Holy shit. I love this.
Oh my god. Wish I would have known this a few cars back. The attitude at the time was 'clear coat failure? need a new paint job'. This is awesome.
Only thing I would have done differently is remove the side marker and possibly removed the headlight and bumper as well to save on a tape joint. That shined well though, I'd be interested to see it after a wet sand and polish.
I did a DIY paint job on the hardtop of my old Miata. I used generic black automotive paint and a similar 2k clear to what he used. It definitely turns out good with proper prep.
I ended up doing 6 coats of the clear then polished it down.

Impressive, would be a great project for my beater.
Its hard to tell how good this looks since its low light but it does look good. However, it would infinitely easier to find these parts in a junkyard and swap them out. A hood takes 10 minutes to swap, fenders can but a little tougher but if you can do this you can swap bolted on body parts.
This kinda exceeds normal auto detailing and gets more into auto body repair...
And now the rest of the car doesnβt match. So he either needs to repaint the whole thing or buff the remaining panels to match the sheen.
Awesome! My 09 civic could really use a new coat.
nice and easy fix, however there's still orange peel
