staying aggressive i like it for the brewers they're just you know they're adding players they've had injuries to cranky and pedroia maybe granky comes back for a playoff push we'll see maybe he'll maybe he'll pitch in october if uh you know things continue to go well for the milwaukee brewers as far as the standings go not a lot of movement you know it's the same sort of leaders we saw at the all-star break it's really only like 10 games have been played since the all-star break by each team so we're going to do now is just simulate until the last day of the season and see what's going on around the league the 2015 regular season is over the braves are your national league east champions they win that pretty easily by winning a hundred games they go 162 they had really good pitching from chris medlin who it seems like is going to be a scion candidate this year may very well win the award i mean he led the national league in wins he led era best whip best war chris medlen you know he made his second all-star game this year but this may be the year he wins the cy young julio tehran also pretty good for them uh the lineup's been really interesting hayward throws down another seven to eight war season because he's just a machine for that these days i mean goodness gracious this guy jason hayward also stays healthy the full year which helps freddy freeman um he's been really consistent we haven't talked about him too much but he's become just like kind of a uh you know perennial all-star you know silver slugger candidate good player just hasn't had like an insane season i mean his closest thing to insane season is probably still 2012. um ryan zimmerman he's like a braves legend at this point it's kind of weird to say but he's just been really good in atlanta braves uniform ever since he signed with them joey tradosovich 391 on base percentage this year we'd love an on base percentage king and then craig kimbrell i mean this may be another uh this may be a reliever of the year for him uh he won that in 2013. uh he was rookie the year in 2011 as well yeah just a b season for him 118 strikeouts in 65 innings that's your atlanta braves so the cardinals win the central the brewers were really the talk of the town at the trade deadline they just completely fell apart 12 and 15 in august 10 and 18 in september one and three in october the uh it's like st louis cardinals who come out on top in a rather weak division um they had a good like sort of consistent team as far as like the pitching goes like wainwright uh had a solid year he's just been kind of solid throughout the save lance lynn colby lewis they also have this guy silfredo garcia uh who got rookie of the year votes last year he comes back and and follows up uh very nicely with a 3.69 era across 200 innings that's the cardinals uh matt matt adams is about to say that holiday matt adams 40 homers and 17 walks for those of you keeping track at home matt holliday unbelievable unbelievable how good matt holliday is in this safe i mean he's this was his age 35 season he's just an absolute machine he just continues to hit he's now over 2 000 career hits he's nearing 300 career home runs if he keeps this up if he keeps continuing to age well matt holiday could very well turn himself into a hall of famer in this re-simulation because he i mean look 170 ops plus a year ago 161 this year six war seasons playing left field for those cardinals pretty unbelievable molina another really good year he's been really consistent um they also have aaron judge aaron judge this was his uh first year in the majors slightly above league average as a hitter yet 13 home runs and 314 at bats um he'll be one to keep an eye on for sure this was he's only 23. but yeah they have aaron judge who they got in that first year player draft giants won the west 102 wins i'm starting to think this is maybe the uh the favorite for the world series they've just had really good pitching all year they have the best starters era in the national league they also scored their third most runs buster posey just continues to be just an absolute machine melky cabrera absolute machine puts together like the same season every year they have adam jones who uh they signed to a pretty long contract he has an opt-out in 2019 that's a long way from now but he's been playing right field for them brandon belt had a 367 on base percentage for them this year he's been very it was a very brandon belt type of year i'll put it that way he's been very brandon belty joe panic has been really really good these last couple years in this save he had a 401 on base percentage uh in 2014 he's playing great defensive second base you know nearly a six war season this year so that's your giants rockies they did not score a thousand runs but they did lead the league and run scored such a crazy lineup ryu was really just like their entire rotation like he's the stud he's their ace he's just gonna keep them competitive in the playoffs if they can win games where he pitches but man this lineup everyone hit like 20 home runs in this lineup and it's crazy when you see like how good of a season like cargo had how good trevor story is how good blackman is how good you know tulo is they have jose abreu too like these guys are so good this lineup is so good and it's crazy just to think that nolan arnado is the guy in this lineup who actually doesn't hit that well like he he's putting up war because you know he's got uh great defensive metrics great defensive ratings he was a 3.3 war guy this year despite the fact his ops plus was 83 goodness gracious but yeah nolan arnotto in this uh re-simulation he is not a great hitter but he is still not knowing our auto on defense and that's what's keeping him valuable so yeah that's those colorado rockies uh arizona diamondbacks they're the defending champs they didn't quite have the pitching this year that they had um last year don't get me wrong they still had some good pitching performances but yeah like uh samarja bauer cahill miley niece it wasn't quite as good as it used to be tyler skaggs was actually their closer through a lot of this season i know he only had six days but at the end of the season i noticed he was in fact closing for them 78 innings pitched 2.52 era 161 eri plus and honestly he has the ratings to be able to uh pitch out of the rotation if the diamondbacks choose to do that in the long term with him aos that's run that's won by the rangers um you know joey gal is a guy like i feel like if you simulated the next 20 years he might hit like 600 home runs because he got such an early start and he's hitting so many home runs every year chris davis hit 40 home runs the prodigal son returns and hits 40 home runs for the texas rangers uh their pitching's been really good this year darvish guards at holland this is probably the strongest pitching we've seen from the rangers in this simulation oakland athletics they're good they win 95 games so they'll have to face the angels in that wild card game excited to see the angels make the playoffs you know they made moves when they got andrews mustaches was obviously a huge ad for