Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
If nothing else, I love this car for emphasizing the new layout possibilities with EVs (beeg beeg hatchback anyone?) and for the pixel lighting.
It doesn't look weird for the sake of looking distinct, nor does it look particularly bulbous for aerodynamics (looking at you, ID4).
Now here's to hoping this one doesn't catch fire. Hyundai/Kia, and the auto industry as a whole, need this generation of EVs to sell and maintain good public perception.
Edit: heated/cooled seat controls that require using the infotainment is a trend that needs to die immediately.
We ordered one in November and managed to test drive one a week ago on a snowy day in eastern Ontario.
It was a RWD model on all seasons and I was very impressed with how well it tracked on the snow covered roads. We had no issues.
We are concerned about the lack of rear wiper on days with lots of road spray. And the pop out door handles didn’t close all the way when snow got in the recess. I posted some pics on the EV channel and will try to figure out how to share the link.
In Canada we are not getting some of the cool features that we see in European reviews, including the drawer glove box, reclining passenger seat, power rear seats, and some of the interior/exterior colour combinations, and the nicer headrests.
We’re in the same headspace as James: we’re looking for a daily driver to complement our sporty cars. We crossed shopped against the Model Y (no heads up display, $$$, less attractive); Q4 eTron (range not as good, 18 month wait); and MachE (charging port location an issue for us).

I love the styling. I just want it in like GTI size.
Though I understand that SUVs are what is selling and what most people want.
Edit: I stand corrected, the IONIQ 5 is slightly larger than a GTI. Now give me an N version, Hyundai.
Wow an EV that looks good from another brand than Audi or Porsche ? Finally.
While the car is good, I can't say the same about where prices of normal cars are heading with the electric revolution... the ex crossover/entry-level segment (at least in North America) used to be ~25k, now with electric cars it's jumped almost 15-20k.
Is it only because batteries are expensive or are manufacturers essentially using it as a scapegoat to squeeze higher margins? Who knows, but R.I.P. affordable prices
$15,000 dealer markups.
Right now, this would be the EV that i would buy before any other.
Love the look of this car!
I have to give Hyundai and Kia a ton of credit for this car and the Kia equivalent.
Every body panel is unique. The interiors are different, and they don't look anything alike.
This is how you do platform sharing. To average consumers they wouldn't know these are essentially the same car underneath.
Subaru and Toyota, I'm looking in your direction.
It’s really exciting to see even more entries into the EV segment and as James & Thomas said this is probably the most attractive offering in the “affordable” range. The interior looks cleanly laid out and intuitive, although I’d prefer knobs for climate control and buttons for heated seats.
I am hoping in 5~ or so years we see similarly sized EVs with 300+ miles of range in the $45k realm. My SO & I are picking up a RAV4 Hybrid soon as that has all the features we want and should get 40~ mpg for $35k.
For us right now we regularly take trips that are over 200 miles and the tax credit wouldn’t work for us. Maybe down the line there will be an offering that fits the bill but she’s hell bent on never getting another Kia/Hyundai for herself…
Edit: with AWD. Yes I know it’s a big ask but definitely necessary for us with where we travel.
