we're in the presence of god that's it let's lift our voices [Music] hallelujah [Music] as you stand across this sanctuary we are going to pray some prayers that we have been faithful to pray but more important god has been faithful to answer so we're going to pray right now we're going to pray for this nation the politicians may not know where to go or what to do but lord jesus the lord jesus who's on the throne he has all the answers we're going to pray for this government we're going to pray for this nation we're going to pray for an outpouring of the holy ghost like this world has never seen before would you join me in the name of the lord jesus christ god we come to you in faith today god we pray for this nation we pray god that that your will would be done in the midst god of all the uncertainty god we confess that you are still on the throne we confess that you have all power we confess that there's nothing too hard for you god we ask that you would have your way in this nation god we ask that you would have your way in this state and god we pray that you would have your way in this city your kingdom come your will be done in stockton as it is in heaven god we pray that you would do the work that you desire to do your word promises that in the last days you would pour out your spirit on all flesh god we're gonna stand on the word we're gonna declare the word we're gonna proclaim the word today in jesus name in jesus name god bring the backsliders back home god bring the prodigals back home bring them out of sin those in that are trapped bring them out you will pay your tithe in your offering that god will open up the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing that you cannot contain i want to tell you today that if you need a financial blessing you need to give them an offering today and by giving your tithe that's what belongs to god it keeps the devourer at bay and i don't care what is going on in the world god's economy is different than our economy as believers and when we give and we sow we give our tithe and we give our offering i promise you god will take care of you and there'll be an increase so may god be with you today as we have this opportunity to bring unto the lord the tithe and the offering into the storehouse that his work can go forward and that you and your families can be provided for through the means of giving from worship him hallelujah [Applause] um praise the lord if you are standing you can be seated this morning at least you forgot i never asked people to stand when i read the bible based on the fact that i read it for hours sitting down or laying the carpet so praise god well my family and i we're glad to be with you today this is a big step for us and uh my wife i think has been um she hasn't got to be in churches the building as often as i have i get to be here a lot more obviously but we are we're glad to be here and i feel the presence of god i feel like there's a tremendous spirit of worship that has been taken place and god has been setting the stage in this service through worship for the word of god that's going to go forward and build faith for you today and i want to read today from the book of judges praise god the book of judges chapter 14 and there is a few verses of scripture we want to read you that are not able to be with us today for obvious reasons i know that god is going to do great things in your homes your prayer walks and your time with your family we are joined in spirit today in the holy ghost but this is a passage of scripture that i believe is relevant for the time that we are living in chapter 14 of the judges now it says in samson went down to timnath and saw a woman in timnath of the daughters of the philistines and he came up and told his father and his mother and said i have seen a woman in timnath of the daughters of the philistines now therefore get her for me to wife then his father and his mother said unto him is there never a woman among the daughters of the brethren or among all my people that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised philistines and samson said unto his father get her from me for she pleaseth me well and i imagine there was quite a bit of dialogue that went between him and his dad we just get that little blurp there but obviously his dad wasn't supportive of this his mother wasn't supportive of this and he wanted this and so there probably was a good argument went there and eventually his mom and dad caved into him but the bible says but his father and his mother knew not that it was of the lord that he sought an occasion against the philistines for at that time the philistines had dominion over israel so let me re-read that last part for at that time the philistines had dominion over israel verse 5 then went samson down and his father and his mother to timnath and behold or it came to the vineyard of timnath and behold a young lion roared against him that means a lion roared in prepared himself to attack him and to destroy him but verse 6 says and the spirit of the lord came mightily upon him and he rent him as he would have rent a kid and he had nothing in his hand but he told not his father or his mother what he had done it says the spirit of the lord came mightily upon him and he rent him or he ripped him apart and he had nothing in his hand and so i'll start there there's some other verses we will read maybe i should go ahead and read from hebrews chapter 11 verse 32 hebrews chapter 11 verse 32 it says and what shall i more say for the time would fail me to tell of gideon and of barrick and of samson and of jephthah of david also and samuel and of the prophets and so what we notice here is that samson was a man that had tendencies to gravitate toward fleshly and carnal things but when we read the final chapter the grace of god was sufficient to save him and to make sure that he was listed among the men and women of faith that had salvation and we will maybe talk about that today some but back in our story it happens that there was a man and a woman that wanted a child and an angel of the lord disguised as a human being showed up into their life and began to talk with them and this happened on a couple of occasions and the angel gave them strict instructions about samson said first samson can never taste any alcoholic beverage he's got a ad here to a nazarite vow he's not allowed to drink other people may drink or feel it's all right to drink but samson cannot drink secondly samson is never to touch an unclean thing in his life someone else may do that but for the nazarite vow they had to separate unto the lord and had to be holy the third thing that he was to do was to never cut his hair he was to allow his hair to grow like a woman supposed to allow her hair to grow and so we understand from this that that the rest of israel did not grow long hair they kept their hair as men short and the women let theirs grow long so this was abnormal that a man would not cut his hair but he would grow his hair long he had tendencies for the world there's another