These ioniq 5 slow drops are killing me. Literally the most exciting car of 2021 and the live announcement went a few days ago

Only the third car after Taycan and etron GT that achieves more than 1000 km/h charging rate over 75% of the battery.

The same efficiency driving as the Model3 LR AWD, but in slightly better weather.

It will be interesting to see what others come up with when they do their tests. I doubt Hyundai would release a car such poor highway efficiency. Do we know if this was a pre-production car? I saw other channels are doing first drives with pre production press cars. Any Korean videos? These have been available for some time there correct?

for it so now i'm going to do the range test the car just finished charging uh long story we are good to go uh the car is not running right now we better hurry so what i want to show you is that we have michelin primacy 4 tires this is the all-wheel drive version of the ioniq 5 we have 235 55 19 front let me check back okay staggered 235 55 19 in the back so yes i'm gonna do the final preparations and then off we go yeah let me show you we we finished charging 200 here so we're good to go all right we are on the move and you might be able to see it in the front windscreen maybe yeah you can see the header display i have the cruise at 93 kilometers per hour for the 90 speed gps speed and this car has auto steer the funny thing is that the auto steer is adjusted here and then this one is cruise control but you can disable cruise control while still having auto steer active so they are individually adjusted most cars do the autosteer and cruise control goes together so we have nice infotainment i mean in a nice instrument cluster right here shows you lots of useful information we have stellar charging percentage here that's also very useful i also managed to make kona i use scan my i mean i use it's called car scanner and it works also with this one you just use kona profile and you set it up and you see percentage and whatever over here so uh too bad i forgot to bring the phone holder but okay so anyway uh right now the consumption is 184 uh the first thing we're going to do is check the weight of the car yeah i'm going to show you some cool feature when you if you use a turn signal turn right you can see the blind spot there in the screen huh and then turn left that's pretty cool nice yeah starting to like this car alright my guess is 1940 kilos let's see front axle what one huh 1100 okay the whole car huh 200 kilos what the heck what the heck is this freaking steel in here wow look at the traffic today i don't know what's up it is just monday look look at that look at that super busy right now what the heck what the heck is going on huh corona summer 2021 for the win speaking of wind look here almost no wind that mirrors we can look at the windsock over there yeah very nice very nice i can show you something else this car has auto lane change you just gently tap on the uh left uh stock wait i was gonna i was gonna demonstrate something okay but it has auto engine we're gonna try it some other time yeah it's a little bit too busy right now um we've been driving for a while and you see we've been driving 40 kilometers now half an hour and look at the consumption huh 149 what per kilometer what the heck i only go home uh wait a minute and right now this uh asphalt here is about one year old so it's fairly nice very new asphalt and i have to say the car feels quiet it seems to have fairly good soundproofing against the the road noise but also in the windows so i checked it you see here i checked the the glass this one is double glazed window but it also has double glazed window in the back that is really nice wow many cars they tend to only have double glazed window in the front for example mercedes eqc the um i-pace those are premium brands even but this one front and back oh yeah all right we have turned around now and we are heading back south again you can see here we just turned around at the ritz it seems like we have very accurate distance but look here we are we have 80 and 105 kilometers it could look like we can drive 525 kilometers right now but i have to see if the stator charge scale is linear or not so this is also a way to check it so let me try to remember 525 kilometers at the highest charge towards the end it might drop faster than the percentage so we will see now i have to overtake this uh truck no it's speeding up okay yeah truck is speeding up a little bit well guys i found another cool feature this is one of the few cars where you can activate the backup camera while driving at higher speed look look at this but not only that you can do this and you can do this you can have 360 camera while driving what the heck this is awesome man it's probably useless but at least it's possible we are now at dar i just turned around and i also checked the distance so right at the roundabout it was showing uh 181.5 yeah now it's a little bit higher because we start driving but 181.5 which means that we have um three percent uh error and that is so low that i don't count it it's yeah so um i would say it's uh it's more or less spot-on