well he BBQs for a living so that makes sense - he even has an old traeger and Napoleon hanging around that probably never get used compared to his ole hickory and BGE

hey welcome back to how to barbecue right I'm Malcolm Reed today I'm going to give you a little tour of my cooking area how we have it set up here at the house show you some of my smokers I've collected over the years the first thing we did we started wanting to make an outdoor cooking area we had a little patio area but it didn't have a top or didn't have any bars or counter space or anything out here so I had a company come in and put me at top up I needed something to protect my smokers to give me some shelter out of the wind out of the rain a little bit and then I needed some countertops so I had my buddy Jamie just build me these basic bars and we put a little bit of grounded on them to give us a good top but I just wanted some bars that I could hang out put a TV on the wall and then my buddies can sit out here and and cook and drink a beer and watch some TV when you come on around come on back here and check out what we got going on the backside of our bars are just basic storage of course I needed a place for my chimneys and ash bucket a little bit of shelving some charcoal storage but hey it's nothing fancy but it's all very practical and I'll use the heck out of it now the first smoker I'm going to show you back here is my peak a 360 and yeah you can smoke on it but I mainly use it for grilling I fell in love with this cooker doing steak cook-off and I have several of the little classic models they're really portable they go in a little cart but the 360 is more of you're out you're outside patio kitchen cooking area and I like it man for cooking steaks cooking high heat you can't beat a PK they cook awesome the next one we have is my big green egg y'all seen the videos with it I use it all the time it's a ceramic cooker Manning holds heat awesome you can do anything with it and that takes us to our drum and this is a gateway drum you know I started out cooking on drum cookers that I built they were just basic refurbished drums that we put all the parts on but I wanted one a little bit fancier for when we go out and do comps and I ordered one from Gateway because they make them seamless they put these cool paint jobs on them they'll put your logo on them they're just a souped up drum but it was so nice that I didn't want to get it beat up on my comp trailer so I'm still hauling an old one around on it I'll show you that later and this one stays back here for me to do videos we great cooker drums are peg they're probably the easiest smoker you could get into but now talk about my money maker and this is my old hickory these started out as commercial smokers but they started developing for us comp guys these smaller units and they're practical if you're gonna do comps if you want some more capacity at home I can fire this dude up put 36 butts on it one time you talk about a lot of meat and I use it for a lot of videos too I mean it's a heck of a smoker and it's really sit and forget I mean you look at this thing it's like like your oven dials and I just turn it to whatever temp I want get my fire good and hot and it's ready to roll next on deck is one of my pellet grills this is one of the newer ones to me and it's a Trager Timberline I mean I love cooking on this thing you know I'm not biased I cook on pellet grills I cook on smokers grills it doesn't matter I want to cook on it also that's why I have so many pellet grills but the triger has been a phenomenal cooker so far everything I've cooked on it's been great now over in the corner I have another ceramic grill it's the calm and you know I can't turn the grill down and I have a problem I know my wife thinks I have too many but I use them all and that's kind of my thing so that's the reason why I have two ceramic grill in the Kong Hey it's great and you know it's it's kind of a ceramic grill on a budget for the money can't beat it my newest baby is this Memphis wood-fired pellet grill and you're gonna see some recipes coming up on it and you talk about like it's the dead I'm sports car pellet grills I've been playing with it firing up the control unit is awesome on it but I haven't done any videos yet that's coming you'll see on this fall but I'm really looking forward to cooking I mean look at the square footage on this pellet grill I mean it's got a huge cooking rack you can do all kinds of things with it too so I'm looking forward to coming up with some new stuff now I also have a couple more grills back here I mean can't get them all underneath my cooking area because I'm limited on space so what I have to do is kind of move them around as I need them and as other videos I don't really plan videos for specific grills it's just whatever I feel like that week and then you know I want to cook on them also because I know all y'all don't have them so out here I have my Yoda this is a go to 6:40 when I cook on it I roll it up under my little covered area there fire it right up it's another pellet grill and you know the others are built like tanks I'm going to keep a cover on anything that I don't have underneath my cover that way it's out of the elements Kollek suggest you do that if you don't have a covered area just get a cheap cover and put on a neck if I had to I put a tarp on it anything to protect them that's what saves that finish on these cookers I got a gasser over here I'm not gonna take it off because honestly I don't use it that much I mean gas grills are okay and I've done some recipes on it but if I can cook with fire wood pellets I'm probably not gonna be cooking with propane that's why I don't use it much I mean it stays covered up in case I need the rotisserie I really like that so I'm here in the driveway we've got our comp trailer and I've got it set up on the back of it it's a porch trailer 22 foot with little V nose on the back eight foot of this trailer I've got another old hickory this is the MM model it works just like my CTO just doesn't have the gas assist on it and then I've got one of these refurbished drums with the big papa kit and you can see man we go to war when we're cooking comps and so this drum gets beat up all this stuff and when you're going down the road you've got it packed full of stuff it gets scratched and dinged and that's why I don't have my Gateway on here it's about time to give this trailer a good good clean and get ready for our fall season we've had a little bit of time off here in July while it's hot but up front we've got just a couple beds as a sink and a prep area it's nothing fancy but this old red trailer it's got the job done we've had it for a lot of years and if I'm talking shell into it I'm upgrade sometime soon and since I'm showing you all of them might as well break out the backwoods - it stays in my garage most of the time but whenever I want to cook on a water smoker I just roll it right outside I'm throwing whole shoulders on it pork butts ribs for cooking on water smokers you're not gonna be too backwards so as you can see I have a smoker problem I mean these are all my babies and I love all of them you know and I've got a Jambo coming in the works this fall gotta have a stick burner so I'm looking forward to learning how to cook on one of those doing some videos with it I had new smokers all the time Jimmy Schell tells me I can't have any more but I don't always listen because I love them man I've got a smoke gives my life this is kind of just a little insight into what I do and the equipment stuff I use so thanks for checking out the video today I hope y'all enjoyed that tour of all my equipment my little cooking area we're gonna be putting out new videos all year long so y'all subscribe to the channel you can also find us on Facebook and Twitter we'll see y'all next time