them uh they gave up uh quite a bit to get mustaches but i think it you know i mean they made the playoffs because of him i think it was worth it jonathan walsh pretty big prospect uh for kc but he is 24 also trevin hildenberger but oh no he tore his ucl that's a real shame because he looked like he was on his way to being like a top reliever clevenger andy otero also part of that trade so that was a really big trade um but it's good to see you know the angels make a win now sort of move trout could be mvp again um and then pujols uh best season in angels uniform definitely royals win the central they actually went to a game 163 here with the tigers but the royals won uh you know really good bullpen i think is maybe the highlight for the royals like kelvin herrera this wasn't his best year um but he is just a really good reliever in general but like jim johnson had a really good year he had a 2.1 for era darren oliver who by the way is 45 years old today he's the oldest player in the league at the moment um you know he's i saw he signed a minor league deal with chicago um he was pitching well for chicago and then he ended up with kc i mean look at darren oliver go 45 years old and he may pitch again next year he has no stuff he's not going to strike anyone out but he doesn't walk guys and he doesn't allow home runs it's he's a little bit richard bleiry i must say um andrew bentendi was absolutely huge for this team i mean he's definitely the mvp of the royals and probably going to win rookie of the year if i had to guess i mean he had five war 899 ops playing center field of all positions for the royals i mean come on now absolute beast and then the rays win the al east they've just been really good throughout this save matt moore jeremy helix and alex cobb jacob mcgee's been really good throughout this safe he's been a really good closer for them um chris archer tyler eppler were also part of the rotation even though i will say this right now just based on how the game works like this is the end of the season so it's like you know basically the game was like hey archer and eppler aren't gonna pitch again in this regular season so we'll take them out but they do have a like legit five-man rotation as do the rest of the teams that have been shown uh jason worth monster year uh 145 ops plus 4.9 more this was his age 36 season huge year for him uh starring castro was definitely a big ad as well because this is not a huge run scoring team they scored 665 runs but it's all about um their pitching they had the least runs allowed in the american league so that's a look at sort of your uh standings that's what the playoff picture looks like and let's see who are the league leaders in all the stats individually this year okay so here are your league leaders for the 2015 regular season haley ramirez hit 367 this year goodness gracious hanley ramirez in his first year for the philadelphia phillies hits 367 ops over a thousand um looks like he was playing some second base and some third base let's get confirmation on that 35 games at shortstop 101 games at third base and just six games at second base so he's been moving around the infield for them doesn't quite have a cemented position i would say um carlos gonzalez cargo uh second abreu third that's a lot of colorado jason wirth jose reyes wow i'm surprised by that jose reyes comes out and hits 332 for the marlins this year 4.7 more season a real bounce back for him i i feel like we hadn't said his name much during this simulation but there's jose reyes and steven souza the man i got to tell you guys about steven souza it's unbelievable like he's playing third base i we pointed out his ratings and how good he was in 2014 he has an even better year in 2015. he hits 52 home runs i told you he might hit 50. i think he had like 33 at the break lead slugging leads ops leads war that may be your uh mvp steven souza playing third base for the washington nationals it's crazy rizzo also had a good year he was leading in a lot of these categories before um souza heated up but rizzo did lead on base percentage with a 423 he has an eight war season could still be in contention for that uh mvp as well trout led the american league in war bryce harper had an eight war season haley ramirez 7.9 jason hayward 7.7 uh i think trout might have that uh that al nvp he could go back to back cargo led hits with 223. d gordon led stolen bases with 51 david dahl was second with 49. yeah your ops leaders souza rizzo harper cargo hanley jose abreu those are all names we've said already matt adams led runs batted in what a crazy just sort of stat line this is 321 average 335 on base percentage but 586 slugging pitching leaders right now it's chris medlen with that era crown a 1.90 era may be considered the front runner for that uh nl cyong at this point and then guys in the ameri in the american league would you believe it would you believe it it's felix hernandez again he's he's best best era in the american league best whip most war 9.0 war that's his highest so far he may be on his way to a fourth saiyan for cy young awards i mean that's like that's like all-time great territory felix hernandez you absolute gem um he actually has an opt-out this off-season i'm curious to see if he'll take it he probably should um you know the ranger not the rangers the mariners did give him six years 155 prior to the 2012 season but he may exercise that opt out because he's just been i really do think he's been the best player overall in this simulation through the first i guess this is the fourth year we've done it jeremy hefner 2.05 era 175 innings pitched only started 28 games but i mean man jeremy hefner look at jeremy hefner go i'm sure there's all kinds of mets fans who are like it's a real shame what happened to jeremy hefner in real life he could have been such an amazing pitcher for us and now they're like hey i knew it i knew jeremy hefner had the sauce chris sale great year for him i can't help but notice though her needed a disc that he suffered right at the end of the year i don't think that's going to have too much of a long-term uh effect on his career he leads wins he leads innings pitch he leads strikeouts he's going to be the main competition for king felix it looks like matt garza had a huge year he split time between miami and texas we'll see what matt garza does in the playoffs for texas um he could come up huge there anybody sanchez 2.59 era crumbs of war it's king felix medlin cole hamill's had a really good fit this year 227 innings pitched good year for cole hamill's for sure chris sales stephen strasburg and there's good old josh johnson again josh johnson probably the best season he's put down in this simulation uh 2.85 era 224 inks pitched for detroit 157 era plus that's a really fun player uh let's see here saves marco estrada not sure if i said marco estrada's name he was an all-star um but he's clo he was closer for the diamondbacks this year 61 innings pitched also a little bit of tyler skaggs there i think um but a 4.55 era so and i'm not really that interested in marco estrada of course we're all about brian