man in the bible that also grew his hair long and he was a a poster child for rebellion and that was absolute and he had long hair and it was his detriment and it caught him in the vines but he was not in a nazarite vile he was just in rebellion against his father david and it cost him his life so we have these three things in samson first is that he could not have anything alcoholic second that he had to never touch anything that was unclean and thirdly had to let his hair grow long obviously when the story begins of samson at a young age when he was entering into the ministry and the call that give him he uh he didn't these were not his commitments he never embraced them on a personal level but he uh followed them because it was his mother and his father's desires for him and his mother and his father had told him this was our commitment to god for you and we want you to follow these rules now there is a huge difference between it being your desire to be committed to god or somebody that is in your authority or someone close to you that makes that commitment and pushes it on you because it's right and you out of respect try to follow those commitments and this seems to be the case in samson he had a wild heart he had a wondering eye he is never mentioned as a man that was really greatly used in prayer until the end of his life you begin to see samson pray when he had been humbled and there's something about humility that turns people's hearts to god and when he had been humbled by his eyes being put out his head being shaven and and chained up like an animal to uh grind the meal of the flower for the philistines that's when we begin to see him pray and sometimes god has to allow things in our life that are extremely unpleasant to get us to humble ourselves and to begin to call on his name samson could have started his ministry off by praying and seeking god and following after god but he did not do that he began to follow the passions and the lust of his flesh now god will often allow someone the freedom of choice even when he has called them to do something for him does not always mean that it is his perfect will or that he is behind what is happening or orchestrating it but here it was that samson should have been looking for a dedicated wife among the hebrew tribes that would share his lifestyle and support his commitment but instead he didn't want anything to do with the committed young ladies of the hebrews and he left the hebrew camp and he went down to the philistines and his old carnal eye found a philistine woman and he said that's the one that i want he comes back and he tells his parents and his parents say to him they said samson listen you shouldn't be over in the philistines looking for a wife isn't there a woman that is of our brethren isn't there a hebrew that is in the covenant with god isn't there a woman whose parents and whose father and brothers are circumcised and he in an argument broke out and when it was through uh he just said i want that woman and his dad said well if i can't propel a uh uh prevail against you it is my job as your father to arrange this marriage i'll follow the custom and he went down there what the father did not know and what the mother did not know is that when samson had come to the place that he would not walk in the will of god according to god's purpose it's important you hear what i'm saying when samson would not walk in the will of god and according to god's purpose this was an uncircumcised woman that he should never have touched she was unclean and was a breaker of covenant but samson would not listen to his parents he would not listen to the uh agreements that god had made and he said i want this uh item in my life when he made that decision that he was going to do it anyway god said i don't agree with it but i'm going to get some purpose out of this because i gave birth to this boy and whether he wants to live for me or not i can see the future and i know when i get through with him he's going to be turned back to me and calling on my name and be saved but in the meantime while he thinks he's out following his flesh i'm actually going to insert things that i want to happen against the enemies of god's people so i want to make this statement at the beginning the anointing is not a symbol of salvation i want to say it again the anointing of god is not a sign that somebody is saved or even right with god i didn't get a lot of response from that i don't know how it's happening in the homes or out in the prayer walks but i want to tell you that it takes more than just god's spirit enabling you to do the will of god to know that you're saved you see salvation is very clear a man or a woman must repent of their sins they must be baptized by immersion in the water in the name of the lord jesus christ for the remission or the removal of those sins and you shall receive the gift of the holy ghost and this makes the words of jesus that a man or a woman cannot enter into the kingdom of god except they be born of the water and of the spirit i don't have an argument with any of the churches in the valley the way they preach i'm like paul i'm glad that jesus is being preached but i know the revelation and the teachings of the scripture and we have no other message than that of the apostles and this is the message of salvation that a man must be born of the water and of the spirit [Applause] and then when you have been born again you are to separate which is called sanctification sanctification means to be set apart for the use of god it's to be holy it's to be a vessel of honor that god can touch and use not because you were rebellious but because there's a fondness in his heart toward you because you're one of his own and and he said come out from among them and be you separate saith the lord and i will be a father unto you and you will be my sons and my daughters and so there's something special about a relationship when a child of god makes up their mind to live for god and to mortify the deeds of the flesh and to crucify that old carnal nature at the altar and say you will not control me but i surrender to the lord jesus christ and in in samson's day and age there was a way of salvation it had to do with circumcision it had to do with the sacrificial offerings it had to do with service until only one god and there's a whole list of things much longer than new testament salvation because many many works were involved but samson knew those works samson knew what he was supposed to do he had been called to be a judge so he was instructed in the ways of the lord he had never been able to touch alcohol he had never been able to touch an unclean thing he had never been able to cut his hair and you can imagine that samson had asked a lot of questions why why why why why you know just like today why can't i do this why can't i do that why can't i do this why can't i do that why does a church stand against this why does the church stand against that we have answers but they're not just sometimes quick uh one-liners sometimes you've