hey everyone it is Tanya welcome back to the channel and welcome to another video today I'm actually going to be tackling little simsy's latest shell challenge which I have on screen right now if you're not familiar with the shell challenge basically somebody will create a box this is the Box we are going to be dealing with today and challenge everyone else to turn it into something without moving or deleting the existing walls so this is the Aurora simsy shell you can find it on her Gallery which is little simsy and it says download this lot and turn it into anything you want you can make a house Community lot Spa literally anything the Only Rule is you can't change any of the existing walls including the scarier interior box uh the exterior walls must remain the same but you can add interior walls the floor plan half walls fences roofs patios platforms Etc literally anything goes just don't change my walls and this is due on December 10th so uh this is what that shell looked like it ended up being kind of a very difficult one to work with based based on where everything is placed we have this outdoor in indoor basement section A little box in the middle was something so I just wanted to show you what we are working with and now we're gonna pop into the speed build of my attempt at this shell which I actually did over on Twitch so uh let's look at that now so as you can see I am building in the world of Oasis Springs that's where I showed you the outside of this house but I didn't originally place it here I placed it down just on a random lot and was trying to figure out what sort of style I wanted to go for and what world that might fit in and I decided maybe like a mixture of modern or mid-century modern so I ended up placing it here in Oasis Springs and this does end up being a very modern home and I really like how it came out I feel like a lot of times when I do tackle shell challenges I try and make them look like some sort of cottage or Suburban Family Home and today was just not gonna be that so I decided to have a entrance on the Upper Floor so this is a three floor house but you enter on the top floor and actually the basement I had trouble placing stairs so I decided it was going to be a separate like basement apartment that you could rent out or maybe you can have in-laws stay there or something I thought that was a bit of fun so we will get to that later and including that separate basement apartment this whole lot has three bedrooms and three bathrooms and it comes in at 95 a thousand Simoleons and change so it's a little bit expensive but I was really happy with the overall look of this and it's just a little bit different I got to use a few things I don't use very often some fun windows I played around with some Landscaping I thought about having these palm trees coming out from the basement I get rid of those in the end but it was a cool idea and uh this window out front I believe that's from I want to say that's from get together maybe I haven't used that in a very very long time it's such a cool structural window but it's kind of hard to make it work but I thought it looked really cool here and added a little bit of decoration to this build because obviously this is a shell challenge so I couldn't add or delete any exterior walls but I was able to add half walls and fences and all of that sort of stuff so I tried to make it look as interesting as possible with those but also having windows that are a little bit more sculptural helps tremendously I also decided to have this staircase like bend around in the front I think it looks so cool this way it makes the front of the house look really interesting and I have a half wall kind of separating that basement space to look like it adds a little bit more support for the staircase so and that is pretty much what the front of the house ends up looking like I do get some more landscaping and of course we'll paint it and stuff but I have pretty much figured out what uh the house is gonna look like at least on the front and then I'm working on changing out the Landscaping because I don't know that the palm trees just weren't working and so I decided to go a different route and I used a lot of these Joshua trees which came with strangerville which I just thought were so pretty I love using these in The Sims because I just think they're so unique I know they're a real thing and you know they exist but they're not something I've ever seen in real life I live nowhere near where Joshua trees actually grow and so whenever I get to use them in The Sims it's really exciting because they're just like this really unique tree that uh I think looks so pretty if you like this build you can download it right now it is available on these Sims 4 Gallery you can find it under my eaig which is Griffey g-r-y-p-h-i you can also find it under the hashtag missgruffy and that information will also be in the description down below as well well so right now I'm trying to figure out the floor plan trying to figure out the stair placement and this staircase plays really simply it's trying to get one to the basement that didn't and I'm pretty sure I cut out most if not all of that footage because it just wasn't working it really wasn't working there wasn't going to be a way to place another staircase so I didn't end up doing so in the end I ended up having a staircase outside to go down into the basement space and also right here I was thinking when you walk in the kitchen space was going to be here but that's not how this ended up going either I actually end up having it so when