*HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON* is an absolute gem!! (first time watching)

hey guys what's up welcome back to my channel i'm natalie and today we are watching how to train your dragon welcome back to my channel everyone thank you so much for being here and welcome if you're new today we are diving into a movie that i have actually wanted to watch for years when this movie first came out my sister and my mom had actually seen it and they were raving about it they loved it and for some reason i just never got around to it there are a lot of movies that people in my family would mention to me and i would just be so busy that i wouldn't find the time especially if tyler wasn't interested in watching it which tyler's normally interested in watching really moody dramas he's not ever in the mood to watch an animated movie with me so i just never got around to it and then when i started making reaction videos a lot of people on my patreon page actually suggested this one as a beloved film that they really were excited for me to watch so i'm even more excited to check this one out today than anything we've watched here in a long time i'm not necessarily a big fan of animated shows but when it comes to animated movies especially ones that are more family geared for some reason i get swept up in those ones a lot things like pixar disney dreamworks if they're really well done i love them so i'm really excited for this one today because i've heard such great things i have a feeling it'll probably make me cry because all movies like that tend to make me cry at some point just any movie in general i guess i don't really know that much about this movie i can assume that it'll probably deal with similar themes as a lot of films like this themes like love potentially loss and grief potentially identity i don't know but it's really all speculative because i have kind of avoided looking anything up about this film because i just want to be surprised i'm also really excited to be watching this movie today because i feel like it's going to open the door to a whole different genre of content here on my channel i have seen a lot of disney and pixar films there are a couple that i haven't seen but for the most part i have seen a lot of them but there are some that i haven't seen in so many years that just mean so much to me and i really do want to revisit a lot of them with you guys so i'm excited because i feel like this is a great movie to start off watching some animated content just from time to time i still want to watch some more critically acclaimed stuff that is live action and filmed because that's more of my bread and butter i love actors and obviously voice acting is still acting but it's a different kind of acting and i'm more familiar with just regular acting so i love watching actors work in that respect so i'm not going to completely say goodbye to any live-action content but i'm really excited to be branching out and to be watching more animated content as well i do want to keep this intro really short and sweet because this movie is pretty short and sweet and i'm really excited to jump on into it but real quick i just want to mention that for those that don't know i do have a patreon page i always link a snack and let's get into the movie it's been here for seven generations but every single building is new the only problems are the pests are the dragons the pests the sheep aren't even phased oh that's why every building is new they have to keep rebuilding their buildings my name's hiccup hiccup what a cute name i thought i heard the name hiccup i thought the hiccup was the name of the dragon oh oh is the knight fury the worst i bet a night fury is gonna be the dragon that hiccup trains or something i'm pretty sure he's gonna train the dragon cause he looks like the lead oh yep the slow-mo yup astrid he's got a crush on astrid uh-huh if you ever want to get out there to fight dragons you need to stop all this but you just pointed to all of me yes oh yep identity issues see i called it you just gotta get to the gym a little bit hiccup oh no there's one there's a night fairy oh god i'm impressed that all the dragons are working together right now no one has ever killed a night fury that's why i'm gonna be the first wow you have really set your sights high hiccup you're an overachiever huh where are you going hiccup i feel like he's gonna cause a big problem and it's gonna get worse before he does anything good he's gonna shoot the wrong thing he caught it no way did anybody see that oh no oh no and no one's gonna see that he caught the night fury what a bummer he actually caught it on the first try i can't believe it he's just fist fighting this dragon they still have teeth and there's one more thing you need to know that's his dad huh sorry dad yeah that's his dad yeah of course of course it's his dad gotta have daddy issues identity issues gotta discover who he needs to be you know and not let anybody tell him otherwise dad i mean i really actually hit it he did yeah he actually hit it it's not so much what you look like it's what's inside that he can't stand oh that's good that's better stop trying so hard to be something you're not oh yeah you got to be who you are you're not a you're not a killer but you are destined for greatness i'm sure if we find the nest and destroy it the dragons will leave those ships never come back oh no oh god what if they all die no who's with me i don't know they don't seem like they're in it with you those who stay will look after hiccups oh wow is he looking for the dragon that he thinks he caught because i swear he caught that dragon i you gotta go find it oh he is he's looking oh i'm so excited oh that's all he brought with him was a tiny knife you're not gonna kill it hiccup i have brought down this mighty beast oh