got to be taught for for weeks to understand something and you need god to give revelation it's not easy because this is a tremendous complex thing when a human being that is flesh has a spirit has to work through flesh to obey a being that is spirit and to hear what that spirit says in a book that is written through inspiration and so it's it's an incredible thing that we would be holy unto the lord bible said that we were to be holy and without holiness no man no woman nobody could see god because we can't get into his presence without holiness and the first step to getting to god to get holy we have to be willing to repent of our sins the only time somebody really gets in the presence of god unholy is when the judgment of god is active but when the when the relationship and the favorable or the positionship of a child of god you have to stay holy before the lord now that's enough on that but i want to i want you to chew on that and think on that this week uh some of us not being in church and going through the covet in the world we have let down the fence a little bit and opened the gate a little bit and allowed some things into our life that we shouldn't have done now that doesn't mean that god's through with you but it means you need to judge yourself with honesty and say i got to get some changes and get back to where i was before all this started i got to clean some stuff out so there's a free flow of the holy spirit not just to anoint me but to keep me in fellowship and keep me in relationship that's far more important than the anointing of god however when you are in the right relationship with god there is an anointing that will come on you that god can use for his glory and enable you to do something mighty and powerful in your life now samson as we stated earlier he had a wondering eye he had a carnal heart he was circumcised in the flesh but definitely not circumcised of the heart see in the new testament you don't have to be circumcised to the flesh but you have to be circumcised of the heart or you'll be lost you'll be separated from god there is no two ways about it you have to be circumcised of the heart that is the position and the relationship that is required to walk in the salvation of the lord and so uh sampson had the outward and god knew that the outward was not strong enough because if the heart wasn't in agreement with the outward they would continue to live lifestyles that were displeasing to god do we all understand that samson had all the outward signs he had the long hair he didn't touch the unclean things up to this point in the story we don't have any record of him touching anything he had never had alcohol he did everything that seemed to be in order he was physically circumcised he looked the part of a nazarite but he didn't have the inners of a of a nazarite he didn't have the inside of a nazarite because he had the heart that was carnal and rebelling against the word of god so how could god use him i learned a long time ago if you think you will use god god will use you you want me to say that again if you think you will use god god will use you and there's people that think because god anoints them or god blesses them or god does this or that that they're getting they're getting all the goods from god god's just using you you're not you're you're you're not a son or a daughter you're a spiritual bastard i know that's that someone said does the bible say that yes the bible actually calls people spiritual bastards now that's a tough one for this generation that doesn't like that word but what that means is you're an illegitimate child and he's not your father but he's using you because you are getting some things done that he needs to get done but it's not because you're his child and you have this position of of salvation or relationship with him it doesn't exist and so samson he had all of the marks of being a great man of god but he was going to do his own thing and so god said all right samson now he didn't tell samson what he's going to do he didn't tell samson's parents he said if you want to go that way when i get through with you you're going to be begging me to touch you i will humble you so humbly that you'll always be an earmark of somebody that rebelled and turned to god because of the humbling i put on you but until we get to that place i'm going to keep anointing you because i have a greater offense against god's enemies that are suppressing the people of god and and and they have dominion over the hebrews and i brought the hebrews into the promised land to give them the promised land and to give them the liberty and the hebrews haven't got their liberty that they need and they are oppressed by the uncircumcised so if you want to do that i had another way we was going to do this but if that's the way you want to do it i'll steer you like a a bull with a a ring in his nose and a chain i'll just drive you right down i'll show you the right philistine woman you want and though sampson he thinks it's his will going down there it's just his old carnal nature and god just kind of guide him yeah yeah yeah all right stop see that one there that's what you want he knew exactly samson's lust of the flesh exactly what vistage he wanted what kind of woman he wanted how he wanted to look and he found the right philistine woman and he guided him right down to timnath and he said look at there samson that's the one you want and samson doesn't know god's doing this and he says sure that's what but the bible says that the parents didn't know either but god used this occasion to have an offense against the philistines you may think that you're in charge even in your carnal stead but i'll guarantee you god is still directing your steps to some degree because he is going to have his way once you've committed to him i've seen backsliders go out and live the world to the fullest and think they're getting away but they forgot they made a covenant with god at an altar they forgot that they took on the name of jesus they forgot they opened their heart and get the holy spirit and yeah they go out and they look like they're doing everything that the devil can put in their path and everything the lust of their flesh can do but god's still remembering that weeping broken soul in humility crying out for help saying god i want to serve you god i want to live for you god i want to walk with you and god says i will not let you go i may let you go out there and get so filthy and beat up and and get to where the world turns on you and choose you up and spit you out but that's my humbling process because i want you to come back to this halter where we first met i want you to come back and call on my name like we did the very first time that you and i got acquainted hallelujah and so samson he thinks he's following his but the bible says the lord was in this verse 4 says but his father and his mother knew not that it was of the lord so you have to understand this was not what god wanted and was not the way god wanted to get the philistines but since man decided