HUGE 60L Epoxy Live Edge River Table!

I've had the fortuitous opportunity to build a river table conference table for the entrepreneurial Center at the local Westminster College a lot of big words there I didn't go to Westminster though I went to Pitt so we're gonna put a huge panther kidding what we're gonna do is take these slabs which we're donated by the university they're quite pretty they're walnut and then we're gonna do this put them on my uber expensive flattening jig because this is why you pay the money for this jig and we're gonna flatten them out and turn them and then we're gonna pour river down the middle simple enough let's get to cleaning we'll start on the part that's the most supportive emotionally and physically let us make it easy dust i order a half inch plate of steel they come in four by eights so was 500 pounds we barely got it off the truck I had to call the neighbors forklift so we're gonna cut it outside [Music] so in all my brilliance while designing the metal shop I put into 20 plug right around the corner here so we're gonna try to get the forklift back put the metal closer to where I can cut it outside with the plasma torch and show the neighbors who daddy like like butter this is stop stop stop all time to go the whole way through huh no it won't it'll bounce back up find out I don't think it's not a water jet it'll just bounce yeah much better safety third we're grounded we're green we're ready for him the Machine thrown one you loose in the first place because I'm an idiot [Music] [Applause] weatr oh boy just having a fire in the hood oh if they don't want to do that myself you think just off hey [Music] [Music] [Music] this is where making furniture and designing things gets freaky deaky my concept for the bass was to use C channel and make it look like angle I excuse me like I beams because I love eye beams because I beams rule this accomplishes that I wanted to add some sort of trusts into it in order to kind of give it some more visual interest I had to change the design and the client signed off on my design change but like man I can't get over how much I like that so I don't know leave me a comment down below how would you guys do it would you use the stretcher across or no stretcher I'm remember there's gonna be two of them it'll look just like that going across all right everything's squared tacked proper it only took two hours burn it in you're welding large projects like this it's a good habit to not put all the heat in one spot at a time so you saw I just did this gorgeous whale here huh it's beautiful now I'm gonna go across the piece and I'll come back I'll bounce around and try to keep the heat from just being centralized in one spot keeps up from warping [Music] I do need more freedom ooh when this get here the new what is the rust or I'd leave it raw so we're taking it to powder coating you work magic on lot shittier stuff I've made it I always loved how kipper people when you just drop off a heaviest stuff like hey this doesn't weigh as much as last time the the damn black rifle bases were harder to powdercoat than those those really dull flat surfaces the black rifle things have like tubes and interiors to the depot we're at my second home the depot there's just so many choices for blowing [Music] well my muscles hurt pushed tiny man push [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] we don't have a table so we're building a table [Music] the molds dry let that sit overnight begins to all of my impatient nests so what we're gonna do now is mix up the epoxy eco epoxy hook it up with some of their deep pore liquid plastic this should work perfectly we've got 60 litres of it which costs in excess of 1 million dollars yeah we're gonna mix this up and get this thing poured that's got to sit for like 3 or 4 days no no mystery here this is what you see all the Canadians do on the Internet I've never done these colors before I'm assuming like half a tablespoon could get us good colour you don't want it to be transparent [Music] [Music] Showtime [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so now we wait four days one eternity later twelve seconds later 2,000 years later there's 23 degrees in here let's get this thing unmolded [Music] River [Music] [Music] I don't have enough meat [Music] this mother suckers too big to do anything in my shop so we're gonna go bum off the dudes next door say hello you're on TV now at standard custom I got a 5 by 10 CNC or haul this thing across the street yeah so we got a yeah [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] if that was holder team sports all right [Applause] [Music] oh nice I could've been way worse [Music] so we got this pig on the C&C what we're gonna do is flatten the bottom and then flip it over flatten the top fingers cross these guys showed me how to work the machine this thing is insane like what [Music] [Applause] [Music] sod1 one pretty damn good I think we got our bearings down now let's flip this thing over and get the finish the top the intended top note that mil bad [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so we're still at the neighbors shop I'm gonna get it sanded down and then prepped for finish or don't let us use their spray booth because they actually have a real shop and on a bunch of clowns like myself and Sam here this parts not fun so I'll see you when I'm done chemicals yep we got the table out of the back of their shop onto this rolling table so we can put it in that spray booth and the shop owner Phil had a brilliant idea Wow so tell me what you were thinking here a chamfer yeah that'll soften the edge of it too so that way people aren't breaking themselves on it right so we'll use a your panel saw right you don't mind yes this behemoth is something I don't have our Chairman friend our German friend why need you to show me how to do it because yeah I've never used one of those indoor drones panel saws by put table and [Music] [Music] [Music] so after a series of unfortunate events with a fan in our neighbor shop overheated for their spray booth so we're back in our shop and now it is time to get squirrely let us pray [Music] it's seven o'clock and we're losing our minds the table is sprayed but we're fine nothing's broken thus far we're grabbing a couple of the goons from the football team because they're my people we're gonna move this thing in and hopefully don't break anything don't step on that we're gonna pick it up sure as hell rain if you thought that back it's just big [Music] if you don't fit through the door just take it slow and with