it's just sleeping oh look at those knowing eyes no he doesn't want to kill it he doesn't want to kill it no don't kill it you're not going to oh oh here he goes oh boy oh boy oh he's like screw you dude don't do it again oh wait is he having trouble flying what's going on he doesn't want to do it anymore oh god no i can't kill dragons but you will kill no he won't no no listen listen no listen to your son talk like us think like us no he doesn't he thinks different he built different and that's okay i don't know why he wouldn't let hiccup back out of it considering he didn't want him to do it in the first place but it's because we need to have this moment where he's really bad at it and then he's really good at something else which is training dragons you know it's funny because she's just as scrawny and skinny as hiccup like wouldn't she have more muscles don't worry you're small and you're weak that'll make you less of a target uh he always tries to give him like reassuring insults deadly nada speed armor 16. oh is he like a dragon dork animal tac venom 12. he's using like gaming or like playing card lingo oh my god your most important piece of equipment is your shield oh he can't even pick it up one shot laughs get your shield hiccup oh my god he almost died oh god what a high-stakes teaching position a dragon will always go for the kill so why didn't you oh right because that dragon didn't kill him because you didn't kill him it's a two-way street he wanted to say you but he didn't want to kill you are those scales oh no can he not fly oh he's injured he was struggling to fly when he let him loose why don't you just fly away he you heard him when you trapped him oh it's his tail his tail is what got injured oh they're gonna be friends it's just gonna take a little while extremely dangerous kill on site everything's gonna say kill on sight the skrill bone napper bone napper that one looks gnarly there's nothing about the night fury oh the unholy offspring of lightning and death itself the unholy offspring i like how he caught the most dangerous dragon oh hiccup god you gotta do some push-ups or something man well done astrid our parents war is about to become ours figure out which side you're on i mean to be fair she really is the only one taking dragon training seriously they're all so lacks about it there it is oh no looks like it's hunting you hiccup oh boy here you go dragon dragon here oh it's okay oh it sensed the knife oh oh he just dunked it in the water oh oh my god he's so cute he instantly his eyes got bigger like a little puppy toothless oh there's his teeth he can hide his teeth whoa his eyes go from like being a puppy to like being a snake he's gonna vomit on him oh wait he didn't like it i guess that's just how he eats oh he's supposed to eat it oh that's disgusting uh ah he's like mimington this dragon is smart this is so cute even in a cartoon i can't handle this this is so nasty is he trying to smile he's trying to mimic the smile that looks kind of horrifying no i love him he's so cute who's gonna mimic him with the tree branch that is so cute oh my god this is so adorable [Laughter] oh my god i'm gonna cry over this dragon i can already tell oh he doesn't like that you stepped on it yeah respect is drawing he's so moody he's like don't you step on my drawing stay inside the lines oh yeah let him come to you oh oh that is so cute ah if it can't fly it can't get away a downed dragon is a dead dragon oh yeah now he's gonna feel guilty and he's gonna try to go fix his tail he's already gone astrid is astrid gonna follow him oh no oh she's not she's not okay okay good i don't think astrid would get it yet she might later they might become friends later but not right now oh right and he's a welder and a blacksmith so he could actually make something it's all coming together i just don't know how you're gonna get it on the dragon's tail you still gotta i think work up to earn its trust a bit more i don't know if sneaking up on him is a good tactic he can't do this with horses either horses have to know where you are at all times if you sneak up behind them you might get kicked this isn't going to go well he hasn't noticed yet i'm surprised he's so you're about to run out of fish though dude uh-oh he noticed did he realize what's oh he's going to be on him and he's gonna start to fly oh no hiccup get off hiccup hiccup get off you're going for a ride man oh it's not staying open oh oh it's not staying open he has to hold it open it's that's really cool but also like hello this is how he's going to train a dragon because he's going to be able to control the direction today is about teamwork teamwork yes teamwork makes the dream work get it dreamworks yes it didn't even reach him oh my god heck up back he's taming him he just tamed the dragon see you tomorrow ah now astrid's noticing him haha oh my god i love it he's coming into his calling this is great oh he's rolling in the ah oh this is so cute oh this is so cute see he's oh my god he's learning about what dragons like and don't like this is so cute i love this and he's like oh i gotta go i gotta go i can't talk about it i don't have time to talk about it a laser pointer he's playing with a laser pointer ah oh he's sneaking the dragon into the village dude this is risky i know that it's like a night fury or whatever but still sheesh wow he's really earned that dragon's trust oh no did they they lost a bunch of their men didn't they is his dad okay his dad's still alive but i'm sure they lost a bunch of men so it's gonna be more key they're probably going to think they need more dragon killers congratulations stoic everyone it's so relieved village is throwing a party to celebrate throwing a party because hiccup is different now i mean the life of a celebrity is very rough the life of a celebrity he has