How to setup a decent looking Stream in OBS // #obs #streaming #tutorial

what is good everyone today I'm going to show you guys how you can make a goodlook stream like mine if you ever seen my streams they look pretty sick and lots of people ask me why on Discord so here's how to do it first you're going to go to OBS project.com download I'll link in the description you just look up OBS download and work you want to download the installer you can also download this through the Microsoft store don't recommend it cuz you know it's the Microsoft store no one likes it you want to run that install that and run it it's going to be in your downloads folder go ahead and do that I'm not going to just so I don't mess up mine so let's go on from there second you're going to go to Kudos dotv they have free overlays that you can use for any streaming and it works really well so you want to go to store I'll link it of course all the way to freebies in the description and you can see all of these right here they have all sorts of custom made animated and non animated for those who want to be lame all sorts of animated and unanimated bundles that you can use on your streams for this we're going to be using the flow I have this one uh installed I'm not going to actually using I just lied I'm sorry you'll add it to your C you'll pay through it um I'm not going to you do need to enter like address and stuff you can enter a fake address of course just make sure it's the right email address and you will be able to download it second if you're on Kick I recommend you use bot rcks if you're not on Kick there's probably a few other Bots that work better so let's go on from there once you open up OBS this is pretty much what you're going to be seeing I do have a different um theme on so mine may look a tad bit different if you want to change your theme you'll go to settings it's just right here as you can see Y is default so we'll use it now first of all to set up everything I recommend you drag your sources right here it will help big time with getting everything set and organized so to start out you're want to go to the file where you have all of them probably to be in your downloads zipped up I have mine right here as you can see there's a start here there's a quick install and then there's individual files if you want to do it the bad bit harder way and you'll have to do bit more steps you can just do it with this start here and it's going to show you how to install it's going to give you a font that you can use I actually didn't know about that and then it's going to guide you here or us we're using OBS studio and you can use the dot Json I'll show you guys that later for now we're going to do it the way I recommend you do it individual files these have every file that you need for everything they have all your alerts your icons I'm not going to go into another one has your offline and your transition ition file headers webcam everything right in here all right what you're going to do go to OBS and you're going to add scenes scenes is the default box right down here first you're going to name one starting add another sorry I still have the custom Stinger on you'll add starting main inter turn Mission BRB and ending add all those and you'll be set to go make sure you delete the scene one you won't be needing it so under starting you're going to press the plus button and sources if you did drag it up good for you if you didn't you can still do this stuff anyways it's just going to be right here so you're going to press it what you're going to do you're going to add a group all this media this it's going to be housing all your media usually it's going to be just one or two but I always recommend you organize everything it I didn't it whenever I first started and it just made it living hell then you're going to add a media Source this is going to be called starting soon overlay technically it's not an overlay it's a screen but calling it overlay kind of makes sense cuz it's overlaying the stream click Loop and then you're going to browse your file for me it's going to be under Desktop Nexus animated and for starting soon you can go to screens and then find the starting soon screen just right here make sure you always turn on Loop or any of these or else it's not going to Loop and it's just going to pause once it reaches the very end and turn black drag drop that into there the reason I ask for you to put everything into folders depending on what they are is if you ever want to add overlays like say if you want follower alerts on here and a music thing I could show you how to add a music thing if you guys smash the like button or something I don't care if you need a tutorial on that hit me up but if you do add music what you'll do application audio capture name this Spotify starting make sure you title it as starting that way you you know it's your starting so if you ever want the BRB the ending or even the intermission to have the same audio levels cuz you're not going to have the same Audio Level at max volume for your main scene of course it's kind of dumb it just kind of makes things simple now always make sure you have window match priority to same executable so if I were to play a different song through here it won't be the same technical title so having it as the same executable will make make sure it's the Spotify exe sorry my dog just did something now while we're right here I recommend you go to scene transitions uh you won't see this multiple output I didn't know how to get rid of that so don't mind that at all under scene transitions here and press plus press Stinger you name this custom transition now you're going to browse this is going to be under others it's your transition always set the transition point to about 1,000 or a second because if it's zero it's not going to look right uh what it does it will since it fades out and in it's going to just immediately switch and then start fading and it's going to look really bad okay for your main you usually you're going to add about four to five folders one's going to be called your captures one's going to be called again your media this can be your overlays oh never mind I didn't know it did that my bad um you're going to want overlays audio and browsers you'll see why it's called browsers in a few minutes under your captures you can click on it it won't add it to there but I like clicking on it you want to add a display capture you can keep this as display capture drag that drop drag drop that in drag that drop all right and then game capture for your game capture I recommend having it as a specific window if you're constantly like say you don't know what game you're going to be playing until you start streaming how it do specific so then all you do is click on this not this