to follow his flesh god's plan was not aborted it was just changed up a bit but the end result was the same samson got to go to paradise because he humbled himself and repented that's a tough one for some people to swallow it's not always easy for me to swallow but god said i'm still going to get them philistines they're not supposed to have authority and power and dominion over my people so samson does this and his father says okay if that's what you want and then the bible says then samson and his father and his mother they went down to timnath now samson must have been ahead of them or he must have been walking differently because his parents although they went together they weren't in the same group and if you ever see the place over in israel you can understand how he could be at one place they could be at another and they maybe even set a time to converge and meet at this place and when they got to the vineyards the bible says that a lion roared against him and this lion came out to do business now i don't know about you but i kind of see this as a spiritual attack from satan the bible says that satan is like a roaring lion who walks about to and fro seeking whom he may devour and that is a in my mind a type because we're going to have the spirit come here in just a minute so we have a type of satan that has come in and roars seeking to devour a a young man that is not where he should be with god devil you need to hear this one today i got a word of the lord for you you're not going to have our prodigals you're not going to have our backsliders you may think that you're going to get them to a place to devour them but we better cover them in prayer we've been knocking on heaven's door huh and you can roar all you want but there is a god in heaven that's still in control [Applause] [Music] the bible says that the lion roared against him he came at him to do business to destroy him to rip him asunder and the bible says and the spirit of the lord came upon him mightily that tells me that prior to this the spirit of the lord wasn't on him because god didn't want to rest on an old nasty vessel like on moses the spirit lord just lived there in fact it would get so thick moses trying to walk away and the cloud just follow him around god said i like this one you're not going to get rid of me but samson's walking in the flesh and the spirit of the lord withdraw from him but when the enemy got to that place where he could have destroyed samson spear lord come and get on him because god had a plan for his life and the devil was not going to abort that plan because it was bigger than just a young man that was in rebellion it was an entire nation that was oppressed by the enemy now let me read this to you again it says for at that time the philistines had dominion over israel you know what dominion means it means that someone is in control of your life and they're telling you what you can do and what you cannot do they're telling you what time to get up and what time to go to bed they're telling you what kind of job you're going to have how much you're going to pay out of that what you're going to do for them and you have absolutely no say-so they slat what your life is going to be like and you just like a robot like a slave just do that these philistines found a good thing they found that they could intimidate these jews and they could they could rape them and ravish them and steal from them year after year in fact it was so bad that when they wanted a weapon to be sharpened they didn't even have weapons most of the time they were always being confiscated or taken from them but they wanted a plow they had to go down the philistines the bible says a little later and say would you sharpen my plow for me would you sharpen my sickle so i can get my harvest so they always knew when they had a harvest because they had to come get their sickle sharpened they didn't have a file they didn't have no tools no stones but god had a little surprise samson didn't need a weapon he was a weapon because when the spirit of the lord gets on you it's not by might and it is not by the power but it is by my spirit saith the lord because some will trust in the chariots and some in the horse is an acronym for the warfare material and warfare machines and and he said son's going to trust in that but as for us we will remember the name of the lord and the bible said the name of the lord is a strong tower and the righteous runneth therein and are safe and when the enemy comes in like a flood i will raise up a standard against him i will cause the angel of the lord to chase the enemies of god's people and so if i i was title in this message because sometimes i haven't been able to find my messages or know what i preached by the titles i don't know who's naming them but there's all kinds of names and i don't remember preaching any of that stuff but it'll be a name on there you have to listen to it so i want to give a title today i feel my help coming on that's a title that'll be for this sunday i feel my help coming on and here's this old carnal man that's in the will of god and doesn't even know he's in the will of god because god said i'm going to get me some philistines that are uncircumcised they've been abugging me they've been in my hen house they've been trying to oppress my people that i gave liberty to and i've been waiting for an occasion to get after them and i'm getting ready to go after him and i got me a secret weapon i got a man that has not cut his hair a man who hasn't touched an unclean thing a man who has not drunk any alcohol a man whose parents dedicated to him to me as a young boy and all he needs is the spirit of the lord to get on him now god didn't need a man that had all these commitments but god if he's going to give something he wants a little something back he doesn't like it when you just have their hand out give me give me give me give me give me do i need to say that again he doesn't like it when you just it's always given me give me it's all about me jesus all about me jesus all about sometimes you got to make some commitments and give something back to him you got to give some worship back to him you got to tell him lord i'm going to separate from the world and let you have all of me not just a piece of me on sunday or when it's convenient but i'm going to give you everything inside and when you get to that place with god god will put things on you and here in this story the bible says that the spirit of the lord came upon him and he took that lion and he began to rip him apart and i want to tell you something when the devil comes after you if he will do this for an old carnal man somebody ain't getting what i'm going to today but if god will still anoint and use and keep and preserve somebody that ain't right standing with god and when the devil comes in to devour them in the form of a lion would give them the anointing not only to run away or to hide but to actually defeat the enemy i want to ask you what will god do for his children what will god do for you what will