uh yeah so uh that's good consumption is now 154 okay looking good that's actually very good huh it's on par with the mbb and platform cars like id4 and nyok eq4 whatever yeah but i check now by the way the stator charge scale is not linear it's amp hour based thing yeah so it will drop faster towards the end okay we're going to test now to see what happens if it don't touches the in wheel it's still staring all the stairs active adaptive cruise control is active [Music] and it actually beeps you for a very long time and i also check that i have no cars behind me and then pay attention to the road and everything i'm ready to take over there cisco whoa all the stairs suddenly disengage and it slows down but all the stairs disengaged [Music] but it's at least it stays in the lane yeah yeah it it does that ping pong but it stays in the lane okay okay i i say that's uh that's approved ah i'm good i'm good i'm gonna go there all right and now i'm gonna show you auto lane change this symbol needs to be active then you just gently tap on the [Music] turn signal oh okay it's uh yeah we just hit the merge uh it also yeah i have to say this car doesn't handle the mergers very well okay anyway let's try again okay auto lane change will oh maybe i have to hold the steering wheel i forgot how to hold the steering wheel a little bit and now when it initiates it will then do the lane change without any hands interrupt yeah interfering and then it finishes and then you do it the other way turn hold the string a little bit and then it does the the the lane change for you now you see you want you want me to keep this thing i want to demonstrate that you don't have to touch the steering wheel and that it will do the turn for you all right we are almost done now we have done 452.7 kilometers and we are down to two percent yes we're gonna go deep but actually according to uh the bms we have eight we have six point five percent left i can show you later but i think this is good enough oh one percent one percent yeah one point five percent left okay so you might end up over there with one percent i think that's good enough yeah let's pull out pull out now pull out we are now at ionte let's check out the charging speed here okay 67 oh look at that voltage look at that it's ramping up now 100 120 will it hit 200 kilowatt wow wow look at that speed holy macaroni 200 oh okay maybe the batter is too cold yeah 662 volt 308 amp wow this is impressive okay but i don't have too much time i have to charge a little bit okay do you know what the plan is going to be i'm going to charge to 35 and then i will unplug to let the battery cool down a little bit and meanwhile i go to the restroom and then we do the high speed run we are now in a high speed test and as forecasted there was supposed to be a little bit of rain yeah we see it now so a little bit of rain okay um that will actually bring up the consumption bit so ideally if i can borrow this car for a week i could find a day without rain but um i have to return it tomorrow so this is the only measurement i can do unfortunately well at least i'm i noticed that the car is very quiet even at 120 kilometers per hour is nice and quiet in here okay we are now heading back but uh see that we might have to drive a little bite okay i guess i would do a little uh hurricane loop but i will show you that for the most stretch it's actually dry yeah the first recording i did we just happened to hit the rain but i would say that at least 95 of the stretch is dry consumption by the way right now is 250 watts per kilometer okay we are now back at the starting point so uh in the 90 test i managed to drive 454 kilometers with 1.5 left because i have this app called uh car scanner where i can see exactly how many percent to have and that means that uh we have uh 461 kilometers of range that's on par with them with the german rivals also like id4 and whatever the same with the consumption also on par with the other cars the other cars had slightly higher consumption but they run they run at lower temperatures so if they will also run at around 25 degrees then i bet they will also have very similar consumption um but when it comes to kilowatt the capacity uh it's claimed to have 72.6 i think kilowatt hour but that's nominal capacity so in a real world test like i do i managed to get 70.6 kilowatt hour and then the two kilowatt hour is then lost in heat because because of uphills and whatever and then in the high speed test um we had a little bit colder weather a little bit of rain but 140 244 watt upper kilometer and that means 289 kilometers range so uh okay not the best but remember that this is a fairly spacious car yeah it's not a sedan so you can't compare it to a model three but you should compare to maybe a model y or enyak or id4 and those cars would also have about similar consumption so yeah interesting yeah i think this is a pretty good option versus the other the meb cars but if you ask me which car to go for i would go for uh ionic five yeah i like this one but yeah i think that's gonna be it for now i hope you guys enjoyed this video as always thank you for watching and talk to you later