this and you get to pick what you uh want to pick say if you're playing valerant you'll pick valerant and full screen I recommend having display capture above it just because it helps I'm going to turn it off so there's not an infinite little Echo right there so you can just click that you won't be needing that anymore under overl there's kind of two different types there's the browser overlays which are things from your stream like your chat overlay alerts those could be considered overlays since they are overlaying your screen but for now it's going to be the media source and image overlays the reason I say media source is cuz it's going to be a video so we're going to have our webcam overlay make sure you click Loop if it's a video this going to be under overlays as you can see webcam and there you go this is the one I'm currently using which is why I'm using it for this say if you play valerin a lot you could put it right here and it could be your map cover problem solved I wouldn't recommend having it this big cuz then it just blocks out a lot of the screen and it just doesn't look nice okay you can also add in any other video thing that you want so if we want to add the header overlay the header overlay would be this it kind of just goes on the top of your stream and you put info like commands whatever you want out there I used to do this but I didn't really care for it after a while cuz it just didn't make sense to me but any sort of video overlay is a media source and then of course images would be image you can browse through your images I don't think there is any say if you want to add the Discord icon and tell people to join the Discord using a text Source like this join the Discord then you can do that which would be a great time for you to join the Discord got him but you could do something like that if you wanted everything goes now for text you could have it in a separate one but I recommend kind of grouping it what it's next to uh I actually did my join the Discord thing in a different way if you look above my webcam about right here you'll see that it does pop up on my socials I can also show you guys how to do that eventually but not in this tutorial I want to make this sweet and simple now for your audio there's three different audio sources there's an audio output this goes to your headphones okay if you have headphones headset earbuds airpods doesn't matter whatever your headphones are for me it would be the highdefinition audio device it will connect to that whatever your audio is outputting to say if I were to output something to one of my monitors for my monitor speakers to come in use it will detect whatever dra through that said monitor or that said audio Source now these are good for games that have voice chat and say if you want to have music in the background go ahead you needan to have music in the background just make sure it's kind of low or it is rather loud there is a audio input capture this will be your mic your microphone set this to whatever default mic you're using for me it's the one right in front of my face it's my mic it's a jlab five not not a five a jlab Togo microphone I don't recommend it it's not worth $40 I wasted my money regret it uh for audio things down here in the audio mixer you'll have your DB is right here controls how loud it can cap out at or how much it will take off the bar is how loud it is so if I talk really loud it cut out if it Peaks into the red like it just said on my screen it peaked red and it might have cut out right there you never want it peeking red if you're never peeking say if you can't peek into yellow you can press filters add and you'll add gain to it gain makes it louder with a poor quality uh I used to have gain because I didn't have a mic arm if you do have a mic arm and you can have your mic close enough you don't need to add much game I also recommend under filters adding noise suppression why cuz it's noise suppression it helps why can't you hear most my clicking whenever I'm not talking cuz a noise suppression you got it then there's one more audio Source called application audio capture the name is kind of in it captures one app so say if I wanted to capture valerant valerant would be under here there one warning with this though it does not capture in-game voice chats so be aware of that you won't hear any voice coms that's why for most games I use the uh headphone capture right here outputs so of course if we turn this on going show all that um I'll go through and tell you what all these are browser it's going to connect to any link color Source it's just going to be a cube with a color it's it's just a color hate it display capture just captures a full on display game capture will capture a specific game usually it's full screen applications for better results image slideshow you look above my webcam on the recording right right like right there that's a image slideshow I have made images I can show you how to do that in a later tutorial as well it's all images controlled by BS to make everything look nice input overlay that is through a plugin if you guys would like that I can also show that in another tutorial media Source video files scene you probably won't be doing this unless you're adding an instant replay which is why you see replay buffer right here on mine a few things do look different cuz I have plugins um Source clone that is also another plugin thing I haven't configured anything with that yet so I don't know what it does text just on screen text video capture device this going to be for webcams say if I wanted to add my mouse C which is bugged out right now congratulations y'all don't get to see it why is it bugged cuz it's the shitty webcam and then of course there's window capture window capture will capture specific window I used to have it capture Spotify it was very nice but as you can see it doesn't want to connect to that for some reason so we just turn that off and then there's groups I don't know what this text freestyle to to is I've never used it you probably won't either now under animation you're going to go to Media source and this one's going to be intermission overlay this one is a fullon overlay cuz it overlays your screen congratulations that's how life works something will overlay it this one's actually under screens as well usually it is me intermission I don't think every pack that Kudos TV has comes with this just so you know um but you would put your webcam here and your chat goes here if you want you can put your game above chat or game here and webcam above chat it's all up to you you can figure it how you want so of course you'd add a video capture this will be my USB camera it's right there as you can see it's not working and I don't know why to be perfectly honest probably because