morris um but his era 2.33 it's not a guarantee that he'll repeat that uh reliever of the year again but he is still a pretty dominant guy erica flaherty is up there uh luis perez of the toronto blue jays he saved 39 games he had a 1.71 era maybe he's the guy this year we'll just have to see and then in terms of strikeouts it's darvish it's sale it's to grom it's strasbourg it's bauer it's king felix let's look at the grom real quick he strikes out 256 guys 203 innings pitch 3.19 era and yet in true jacob degrom fashion his record is 10 and 12. but there's jacob de graham this is his first sort of breakout year in the big leagues hopefully he can keep developing because he has a lot of growth to go especially in terms of his movement but jacob agram has now established himself at the very least as one of the better pitchers in the league it's yet to be seen if he'll become the best pitcher in the league but yep those are your league leaders for 2015. now it's time for the playoffs all right it's time for the 2015 playoffs we kick off with a couple wild card games between division rivals it's the angels versus the a's as well as the diamondbacks versus the rockies i can't help but feel like this feels like familiar like we've had like a similar playoff bracket to this at some point might have been like 2013 but yeah i feel like we've definitely seen these types of matchups before let's see who wins those uh wild card games rockies win they advance to a division series versus the san francisco giants meanwhile in the american league it's los angeles angels so they go on to a division series i'm pretty happy with that so it's time for the ds's to kick off it starts off with a quick two-nothing lead for the braves uh over here the giants and the rockies are tied at a game of peace uh and we're also a game of peace here in the american league between the rangers and angels at royals and rays let's go the next day uh cardinals avoid elimination this time um giants win game three over there and then the american league the uh raise win game three and the rangers win game three and then over here everything's squared up in the national league so there's gonna be game fives here and here so here we go um oh wow look at this this is a real treat we have four elimination games going uh rangers and angels like just all these series it's going to be winner take all let's see who comes out on top giants advance braves advance angels advance raise advance so now we're here down to the final four teams sorry texas rangers they they just they just don't quite have it in them i really want them to win a world series but we'll just have to see giants and braves were no doubt the pride of the national league this year chris heston and brad hand by the way are rounding out that uh the back end of that playoff rotation matt kane out or else he would definitely be in there jeremy affelt um you know the closer they acquired at the trade deadline and just a really solid lineup overall i mean guys like panic posey cabrera have been so instrumental for the giants um atlanta braves medlin tehran minor woods so it's all about you know can you win these games with medlin kane when these games with tehran um zimmerman freeman hayward really anchoring that lineup for the braves they won 100 games with the angels jared weaver james shields cj wilson it looks like maybe next game will be started by max russell who won 16 games for the angels um was about league average in terms of era but again this was the guy who kind of came out of nowhere to win relief of the year in 2013 so we're we're a fan of his and then yep there's the tampa bay rays here they are maybe you know they won the world series in i think 2012. i believe i have that right um but maybe they get another world series here matt moore jeremy hellickson alex cobb wade davis really strong rotation it's all about the rotation and um even if longoria has not been great for them you know uh worth and castro have been uh very key additions to that offense let's see they yep they won the world series in 2012. so here we go championship series time uh one game of peace for all teams giants take a 2-1 lead angels take a 2-1 lead meanwhile things are all square here in the national league braves come back they win a couple games in a row to take a 3-2 lead meanwhile it's two games a piece here um so we have a couple three to two series right here angels leading and braves leading braves in six so the braves do advance to the world series they win that pennant over the giants giants uh the championship has eluded them uh in this simulation so far meanwhile it's angels versus rays and it's gonna be a game seven in that alcs who comes out on top to face the braves in the world series it's the angels all right so a couple of a teams here the angels versus the braves in the world series you have the 100 win games as well as the wild card angels so that'll that's a fun match up let's see what happens angels take game one angels take game two oh here we go is mike trout getting a ring this is what the people always wanted they wanted to see mike trout get a ring mike trout in the playoffs let's see what happens braves take game three braves take game four uh oh we're tied up two to two here what happens in game five uh-oh braves braves win three games in a row they're up three to two here let's see what happens so elimination game for the angels oh no the braves pull off the reverse sweep they are the world series champions for 2015. congratulations to the atlanta braves uh my apologies for los angeles angels we really wanted to see mike trout get that ring he had a really great season this year but no dice but at least he had a deep playoff run but yep it's the atlanta braves who are world series champions on the season let's go and check ahead and check out like just how things went for them so yeah i mean the angels won two nothing in nine to seven the first couple games but then braves win a one run game here braves win a one run one run game here they went three to nothing here and then last game is just a blowout ten to two series mvp is freddy freeman ever heard of freddie freeman freddy freeman slashes 476 577 810 a huge series for him also having a really good series was evan gaddis he had a couple home runs let's see how they're pitching did medlin wow medlin 14 innings pitched didn't allow an earned run meanwhile over here with the los angeles angels trout did have a good series trout hit 350 435 600 had a homer so at least trout had a good series gene segura also had a good series max russell did not have a good series um seven innings pitched with a 14 era so my apologies to max russell um but yeah that sure that's your 2015 season your atlanta braves are champions and uh yes now we move on to the off season now we move on to that first year player draft free agency all that stuff coming at you right now let's go ahead and kick off this off season with award season um so far the game scheduled the first year player draft and mvp announcement to be on the same day so i'm just gonna select awards first we're going to do