How to Setup Your Gaming Stream - Blackmagic ATEM MINI PRO ISO

if you're looking for an ideal partner for your live streams on YouTube twitch Facebook Skype or loads more multicamera support picture in picture and not to mention all the other features this hardware and software is definitely for you and will definitely help you out now I haven't entered this segment of tech on my channel but I wanted to do this video just to help you guys with live streams and give you some options that will definitely boost up the let's say workflow and work and relieve the workload of editing and doing all together when creating Such live stream so today we'll Deep dive into the uh Blackmagic design atam mini pro ISO and we're going to take a look at its features design and everything that uh you have to know basically to understand how it works and how to use it now there are four pointed out features that at Mini Pro ISO has that will Intrigue you you can connect up to four cameras or computers you can live stream directly via Ethernet cable connected also record uh to USB flash drive in h264 and USB output as it operates as a webcam for all video software but of course that is not all this is just the tip of the iberg because when we dive into ATM mini pro ISO let's just say it won't be a short video right in addition to that it includes free at software control panel application which unlocks the full potential of the ATM mini pro that gives you an access to every features in this switcher Now quickly to go to the ATM software control panel you have an option to adjust the switcher settings make live Cuts adjust Keys apply transitions overlay graphics and loads of other cool options then you can manage media and Graphics where you can upload 20 rgba still image graphic files that can be used for titles bugs lower turs and more then we have live audio with EQ and Dynamics which brings up a professional 12 channel Fair light audio mixer with fad six band equalizer compressor limiter and others finally we get to the control and color match cameras where you can remote control your cameras which include camera settings and color balance now St at the beginning I want to say there is no onoff switch right so what you do is basically you plug it in and plug it out with your power cord that's all that is to it but we have loads of other connections that we need to go through so to give you some idea on how to connect each of those and what they actually do right before we go into the connections the most important question would be the difference between the ATM mini pro and ATM mini pro ISO well the difference is that the mini pro ISO can record all of its HDMI and audio inputs individually along with the combined signal this way you can go back to the videos and re-edit them change which cameras you selected at which time or simply use more advanced transitions audio mixing composition and other features I always like to start the video as already said with some visual presentations of the product and what you have here in those terms let's start with the connection part and at the back from left to right we have the power connector then we have the RJ45 port for connecting your ethernet cable to the at Mini Pro ISO and to the same network as your computer or Mac for loads of options and we'll get to that part of course USB out to be used uh for either directly recording to the USB flash drive or using it as webcam in the ATM software control HDM out which is used for video output to see what you're recording or doing in the video like a small screen such as I have right here and then we have four HDMI inputs for connection various uh compatible cameras and finally we have the microphone 2 and microphone one and I'm mentioning him in this way because I said we're going from from left to right uh for connecting two microphones uh most likely for podcasting or similar live streams the amount of buttons on the ATM mini pro ISO shouldn't scare you because they are are all very simple to understand when you get a hang of it it's something like starting to type on your keyboard regular keyboard for the first time you do need to get a hang of it to be able to type without even checking the keyboard but this little switcher is such a nice piece of Hardware because it gives you an option to switch through cameras you have the possibility to create transitions you have the possibility to choose the transitions length of the transitions uh mix dip uh doing all the stuff and of course adjusting the microphones adjusting picture in picture and all the other stuff but let's get to it and explain all the buttons that we have right here so we have buttons that are indicated with 1 2 3 and four which are used for switching between four inputs next to those we have black and still Source buttons last three large buttons in the same row are cut mode auto mode fate to Black above each of the source buttons you have HDMI audio controls and in the top left corner you have your analog audio control for microphone 1 and microphone 2 above the cut button you have four smaller buttons which are transition duration presents with durations of 0.5 1 1.5 and 2 seconds six small buttons above the transition duration presents are picture in picture presents for the location of the smaller screen and two are for turning on or off the dve on the right to those six buttons we have two more which are key on and off and in the same row we have indication status for the disc record or stop on air button and off for the stream