god do for you that are watching me right now that have been walking with god i want to tell you that god will do more than he has ever done for those that are not his own people but god just getting warmed up you see the devil said i'm going to stop samson on his way to timnath and god said no no no i got a plan he's got to get to timnath because i've got some philistines that have got to stir up but the devil didn't know the plan of god you see the bible says when jesus came to the earth it said when they arrested him and they took him to pilate and they took him to herod and then took him back to pilate it said if the prince of this world the princes plural of this world had no one it wasn't just referring to them natural earthly governments it's talking to them demonic powers i'm telling you if the devil knew what was going to happen when jesus said it is finished he would have he would have done everything he could to drag pilate out of that hall kicking and screaming i mean it would have been over for pilate if he really thought that what what calvary was going to do was strip him of the keys of death and hell and the grave he had no idea he had no idea that those saints locked up in paradise were getting ready to be led captive captivity he had no idea that he was going to be demoted and made a show of openly as the lord marched him down the halls of hell in the halls of heaven and said this is who i conquered when i put my foot on his head this is who i i got down there and took the keys from [Applause] he had no idea he he he didn't realize and the devil got here and he said i'm going to just stop say stop sampson from getting out and he lunges out he motivates this lie and this animal to go out and destroy him what happens is unique because that lion is later on going to provide some nourishment what meant to kill him now becomes strength to him for another battle you read it yourself it was designed to kill him and when the spirit of the lord got through with him it now became a source of a nourishment it became a source of energy it became a source of strength to the bees got in and there was honey in there and when he took of that it lightened his eyes and it caused his it caused his body to have streak and he was ready for the next fight bring it on devil it's not by might it's not by but it's by the power of god that comes on me in the middle of a battle and so he goes down there and the bible says that when he gets there 30 young men coming they bad dream about this that and the other and he creates a riddle and he tells them you can do this that or the other and if you can answer that i'll give you this and i'll give you that well this old philistine woman comes to him and she says she starts crying you know they always good actors the world's full of phonies starts a crying and and putting on the dog samson if you love me you'll do this delilah did it too but now this one's doing the first one and i mean she just and oh sampson's he's a sucker for a dame as they say i mean he just he just is bowed right over with this oh heathen uncircumcised philistine and he just says oh anything you want to know yes here's the riddle and he tells her she just walks right out and tells them now what kind of relationship is that and a bit of trust in that relationship i mean right then the the writing should have been on the wall for samson but he was a dumb one maybe god blinded him a little bit i don't know see he thought he was using god but god was using him maybe god caused him not to see all that knowing what he was going to do and so samson tells her they show up and they say pay up bud we we got the riddle and he knows what happened see god sought an occasion god orchestrated that woman to cry just right orchestrated that heart to be just the right degree of softness orchestrated that they would get to her and get the answer but the bible says in verse 18 of 14 and the men of the city said unto him on the seventh day before the sun went down what is sweeter than honey and what is stronger than a lion and he said unto them if you had not plowed with my heifer ye had not found out my riddle he was calling her a heifer that was just terminology back then if you hadn't got involved with with my wife you would never have this information when he got through speaking i want you to look what happened the bible says and the spirit of the lord came upon him and he went down to escalan and slew 30 men of them and took their spoil and gave change of garments unto them which expanded the riddle and the anger was kindle and he went up to his father's house god did a mighty work 30 heathen were killed 30 enemies of god's people you ain't seen nothing yet honey god just getting warmed up he just getting started in his vengeance toward the people that have oppressed his people you see there is a there is a real harvest time on god's calendar for those that oppress his people tempt his people draw his people away turn his people's head god has a payday for those kind of people make sure when that harvest time comes you're with the people of god and not the people that are reaping because when that judgment comes there's no turning back and so the bible says that he got mad see his anger was kindled we thought that would appease samson no no no god if you go back had orchestrated an offense against the philistines it wasn't just for those 30 it was a road it was a plan that was growing it was snowballing and sampson whitney said it's harvest time now today when we harvest we have tractors that plow we have tractors that sow seed we have tractors that weed we have tractors that spray we got an easy way to farm today and i'm not saying farming is easy i mean it's tough on farmers there's a lot of work but when you compare back then you had to go out and hook up the oxen and you had a wood plow with either uh some kind of a metal an alloy uh maybe a copper whatever it was or maybe just getting some iron and you had to break up the fallow ground you didn't get the water hose said let's soften this ground up you had to wait till it rained and if it didn't rain you still had to do it and then you had to take the seed that wasn't genetically met modified and plant it and it did have all the resistance that some of the seed does today and you didn't know you you had to kind of cross and hope that your harvest would grow it was work to get a harvest and they had all these wheat fields and they had worked all year long and got it to the right place you see god knows how to take the spoil god knows how to take what the sinner does and turn it against him they spent a whole year getting ready for this and in one day god destroyed it and samson went out there and it doesn't say how he got him but i'm believing the spirit of the lord got on him also and he caught him 300 foxes and he tied their tails together and it'd be like getting 300 dogs and tying all their tails together and then lighting that tail on fire you imagine the wild frenzy that would happen with those dogs they would run