this way with the beasts yeah but his way is a little different than tradition would want so we're still gonna have an issue later in this movie but i love this seems risky to be flying around in the daytime like this you can't go anywhere near the village oh the music for this is so beautiful you've gotta kind of angle yourself this is so high stakes oh no get it grab it come on oh my god he's lucky oh yeah throw away the cheat sheet throw away the cheat sheet oh boy oh this is awesome i love it oh this is so cute oh this is so beautiful i'm gonna cry [Music] come on that's so fireproof on the inside are you he's gonna start training other dragons now i thought you're not supposed to feed wild animals oh this one loves you oh my gosh instant he didn't need much working up at all everything we know about you guys it's wrong yeah and you're gonna have a really hard time convincing your family aren't you it's gonna take probably the whole movie just wait till you spill a nadder's gut for the first time he hasn't killed a single dragon who thinks he killed a dragon he's only been trapping them and taming them odin it was ralph thoro matey odin and thor oh my god he's mentioning all the norse gods i would only know that cause of thor we finally have something to talk about oh oh this is heartbreaking ah your mother would have wanted you to have uh what happened to his mother we didn't talk about that huh i'll laugh yup good night oh i got a lot of work to do [Music] oh my god she really hates him i feel like she's gonna be the one who figures out about toothless and rats on him because she hates him she's got the motive oh the elder decides the one old woman gets to decide oh he doesn't want to kill a dragon he doesn't want to kill it he doesn't want to kill it i don't oh i am so leaving we're leaving no oh he's gonna come defend hiccup oh no she's a friend oh she's not gonna like this oh no she's gonna run back and tell the village oh yep you gotta pick her up exactly yeah you gotta make sure oh oh you're gonna threaten her like this ah what just let me show you i'm surprised this tree hasn't broken down gently he's not gonna be he's not gonna be gentle oh toothless is gonna fly kind of crazy yep i love this i love toothless she might like this she's kind of a adrenaline person she's apologizing oh look see it's working oh the dra this dragon is so smart oh now it's a romantic ride with the music shift that's brilliant oh oh this is so pretty oh i love this oh now we just went into the night time oh and there's the aurora borealis are you kidding me i would cry if this was a real thing that could actually happen i would die this would be number one item on my bucket list right here toothless is smart he's smart dragon he knows exactly what he's doing he's putting him work for hiccup here you know you're gonna have to kill yeah toothless speaks english you dummies he knows okay oh oh no toothless just realized that there are other dragons around looks like they're hauling in their kill oh no to like a big mother dragon this is horrifying oh god oh toothless where are you taking these guys this is horrible oh no what kind of dragon is in here [Music] nope you're screwed you didn't bring a good gift oh my god that is a massive dragon we just discovered the dragon's nest the thing we've been after since vikings first sailed here she still doesn't get it she still doesn't get it the dragons are good are you serious yes okay oh wow she wow she agreed i'm really happy that she's cooperating right now i really did not think she was going to cooperate at all that's for everything else she's starting to like him it was like a whole new world you know the magic carpet ride what are you looking at today my boy becomes a viking he can't do it he's not gonna kill the dragon is he just gonna flee like what is he gonna do oh no this is the moment where he's gonna disappoint the whole town but at least he has astrid now on his side that's good we gotta have you know the hero's demise so that he can that he can pull himself back out of it again and show him how good dragons are oh what a fun one that's a good one that to get oh my god this cage is really reminding me of the thunderdome and mad max i'm only familiar with that because i've gone to burning man i'm not one of them i need you all to see this oh he's gonna show em all i said stop the you're gonna ruin it you ruined it dad you ruined it toothless oh toothless oh toothless is gonna get in trouble though oh he's running oh i love him i love him he has a little dragon sense toothless oh no they're all going to want to hurt his dragon aren't they oh climb on his back climb on his back quick hiccup oh no this is so bad no stop stop oh this is gonna break my heart this is horrible get nobody will listen to him that's what you're worried about not the people you almost killed you he didn't do anything that was all you it's cause you yelled like yelling at when a kid falls in a cage and an animal at a zoo like you don't yell at the animal there's something else on their island dad it's it's a dragon like an island only a dragon can find the island oh no no no dad no oh wow he won't listen for what's in your life would you please just listen to me you never listen to your son it's horrible no wonder you guys don't have a good relationship you're not a fake he's better than a viking man oh my son oh damn how is he gonna find how does he think he's gonna find this thing maybe if you let your son speak and you actually listen to things he had to say it would go a little bit easier for you no no no oh i hate this i hate this i hate this i hate this this is absolutely horrible this is so cruel how's he gonna get him out of this i feel heartbroken right now this is horrible 300 years and i'm the first viking who wouldn't kill a dragon first to