How to Use AI Generative Fill in Photoshop 2024 (& Generative Expand)

The new Adobe Photoshop 2024 includes the  game-changing AI generative filll and AI   generative expand features. Seriously this is the  most amazing and simple tool to use. Honestly it   will turn someone with zero Photoshop editing  skills into an absolute photo genius and it   only takes five minutes to learn and master this  new technology. I guarantee you'll be majorly   surprised with what you can come up with on your  existing photos. Easily remove unwanted objects   or add in new ones. Make the extent of your photo  wider or taller, completely change the landscape   and much more. Okay let's get started with the  Photoshop 2024 AI generative fill and expand.   First make sure you've got the download of the  Photoshop 2024 new update installed and you can   watch this video here to check out how to download  and use it for free also you no longer need to use   the Photoshop AI beta 2023 to access generative  AI once installed open up Photoshop 2024 AI   then open up a picture you want to work with so  here I have a photo of myself in the sunset in   Indonesia in the background you can see there's  many distracting things and also the extents of   the photo are not too wide as I'm quite close to  the edge of the photo down the bottom we have the   smart toolbar where it displays two existing  features called select subject and remove   background we won't go into that in this video  so let's move on to the generative AI features   and this will just be a concise getting started  guide we'll start with Photoshop 2024 generative   expand to do this click the crop tool come up to  the ratio and select 2x3 to give us a standard   photo size however it's back to front so tap  X to change that to landscape then we simply   grab the crop handles and pull it down until it  reaches the bottom and the top and now we have   the right size for that aspect ratio then just  simply click generative expand we won't put a   prompt in here and just tap generate it'll now go  ahead and do its thing and it will give you three   options which you can see over on the right  here so let's cycle between these three and   see which one works the best knowing that I'll be  using generative fill to get rid of some of these   distracting objects in the background alright  so I think this first one is the cleanest hey   remember to check out the AI video maker course  in the lasso tool either the magnetic lasso tool   or just a free latsu tool I want to remove all  of these people that are in the background of   the photo I'll start by lassoing around this  clump of people here and you can see once I've   finished my selection that the generative  fill tooltip comes up which you can read if   you like then I can just tap generative fill  and I won't put the prompt in here I'll just   use its own technology to work out that I want to  remove it anytime you're doing some generative AI   or other tasks in Photoshop you can now see  there's these tips up here which help guide   you with your journey of Photoshop skills and you  can see that's done an absolutely fantastic job of   removing the people from the photo and replacing  it with a similar background to what's around it   so generative fill is a really easy tool to  use and now I'll go ahead and speed this up   as I go through and select each of the different  clumps of people to remove them and allow it to   replace it with the background that's similar  to what was actually really there there that's   all done and you can see if I pull this toolbar  away the picture is now nice and clean with all   the people removed from the background and I've  got a nice Sunset sky behind me now I'm going to   use Photoshop 2024 generative fill width prompts  to add in some objects in the background that are   typical to this location so it's quite common  to have campfires out on the beach here in Bali   so I'll draw in a circle here type in campfire  and then allow it to generate and I can choose   between the three options again or I can choose  to generate once more if I'm not happy with any   of those outputs so I think this fire here looks  quite good next I might add in a flock of birds up   in the sky here to complement the sunset so I'll  draw a circle in this area roughly with the sky in   the background so they don't clash with the clouds  too much and then I'll type in flock of birds hit   generate and see what it comes up with again I'll  choose between the three different options and   I like the look of this one so we'll go with  that next thing I'll do is add in a small boat   in the background here that one looks good and  it's a bit there on this side so finally I'll   add in overhanging palm trees and generate that  I don't like any of these options here and this   one looks good but it appears to have some people  in the background there so I'm going to go ahead   and tap generate again to give me some more  generative fill options and this one here is   looking great that's the effect I want and you  can see it actually Blends quite well with the   sunset with a shadow behind it same as with the  boat perhaps those Shadows are a little bit dark   but I'm happy with this final composition and  here is the completed photo so these Photoshop   2024 generative AI features are so simple to use  and you can Master it in just a few