jason wirth winning a batting crown haley ramirez he wins the batting title in the national league so now it's time for gold glove awards faulty wins for a pitcher i think like josh beckett had been winning that every year matt wieters gets another gold glove award in the american league goodness gracious that's his fifth in a row pujols wins a gold glove that's awesome he won uh many early in his career like but in 2015 he grabs himself a gold glove award this was just a fun year from albert pull hole so he was a five war player gordon beckham um i think this is the second in a row yep brendan ryan he's won a ton uh brett laurie man the game i swear bret they turned brett laurie into like manny machado it's ridiculous what brett laurie has become in this game playing for those toronto blue jays who overall the blue jays by the way haven't fared particularly well in this simulation they did finish above 500 this year but yeah he's a stud aaron hicks wins in left field for the minnesota twins that's his first uh for his career mike trout wins in center that's his second gold glove award he won in 2013 as well and jay bruce that's also second in a row in right field with the seattle mariners national league iavaldi wins for the uh as a pitcher for the dodgers hey guys look yada molina won a gold glove award wow it reminds me of all those other years that he won a gold glove award just monster monster good player brandon belt wins one and fonte's been winning a lot of gold gloves recently this is his third in a row at second base not a great hitter uh arenado that's his uh third gold glove in a row even though he's not hitting like crazy in this save jj hardy was a free agent signing in uh in april right as the season was starting he wins a gold glove award although uh i mean he also like mathis's so uh you know pros and cons justin upton wins another gold glove that's his third in a row he's been playing some really good defense john jay gold glove good for him he's won multiple and john carlo that's giancarlo's second goal glove in a row in right field all right um top reliever in the american league we were really interested in brian morris he almost won it um you know he had 12 first place votes but it goes to nate jones of the white sox nate jones with a 1.28 era hard to argue against a 1.28 era he had a fantastic year but morris is a great reliever luis perez uh he led the american league in saves with 39 he had a 1.71 era he got some first place votes and then jake mcgee and brandon gomes brennan gomes also of the tampa bay rays had a good season um moving on here to the national league no surprises craig kimbrell unanimous relief of the year that is the second time he's won the award he had 118 strikeouts in 65 innings 1.23 era it seems like it was always going to be him tyler skaggs though runner-up and a guy who i'd really like to see pitch out of the rotation next year 2.52 era and 78 innings for the diamondbacks williams perez also of the braves um had some games started but i mean a hundred innings pitched good for him sean burnett chas row chas row uh has been a really good reliever for uh colorado he had a 130 era plus this year big hitters these are your platinum stick winners which are really silver slugger winners gary sanchez wins his first silver slugger award he had a great season offensively did a great job at the plate miguel cabrera we talked about his sort of bounce back campaign um after he'd been declining a bit he has a great season 9 30 ops chris taylor he gets himself his uh second silver slugger in a row as a second baseman he has you know uh he came up with the mariners in real life and so he's staying with them in real life or not in real life in the safe um so he's become like that type of player for the mariners rather than that type of player for the dodgers miguel ceno he's so young he's so good in this safe but uh i mean he's playing like good defense at third base which is something that he you know i think never really got to do in real life once he got big and started like slugging and hitting a ton of home runs but um yeah he's just a he's a monster in this save uh in a very young age stalin castro very key for the race this year stalin castro eric thames wins one for the blue jays good fred thames uh trout wins and center jd martinez first time we said jd martinez's name during the save jd martinez for houston wins himself a silver slugger with a very jt martin jd martinezi type of year 140 lps plus in right field um and your designated hitter silver slugger is prince fielder we haven't talked about fielder too much but he actually led the american league in homeruns with 31 in 2014 he was tied for that but that was such a low offensive season this year he does the same with 41 and you know he's he's this was his age 31 season but he's still moving along um looks like he's going to be a free agent this offseason so be interesting to see do the do the tigers resign him does he move on anyways you're platinum stick award winners against slugger any national league jose fernandez wins one we haven't talked much jose fernandez recently and it's sad to say in 2014 and 2015 he didn't really pitch particularly well in either of those seasons looks like he got kind of unlucky with like the fip and the bad ball stuff in 2015 i mean a 362 babit hello and i mean the marlins are supposed to have a pretty good defense they have omar and fonte for goodness sake um his pitching ranges are still really good he's still only 23 so i think he's got it in him to have some really good pitching seasons but he does win a silver slugger posey oh my goodness posey unbelievable really really good rizzo mvp candidate whichever story he wins uh among second baseman he's been mostly playing second base throughout this save because they still have tulo going strong speaking of tulo he actually wins the silver slugger there steven souza i think steven seuss is going to win mvp i really do 9.5 war ops well over a thousand led the league and homers led the league in runs yeah yeah this is i mean steven souza has just turned into something else in this trade uh in this uh save hayward wins in center field he's a monster and blackman wins in right field blackman uh really i mean apart from like 2014 where he was just like kind of he's just been really good throughout this save the rockies have been such an interesting team i can't believe they called them the problem child all right here you go rookie of the year wow i mean it was it was a tie basically i mean it looks like they gave it to ben and tandy for for really no reason other than maybe like alphabetical order um but yeah andrew bin and tindy but they each had 120 points jungle kong with the um um cleveland spiders had a really good year he was selected fifth overall coming over from uh korea and then ben and tindy selected seventh um yeah i would have i would have given it to ben attendee personally no no disrespect rymel tapia also of the cleveland spiders hello rymeltapia uh he has a pretty good year uh brandon lee brandt a pitcher uh for the blue jays blue jays need all the