above the auto mode we have six more buttons for the transition selection and above the Fade to Black six more which are for multiview and HDMI outputs now let's start with configuring the switcher first of all what you're going to do is obvious connect the power on then I'm going to connect my main camera here recording me straight to the face and uh place it in HDMI 1 then next that I'm going to connect the ethernet cable to the RJ45 Port which will automatically be detected on my local network because my PC is on the same network and automatically the a0 software control will instantly recognize the ATM mini pro ISO in the application uh if for some strange reason this doesn't happen you can always go to your router settings and check for the IP address and do it manually but if you have everything on the same network there won't be a problem because it instantly recognized it in the application which is really good and I do have to say really kind of releases uh the pressure of additional configuration uh with this uh type of device so as I already stated it's really straightforward and you don't have to worry about any of those after that you go to uh the black magic design official website and download ATM switcher software in the ATM software control you have four tabs and even though um I went through them quite quickly earlier we have a switcher tab then media audio and Camera before going further with the configuration select the number one where you connected your main camera to continue with the configuration we head over to the switcher Tab and then click uh on output where you can choose the platform which I'm going to go obviously with YouTube uh choose primary for the server and then the key the key can be found if you click on the create tab in your YouTube channel choose live select stream and then under stream settings you have the stream key where it actually says in the brackets that you should paste it in your encoder also you can choose the quality of the streaming and finally Press On Air last thing to do is pressing the go live button on the top right corner on the at Mini Pro ISO the button on the switcher with the indication on air is the same Button as the one stated in the software so next time you want to go live on the same channel you just have to press the button on the switcher and in the YouTube you have to press go live button easy as that there's also a feature in the YouTube Studio where you have the option to enable auto start which means that it will automatically start broadcasting immediately when you press on air button on the at Mini Pro ISO there's another solution and a simple one for live streaming is the USB out or USB type-c connection to your computer so that you can use it as a webcam that way in the YouTube Studio instead of clicking on the stream you can click on web web cam in the webcam stream info you have more options when you click you go down a bit you can see the camera and microphone selection where you can select the at Mini Pro ISO this way it is taking the feed from the at Mini Pro ISO through the USBC input and you can now just go live with the same way with the other inputs this also implies for Skype by just selecting 18 mini pro ISO and you're good to go now the next thing I wanted to show you is how the keyboard how the Switcher actually functions when uh pressing everything here all the buttons so for instance I have my Autos here connected right and it's really straightforward there's no complications and this is what I was telling you about uh when starting to learn your basic keyboard for your PC right it's really straightforward so for instance let's start with the camera switching right so this is what you can do you're pressing one two and it automatically adjusted my main camera is Black Magic cscap Pro right and when I press one since that camera is connected to the number one it has the red LED indication light that it's recording immediately when I press the number two which is switching to my other camera right here uh it uh basically turns into some yellowish or orange color so this gives me an indication that this camera isn't the main that it's recording even though it still is uh it's not showing in the live stream which now we have this one right here right now of course we have here the microphone adjustment for onof or whatever you can connect it uh with 3.5 mm Jacks at the back and then we go picture in picture now this is really cool because for instance your um I don't know recording uh some uh FPS games Battle Royale or something similar to that or Sim racing now for Sim racing this would be insane and why I'm saying this and I'll show you because for instance One camera is recording your face and your steering wheel in one picture right the second camera is recording your feet and pedals and the third camera is recording directly the steering wheel and how you actually steer right so picture in picture starts like this here we go oh I have to turn it on sorry so you have a button on or off for picture and picture if you switch it off it automatically removes itself from the main uh camera now I really want to see this so we're turning it on here we go I I have the second picture this one as a smaller one staying right here the cool thing about it is that you can adjust the corner where you want it to be shown so for instance it's uh switching automatically without any delay and this is really cool because in your live streams you would have some sort of I don't know additional chats