right another one's been turned off because the flu is going through there it's going into this now this used to be an open area so we've got the bloom kit going up there and then that comes out there so I just recorded this week's intro video and I watched it back and I realized I had it on slo-mo so take two welcome to this week's video thank you very much for everyone to returning to the channel like what you're watching hit the little Thumbs Up Button hit the Subscribe button hit the little bell button and I'll catch you on the next video enjoy this one howling everyone I don't know when this video is actually going live but the date today is the it's Monday the 8th of May so this is the second bank holiday of May so today's job well today's work is pretty much just a light day I wasn't planning on working today but being self-employed I've got a bit of a short week this week because I'm off on Friday as well so I had to come out and do a bit of work today however nothing major today it's literally just servicing so I don't know what I'm going to be walking into whether it's anything interesting or if it's bog standing servicing so I'll record anything which is interesting anything which is just standard I'm not going to bother film it because well there's nothing really to show so yeah let's go inside let's get started with the services and if I come across anything interesting to show then I'll catch you on camera but for everyone else who wasn't working today hope you guys had a good day I know we had some great weather uh on the Sunday today's looking it started off okay there is rain forecasted for later on but let's see if I get done at a decent time probably still go out and take the little one out to the park for a little while or something like that let's get on with the day now right first Board of service GreenStar 25 system looks like a fairly new boiler visually looks all good tapness this is done just about to start my analyzer checks and as long as it's all good finish up the basic stuff and move on to the next one okay that's the first of many so I've got what 10 booked in today now I just want to clarify so the services I'm doing today they're on behalf of our insurance company that I do a bit of work for you guys may have heard of it Corgi home plan I do work for them sort of to fill in the gaps when things are a little bit quiet they're not my main source of income most my work is obviously through word of mouth and recommendations but it's always good to have a little backup contingency plan when things start to get a little bit quieter they load you up with like services and repairs and stuff like that but there's services that they want us to do are basic 26 9 checks so no full strip Downs or anything like that literally go in I know it sounds bad um it's not great paper service it's volume based so like I said today where's the bank holiday I haven't got any uh actual workbooks in so just went through the app uh so you know there's about 50 Services sitting there so I've taken 10 services on today and it's as much as I hate to say that in and out jobs but I'm still doing my Twitter my pure pure minimum 269 checks uh to make sure that things are at least running safely so yeah um that's going to be my day today and let's crack on with the next one next one's not looking so good a bit dark but some split so that's that risk unfortunately one good thing is out gas meter's just there right next service got a back to Duo Tech GA customers been complaining about explosive ignition first thing I checked electrodes they are completely warped that's going to be the reason why they're getting explosive ignition and also aav has been leaking you can see that's been sort of leaking down onto the chassis as well so a couple of bits there that need attention so going to speak to the insurance company get the authorization for that um and then getting them booked out I've got the electrodes but I haven't got the aav on me so I'll just come back another day and get them both done right another one's been turned off because the flu is going through there it's going into this now this used to be an open area so we've got the plume kit going up there and then that comes out comes out there so all that used to be open that used to be the garden where they've had this extension built over they've literally just built over the terminal of the flu um and not actually extend the flu out completely so you know that's not allowed so unfortunately boiler's been turned off today for that reason until the fruit can get sorted out morning it is Tuesday the Tuesday after the second bank holiday of this month and today's job the first job I'm going to be doing is I've got 12 trvs to change so eph have client sent me out 12 of the trvs because I've been using a lot of the products so I'm going to be fitting them got my job in bag here I'm gonna fill that up with everything that I need for today's job and it's a sealed system it's a pressurized system so I'm not going to drain the whole thing down I'm just going to be dumping the pressure out of it and then stopping the valves over one by one so let's get in let's get set up and then let's crack on so we've got the Worcester high flow here so all I'm going to do first is drain the pressure of the system so