help they could get tyler eppler um who uh split some time between rotation and uh the bullpen for the race anyways your rookie of the year in the national league is going to be alex bregman with 18 first place votes this is good because you know the padres had that number one overall pick they picked bregman he's looking like a beast and here's the thing about the padres they were still really bad so they're gonna get another first overall pick in this upcoming um first year player draft so if they can just keep adding players like alex bregman i'm sure their fortunes will have to turn around you know he has money tomas he was an all-star this year he he finished his run up 11 first place votes for him real muto he finally got it going in the majors a five war season for him i'm surprised he didn't get at least one first place vote because boy was he good tell you what those those nationally catchers are just so stacked at the moment with molina and rael muto and lou croy and posey and then nelson perez gets a first place vote for the cubs um don't know too much about nelson perez but he had a really good season hit 30 home runs uh in his rookie campaign with the chicago cubs playing right field for them joe madden is your manager of the year of the american league i feel like that was english i just said um national league manager of the year is freddie gonzalez they're also the world series champions hey look hey look felix hernandez won another cy young award guys look look at felix where that is four sai young awards 2010 2012 2013 2015 it's just it's a joke at this point how good he is i mean this might have been his best season yet 2.02 era 235 innings pitch just absolute workhorse oh my goodness in the last uh three seasons he's allowed four five and six home runs and look at all the innings he's pitched it's it's just they can't hit this guy at all uh yeah nine war season well deserved chris sale honestly had a great year he would have won it a lot of years uh but just not this year chriselle led in innings pitched he let in strikeouts he led in wins but did not win the cy young award but he's a great pitcher as well josh johnson continues to pitch well in this save you know he's one of those guys that's really fun to just sort of resem and he could end up with a much better career if he can stay healthy which he has done you darvish a really good season for you darvish he strikes out 284 guys and james shields big game james uh 2.75 era and then the national league cy young voting it's chris medlen unanimous wow chris medlen grabs himself a cy young award 2015. he was an all-star this year as well that was his first all-star game since 2012. 20 wins 1.90 era that was the best in the majors 8.3 war best of the national league incredible cole hamill's gets second place he had a lot of war he was a big fip guy this year david price with the cubs he had a great season in his first year in chicago his contract uh will go on until 2018 that he hasn't opt out uh and then if he doesn't opt out it'll go on until 2021 potentially david price yep matt kane matt kane had a really good season for the san francisco giants bumgarner there as well he was the cy young award winner in 2014 still a really good season for him in 2015 matt latos has been really good throughout this save uh he had that one 2013 where he was hurt but in 2012 he was really good 2014 he was good 2015. he was really good chris heston's there jeremy hefner is there i mean it's just crazy like this guy in real life this guy's the mets pitching coach and now he's just turned into an absolute monster uh in this simulation 2.05 era i think that was like second best in the league or something like that john neese diamondbacks legend he puts together a pretty good season any ball sanchez he gets a vote all right time for the mvps in the american league it's mike trout he gets 26 first place votes king felix gets four yep mike trout led war this year um in the american league at least among position players actually felix fernandez had nine uh so he did beat trout there eric thames actually finishing second in mvp voting wow that really that really shows you um you know this was definitely trout's year let's just put it that way uh no offense derek's things he had a great year 157 ops plus 6.5 war but yeah miguel sano finishes third he's great uh felix fourth prince fielder fifth joey gallo 36 home runs for him joey gallo right now he's just turned 22 and he has 133 career home runs so that's pretty crazy miguel cabrera good bounce back for him starring castro pujols we talked about him mustaches brett laurie's just crazy uh andrew bintini talked about him josh donaldson i don't think there's a more consistent player going right now i mean it's literally just the same season every year and you know what it's great he's great he's a great defender he can hit he's awesome uh josh johnson's there cespedes has a good year so sesame has been uh pretty solid overall throughout this save he's been a good like power hitter he's like 498 this year for a warp season this was probably the best season he's put together in this save uh and there you go and then national league it's gonna be souza with 27 first place votes guys unbelievable also he stole 24 bases i'm just now noticing that uh steven souza absolute freak of nature it's like because rendon's been really good too like i should hammer that in like rind's been good he's been playing second base for them so it's like the infield is just crazy on these guys of course harper's been good too you'd expect the nationals to be able to do better they scored the second most runs in the national league um you know they have strasbourg joe gonzalez has generally been good throughout this save although era wasn't great this year yeah keep an eye on on the nationals um this wasn't their year but they have good players on their roster rizzo had a great year harper had a great year it's good to see harper have a good year because um i was getting a little worried he had a little bit of a drop off there in 2014 had some injuries but this year very very good ops over a thousand eight war season for bryce harper he's a five-star man he's a five-star player hanley of course amazing year matt holliday amazing posey hayward i'm just trying to see if there's any names i haven't really talked about too much here let's talk about yasmani grand all getting some down ballot uh mvp votes he has a six horse season for the padres tell you what the padres they need all the help they can get they have grand doll they have bregman they need to keep adding talent and they have a chance to do that in this upcoming first year player draft ryan zimmerman for the braves he's just been really good for them i mean the career he's putting together in this save is really really impressive he's just turned 31 a couple months ago um he's at 1600 nearly 1700 hits 44 war it'd be interesting to see what happens with him because you know he's just retired in real life but yep those are uh your awards souza wins in lmvp trout wins uh ale mvp by the way i should have mentioned that's