every way dragging the bigger ones dragging the smaller ones they're yelping and they're screaming as a fire and you know hair just sizzles if you ever had to get any fire on your hair i did one time it just sizzles pops and crackles and you're trying to get that thing out i mean them dogs were rolling and barking and screaming that fire was driving them and they're running out in that field and everywhere there's a there's a patch of wheat that somebody work the fires start now there isn't no fire department to call there's no garden hose to turn on there's no uh running water from the sprinklers you can turn on there's no well close by they just have one in the village and you have to put it on your shoulders and carry it and then and they couldn't do anything about it and they show up and they are so angry that 3 000 of them joined together now to get 3 000 people to come after you you've got to have done something bad you know to get 30 after you you you it was a tough deal but to get 3 000. verse 11 of 15. i'll be shutting it down here in a few minutes but i want to lay these points out before we bring our clothes then 3 000 men of judah went up to the top of the rock edom and said to samson knowest thou not that the philistines are rulers over us it's a sad day when the people of god confess that they are helpless and defenseless and they have been made captive by the enemy well i could preach a whole message on that one phrase right there but i won't do it today but i want you to think on it that ought to never come out of the mouth of a child of god know you not that the philistines are rulers over us i don't care if there's a million of them i still hold to the philosophy if you want to call it that that one man with god is the majority and it don't matter how big the numbers are if god is on your side they still don't have enough i know some of you don't believe that but i honestly to god have come to believe that with all of my heart that one man that walks with god one woman that walks with god in the will of god and the purpose of god all hell can come against you and it's not enough [Applause] and those the 3 000 come said we're going to bind you up and they took him and they bound him up and of course he was submissive these were his brother and he didn't want to kill 3 000 of his own people and he said bind me up and he got down and they turned him over what a betrayal first we're confessing that the enemies have dominion over us second we're taking a man that god is anointing and we're trying to bind him up so his anointing won't hurt anybody or do the will of god anymore and thirdly we're so against him that we're going to turn him over to them to get them off of our back and let them kill him or do what they want with him now now now the irony of this is when the spirit of the lord gets on somebody it wouldn't mat they just had they just had you know ropes that they made but it could be chains it could be cables it could be a a a straight jacket it wouldn't have mattered samson couldn't do anything it didn't have to be a big rope you know some people when you see the cartoons and the little drawings and the kid's bibles see this big old like bodybuilder muscle guy samson didn't look like that he looked like your everyday god or everyday guy walking down the street because god wanted him to know and everyone else to know that it ain't the big muscles on him doing this it's my spirit that gets on it that's why god doesn't do some things for you because then if he blessed you with all those skills and talents you'd be thinking you did it when god's the one working through you and so god just make you walk around and be average now i'm not against working out i think it's a good thing to work out i like to work out i feel better when i work out but i'm telling you there's a certain weight limit that you can do but when someone walks up and picks up about 20 000 pounds and just does this you know that ain't natural no matter how big they are and when samson is surrounded by all of these philistines and bound up it looks like it's over in the natural you see the devil always thinks that the natural things are enough to stop god's people he takes a pandemic in the natural it's enough to stop god's people we got coveted 19 people are dying people are sick people are getting lesions on their lungs and he goes down the list he says it's attacking the natural man it'll just shut the church down i want to tell the devil something you ain't learned much in the many years that god's had a people it ain't shutting us down it ain't stopping us we may have to alter the way we do things but there will always be a church in this valley there will always be a lighthouse in this city they'll always be a people of the name it doesn't matter what you do you're just going to provoke us to call more on the name of god than we've ever called on god [Applause] now verse 14 one of my favorite verses because now it's starting to get the juicy part starting to come it's starting to get more and more it says and when he came under leia the philistines shouted against him notice it's always against him never against god but god always took it personal because he was directing his steps this is not your battle this is not your fight even if they are personally attacking you and if they are personally against you you got to get bigger than the mentality of the enemy and say my fight is not them their fight is his fight and i'm just in the middle and i'll just see what god has me do there are too many people that think that it's always their battle or somebody's always done something against them when you're in the will of god you are going gonna have people do stuff against you when you're doing what god wants not everyone's gonna come up and pat you on the back and say sister we are so proud of your stand for jesus we are so supportive of your walk with god we are so excited of the changes god has made in your life we are so looking forward to your blooming in the lord and growing in his wisdom and his knowledge and and no no no no no many of you when you come to god your family about cuts you off they didn't all have nice things to say and they still some don't have nice things to say your boss wasn't standing on and said oh i got a new christian at work and if you came before your spouse did they weren't probably the most happy thing in the world that you got saved even though the things you did in the world they hated there's something in the carnal nature that hates god more and so they had reached out to attack and the bible says and they shouted against him means they was going to rip this guy apart they was going to impel him they was going to burn him with fire like he had burnt his crops they were ready to do business god waited to the very last moment and that's the problem again some of us we want god to show up at eight o'clock but he's not starting to nine o'clock but we don't have enough trust for the hour in between and so god says i'm not going to do this to eleven o'clock