you enter you're entering on the top floor and there's a hallway with a bathroom and two bedrooms and then if you go downstairs you are in the living space it's a little bit of a weird layout but I thought it was really fun and I think shell challenges are the perfect time to experiment with layouts because you're kind of stuck with the walls uh so you might end up with something different than you would typically do so this was a lot of fun and I think the layout came out so cool in the end and this little box was just I was not very happy about it being there but it did lead to us having a very interesting shaped kitchen which I quite enjoyed we end up having that like tucked down by one platform I'm pretty sure and I actually end up putting the fridge in that little box shape which was really cool I also ended up having a laundry room and a bathroom in here in those two three by one spaces and I'm just placing down some furniture to get an idea of the shape of this space and like where I wanted to put all the furniture uh and where it would all fit so that's what we're doing right now and then figuring out our flooring some of the furniture I placed down as placeholders I end up keeping but I just was generally placing it down just to get an idea of the spacing in this home so I'll be doing that downstairs in this little like extra space that I have that's sort of like a little apartment so I'm just grabbing some Cabinetry here as false countertops a little bed uh to get an idea of where I want everything to be and at this point I was still trying to figure out a way for upstairs to connect so I was thinking maybe a little storage room with a ladder that leads down but I got rid of that in the end and it just made so much more sense to have that as a separate little apartment downstairs and it allowed me to make the bathroom bigger and it just it looks way better that way so I kept it that way and then we should be starting here on the kitchen on the Upper Floor which is actually the middle floor the ground floor but it's not the floor you enter on it's a really weird floor plan but uh this is going to be the kitchen space and as you can see here I'm adding an archway and I'm going to push the fridge into here I can only push it in a little bit until like it doesn't function anymore so right now the way I have it it doesn't work but I do play test this and move it to to a spot where it does work I wanted to make sure it was functional obviously so I do play around with that but I think it's a really cool idea and an interesting way to use this little box that I wasn't allowed to get rid of because of the shell uh thanks Kayla for that um but I do think it came out really cute in the end and I went with these countertops which are from a dream home decorator I particularly wanted to use these because of the end pieces that are curved and the ones that have the towel on the end I just think they're really cute so I opted for those in this space and I actually really like that the fridge is not on the same wall as the rest of the items because it's such a tall item I feel like it takes away from the like Sleek look of the kitchen so I quite liked that everything else here was pretty low profile and I love the windows that I put up above the sink those are some of my favorites I like to kind of switch them back and forth and use those as like a very decorative window piece it looks very sculptural or artistic I don't know how to explain it but I really do like those particular windows so I was happy to use those here and then I'm just getting some decorations throughout the space so we have our cutting boards a place to dry some dishes uh this shelving unit I can't remember if I keep it or not but I really like it it has a very similar wood tone and I you start shoving in it a lot because it's just so pretty that came from the cool kitchen stuff pack as did the plate rack that I have I'm also using some actual plates and cups uh it's so nice to have that clutter now the cups are from the everyday clutter kit and the plates are actually from Snowy Escape I'm pretty sure and they're just such nice pieces to finally have to decorate our kitchens so that's pretty much it for this space I should be getting a tile backsplash and I also got that plant over there I also decided to get this really pretty curtain from the dream home decorator pack in a pink Swatch I will be swapping it here shortly and I moved the counters around so that the sink would be centered under those windows and that's pretty much it for this kitchen I really like how it came out there was a lot of like fiddling with it to get the right orientation of the items because it's a weird shape and getting the fridge to work but it did all come together in the end and it's one of my favorite kitchens I've done in a while moving on to the living room space I first really wanted to use this fireplace from Snowy escape and I have it up on this platform which I think looks really cool but I do end up changing it in the end just because the placement I have of the TV ended up being really awkward I tried placing it up above here and it just wasn't working and so I decided I wanted to have like a side table off Under the Stairs where the TV would be but with how wide this platform was it just it didn't look right so unfortunately I do change the fireplace to be the metal one that came with Eco lifestyle which I really love I just also really like this fireplace I was a little sad to not use it here but I think it came out okay in the end regardless and then I