trout second in row um medlin cy young award winner and king felix wins his fourth cy young award goodness gracious let's move on to that first year player draft moving in here to the first year player draft the first pick will go to the san diego padres who we've been talking about they used that pick to get alex bregman last year and the last pick will go to the san francisco giants who had the best record in mlb this year the houston astros have two picks they pick third and eighth because they failed to sign ronald acuna jr last year when they drafted him second overall and acuna will be available in this year's draft pull as well and likely will sign this time around so as far as the draft pool goes just huge names huge names when you look at the batters you can get fernando tatis jr i think has a very good chance to go uh first overall acuna is there he returns brian reynolds here's juan soto and here's the thing you look at some of these ratings it's like yeah this looks like a really really good player but i don't know if juan soto is going to turn into the juan soto we know and love he does have a high work ethic though which could allow him to over perform his projected potential pete alonso's in this one too um there's also jordan alvarez i mean it's just stacked with the names beau bashette is here vlady jr is here it's a pretty crazy crew we don't know for sure if they will turn out to be as good as they are in real life but yeah i mean even jazz chisholm is here let's look at some of the starting pitchers as well shane bieber is available i mean that is absolutely massive if you could get shane bieber at age 20 into your rotation right away walker bueller's here trevor richards is here and he's rated with a three and a half star potential he could be a really good pitcher savalay uh joey lucasy kenta miata corbin burns is here granted i will say this is last year's edition of or i shouldn't say last year's edition but like this game came out before the 2021 season is played so this game doesn't know that corbin burns is like a cy young winner even though he was still really good in 2020. zach gallon dakota hudson eric lauer yeah this is a this is a really strong draft class i think probably stronger than last year's overall so i think we should get this show on the road let's see who the padres pick with the first pick overall in the 2015 first year player draft so once again i have accidentally simulated the whole draft when i wanted to go sort of pick by pick for the first few this is the fifth round andres jimenez is here chris betts is here oh way to go chris beth's picked um but yeah we're just going to scroll up to build up the anticipation the ray's picked uh o'neil cruz who i think some have said is pronounced more like any cruise or something like that uh jess chisholm is going to join the detroit tigers if they can sign him cabere's boston red sox this is the moving up here to the third round now we see austin hayes we see brian hayes joining the royals he was not signed by the team that drafted him last year can't remember who that was might have been the raise second round here um we can see cole irvine picked by the pirates tony gonzalon went to the twins gavin lux went to the yankees sean murphy went to the tigers but it's all about this first round and i'm very excited to announce we have some appropriate players on appropriate teams because the first pick san diego padres they picked fernando tatis jr so that that makes sense he's going to join the padres and he's got a chance to turn around their fortunes the same way he did in real life at least in 2020 when they became a playoff team and not only that shane bieber is going to be a cleveland spider so first two guys off the board best pitcher best hitter in the class they go to their uh appropriate teams i would say so juan soto goes to the astros the astros still have to sign juan soto you know he could end up like acuna and not signing brian reynolds goes to the dodgers and acuna is gonna be a member of the boston red sox i think that's pretty much confirmed it seems like he's gonna sign brian reynolds um going to the dodgers that's what his ratings look like he looks like he could be a really good player um let's see here pete alonso goes to the marlins walker bueller goes to the pirates i don't know too much about garrett whitley i must say but he's 18. he looks like he could be a good on base percentage guy good defensive center fielder here's the rest of your first round you know mayors get myada um you know kevin bishop goes the white sox drawn alvarez is going to go to the orioles bobachet to the blue jays wow okay that's another one that actually matches up with real life will smith the catcher goes to the cardinals vladimir guerrero junior goes to the rangers although with guerrero you know it looks like he can hit but yeah it might not turn out to be the guerrero that we all know and love the breakout guy from 2021 um you know who was a previously like a number one overall prospect but yep there's your first year player draft no doubt headlined by like that top six or seven or so tatis padres bieber spiders soto astros reynolds dodgers acuna red sox bueller pirates pete alonso to the marlins 75 home run power potential for pete alonso so definitely look like a guy who could lead the league in home runs relatively soon even free agents have filed it is november 30th 2015. this is a class headlined by madison bumgarner who is 26 years old at the moment and that's looks like it's gonna maybe land him the biggest contract ahead of felix hernandez just because he's a few years younger but matt bum's been really good he was your cy young winner in 2014 and he looks like he may be leaving the giants so it'll be really interesting to see who he ends up with and it seems like he could get a lot of money of course felix is sort of like the 1a or the 1b here he could end up with like a higher aav i think but his age you know he's just a few years older but felix has honestly been straight up in my opinion i think he's been the best player in this safe so far he's just unbelievable he's won uh three cy young awards and he also had that one from 2010 before the simulation started so this is a guy with four cy young awards he's not even 30 yet i mean just he's he's pretty much entered into all-time great pitcher territory and it's been really fun to watch matt holliday still going strong he'll turn 36 this offseason but you know ages but a number to him like 170 ops plus last or in 2014 161 he's just he hits man he just continues to hit um potentially leaving the cardinals that's matt holiday the number one hitter in this class starling castro is very young he's only 25 but he's hit free agency the race traded for him in his uh final year of his contract he played really well for them in a contract year now he's a free agent i'm curious to see maybe the race will think about bringing him back although it's going to cost them quite a lot of money miguel cabrera is a free agent boston and detroit are interested those would be an interesting fit obviously if you