How & When to Use Do, Does and Did | Correct Use of Do / Does / Did - ChetChat English Grammar Tips

so do you know the correct usage of the words do does and did does anyone here know the difference between them and did your teacher teach you these terms correctly in school or did she confuse you so nobody's today we're going to do a really simple lesson and break down these terms for you so you'll never forget them let's get going hey this is Chetna and you're watching chit chat and today as part of our learn english playlist on popular request we're doing a video on grammar where we're decoding how you can use do does and did and i'm going to try to keep this really simple without using too many overly dramatic terms do does and did are all forms of the verb doodoo and if you look at the simple present tense then we're going to only use do and does so right now let's just talk about do and does for a moment if you were talking about he/she/it for example or Jack Jane or the car you would use the word does let me give you a few examples Jack does his homework every night and she does her exercises everyday and when you're talking about anybody else for example I you or even plural forms like we and they you would use the word do so for example I do a lot of work these days they do volunteer work on Sundays you do nothing at all we do our laundry on weekends Sarah and Jane do not like cats now Sarah and Jane together make up day and therefore we use the word do Sarah and Jane do not like cats notice how I brought in the negative not now the negatives of do and does are really simple it's do not and does not and they shortened to don't and doesn't it's nice to use these contractions when you're speaking but if you are writing a formal sort of project or an assignment make sure you write the full forms do not and does not now let's look at did did is used when we are talking in the past tense when something happened yesterday last night or last year we're going to use did and it becomes fairly simple because both do and does convert to did let's take some examples I did my assignment last night he did his homework on time the girls did ballet at school the car did not get cleaned yesterday notice that the negative of did is did not and when we are speaking it contract student so now that you understood the basics of do does and did why don't you put down some sentences with these words in the comment section below and I'm going to read them and tell you how good they were now do does and did are also helping verbs and they have many other uses so now we're going to talk about how we can use these words as questions or negatives now let's take a statement you study the question that you can make out of this is do you study and the negative will be you do not study or you don't study let's try another one he walks and the question that you can make out of it is does he walk now you're using does because it is he remember he she it and the negative that you can make out of it is he does not walk or he doesn't walk now notice what has happened to walk he walks but does he walk the S has gone off so when you use do does and did in a question form the main verb that forms part of the sentence like walk comes in it's simple natural form as walk not as walks let's take another example she loves dogs the question is does she love dogs now we're going to use does because it's she and notice what's happened to the loves she loves dogs does she love dogs negative is she does not love dogs or she doesn't love dogs now I'm going to give you a few more statements for you to practice questions and negative statements and put eat bread and in the past tense the question will be did he eat bread notice that there is no difference between the two statements except for the does and the it would be wrong to say did he ate bread it's going to be did he eat bread the verb is going to remain in its pure simple form they speak English this is the sentence now if I were to make a question in the present tense I would say do they speak English and I'm using do because it is they so do they speak English and if I were to make this question in the past tense I would say did they speak English so notice how nothing changes except the does and a did now I'm going to give you a few sentences right now for you to fill in the blanks and you're going to do that in the comment section below and by the end of the video I'm