am using a little sectional that is from the my first pet stuff stuff pack this one is a like just a single sofa that has an end that easily Clips together so you could make it sort of a sectional and it has a couple of swatches that are really cute most of them are very colorful and have like dogs and cats on them but this one in particular I think is really nice this beige Swatch so I was happy to use that here and then I'm just trying to figure out what I want to put over here in this corner I changed it up so many different times I'm pretty sure I did go with this bookcase in the end with a different lamp and then you can see how Awkward the TV looks so I am just moving it over slightly and getting a different fireplace here and I just think that looks way better than it did before it just took a lot of fiddling to find that final layout for this space and then I keep trying to make this lamp work but I'm pretty sure I go with a one from Tiny living in the end yeah this really big lamp which I really like I have a lamp very very similar to that in real life in my office it's from Ikea so it looks very similar and this is the table that I put down as a placeholder to begin with but I decided it would be perfect to actually use in this house I like the pop of black in here uh this particular table is from Island loving it's a really pretty one I don't use it that often though because you can't change the pattern or the color of the top of the table just the legs so you have to have a house where the black tabletop makes sense and I thought it worked really nicely here so I was happy to use it just because it had been such a long time and then I just got some decorative cabinets over here in the corner and as I had mentioned those two two by or three by one rooms are one of them is the bathroom and one is a laundry room I think we'll be decorating those next after I finish this space uh the one over closer to the kitchen ends up being in the laundry room and then I just got a little rug here by the back door as well I wanted to make sure we had like things you would need by the door and so there ends up being a bit of a backyard I don't think it's too complicated it ends up being pretty cute though and uh getting you know a couple of things by the door as well like an umbrella and all of that and then this is just a half bath in here I didn't put a shower in here because I was thinking having the one upstairs was fine the one upstairs is a full bathroom whereas this one is just half a bath down by the living space so I thought that that would be good and the other room that I have down here actually ends up being an art studio which is so pretty I wasn't really sure what I was gonna do with that space yet but when I was decorating the outside of the house I did put a skylight there so uh it took a little bit of deciding to figure out what to put in that space I considered making a greenhouse or just like a sitting room it could have been another bedroom but I decided an art studio in the end because I just thought the lighting was so nice in there so that was a lot of fun but that is definitely a room you could change into something else if you go ahead and download this house you can also download just the shell of this house that little simsy uploaded on her gallery please go try the shell challenge this was so difficult to do I would love to see what everyone else does with it and I know it'll be a lot of fun to see what Kayla thinks of everything when she tours a bunch of them on stream and and also let me know if you'd like to see a shell Challenge on my channel I haven't done one in a while but I'm kind of toying with the idea of doing one this upcoming month for December maybe doing some tours on the channel as well as doing some over on Twitch as well and looking at them live I think it could be fun so let me know what you think of that anyway this studio space is pretty much done I have a bunch of art leaning on the grounds we have an easel a place for some like still art pieces for you to use for still life references of course have some plants in a trash can I think it came out really cute in the end so I was quite happy with that space and then we're heading on upstairs this is where you enter the house which it's a little weird because you're entering into a hallway and then immediately you have a staircase to go downstairs but I thought the floor plan worked better this way so that's what I opted to do so we just have a little bit of a haul space here with the doors to the bedrooms and the bathroom and I decided to rotate this mirror from base game using tool and use it as a horizontal mirror in this space I just think it looks so much nicer that way something about that mirror on the side I just think it looks so pretty I really wish we could rotate things in the game without tool but it's okay maybe someday or I wonder if that'll be something that is in The Sims 5 or project Renee that could be quite interesting anyway over here by the front door I'm just adding a spot to hang up your keys and your coats I kind of have the same sort of objects uh by the front door and by the back door because I feel like you could leave from either space from this house because of the kind of strange layout but heading out back now to figure out a layout for the backyard having some fencing in here I also have a big pool which I think looks so nice here and you can see I have a little pathway that leads you to the steps that bring you into the basement for that separate apartment space I also painted the inside of