tonight and you're saying god i have to have it by seven i i i'm getting nervous i i'm anxious i'm stressed out over this and god's saying don't worry about anything but by everything prayer thanksgiving supplication make your requests make it known to the lord tell him about it and instead of that you you're pacing the floor and instead of praying you're thinking of all the things that could go wrong and why it can't happen and god's saying just settle down now give samson this he didn't seem to be worried about much we as christians we could learn a lot from that sam said yeah bind me up it's all right i'm not upset with you guys that's your problem it's between you and god i know what god's going to do with me i'm kind of looking forward to it because i'm still angry i ain't quite got over my anger of what they did to me and and and so you go ahead bind me up well they bound him up probably put his hands behind his back i don't know how he looked but they bound him up and he just walking right along with him just as excited as can be because he knew anywhere there was a surprise coming down the path he didn't know when it was going to happen but he knew it was going to happen it had already happened twice in his life and he had full confidence god was fixing to do it again you see we could learn that from samson where we are confident that if god has done it before god will do it again that if we are in god's will that god will not forsake us if we are doing what god says to do and we are serving god that god will meet us at the point of need and anoint us to get through that situation and sampson said i'm not a bit worried and he's just a walking and they're shouting against him there's not one bit of a of a description of samson being afraid in fact if you read later after he cut his hair off he still shook himself he thought god wasn't through with him and god wasn't but god was going to teach him something there that's how confident he was and some of us haven't done one thing wrong we're walking in the covenant with god and we don't believe god's going to come on us and help us in the time of need and here's a guy that's cut his hair off he's he's he's gotten further and further away from his raisings and his teachings and he still believes god's going to get on him that's why that man had faith he believed god was a rewarder he believed god was going to touch him he believed god that was going to move on him and god said not this time samson you you cut your hair i'm going to let your eyes out i'm going to pummel you and that was the end of the story until his hair started growing again some of you need to let your spiritual hair start growing again you need to let the things that gave you that anointing in the first place to come back into your life you need to let the things that brought you to where you're at with god to get back in your life and bring it back a second time god is wanting to do it with his church again he's not looking for a way to discard you but he's looking for a way to use you and bless you and anointed you and cause you to be a power in the kingdom of god during this time that we live but sampson's just walking along and they shouted and they're going to destroy them and here's what the bible said and the spirit of the lord capital l-o-r-d yahweh the god of the old testament that created heaven and earth came on him but he didn't just come on him it said mightily mean powerfully i'm not going to give you just enough to get the job done but you're going to have an excess of power you're going to have an excess of anointing you're going to walk away with a couple of buckets full of that anointing you're going to walk away with more than you came with and when i get through with you they're going to know there is a god that is greater than daggone and all of the little demon gods they serve i'm going to cause this to be the beginning of the philistine fall and the bible says that his cords became like flax that just some old uh slim pieces of the harvest and and it didn't say they bound him with that it said it became like that that had been burnt and so it was like uh uh it was like the the charcoal it was just real fragile and he just it wasn't even like it snapped or anything he just kind of moved out as if he didn't have anything kind of shook the dust of those ropes off you see when the anointing gets on you the fire the waters the mountains the trials the enemies the numbers nothing is effective against god and this is where it gets good and he found a new jawbone of an ass he didn't find an old one bleaching in the sun ain't no record of an ass that's a donkey for you that don't know old english there ain't no record of a donkey that had died somewhere recently but somehow god said i'm going to give you a jawbone of a ass and he just moved like that and somewhere he must have caught something a little shine of of of kind of a bone-colored white and he he looked at it and he knew that that's a that's a jaw bone over that you know what that means the teeth are in that and it kind of goes up like that and comes down there or you grab the narrow part and you have you a weapon and he was ready to go after him now these people had swords and these people had spears and they had shields they had everything they came up against the hebrews so they were ready for battle it wasn't that they were all uh you know empty-handed and and without weapons i mean they literally came up and these 3 000 hebrews were scared of them so obviously they came up as an army they were known for their iron and and it doesn't say anything about them because it wasn't really a matter or an issue how many weapons they had this man had a jawbone of an axe that's all that's important god provided what he needed for the battle he was going into he gave him the anointing and he gave him a weapon they said now you get after it i want to get after these philistines and the bible says he found a new jawbone and he put forth his hand he reached down and he took it and he slew a thousand men with it the bible says one shall put a thousand to flight you can go through the scripture there are several situations where a man put huge numbers to flight when the spirit of the lord was upon him he went down there bound up but he came back a free man and i want to tell you the devil and the enemy in life and finances and relationships may have you bound up but if you're a child of god your help cometh from the lord the battle is not yours but it's the lord's and it's not over until god says i am finished the end of the story just to make it quick for you is he got another one of them philistine gals named delilah she kept crying and he fell for it seven times i mean just just an idiot but he kept falling for it and she'd cry and he said okay you do this and he'd say wrap me and and take this even braid my hair and finally he wore down you can't cross a line where god will say that's enough and he woke up and he had a bald head and all that nice long hair was laying around but like