I Can’t Rescue This Toyota 4Runner!

so we got a call for a toyota suv that is stuck in the river out by hanksville so we're gonna head out there and see if we can get it out we're in the cold part of the state so it's like 10 degrees out there i think it might warm up to around freezing when we get to where we're going hopefully it ought to be nice hopefully the river isn't too cold because i'm probably going to be climbing in it but it'll be a good day so i took this job last night when i was in the middle of another job and when i got down to the job i looked at it and realized that rory from moab motorsports was much closer than we were so i gave rory a call and i said hey do you want to meet us on this job and have lunch and he said yes look at me i'm in the front seat i don't know how it happened i'll show you how it happened take off your hat and bow your head that seniority that's what gets you in the front seat [Music] all right we are driving through lola this is the birthplace of ed he was born in a little cabin over in this part of town but he was premature and they put him in a shoe box and put him in the oven to keep it warm no joke true story so the plan is to drive into hanksville we're going to the whispering pines we're going to pick up the customer there and we're going to meet rory there and then we're going to drive back to the job and get it done [Music] it's got my jack links original beef stick here there he is oh no this is rory rory hey trevor sam tucker hey trevor lizzie's in the truck you want to tell the story of what happened sam yeah um my off-road app at a intersection told me to go left instead of going straight and then it said that there's a small creek crossing apparently it wasn't that small tried to come up it and turns out the other side was all iced up so my front tires just had no grip and then the back end just basically dug into the uh creek bed and that was that you ever been up to where these guys stopped i've been i've recovered a few out of the muddy river or the muddy creek whatever they call it but uh not this area [Music] tell me about trump this is an 82 chevy pickup one ton true one ton truck 454 big block four-speed manual uh 205 it's got a stock one ton chevy front axle one ton rear dodge axle 6800 pounds without being it [Applause] [Music] so the real reason i'm here is because rory has made two trips to hurricane to hang out and i just really wanted to take him to lunch today in hanksville because i hear they've got a really great dining facility in uh hanksville and i want to take rory there for lunch we had a hankering for some hanksville yep okay rory tell us what you're doing here i think in this instance the kinetic rope is the way to go really yeah all right yeah because i mean i don't even need you right that's usually not great on keeping the water out here but let lizzy have those we'll make her do the water stuff oh my god why do you think we bring her all right lizzy this is what you're gonna do hopefully the boot doesn't get stuck because then my food will come out one of those two keys is the ignition am i just getting inside of it or what what am i doing you're getting into starting oh okay [Music] well that's a good sign things are looking up well that's why we brought lizzy now show us why we brought you [Music] [Music] you put the transmission so you're gonna have to do full throttle until it starts to go and then back off [Music] i think you're gonna have to pick up on it we'll hook this bridle up to both sides and pick it up with the winch and see if we can't get it to pull out or break some suction at least well if it wasn't water it won't do something yeah it's not salty water this is why it's fun to work with rory because he's always in a good mood but i know a way to bring out his demons ignore him when he's spotting you so what rory's doing here he's hooking two winches up see i know this because he's told me this before and now he can pull up and pull out in theory depending on how waterlogged and heavy that is [Music] that thing's stuck i think it's out now though that thing was stuck stuck stuck being underwater that long it can even seep in through seals and stuff yeah right yeah but it looks good yeah that's awesome from the looks of the picture to the way it was stuck you did pretty good you were on the upper end of the scale and i i've learned to look at pictures and be like it's probably worse than it looks that was super stuck if we just showed up in the mor vera i'm not sure what we would have done we probably i don't even know talk to your audience this is your video rory oh sorry sorry sorry backing up all the stuff what's your thoughts on the job the toyota i had to come get out was right there but we came in from the other side oh i was wondering if you've ever come in this way to here no he came in on this road and then i turned right here he was right out he was headed that way i guess he figured that that wasn't the road so he came back to come across and just buried it there you go thank you so much hey now i'm officially recovered i guess we're gonna pack up and head out of here we gotta get lizzy to a swing dancing class by seven yep i'm teaching swing dancing tonight do you want shotgun trevor let's head on out you can have shotgun yeah thanks lizzy you're welcome oh i feel special today i mean we're almost the same height so you can scoot the seat forward so i can still have leg room back here don't perpetrate that myth what's horrible she's not we're almost the same height what how tall that's like saying i'm almost the same side as matt if you are he's still he's still in the middle of his gear when we shift to third well you guys saw that that's that so i already explained that i only came out here to eat lunch with rory thank you sam but when we got to the job and started tugging on that thing the whole uh situation changed for me and now i needed him the whole time because that was frozen and suctioned in hey don't grin that much you got it wrong too the first time i tried to use the rope had to go with the winches yeah this time it was a win for the winches winches have never saved the day yet until today i want rory to do it but what am i doing the closing line oh thanks for watching hot dog