ride one though yeah he needs this pep talk right now what are you gonna do about it probably something stupid good but you've already done that then something crazy that's more like it all right good good we're going after him he's got to recruit all these kids that used to hate him and they now respect him it's good it's the next generation oh he's going to teach them all how to ride the dragons that are currently locked up here oh my god it's a shame that he had to take toothless but it is more emotional that way he really has earned the trust of dragons so quickly oh my god they all are just like sure get us to these kids who used to beat us and chase us with axes that's fine oh you guys are so stupid this is such a bad idea they think that they're just facing off with all these little dragons when in reality it's not about these guys at all they don't want to fight you uh-uh oh poor toothless is stuck here oh no we've done it no no no no yeah if you'd only spoken to your son he could have told you that this dragon was far too large for any of you this honestly looks like like an actual just a dinosaur not even like a dragon this looks like a freaking triceratops mixed with godzilla toothless do this oh my how is that full oh my god they gotta get yeah you were a fool you dummy oh my god quickly hiccup hurry up yes yes finally jeez noticing your son in his natural element yes hold on hold on oh my god i hope his dad is going to come in and help because like hiccup is kind of weak and that would be a beautiful father-son bonding moment oh no oh no no no no no no no no no oh no hurry up pick up come on use all the strength you have buddy oh no no no no hiccup no no get toothless this is dad gonna save toothless his dad's gonna save toothless oh his dad is gonna oh oh it's dancing toothless oh my god i love it oh my god i'm proud to call you my son oh my god we have just enough time for this meaningful message despite the life and death situation around us oh my god they all saved each other ah it's surprising that even though this dragon is like the queen all the dragons are able to help in an attack against it you think that they wouldn't be able to but for the sake of the movie i guess it makes sense oh no oh no she getting sucked in [Laughter] i love toothless toothless is the cutest thing ever oh my god oh it's totally gonna be toothless versus this big dragon oh my god i love this oh we're gonna make it fly huh yep probably hasn't flown in a really long time though it's gotten a little lazy and fat oh my god oh my god he's gonna be the biggest celebrity he already was but he's going to be even more famous now oh boy oh my god this is terrifying to have this thing on your tail oh to go into the darkness cause right because the darkest is camouflage i love this yes oh they're gonna make him dive into the water yeah oh wow he oh my god right because they're not fireproof on the inside oh you guys are a little close to the explosion i feel like that would have maybe impacted you a bit more oh no no no no no no they're gonna be fine but i'm emotionally invested he's fine he's fine he's underneath him i'm sure he went uh he probably went into the flames because the dragon isn't affected by flames on the outside so that's probably he was protecting him no it's fine guys just lift up toothless's wing it's okay we don't need to have this sentimental moment i know it's beautiful or whatever but i don't need to cry anymore hiccup thank you for saving my son well you know most of them what did he lose a part of himself did he lose a limb is toothless or is hiccup missing a limb why is his name hiccup it's such a weird name for a person it sounds like a pet name how funny would it be if he's missing a leg it would be fitting for his dragon you're in my house yeah he's in your house like a pet oh i love it yeah he's your pet dragon yep who's got an emotional support dragon or a service dragon ah oh my god i love this you guys oh oh i love this i'm gonna cry oh my god again more than i already am welcome home what is that oh is that for him oh it's a new it's a new tail oh that's a cool looking tail i like it the only upsides are the pets we have dragons oh that is so sweet i love it i'm sorry for all the screaming and awning constantly but movies like this really do hit me in the heart movies like this just contain a lot of themes that really hit you in the heart this one dealt with identity and discovering who you really are and learning to embrace that and family issues that everybody has also just animals which i love even if they're mythical and non-existent um yeah oh my god the toothless dragon was so cute i loved the art style for him and i loved the way they changed his eyes depending on how he was feeling being able to see his pupils literally change was so cool and so adorable the music score was really effective as well really beautiful definitely invoked a lot of emotion in me at the right moments i think there's a lot of spin-offs as well um or at least sequels to this series at least one that i've seen and um i noticed that there were a couple more on netflix it's weird because the original is not on netflix but then there's all these other how to train your dragon things on netflix when i was looking to watch this movie so you guys let me know down in the comments below if it's worth watching the sequel or not it might be a trilogy as well some people might have said that on patreon but i can't really remember because again i like to avoid looking stuff up when i'm signing up to watch these things for fear of spoilers so if you think it's worth it to watch the rest of the movies in this series let me know because they're short and they're light-hearted and they're sweet and uh i definitely would not get sick of watching stuff like this from time to time but that's