went to boston it'd be interesting to see what they do with like you know is ortiz going to stick around is ortiz going to play next year um but yeah uh miguel cabrera had a really nice season last year 147 ops plus 930 ops good hitter i mean uh still you know pretty close to the top of his game although you know he won the mvp in 2012 that was the first year of the simulation and he hasn't put up a season quite that good since but great player prince field are also hitting free agency so that's kind of a double whammy there for detroit prince fielder led league in home runs and runs bad in last year i should say the american league that is he continues to play really well he's 31 years old he has 355 career home runs so that i think the chase for like 500 is on for prince fielder i believe in real life he hit 319 home runs before he had to retire um so it's good to see him still going stro uh strong robinson canoe had a good sort of bounce back here with the red sox after a really bad 2014. he led the american league in doubles he had a 122 ops plus in a four war season he becomes a free agent at the age of 33 uh once again pool holst is a free agent looks like he could get maybe like a one-year deal at a high av or maybe like a lower like uh for like a two or three year deal but he had a really big year with the angels no clue no clue what team would is gonna he's gonna end up with maybe the dodgers you know maybe he could end up with the dodgers as he's ended up in real life final free agent i want to talk about cliff lee he's 37 but he had a really nice sort of bounce back here with the milwaukee brewers he threw 223 innings he had close to six war 3.55 era and he'd had some you know 2014. he had a really good year for them but he got hurt um or no he didn't get hurt it looks like okay my goodness i misspoke when i said that the first time so he was traded from the phillies to the brewers i might have hit on that when it happened and um yeah so cliff lee age 37 here's his uh career pitching stats uh up to 57 career f4 120 career era plus um hopefully we can still keep it going because cliff lee was honestly one of my absolute favorite pitchers back in the day but those are your top free agents for this winter and yeah already there's some interest with philly minnesota and boston on bumgarner and kansas city baltimore and the white sox on king felix interesting all right we'll have to see what happens there hall of fame voting results are here the class is headlined by ken gruffy jr who gets in with about 98 percent of the vote trevor hoffman's in palmeiro's in jeff bagwell's in craig biggio's in the next three out hopefully you know to get in eventually larry walker mark maguire billy wagner also edgar martinez rooting for those guys this is really universe where there's not a lot going on you know there's not pds are not a factor here character clause is not a factor it's all stats you look at the players that were more like fringy you know i'd love to see uh tim raines get in right he had such an amazing career kenny lofton falls off the ballot we were kind of afraid of that we kind of want to see him get in it didn't happen same with frederick griff both really unfortunate um but that sure that's your new hall of fame class bigio bagwell i like that they go in together paul marrow trevor hoffman and headlined by the kid ken griffey jr checking in on some of the trades that have taken place so far this off season it's really about the texas rangers the texas rangers they're always up to something uh they trade for our waldis chapman in december now chapman's kind of interesting because you know in 2014 he did have a really really good year i'm not sure if i made note of that before but he did have a really excellent 2014. in 2015 again not so good you know he's walking six batters per nine his control is a 35 on the 20 to 80 scale but the texas rangers pick him up and that's not the only guy they're gonna pick up in return um they send some just some guys basically not not a huge uh influx of talent that the cincinnati reds are getting in return here's a trade between the diamondbacks and the marlins that's just kind of an interesting swap of relievers archie bradley is going to join the miami marlins uh in return steve seashek we had 26 saves and a 2.51 eras joining the diamondbacks so the diamondbacks maybe get a little upgrade there um you know in return the uh the marlins get you know like younger like you know more cost controlled type of reliever rangers once again up to no good um they swapped brandon shipley who is a pitching prospect and they sent him um to los angeles that would be the dodgers in return for sergio romo sergio romo coming off another pretty solid year at a 3.38 era so that's another reliever added to the mix also keep in mind he was the 2012 national league reliever of the year and then guess what it's the texas rangers the texas rangers orchestrated trade that brings them jeremy hellickson jeremy hellickson joining the texas rangers after he had a really good season in tampa bay last year 206 innings pitched 3.40 era he's going to be a texas ranger next year um who else was involved in this trade andrew suarez is in this trade he joins tampa uh and uh so does uh mike gerber an outfielder so some you know some younger 23 year old like prospecty guys but guys who could also be like close to big league ready that the tampa is getting in return yep those are the traits so far and let's just check in with some of those top free agents because most of them have signed robinson canoe i believe is still uh holding out for more money still some good free agents available no doubt that's headlined by robinson canoe he has interest from st louis minnesota and philadelphia jake mcgee also still available didn't mention him but he's been one of the top top relievers in this save so far now as far as the guys who have signed some interesting ones for sure matt holliday he's coming back to st louis on a three-year deal so he's gonna remain a cardinal he's probably gonna go down in history as like a cardinals legend the way he's been playing throughout this save we'd love to see him keep that up through the uh you know the length of this contract but it's felix hernandez on his way to be a new york yankee felix hernandez signs a seven-year deal with the yankees again this has been probably the best player throughout this side throughout this save uh cy young awards in three of the last four seasons he has four saiyan awards total unbelievable and now felix hernandez sorry mariners fans he's a new york yankee and he gets uh a million dollars more than madison bumgarner across the same time frame and madison bumgarner is going to be a st louis cardinal so these two get almost identical deals but felix fernandez is like i want a million more than whatever bumgarner's getting and i think that's fair even though bumgarner's younger felix has been absolutely dominant prince field is going to be a philadelphia philly i like the sound of that prince fielder philadelphia philly and yes like he continues to play well you know this was