i said his faith was so great in god that he still shook himself ready to go to battle but something felt different and they tied him up and they said we're going to punish him with the ultimate punishment and they took a hot iron that was out of the fire and they melted his eyes out until he just had sockets and the eyes turned to liquid and ran down his cheeks they shaved his head they put him on a brace that was a giant grindstone on top of another the grain went down in and then they said you're just going to spend your life feeding the philistines you're just another animal to us and this is your punishment but they they made a mistake you see they were used today gone they were used to false gods they were not used to the god of the israel whites they didn't realize that god could forgive and that god could restore and that god could take a situation that was totally beyond help and put it back together and the bible makes a small little statement it said and his hair begin to grow and when his hair got to a certain length they let him into the chamber with all of their leaders and their governors all the powerful people of the political party and their wives and they had themselves an old drunken orgy and they brought him out to make fun of him and they laughed at him this is the guy that caused us all that trouble now he's just a nothing and they were so intent on their laughter they didn't realize that his hair had started growing he couldn't see but he asked a lad he said i know how this temple is built there's two main pillars here why don't you take me and put me between them little boy let him and then he prayed and the god that used to come on him he heard his prayer and he said let me die with the philistine and the bible says that more died in his last act against them than he had taken down in his entire life you see god won the battle and when the stones quit falling there were over 3 000 philistines and one backslidden judge that had come back to god and when the angels come to get the soul of the philistine they begin to take him into the center of the earth a place called hell but there was a lone angel said leave that man alone he's right with god and angel said come on samson out of this old body of clay we got another place for you to go you're not gonna be buried with the ungodly and they led his soul to paradise with abraham isaac and jacob and the rest of god's people that had went on before him you see i want to tell you that at any point in your life the devil will try and destroy you in any place the enemy's gonna try and make your life hell but there's something called prayer there's something called faith and when those two get together i feel god all over me there is an invisible hand that touches you there's an invisible touch of the spirit that comes on you and the anointing of god becomes so strong and what you lack god will provide what you need god will give you my god supplies all the needs of his people according to his riches not mine he'd go bankrupt trying to do all this on my but not on his he's got so much provisions it's a small thing for him to meet your need i said it's a small thing for him to meet your need and samson that enemy would come after him they thought they had him they thought they had him when they made fun of him they thought they had him when they bound him up they thought they had him when they put his eyes out but they just didn't realize you can't keep a man of god a man a woman down we may have strayed on the path we may have done some things that we shouldn't have hey repentance works it'll put you back where you need to be but some of you aren't like samson you're walking with the lord you're not you're not god's not having to rearrange the schedule to keep his ultimate goal but you've given god a clean path to work with because of your love and commitment to jesus christ and i promise you what god did for samson is a small thing of what god will do for you when you release your faith in the almighty god hallelujah hallelujah ask our musicians to come it's 11 o'clock this is earliest you've ever got out or seen me close a service but you don't have to be afraid of the lion you don't have to be afraid of the bear you don't have to be afraid of the fire you don't have to be afraid of the storm the only fear you need is the fear of god which is the beginning of wisdom and when you have the fear of god that's the only fear that's required of you the rest is faith and i believe i'm preaching and teaching and talking to a people of faith who know how to reverence god know how to honor the lord i'm going to ask you to stand in closing so this is the first time we've had to do this where we don't say come down to the altar it's a new part for us preaching's not we've been preaching a piece of glass for months got used to that it's nice to have a face or two to look at [Music] singing we've been doing that but we haven't been able to have an altar call except in our homes and we still in trying to take the baby steps we can't just come gather around the front but the spirit of the lord is everywhere in this building present and right where you're at that becomes our altar today that's the best i can say it and god's going to meet you like he normally would meet you down here [Music] but you have a small obstacle and that that that optical is this you have church mapped out the way that it used to be and it sometimes hinders changes from god moving in your life but i want to tell you god can do so much where you're at i said god can do so much where you're at right now and you can touch god and have god touch you you've been riding in your cars god's touched you you've been reading at home you've been flying at work there's different times you've had touches of god why not in a building that's been dedicated for him amen so i want to i want to pray with you right now and i want you to close your eyes and i want you to see a god that is full of love and compassion toward you this morning a god that wants to take your hand make a difference in your life god i'm praying that your spirit will move on christian life center those that are here those that are at home those that are out and about that are listening to this and those that listen to us afar god i'm asking you to touch every single one of them right now pour out of your spirit mightily upon us you know the things that we are facing are the things that we are going through and we are putting our faith in you and trusting that the anointing of the lord the help of god would come and walk us through these valleys you said you'd never leave us and you would never forsake us and you would always be with us and that you would prepare a table before us in the presence of our enemies to feed us and strengthen us when the enemy would come in like a flood i pray god that you would send your spirit in a mighty way to every born again child of god that's walking with you everyone that calls on the name of jesus this morning [Music] god move and bless and touch your