I've got the return filling Loop point there a couple of little holes on this so let's start draining that out there we've got so that's my drain out I'm just going to let the pressure go down to zero so once the pressure's off then I'll just lock off the flow return isolation valve so that will essentially create a vacuum stop any air Ingress from getting in through the aav or anything like that and then I can start cracking on with all the trvs so I've got 12 trvs to do around here so once the pressure's off I'm gonna put a little mat down and just start swapping them over one by one so I hope you shouldn't take too long I've got about two and a half hours before the parking restrictions start so let's try and get it done within that time so ready to do the first one so I've got this luxual coming off got the TRV body already pasted up ready to go on going little today's tools waterproof matte set down little Plum tub to catch any water pressures off the system gonna crack the nuts up we've got some play in these pipes so that could get the valves off and get the new one on so let's get on with it foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] thank you okay so that's 11 done I had accounted for 12 because we've got one in this bathroom just move this basket but they're both on the old three-quarter inch connections and considering the age of this radiator I'm not comfortable trying to take that tail out in case it splits the rad because it's quite an Old Rod I mean this one's just in the bathroom anyway so it's not going to be affected too much whether it's got TRV or not I did say to the customer already that all of them I can change except this one I'll I'll have a look at it but a close inspection it's not really worth risking trying to get that tail light in case that red splits and then we've got to get a new rad it's only in the like an ensuite as well it's not a full bathroom either so it doesn't really matter if you've got trb control or not but other than that change 11 of them so you can see you've got one two three four five six and then another five that we've done downstairs as well so all the trvs are done I'm gonna now fill up the system check for leaks get the heating on make sure everything's getting hot if that's all good we should be done and the time is 11 40 so well within the parking restriction time okay so all is back on back up to pressure I've got the heating running at the moment as well sink at 57 degrees so it's not overheating which is good so it means we haven't got any air locks also I didn't have to touch any of the lock Shields so I haven't got worried about rebalancing the system been around the property all the valves that have changed nothing's leaking so so it's a good sign and there's a nasty eph valves so they look nice and simple straightforward obviously you've got zero to five you've also got a frost protection mode on there as well so that's really getting warm so yeah like I said I changed 11 of them I left that one in the bathroom because just worried about the radiator splitting uh the tail potentially splitting the rod so other than that everything's getting warm everything's working no leaks we're out of here and on to the next one okay so back at the job from last week I don't know which video this is going to be in whether it's on the same video or if it's off a different video but it was the backseat duotor or the potterton gold which was a backseat Duo Tech with the diverter valve that was leaking where I was about to change the cartridge but I've quickly realized that it was the one with the bypass so I couldn't just change the cartridge so I'm back here to do that I've also got a new although it's not leaking at the moment it's only bound to so I've got the new silicon condensed pipe as well because it's got the old gray one in there now I've got a reconditioned diverter valve so this is about well it's half the price of what it normally costs roughly and it still comes with a year warranty so I always give my customers the option whether they want me to fit a brand new pot or a reconditioned pot so oh we've got the whole divert above here however Electro gas parts they actually do a cartridge repair kit so where this one doesn't take the normal long cartridge that you get in the diverter valves that don't have the bypass this has just got the little section and where it's leaking from it's most likely just going to be in o-ring so they do a cartridge repair kit which kind of looks like that so it's got all the gobbins inside it this is half the price of that even so if I can get away with using this then it will save my customer money it will save me time as well because it means I haven't got to take the whole block apart I can literally just still change the cartridge and the guts inside and then where the flow pipe was leaking I've got a couple of O-rings to swap that out and where I had an old backseat at home got the clip as well so because that whole clip was all rusted through so let's go inside let's start working on it and see how we get on foreign valve so you can see it's just leaking it's like a better position so it's leaking directly from there just from the cartridge bit there I'm surprised I'm actually taking the motor out but hopefully that's okay and then the other