a guy who had to end his career early retire early because of injuries he had that like heartbreaking sort of like press conference where his crying in this universe still going strong 355 career home runs way to go prince fielder now a current philadelphia philly uh albert pujols is joining the red sox on a three-year deal um we saw that they were interested in him before i want to see how their team is set up currently looking for ortiz looking for ortiz curious to see if maybe he called it quits david ortiz david ortiz david ortiz wow there's too many people named ortiz let's search for david ortiz no teen currently a free agent um demanding uh 8 million so the only thing weirder than ortiz retiring would be of course dave ortiz joining a team other than the boston red sox but they bring in pool holes so they'll have an aging legendary first baseman dh type no matter what starlin castro joined the milwaukee brewers it's a nice gift for the brewers um and this is a good deal too it's five years so castro becomes a free agent again when he's like 31 so he could definitely get more money out of that the brewers they have various they have some very like brewersy type players like i think diaz is like a very like brewersy type player you know just uh you know uh like someone could be like a slightly above average hitter but like really good defense for example i think that's kind of the brewers mo lately cliff lee two-year deal with the san francisco giants so i guess that's sort of their quasi replacement for madison bumgarner at least in the short term pedro alvarez i didn't even talk about his free agency but pedro alvarez signs a seven year deal with the detroit tigers at 11 million aav granted but i haven't said his name much but he's put together some solid seasons some solid like power seasons um but yeah it seems like a lot to give a seven year deal to a guy who is like a below league average hitter i guess he's sort of the replacement for like you know cabrera and speaking of cabrera he's gonna be a cincinnati red he signs a a four-year deal 20 million aav with an opt out in 2019 cabrera had a really nice year he earned this contract and uh he's gonna be a cincinnati red looks like he's gonna be playing first base for them so there you go those are the top free agents to sign so far also jason worth joining the red sox he had a really good 2015. i shouldn't forget jason worth so there you go those are some of your top free agents some still to go like robinson canoe and jake mcgee but yep that's how this off season is shaping up so i've moved ahead forward here to spring training 2016 looking at sort of the winners and losers of the offseason so far sorted by how much war they've added from last year or lost from last year new york yankees cardinals and phillies looking like the winners of this offseason so far and it's the royals tigers and reyes who have been struggling so far this offseason losing a lot of talent i want to talk about the new york yankees because the exciting update for them is that they have signed robinson cano so not only do they add felix hernandez who again has been just an absolute freak in this uh robinson canoe they add him he returns back to new york yankees after a couple years with the boston red sox interesting they also had hiroki kuroda who's going to return for his age 41 season kunis gracious hiroki kuroda what a what an interesting story there i mean he he's one of those guys who came over to mlb pretty late in his career anyways and pitched really well but this is this is really something else they lose to nard span they lose r.a dickey to retirement so radicky has retired but yeah huge ads for the yankees so far we can talk about the cardinals too um you know they return matt holiday so they don't lose him or gain him well they gain him necessarily on aggregate but they do get holiday back and they add bumgarner and they add john axford who looks like he had been a really good reliever in tampa the previous year and they just don't really lose too much the best player they lost from last year is like colby lewis so decent there and then the phillies looking like winners they add prince fielder um the best player they lose is david freeze interestingly enough but he's still a free agent so maybe they could bring him back anyways you're losers of this offseason one of those teams is the kansas city royals so let's check out the kansas city royals they don't really add too much there they acquire chad green via trade but chad greene hasn't done too much as a starting pitcher in this simulation so far maybe you should try him in the bullpen they lose jose lopez to free agency he's a twin who's josh willingham he's still a free agent michael bourne they lose him so not a great offseason for them they also lose uh will myers via trade um and then detroit tigers another team not doing well so you know interesting to see well how this what'll happen here in the uh american league central it's just a lot of talent seems to be exiting the division no more miguel cabrera he's on the reds no more prince fielder he's on the phillies no more jeff francis well he could still come back and then it's the tampa race who have lost 19 wars so far which is just crazy to think about but stalin castro is gone jason wurtz gone hellickson was traded jake mcgee and john oxford um well jake mckee is still available jingling he's probably still the best free agent left on the market but yes as far as off season winners and losers that's what it's looking like some nice ads for the yankees cardinals and phillies we'll see how that translates in the regular season we do have a trade of note as well and i think it's really interesting because it represents sort of an organizational philosophy right now for the san francisco giants san francisco giants uh they pick up wade davis uh you know age 30 starter really solid starter you've been pitching for the tampa bay race he can give you you know volume he's thrown 190 innings in the last two seasons each um in return they will get they give up matt duffy to the tampa bay race and duffy had been sort of like a solid role player for them he'd split some time with triple a and he'd done well so you know the raise they get the young cost controlled guy right uh freddie peralta also involved in this trade he's gonna go to san francisco he's only 19 years old at the moment but you can keep that in mind freddie peralta now in the san francisco giant system what it really comes down to for the giants is you know wade davis this is a team that's trying to move on from losing madison bumgarner and the way they've done that is by going after you know some veterans that can really eat innings in a quality way that's cliff lee who they signed in free agency that's wade davis who they just traded for and also ryan dempster ryan dempster was absolutely dominant in 2014 he had a 2.37 era in 2015 only started 11 games but yeah this is a team trying to make up for the loss of bumgarner trying to keep that championship window open that's where the san francisco giants are at on opening day 2016. you