the pool to match the other pieces that I'm using around the space the different textures and stuff so it all matches and got a couple of floaties in there as well I love those I use them in like every pool even though I've never had a pool or floaties I just feel like it sounds like a fun idea and it's cute that your savings can do that because there's not that many activities your Sims can do in pools anyway I feel like the swimming is just kind of boring so it's nice to actually have the floaties in there I also got a lot of greenery around this lot and I'm actually putting a little bit of terrain paint as well just to make the whole house pop in the middle of the desert I quite liked that and I also got some loungers out here so your Sims can relax I believe we get a table and chairs and a barbecue just a lot of space out here for your Sims to enjoy the outdoors it's probably very hot though that's why I decided to include the pool because we are here in the desert and uh your Sims are probably going to be a little bit warm I have no idea how it works in Seasons if the pool actually cools them down or not when they're outside I just know I've had the problem before where my Sims have to go inside immediately because it says that they are dying of heat because it's way too hot outside so I'm assuming the pool helps cool them off but I actually for some reason have never tried that I don't know why seasons has been out for years I've always just been like oh no it's too hot let's go inside and turn the air conditioning on so you know oh well anyway we are upstairs now working on the two bedrooms I picked out a couple of beds that I thought were really pretty they're actually both from high school years and I based the bedrooms around that so this one's a more like black white and neutral room and the other room is a bit more pink but I think it came out so cool in the end I love this bed in particular I love the uh the pattern of the comforter and I feel like I would have this one for myself in real life this is just a room that's very much my style down to all of the black accents my favorite plant my favorite artwork in the game up above and just like a really cute chair over in the corner as well I tried not to overly clutter these rooms I wanted them to look slightly lived in but mostly just very clean and neat I tend to go for that Vibe when I'm doing modern houses for some reason I guess you could have a cluttered modern house but I tend to associate the clean lines with also like a clean interior so that is what I I went for here and that's pretty much it for this bedroom I was just getting a couple more mirrors on the wall to fill that up and a little place to hang up a purse as well but this is going to be the other bedroom once again using a bed from high school years in this beautiful pink Swatch and I match the bedside tables to the flooring color and got some artwork above there I also changed the color of the walls a couple different times because I thought this one worked a little bit better it's still a concrete but it's a little bit more of a peachy color and of course I got some plants in here as well because I just have to put plants in every SIMS house in every corner it just makes this face look so much more alive and inviting so that's what I opted for and here I also got a guitar as a nice skill building item and a dresser over in the corner as well really matching the wood tones in this particular room so it's a warmer bedroom than the other one but it also has some really fun pretty colors in here I quite liked this one even though the other one is definitely more my style I still really enjoy enjoyed this bedroom and of course using my favorite mirror in the game which is from Jungle Adventure I just really hope someday we will get some more leaning mirrors because this one's very stylized but it's still a really pretty one that I do find use for all the time anyway we are in the basement now working on this little apartment space I just have this really cute Corner Kitchen over here getting some basic appliances in here well they're not that basic they're they're base game ones that fit nicely under the cabinets and then I have a shower tub combo in the sink in the sink a shower tub combo in the sink a showers have combo in the bathroom I wanted this to have everything you would need and a little bit of decoration I just wanted it to be a nice space for your Sims to stay whether they're renting this out to a roommate or they have visitors coming here I just wanted it to be a cute little space so that's what I went for I got a simple bed from dream home decorator a couple of nightstands that match the flooring I also get a nice rug in here I think it looks so cozy and modern and I was really really happy with how this space came out especially because at first I had no idea what I was going to do at the basement area so it was a nice surprise that I was able to figure it out I believe I get some aprons in here that's my favorite kitchen like wall cutter other than the cutting boards it looks so nice and the TV is kind of weirdly placed it's in the kitchen but that was the best spa I had for it and then outside I just put a couple of spaces for your Sims to hang out we have a table and chair so barbecue I have a couple of things they just have stored down here like a bike and I believe we get like a doormat and stuff but that's pretty much it for this build I really hope you enjoyed it let me know how you think I did on this shell Challenge and if you did like this video make sure you