leak was coming from the flow pipe there so it doesn't look like it's the main heat exchanger it looks like it's just the O-ring so I've got the O-ring I've also got the new condensers also going to swap that over as well because we know that's prone to splitting don't want to have that on our heads as well so gonna isolate the boiler drain it down with that cartridge out and see if I can just use the repair kit on it all right as always they don't always go straight as well as straightforward as you want the drain off on there that seems to be blocked so there's nothing coming out there luckily got the thing Loop just underneath here so and the non-return valve is on the cold main side so I was able to take it off the return side and drain the boiler out through there luckily the ball is the highest point because we're in a flat so I'm going to worry about any water coming up through the pipe work recharge the vessel and you can see the quality of the water in there and that's going to be the main reason why that diverted valve cartridge is leaking because it's dirty water and that's probably why the drain off is blocked as well because there's probably dirt in there as well so expansion vessels have been recharged boiler's drained out now start working that I've also sucked that in WD-40 as well because I'm gonna be popping that out and changing the O-ring so I need to pop that out I need to undo the expansion vessel nut there and also the connection on the left hand side there to be able to wiggle that pipe down and then change the O-ring into all right so I've managed to get the cartridge out so these cartridges they're not like the newer style where you've got one piece they in separate bits so I've got the top piece there and then you've got the little spring section in the middle now the rest of that block is hollow other than another little spring bit at the bottom which we don't need to worry about but luckily in this repair kit we basically got that so that's gonna replace the top section then we've got the spring for the inner section as well so should be able to replace that when you push that together so that spring goes into there like that and that creates your diverter valve cartridge so to speak so that I should be able to pop that straight back in we've got silicon Grease and actually get that done obviously the clip for the actuators has what is Rusted on so that snap so we're going to be chained actuator anyway put a new clip on there as well and then sort out that as well so I've let that solve for a while whilst I'm doing all this and in a moment once I put that back together crack the nuts there and there pull the pipe down and then change the O-ring on there as well okay so I've got the flow pipe off so I did the expansion reversal connection under the left hand connection there and there we go let's just date a bit and you can see again why that's been leaking because the quality of the water is just so so bad it's just Brown sludge even inside I don't know if I can get a shot right inside the main heat exchanger but yeah system is full of crap but take that O-ring off give it a clean clean up the inside as well change the O-ring on there pop that back together that should at least stop the leak and then I'm going to change the condiment size at the back as well okay so that's all done so a new cartridge repair kits in there new washers in there and in there new o-ring on the flow pipe new content size as well the black one black silicon one everything's tightened up and let's start filling up so let me open the flow ISO valve let's open the code underneath because I think it was letting by a bit like this see what the pressure's at all right so we are now uh uh bar and a half that's all looking good all right there we go all right so we're at a bar and a half nothing's leaking you know it drips so just leave that pressurized for a few minutes while I just have a little tidy up and put all the other connections back together then run the boiler and hopefully it sorted and we didn't have to change the whole left hand block which is a bit of a lifesaver in this in this case because try and get to that bypass at the back it can be a bit tricky so hopefully this repair gets done it [Music] okay ball is fired up nothing's leaking there nothing's leaking down there boilers not overheating pressure is good so yeah job done don't have to change the whole block repair kit came in handy okay here we are Electro gas boiler Parts embarking this is where I get all my reconditioned Parts on so they've got two branches one's here in barking they've got another one in North London near Great Cambridge roundabout so if anyone needs any reconditioned Parts pcbs diverter valves fans what else you do pumps as well pumps pumps fans divert of ours they do repair kits so the baxi diverter kit um divert repair kit that I just replaced normally you'd have to buy the whole block but these guys they do the repair kit which saves you a lot of hassle as you can see they've got a lot of Kit in their shop and they've got another Branch if this is too far food they've got another local branch down in uh great Cambridge Road near Great Cambridge roundabout as well so check them out if you're in the area and you need any good parts come check these guys out
