it was picking up the trace yeah on the nut before the valve four four so far four M drop so far still and still got 30 seconds left everyone welcome back to today's video now firstly I just want to start by saying a big thank you to everyone who commented on Sunday's video now I obviously did the job in the way the only way that I knew how to do it which was to convert it from a y plan to an S plan but I had a lot of comments from people saying that I could have used a relay to convert the voltage from a high voltage to a low voltage switch live I've not worked with relays or contactors before I think I mentioned it in some of my previous videos when I've come across it so it was really good constructive criticism like you know me I don't claim to know everything no one knows everything but I always say if you've got any constructive criticism if you got any feedback that can help me improve the way I work as well I'm all for it and this is exactly why I put everything on social media like all my work the good the bad the ugly different stuff because if I didn't put this up I would have done it again the same way if the situation ER rols but with the feedback that I've got from you guys that's really helped me out so now my next thing is I'm going to look into how relays and contactors work possibly buy a little setup make a little rig for myself in my shed and have a play with it have a test with it so that should I get myself into a similar sort of situation I'll be a lot more prepared I'll be better equipped to provide a more cost-effective solution for the customer so it's not to say that what I done on su's video was wrong there's more than one way to skin and cut but it's just there's a better efficient way more cost effective way of achieving the same result so thank you very much and I will be looking into that let's go into today's video which is a gas leak on a boiler that I went to previously let's have a watch okay welcome to today's job now you might remember this from some videos ago I can't actually remember when we've done this job last but it was basically a flu that me and vman here had to redo he's here because what was it what happened come to do a gas safety check and there was a 6 M drop over 2 minutes right and a strong smell of gas in the building so we need to find this gas leak now obviously we did our 269 checks when we did the flu and everything and it was all fine but I've had it actually recently where I went and done some work on a boiler nothing to do with the gas I had to change the expansion vers in prv it's probably a few videos back and then I got a call back from the customer a few few days later saying that they could smell a strong smell of gas and what had actually happened the condense had been leaking inside the wall and where it came out the wall it then dripped onto the gas pipe and it was just by coincidence that after I'd finished doing that job there it basically burnt through the gas pipe and they started getting smell of gas and there there was a gas SE there so I reckon probably May well I don't know if it's a similar sort of thing but it's a similar situation here where we've done work on the boiler before there was no drop and that was how many that was months ago isn't it that was that sometime last year yeah was before Christmas so he's got a gas leak now we need to try and find it and repair it because the bank of meters are here and the boiler is in there where that green door is so a new gas run is going to be nion impossible to do even if we do have to it's going to be some weird surface mounted gas run well all we don't want to think about that we want to try and find this gas leak so which which meter is it V that in here oh that bottom one there okay cool right so first thing so we're going to pop the gas on got the top T gas sniffer he's got his gas sniffer and we're going to see if we can try and pinpoint it somehow so let's get started so this is the boiler in question which you might recognize and that's the flu that we had to redo so let's get this gas sniffer out I really like this one this video will probably go out after I've done the giveaway so someone would have won this by now but it's a great gas sniffer they did give me a discount code previously I'm not sure if it was will be valid at the time that I'm doing this video but I'll speak to top T but what I really like about this one is that once it's paired you'll see it gives you a digital reading display of what uh was it PPM or L I think it picks up and then V's got his what's that rigging one so his one's just got a an audible beep where's this one yeah look it gives you percentage l so we're going to put the gas on and we're going to see what we can pick up with this so I think we've found it so coming outside seeing this gas coock now we've just turned that off and V is doing a drop test again but I don't know if he's left the gas on but I literally put my sniffer there okay that was going up but I think it might be because V is doing a drop test I might have turned the gas back off let me go let's go and see what vman's doing is the gas on or off is it dropping still dropping yeah I reckon it's on that nut because it was picking up the trace yeah on the nut before four the valve two three four four so far four M drop so far still and still got 30 seconds left Okay cool so well okay we're still dropping so turn it back on and uh let me go what's your fluid in there that's right it's not going to fly off is it right okay he's got that back on let's go and check on that gas clock so again if I just put my sniffer around there all right this is uh an anticlimax because I was initially there we go right okay so is that on the compression not or is actually coming from below there is it no so look now the readings are going down but if I put it on that compression there let's see does it pick it up I'm trying to find exactly where it's coming from whether it's from the actual nut yeah look don't actually know if you guys can see with the reflection yeah look that is climbing that's literally there so that's got to be coming from the bottom of that compression up Okay cool so looks like we found the leak you to spray with some Ela first one you and just nip it up okay so yeah try nip it up first and see if that sorts it do your worst yeah one of many I think hopefully it's the only leak yeah I mean it was a it is a pretty bad leak I mean this was just loose was it Loose y there we go yeah just top one up just in case right gas is the one isn't it right let's uh see if we're getting any more readings now no that now seems to be okay yeah I'll go do a retest up to this point well no what I'll do I'll just turn this gas clock on now and just do a test because it's not picking anything up here yeah only thing I can think of is maybe it goes up and then through this hole and then yeah the building but the that boiler is the only gas suppli in this building isn't it so it's going into there and then the from there it must be I don't know where it's going all right go you do another drop test let me turn this gas valve back on and make sure we haven't got anything picking up up here or around the gas clock itself that seems to be miles better all right time to the tightness test and and hopefully we found it so we did a drop test and still had about a mbar drop so we thought okay let's just undo the gas clock put a bit of paste around it I was still getting Trac of gas very small amount but I was still picking up a bit of gas around it so I thought let's undo the nut put bit pace around it do it back up again and I'll tell you what it's a good thing that I did undo the nut because have a look at that Olive is literally right on the edge of the pipe so what we're going to do we're just going to remove this gas C completely cuz firstly this is going to be quite restrictive anyway gas meter is accessible it's just there so there's no need for this to be here so we're going to remove it completely and just press a coupling onto it make it all up again and retest it and hopefully that should be that should be it and we should be out of here right slip coupling is pressed in what were we saying zero Bingo sorted we thought this was going to be an absolute nightmare of a job we thought we're going to have to start cutting out plaster balls start cutting out the walls start digging holes luckily found it just out here and these Gest I'm still not a big fan of them because you can see they do restrict down inside but yeah that I can't I couldn't believe that Olive was literally right on the edge and that's what was causing that drop but hey ho it's sorted now and we're out of here done