or whatever and you can adjust it really on the go it's really fast responsive there's no problem with that now if you want to for instance do the transition right so here we go as you can see when we go into transition right you press the AO one which gives you the ability to switch through the effect so for instance I wanted to go with swipe and it kind of goes quite nicely I do have to admit then with the duration you can fasten it up a bit which goes much quicker and if you want to go with 2 second long it kind of makes it a nice easier transition of course you can adjust uh the transition to do what whatever you wish from up to down and everything else let's go here we go and the fourth one which is kind of really cool and let's see with the mix fade fade in and you have the dip option as well and of course F to Black when you press it it's kind of really good to use it at the end of the stream so there's that really outstanding features that you could do here and I let's see something else I'm going to turn on so this is picture in picture right I'm choosing the second one turning on and let's see if I switch to this it turns off the picture in picture so you can have a really cool composition uh of your video with this one for instance you have picture in picture right you wanted to show uh the second this so this is the main camera and I'm going to go with this one with this one as the secondary camera with a smaller screen right so I wanted to switch and when I do that it automatically switchs off the picture the smaller picture in the frame this gives you an option to easily um let's say switch and you don't have to have that second smaller picture right because for instance in Sim racing you'll have the smaller picture for your feet and the pedals uh you'll have the smaller picture for uh steering wheel if you desire to do so and this gives you an option to if you really want to focus and you're ending the stream right you want to focus on yourself in the video this gives you an option to remove that picture and automatically just focus on you because there's no point in um adding the video for the steering wheel since you're not driving you're ending your live stream and similar stuff like that and uh that would be it of course here we have something else with 1 2 3 4 additional buttons these are smaller buttons which brings us to the point where pressing each of these will fixate the camera that is under for instance I press number one that is number one so when I press number two it doesn't switch here right it stays number one so what you have to do is press the PGM button which will give you the ability to switch through those buttons and you have multiv view which is also outstanding because for instance you have four cameras and uh let's see if I can remove this bottom part right here you have multiple cameras I have here two you have you have the possibility to switch one 2 3 4 when doing that what you have here is an option to have the preview the program camera 1 23 4 Media Player 1 and you have the ability to check out the microphone connection because you have two microphones individually that you can connect and this gives you an option to uh basically see the indication and the bar raised for the decibel level and of course individual for each camera so you can synchronize the microphone to this camera to this camera with this microphone and everything else the one thing that I do have to say is this is a really cool switcher right it really brings this U gives us an ability to switch through cameras do wonders with it especially with the transitions already here and it's really outstanding uh I know some of you guys might be using a XLR microphones and uh this would be a bit um Out Of Reach when we're talking about the size of this switch the at Mini Pro ISO to bring the XLR connection here as well this way you'll have the XLR microphone connected to something else like I have it on Scarlet 2 I2 and uh you'll have an individual track for your audio if you desire to connect it here it will automatically synchronize and this is really really outstanding now when I connect the USB type-c SSD right and I definitely suggest using brands that have those external ssds that don't heat up for instance I said that couple of times in my SSD reviews when using an SSD on my Black Magic Camera the SSD tends to heat up but if you're using them from a well-known brand that can do a proper external SSD uh the heating up won't create a problem while throttling the SSD so my initial problem was with the Blackmagic camera that I used an SSD that um I had FPS drops now I would suggest doing the same thing here as well and in automatically starts recording and you have everything here right on top of your fingers of course the cables are here and you do need to reorganize them but I've seen loads of streaming setups and the cables are everywhere which for me personally I wouldn't tolerate but for instance if you do place this uh 18 mini pro ISO in a proper position where it gives you an option to switch seemingless Le without anybody noticing anything and that is possible don't get me wrong that is possible because streamers if you can chat and do all the other stuff you can easily uh switch the cameras just by a press of a button and transition transitions are here recording automatic and everything else this is outstanding and it kind of does help you guys with live streams uh basically on anything so yeah guys this is it uh thanks for watching today's video hope it