they're already being used which I didn't think about that but yeah they're being used for my own scene I'm sorry uh you wouldn't add too much here if you want to add your social thing that I have right here you can add it but you don't know how to make kit so jokes on you you can't okay so webcam there chat there I'll show you how to add chat in a minute to be right back this is going to be the same thing it's a BRB overlay Loop make sure you always check that loop it's just BRB be right back uh usually you'll have music for this one so you'd add the Spotify from starting that way it's the same audio levels if I were to play music it'd be max volume it's max volume is best um for ending it is once again the same exact thing it's just lot of rins and repeats here just with different buttons ending over overlay I don't care how well I type I don't know why backspaced this one will say that you're ending okay it's simple easy now how to add on screen chats we're going to go to our main as you can see the transition worked right there what is a browser Source how do I use a browser Source he okay so this one's going to be chat right chat and as you can see it has a link if you were to open up in a browser it's just this see now for this it's usually going to be inside of your Bot whatever streaming bot you're using I use B rck and it's right here under widgets and you go to chat now I'm not going to copy paste this cuz this will reveal my stream key that's why they say don't share this to anyone but what you do you'll configure this however you want on whatever platform you are you'll paste it in right there then send a ton of chat messages for you to test with you just kind of drag drop uh a shortcut for your keyboard if you hold down alt as you can see alt is your crop key of course you just up the size and everything since it is a browser Source on you can do custom CSS and you can change the height and everything what you will do this with all the browser sources are for your chat alerts uh follow goals sub goal things anything that you will find under here and your Bot settings for me it's bot rcks like I just said your spectator counter subathon follow goals all of this are usually on screen overlays except for activity feed let me show you how this one works so the activity feed actually goes into obs you'll go to docs custom browser Doc and name it activity beat I already have it right here so of course I'm not going to do it then you just paste in said link apply and it's going to pop up it will naturally pop up like this right in the middle I have mine usually right there mine's bugged out right now and I don't know why but that's you usually how you'll have it this will somehow I don't know how automatically connect to your account so it knows it's you um for chat you would do the exact same thing well actually not exact same thing it's a bit different you will go to your streaming Source you'll go to Creator dashboard you'll find this pop out chat you will copy the link and you will add that as your um doc link as you can see I already have it I put mine right next to here I accidentally messed with it while I was resetting the scene a few minutes ago for some reason I'm getting this popup from cloud FL I use cloud flare DS servers so that's probably why recommend you always have your chat you can do it anyway with twitch it's just your pop out chat okay that's pretty much it in OBS scenes if you want to add go back I told you guys what all of these do and what all of them are told you how to add custom docks if you ever want to change a fullon scene without deleting these you can go to scene Collections and have new ones as you can see I have a lot and yeah I got a lot all right so in settings for other things you want to go to your settings for stream if you stream on Kick it's custom you'll have a server and a string key never reveal your string key now for twitch YouTube Facebook Ram Twitter they're all right here but they have a bunch of all all just sorts of streaming platforms that you can connect to if you do YouTube it will automatically have um another button right next to streaming for everything that you need to do to make your collections under output make sure your rescale value your resal output Is 1920 by 1080 if you have a strong PC always stream 1920 1080 now your bit rate no more than 8,000 8,000 is the max for streaming or else people will not be able to adjust the resolution of your stream key frame interval makes this two don't ask it has something to do with quality it's the most efficient for recording I have mine at 125 1250 12,500 but you know what I mean just for recording you can have it a lot higher just know it will take up more space think about a 1 hour stream is around 3 gigabytes at this I but I could be wrong audio you can leave all this as default you guys won't naturally see this unless you install the replay buffer uh add-on I can link that below if youall ask for it and not I'll leave a l here below anyways as well uh audio I didn't mess with any of the audio video make sure this is always 1920 by 1080 and listen if your PC is strong and you're not playing graph IC games like Call of Duty potentially CS like AAA title high graphic games you can stream at 60 FPS I have a 3060 okay my PC is not the greatest okay the 3060 isn't as good as you may think but it's pretty good pretty damn good uh if you have money to buy a new graphics card I would actually kind of recommend the 3060 but but if you want more bang for your buck go with like this 60 the 660 XT from AMD AMD has a lot better uh price to Performance ratios I stream 60 FPS I record 60 FPS it just looks so much nicer hot Keys these are all up to you as you can see I have some hot Keys most of mine are through my actual settings I can pop those up and show you those if y'all would like so for my pause and unpause I have those my instant replays control shift R what that does I will start my replay buffer and it will automatically connect intermission um it's kind of weird it's control shift and then I think my scroll lock key CU I never actually use those um main scene oh no main scene's control lock so yeah it's all just a bunch of keyboard shortcuts that I like oh I didn't know I had that oh damn because I deleted that scene um if you wonder what a nested scene is it's whenever you put a scene inside of a scene that's what the nest stood for accessibility probably won't mess with Advanced you on probably won't mess with um if there's any other thing that you do need it probably won't be in this tutorial but if you go to your individual files it does have sound effects has all the screens you'll need and it even has icons I use these icons to make my little thing right here but that's just about all you'll need to get
